"Behind behind the scenes at an air show with a performance airshow team that we sponsor cut the lightning formation team. And does we. We hope that inspirational to these are all people that it Have Regular Day jobs. They're engineers or they're entrepreneurs or flight test people have airline captains and and yet they fly general on alleviation aircraft. Still they love that so they've either built their own airplane because they're all vans RV's or they bought a home built airplane and they practice and they've done you know The learned learn to do this formation flying. Actually they were the first team to get what's called the dynamic card in aromatic Performing and so we do a day behind the scenes with them. And that's a lot of fun too so we're trying to just bring content that we think the audience will enjoy. The others aren't doing. We're not trying to be a news channel or something like that. We're just trying and to really showcase all things that are fun about aviation the people the business in the adventure of aviation so having a lot of fun doing it like the you're a ride in the pits and Doing a little bit of aerobatics up there because in the camerawork is great. Because you can you can see you in the you know in the the forward cockpit and the Ma- major general behind you and the the smile on your face. The you know the the grin of joy on your face is just priceless. He really kind of kind of captures what it was like to be in that in that Pitt said you ever flown in anything. Anything like that before. I had never flown in a pitts before. I have done aerobatics a couple of times before but my first time to do it In in that kind of airplane in that plane and it was so fun again The major general. Hank was a former thunderbird pilot. And he's still flies aerobatics routinely. That's his plane so So he yeah you know it was fun to have him kind of talk me through the maneuvers and got to fly them to But yeah it was. It was absolutely a blast other than the the episode with the pits Possibly Do you have a favorite from the series You know there are. There are a couple of episodes. Where if our hand Canterbury talks about some of his military career and particularly the one where he talks about some of the things in Vietnam again he was a fighter? Pilot Vietnam flew over three hundred combat missions tours John and so I think Stories like that are really interesting There's one that's coming up. That's still in the edit That that I found particularly quickly interesting and and again lifespan global company and so I have customer relationships all over the world and so I was in the Czech Republic. It was my first time to go to the Czech Republic and we have a dealer there and at ten called. Bur no which is about a two and a half hour train from Prague where I was staying and just the whole thing of being in the Czech Republic was relieved it very invigorating. It's just They have a proud tradition of industry and a lot of aviation tradition and many people who listened to your program. Probably know that it's actually kind of the center right now for light sport. Aviation aircraft manufacturing in the Czech Republic. You guys probably talk about that so anyway so doing a story worry about this young guy. He's got a ten million dollar. Your Business Now And he's like in his mid twenties and he started when he was on high school by importing one. GPS unit Unit into the Czech Republic and figured out. He could make some money on that. And so just you know having having a chance to kind of do a profile on someone like that to us really really fun and interesting so their stories that I think are interesting. Hopefully you know other people find them that way too. So were these videos to do this project. Was that your idea it was I would say it was my idea. But it's part of a bigger initiative that light speed is now doing to produce more content video content as well as written content so on our website site speed aviation dot com We have a blog page there and we have Authors that contribute to that one of them who's done several articles is a gentleman named Colin Arrow who among other things has a lot of glider flight time he's a CFI he's In the commemorative Air Force Wing Northern California or actually in Reno and And he is a kind of expert on mountain flying and doesn't FAA fast team. Some are on that. And so he's done like a mountain flying series which has been one of the most Red Ed pieces of content on our blog side. So it's just we're trying to be more relevant in in ways in addition to the awesome products that we make and Um and so it's so it's it's kind of part of a bigger strategy makes sense. They're enjoyable videos there. Well produced And they're interesting topics in there not too long. I guess most of them around. I don't know that you would say about ten minutes right. I think they average between five to fifteen so yeah so it's is a really nice. It's kind of a sweet spot for you know for for this sort of thing you don't have to Invest a ton of time to get Some some enjoyment out of it. One one thing we wanted to talk about a little bit is the light speed aviation foundation and We we've talked about this in the past but it's been quite a while so Perhaps perhaps you can give our listeners a little bit of a refresher on the foundation and some of the activities that are going on. Now I'd be happy to sure so the light speed aviation foundation is really an outgrowth of our founder Allen's heart to want to give back to this community that's been so amazing to the company and and And that we love so much the end so the foundation was founded in twenty ten and over the course of the decade Has Kinda gone through some different evolutions and supported reported different things and had different programs right now. The foundation is largely focused on initiatives that are designed to really grow the aviation population poppulation Or provide incentives to do that and so The foundation has a COUPLA programs with asap a associated with the rusty pilot program. And the you can can fly initiatives Trying to get people back in off the sidelines who might have stopped flying for awhile and then and then another program with EA which is the race associated with the ray scholar program and We're super excited to be part of this because it the So you know Mr Ray left after big endowment to EA and part of this is that there are Scholarships available for student pilots young people that want to become a private pilot or make that for stepping their flight training and so they get sponsored by a chapter one of their chapters will Chapter gets approved. Be Part of the program than they have one of the the people that They decided to sponsor is eligible for a ten thousand dollar scholarship. So it's a pretty good sized chunk to get you on that route and once that student pilot it makes the first cell impasse as the written. They get ally speed Zulu three headset as As part of the incentive for that training so it's been awesome. There are ninety chapters actors right now that are have a race color. They're working their way through and A large number of them have already gotten to this point where they've qualified for their headset and so we're getting a lot of social social media result to that but it's also just a great way to again try to provide an incentive the best way we can to To you know to encourage people to stay with it and learn learned to fly and be involved. Yeah that's fantastic It's always great when you see companies investing in the future not just of the company per se but of the industry of the interest or whatever So it's It's a really commendable thing. You mentioned products a little a bit tools. Let's talk a little bit about Light speed products. We see that flight link has a Is that a recent update. I guess we did make an update recently recently earlier in the year and then just again at the at once Iowa's thirteen was released and Flight link is a APP that lights be introduced in twenty twelve uh-huh so if you guys remember that the IPAD was introduced in twenty ten and immediately became a tool that pilots. You know fell in love with and began to use and Soleil speed began fantastic itself. Hey you know is there something in this world that would make sense for our customers on and we make premium. Active noise reduction headsets. And and we thought yeah you know what people would like to be able to record their flights and so the so. The APP started out that way as basically turns your iphone your ipad into a cockpit voice recorder and and when we introduced another product had discontinued but called Zulu PF The APP then was able to control more things but right now the flight link works with basically any headset that was produced after twenty twelve In this cockpit voice recording way and And so a couple of things that are really interesting about that. Anybody who's doing any kind of training or student pilot or recurrent training or something like that can record their flight suit debriefing tool afterwards But also has a pretty cool feature in it that you can Get an instant playback on anything. That's happened in the last two minutes so also too if you've gotten a quick clearance or if you're like me might be talking and you think is up my tell a number you can just go and click on that and and listen to it real quick and minimize maybe number times you have to say say again or to the controller but we also in this most recent release added at a feature that Max Trescott actually asked for years ago which was That we now can transfer file Via Airdrop so if you I think Max media's at once in a while he can weigh in training but if you if you know if the instructor has recorded the flight you can just airdrop then to the student and then they can have the recording of their flight to listen. Listen to later you remember. It was me if we put that on the road map and it took a while but we did it. Yeah Yeah I think a lot and what I found was that I would have to then sync with my computer through I tunes and then you know sent find some way to file. Share it with someone was just a more steps than than I thought we needed in. Oh Yeah it's great being able airdrop because now you know you just do it right after the flight there's nothing more that has to be done later And so yeah thanks for doing this creature..
