"AP sports, I'm sheck Freeman. I'm at my comeback by the Miami Heat who rode one of the best playoff performances of all time. Jimmy Butler had 56 points, leading the heat to a one 19 one 14 win or the NBA's overall number one seed Milwaukee Bucks. The heat trail by 14 in the fourth quarter. I think this is where all the best players they show up in their show out. And I'm not saying I'm one of those best players. I just want to be looked at, looked at as such. The heat lead the series three games the one. LA Lakers best at Memphis one 17 one 11 in overtime, LeBron James with 22 points, including the driving lamp with .8 seconds left to send the game to OT, Lakers up three games the one. The long awaited trade has happened, Green Bay Packers trade Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets for multiple draft picks. NHL playoffs Toronto erased of three gold deficit in the third period and beat Tampa 5 four in overtime. Seattle even its series with Colorado at two games apiece after a three two overtime win. Las Vegas defeated Winnipeg four two to take a three two serious lead and New Jersey, even at Ceres with the New York rangers at two two, a three to one devil's win, the devil's Jack Hughes is pleased they were able to win both games in New York. Yeah, you could call it that was hockey, but you know, we got the one and we had a lot of belief in the room that we'd get the second one tonight. So now we're really in this thing in two two and we're really excited with where we're at. Baseball. It'll play Colorado defeat at Cleveland 6 nothing Cincinnati beat Texas 7 6 to snap a 6 game skid. Which countries are evacuating citizens from Sudan?

"What about the thousands of U.S. citizens who are still in warring Sudan? About 16,000 people who hold U.S. citizenship are still in Sudan as fears grow that the fierce fighting there could lead to even more chaos over the weekend U.S. special ops forces used helicopters to get U.S. embassy personnel out of the capital, Khartoum. A dangerous mission, says retired marine colonel Steve ganyard. Three special operations chinooks flying 800 miles at a hundred feet at night on night vision goggles having to land halfway get gas come into Khartoum where there's active combat going on. He was on ABC's this week with George Stephanopoulos. Still in Sudan, those thousands of other U.S. citizens. What about them? The U.S. government has told them they need to figure this out for themselves. There will not be any mass evacuations. I'm Rita foley

Mark Milley and the Subversion of the Military With Robert Wilkie

"Issue of critical race theory, et cetera, I'll obviously have to get much smarter on whatever the theory is. But I do think it's important, actually. For those of us in uniform, to be open minded and be widely read, and the United States military academy is a university. And it is important that we train and we understand, and I want to understand white rage. And I'm white. And I want to understand it. This Shakespearean phrase cuckold comes to mind. There's also the word traitor when you think about his relations with general Lee in the People's Liberation Army of China. But even just let me just for one moment vent a secretary wilkie colonel wilkie. That sentence in and of itself, not only is the general of the joint chiefs a disgrace to the oversized army uniform he wears. He actually said there, I don't know what critical race theory is, but I like that it's being taught at West Point. I mean, that is actually a moron. But let's finish out this sentence. What he didn't say. I like the fact that critical race theory is being taught at West Point. And by the way, congressman, you can graduate from the military academy without taking one course in military history. No, no, no, no, no. No. Yes. It is no longer required. But this kind of nonsense is now being imposed on all ranks. And by the way, let's also finish the response to it, general milley said it. I've known general Billy a long time. He said. A communist, but I read Mao. Well, you read Mao to understand how the enemy is thinking. You don't read mal to figure out how to run your armed forces.

Col. Grant Newsham Exposes China’s Militaristic Plans for the Future

"Guys, I'm really happy to welcome to the podcast, colonel grant Newsom. He's the author of a new book. We're going to talk about couldn't be more timely. It's called when China attacks a warning to America. Now colonel newsham is a retired U.S. Marine served in the indo Pacific region for decades. He's a former U.S. foreign service officer who covered both east and South Asia, he's an attorney who's lived in Tokyo for more than 20 years. This is a guy who knows Asia and who knows China. The book again is called when China attacks colonel new sham welcome to the podcast, thanks for joining me. You make the argument in this book that China's goal is not simply to help usher in a multi polo world in which there are numerous independent foci of power. China wants to replace and displace the United States and eventually become the world's sole superpower. Now, are you saying that the Chinese plan is to do this sort of step by step? In other words, Taiwan first, the larger asiatic region next and then make a play for more global domination. How is China planning in the long term? We know the Chinese think that way to replace the United States. Well, make no mistake. As you've laid it out, that is China's objective is not just to replace us, but rather to dominate us ideally to destroy us. But China has that opportunistic approach to these things. But at the same time, they look at the whole map, they look at the entire globe. And they have established themselves on every continent, starting with commercial presence, economic presence, which leads to political influence, and ultimately there's a military objective to all of this. And so it's like somebody who is at the same time checking every door to see if it's locked or not. And where you find an opportunity, and you push. And I do see things coming together over Taiwan in the near term. And that would best be looked at as a first step, really, to a much larger longer sequence of events that is ultimately intended to bring us down.

"Want to get to a couple of stories that are big stories. Have you guys heard about this? Have you heard about this? Okay. Have tip New York Post. Hunter Biden used an FBI mole named one eye. To tip them off to China. To tip them off to China pro, so I had tipped New York Post. Again, thank you forgot manhunter Biden had an FBI mode named one eye who tipped off his Chinese business partners that they were under investigation. This, according to an Israeli energy expert arrested in Cyprus last month on gun running charges. That's going to be very significant. So hold that in your mind. Gun, running charges, gun running charges. Doctor gal luft was arrested to keep quiet in my opinion, but the House oversight committee with James comer has gotten involved and now they're investigating what is an explosive claim by doctor Gallo. He's a former Israel defense forces lieutenant colonel. He has deep intelligent ties in Washington and Beijing and he says he was arrested to stop him from revealing what he knows about the Biden family and the FBI corruption as well. Sebastian and Chris Kohls Review the Cast Of "Conan the Barbarian"

"Let's start talking about the cast. We have William Smith playing the blacksmith who is the father to Conan, and here we have well, it's about steel and it's a riddle. I forgot the secret of steel and nothing on the battlefield. We found it. I just meant that God's a giant. The secret of steel has always carried with a mystery. He was foolish for Conan. You must learn its discipline. For no one. No one in this world can you trust? Not men that women have beasts. This you can trust. What an incredible, incredible performance. So hypnotics, the manly man. Do you recognize the actor William Smith and where we saw him most recently, Chris? No, I don't. But the funny thing you mentioned how good this performance is, it's actually a relatively small part of film. Yeah. It's just this little sliver of this film. And it's so epic and it's so well done. Excuse me. Yeah. What do you want to see on? Live radio. That's what you want to see. Okay, just brilliantly done. I mean, this is what you can do with such a small part, right? I mean, this is truly a great act of this man. What has he done recently? Well, this is the interpreter. This is the interrogator, the intelligence officer. In real life, in the Korean War, who was colonel in red dawn. Do you remember the colonel who? Of course. Of course I have another movie. Another buddy of milius. 'cause this was first. Right. He gave him a big wig, massive beard, but just, you know, and that scene on the top of the mountain with the clouds going by. It could have been so cheesy, so fake, but it just works. The connection between the sun and the father. All right, talk to us about the rest of the cars. You mentioned some great performances. I'll give you my input, but tell us about the supporting actors. Yeah, you know, I was really struck by the king. This is played by a man named max von Sydow. And I had actually now really heard of this guy before. I've obviously seen him in many films, and I just haven't heard that name. What an underrated actor. I mean, I don't know all the stuff that he's been and I couldn't list you all of his films, but I know I've seen him in many, many projects. And what a fantastic performance. When he's talking about how he's got all this money, he's built up this massive kingdom, but all he cares now is about his daughter that's all he cares about. It's actually a touching performance weirdly

"Colonel David Scott Mann, and he's weighing in on what happened in Afghanistan. This whole thing has been a gutting experience. I never imagined I would witness the kind of gross abandonment. Followed by a career preserving silence of senior leaders military and civilian. As a result of the way that we've left Afghanistan, we're on the front end of a national security crisis as 27 violent extremist groups are now operating on former NATO security bases with Taliban top cover. And I think we're on the front end of a mental health tsunami. As 73% of our Afghan war veterans say they feel betrayed by how this war ended. Calls to the VA hotline have spiked 81% in the first year since the Afghan withdrawal. And they keep coming. And

Sgt. Tyler Vargas-Andrews Testifies on Afghanistan Evacuation

"Going to hear him testify that he was given orders to stand down. They were they would have had the opportunity to take out the suicide bomber, but they were ordered by Biden's Pentagon to stand down. Let's take a listen to the testimony of sergeant Tyler Vargas Andrews. Over the communication network we passed that there was a potential threat in an idea attack imminent. This was a series that could get a requested engagement authority while my team leader was ready on the M1 ten. Some automatic sniper system. The response leadership did not have the engagement authority for us. Do not engage. I requested for the battal commander, lieutenant colonel Brad white, to come to the tower to see what we did. While we waited for him, psychological operations individuals came to our tower immediately and confirmed the suspect met the suicide bomber description. He eventually arrived and we showed him our evidence. The photos we had of the two men. We reassured him of the ease of fire on the suicide bomber. Pointedly, we asked him for engagement authority and permission, we asked him if we could shoot. Our battal commander said, and I quote, I don't know, end quote. Myself and my team leader asked very harshly. Well, who does? Because this is your responsibility, sir. He can reply, he did not know, but would find out. We received no update and never got our answer. Eventually, the individual disappeared to this day, we believe he was a suicide bomber. We made everyone on the ground aware operations had briefly halted, but then started again, plain and simple. We were ignored. Our expertise was disregarded, no one was held accountable for our safety. About 1730 staff sergeant Darren Hoover, friend and mentor, came to get me from the tower to go help find an Afghan interpreter in the crowd. We found the interpreter and his brother, born with American passports. They told us 5 told us of 5 family members still in the canal. I stayed there waiting for the family members standing against a two foot canal wall, ten minutes passed. Then a flash in a massive way to pressure, I'm throwing 12 feet onto the ground, but instantly knew what had happened. I opened my eyes to marines dead or unconscious lying around me. A crowd of hundreds immediately vanished in front of me and my body was catastrophically wounded with a 150 ball bearings. Now in it. Almost immediately we started taking fire from the neighborhood and I saw how injured I was with my right arm, completely shredded, and unusable. I saw my lower

Veterans testify of 'catastrophic' impact of Afghan collapse

"A house panel has heard firsthand testimony from active service members and veterans on the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021. I'm Ben Thomas, with some of what they had to say. For millions of people in Afghanistan and the U.S. Aiden Gunderson served as an army medic during the evacuation, he says he's plagued by the memories. I see the faces of all the people we can not save all those that we left behind. The majority of witnesses argued blamed for the fall of Kabul touches every presidential administration from George W. Bush to Joe Biden, retired green beret, lieutenant colonel David Scott Mann. America is building a nasty reputation from multi generational systemic abandonment of our allies that we leave as smoldering human wreckage from the montagnards of Vietnam to the Kurds in Syria. Testimony focused not on the decision to withdraw, but on what witnesses described as a desperate attempt to rescue American citizens in Afghan allies with little planning and inadequate support. Tyler Vargas Andrews then a marine sergeant detailed the horror after suicide bombers attacked the crowds at Kabul airport. He now wears a prosthetic arm to withdraw was a catastrophe in my opinion. And there was an inexcusable lack of accountability and negligence and they implored Congress to help the allies left behind. Peter lucier is a marine veteran, now working with team America relief assisting Afghans in relocating. It's not too late. We're going to talk a lot today about all of the mistakes that were made leading up to that. But urgent action right now will save so many lives Ben Thomas, Washington.

"Recommended for the nation's highest military award, a Vietnam veteran has finally been honored. Retired colonel Paris Davis was one of the first black green beret combat commanders. One President Biden calls a true hero for risking his life amid heavy fire to save his soldiers during a 1965 firefight. His commander in turn recommended Davis for it the Medal of Honor. The president notes the paperwork was lost half a century ago. Not just once. But twice. This morning here at The White House, the president draped the medal on the now 83 year old Davis. You are everything this metal means. Outside minutes later, Davis did not dwell on the delay, but rather on the honor itself. This medal reflects what teamwork service and dedication can achieve. In

School Choice, Parents First

"Let me go to the key domestic issue. And I believe this is key to this election governor. By the way, do you prefer ambassador or governor? I know you say either is better, but which do you prefer? No, I prefer Nikki. Those were moments in time. I don't do that. No, no, no. When you've got a father in law as a colonel, you never go to the first thing, but okay, I'll stick with ambassador. The most important issue in American parenting is going to be school choice. Now, Arizona and your colleague and friend Doug ducey led the way with the most revolutionary school choices universal. Utah and Iowa has followed Arkansas signed it. It got started in Florida and West Virginia with programs that were expanding, Ohio is stock. They're not sure yet. What did you do in South Carolina on the school choice front when you were the governor? So we expanded charter schools in our state and we pushed for school choice and at the time it was very difficult, but we did allow for choices. We did help homeschoolers quite a bit. We did also pass a state bill that said NHL that can't read by third grade could not go to the fourth grade because we knew that if you can't read by third grade, you're four times less likely to graduate high school. But I'll give you this, you think about this pre COVID 70% of 8th graders in our country were not proficient in reading. 66% of 8th graders were not proficient in math. Now you put clothes down schools and COVID and think how far back they are. If ever there was a time to have nationwide school choice, it is now. The number of homeschoolers in our country has multiplied times 5. The majority of them are African Americans. They didn't have the luxury of either the money to go to a private school or a waiting list because there were so few private school options. We need to open up the competition. We need to put parents in charge, but more than that, look at what kids are learning. You know, you've heard about critical race theory. Everybody's talked about that. But think about what they're doing with the gender stuff.

"Is John Rambo. We served on the same team together in them. I don't know if they ever talked about me. I've got a picture. Of us together. Somewhere. We'll just jump in the box. Here. Here it is. Do this. That's me. That's damn forth. And what's more? Bronson, Ortega, and there's a delmar right in the back. We had to put it back as he's so big if we didn't eat. He didn't cut the whole picture. They got big. What time will he be back? He died. What? God last summer. Died how? Cancer? Brought it back from there. All that orange stuff that spread it around. Cut him down to nothing. I could lift him off the sheep. For me, I've seen it so I don't know if 30 40 times for me that line Chris cut him down to nothing. I could pick him up. I mean, just so powerful. And this scene isn't even in the novel, the novel starts with Rambo walking into the town and teas picking him up. So credit to the script writers also, again, just like rocky, whether it's this scene, the sudden shock, what? He's dead. And compared to the end scene where he literally has a mental breakdown in front of colonel troutman. I'm sorry, slice of bloody good actor. Yeah, he really is. Actually, that scene that you're talking about that final scene, such a beautifully acted scene. And how they bookended the film with the moment that he first realizes his buddy has died of cancer. And the moment where he's sort of at his wits end and Trump is trying to talk him down and he breaks down crying. Sort of holding troutman as if troutman is his father or something, you know? And it's really a beautifully performed scene. It really does evoke emotion. Troutman's holding back tears himself, and you feel like, yeah, this guy does deserve something. He does deserve a second chance. He does deserve sympathy. And from what I understand in the book, Rambo is more of an animal. He's more animalistic. He kills a killer. 200 people in the book.

Col. Douglas MacGregor on the Latest Military Situation in Ukraine

"Joining us now is colonel Douglas macgregor colonel. Welcome back to the program. Love having you on and our audience is just enthusiastic every time you come on because you're clear and also contrarian to the nonsense that we see on television from the military industrial complex. What is the latest in Ukraine? Is it true that Russia is likely planning a blitz or a major offensive in the coming weeks? Well, I think the major offensive Charlie is actually already begun. It's not beginning the way we would begin an offensive. One of the things the Russians made explicitly clear is that they were not interested in this shock at all business. That's not how they do business. So what we're watching at the moment are a couple of things that your audience needs to know. First of all, the numbers of artillery strikes, rockets, missiles, hard shell artillery has risen dramatically. Most of it, not all of it, but most of it is focused on destroying air defense. Air defense radars air defense capabilities. And that is logical because once you've stripped away the air defense, then there is nothing to interfere with your own close air support as well as all of your other stand off attack missile and rocket systems. Secondly, they've marshaled an enormous number of forces down in the south of Ukraine on the east side of the dnieper river. And moving from left to right from zamora, which is near the river over to bakh mood, which everybody's under great deal about. And then up to a place called liman, close to the river, that's about a four, three, 400 kilometer stretch, and they have marshaled roughly 250 to 300,000 troops there. And then in the western part of Russia, another 100,000. And what we're seeing is an incremental rollout of these forces. These are many of the mobilized forces. They are led by combat experienced commanders, but many of these troops have not seen combat to this point.

Well, it's going to be called noted Nikki Harris, the Kamala Harris of the Republican Party. And the nicest thing I say about her is that she's a mediocrity. Look, the problem with Nikki Haley is no one trusts her to be conservative. And when you catch her on TV, making a commitment. Now look, I don't expect politicians to be rigorously honest. I'm a realistic cat. But, you know, if you line to my face about one thing, I got a jury instruction around here somewhere that says, if someone's. Intentionally deceptive about one thing, you may consider that they may be intentionally deceptive about many things or all. And that is not called a fact pattern council. Yes. Look, the hit on Nikki Hale is no one trusts her to get out there and promote America first agenda. In fact, I think she is, I think she's on the cutting edge of 2005. Have you seen her hacky political action? I swear, it's something like the eagle forum for families and eagles and freedom and the flag and also eagles. It's just like the most basic consultant. "Road diners, nearly as decrepit as himself. What Sanders really wanted was to get his chicken into a prestige franchise, something established. That way it could be sold at multiple locations. Maybe even far reaching locations. He met with countless restaurant owners. But he was rejected. Amazingly, despite his desperation, Sanders still maintained his standards. Sometimes he'd drive for hours once up to 1500 miles. Get out of the car, peer through the window at a restaurant's kitchen setup, and immediately walk back to his vehicle. The colonel said at the end of the day, there were places he didn't want his chicken to be sold. Even though he was bleeding, gas money. According to encyclopedia Britannica, in two years, he signed up only 5 restaurants. Legend has it, Colonel Sanders was rejected 1009 times. Then something interesting happened. In those two years he was pounding the pavement. Words started to spread that those 5 restaurants who did take on Sanders product were doing well with it. And suddenly, a handful of restaurants started coming to Sanders, inquiring about becoming franchisees. So he began packing and shipping his flour mixture to restaurants, doing all his own bookkeeping. And with that money, Sanders took a page out of Pete Harmon's playbook and got himself some ad time on local radio and television stations. He'd talk about his special chicken, and then hand out samples to live audiences. And that's when one producer gave him some advice. They told him to ditch

"And Arlene Harmon, who owned a restaurant in Salt Lake City, and the trio really got along. So the couple invited Sanders to visit their home if he ever happened to one day find himself in the Utah area. And a couple years later, that was the case. So Sanders dropped in. He learned that the harmons were looking for a new item to add to their menu. So he decided to pitch them his perfect pressure cooked fried chicken. But they weren't so sure. Fried chicken wasn't exactly a groundbreaking concept, nor was it necessarily something people were incentivized to leave their home to enjoy. But Sanders insisted. While at their home in Salt Lake City, he tracked down a pressure cooker. His 11 herbs and spices, flour, some chicken, and he borrowed their stove. And they watched, as he darted around their kitchen like a mad scientist. When he was finally ready, he placed his fried chicken in front of them both. Arlene Harmon, whispered to her husband. It just looks like greasy fried chicken. Nothing special. Then she picked up a piece, dipped it in gravy and took one bite. And in that moment, the harmons knew. Sanders fried chicken was not only going to be a new item on their menu. It should become the star item of the entire restaurant.

"Liked it, and he decided to lean in. He figured a true southern gentleman wore a suit. And a true colonel was probably old enough to have white hair. So he put on a black suit with a string tie and began bleaching his brown hair as close to white as he could get it. Including his mustache and goatee. Sanders started making good money. So he decided to expand his business. He renovated his motel to add more rooms, and he started looking for ways to make his kitchen a little more efficient. So he attended a demonstration about this newfangled appliance called a pressure cooker. A pressure cooker was, as it was presented to Colonel Sanders, a device that cooked green beans fast, without compromising flavor. And it did so by keeping the temperature of the oil hot and consistent. No guessing required. While those green beans are essentially being steamed and fried simultaneously, you can't see them. You can't smell them. You can't grab one to taste. They're in, then they're out, and they're perfect. Every time. It was a game changer, and it made him wonder. If a pressure cooker could cook vegetables perfectly, what might it do for his chicken? Pan frying chicken, as he had been doing now for years, was inefficient to say the least. It certainly delivered on flavor, but it took 30 minutes to make and was near impossible to cook in bulk. He tried many other methods like baking his chicken or dropping it into a wired basket with the French fries, but it was never quite right. The outside needed to crisp up while retaining moisture on the inside. It was a delicate balance. So in 1939, he got himself a pressure cooker and started experimenting. He put together a special mixture of flour along with 11 herbs and spices. His original recipe. He coded the chicken and dropped it into the oil. And lo and behold, with a little fine tuning, Sanders was able to create the perfect fried chicken. Quickly, in bulk, and in as little as 9 minutes. Set your timer, we'll be right back. One day in the early 50s, Sanders attended a restaurant convention in Chicago. There he met a couple. Pete

"Hines. In the early 1930s, Duncan Hines was decades away from printing his name on boxes of cake mix. Back then, the traveling salesman from Bowling Green, Kentucky, was spending his days on the road, and his nights, eating disappointing chili. So, by virtue of his lifestyle, Heinz became somewhat of an amateur food critic. And one day, he and his wife decided to scribble a list of the best restaurants Heinz had frequented on his travels. 475 of them to be exact. From coast to coast. And in 1935, he bound and published that list. In a book he called adventures in good eating. He sold each copy for $1, and by word of mouth, the book spread like wildfire. Every trucker traveler and restaurateur across the country wanted a copy. And guess which motel restaurant made the cut. Sanders court and cafe. To be featured in the nation's first road food guide was a huge leg up. The blurb read notable for its sizzling steaks, fried chicken, country ham, and hot biscuits. "By the 7th grade, Sanders was struggling to keep up with school. He dreaded math class in particular, and now it was getting all sorts of fancy names like algebra and arithmetic. He told New Yorker magazine, teachers started asking him to solve for X the unknown. And yet, the only known he could think of was that he was quitting school altogether. Why sit in class all day making $0 when he could be out in the world earning $15 a month. That was math. He could do. So at the ripe old age of 11, Sanders dropped out. It wasn't long before he got himself another job on another farm. This time, he plowed the fields with a team of mules, milked the cows, fed the chickens, and shucked the corn, from well before dawn, to well after dusk. It was exhausting work for an 11 year old. But by that point, he was glad not to be home much. His mother had remarried, a man who wasn't exactly keen on the idea of stepchildren. So, at age 15, Sanders flew the coop, and embarked on a series of odd jobs in search of his passion. Starting at a transportation company. In 1906, Sanders began taking fares and making change on a streetcar in new Albany, Indiana. But it didn't last long. When

"Them to bed and cooking for them. One day, Sanders baked a loaf of bread in the family's hot wood stove, all on his own, and he was so proud. The first grader immediately wrapped it up and brought his creation to show his mother at the canning factory. She and the lady she worked with all gave him a big hug. By the year 1900, he was ten years old, and his mother decided he'd proven himself ready to start contributing to the family, financially. So she got him a job clearing brush for a farmer down the road. Now, at ten years old, Sanders had a wandering imagination. Clearing brush was a monotonous activity, far less adventurous than his own mind. So, way out in the bush and with no one around to keep him on task. Sanders got bored. So he lay down in the grass, daydreaming, and listening to the sounds of nature. But when old MacDonald caught him lazing on a Tuesday afternoon, Sanders was fired. He was ashamed, then terrified. He'd have to tell his hardworking mother he could no longer help her pay the bills. He swallowed hard and delivered the news. She said, I'm afraid you're just no good. It looks like you'll never amount to anything. By the 7th grade, Sanders was struggling to keep up with school. He dreaded math class in particular, and now it was getting all sorts of fancy names like algebra and arithmetic. He

After it became public in the two thousands but for the wider world untold. Two thousand eleven. It was largely unknown and because of the role of the families of the men who had perished in the massacre in the uprising. In two thousand eleven it was really a frame that a lot of journalists including myself used to explain not just the uprising that year but also what had led to the It was a way to explain to the outside world what libyans had endured during the forty two years gaddafi was empower day of rage was a clever move for it was never officially an anti gadhafi protest extensively it was an anniversary demonstration against the two thousand six publication in denmark of cartoons of the prophet muhammad technically the authorities can't argue with that but gadhafi and his inner circle. The drove the uprising. In two thousand eleven. It was something that drew libyan's in it was an emotional connection to the past. It was something that reminded libyans of what the gaddafi regime was capable of. There is a context tool that is happening. Beyond libya by february twenty eleven the arab spring is now sweeping across the region there were protests in saudi arabia sudan borough tena civil unrest in morocco jordan oman kuwait mass protests in algeria. Lebanon and yemen. The regime is being overthrown in the fall of. Ti's and ten era. Lucien broke out in tunisia to start. It was called. The jasmine revolution began over. They had a pretty educated population number people. Almost everyone graduated high school with nubia in those days and on a lot of people want to college and then they got out of college jobs and arezzo housing which was another major factor. Because you had a lot of young people in libya wanting to get married but they couldn't get married because no place for them to live in conjunction with those two major problems. Here is an prices and so forth so you had people coming out on the streets in early. Two thousand eleven for gadhafi. It's coming mightily close to home. It's not in benghazi that protester recurring events from across the arab world been bowled in the sense of discontent across the country that been demos happening in sympathy with the arab spring protests. The manner anticipated the peaceful protests. Outside the benghazi detention center is met with police. Violence tear gas atoms and bullets. The touchpaper has been lit. Libya was squeezed in between two revolutions. I think it was sort of inevitable. That revolution was going to spread into libya. Could offie was going to brooke noticed. Some qaddafi was not interested in mediating anything. With the small protests had erupted in benghazi can offer only saw to use violence to suppress any kind of uprising so the suppression of the protests in benghazi in mid february twenty eleven was going to have huge consequences because this set off a ripple effect that had protesters throughout eastern libya basically getting ready to turn to arms libya's revolution it would very quickly move into more civil war than either of the majority peaceful revolutions that we saw in tunis and cairo so although we categorized in the press libya as one of the revolutions of the arab spring revolution very different character. It was an armed revolution. Libya's revolution took place at the point of a gun in response. Mobs burn police. Stations and government buildings demonstrated deaths a mass funeral and a further cycle of violence. The now seems to have the whole libya out on the street. "In benghazi. The roads acquired the air is still in koo. Libya is just coming to the gps. Divide up gadhafi's officers head to pre-arranged places of occupation airfields. Police depots government offices gadhafi himself heads to the burqa barracks. He knows well while machine. And tripoli arrives at the military court is there the ensuing coup is textbook straight towns of nasa playbook operation jerusalem as it is code named meets virtually no resistance. Shot is fired. It's utterly bloodless a white revolution as it will be dumped. So we'll call it the al fateh revolution gadhafi himself. Who prefer the more earnest. Socialistic title one september revolution not even in gadhafi's wildest dreams could been this simple when you look at the September one hundred sixty nine coup. You look at a situation in which everyone in the western embassies in the us embassy. Great britain's embassy so-forth they all expected a coup but what we expected was coup led by a senior living officer or several officers. What they didn't expect was a coup led by a bunch of lieutenants and captains and so that caught everybody by surprise because most of the sixty seventy people making up the free newness officers movement which led the coup most of those people came from poor families minor tribes while ahead attended the rome alter academy was in search of a better likes more opportunity so they were outsiders. One of the interesting things about the coup was that gadhafi realized that from the beginning. And so when i asked while those the right person for the right time he didn't think he was and he was probably right at the same time office. Better rumor that there was a senior colonel in the army. That actually was running things and he was just doing his bidding again. This was all subterfuge to try to confuse the ball. As to the fact that these very junior officers are running things. The adopt was the alpha male running revolution but no one and the embassy or day see really accepted that for months. Gaddafi rang zoom so to speak the language was so it failed to deliver on any democratic promises the injustices economic and socially corrupt and the relationships that the stab finished with the lint balls the united states and great britain by which lays secure military bases and economic interests. When actually considered to be against the nationalist aspirations of the people the game was on a despite some of the wounded shootings made on the front of national development. So in that kind of situation gadhafi's movement was only i would say By the mobilize. The head of the army colonel. Shelly escaped capture by diving into his swimming pool in his pajamas The rebels will find the next day and treat him decently enough Crown prince sanussi can address his son. Meanwhile turns out the lights in his house and hides when he's eventually arrested there's no apparent violence towards him his supporters. He is simply asked to renounce his claim to the throne he promptly does though at six thirty. Am as benghazi comes to life. Gadhafi puts his signals trading. To good use. He takes to public radio to inform the waking citizens of libya that his free officers central committee will now form a revolutionary command council. The power as the engineer switches off the microphone gadhafi has emboldened enough to award himself promotion. He makes himself a colonel was immediately promoted to colonel. He was promoted to colonel but goes nassir was a colonel. Andy launched the revolution in.

It's a bold move. But a conspicuous will french. Rafal jets circling above alerted to the developments on the ground. One of them loses off missile in the dirt. And so of the fireball. Deborah flies smoke swirls mangled car wrecks around damage but somehow not destroyed the land cruiser in question slams to a halt and it stunned occupants stagger out. They cost around for cover. Desperate to get off the road and out of sight just across the way is affected dripping. Covert a sewage pipe. The dazed passengers hustle there. Vip across to it and show him inside petrified and carry this man. Gadhafi colonel gadhafi for forty two years. He's ruled libya with an iron. Fist is brutal authority synonymous with the country. That now lies around him in ruins. He's been spotty. It's too late bullets. Ping around as he hunkered down as his bodyguards are overcome. The circling rebels dragged fugitive out of the pipe. Then they subject him to a protracted sadistic so it's not explosion of revenge against their lifetime. Oppressor bloodless status paid. The rebels take turns to put a bullet in him. Qaddafi ties me. A miles from where he was born confused but defiant to the last he protests that he is their leader a benevolent one later. Gadhafi's bloody leaking corpse is taken to the town of misratah up. Freezer thousands were filed past to witness the demise of the time for themselves some post facilities with the semi frozen body in a mixture of ecstasy sheer disbelief. Forget daffy is entire adult life. Even mia days ago. Such a thing is unthinkable. It's a question of echoes around the world. How could a man who exercised such tight on his people and for so long. End up like this. My name is paul mcgann and welcome to real dictators. The series that explores the hidden lives of tyrant in this episode. Where in libya country on the verge of the mediterranean at the northern edge of africa and the threshold of the arab world. We've all heard from obama. Qadhafi self brother leader king of kings the falcon of africa for libyans. His name spells tyrant. The industrial-scale abuser of the people he claimed to love to the west. It means tara. The champion of the munich olympic massacre amongst countless atrocities the architect of the lockerbie bombing gaddafi was the revolutionary officer. Who put libya on the map. But squandered its richest turning it into the rogue state. He was the radical leader who took on the west took on america and was dubbed by washington to be the most dangerous man in the world. There are all kinds of memos from sanaa and the diplomatic correspondence between washington aaa traffic. Chris is nuts. You know you've got to a point. Where around nineteen seventy two. The embassy received a fairly detailed psychological profile. That would suggesting was insane. He seeing in saint me outside. He wanted along the side of hispanic neuron. I hear is insane until the major mania. I see the he missed it but not insane whether the daffy was evil mad or both his life and times demand our attention expertise story in eyewitnesses to his terrible guide us through an extraordinary story spanning five decades gaddafi was in power longer than franko and far longer than hitler so although he might not be seen as much of a world figure in the twentieth century his reign actually spans a longer period of time than either libya it was so isolated from the rest of the world it was so cut off from the rest of the world for much of his regime was gadhafi and gadhafi was libya. That's pretty much all the outside.
