Steve Kuclo: Keep at Least a 90% Good Diet

"Here's a cool one I want to get your take on this because you know Steve I know you work out really hard I mean I follow you on Instagram I see it You're strong too But most bodybuilders are strong but even if you go back in the day and you look Arnold for a bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger who was the guy at the time at 7 8 time Olympia champion whatever it was a comparatively speaking he didn't really lift that heavy compared to like a Franco Colombo or a Dave Draper type You're a strong guy You throw around you Nick walker big Raimi you throw guys throw around a lot of weight But I think you'd agree a guy told me in the gym about ten years ago All of you guys work out hard The real key 90% of this is the knife and fork the diet isn't it When you're in your professional bodybuilding space you live in A 100% I always say you can't out train a bad diet You know whether your goal is putting on muscle or losing body fat or just general health and wellness altogether you need to make sure your diets I always say like at least 90% good because it's 90% of what year will be able to achieve in or out of the gym So it definitely died is huge

"Simple, easy to repair bikes are in. Now all of this is great news to acela Abadi, a Sri Lankan Doctor Who's been preaching the health benefits of cycling to his countrymen for years. But he had trouble convincing them. Basically, the vehicle of poor man that song affected the society not to cycle. Now it's changed. So much so that Colombo's mayor recently inaugurated new bike paths across the city. Because it's not the most bike friendly place, doctor abira acknowledges. Those who are starting cycling, this is very challenging. Yeah, I mean, there's a train right here passing on one side. There's a bus on the other. And you know, it's not a beginner's segment. And yet that same Colombo coastal highway is where I met M Fernando, the first time cyclist riding his bike to the hotel where he works. He has had what he calls a few incidents with motorists. But he keeps peddling to get to work to keep his job to just keep going, which is what all Sri lankans are trying to do right now. Lauren freyer NPR news in Colombo, Sri Lanka. "To do it. Well, tell us about how that went. You say you got a call. So what is it? What was it like? Well, you never told in advance, but I got a call from my captain at time. He said, meet me at such and such a place. It's such and such a time. But that was common. I got that call almost every other day, you know? Were you told to dress up or anything or just a regular normal call? Well, he said, where a suit, but again, that's not the only time I was told to wear a suit in two and a half years. And most of the time I did anyone when I went into Brooklyn. So I lived in Long Island at the time. So when I got there, I had a sense that something was up because they don't want to tell anybody in advance because remember, this is a very secret covert operation that we're handling here. So then I was told from there, I got in a car with somebody we drove around quite a bit to make sure we weren't being followed. And I ended up at a catering hall that was owned by Joe Colombo's son, Anthony Colombo called the casabella, I believe it was. And there was 5 other guys that met with me. They were all recruits, and that night, the 5 of us actually took the oath

Sri Lanka’s President Resigns After Months of Protest

"Sri Lanka's prime minister has been sworn in as the country's interim president until parliament elects a successor to gotabaya Rajapaksa who resigned after mass protests Jubilant crowds celebrated their victory in Sri Lanka's capital Colombo Protests send me that Graham said he was proud of the group effort to depose the former president This is really something amazing The fact that it happened on the back of largely peaceful protests that just happened not in Colombo but across the country And so in that sense this is really an amazing moment Sri Lanka's parliament speaker set a new leader be chosen within a week by lawmakers the new president will serve

"Whenever my father would tell me stories of his days as an undercover narcotics cop for the US Treasury, he'd get to talking about chasing mobsters like Joe Gallo, Joe profaci Joe Colombo, a lot of Joe's back then. I was only a kid when he bought me a magazine with a lot of gangsters in it and a bunch of black and white pictures of a lot of guys who got rubbed out. It was called mafia at war. And he'd tell me who he knew and who he chased and which ones used to come to my grandmother's house in Brooklyn and drink her wine and eat her pasta. And eventually he pointed to one hard nosed mean looking gangster in the fedora and an overcoat who was named Harry happy mayon, who was a hitman for Meyer lansky, and a member of murder incorporated. And my father would say, this is a great uncle on your mother's side. I'd say, why'd they call him happy? Because he was a mean son of a bitch. I love that magazine. I used to memorize those guys like kids in my class would memorize them baseball cards. Some kids could tell you how many hits Hank Aaron had, I could tell you how many hits Sal maranzano survived.

See this upside down right on the southern cross over the head. The star seems reasonably emptied as tommy year. Actually in the evening there are some big seemingly dow constellations you go and see just and sculpture and aquarius than some other ones like the northern part of the sky. All set seems devoid. Interesting things to say this time of year or at least in the western sky. We've spoke the constellation scorpius and secretaries which magnificent sagittarius is when looking straight into sort of middle of our galaxy. Scorpius is one of the cost of that. Looks like what it's meant to be this big school Shape is really quite incredible. But they're gonna get lower and lower and lower than my spouse and nelson disappeared from view. "We're talking to Matt Colombo author of a I'm telling you folks who will not be disappointed It's going to be a book of the year Demand behind the curtain by Matt Colombo It's about George Soros's secret network Are you telling me that he's going local Austin races local district attorney races Because his money can make a big difference in the success rate is higher because that makes a lot of sense Yeah but you know the thing is like if presidential elections it's hundreds of millions of billions of dollars to move the needle It takes quite a bit If I'm running in a DA race and a 100,000 people vote in it if you drown a candidate in one or $2 million that is immense success And a lot of these source prosecutors actually are household names You know chase of boudin every week we're seeing open shoplifting in San Francisco That's him That's a source back here Kim Fox who went across to Jesse Smollett He saw us back In fact there was a case last week where there was a gang shooting in public about a dozen people involved She wouldn't cross the committee claiming that it was mutual combat So because both parties wanted to open fire and broad daylight well we can't prosecute that So these are the kind of people he's back

"And what kind of gets people's attention is you know it's again it's 1% up today 1% down the next day and who knows where the direction is as we head into earnings Philip Colombo founder CEO and chief investment officer I'm sure he's got some thoughts These Columbo wealth management joining us on the phone So Phil when you see markets like this again he's kind of significant moves on a daily basis seemingly without much direction How are you framing this market as we go into Q three earnings Yes Well first hello Paul and Kelly thank you for having me on again It's good to be back So we're pretty vocal that we believe that we're in a bubble with risk assets A lot of strategies really don't want to talk much about that But ultimately when you think about the speculation that's going on there and markets whether it's Bitcoin whether it's other cryptocurrencies NFTs valuations of some of these innovative businesses we're at levels that are overvalued So we're in the camp that when you're in a bubble like environment it could go on for longer than people think So you can't try to time when it's going to pop But we think what's prudent to do when it's current environment today is to reduce risk with your equity portfolios right So for example if you have 50% of equities or is it supposed to be in 50% equities and is 65% equities or 60% you got to rain that in and bring you back down to 50% or even maybe get a little bit more conservative So pulling back on equity exposure and then adding exposure to what We believe having cash right now is okay even though it's not paying much but if you're in a bubbly type environment where valuations are rich having some cash available to buy in on any type of dip we think could make sense The way we run portfolios and I talked about this a bit less time is we do use gold we do you commodities and we use intermediate and longer term treasuries and tips So we will rebalance capital into those particular areas as well as some cash All right so Phil is we head into this third quarter earnings season here What are you gonna be watching for over the next several weeks Well expectations are that we had peak earnings already So we think that maybe more disappointments to the downside entity upside based on supply issues inflationary pressures a lot of these companies are facing So ultimately we don't have high expectations for earnings going into the season which could also increase volatility I hear the word stagflation getting thrown out more and more and more Do you think that is an apt description for the environment that we're in I don't I think that we had a big move from the bottom from March of 2020 to where we are today If you think about what we're faced with going forward we have now a fed that probably will take us sooner than longer They may raise rates in 22 sooner than we think because of inflationary pressures The China issues that are going on that could be contagion COVID is not over yet And that ceiling and other high deaths all around the world So when you have a situation like that it's really tough to get strong growth The only area that gives me a bit of confidence is if there is a fiscal build that gets passed and if they can get along and make something happen within Congress that could be one reason I could bring the leg up give us one more leg to the upside here overall with markets But other than that it seems like a lot of challenges in front of us So the asymmetric risk for the market we believe is more sort of downside than to the upside How much downside fill a lot of folks are saying you know a 5 10% pullback in this market would be a healthy aspect to what is otherwise a bull market How are you thinking about the next pullback in this market Again we did it in roughly 5% off the S&P high Is that it or we have more to go Well historically when you get to a point where a fed starts to talk about tapering and does start to taper and move into stimulus plan that takes money out of the economy liquidity out of the economy you could see a 10% to 20% correction If you look historically that's been the case So we wouldn't be surprised for that We don't really try to time markets in the short term we're really trying to figure that out we really feel that's difficult to do That's what we're really believe if investors go back to fundamentals of portfolio management And just say to themselves I have 50% I'm supposed to be 50% of my first half 50% of my money in stocks it's now 60 or 65% Let me rain that in to bring me back to 50% I'm not trying to time the market all I'm doing is I'm selling at high levels not low levels and we believe that's proven to do right Rather than trying to figure out is the market going to be down 10% from year or 20% from here We just think that's very difficult to do And it doesn't make any sense from a portfolio management standpoint Trying to tie in the market is tough but we've seen time and again that buying of the dip always seems to work So maybe that's why you want to have a little bit of cash on hand as Philip recommends Paul Yeah absolutely Hey Phil thanks so much for joining us really appreciate getting your thoughts as always Phil Colombo He's founder CEO and chief investment officer of Colombo wealth management They have about $300 million in assets under management joining us on the phone from great neck New York and a lot of folks feel like there's more to go given all the headwinds that fills us talking about It kind of puts added pressure on earnings season coming up here because when you think about it there is again a lot of and that wall to worry there's a lot of good sturdy bricks in that wall of worry Yeah in the case that the bowl's always make for why equities could continue to climb higher is earnings earnings have been so strong if that isn't the case that pokes a massive hole In that both thesis and it could make for a rockier fourth quarter as we have JPMorgan kicking this off next week Yeah absolutely So we'll keep an eye on that We'll have all the earnings Dave Wilson all over.

Gordon Chang Explains China's Massive Belt and Road Initiative

"Or tributary nations. That will be simply vassals. Is that an over-simplification. How does one belt one road work. What is the global vision for china as it looks at the world coming up to the hundred anniversary of the communist revolution the belton road initiative as it's now called is really started out. As to initiatives there was a belt and these were announced the in september two thousand thirteen there was a belt which was to connect the east coast of china to europe and it was a road which was a water route connecting both locations east coast of china and europe since then Dalton road has been extended around the world and they've added the digital silk road which started out life in two thousand fifteen or so as a separate plan but was incorporated into belt road so belton road is really an attempt to build the infrastructure to tie the world to china now. This gets a little bit complicated. I've never really been too worried about belton road largely because i've tracks long hong kong. I didn't do infrastructure work but my firm did and i can tell you that. All of the economically justifiable projects in the world were being handled by the private sector. What china's doing is building the infrastructure. That nobody else wanted to. Yeah and so and subsidizing it been below market rates. Yes there is a danger. Though and that is we have seen What's called dead trapped diplomacy because these projects are not economically justifiable for the most part but what china has been able to do was to uses position as a creditor to take over control of facilities so for instance it took control of hambantota which is important sri lanka. We know that china has used. Its colombo international container terminal also sri lanka For military purposes djibouti china's really offshore military installation is in a country that has a debt to china that is probably an excess of one hundred percent of its gross domestic product. So that's no coincidence. But the reason why. I've get really worried about belton. Road is because of the bahamas. Yes in the bahamas. Hong kong firm is pouring something like three billion. Maybe a little bit more into the freeport container port. It's also there's a

"Here's the reason why. Our trucks are gravy train with money. That's where all the money comes big semi trucks right. The problem is is ninety. Percent of americans will never own much. And so your investment you're investing your portfolio of investors can be very limited and we wanted to go and build a companies can be worth five hundred billion trillion dollars over. Say ten or ten or fifteen years and if you're limiting yourself to ten percent of the market you'll never do it all right so couple of things there. Just one on interview technique and it's interesting to see me see yourself you know interviewing somebody who then turns out to be a fraud and i had this like this guys kind of full of ish Full of it and a lot of times. I will ask a question on this show and when you see me doing questions where it will seem like. I'm confused and reality. I may or may not be confused. I mean there are times. When i am actually confused and i'm asking you found. Hey explain this thing about nfc's to me or you know. Explain to me your crypto currency project. I don't kinda get her a synthetic biology. There are things. I genuinely do not know about it when i asked the question and i say i don't understand this i don't but there are. Sometimes i'll ask a question and it'll seem like i'm confused. And this is a specific technique. I use to allow the guest to then educate me and by extension you the audience and part of this community. That's what you just saw there. I'm using techniques. And i'm a little confused here. You're creating this business seems really hard. Isn't that business. And then you're gonna take on this other kind of like a lot of work and mrs colombo. If you've ever seen colombo the detective. He has very basic question and he seems like he's a bumbling fool sometime. That's that's literally the technique. I'm channeling there is. Can you explain this to me. And he does and the explanation is probably going to be in this indictment or some lawyer who winds up suing is going to pull the specific clip. Who's in this clip. He talks about the gravy train in all the money they make from their trucks. But that's actually not true. Those are all just letters of intense. There is no gravy train. He's talking about a potential gravy train. Were we anticipate as the gravy train. But i think if the doj were to look at this specific clip they might say. Wait a second. He sang a gravy train. He's misleading investors because any investor who heard that quote itself and i'm listening to it now would think that their money printing machine and there's so much profit being thrown off from it that why wouldn't they create this badger and then he says the reason we're creating that badger is to appeal to robinhood traders which we all know our new entrance into the market. Who are day trading in some cases. And you combine that together. that's the securities fraud. I think that video is an exact example of securities fraud. He's exaggerating he's making a claim that they have this gravy train. A gravy train in anybody's mind would be a train that just produces all gravy money just money splashing everywhere. That's the definition of a gravy train in this context. And then he's pouring that into a product that isn't gonna make money but is going to attract retail investors. A channel robinhood has the retail investors. And they can touch it. This is crazy. He's literally unpacking the scam on the show. It's pretty crazy. Hey everybody harry hurst. Yes the ceo co founder of pipe dot com is with us. And he's going to explain to you. How pipe dot com works. And what a great innovation it is for startups many of my startups of using it. And they do that. By trading those recurring revenue streams with institutional investors that are on the other side of marketplace and then lifting puch annual value of those church in revenues companies can reinvest that calf to windsor growth or whatever initiative they like without having to take on dilution. And you've probably seen we've been called. The the nasdaq for all right. Thanks again harry. And with there's no debt no loans and no dilution. Which is really important to.
