"Philip Seymour Hoffman, who also is no longer around I out I'm very skeptical of this but over some late breaking news here Disney is going to be making another pirates of the Caribbean movie of Ben. What do we know about this? Yeah, like Margot Robbie is going to be starring in this and Christina Hodson. Who wrote a birds of prey is going to be writing scripts. says that Disney is basically developing this concurrently with the other franchise reboot that they had already announced, which has a. Writer pregnant and original pirates writer Ted Elliott on board to write that script, so both of these are going to be developed at the same time. It looks like they're not going to cross over. It says that this project is in early. Development is not intended to be a spin off of the one of the pirates franchise that we know that currently exists so i. don't imagine there's going to be any sort of connection at all. With the with Johnny Depp or any of the other stars there, this is supposed to be a new version at that is also separate from the. The already announced reboot. That is still in the works so. Men, Margot Robbie as a pirate sounds kind of awesome. Chris. What do you think about this? Yes, I'm all in on on Margot Robbie with a seward. I Will Gladly Watch that movie. I. I. I'm curious about revisiting the pirates sequels because I recently revisited the first one and I want really holds up, and so tended to give at least the first two sequels, not the not the non-core bisky. Ones Shot, but I definitely think of all the Disney properties. There's so much room. In the pirates world to to to expand on so this. This makes sense I don't know if we really need to different reboots and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them ends up getting canceled, but. yeah I, I'm not against the idea of Margot Robbie as a pirate. I'll put it that way. Peter do you think Margot Robbie is going to be playing? Read in your just going to say that? When we were talking about Zombie land guys were trying to do a pirates of the Caribbean reboot. I'd speculated back then that. Might Center around read, who is this character who has recently been rebooted in the ride? She used to be I guess a Wench, those being sold off, and now she is a red headed pirates. More Times disneyesque kind of made her a character. That is a walk around character in the parks. Before you know, this pandemic made that not possible. And I think Disney is interest in that, and if you look at the people involved here like it really feels like this is. I I hate to say like because there's so many female names involved that like it's probably a female driven story, but I I kind of get that feeling well. Yeah, I mean. Margot Robbie is leading it certainly so and Christine Hodson. Who is also? She wrote birds of prey. She also wrote. Bumblebee and that was a female lead project as well so it's clear that they care a lot about that representations, important and these two in particular. Are you know have have a good working relationship already? So I think it's safe to say that this is going to be you know with Margot Robbie. Leading the charge, it's definitely going to be a female lead pirates movie. Yeah. Yeah it will be interesting for sure I. You know I am a fan of the the pirates trilogy I I do feel like those last two foam, or the plots to films of that trilogy are not as good as the I I I mean that's not a hot take at all. I think everybody agrees on that but I. do think there's some really good stuff in the second and third film, it's just back to back with a lot of nonsense and a lot of bad stuff. but I duNNO I. Those those were correct me. If I'm wrong, Cressey maybe you know. The spy weren't those filmed like right. When the writers strike happened in like the head like build the set had a script, and all this nonsense at the time. I remember I. Remember reporting on that back in. I can't recall the top of my head, but I wouldn't be surprised because you are a mess so i. Definitely seems possible. Yeah, we'll crazy, so yeah. Marvel's Kevin Feige to visit a galaxy far, far away

"I'm Kim Masters and this is Hollywood breakdown joining me as Matt Bellamy of the Hollywood reporter in Mount. I I I don't want. It's hard to be modest. I had a big story. I'm just going to say it about star wars and it's the irony is I'm hardly an expert what about star wars or the Marvel Universe but even with my lack of expertise. I know enough to know that when marble President Kevin Fi sticks his nose into the star the worst tent. It's a big deal yeah. This was a big deal this week and it's basically the acknowledgement by Disney that the marvel all movies have been an unprecedented success in throughout movie history. I mean twenty three hits in a row no producers ever done that and they are giving a star wars movie to Kevin Fi who runs marvel and I say giving he's going to produce a star wars movie now they're saying he's going to produce a star wars movie with Kathy Kennedy who runs Lucasfilm but if you read between the lines here this is a an acknowledgment that all is not necessarily well in the the Star Wars Universe and they are bringing in someone who has a track record of being able to deliver yeah obviously Kevin Foggy is a big star wars fan. That wouldn't be a surprise to anybody. Who Do you know is has anything to do with the Superhero world that he would love Star Wars and and he has had if they have had big problems in the production of their her films. They've managed to keep it pretty quiet. Somehow make things work whereas with star wars there's just been difficulty and I think part of it is can't be Kennedy's ambition and she you know she wanted to. I think I'm just guessing. She's number told me this she wanted to kind of do a version of what warner sit down with Harry Potter bringing an interesting directors like Cuaron to do the film's but but then it didn't always work out I mean the one of the most dramatic things was in two thousand seventeen. She had to fire or chose to fire directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller when they they were making this prequel film solo because they had a different style it was improvisational and star wars to some degree has so much traditional rounded ear bit locked van whereas Kevin Feige he had the advantage of inventing the world's he was creating sure but this gives us a chance to look at the star wars movies that have been made and while it was unquestionably ably successful relaunch with the force awakens in two thousand fifteen after that you know there was some dicey nece in the universe rogue one effectively the director Gareth Edwards was sidelined and replaced by Tony Gilroy. That was the first spinoff movie it was. A success did over a billion dollars. There was a lot of backstage behind the scenes drama on that film then you had the solo stuff that you just referenced and even on the last Jedi which was successful commercials episode eight there was a lot of fan backlash to that movie because it did things with star wars that were not necessarily in line with mythology. It was a little jokey. Not some people didn't like the Princess Leia all the sudden had magical powers like there were some things that fans didn't like and there was backlash to that movie then on episode nine they had to fire another director Colin trevorrow and bring in J.j Abrams who did force awakens to rescue episode nine so this is not been a smooth mood process even though the films with the exception of Solo have been financially successful. Ma just say it will be a long time before we see the Kevin feige movie because I was told years but I don't know how many I don't mean I think they're I think what they're looking at. Is You know the theme park directions that they that they created are not making the noise and doing as as well as the Harry Potter attraction made so much with such as the Harry Potter attraction was such a success so we're seeing maybe maybe the beginning of a transition. Thank you matt.

All About the new 'Jurassic World' short film 'Battle at Big Rock'

"New story that I want to talk about as well which which is a PC guy saying this tomorrow night during these et Jurassic world short film Jomie model at Big Rock which I thought was pretty pretty cool but I don't WanNa hear you guys talk about it. Instead of wanting to hear the guy he made it talk about it. Will you please welcome drastic world and the upcoming world three three and indeed the director all the big. Please welcome ah the I just want to thank all of you. I brought my children tonight so thank thank you for introducing them to many new words. I'm so sorry so many questions to answer wants dinner so yes colon thanks to lay down man for everything you were born so listen this short film by the big rock very very exciting. What can you say about what's what happened is so the universal came to us and asked if I wanted to make a short film with their money and I said yes definitely we can put dinosaurs in it and we'll do it and so we're not enough if any last film at the very end we really just change the franchise? Even is as we said all these dinosaurs loose in the world and so it led us a just think about what that really means and take a bit of a step away from our weaponized dinosaurs hybrids and all these things that we've been doing in these in these movies and really just go back to basics and and make a short film about a family campground who just like anyone who's been camping. Sometimes you see a bear going through your garbage and we replaced that with an ceratops yeah. We we go from there because I I've seen a little short films in my life almost every single one of them stand to have a dinosaur and it's you're not the besmirch short films but this is the dream just take a dinosaur and then you're good we list of films that I think what would have been even more amazed ashamed with films that I want to have a dinosaur in them. All Jess I found that amazing movie with Robert Redford all his lawsuit aw I remember watching it incredible movie and I was so ashamed that about two thirds of the way through there could be a Muslim source would be okay with that. I would be alright Robert Redford versus versus the Mosasaurus all along the money would be the most horse tough you never know he's very resourceful so when this we shot in Ireland in January January of last year and we managed to keep it a secret the Irish keep secret added stars Andre Holland who many US probably seen in castle rock if that's out here in Selma is incredible actor Natalie Martinez who is an end of watch and his amazing amazing actress and these two kids that no one's ever seen before who I love so much it was it was like shooting in movie we had five days and we all had to get together with this pretty. Small Irish crew one set and find a way to do something pretty pretty challenging in a short period of time with not same resources that we're used to and everyone was down at the buffet every morning which there's an excellent buffet at this point this out at this hotel in Ireland that we're we're all in this sweet little girl who was in the in the short had never been in anything before and we asked her you know she her mom called and said Bull. I oh I get I get get first class tickets to come out because you're guaranteed a first class taking per guild rules but she really wants her whole family there. Is there anything you can do and I was like well what I do with my my family is usually we'll just we won't take the first class and we'll fly. Everybody and you can fly business if you do that and so she said great and so this van pulls up and just one one after another ten people baby and grandma everybody get out of the van and they were Swedish. There was amazing BEC- it coat from winter in Philadelphia incredible but I'd love to this is happening. Do you think this might spark a trend. Is this something that you would have loved to done and for the first Jurassic World Yeah it is the result of a you know I think it's because our we don't make three movies a year in our franchise and and and we don't even make one movie a year and we're we're a little more old school and that we every three years and we ask people to come and see a dinosaur movie and so it to be able to have something in the middle because the story that we're about to tell in the next film is so different and so large in scope that it was. I just really wanted to do something that was that was just very intimate and small. There are dinosaurs in it but it's a small intimate dinosaur fight. What can you say about where you are with the next Jurassic World World we are? I live here in England and I've been here for three years and we have our our offices out at studios and we've got everyone. They're carving being dinosaurs out of of clay. I can announce here that I have. If any do saw the dark crystal on Netflix John Nolan who did all the animatronic Dr Crystal is going to do our animatronic for us and so he's bringing starting to actually build things in his workshop and seeing what he's able to do with is Enjoin Movement and he's really innovating a really exciting way speaking emphasis on animatronic again there are large and small and we actually have an animatronic in in battle a big rock that was done by legacy by the guys who you know Stan Winston's group before they all have carried on that tradition so we had this the massive allosaurus in Ireland and so everybody was my wife actually took a video of it that I'm sure I'll I'll tweet at some point because there's so much so much fun and energy behind it and that we finally we had this this massive thing that was sticking its head in and out of this camper van spoilers spoiler now but people and and it just this whole crew was actually watching this thing go down and you really feel like you're you're. You're in Jurassic Park when these things really get going and we play music and we play roars really loud so there's there's no element that isn't you know firing on all all cylinders and it's pretty exciting. Everyone applauded and we we felt like we were there. Outside of course in

"Is it's so beautifully made and it would have been such a different school says he was talking about this at one more minute completely different film and it wouldn't have worked in the same way like it is a film that is about exploitation. It doesn't exploit and it's it's a camera that looks women women and there's nudity in it but it's not sexualize. It's just it's just it's nudity is so not quite nudity but it's it's so cleverly done because it's all about power and it shows that the agency that these strippers can have and when you know in a safe environment and you know things are going their way they can control their environment to an extent they can make a living out of it. I mean the the dens Jaylo Ehlo does is one of the things I've ever seen in my life but it's also all about power and her power over the baying crowds around her and it's an astonishing visa filmmaking. It's so impressive you you might have locked down but like I I mean fifty holy. He's incredible energy services. We've had we've we've leagues now of of like improbably hot fifty some things in the movies like we've obviously Brad Pitt taking sheriff again in once upon a time Keanu reeves in everything and a now now J. Lo as well. I mean man the pressure to age well things I know what is what I'm meeting. The challenge head on this is one of those movies where you say to people hey guys hustler's is one of the best films of the year and they go fuck off. Oh can't be because it's a movie about strippers trying to crime starring Jennifer Lopez but it is going fuck off. This is a movie about strippers to turn to crime starring Jennifer Lopez. No way can be this good and also we didn't see it until this week usually not a good sign people August..

"Two thousand and nine thousand nine hundred and I have to say the year in case people who are listening listening to this show things and old episode okay so they know it's a brand new episode and they know that much simply recycling an old script from a previous year now as our Prime Minister David Cameron said this week. I can't do it alone. Which is why we're all confident that the country will will choose to stay in the EU and the upcoming referendum now I don't know much about politics by referendum but can't see anyone being stupid enough to leave the EU? Maybe what would we even call that that British exit. What would it be? We had to come up with some weird name for it but obviously that's not going to happen but I do agree with David Cameron and that I can't do this alone so I'm delighted to be joined by three ignored. The extra chair three colleagues of such lethal cunning tonight's first up is our queen a woman who's a a big fan of musical theatre particularly looking forward to checking out this new musical lin-manuel Miranda's Hamilton where she goes to New York later in the EARP. "Colibri when awoken slash on daily for june twentyseventh two thousand eighteen this is slash home editor in chief peter saretta today i'm going to sit down with drastic world fallen kingdoms co writer and producer colin trevorrow to talk about that film we're gonna go full spoiler mode so if you have not seen the latest drastic world movie e might wanna turn this off and save this until after you have seen that you know i recorded this couple of weeks ago the day after the film premiered in los angeles and i sat down with colin in an empty lobby of a hotel in downtown los angeles i intended to do a traditional interview but as you'll hear in my first question call in suggested that we do a spoiler cast which basically means going through a spoilers film so i kind of throughout most of my questions and it just went into this wailers but it turned out pretty well he talks about what he he what the intentions were with the ending of dress a coral 'cause i a coming out of that movie i did think there was a disparity between what goldblum says what malcolm says in that the final scene and what we're seeing on screen and i think trevorrow explains that a pretty well it also he gives a lot of hints of what we can expect from drastic world three in talks about that big twist here is my interview with jurassic world co writer in producer colin trevorrow start at the beginning okay when did he idea behind this film from about but we had a got a beginning a middle and then and we knew the end of the middle the end of this movie which i don't know if this is spoiler caster not do we talk that out of wherever you think what are you okay you know we do that we wanted to structurally to bring this into like a tight constricted claustrophobic funnel of of the vice and then let it all explode and open really wide and we also knew that we wanted to take the idea of of not just a cloned dinosaur but the the emotional needs stubbed go into realizing that you are of another time and place in her and are displaced and struggling with that identity and all those who get to think about the future and you know just the the the idea that these dinosaurs are animals that they have rights and that there's a question as to whether the zurve live with the responsibility to them all those ideas we felt were were the right place to to go in the middle it's interesting because for this franchise we didn't start carrying the dinosaurs until your phones i think the first one and this a lot rate traditionally they've been just monsters right now we're kind of the monsters i mean like i half agree i feel like as fans we cared about them yeah and you know i think i just took that love and just transferred it into the story 'cause i you know we love the t rex and we love those raptors even though we we know they'll bite your head off and it felt like some natural progression to apply that family of to to the character into the world i also think that no franchise can continue or garner anyone's interest in less to character base franchise unless you actually care about what's going to happen to those people for one movie the next drastic at never really had that it wasn't the way that it was built you would you would take one lead from previous film and put them in the next film and get them into a bad situation and they would run away and i knew that there's no way that we could do three movies that again the audience would abandon us and so we we turn it into a character franchise with humans and dinosaurs so when you initially went in to pitch the franken stephen for the first one did you have this whole idea for the trilogy arc or when did that come no that i made no presumptions that yeah i was focused on just how we would reintroduce it to a new generation we would rebuild something without replicating it completely and that was the focus there once we made the film and we got to start asking a question of whether anyone would ever want to see another which i would never assume yeah you know we we.

"Right hd are you looking forward to this i'm one of those who wasn't a big fan of the first drastic world i wouldn't say i thought of it as bad as cancer or worse than cancer like chris said but i was not a fan and a i've yet to be impressed by colin trevorrow yet although i know that yes he was dispaced planning from the beginning and he helped with the structure i think of a dress world too so it was probably inevitable i just i'm not too crazy about the news it's interesting that he is coming back to direct it so he sort of book in being this drastic world franchise very similar to the way that jj abrams book bookending the new star wars trilogy and of course varo had his own run in with star wars where he was originally supposed to direct episode nine and then ended up getting booted off of that movie so i guess he's returning to the fold that he's familiar with that producer frank marshall and the of the people that vara worked with on the first drastic world i really liked the way that he worked on that movie so i'm not sure where the disconnect came exactly with with the star wars scenario but but it seems like he's going to go back to familiar territory here and yeah i mean i feel like our has got some potential and i feel like he's learned a lot of lessons from the mistakes that he's made in the past so i don't know we'll see we'll see how this goes hd it let's talk about adam sandler before we talk about his next movie i guess or potential next movie what are your thoughts on adam sandler as a performer.

"Good with kathleen kennedy and you take her suggestions and you to get along that's great but kathleen kennedy told the directors of han solo no you go do this and they said no we won't go do that and so they were fired and kathleen kennedy and colin trevorrow had a bit of a row themselves with personality conflicts and from what i hear colin trevorrow is difficult to work with and kathleen kennedy was like no you're not gonna do this to me you're out you don't bleep with kathleen kennedy not demented and colin trevorrow may one of the worst films a two thousand seventeen book of henry yeesh so ryan johnson he was told that he could develop his own story he was brought along as a producer working alongside kathleen kennedy everything has to be vetted by the entire story group that's going to figure out how while the comics and the novels and the movies are all going to interplay together and what those stories want to tell all our but yeah i think that he had ideas the he brought to this i mean they go just pick and is like a lottery winner the interview directors and directors give their ideas about what they want to see and a movie and i think what ryan johnson said excited kathleen kennedy and that's why we got the movie yeah i would say that if you feel like there are controversial choices here these are things that disney feels they want to follow one not just ryan okay there's some weird alien porn we'll talk about that i'm shocked to them at disney villa but reportedly ryan is going to do a new trilogy after this reboot trilogy your new trilogies gonna do the next one so they must like his ideas that is certainly a vote of confidence for johnson the gave me good feelings coming into this if they like what he did hear so much that he's doing the next trilogy that's great that said i really wished they'd kept him on for nine instead of bringing back jha fultz we'll talk about that in two years i guess yeah well all see if i like that idea by the end of this film so i buy the plot.

"A much bigger career in like television like just sweden who his movie serenity you know gay was a not a big hit but boy they handed him the avengers and it was incredible so this does work out sometimes that would be a reason to do it in and i think that some of these people have named i certainly think that tyco he has kept his artur nature i think he's kept his independence by making this and i don't think it will be offer him to do something smaller josh sweden certainly turned around and did much ado about nothing and then of course did the next adventures movie and then called the cleanup work on on justice league so this does work and people do go back to doing smaller stuff that is nothing stopping them even you know somebody like colin trevorrow had back in did the book of henry but then sometimes this stuff doesn't work out you're right it doesn't and sometimes it's a disaster like lou what happened to david finch or he was plucked from music videos not really doing anything given a alia franchise and it was a disaster from beginning to end he could get his the movie he wanted made made and he was a a pain in the button so there are people that it doesn't work out for a look at josh tranck oh my god somebody who had the most promising career 'cause he had a movie like chronicle under his belt which already dipped to toe into the superheroes genre and then it was a just the nuclear explosion of problems with fantastic four or you have movies that kind of fall through you know somebody like a great he degree to do antman and he he he he didn't get the movie being made that he wanted to make and got kicked off the project and part of it was because i think he was pushing back from something happened was scott pilgrim same thing happened colin trevorrow getting booted from the start was franchise or the guys who are doing the solar movie before ron howard stepped in so this stuff happens you can get booted out but i that's okay it's better than going in and ruin your career i mean look like someone like mark web he did they may as in spiderman movies after doing independent romances and.

"They hear about some hidden underwater ruins only to find that the turquoise waves of their secret atlantis aren't completely uninhabited so uh yeah more shark action and uh even when forty seven meters down came out i was like this shark attack movie jonah is never going to go out of style like pit this is a formula that people love ever since jaws and maybe even before that and it's it's uh it's surprising to me frankly that there aren't more shark attack movies every year we had the shallows a couple of years ago about one sort of spurred this one on but uh yeah 48 meters down coming soon i really like the shallows allott i'm i'm surprised that film had didn't get more uh play in film twitter um you know i think what's interesting is that in today's ate a day and age where we know everything we have the internet uh there isn't much mystery but when you get into that water we don't know what's underneath the water i feel you add that is like the one of the few things in this on this planet that is still true it's scary yeah that's true yeah amber deep ocean a harbours some of the scariest creatures that we can even imagine being a deepspace l it only james cameron knows what lies beneath insist hd have you seen the showers actually happening michelle found theaters and i i quite liked it to surprising lee um it was just over the top uh can't be fun i even though he really start off of the camp film a definitely became keppy towards the end and i just enjoyed it for what it was which was lively in a bikini fighting a shark and hanging out with recycled names even siegel said yes uh okay so also the news is a we're we're learning more and more about why colin trevorrow lifts star wars episode.

"There done with taking gambles with these filmmakers and assigned to put an old dependable people we're going to make these movies exactly the way they want some degree may yet i definitely heard from agents in hollywood that lucasfilm has no under considering you know new hut filmmakers for star wars that they are looking for you know establish names established talent that you know have a a long track record um so okay yeah let's jump into this y was he fired a hollywood reporter said that script issues have continued to be the continuing sore spot of episode nines development with trevorrow having had repeated stabs at multiple drafts in august jack thorne the british scribe who wrote the upcoming julia roberts jacob tremblay movie wonder was tapped to work on the script and um apparently that script was not good it were working out uh i also talked emit research this a talk to jason at making star wars he has all the store were scoop i want to know what he knew about this and he told me that basically when colin trevorrow zaba writer left uh as you know he um has he's a his working partner that he works with on all his films derek conway who's worked with on safety not guaranteed jurassic world drastic world to book of henry um so when he was booted off the project hugh he almost a trevorrow wanted to leave out of loyalty but they they talked him into staying in in doing this draft with this new guy end apparently you know how the drafters turning out was not what's lucasfilm or you know kathleen kennedy wanted uh i've talked to other sources very close to the production who want to remain off the record in they they say that basically the same thing so this is the stories is that.

"However one and welcome to slash from daily for september v two thousand seventeen this is an emergency addition the podcasts we are in the bunker as some news has just dropped with me today are brad omen hello inge remain loose here back on the slashed from casts wo that aley first time now the i know this is slash the la yes so as front yes it's different event ikea but back on slash come we will delay this as long as possible but in garner say yes minister rate for the safe many years and he is a star wars expert as are we uh bread toast the news out of nowhere today disney and lucasfilm made an announcement saying that uh the studio and colin trevorrow who is higher to direct star wars episode nine back in 2015 have mutually decided to part ways and colin will no longer be writing or directing star wars episode nine now that's a bit of a bomb i uh i didn't see this coming bread did you see it coming i mean i w i'm not surprised that he's been removed but it is kind of shocking that actually did happen if if any director out of this of the lineup we've seen so far tackle movies were going to be removed i feel i call on was the most likely if only because there's a lot of i don't know illwill towards him because of the the opportunities he's been given without much evidence of him being proving himself to be a filmmaker worthy of such opportunities and also because of the backlash from the book of henry it just seems like he's been the most controversial choice that had been made as far as from star wars fans a general sinophile to tackle movie like this so while i am surprised and shocked at a came out of nowhere today i'm not necessarily uh caught off guard by at i guess i mean i don't think studios usually react to fan reactions i mean they certainly having with all this whitewashing stuff uh the book of henry by the way got horrible critic reaction but lucasfilm saw the movie you know before he even started writing stores of said nine uh germain what do you think about this news.

"At my previous placement blaming anywhere i interviewed as we're miller about this sociopolitical implications the film and what i thought what he had to say was pretty interesting here's what miller had to say i definitely think what zimbardo put forward in the wake of this experiment is that when something horrible happens in our society we are very eager to point fingers of blame at a single individual i think that a large part of the i can't breathe and ferguson movement that has sprung up around all of these people's deaths has to do with the fact that this problem is massively systemic we've created a situation of a racist state just like zimbardo created a situation in the basement of the stanford psychology department now we're living in those power structures and when someone acts on the power structure in a violent way we all act horrified the truth is we all bear communal responsibility and the system that we collectively create in society smart man very good fashion cents to and coming out in theaters this friday is the book of henry director colin trevorrow returns to the indy seen with this drama after the huge blockbuster jurassic world and he's also rumored to be on the heels of starting work on star wars episode nine but i also heard this week that edgar rate is rumored to be in the running for director for that which would also be pretty cool bullimore cool the film is about a single mother who discovers a scheme in her son's book to rescue young girl from the hands of her abusive stepfather and sets out to execute the plan at any cost niamey watts place that mommy and rooms breakout star jacob trembling place henry and guess he plays the daddy ordered the guy that does the bad things who plays the pop up the pop pop it's the guy from a breaking bad hank mr naga he what's his name with active that plays hang from breaking bad the ball guy oh yeah he's good he's real good wait.
