"Who are social midst misfits. Who can't do anything but talk about being radio hosts and then publicity people pushing people on you you have no interest in talking to it is nowhere you wanna be. It is the the people watching. There is remarkable. We did the show from radio row in indianapolis and new york and my favorite radio row. Experience would be anthony. Munoz was there and you know poor little cincinnati. They're they're typically. You're not getting the the absolute listers unless you really try anthony. Muna's comes walking by and his pr person who was not from here had no interest in cincinnati. It's anthony moons. An anthony munoz like ways. Like hey mojo. I'm not doing this to pretend. Like anthony munoz in our buddies. He's just he's been on the show bunch and he's like yeah. I gotta go on with mode. Cincinnati in the look. The face of the pr person was just. She's like holding a clipboard. Like well we can squeeze you in an anthony's like we're not just squeezing them. In cincinnati radio virtual radio row could be a part of of that experience other than me. Who else they squeeze on you. So that was the one in new york so we we. We tried to get so. You'll be marvin jones. Marvin jones was making the rounds. Connor borrowing who is great. Peter king was good. Colin cowherd came by and talk to us. He was fantastic. And this was right at the time where people like hated. Colin cowherd a lot because he was sort of anti joey votto in the all-star game. He was fantastic but we tried to. Kevin remember that that movie draft they came out with kevin costner. And we were right behind this dude in buffalo vic carucci. Who's covered the nfl for years. So they gave him an interview with kevin costner. And they wouldn't give us kevin costner and so we kind of like. Is there anything we can do. And they got us like somebody who helped write the film. And i'm like no. We're we're kevin costner bust so couldn't do that. And then indy. It was the first one we did. We were just taking whoever we could get like. We had walter payton's kid would just completely uninteresting nice guy but who cared talking to walter payton. Those dalton and green had just been rookies and we got both of them. They came over and talked to hang together which was really really good. We also rather infamously. Got kate upton but who was back here we had to record like during the break or whatever. 'cause we got five minutes with kate upton and whoever was back here play couldn't hit the record button so it was me literally sitting there. Awkwardly with kate upton.

"That he's been in for a while. So do i think a great situation. Yes but i honestly believe any above average quarterback at this point is going to thrive in the cold situation. It's a plug and play go. This is perfect divorce. The lions view stafford is a savior. He's not and stafford continues to wait for them to get their stuff together. And they can't so it's time by the way if if the colts gave up a first round pick to get stafford. The truth is ballard unless he has a top five or six pack is one of. Gm's he'd rather have second third that are cheaper because they've had great success. Drafting so i mean. There are two best rookie last year. Jonathan taylor the running back in michael. Were second round guys so colts to me. Give the first round. Pick up your roster. Has you probably the left tackle and another receiver. A good roster. I don't love with the niners broncos or the saints patriots is interesting. that's interesting. Although i'm i'm hearing that it's by me. They're looking at mack. Jones which i don't love for the patriots i i don't see the niners at all not not for matthew stafford. So this weekend conor mcgregor and dozen foray met for the second time you have. C two fifty seven mcgregor won their first bout in two thousand fourteen but for ya came out strong and confident on saturday night. He got an early takedown in the first then held his ground against mcgregor strikes. In and then the second rounds he bothered mcgregor with some late kicks before throwing the punches. That ended up in a shocking. Knock out when mcgregor looked older older. He did didn't have the stamina. Quite i mean for us was just came out on fire. He's now in position to fight for the lightweight title. So that'll either be against be if he chooses to return or another top contender but i This is not an old man's sport. That's the thing about ufc. Everyone loses right unless you're but everyone loses so when you do lose it looks so bad and also you got your irish whiskey. You got a ton of money. You're a celebrity dude. Stop taken funches. Go have a life. He says he wants to do boxing. Now and i. I don't know he's. He is one of the greatest sellers of fights in the history of of not just boxing as well. Incredible but he can't personality the selfies. He's not that competitive in this fight he wasn't very competitive against kabibi heap. It only works if you win some. Yeah he just told he could still fight for a long time but like his legacy is pretty cool. Move on. he's going to sell that whiskey company for two hundred fifty million bucks. You'll be good. It's just it's it's very hard to continue wanting to get punched in the face when you're making some money ring joy with the news. It's one thing to have a play design it another pulled out at the perfect time. You don't wanna use your trick. Plays too early. So i haven't seen tampa on this before but it's so smart. It's a late. chris godwin smart kid. He goes in motion very late. He's got full speed. It's third and five. Here's the game. Let's get a first down game over. Watch this play perfectly designed. Green bay's caught flat-footed. They bring it out on the perfect play of the game. He slides game over. But you can see everybody. Pulls i haven't seen them you. I've been watching like rush. Debut of watching tampa bay games all year. Maybe use it earlier in the year. But it's just a great play call. Perfect design the packers. They're just they're just outnumber they don't have as many guys. They're just not ready play. They're all jammed. Up in the box left side quick motion flip it to god when a burner i i love that. I just love that. So i was thinking about this. Tom brady now has more wins since turning. Thirty five than any quarterback ever has career. That's what my staff said. I still don't believe it. It's incredible so playoff wins by the way playoff wins so we can put the new england system crap to bed. Okay can exist. it's nonsense it was always nonsense. He's great that's not to say that you know systems. Don't help i think everybody's got a little bit of a system but there is now a clear indisputable effect that tom brady leaves or comes to your team. There's a number. what is he worth. Not points per game but wins per season. There's no evidence. Mahomes is worth what i'm about to tell you so four different times. Would tom brady so patriots. He's a non starter. They win five games. he starts they win fourteen. He's worth nine win same roster and then remember he gets hurt. Two thousand seven two thousand eight they went eighteen. He gets hurt. Doesn't play them when eleven. He's worth seven and then this year twelve wins. Two years ago lost tennessee in the playoffs. He leaves they win. Seven five don't ask me how they won seven games this year. I don't know and then. The buccaneers seven wins. Now they've got fourteen maybe fifteen at them up folks nine seven five seven. That's seven wins a year. Got four examples. Tom's worth seven wins a year. There is no evidence. Mahomes is worth that kate. The saints went eight and one the last nine games without breeze. Eight one literally almost no effect four examples. Tom's worth almost half a season wins. I mean if you look at this tampa team. Bruce arians was here last year. Todd bowles was here last year. They were highly productive on offense. It was just a matter of cutting down on the mistakes. And this was a turbulent season. They were awful. They got destroyed by new orleans. Once they were awful on thursday night football against the bears they got destroyed later in the season by the saints and then they have bi weeks. You know as trend dovers at the voice of brady just kind of this systematic chamber of brady preaching the.

Do the Dallas Cowboys still have time to fix what's broken?

"The cowboys aren't quite as good as we'd like. They've struggled to get going to the season one and three through the first month but even Jones believes the team is. Right on the cusp of turning things around. I just think we're not as far away as it seems, but we do have a lot of work to do and we're very confident in this football team. In spite of what we saint in the first four games really believed we've got a great head coach, great staff and a great group of players that will get the job done. This is why I said that Atlanta win. Was Not a win to me I understand that there are a win column lots call sure we don't have world victories. We don't have almost one. It is what it is. Right. So they got the win, but there was nothing about that game that they should've felt good about all this. Oh, you know we rallied back and we can look back on that for inspiration. The fact that game. is by by a lot and the football God's blessing. You that day happened if you won that game yes you should not walk away from that game feeling good you. You should have lost that you lose a game you should win win a game you should lose virtually every year something happens out of your control and that's fine but don't get crazy here the cowboys should be oh and for. That we're not completely freaking out about the cowboys is because they're one and three, but they should be oh for. The problem with the cowboys is clearly their defense the first in yards per game third in points per game their defenses thirtieth and yards allowed per game and lasts in points allowed per game. Why are they? So you know those numbers over deceiving, why do they start in a hole every game? They do get a lot of a lot of I. wouldn't call it garbage time but they have to. Throw. So much to get them back into the game. So there is a little bit of a this option to those numbers, but I still don't think that the offense is there prob no I don't either but but I will say and this is this is what happens when you're the Dallas cowboys with you know all the all the the America's team label, and you know being the biggest brands in all of sports comes of expectations every single year and the. Do have a new head coach this year in two, thousand, twenty and a pandemic. Shorten season no preseason. We don't look at the cowboys that way because of the Dallas cowboys because you still have back Preston, you still the offensive coordinator but they are one of those teams that we probably need to give a little bit more time to get going they play the giant. So there's your little time. What we're not going to get them time. But like we've talked about it before the season started, there's GonNa be some teams that are going to struggle early because they didn't never preseason because they do have a new head coach or they do have a new quarterback. And but that's just not patient we're in these days. Now to your point, they play the giants next then the cardinals and the road at home and then at. Washington so they could get. Rolling, if you will. But again. What are those opponents in? How good are you really going to? Win Games that are on your. Feet Washington in New York in. Arizona. So we're all GONNA go out it figured out but the Problem Dallas. The last three years is they went a lot of games. They don't beat the right teams.

Dallas Cowboys Offensive Line In Flux Due To Injuries

"Have lots of talk about as it relates the cowboys I just what I think of this team this year and the expectations after Jerry Jones finally made the gutting decision that led to Jason Garrett showing up the building every day with a binder underneath his arm and dutifully hoping that he would. Get a stay of execution cowboy fan celebrated not only the draft pick a CD lamb but a coach was skins. Mike McCarthy hasn't exactly translated into the season that they had hoped for, and we're expecting some of it has to do with injuries bobby and we'll get to those in a second but a lot of teams are having to deal with injuries this year. Yeah. I, mean, the team the cowboys have up here the browns they've got a lot of injuries to deal with I. Mean The seahawks had you know a lot of patchwork stuff that they were doing last Sunday against the cowboys and so injuries are an excuse they're not necessarily a good excuse though for this cowboys team I think they, they definitely are missing some guys. They probably feel a little bit like we're not gonNA know who we are for real until probably mid October when randy gets reinstated fully you get hopefully late and vander aeschbacher. Corner start getting healthy so. It may be a situation where the cowboys are kind of you know we're GONNA fight and we're GONNA get as best we can until we get healthy and that's not necessarily an excuse that they're giving. It's just this is the way it's gotta be, and we kind of make do a little bit because they are decimated in the secondary. They've had issues at linebacker they've you know had the issues along the offensive line they lost jar when they're starting tight end and So I, mean they've definitely. Had those issues the thing that they don't want. You, you can't really do anything about injuries. You just adapt as best. You can the thing they don't want his they can't have. Three drops and you know two and a half yards per touch from Zeke Elliott. They can't have Jalen Smith missing tackles consistently and still be sixty million dollar guy they can't have. Dak Prescott turning the ball over. They need to have him protecting the ball. They can't have you know some of these. Occasional Amari Cooper focus drops. You expect injuries you deal with those. What you can have is all of that and then along in the secondary, you can't have guys just making really low I q reads and busted covered just stuff that doesn't seem to be a factor of trying to learn a new defense. This just seems like flat out low I q stuff of not recognizing who's assignment is who's You know I think back to Jalen Smith's comment to a about. Throwing it out through a little bit. Maybe they need to simplify the playbook if our fans aren't familiar with that one, let's play that one real quick. People, find beams the defense could innocent the group. Absolutely. Absolutely. I. Believe. Allowing more allowing US more opportunities to Hound in on what? We're actually going to run in in our game plan. I believe it's important. That each and every player knows in and out what they have to do. With a smaller playbook, you you know gives us better opportunity to do that. And like I said this about as growing each and every week. On coaches are the same page, the players on the same page and we're just trying to do whatever it takes to get that much better. Each and everyone is that players that aren't capable of learning the playbook or is it possibly too complicated? I don't know but I, got to tell you for all the people that wanted Rod. Marinelli Outta here have been overly impressed with Mike Nolan's defense. Again, injuries are an issue, I mean you lose Gerald McCoy loosely Van Deresh. You lose your to starting Corner Anthony Brown, and Lucy, but even they were healthy in that first game. I didn't think this team look that good. No, and you know it's again it's one of those things where not even a mention he's been healthy for the season but Jordan Lewis missed all the camp. I. Sale. Yeah. Exotic Woods was a big part of your problem last Sunday against the seahawks but I think overall everybody's got to step up. You know it's funny. We had Had the funny line during training camp. When asked him do you think about opting out at all and he said, Nope, contract to your baby and there's a lot of guys back there right now in contractors Jordan Lewis Cheeto you've got exertive your woods is another one. And it's fascinating that they're seeming to have these issues not just with again, the adjustment or or or skill players opposite them it's they're just dropping the ball in terms of. Knowing really basic fundamental stuff that that should have been all ironed out already and and you can say, maybe that's a a an issue with you didn't have some of the same lead up time or some of the same work that you would normally get but everybody had those same sort of issues and and not everybody is having these same sorts of just busted coverage touchdowns. I. Think there's four already on the year that were just left wide open by somebody not knowing an assignment including three last week against the

Allen Lazard played through core muscle injury

"The packers are dealing with another injury at receiver Allen lazard reportedly had a core muscle surgery this week, and we'll be out indefinitely last week against the saints as at the best game of his career six receptions one, hundred, forty, six yards, and a touchdown with Davante Adams out demonte is with a hamstring injury he was limited in practice yesterday drafted Ryan receive on. They sure could have if you'll be able to play on. Monday. So the wide receivers remaining on the packers active roster are Marquez about as gambling Taylor and Darius Shepherd who was signed off the practice squad last week. Good news for the packers with all these injuries they're hosting the Falcons this week.

Boston Celtics Dismantle Raptors In Game 5, Take 3-2 Series Lead

"So the Celtics dominate. The Raptors in game five last night's put the reigning champs on the verge of Elimination Boston never trailed in the one eleven eighty nine win and how to lead his biggest thirty points in the third quarter. The Celtics starters outs for the raptors starters by a staggering ninety, three to forty five, and now they have a chance to punch their ticket to the eastern finals on Wednesday leading the series three to. The gave the raptors a little bit of life with that last seconds walk shots they should have won that game and then the series would have a little different look to it I I'm really kind of surprised at how the Raptors of looked in this series though I thought. Played. particularly. Well. They've really they've really been very. Unlike the raptors very down. There, they haven't had their consistent player but walkers for Boston. Yes. But Boston also has been great defensively, which is which is why they look the way that they do in the series is gone away has gone I obviously, I think the Celtics are going to win this series now, but it's just kind of a very. There's the raptors just looked. Completely unwrapped her life is very dysfunctional throwing anything up it didn't look great last night.

Los Angeles Lakers, Clippers Vote To End Season Following Boycott

"So. Let's go back to You know I was saying Chris that Lebron James over the course of the last twelve hours has changed his mind three times. These are difficult decisions he wanted out. He wanted to think about it and then he wanted to play and I said I appreciate. Lebron's willingness his lack of rigidity, his willingness to listen and talk, and that's one of the reasons I like Lebron is that he's a curious soul. In curious people, wear me out. Are you surprised that the players did? To play according to reports this morning. I'm not yesterday all this news was breaking and we were talking about it on our Radio Show Myself Rob Parker I felt like the most likely scenario was that they would start playing within a few days But then when the reports came out about the clippers and the Lakers, last night not wanting to resume the season s when I started thinking. Okay. This season really it truly is in jeopardy because obviously as you don has said in the meeting, you can't have the playoffs without the two best teams in the Western Conference so that got me skeptical but I figured you guys would go to sleep sleep on it and get up not quite as emotional as they were last. And you know I think what what I wanna hear is are there any I don't even know if concessions is the right word but have the what of the players talk with the owners about because remember the brand said in the meeting reportedly that he wants the owners to be held more accountable and the owners have a lot of power you know I've. Seen on social media, people criticizing the players saying, well, what what's boycotting the League going to do the League is not the one against the players I think the power is in the owners. They are very powerful people in this country very wealthy. They have connections at the highest levels of American society. They can be in touch with lawmakers yesterday think about it. The Milwaukee Bucks Basketball team was able to get the attorney general and the Lieutenant Governor or zoom. Like that that was done by the Bucks Owners would look at Robert Kraft Robert Kraft got he went to visit meek mill, the rapper and said in prison and said, he shouldn't be here two weeks later meek mill was out of prison audit charges were dropped the judge when the case had been changed the Rick Ross Jay Z. Philadelphia Eagles players Kevin. Hart, they had all been trying to get meek mill out of prison for five months. Robert Kraft missing says one statement and he's out in two weeks. That's the type of power that these owners wheeled and the players are beginning to understand that. So there are people that are talking to forget defunding police there what about abolishing some of the police unions? In, the owners could talk to talk to police commissioners achieves about and perhaps done only half police after the police belong to the Union. Anyway. But that can be a hindrance to justice. So those are the things I hope that the players will address with the owners say utilize your power or our behalf, and we'll play the game, and hopefully that's the kind of discussion. Go all throw something out at you. I heard a story this morning I thought was brilliant the Indianapolis Colts. Registered every player to vote yesterday and I thought that is that is incredibly bright. How about this owners around the NBA. You can now not only registered to vote in the arenas, but you can vote inside the arenas. If we're absolutely to me, that's an obvious one like really for the for the average guy like you and me not a billionaire for the average guy like you and me are powers in voting that's really where our power is. So make it easier to vote. So I wonder if that's been discussed the voting issue. I would imagine a has especially remember Lebron's got the voting. Initiative he put together. So I'm sure that that that's the case we saw I think in Houston, they're opening up the arenas as voting site they should all the arena should do that. Make easy on the people whose votes have business suppress historically to get out and vote, and they don't have to be there. All Day is as simple as it is for the people out in the suburbs.

Some Conferences Postponed Football. Not So Fast in the South.

"You're joining us for the radio audience blog. I think college football, which I love is become to regionalize the last ten years and when I see the decisions being made, it feels regional. It's the SEC in the big twelve Texas in the south they just want more and they're going to bulldoze through it. I mean it is what do you make of what is happening which is the academic West? Big. Ten's got some academic powers as well. They see the world one way and the big twelve in the sec another is that a good or a bad thing for the sport. Well we, used to celebrate differences. Right, I mean we used to. But now we're so divided in every way I think to thoughts comes to mind calling in is I've covered this game after playing at twenty five years ago. That it's become much more hostile between upper campus and lower campus all around the country. When I played I never felt like the academic side was it issue with the with the sport side of it but sports has become so big become a billion dollar industry become so much exposure in fanfare and so much the brands of these universities and there's a lot of upper campuses that don't like that that don't want that that that would probably do away with football frankly many of the academics folks say, no, we don't need it. I. Don't like how our brand is being defined by our football team other celebrate it, and certainly in the south in the Midwest in the ACC in. Many of those parts, they celebrate that that brand has become such a big deal. Secondly, this goes yes. He see goes if the SEC plows through this in navigates through this in navigates and Nimble through the ups and the downs and the cases that will inevitably come and they put forward and play the ACC in the big twelve will follow the minute. The SEC. In this situation says, you know what? We just can't do it. We just can't test it at the rate we WANNA test to protect our players were out. Then you're GonNa see, I, think everybody else in college football follow suit.

Redskins undergoing 'thorough review' of team name

"The Redskins released a statement in the light of recent events around the country feedback from our community. The Washington Redskins are announced the team will undergo a thorough review of the team's name. This review formalized the initial discussions. A team has been having with the league in recent weeks, Dan Snyder, owner of the Redskins, stated. This process allows the team to take into account now the proud tradition and history of the franchise, but also the input of our alumni, the organization, the National Football League and local community. It is proud to represent on and off the football field. Ron Rivera, the new head coach. Quote. This is an issue of personal importance to me, and I look forward to working closely with Dan Snyder to make sure we continue the mission of honoring supporting Native Americans in our military.

"colin cowherd" Discussed on The Stinkin' Truth with Mark Schlereth

"Over under at Fox Bet or Vegas why maturity. Nobody doubts. Their talent. So I've said this before Baker made so many missteps medical staff. I think was do Johnson. He called out he had so many missteps. The downside immaturity. Is when you struggle, people bail on you sooner. If SAM darnold struggles this year for the jets Adam, Gates will be fired. Because, darnold had no misteps. We think he's a good guy in a bad organisation. Questions now about is Baker a good guy. And whether or not Baker or Sam, have you know a a disparity in town? I like Donald more than Baker, many disagree. That be over under on Cleveland their. Win Total is not an indictment on Kevin, Stefanski. It's an indictment on Baker's maturity I mean, but you can look at the talent of New Orleans and the talent of Cleveland. It's very similar. They're over under win totals eleven. And I think a tougher division. Why because we know brees is an adult. He'll synthesize it. He'll. He'll corral it. He'll make it all work same Seattle. Why is Seattle's win? told higher because Russell. Wilson's a grownup. He'll make it all work. What Vegas is telling you on, Cleveland, as we doubt the, we don't doubt the talent we just don't be. Baker can make it work now. I think there are a playoff team this year I just think they solved their two issues coach and tackles. Those are the two issues they were really could they're the worst tackles set in the league. That's not even debatable and probably the worst coach so I think if if both are CDC plus. Their playoff team I. DON'T I. Don't buy Pittsburgh this year I think Baltimore. Is GonNa win the Super Bowl and I think Cleveland is blast him. Now you know who my favorite Dole is you? All right I look forward to the time when I can get on a plane and come see you. I hope that clears up, and that opens up soon, but you're the best buddy. Always appreciate jumping on your show. Thanks for jumping on our program. Hi, guys, good luck all right? There is the Great Collin Cowherd, and we appreciate him joining us. Immaturity boy, that's that was interesting what he had to say about just how the maturity of your quarterback and what it can mean for individual team like I saw Philip rivers the other day. Say that he is. Quote aggravated that. People think that he's done. I don't know about you. I think Philip rivers is going to have a really nice resurgent year with the Colts I think the colts will benefit from his maturity. I know you don't always think about maturity with. Philip rivers all the trash talking, but he will definitely bring majority to the colts, no I don't think I don't. I'm one hundred percent with you on. I'm on board with that. I think you know it's interesting to me because I. I did I did some charger game I did HR game at the end of the season? Right and you know you look at you. Go back, and you start looking at film and one of the things I did is I went back and looked at all of like all of his interceptions right and there were there were several things that stood out to me. One is the chargers had had all kinds of injury issues of wide receivers. They had the offense of line that was in a shambles right. That Melvin Gordon didn't wasn't there. The first eight weeks of the season whether withhold out like they had had quite a few issues in that regard, and it was really interesting. Because Philip rivers is not, he's not getting out of the way right, and he's at a stage in his career where he wasn't going to get hit in the lips, either like he's like. Hey, ain't doing that like Nah. And it was, it was wild when I started looking at all the interceptions that put all his interceptions on film, and just kind of looked because everyone of them has an Peyton. Manning's this once. Every one of them has a story, right? Every intersection has a story, but ultimately use the quarterback. You're the one who endorses the check so like it down to you, but every one of those things has a story and. If you start looking at them all, Mike. Some of them are I'm not going to get hit. I'm not taking one of the lip so I'm gonNA throw it here and I'm GonNa give my guy a chance. And if somebody breaks on the ball, so be it. And there were a bunch of interceptions where they're trailing and he's just trying to make a play, you know. He's thrown a fifty fifty ball up and the defense. The defender comes away with it like there's a couple of those that I look at it and go. Hey, man, if you're down by ten or fourteen that that never happens, you know what I mean, so there's there's some of that that goes on there, but I look at this situation. With the Indianapolis Colts and I did a any idea. Colts game when you talk about Costanzo and Nelson and Ryan Kelly and Will Glow Linski is is out there right Dr J.. Smith is become a much better place like their their their offense of line is outstanding are big time. Moreland Mac can really play Jack Doyle and trae burden, the tight end position, T. Y. Hilton they went out and drafted Pittman from us. Think around like Jonathan. Taylor the running back out of Wisconsin. They are a talented group, but the biggest thing is Philip rivers is got to. He's got to beat you from the pocket, and he has he. He's got that ability. There's no question. HAS THAT IN SPADES? He couldn't play from the pocket last year. Philip rivers is not going to Outrun Philip. Rivers reminds me of woody from Toy Story. When he runs, it's like. Snake in my boot, you know like he's not getting away of anybody so I think this perfect fit for Philip rivers and I agree with him, and like like he is going to have. This total resurgence if you will for all the talk about what Brady's GonNa, do in Tampa I..

Lamar Jackson, Ravens QB, lands cover for Madden 2021

"So the mark Jackson announced he will be the cover athlete for Madden twenty one is only the second ravens player to ever be on the cover ray Lewis was on the cover in two thousand five he was asking he was concerned about the infamous Madden curse and he said I'm not worried Patrick Mahomes was on the front and he wanted to be P. so I want that curse at left to follow the path of M. V. P. then the Superbowl homes on the cover last year after the MVP season then obviously we know what he did this year winning the Superbowl so maybe the Madden curse is over but that seems appropriate yeah mark Jackson will be on the cover people are tweeting out clips of him doing Maddon type moves and I mean we haven't we haven't seen him play in a while obviously because it's not football season but man he's he the league isn't such a great position moving forward the quarterback position across the way that it's evolving it's so fun to watch and quickly I got out and now like there in six games later they're ready to play and highlight any and he's just he's such a thrill to watch because he not only puts these incredible movies and I he gets out of bounds are down so good at avoiding the head home to that it's just you can watch without that that horrible anxiety of like he's going to take a big hit he knows how to to get that actually got to get out of bounds

Draft date set; Goodell warns of public discussion

"Roger Goodell sent out a memo tonight. I'm recording this like six o'clock tonight. The memo basically said the draft is happening. The date is not being changed so just proceed as normal given the circumstances in Roger. Goodell's memo this what you have to wrote the draft. He served a warning to those around. The League criticizes the League. Stance goodell wrote public discussion of issues relating to the draft serves no useful purpose in his grounds for disciplinary action. I love that that to me reminds me a lot of David Stern. Listen we can all be critical of Roger Goodell over the years. He's done some stupid things. But that's that's what the commissioner needs to say. The corona sucks for everybody. We're not changing the draft. Shut up about it and figure it out.

Browns' Garrett reinstated after helmet-hit suspension

"The NFL has reinstated Browns defensive end myles Garrett You may remember. Garrett was suspended indefinitely after ripping someone's helmet off and hitting him in the head with it was that wrong shouldn't have done that. Visit frowned upon Danza. Yes This was on Thursday football back in November so this suspension ended up really being six games. that why that's what my question was going to be to you. Is that enough of a punishment for on national television ripping a quarterback's helmet often hitting him over the head with it. I think more punishment would have been making play. Wait for the browns. The rest of the year so Yeah finally like it was. It was bad yes embarrassing yes. Was He punished. Yes we over yes. I'm getting there also is. I mean I'm surprised. They may be ruled so quickly could have waited until June to renew. There's nothing really going on right now but by the Thai comes back right now I mean look the the only reason I would hold that suspension to be longer now is I believe he made up the racist thing and I would punishing more right I would. I would be but that would be an additional because what you don't know that I don't but like you don't mention it immediately afterwards to anybody you you had the microphone in your hand and all you had to say was look. I'm not gonNA say what he said but he said something that set me off. None of that was mentioned so I would have been okay with an additional suspension. Because that I believe he made it up. I believe he made it up. There are play other men around and only he was the only heard. It didn't mention it until a couple of weeks later when he was going before the. The Commissioner's office trying to get out of it. He claimed he went racial that one I would have held the suspension the greater but six games like whatever for whatever reason. It's okay to make up that that. Why do a racist just just just note K one? You can't take those things back that you said to I. I know that social media wants to believe that there's this high level of white racists out there there's not we are ridding them slowly slowly from the earth or at least from America much. It's like we're ridding ourselves of people who say Washington instead of Washington

That just graduated from college your number one piece of advice to that young listener would be what well. I'm always reluctant with advice. I give opinions because my life is in. Your life. It's further left. It's crazy town. It's over reactionary. Produce your own own content based on your values. Your principles and your intuition do not go to twitter and think that everything they you think a big deal is a big deal. It's not go with your heart. Go with your gut. What are your buddies talking about when my buddies and i would would go for a run and they stopped asking about tapper nick. I stopped talking about kapernick. The rest of twitter talked about it to this day like don't listen. That's that's not a slight. Nobody none of my friends who are in business where most of my friends are are on that thing all day. It's overwhelmingly hollywood the media people so you know. Don't you know my my daughter asked me something. Every day. We were talking about the difference between brands and followings. I see what arizona state and i say you get the girl that looks great in a bikini and puts it all over social media. We'll get more followers but nobody wants. That is a brand new corporations hiring her as a brand 'cause they hire her. You go to her social media and she's naked on her instagram. I said don't be consumed with followers. Consume boom with your brand. What are you telling people. Who are you like. What do you stand for. Don't worry about your find out. Give how many followers i have on on twitter but i have a brand name and a play to and you know my daughter and i got into this conversation and i'm like you to call up in followers. Live live thirteen get up shower out the door by five thirty three twenty minute drive twenty to twenty one minute drive a lot get in but my contacts him <hes> <hes> grab a hot coffee go down five fifty five secs till about eight fifteen eight twenty do crap go in get my hair done a little light makeup. What was your prep consists of so from that six to eight fifteen process in the morning on the west coast which is like nine to eleven fifteen ish shy guess on the east coast. What is that prep consists of. <hes> the prep consists of about seven eight people in a room a little bit like a sports bar. The smart guys know drinking and <hes> i come in with my thoughts on stories. I've got a guy funny guy <hes> to stat guys to to producers and anybody can have an opinion. I talk out loud. I write notes people say <hes>. I'll say hey listen. Give me andrew luck numbers his third year in the n._f._l. I'm writing notes. I've got a couple of pens yellow markers this and that double underlying things. I wanna pop on the air. <hes> you know yellow all things the transition commentary i've got my own little way my own little maze of verbal cues and visual cues i have and then we just you sit there and for about two and a half hours. We just <hes> kind of do a show before a show. <hes> i kind of believe that you have to take the audience somewhere every segment <hes>. I don't have to make you happy you can. I make you laugh. Make you cringe make you think but i gotta take people somewhere. I hear too many sports radio guys that turn it on and they're just you know shooting the bull and they they're not as funny as they think they are. They're not as captivating. They're not going anywhere. I believe you give me eight minutes. I oh you you you're going to work. I owe you eight f._m. Minutes of hard work. I'm not mailing it in. I oh you you've given me an opera. You've you've come into my store. The least i can do for you. The consumer is to have eight minutes of thoughtful commentary on something. Take people somewhere. Tell the story so we don't go into a segment not having an idea where we're going. We may sound like sometimes. I'm just add living. Robin williams sounds like he's ad-libbing. Robin williams knew he had a forty two minutes set. Newer it would start the middle of the end. <hes> never forget you know. David letterman didn't write those jokes. He's performing jokes written so the art of it is. I just add living here for three hours but it to me to do a simulcast radio and tv. If you don't have crap you don't take the audience somewhere. They can't simultaneously coexist and work now when you have a show and this is interesting. Do you have like for instance. I'm gonna do lock it in and we do lock it in every monday to friday out there who don't know how television works. We have an block doc. Which is the open of the show before we go to break. We have a b block and we way out the entire show so we know exactly where we're going for the entire hour. Do you know where you're going all three hours. There's of your show by the time you sit down in the chair. Yeah played out just like just like it would have been when you did speak for yourself or when you did sports in asia. Yeah i kind of know where i'm going now. What i do is i do all my crap and then i tell my staff i say okay. I generally know my lead and i tell the staff you put them in order. You guys are producer. You tell me what you guys think are the most interesting to the least interesting so i let my staff do that. I'll do the prep. I usually say this is the lead in in fact the first two stories of the day the first ten minutes. I'm usually like this is what i feel strongly about then i kinda let the staff tell me you know. Give me a list. I never asked.

"They're all this brett farve of coverage and sometimes you can get seduced by the elite right like i think rupert murdoch says be wary of trying to make the elite happy and and then i got the data and i'm like holy cow the minute. We put up anything about brett farve people. Click on it so fast. It's like their mouses would break back in the day. You know you're sitting there on the computer and the same thing happens happens with with social media and what people are able to click through and it's so frequently what they say they don't want. They actually do have heads than seeing it. Yeah you know i have an advantage so most radio shows were simulcast. That's a big advantage so every day the following day on cable i can get minute by minute ratings okay so i know it works and i know what does is it so if something doesn't work back to back times i get rid of it. I used to use something called hunch and lunch and it started deteriorate and it was too much about me and not about the audience. I bailed bailed on it. If i bail on something it's not working. If i keep doing something calling right calling wrong. It provides a number every week so i don't have a problem looking at my rating slash polling like a politician and saying the audience doesn't like it listened. Who arrogant would i be to say. I am smarter than the audience despite despite the fact they don't care. I'm gonna keep jamming this product down their throat minute. My audience is tired of something. I stopped talking about it. This past a year. Lebron got hurt. You know and i talk a lot of lebron but i went to manhattan beach. That's not working. Let's make this work so i think you have to be willing like like i don't want to be one of these guys that make some money money and figures. Oh i know all the answers i don't i've literally received tweets and emails through the years from listeners and been like like wow that's really interesting and implemented that businesses. I'll take information from anywhere. It doesn't matter if a if a caller hits on something thing in twitter. I don't need to respond to twitter. Sometimes i'll go through my twitter and somebody will make a point and i'm like god. That's a really good idea. That's really out of the box. Nobody in my industry does that so anywhere anywhere. I can get information to get better. I will you know it's interesting because i say the advantage that i had in analytics from a writing perspective was i saw immediately media the site traffic when i started my own website in a way that i don't think either early on writers were paying attention to or anything else and it's is not rocket science right what you get that people respond to you. Give them more of it and then you figure out how to keep giving more and more of it and what i would say is television is actually kind of work this way to now. If you put on the news you get two or three biggest news stories over and over again right and a lot of people still do radio okay. There's there's ten twelve segments in a three hour show. I'm gonna do ten or twelve different stories and that's a disaster because people don't care about ten or twelve different stories. Don't you know there. There is the <hes> i remember when i took the local portland tv job. I replaced a really talented guy named steve bartlestein. Steve is terrific. How much more talented i was he he went on to c._n._n. I and new york a big star in new york and he was a big believer in cover. Everything and i i remember my first meeting. I said we're covering five things things. Were going a mile deep and that's what we're doing and that's always worked. Well you know people say a lot of things. I do not watch porn. It's the only thing that makes money on the internet. "You you're listening to wins and losses. I'm clay travis. He's calling cowherd when you get that job. How much do you think it mattered that your initial job in sports sports mirrored in some way some of the things that i think you'd be curious about later in your career. Which is you're there on the business side and you're there on the content side right so from the get-go you gotta go out and sell at the same time that you're doing this. Play-by-play which i think makes you aware of the money behind your content in a way that frankly a ton of people who work in sports never even really grassed well. I think it's my first girlfriend in vegas was named lawry herron she he was <hes>. You could probably look it up on google. She was really really super smart. As she was so smart we used to play jeopardy she'd run through the board and until it got to a sports sports topic and i'd finish that <hes> lawry herron she was miss south dakota at one point and i met her in vegas and she was a sales person and i talked about once every couple of years really bright it really done well for herself and she was in sales and i was in sales. That's how we met and when i got into radio she said you know. Don't be one of these idiots. Talk radio like be good sales. People like understand we're working for. You and i've never forgot that <hes>. I really think all the time about my boss is an iheart or fox. I am not here to be subversive. You know a lot of sports writers <hes>. I don't even have to mention names are subversive their anti management and i've always worked with management. You know my my takeaway is. They're trying to make money off me. Why be a jerk. Why not lubricate the situation. Why agitate it so so i've always worked well with my g._m.'s <hes> an intern. I've gotten good contracts <hes> over the course of time in my career. I've gotten a lot of beneficial relationships a lot of things augmented because i get along with management and sales <hes> i don't you know i i guess sports. Writers have a different sort of take. You know oh they they. They sales is evil but when you work in radio sales is you're on the sidewalk man. You're doing live remotes at <music> bar. 'cause the bars paying your bills like like you and i like you know the radios different. There's a different sensibility to it so i think i've always had a sense because i started in sales. My girlfriend was in sales and she was always in my ear like you know some of these deejays would deal with d._j.'s like they just don't get it. You can add hundred. This was like thirty years ago. She i can make another hundred grand a year. Just don't be dope in when you have to meet clients yeah it's interesting you mentioned that because i would say my kind of eye-opening moment in the world of understanding sports came when i was doing local radio in nashville and at the time i was making forty five thousand dollars a year for a three hour daily show.

All spam is going to be offended by this. I am very Canadian and I take that. I wear it as a badge of honor friends. I didn't mean it as a negative. I just meant it as that's who you are, Rachel banana joining us. So do all the cast of characters. By the way, if you're sick of me, don't worry. So as my son sick of me, my son before he went to sleep last night, he goes, dad, can we? Can we go play basketball in the morning? And I was like, sorry, but I gotta fill in for college where. Calling calling. What isn't he work? What is it? You don't worry. Cowherd is back tomorrow. Apparently he's selling lots of stuff. Excuse me back Monday. He's selling lots of stuff. If you read the LA times anyway, let let's get to. We have news of the day, breaking news. One of the two first round draft picks of the New England Patriots. Tore his achilles tendon possible placement price for Nate older. We'll, we'll talk about that coming in. The show has some thoughts for you on the statement made by John Elway about Colin Kaepernick and the picture that it paints as to the real reason. Capper Nick is not in the league, and I do think that the patriots look good last night. And I think there was a point that they were trying to make either they made it, we'll get to that upcoming. But let's start with the New York Jets who played last night in a preseason game after a week of of scrimmages with the Washington Redskins and Sam darnold looked okay as a starter. Okay. Okay. You know, he was sacked twice. He threw a pick. He was okay. And yet considering the duress he was under considering he's playing against the ones from the Washington Redskins considering how quickly he got and disseminate the information coming from the sideline got in and out of the huddle. If you actually watched seminar, looked like he's going to be able to get it done. He, he looked like he is going to be able to make. But he was also under pressure. They didn't have their starting right guard that didn't have the starting left tackle. I want you to don't do this if you're driving, but if you're sitting at home, watching us on f s one, close your eyes and try and picture who the skill position players are for the New York Jets. You might be able to name Robbie Anderson only because Robbie Anderson said some awful things to a police officer when he was arrested once Germain Kirsch like, oh, I can't remember didn't he play for the Seahawks once Terrell Pryor used to be a quarterback and used to be a Redskin as well as Brown. Outside of that, the tight end group is about as bad and his no name as you have in the National Football League. Matter of fact, if I told you Tomlinson you like didn't LT retire after he was a jet after he was a charger? Yes, that's not the Tomlinson. Isaiah Crowell never lived up to his hype coming out of high school below Powell. Yes. And Thomas roles. Okay, I do that is that is a no name group as possible. If Blau Powell or Eric comes in was sitting right there on that couch and they told me who they were, I would still say, congratulations. What do you do for a living. When I tell you that you shouldn't start Sam darnold. If you're the New York Jets, it has nothing to do with Sam darnold. He is. He is kind of an old soul, right? Just turned twenty one. He only started a year and three quarters at us. See, but he does feel like he has a balance about him..

"It's best for last after almost three hours Colin apparently hasn't gotten to the point yet. Quit home out on us coward it's the best for last. All right. There is a report that Carmelo Anthony is going to sign with the Houston Rockets. Now he's coming off a year in Oklahoma City where he fell off a cliff career lows in minutes per game. Assists per game points per game. Field goal percentage, free-throw percentage. He looked out of shape he looked lost. And when somebody suggested that he come off the bench in Oklahoma City because they had Paul, George and the head Stephen Adams and they had Russell Westbrook and they had better forwards. Here was his reaction. How do you feel about starting at the four or the cause of the starting at four or even come. The bitch in the second question to me. I, I don't know what that started when I came from. Got to come up bitch. I mean, that's that's always been Carmelo Anthony, not a ton of self awareness. I honestly believe who you surround yourself with is really important. LeBron continues to make really good decisions almost never, no trouble. I mean, the big controversy is the decision where he gave a million dollars to and Girls Club. Mellow. Has surrounded himself with people who give him horrible advice about this. He breaks into the league, having won a national title. At Syracuse. He was a better offense player initially than LeBron James many thought he should have won rookie of the year. So he comes into the league and he goes to Denver, and whereas LeBron is scrapping in Cleveland. Mela wins fast. They win quick. They get to the Western Conference finals quick and they've got nice players around him and Carmelo, Anthony, somebody convinces him, no, you need to go to the worst run team in the NBA New York, and not only that instead of being patient for three months and just going to the Knicks he forces a trade meaning the Knicks team is going to have to give up valuable assets to Denver, meaning joins a worse team. Then he gets a New York and they hire Mike dental need who makes everybody better. Everybody is better off with Mike dantonio. Everybody mellow gets him, can't get along with them and forces him out. And now he goes Oklahoma City where they've got a great rebounders. He didn't have to rebound Stephen Adams and they've got a very good athletic guy plays Defense. Paul, George witted net Blaney defense come off the bench, a great player and he laughs at it. So the question is now he's going to Houston, and is he willing to come off the bench, which is what he should do? Again, mellow is just made terrible, terrible decisions wanting out of Denver than not waiting three months and forcing a trade which forced the next to give up draft picks and players and pieces, and then getting Dan Tony, a perfect guy for him because he likes scores not Biggs and he forces them out and now he's going to Oklahoma City and he can't get along when it's a really easy place to be Westbrook will handle ball handling. Paul, George plays defense even Adams rebounds, come off the bench twenty two minutes score make a lot of money when games make the playoffs, help your shoe deal. And I was going to Houston, and so I want to give him advice, ROY, talented guy. I think he's been. I mean, key is surrounded himself with people who give absolutely terrible advice. So with that, I set down in Panama heart felt letter. Dear Carmelo. I know these past few years have been very hard. It must be tough to hear people saying star of your caliber should go sit on the bench. So I wanna tell you, go sit on the bench your days a starter over the only times you should use the word star is when you're hiring appetizers at Applebee's. I know you think it's embarrassing to only plan half the game could come on. Have you seen how you play defense? You've been playing half the game, your entire career. In closing, I have one hope for you Carmelo defined team that gives you the support you deserve and by support. I mean back support from folding chair, your dearest friend Colin cowherd. I think that was very heartfelt. And I think when you put that over a beach, it really adds a layer to it of heartfelt nece really. It's very, very sentimental. Yeah..

"Welcome back to the heard. I'm Chris Bruce Auden Jason McIntyre. We're filling in for Colin cowherd today. And yesterday our guests will be coming up in a few minutes. James Harrison, former Pittsburgh Steelers, great two time SuperBowl winner with the Steelers. He asked him what the difference was or if Mike Tomlin Steelers coach was as detail oriented as Bill Belichick. Here's what Harrison said is needs to be more disciplined. Some of the things that they do coaching was for like some situation that we were in when we were there as far as time management calling of defenses. We have situation where we had double defenses because you know one thing was said, someone said something, no, so you got have to defense plan. One defense of the hapless on knows. So you get situations out there where it looks, it looks bad. Like this guy doesn't already doing well. He's just playing a different defense. Probably on that played in what the other half of the defense was pointing. That's a no, no inter days. I'm a Mike Tomlin fan. I like him. I think he's a very good coach, but I'm saying you can't have those types of miss communications and expect to win mini Super Bowl. That's what I mean. Okay. What you think about Harrison? Yeah. I walk in the halls here. He whatever he wants to anybody. All right. I'm far I'm being honest. I want him to be honest. But my point is you saw again as much as I like Mike Tomlin the lack of attention to detail. That's what James Harrison talked about. It's evident whether it's the defense's playing two different schemes or I mean, remember last year when they played the patriots in regular-season you're going for home field advantage in the AFC playoffs. And they just completely botched a situation at the end of the game. Where remind me of that, I lost a lot of money or Steelers fan. I lost a lot of money on that game. No, but that's what he's talking about. And I think that's legitimate. Let me just say this, Chris, and we talk about this in the NBA players can't win when they say or do things house. James Harrison, gonna win here. If he said one here one, maybe he retires. Fans are bashing him, oh, how you going to say that? Listen to reality is a better coach, Mike Tomlin. Nobody. Much light on timely, but so Harrison's getting bashed for saying this, which I think is ridiculous. And if he said Tomlin's a better coach, he would get slammed for that. So he can't really win here. And I guess what I keep coming back to us. We talked about this earlier. You got a ten year relationship as Harrison did with the Steelers ten years. You pick that relationship forever. You got a huge body of work, sixteen games times, ten years. You do the math. He spent four games, I believe with the New England Patriots won in the regular season. And I think the playoff games, it's like, you know, you can't really nitpick four games versus spending ten years in Pittsburgh. Sometimes there's nothing to nitpick if you, I mean you've been, you've been dating a girl, who's you know? She's okay, right. She's ten years. Okay. And then you Holly berry for four days. Do you have to data for more than four days a singer praises. You don't have to be. Sometimes there's nothing. Ping what's there to nitpick, what's New England. Listen, a lot of people think Bill Belichick is too hard on players disposes them quickly. The only guy that matters airs really, Tom Brady, that's been the one fix vinyl, inverse,.

"That's right. It's time for the heard and I'm Chris, Bruce are with my man, Jason McIntyre with Gregg to be here. Chris, it's always going to be all with you. We got some great topics and we start off with our man changing LeBron James Healy, we're gonna start with LeBron we go start win LeBron as we do every day on the hurt when Colin cowherd of course, is hosting. But look, I think there's a new bureau in Los Angeles all know the story about how the first mirrow LeBron James was destroyed was banned is fate by faced by Kobe Bryant fan. But now there's a new winning. I gotta admit, I think it's more appropriate. I like the numeral like the old one, but I get why the fans of Kobe Bryant. We're upset about it, but I love this new one I think is great. And. The question that I have is what does LeBron James have to do to get up there on top of the Muira with Kobe Bryant Shaquille O'Neal Magic Johnson, Kareem, Abdul-Jabbar Wilt Chamberlain one quick note they left out the logo. They left out Jerry West, which was disrespectful and just wrong. I would put him in over Wilt Chamberlain, but I got no problem with will. But Jerry West should have been on there. But the bottom line is what is LeBron James have to do with the Lakers to get on top of the mural rather than standing there looking up Chris, those great all-time Lakers murals. We talk about murals Urus not a game, not a game, you, Chris. Here's what annoys me about this whole mural situation. Okay. For starters, LeBron looking up at Kobe, Shak magic. I'm fine with that because when he takes a sable center every night, he's gonna look in the rafters and see the jurors. He knows he knows on the, but what really gets me about this mural situation is it is it feels like Lakers fans are living in the past, you know who, and you know who lives in the past Chris losers guys who walk around where in their highschool, letter jackets. So you're missing about zoo. Never Yana high school. Every man when they were dominant and they were so great. Chris, I just don't sound like a hater. Well, I'm not. I'm not hating. I just don't get the mural looking back like think about this. Look at it this way. LeBron James and the Lakers are going to great that we know that they're going to be right and in life, I like forward momentum. Okay. I don't wanna look back at the past of magic and shacks on here, and it's okay forward in life. We need that forward momentum and you can't just make leaps to, okay, LeBron winter title or two or three, and then he's going to be on par with them. You need incremental gains, Chris. Think about this. I know you started working out a lot more recently, right? Start lifting at the gym seen you in there. You getting big Advil lifting says as great doesn't show, but I've been lifting since so you don't show up at put up two plates, take it all the way of slowly start with a twenty five and work your way up. This is step one of LeBron's Laker path. He's on the right path. And I think by your two or three, you get to the finals, you take down. What I believe is the greatest dynasty in NBA history being Golden State Warriors. And I think at that point, we're not gonna have any discussions about LeBron and. Of the question, did I not do that? What does LeBron James have to do to get up on top of the mural with Kobe shack, magic Karim will in a year or two now because he's in time with your later. It could be four years, which is contract is it could be five, six hour long continues to plan to retire with the takes.
