I appreciate it. It is a pleasure. Let's do what we do at the beginning of the show, Colin. Could you please introduce yourself? It would be good to hear a bit about your personal and professional story. It's an interesting one. I've had a look. What have you been doing in the lead up to getting involved in StealthTest? Yeah, certainly. So as you mentioned, I'm Colin Woodward. I'm president and general counsel of StealthTest, which is an API -based software platform and developer toolkit that features private test networks for most EVM -compatible chains. Right now, we're live on Ethereum and Polygon, Moonbeam, Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova, and we have a couple of new networks that we're adding just about every month now in two to three -week sprints, so very exciting there. I guess to kind of reel back things a bit, my background is actually as a corporate lawyer by trade, one who was very interested in emerging technology and kind of just markets in general. And as you might imagine, emerging tech plus markets, I quickly found my way to crypto in 2017 and actually kind of was introduced to crypto and perhaps a common fairly way that many people might encounter it for the first time. I was working in a large law firm at the time, and I shared an office wall with a colleague of mine. And one day in 2017, during kind of one of the previous bull cycles, he kind of popped in my office while I was busy at work, and he's like, hey, you ever heard about this crypto thing? It's really big right now, and I think you should check it out. And I said, Dave, I have no idea what you're talking about, but feel free to have a seat and share what you know about crypto with me. And so we chatted for a bit.

A lot of great stuff on this one. So be prepared right after the break. It's time to put your thinking hats on. We got David Othram, David Middleman from Othram, ready to go. "Hello everyone! Welcome to your weekly tech update, the show that explores the newest, coolest, and sometimes mind -boggling side of tech available on the interwebs. I am your host, Ray McNeil. Coming up on the program today, Google Meet video calls are getting a Zoom -like layout. Impossible Foods rolls out to nearly one thousand new grocery stores and supermarkets, and will take your mind off the world and put a smile on your face with this week's Moment of Joy. That and a whole lot more coming up on today's edition of your weekly tech update, next. Google Meet will undergo huge changes over the next few weeks as the tech giant rushes to make it a more viable alternative to Zoom. To start with, the video conferencing tool is now directly accessible from within Gmail for business and education users. Those who prefer Zoom for its gallery -like layout that can show up to 25 participants at once would probably be more excited to get another feature coming later this month. Google will roll out a new layout option that can display up to 16 participants. There's already a Chrome extension that can mimic the Zoom feature for Meet, but its official release means there's no need for a workaround anymore. The company will also enhance Meet's video quality in dim lighting and its ability to filter out background noise in the coming weeks. In addition, an upcoming feature will allow users to display a specific tab open on their Chrome browser during a call. Zoom recently enjoyed a surge in popularity due to a shelter -at -home order, but it suffered from various privacy issues that has prompted a lot of organizations. including several school districts in the U .S. to ban it outright. With these changes, Meet could become a new decent alternative to Zoom, especially since its premium features are free to use until September 30th. Artemis must infiltrate an ancient underground civilization of fairies and track down the Oculus, the fairies' most powerful and coveted magical device, to pay the ransom. In a statement, Branagh said that Artemis Fowl would be as proud as I am that families around the world will now be able to enjoy his first amazing screen adventures together on Disney Plus. The media conglomerate is betting that Artemis Fowl will draw more subscribers into Disney Plus, which surpassed 50 million paying customers worldwide in its first five months of service. That's been buoyed by its recent launch in India and eight Western European countries, along with the early release of Frozen 2 on the subscription service. In the U .S., Disney Plus is $6 .99 monthly, or $69 .99 for a one -year subscription.

"We all have those songs that we wake up singing, or songs that once you hear them you can't get them out of your head whether you want to or not. Years ago, when I was in country radio, there was a song by country singer Colin Ray. I think it was actually written by Phil Vassar, another country singer -songwriter. It's called Little Red Rodeo, back in like 97, 98 I think, it was a big hit, Top 5, something like that. Every time I heard it, it was one of those I couldn't get out of my head. Fast forward a couple years later, I'm not playing it anymore on the radio, I hear it on some other radio station and guess what, I'm stuck hearing it in my mind every morning for kind of like a week. It's kind of like Groundhog Day. The other day, I was listening to a classic country radio station out of Gadsden, Alabama. I tuned it up and what was one of the first songs I heard? Little Red Rodeo by Colin Ray. Now of course, that was about a week ago. What do I wake up singing and thinking every morning now for the last week? Little Red Rodeo by Colin Ray. It'd be one thing if you were singing songs and thinking about songs that you really truly liked. Sadly, it's still stuck in my head. Woke up singing it again this morning. It's kind of tough when you got those songs going through your head that you want to get rid of, but you just can't.

Woz Happening!!!!
A highlight from Phone Booth (2002) (Thriller/Psychological Thriller) Movie Review
"What's everyone? happening It's Kira and Ben back again. Today, we're doing a user suggestion phone booth from 2003 starring Colin Farrell. So I saw this movie when it first came out and then I had not seen it again, and re -watching it for this podcast was an absolute wild ride. Ben, let's talk a little bit about your history with the film before we get in it. So I never watched it. Naziru Wanda from Ghana suggested it, and this is my first time actually watching it too. This is your first? Okay. So I knew going in, I had remembered the main plot points of this movie. I had forgotten a lot of the other plot points of this movie, and I forgot what big of a cast this has. So our main man, Stu, is played by Colin Farrell. Our main police detective is played by Forest Whitaker. Colin Farrell's wife is played by Rahata Mitchell, and then his wannabe mistress is played by Katie Holmes, and then the voice over the phone is Keither Sutherland. So a wildly large cast for this film. Obviously, this movie has come out post 9 -11, which I think you can see a lot in the blue tint of the film. If you guys look at color theory, and we're not going to talk about color theory too much about this because the movie is so wild, but if you look at movies that come out directly after 9 -11, there is this very odd bluish tint to a lot of them. I think in my heart, like when I've done research about this and what I've viewed from it as well, is when you're watching films like this, I think it's because it kind of portrays this surreal sadness that everyone was feeling. Kind of like when you look at films made in that time that are set in the Middle East, they film everything with this yellowish tint to make it seem more like third world. So I thought the bluish tint of this movie was so insane, especially having it be set in New York. Then when I was doing some research about the film, this movie was actually supposed to be released in 2002, but it didn't get released until 2003 because there were actual sniper attacks in DC that delayed the release of this film because this movie is about a sniper terrorizing a man in a phone booth. Like I said, first time seeing it and the character of Colin Farrell reminded me of the character from Fast Timer at Ridgemont High that was selling the tickets. They mimicked each other. I was sitting there going, wait, I'm expecting Spicoli to walk out any second. I mean, they were just to the T, the exact same character. I was like, whoa, what's going on here? Yeah. I think that character is such a classic archetype of asshole. I think that was the point. Colin Farrell is this publicist. He's a liar, he's a slick talker, he's a fast talker, he dresses well, he uses people, he manipulates people, he doesn't care, he's all about himself. We see this in the way that he treats his assistant. We see this in the way that he treats one of his clients, which was an uncredited Ben Foster. I was losing my mind when I saw that. I was like, Ben Foster, what are you doing here? Then he manipulates the owner of a restaurant. He smooth talks this client that he has that wants to be an actress. It's Katie Holmes, she's a waitress. Then he even smooth talks his wife into being like in the beginning when he's not confessing his crimes. So this movie is so insane and I do not want to rag too hard on this movie because it was a user suggestion. But the plot points made to me legitimately no sense. So the pacing of this movie is incredibly fast. It's only an hour 20 and I swear to God, if this movie was longer, I would be like, Keith or Sutherland, shoot me because I can't handle it. So obviously, Stu goes into the phone booth to call his mistress because his wife tracks the phone calls that he makes on his cell phone. Which I was like, first of all, if you're keeping tabs on like your, you don't do that unless you don't trust your husband automatically. Then it comes out later in the film that they've only been together for three years married for one. So they're very new in their relationship. So Colin Farrell goes in to make a phone call to Katie Holmes. You can see he's trying to be slimy and she's rebuffing him. She's like, no, I have work, I have this. He's like, well, let's do this. He takes his wedding ring off. Very just much not a nice guy. Then that phone call ends and the phone starts ringing so he picks it up and on the phone, dun, dun, dun, is Keith or Sutherland's voice. He starts terrorizing him and being like, you can't leave this phone booth. If you leave this phone booth, you're going to die. A pizza man comes up to him and tries to deliver a pizza to him and he's like, you're a dick, I didn't order a pizza. Who orders a pizza to a phone booth? We have this other sub -storyline of sex workers, which to me was the most pointless storyline. I get the point of the storyline. So we have to have him have this interaction with these sex workers to then get their bouncer involved, to then have Keith or Sutherland kill the bouncer and frame Colin Farrell for it. Which first of all, makes no sense because you can see the bullet marks on the outside of the phone booth. So how is he shooting? How is he shooting? How could he shoot? That makes no sense. Then everyone's like, he killed him. It's like, no, he didn't. So this sub -storyline is so insane because first of all, it's like 2003, so you either have a beeper or a cell phone or you're using this phone booth. If all these girls work in this club, that's right across the street where this bouncer is, that Leon, that they get involved, why can't they just use the phone in the club? Why are they terrorizing Colin Farrell? He's just like, let me use the phone and then they're all screaming. I thought it was such a weak portrayal too, such a cop -out portrayal of sex workers. Like very, I don't know, just like what you would think of when you think of a man -written sex worker. Just loud, brash, unkempt, very, do you know what I'm trying to say? Yes, I'm a street kid. So yeah, I hung around with the prostitutes and drug addicts and drug dealers. So I totally got it. I mean, I saw people that did act like that, but those are the ones that were really hooked on drugs and were just like, half the time when they were acting like that, they were on something. It wasn't like a normal way for them to behave. Most people don't want to draw attention to themselves because they don't want the cops on their ass. Exactly. So this dude dies and Kether Sutherland is like, look what you made me do. Actually, he's like, you had me kill him. The guy was like, no, I just want this to end. So Kether Sutherland is, in his own mind, a pioneer of justice. Entrapping these men that he watches somehow, he watches and listens and convinces them that they're either going to die or confess to their crimes. So the two examples of the people that he has done this to before, I view are actual bad people. We have a director of adult films who actually directs child pornography and is a pedophile. So I'm like, okay, deserves to die. Then we have another man who's an insider trader on Wall Street. I mean, you don't have to die for that, but it is like a real crime. Then we get to Colin Farrell, whose crime is wanting to cheat on his wife and being an asshole. So to me, none of these make sense. The first two, kind of get. The third, Colin Farrell, not at all. I get it because they're trying to make him more likable. We have to be on Colin Farrell's side, right? So if he's a real criminal, we're not going to be on his side. I wasn't on his side. But you know what I'm saying? He's our protagonist. So we can't have our protagonist be as awful. But at the same point, it's like, well, then maybe you should have just had him kill adulterers because this makes no sense. So he, in his mind, Keither Sutherland, is this vigilante that is cleaning up the streets in New York because he wants people to atone and commit their crimes. So he's holding Colin Farrell hostage. Forest Whitaker comes in. He's trying to negotiate with Colin Farrell. He thinks he killed this guy. He's like, let me help you, let me help you. Up until this point, they think he's armed and dangerous. It is not until Colin Farrell's wife, Kelly Rahada Mitchell, comes in, which for some reason in 2003, you can just run through police barricades and just be like, I'm his wife, run through police barricades, and then be on the front line with the cops. I'm sorry, that never happened. No, not at all. No, they would have her pushed to the side. She would not be in a hostage negotiation. It wouldn't happen. She would not be front and center to the point where he can put a mark on her. So then we see that Forest Whitaker kind of actually comes around to see that Colin Farrell is being terrorized. He is not doing this of his own free volition. He sees the little target on Rahada Mitchell and he's like, oh, OK, maybe this guy is like real. So then they start looking for him. They're like, OK, we're going to find him. We're going to find him. Colin Farrell's delaying him. And the guys and then obviously Colin Farrell comes clean. He's like, OK, I'll come clean. Like, I don't want to die. I don't want my wife to die. I don't want this girl who I want to be my mistress to die. So he confesses all his sins of being an asshole, which everyone's like, OK, you're a dick, whatever you're holding up the street. We got half the police force here. What? And then obviously when they think that they kill the killer, when they think that they kill Keither Sutherland because they go up to the apartment where they trace the call from, it is actually, plot twist, the pizza boy. And it's like, OK, so he's killed Keither Sutherland for this one person. Two people just sacrifice them for no reason to get this guy to confess that he's a slimeball. Feel like we could have done this a different way. And then so then another so we're going to get to all the insane points. But this is the end of the story. And this is the last insane point. Or one of them is that Colin Farrell is now alone in the ambulance. They put something in to make him fall asleep. So he's all loopy. He's all daisy. And then active crime scene in an ambulance. Keither Sutherland walks up and just starts talking to him just like, oh, like you passed the test. You did it right. Like what happens? Like and OK, so he's like talking to him like, oh, you did the right thing. You did the right thing. And Colin Farrell is like, what the fuck? I thought we killed you. And then he walks away. And the last thing he says, which I think is legitimately the stupidest thing. And if this is the point of the movie, it is the dumbest point when he goes, well, if a phone rings, do you have to answer it? I would say no. I would say no. And that is the last line of the film. And then it goes into this like ringing sound, goes all the way out into the satellite shot, goes to black, and then you hear another person pick up and say hello. So it's like obviously this is like a cycle for him. But the way that he picks his victims is makes no sense to me. Yeah, no. And if a phone rings, you don't have to answer. You don't have to answer it. Look at all the things like when a stranger calls bad. They picked up the phone, bad tidings, scream, scream, picked up the phone. Bad tidings. No, you don't have to pick up the phone, especially like if you don't know who the person is. Hang up, hang up. And I did think at some points the voice that Keith or Sutherland used did sound like the ghost face voice, like to the point where I was like, do they have the same voice actor? Is this even even Kiefer Sutherland? Like I was like, this movie is so bad. So I thought a lot. So let's talk about Keith or Sutherland's character. And I obviously am not a fan of this movie, but I thought the way that he was poorly written was like they were trying to make him like John Doe from seven, kind of this vigilante who lives by his own rules, has his own code of justice and kind of is enacting on that code of justice and terrorizing these people. I think in seven it is done much better with an actual point, with an. We have fully fledged characters. We have reasons that make sense in this. We have no back story. We don't know what he why or why he's doing this now. And you think you think they're given a back story when he when he's talking to about Nam and stuff and he's like, are you stupid? I'd be 70. Like and like I'm like, so who are you? Why are you doing this? Well, what is your point? I mean, did you just one day wake up and say, hey, you know what? I'm just going to execute people I feel are bad. I mean, and that's your concept of bad. And your concept of bad is another person's concept of good. I mean, it's like when people go to war. Yeah. The countries fight, but each country thinks they're right. Of course, there's a right and a wrong. But both countries think that they are the right ones. Of course. And the only one that actually like comes out to be the right one is the one that wins, is the one that wins. And I would say in this movie, no one wins now because everyone's motivations make absolutely no sense. I would say the only motivations that make sense is Forest Whitaker's, because he's literally just trying to do his job. Yeah. And then like I was watching when he's his his rapper talent comes on and I was like, what the hell is this, Malibu's Most Wanted? Oh, my God, I thought the same thing. I was like, why are we watching Malibu's Most Wanted? I was like, this is this is this. And then it looked really bad because they get these two big black guys and this little tiny white guy. And he looked terrified to be around the black. And I was like, this is so stereotyping. This is awful right here. It is awful. It was so stereotypical. It was like someone just kind of grabbed at archetypes that they see in pop culture and was like, yeah, we'll throw this in the film. So I also thought the film was shot horrendously. There is it felt like it wanted to be a Tony Scott film, which RIP Tony Scott, I love your films. But it had this kind of like shaky camera. We're switching in and out of views of like like digital versus like these split screens versus like this like granule kind of like VHS effect. And I was like we're like fast paced moving through the city. And I was like, this movie makes no sense at any point. Did this movie make any sense? It does not. No. Like I said, I thought the character was the guy from a fast time at Ridgemont High.

Mmm for all the trash we've ever talked about her and frankly it's working because I just Blew a tire on the way here to work. Is that a euphemism? No, no, I blew a tire and I lost my checkbook Mmm, you were at the grocery store. They rang everything up. Mm -hmm You're standing there looking and they were then they said you have to pay now and you want oh and you reached in your purse To get your checkbook out. I reached in my front pocket of my shirt and then you're like, does anyone have a pen and Twelve people under the age of 75 behind you rolled their eyes inside Mm -hmm, and they had a pen but it leaked all over my hand. They gave you the evil eye big Thanks to our pal Dave Bruce and the old folks at how stuff works calm For this bit on the evil eye what we in our house call the stink eye Yes, also, thanks to Antonio Paglia Rullo Who is the author of a book on the evil eye the evil eye Colin the history mystery and magic of the quiet curse? Dave talked to a lot about this because not only did Antonio write that book his grandmother was an evil eye Doer away with practitioner when he was growing up That's right, if you don't know what we're talking about we're talking about what turns out to be a very very old I don't know what you call a tradition. What do you what is custom? Superstition. Yeah, all those things where someone will give you the evil eye. Someone will shoot you a glance We call it the stink eye again. Yeah, and it's it's wordless. You don't have to say a thing. You don't have to have a What is a little voodoo doll There's a big there's a quick cello sting going on in the background 100 % you got to take that that small string section around with you It means basically well originally I think it was sort of came from jealousy or envy but can also be just someone's angry or they resent you or Maybe they're being greedy or something and it's generally always intentional But I was surprised to learn From our friend here who wrote that book that it can be unintentional. I didn't realize that but I mean I guess I guess if you're coveting Something are you jealous of somebody to the left of the person you accidentally look at and give the evil eye That's the best I can come up with for unintentional evil eye This goes all the way back to the Greeks and possibly before right? Oh, yeah long before the Greeks but Plutarch was maybe the first person to actually write about it He was a philosopher and historian as everybody knows and he wrote some essays that were collected into something called Moralia And he talked about the evil eye in that his whole jam. Was that your eyes are a source of energy That shoot out that shoot the energy out into the world around you and that reminded me Chuck of our stereoscopic episode where that one one of those ancient physicians would had their their theory was that we see by shooting beams out at Stuff. Yeah, and that's how we see and I guess that's kind of what it was based on. Yeah, totally the basically the body fills up with that jealousy or rage or whatever and It clouds the mind and then the eyeballs are right there in front of the mind to sort of Display for the world whatever the mind is thinking and in this case, it's evil Yeah, and it goes when you shoot the evil eye out of your eyes that was Plutarch's take and apparently that was the popular Take of it. Yeah, and depending on what culture you are from and your your ancestry is Sort of about you might have a long rich tradition of evil eye shooters or or Blaming everything that happens to you. That's bad on an evil eye that was shot your way Yeah, because it's not just stuff that happens to you directly like an injury or an illness It can also be things that happen to the things you depend on like your smartphone Exploding in your pocket. Remember what that used to happen. Yeah They are blowing a tire smartphones did They didn't catch on fire, right? Am I making that up? There were like mild explosions with some I want to say an Android at some point in time Yeah blowing up in people's pockets and everyone's like ha boy remember when that was a thing Yeah, and now they're right back in her pockets again back in the aughts. Yeah. Everybody's like, I don't care I love smartphones so much. I'll just take the risk. That's right so back to Antonio who wrote the book the evil eye he is Catholic and Italian and he said, you know, we don't even have like baby showers over here like that That's considered bad luck to have a baby shower. Like you're tempting fate or something like that yes, so it's a you know, sort of a superstitious danger and Over there and this is kind of true anywhere in any culture that has an evil eye history They will have protections against evil eyes like amulets and things like that and pregnant women would wear amulets in Italy Apparently at least in his family and they would say these special prayers to ward off the evil eye Yeah, and the reason why Having something like a baby shower would tempt fate and maybe attract an evil eye Is that it could be taken as like a boast or something and roasting can generate? Envy or jealousy and envy or jealousy can shoot out of your eyes as the evil eye and then your smartphone blows up in your Hand during the baby shower. Yeah, look at me I made a human and in particular babies children pregnant women and animals are the most vulnerable to the evil eye Although it can happen to anybody But there's different traditions and customs for protecting against the evil eye Depending on where you are in the world. Like you said in Turkey when you are a newborn baby You're gonna get what's called a nazar? Which is a dark blue? Circle with a white circle inside it in a dark blue circle inside the white circle and it's meant to be an eye And Chuck I say we take a break and we'll come back and tell everybody whose eye it is after this know ooh You friends seeing a doctor when you're sick is enough to make you sick or sicker and involves a lot of time and Effort at a time when you're least equipped to provide either so we want to talk about Teladoc, which is a far better alternative It's putting the humanity into health care. Yeah, think about what happens when you're sick and you have to see a doctor You've got a schedule an appointment and that could take days sometimes weeks to get in then you have to go to the doctor Even though you're probably feeling miserable and then you have to wait in the appropriately named waiting room Exposed to whatever the people around you are coughing and spewing into the air. It's a thing Well with Teladoc Health you can get in touch with a doctor 24 hours a day 365 days a year all from the comfort of your own home Just open the Teladoc Health app and get a diagnosis treatment plan and prescription if needed from a board -certified provider Download the app to get started today or go online to register or schedule a visit at Teladoc Health dot -com slash stuff That's T E L A D O C health dot -com slash stuff People are excited about what AI will do for them at IBM We're excited about what AI will do for business your business Introducing Watson X a platform designed to multiply output by tailoring AI to your needs when you Watson X your business You can build AI to help coders code faster customer service respond quicker and HR handle repetitive tasks in less time Let's create AI that transforms business with Watson X learn more at IBM comm slash Watson X IBM. Let's create a Horace it's the eye of Horace. Oh, wow. That was quick. Yeah Yeah, and like you said depending on where you are you might have different traditions for warding this thing off a lot of these countries are Middle Eastern or somewhere around the Mediterranean Sea I believe Dave Even said in his own family his grandmother in the Jewish tradition would tie Ribbons on cribs and things like that to ward off the evil eye or potential bad luck for newborn babies in that right? Yeah for sure in India They'll put some coal a black dot on the in Infants face and all these the point of these the nazar the red ribbon the black dot on the face They're meant to protect they're they're basically amulets or talisman that can protect against the evil eye and one reason why they based that on the eye of Horace is because in ancient Egypt the eye of Horace was painted on homes painted in tombs and it offered protection from evil or malintent or all sorts of problems even back then and so it kind of got mmm, you know how they take like You century know it goes from really ornate to like really stylized and simple That's basically what happened to the eye of Horace when it became the nazar. Yeah, that's a good way to say it Well, thank you and our book author also like you mentioned his grandmother Paglia Rulo's Grandma would keep a bowl of water in her kitchen and poured little drops of olive oil in there and look at the shapes and the patterns that the oil would take and Apparently that would inform her on the evil eye and if there was like someone in her family that was potentially in danger or a neighbor or something that Possibly will be or was stricken with the evil eye and I thought that was really interesting I don't know if it literally was like hey that looks like Our Gary our neighbor, right or if it's just you know, kind of reading the tea leaves, right? I'll put that olive oil was so good, too So you said that this all kind of came out of the Mediterranean did you not yes They've traced it back at least 5 ,000 years ago to tell Brock which is a city in Mesopotamia Which is tell Brock is a modern -day Syria right now and they found tiny figures that all kind of bear a resemblance to one another They call them eye idols and that they think that these offered protection as well Did you look up the eye idols of tell Brock do I didn't if? Et is not based on that. I will eat my head It's Identical to eat. It's crazy how much it looks like et man There's nobody who's seen et and would see one of those and be like, I don't know like it looks exactly like et All right, I'm looking it up and that is et. Yeah in that nuts That is et. I mean that is unmistakably an et head, right? But also even the body resembles et the proportions and everything. Yeah, that's true I don't see any arms and legs, but it does have that big squatty body. Well, thank God I don't have to eat my hat today Because they just pile on everything else bad that's happened. Was it like a sweaty old baseball cap. Mm -hmm Salty, you know, it's got the white salt streaks. It'll never come out. No, thanks So, I guess that's about it, huh for for evil eye. I got nothing else. Yeah There's all sorts of amulets and talisman you can use to protect yourself If you feel like somebody gave you the evil eye you can also say please don't look at me like that anymore I don't know what's wrong with you. That will also dispel the magic too. That's right.

Let's see here, I think the anthology makes this argument quite well and I hope it challenges readers to see the racism is not white supremacy's only ingredient, he added. White supremacy persists in part because of its relationship with capitalism, hetero patriarchy, ableism and so on. Kaepernick said black history and more generally a critical engagement with US history, threatens the white supremacist status quo and that his book is the kind of book DeSantis wants to ban. No it's not actually. do you put Why porno in your book? If naked pictures of your genitalia in the book then he would want to ban it. But he doesn't want it taught in the class. I can understand that. Why should he allow Marxist ideologues be teaching to little kids? They can wait till college. Any attempt to whitewash the past should actually be understood as a concrete step toward fascism and a desire to build a nation -state where power is concentrated in the hands of self -anointed

"And what was can we ask was you weren't upset about being it? No, no, no. I wasn't. I wasn't a disaster. I just didn't really. I wasn't really there. I was down. There was a pool, there was a pool hall arcade place called the hideout. Appropriately enough. And I used to go to the high dose quite often where I should have been in school. And then there were I went to I went to three secondary schools. So here you have elementary Midland high school at home. We have primary school and secondary school primary school takes you up to the time you're 12 and then secondary school kind of becomes middle and high school. And I went to three secondary schools. I went to Cosmo college for three years, then I went to boarding school for a year and a half, that didn't work out. And then I went to school in the center, Dublin city, which of course being the center of the city. It was surrounded by pubs. It was a terrible idea. Or a great idea, depending on your perspective at the time. Yeah, of course, it really was, but anyway, look, it was only three or four months short of my final exams. And I had a bit of an issue with one of the faculty and the principal of the school who was extraordinary. She was our English teacher as well. She was possibly one of my first introductions to drama because she was we were studying for the leaving certificate, which is like your GCSEs. We're studying Othello. And she would make the class get up and kind of perform it to a certain degree. With the books in our hands, of course. And so Eileen and Duffy was her name. She was extraordinary teacher and principal she was really sorry. She said I am sorry, but I got the word from the top. You have to go. And I went downstairs and I told the boys, and they're like, you're not kicked out. And I said, I'm gone. And it was for me, it was time to say, I was saying, look, I came here today. It was the only way I could get to a university campus after 26 years. It's been a long road, but I'm here now. But it wasn't. To be honest with you, I never knew how to apply myself in school. I just didn't know. I didn't get it. I might have had little bit of ADHD. What do you call that now? I found it hard to focus. I was always daydreaming and all that kind of stuff. So when I got shown the exit or I was thrilled, that day. Now the idea of trying a acting workshop, we owe to who. My brother, eamon, this is my brother aim and runs a school called the national performing arts school in Dublin. And before he established that school with his business partner, Jill Doyle, he was part of another studio that had an acting workshop in it that only had like 5 or 6 students and it was under the tutelage of a really extraordinary actor and kind of something of a layman historian in regards to theater. His name is colonel Kearney and Colin Carney was throwing this class on and I went in and it was a few days and it was the first time I had ever done anything like that I had ever been exposed to the exposure one can feel well when one is in a space like this are much, much smaller than this. It wasn't the size of the stage. It was a little black box room. And as I said, there was 5 or 6 students in Conan. And we had to just talk about ourselves and I found that I found a very awkward. But I found the awkwardness fascinating because at least the awkwardness was being given a chance to be addressed. It was given a chance to be moved through and worked through, and I was having a given an opportunity to talk about thoughts and feelings and having stuff since, but I was given the opportunity. And I grew up in a household where emotions were seen as weakness, which of course is such a gross irony now that I make my living. But that was like the way I was raised was emotions are weakness. You don't show certain things aren't allowed. And so it was incredibly liberating for me. Now this, of course, begs the question, what did your folks think when you started to really get into this acting thing? I think really, it seems like you do that class and then eventually you end up going to Australia and it gets a little more serious there. Is that right? I did. So I did that class. Yeah, and then I should have Wikipedia myself before I came. I went to Australia when I was 17 with two friends, and I lived there for a year on a one year Visa. And when I arrived in Australia, I looked up casting. The workshop. That's all I do. So I looked up. I was only going over for a laugh to get out of the job, and I didn't know what I was going to do. I was somewhat aimless in life. And so when we landed, I never forget me and Stephen Paul landed in Sydney. We got a room at the koala, the Oxford koala hotel on Oxford Street. We got one room, twin beds. So I said to the two lads, he was go and get a bit of kit. I'm going to go for a walk around the city. I was 17. It was amazing. I had a big disk man, which was had an anti shark system. On a CD on my head, but a string vest on and I thought I'd arrived. And I looked up casting directors in Sydney, and there was a casting company called lis Molina casting. And I went into their office and I said, yeah, but I'm an actor from Ireland. I've done quite a bit of work at home, and quite a bit of work at home. People know me when I walk down the street in Dublin and the nose just kept getting longer and longer and longer. And they put me in a government commercial for an anti smoking campaign, which, of course, another irony because I was on 40 a day by that point. And it never got released, it never got televised and it was, and then I did, and then I met a bunch of a bunch of kind of strange, wonderful, magic bohemian cats, some of who were Russian, and they had this place on a street called Forbes street, and the address was two 81 Forbes street. And it was the first time I had really strong black coffee and had heard the name tarkovsky. And dostoyevsky, and all of a sudden I was reading the master and margarita by Bogotá, and it was just, it was such a beautiful education for me because I grew up in Middletown class, but my heritage was very working class. So I grew up in this kind of disparities energy of a kind of privilege, but then with emotions or weakness and you're very lucky to have a roof over your head and so this was none of that. It was nothing to do with the economy or nothing to do with class or if anything they were totally this group. You can imagine we're anti class. And it was just amazing education for me. I slept on the couch there and I got to know them when I ended up doing a play with them called the player met the mom was Kelly's reign, but the Ned Kelly tragedy. But anyway, that's another story. It was the first time that I got to work with a bunch of actors really work on a text with a bunch of actors who was with that crew. And so that trip ends, you go back to Ireland, and now it's more serious studying, what's the, I guess this is the gaiety. So then I went, yeah, then I came home and then I came home and I didn't know I didn't know what I wanted to do. I mean, I thought acting, but I didn't know how. And as I say, I might have said it to my dad and I don't think he was too impressed by essence. And then I got a job as a waiter in a restaurant and I was drinking way too much, and I was really quite miserable actually. I think I was the only diagnosed myself, but I was having a kind of a some version of a low grade depression. And I wasn't really in a great place. It wasn't super destructive the way I became years later, but I wasn't in a thanks to laugh. How dare shame on your joking? I'm joking. I'm joking, so joking. But I wasn't in a great place. And my brother came in, eamon, who owns the national performing arts school. I think he had kind of said his school up at this point, but it was for younger students than I was at this stage. I was 18 or 19. And he came into the restaurant one day while I was on my breakfast break. And I kind of shared with them that I was in a bit of a bad place, and I wasn't feeling good. And I didn't know what I wanted to do, and he said, come on, go around the corner. And the gate he's got of acting was around the corner. And he said, we'll sign your front audition, and I've signed up that day. And then I went and I got accepted and I went to that. And from that came, I

"They thought they wanted political humor, okay? The show I was doing was Jimmy tingle for president. So I got booked in Florida, Texas, Arizona, Southern California, and in Northern California. This isn't the general public. These are corporations and they're there for their company, picnic or whatever. And you're doing their thing. So they're naturally tense anyway. And inhibited in terms of like you said, the HR department of the CEOs there or their boss, so I'm doing my thing. And this is how I learned about the certain words, how you can just alienate a whole crowd. So I inadvertently was not doing as well on stage as I could do. That's as simple as that. But I could feel a tenseness and the audience recoiling from what I was saying. And every gig I'm saying jeez, what am I doing wrong? And I finally got up to Bakersfield, California. I was actually in Kevin McCarthy's district. And he's a guy from the Republican minority leader of the house right now. Anyway, I'm in his district, and they're all ranches. I said to the woman who picked me up at the station, I said, how is this audience? How are they demographically? I'm thinking it's 50 50. It's California. She goes, oh, well, heavy Trump country. Very strong Trump guy. I said, really, she goes, yeah, I'm paraphrasing, but she said, this is the largest concentration of Christian schools in the country. Wow. I took that in for I had like three hours before I go on. I go, how am I going to deal with three, 400 ranches? Who are heavily Christian? And what I ended up doing is I did all this personal stuff. Growing up Catholic, trying to quit drinking, using the higher power to help me quit drinking. All these things that were personal that had nothing to do with politics so much. A personal connection to them. By the time I got to immigration, which they support immigration reform, they've all ranches. That's who's doing working on all these farms. Yes. By the time I got to those issues, they could hear me. And they can appreciate where I was coming from. And at the end of it, you know, I don't want to leave my first podcast blowing my own horn, call it. But by the end of the show, there was a standing ovation. That's all I'm gonna say. I love it. I love it. Yes. The personal story can go a long way, even though the material on the outside might seem very, very political. And when you're coming from, you won't experience then it can just resonate with people more so than just the punditry. Absolutely. Absolutely. Cool. So Colin, I'm looking forward to seeing your show this Thursday night in Boston, January 13th, folks. If you are in another state and I hope you are listening or another city, the show, the last best hope, starring Colin Quinn as traveling, touring the country, go to Colin Quinn dot

"Where colin was wrong. That jaguar situation was not great ten penalties three turnovers. Urban meyer is known in college as a turnaround specialist. But they were completely unraveled. They trailed thirty four to seven at one. Point two houston. I'll say this tyrod. Taylor and david colley have been in this league for a long time and it's week one and so urban meyer of this is. I'm not sure exactly what we're going to be. And what is going to be like in. Trevor lawrence had some nice throws. I'll say this. Trevor trevor's really talented. That's not the question but as we've said from the beginning this is a rebuild outside a wide receiver every other unit and to be down thirty. Four to seven to the texans is concerning where colin was right. Finally the one afc team. I was really concerned about. Was the tennessee. Titans and they were boat raced at home. Listen young quarterbacks need coordinators arthur smith. I don't know if he'll be a great head coach but he was a great coordinator and tannehill doesn't have him. I think their secondary is weak. They can't quite get the offensive line right arizona. At one point lead twenty four six. The final scores not indicative of the game. It was never competitive. This was the one good team the last two years and we know this happens every year. There's four new playoff teams every year. I said the one team. That's been really good for last several years. I just don't buy is tennessee. By the way they have the fewest returning starters in the nfl and in week one. They have new coordinators. It really showed. Maybe they're better october but they struggled colin right. Colin wrong brought to you by jersey. Mike's subs be sure to catch. Live editions of the heard. Weekdays at noon eastern nine. am pacific on fox. Sports radio affects one and the iheartradio app. Great one and three time pro bowler number one. pick fifteen years in the nfl carson palmer now joining us live first of all. I gotta give joy joe bureau credit. I gotta say this coming off. An injury. carson is hard. it's hard to get back on that bike. and you. what he's a gamer. there's something about him and just just you. You know you've had injuries that first. Game back live. Bullets has top. I thought joe borough as you could. kind of. Gas was a total gamer yesterday. He looked great. He was really smart with the ball. He didn't put himself or his team in any bad situations and then at the end of the game when he had to make the big throws in the big plays he was able to make them so. I mean there's a lot been talked about this bengals team in this offensive line if the offense line continues to protect joe and he doesn't have to beat you with this feet and he can throw the ball and distributed to all the playmakers he has. That's when this bengals team is at their best. You know it's interesting. Cleveland lost but i felt carson. There are traits that i think that where well in the nfl. If you have a good old line and you can run downhill and control clock in tempo you can. You can make a guy like patrick. Mahomes be spectator for large chunks of the game. And i thought cleveland loss but my takeaway was that team's going to lead a lot of people and they're not going to have to face mahomes mahomes and arrowhead. I thought the most impressive losing team yesterday. Maybe by far was cleveland your takeaway on that performance in that game or and if you look at cleveland's defensive lineman they've got to number one picks a defensive end today cloudy and myles garrett so they are built to play with a little bit of a lead and make you have to throw it and it didn't work. I mean i. The thing that jumped out to me is baker. Mayfield is exactly what we've all been saying he is. He's a really good. Quarterback is a great. Is he good enough to put that team on his shoulders and and go out and win game in game out week in week out. I don't know i. I think that's the biggest question this year is that they're in his position in cleveland with after decide or they can extend baker mayfield contract. They've given him everything he could want. He's got not only one great running back he's got to. He's got an offensive line. They've got some playmakers on the back end of the secondary and they can rush the passer in and play with the leading force. You to have to drop back and deal with those two defensive ends but at the end of the day it was just drastic was the difference between baker. Mayfield and patrick mahomes start. Look at that team. Baker's dropped that team is built to make the super bowl run we'll see as the season progressive bakers good enough to win the super bowl. Listen i don't want to take too much from week one. But there's a saying in sports that players will win the off season. They'll win in the offseason. Teams will win in the season. So you know the the sins of the summer. He'll be paid in the fall. you know. Russell wilson an erin both had issues with their organizations and because they're both expensive carson. There's not much the seahawks could do. And there's not much green bay could do right. They had to you know they. The signed aaron jones in green bay. They went and drafted a wide receiver. Seattle got gabe jackson. They got him a better tied in offensive coordinator. But in the end. When you're paying your quarterback a lot of money there's limitations on moving the deckchairs but the difference to me. Was russell appreciated it and quickly pivoted to work in his butt off and getting ready for the opener and i know everybody loves aaron. But he's bruton about this thing. He talked about it up until last week. And i watched yesterday green bay and i think to myself. That just didn't look right. That didn't look right at all. And there's a difference between a loss. Cleveland lost and that i something doesn't sit well when i watched green bay. They're too talented to be the worst offense in the league. Even if it's a game your thoughts. My thoughts are quarterback hard. Playing quarterback is extremely difficult. Even if you are earn rogers but when you bring on all this criticism and all the doubt and you're asking for a trade and demanding certain things in the front office that's just a lot for to have to deal with throughout training camp going into week two after an embarrassing loss. It's something that your teammates have to deal with and constantly at get asked questions about you. Know as aaron. Happy what do you. What do you think the organization needs to do to get aaron happy and all those things that your your teammates are constantly burdened with every press conference in every open locker room. Where the media's available. Aaron looked uncomfortable. He looked uncomfortable from the first quarter. Quarter never settled feet. He never just dropped back and rip the ball into a into a scene or or a nice long completion. Everything looks challenging. Everything look different. I just think this the offseason. He's gone through the training camp. He's gone through all the questions all the stuff. He's got going in his personal life of those things can burden you. Those things can weigh you down in aaron. Looked like he had cement boots on at time something was holding him back and holding him down. You know at the end of the day. He is aaron rodgers. He will shake this rust off. He will come back and play great. He'll probably end up going to the pro bowl and throw for thirty eight touchdowns and five thousand plus yards but he just looked uncomfortable. He looked burdened by long off season. You know that. That like i said. I think that'll wear off and we will be a different story but you know all that talk that that was going on in seattle that only lasted for maybe a month and then russ was happy and rush russ looked happy russ looked like he was having fun. And then it's the polar opposite for watching that green bay. Aaron rodgers.

The skills takes and careerbuilder dot com has the jobs to get. You hired fast. Visit careerbuilder dot com okay. monday night. football raiders. baltimore baltimore's had three huge losses. So you tell me you have three starters lose in a week before a game can baltimore overcome that. Some teams can't overcome that s not super tunnel. But i think if if any team can man is the teams like what's more is those teams who own arise. They've been there for a while. Got good group. A leaders on a team nice vets mixed. What young is kind of a baltimore is so if anybody could overcome it'd be hard but it seemed like baltimore team like pittsburgh nebi able to do it. Finally bast team you saw including tampa dallas thursday. Best team you saw and were doing this before the bears rams so. I wanna say that best team you saw this weekend. And why while we'll say tampa. But i thought that i thought that kind of you know e. Put a little pressure on that. Secondary a secondary play a little bit better but dak is proven e e turned in that corner man diagnose faria so that's tap off undoubted ride with zona. I'm with the cardinal defense came out they stopped derrick. Henry in safeties didn't have to really get involved in it. They kinda stopped them with the guys up front. Jj watt As as young the younger saving college. So i think they did a good job on defense. We know what they got off hop game like regular jala. Murray came out did his thing like regular but i think that defense stepped up. Got to turn over today. Couple turnovers a day challenge. Jones went crazy. He show he'd back he won't take. You won't check as well so i got a row. Air zona jumped off the tape to me. Think about think about them. Buddha baker chandler jones deandra hopkins. Jj watt cuyler. Marie aj green. That's like six elite players in this league. If jay's healthy that's as many as seattle has and they and they and they might have a couple in six years we they going to be around there. That is sms and collins and they got in rondell more. They got a couple of guys who could be like that. You know colin murray and they got some young names who in six years could beat those guys to keep good stuff to talk to you. Appreciated colin always you bet..

"The dolphins are definitely get better arizona tennessee. My big concern was ryan. Tannehill was this. Is that his career you know he was kind of flailing and then he got arthur smith the offensive coordinator. Listen coordinators matter. You've you're you're talented enough. That a coordinator isn't going to change the trajectory of a keep to leaves career but for a quarterback that solid if you get a mcveigh or shanahan or maybe in arthur smith. It changes the trajectory of your career. So he leaves. He takes he. Takes the atlanta falcons job. Now that doesn't mean he's gonna win immediately as a head coach but he was a hell of a coordinator and when i watched tennessee today. Maybe it was a lack of returning starters. Maybe it was just murray getting a lead and putting pressure on them like what jumped out to you Really i thought it was as honest stopped run. They did a good job. Stop in stop in deir harry early. It had big runs to. I think like third quarter. Maybe too many big runs. So i get credit to the cardinals. Defenseman xavi in college was in there. That was moving around. Everywhere chandler john. Jj watt came and played the hell out the run. So you really can see the change in defense. Oh oh jj. Why don't allow you know you're going to be able to stop the run. So i think that's what the difference was. Arizona was was stopping derrick henry and and you know it made him do other things. Do you like connery. I love column murray. I love column. Murray each put on another show today. this car not special colleen you see. I keep on talking about these cards. They specialty got some going. I think they've been right there on the coast but as you as he played Kingsbury and distaster year together. I think you know they own way. Not they've finally turned that corner and college special. There's going to be an mvp type season for colorado. Think they will also have. They do have some players that are like different level tyler. De'andre chandler jones. Yeah yeah they got like five dudes. That are really dude. So they're like seattle star power buddha baker they got like six dudes that are pro bowl level dudes right and the like seattle. I don't know how deep they are. But they're top six to seven players are complete ballers that line is better Beach them went down day but look beats them. Go down. You just margaret comey. He got who started games. We play guard tackled. So i think they did. You got two running backs you got four four receivers really. Aj green more hop. Of course so. I think they pretty deep so long as is in there he run the show. I think they got all the rest of the pieces. And i was nervous about the cornerbacks. That's what i was really nervous about. How would they cornerbacks. Go play and they came up tackled good and they play good enough coverage so next up packers saint. So i'm gonna throw something at you so both russell wilson. Aaron rodgers were pissed at management. Russell buttoned his up in about two weeks immediately pivoted to what his agent mark rogers told me was the best off season of his career. He said calling it. He's never worked. This heart and russell is like brady. He's totally committed. so he had an issue with management. They solved it quickly. He pivoted to mr positively and worked as off erin had a problem with management. He's still talking about it two days ago. He didn't work terribly hard. He said he wanted to get away from football. And i honestly when i watched them today i didn't think aaron played particularly well. I didn't think the team looked prepared. You know maybe. It's but i mean russell erin about the same time had an issue. One of them solve it. Let's go get in great shape all full steam ahead. The errands bag on the packers two weeks ago. He's backing on last week. And a to me a key. There's something there like you got this games too. Hard to be worried about anything. Other than playing the game as xactly. And and bill. Ned bob man if if divide not really there you ain't been here is kinda feel the friction in the air. His is hard to win like that. Colin is hard. That's why you see them. Championship teams the teams who the closest they act like college teams right so you look off a little bit. You could tell the packers off a little bit. Noah's lethargic a little bit so saints came out and they was ready to go that that the saints looked like a team with through all off season together and they got great camaraderie day plan fast. They celebrate together. So that's how you win. Football games right there. Now that's interesting. You say celebrating together. Because i thought james played really well yes james play great and he and a key. He was planned his ass off fall off season because he was trying to win the job. So he's in the best shape of his life. That's the best shape. I've ever seen jameis winston his career and i thought you talk about celebrating thought the camaraderie. Yeah it was great. Was great by the saints. You could see it in the side mess. Something that's jamie's going to bring to the team. That's that's a. Plus that come with james they know you have great camaraderie. Eagle had it on the sideline. also damon's noman started off season. You gotta win the job. I not he trying to really win a job and get that future. Deal and beat the saints quarterback going forward. You know come with that shit like two hundred at this point. So we know we know jamie's plan for. He knows what he planned for. All right finally philadelphia atlanta this the. Nfl's crazy buffalo and green bay got manhandled and philadelphia was brilliant. Yes and you know. It's so funny because we know they have good tight ends like we do and we know and we know the offensive line when healthy is strong. But i gotta tell you some. I thought they looked crisp. Well coached. I thought jalen played really. Well thought their young receivers like like they can play devante smith. Compla- what was your you love philadelphia. Today i love philadelphia man. I've been on philadelphia and the cardinals. Two teams. I think is gonna go surprise. A lot of people to share with that line in philly is healthy and jalen hurts under centerman. They're going to be able to run the ball like they did. And they gonna protect gonna be able to throw the ball around. He got young guys. Like you said can make plays devante smith. They got a real number one receiver. Now so i like philly got going on deep as long as you got somebody who could contain what number one guy lak- following number one. Gotta around slow him down. Got a great front seven so and a great deal on i love. I love what they got in philly. I like i like what they got gone long as they stay healthy. I'm not. The coach has never been a play caller. Before i don't know how. Good their coaches. But i but i will say this. That generally speaking. It's hard to be a bad team with a good offensive line. And today i thought the offensive line control the game like b- b. By the way. I thought the seahawks offensive line was better than the colts today. I thought the chargers offensive line. They got that ball with six minutes back. Six minutes go. They never gave back to washington. Today was a day were offensive. Line's one the day. The saints offensive line today key dominated dominated by the way the browns dominated in the first half the online and the channel second-half. But if you think about it is always like that. You could say that about every game team. Who win they officer live. Probably set the tone and dominated that game so it all started up front man. That's wanted a little cliche sands football but is true auto cliches. It's cliche for a reason. Because they got a lot of truth to him man so it always started.

"I still don't know. What the raiders are. I don't know what they are three years into this rebuild. What are they. They're not good defensively. They don't have a pass rush. Just lost three starters on the offensive line. What are they well. Here's an example. 'cause i've said when you give somebody that's highly emotional and that's gruden ultimate power. Jim harbaugh's a little bit of this. Is that if you surround them with too many yes men. They become their own worst enemies. Well here's a story today. Joy taylor has it on players. They just cut so they just waved. Twenty twenty third round. Pick tanner muse. Who was a linebacker from clemson. Never played a snap for the raiders because he missed the entire last season with a toe injury. So this is the second of their third round. Picks from two thousand twenty. They have moved on from the raiders before ever playing a regular season snap for the team and add insult injury. Today tantrum uses birthday so now he'll probably picked up by somebody. Third round picks usually get way they get picked up by somebody so they move they had muse and lynn bowden junior who was trained to the dolphins prior to the twenty twenty season. So he the other one that they've already moved on from brian. Edwards was the other third round pick who's projected the start at wide receiver. But yeah they're they're drafting has been a lot of mrs. Yes allah and the thing that always jumps out to me. When i when. I see a team get taken over. Do they have. Is there a plan. This is always been my thing. I never judge coach on their first year. But i got to see a plan. And i knew when i didn't buy into the raiders plan when they talked about we gotta get high character guys in the draft so they overdrafted players who are nice guys and then they started sound like antonio brown richie incognito who can play. You wouldn't classify them as high character guys. I'm not saying they can't play. And there's a space for both those guys in the nfl. I i got no problem with richie planner antonio plan. But you can't tell me your plan is high character. I think baez perfect got brought into. It's like timeout. Three of the guys that you would not define his high character. So what's your plan in. What's happening with the raiders. John emotional an emotional people. Wake up. everyday's you got a new plan. You got a new idea. You got your hot and cold on personnel. I have never liked coaches having a big say in personnel coaches coach. Gm's gm owners own quarterback quarterback john. Now i think in harbaugh had this at michigan you simply gave a highly emotional player person way too much power and they become their own. Worst enemy will he. He has power yes say but he also has a long runway. He has lots of time all the time in the world the most ever because he has that contract so you can't move on from him so if they don't these draft picks don't perform if they don't take a big step up then it's going to be mayock who's moved on from not jon gruden so i have the raiders. Teams are jets. I feel strongly about texans.

"I'm i'm i'm just conflicted as to what the plan is. Now there's obviously the conversation of what you owe the rest of the guys in the locker room. Do you owe them wins more. Do you owe them the development of justin fields. And that's you know that's a little bit of a struggle when you have a young quarterback like justin fields that you drafted as high as you did but you have a veteran. Their in house like whichever. You team doesn't necessarily have like jacksonville if you're on the jacksonville jaguars you you know what it is like. Trevor lawrence young quarterback. This is what you're going. Let zach wilson. He's the guy like there's there's no conversation about russia we'll be starting a bedroom but when you have them there. This becomes the dilemma and chicago court back in into long time. Well vans are sort of rooting for one of the fun things about we wanna a week when a pro football is hits like overreaction monday like i'm i'm probably going crazy over reacting but like you football give you answers pretty quickly and so you'll know you'll know if andy dalton should've been named the starter and you'll know by you know nine. Pm pacific. on sunday night. Yeah because i know most people don't expect them to win that game but if he is competent and they're just not as good as the rams. That'll that's fine. But if he's legitimately struggling than that will be immediately the conversation. There's going to be overreaction to because we talked so much about it. So josh allen has proven. He's a young quarterback to watch as he heads into his fourth season and some nfl executives. Think that he could be this year. There's reportedly some sneaky. Mvp buzz around josh allen finished second in mvp voting last year according to fox betty as the third best odds to win in twenty twenty one at plus eleven hundred. He's only behind patrick. Mahomes plus five fifty an era writers at plus one thousand. I would say this about aaron. I have been a huge supporter of green bay offensive lines. They do it better than anybody. I don't like. I don't think it's a very good offensive line for aaron and i think the vikings and the bears are pretty good defensive fronts. I i think aaron's going to have a not an mvp season..

"Heard on the news. This is the headline news. I'm very interested to see what the seventeenth game kind of effect that has on seasons moving forward and you also have to consider cove as well as year. Also i think practices are lighter. You just can't keep asking thirty six year old players. I mean yeah. I think practices are going to be a lot of walk-throughs like whatever amount of padded is going to go down even more especially for older players and i do think if there's any sort of blowouts which you generally don't see but they're gonna pull starters much sooner. Synthesised game starts to peel away to save guys especially later in the season so getting back to this amazing college football weekend. Spencer rattlers heisman campaign. Got off to a shaky start. Second ranked uncle oklahoma barely held onto beats unranked to lane rattler. Threw for three hundred and four yards a touchdown tune receptions. In the win he also ran in for another scores so they were able to get the forty thirty five win despite two lanes two late touchdowns in the fourth. Yeah and after the game rattler spoke about how tough the match up was was one of the hardest hitting teams one of the most physical teams. I've ever played and They came out there in play great He played better than us for sure they wanted. They wanted to win. More than us. You can just tell it But yeah we got to be cleaner gotta be sharper. I gotta be better this game. Not as much as the notre dame game because obviously to lane is not considered as good as fsu but this was probably a little bit of a wakeup game. Four also you know for those tulsa players. They probably grew up dreaming. They wanna play for. Oklahoma and oklahoma didn't offer scholarship so these are always the dangerous games to lane to forget it but i'd like to lane was in a very difficult situation because they were. The game was moved there so they did. They try to do a good job of like making them feel welcome. The fans cheering for them when they came out because it was you know obviously not supposed to be there but you know i think it's maybe a little bit of over reaction like you have these game sometimes where lesser opponents going to get up for big game and give performance and they are a tough team and by the way. There's no preseason for these college kids and they have limitations on how many hours they can practice. Oh don't be shocked. If good teams struggled a little bit. I mean i thought you i alabama and ucla. I was kind of blown away by how clean the game was like. I i'm watching ucla in alabama's like wow. This is a remnants amazing. How clean the games were. Ucla was probably more surprising to people. I think we probably got a little head of ourselves. Alabama like they still are. Alabama bracy is the favourite to win the heisman. According to fox babbitt. Spencer has the second best odds to win well. Sam how the quarterback at north carolina struggle now he lost a lot of receiver lost a great receiver. A great running back but bolt the top two quarterbacks supposedly according to the nfl guys bolt had bumpy weekends..

"Came now obama ready to play mess massive matter waiting his turn. He has great instincts pocket. I loved about as far as feeling the pass rush knowing when the step up non when he'll step up but he's stepping up the throat and i love that about him and he wasn't taken off and running every time she took off up in the bucket right here and just throwing the football looking up the field always trying to find somebody down the field but he had great instincts of whether rush was coming from so those things. Come from having a lot of rips when you're young all the way up through the system. Yeah he really does it just the game. He so smooth and so confident and you're like he's eighteen years old. Nineteen old kid stepping into these huge national. Tv spotlight games. Warren moon great sena. You got a plane to catch. I'm told the luggage and blakich. Thanks a lot talk to you. Man is always you bet. Yeah no it's when you watch him when you watch certain players. The game is easy. I can remember having this conversation watching michael jordan. And this is right in the middle of his greatness. And i'm thinking well he's six six six guys in the nba and he's done a great ball. Handler body handles the ball. And it was so easy and there was a lot of guys that can jump and michael didn't look different than other players like. It's so easy for him so effortless. Kobe had that. Kobe wasn't the strongest. Didn't jump the highest. Some people like rice young just like that's not the way it's supposed to look is an eighteen year old. It's not supposed to look like that. He felt pressure. He knew and i mean literally just a whole game. He just so instinctive so at least feet in our throws. He's not a big kid. He's not big and he just look easy. The ball comes out here in your end zone. Just step into at a. Yeah it was. It was personally painful to watch but it was very impressive. He's really talented. Be short catch. "Well so don't take the way colin But what. Your theory is revolutionary. I think is revolution but it really shouldn't be too because because because you're saying to me it i'm like we'll da like but but it's so weird that something where i would respond yet. Da is complete opposite from the structure that has existed for for almost one hundred years. You know When the first came out but well right well. Yes changed radically in one thousand nine hundred eighty there was. Dsm wanna dsm to Which were basically a freudian psychoanalysis manuals that had lengthy descriptions about what different kinds of mental problems. Look like and how they work. That were all based on freudian. Interpreting for the mechanisms in the rang and then in nineteen eighty. What you had was a group of psychiatrists who got together and said we can do this. Better do this more scientific wet and they created these sets of checklists for whatever. Symptoms gonna be reach diagnosis. That did not require drying any inferences about what was going on in people's unconscious minds. So you know. They were trying to make a more systematic process in a better system for diagnosis. And i and i think in many ways that they did but the fact remains nonetheless that the key the sets of criteria that came up within the categories listed symptoms were really just based on Know the experience of peoples in in the medical profession psychiatrists experience so you can think of it as like the accumulated wisdom of psychiatry. It's still wasn't very scientific by our standards. Today as the you know the new movement to move toward these dimensional systems is because now we have enough actual data that we can see how different symptoms are likely to present together and to develop over time and all these things. Yeah no i. I love it and i don't know if you've noted if you've noticed the similarity To my theory of personal intelligence you know in on gifted arguing that.

"Have been in hard knocks. Have sort of capsized. The cowboy over underwent total is nine and a half meaning. This is not the kansas city chiefs. This is not the ravens. This is not a team that can walk in and we can just put nine or ten. Wins down little distractions. You know egos bruised is is not not good for this team. They don't have a huge margin for error. So i don't love this where colin was right. Well i will say that. The journey was unique but we did pick the bucks to be in the finals. We said this roster is one that doesn't get hurt much now y- honest get hurt in the end but they were twelve and five in the eastern playoffs. They got some breaks but we said when you looked at the east. The celtics were unraveling. We didn't like the sixers chemistry We didn't trust miami. We thought there was a little lightning in a bottle for that team last year and the bucks ended up where we thought of. Eventually they would end up where colin was wrong. The yankees are now in fourth place in the american league east. They lost two or three to the they can't pitch garrett cole their acis struggling or all this chapman out of the bullpen is struggling. They don't really have a number two pitcher jordan montgomery for the time being is it. They don't run the bases particularly well. Not a great defensive team. They're not overly athletic. They have a negative run differential. Which is real trouble. It is a team. That is very reliant on the home run which can be fine. If you're starting pitching is money but garrett cole i gotta tell you that whole tax issue you know a lot of pictures. Spin rates have Been reduced a little. But garrett cole suddenly can't get in the buddy out makes many people suspicious where colin was right the dodgers though of one nine straight and they got through a tough time when they had some injuries. But they have now swept the first place giants. They swept the nats over the weekend. I watched a lot of that. They won three or four from the cobs. They're pitching has been excellent lately. The team era is number one in baseball kershaw by the way. The guy is just still money. Kershaw gives you gives you that. Six innings minimum these nine and seven on the year. Second best record There unlike the yankees. They're on the basis. Well they're athletic. They're getting great pitching and right now behind. The red sox second best record in baseball where colin was raw. Well i've never been a fan of alabama quarterbacks in the nfl mostly because they have such great coaching in such great defenses. They have such great receivers and offensive lines. It does doesn't relate to the nfl. It's an easy life for a quarterback. And i think mack jones looks like another alabama quarterback who underwhelms but apparently. He is swaying teammates. There was a report that he has connected with offensive coordinator. Josh mcdaniels pats insider mike re says mac. Jones had a very strong first impression on not only coaches but players. So i have had my doubts for years on alabama quarterbacks who you know throw to wide open receivers always play with the lead. Oas have a great running back. But we'll see if i just you gotta get number fifty often. That just does not look right to me. Where colin was right. Well we had said dame lillard is going to finally speak up. He's going to do a russell. Wilson northwest athlete. I'm tired well kris. Haines broke the story. That damian lillard is considering his options that he believes he is sort of mired in mediocrity mired in nba quicksand. Where you're not terrible but you're not great and you can't win the championship. He's a little uneasy. There and chris haines reporting excellent job by chris who comes on this show regularly regularly that dame is realizing warriors are going to be better mavericks. Only getting better clippers lakers going nowhere now. The sons are great. You utah finished with the number one seed. Maybe it is time to demand his way out of portland so good stuff. Be sure to catch. Live editions of the heard weekdays at noon eastern nine. Am pacific on fox. Sports radio affects one and the iheartradio app. Rick bucs covered the nba. Since the early nine days brought to you by mercedes benz the best or nothing. He'll join us live from the bay area. So when i look charles barkley said it and i was saying earlier there are players that are great players over the course of a season but situationally in the half court offense a westbrook janas. Ben simmons not great shooters that they can be a little bit of a liability. And i did think the bucks offense in the half court set was pretty effective against atlanta without jaanus d. Think milwaukee knows in the half court set sometimes taken him off the floor. Lighten gives drew holiday and middleton opportunities. They wouldn't otherwise get right. Yeah no and it also gives opportunities for brook lopez. That he normally wouldn't have he ends up being a largely three point shooter to space the floor in order to give jaanus room to get into the paint and do what he does so brook lopez becomes a completely different player. And you saw that. In the absence of jaanus jaanus is at his best and the bucks are at at their best when he is actually the screen center and the roller and doesn't have the ball in his hands unless he's catching it below the free throw below the free throw line that's when he could be effective because then it's only a dribble or two. He gets two feet into the paint. Now he's his most dangerous when he's facing up at the top of the key quite honestly. That always scares me. Because it's a turnover waiting to happen and a turnover. There is an automatic fast break bucket going the other way so i the the maybe the encouraging thing for the bucks is seeing how bobby portis has played and how brook lopez's played. Yeah and it may be a little bit easier to convince jaanus that less is more right now and to allow these other guys to shine do what he does defensively do what he does. Rebounding the ball play below the free throw line. But we're not gonna play through you quite as much you know if chris. Paul won the finals and they'll be favored favored in game one favored in the series. And i like phoenix. Get more answers than i do. Questions with milwaukee. Feel like i get more questions sometimes that i want. I want answers by this time in the season. I like phoenix But if chris one and the sons one do you think it radically changes his legacy. I do i do now. Obviously it depends on how they win. And what kind of role that he plays. I i saw something written about that. He was the the superstar who owned the conference finals. And for a guy who didn't play in the first two wins and had an off game in the third win for the sons. I can't say that he's the guy who owned the conference finals. I don't know that any player did. But if chris paul gives us more performances like he did in game six or is just that stabilizing factor where. We see the difference between them with chris paul and without them then yes adding a ring to a guys legacy however whatever year you do it however you end up doing. It changes the impression honestly. He's already changed it by getting there. He was considered a great point guard. Second round and out in the postseason by the by the very nature of getting to the finals. This puts him in a different category. So i do believe that it can have a huge impact. Some of it has to do with how he plays in the finals. And i liked the sun's too but i don't love them this for this idea that it's a foregone conclusion that the sons are going to win this series. I am not. I am not with that at all. I think it's going to be a very competitive series. And i would not be surprised if the bucks ended up winning it. You could make the argument. It's a transitional year. We've had years with that. That dirk team won. We didn't think they were going to run it back. The raptors team one. They're not going to run it back. Does this feel transitional to you like lebron get healthy. It'll be fine. i don't know i. I when i look at phoenix. I'm like i don't see him going anywhere. This doesn't feel like lightning in a bottle to me do you think. This is a transitional finals or the league is changing. It's getting younger. Yeah and it's going to look a lot more like this. For the next several years i would agree. I do believe. It's a transitional time who the powers are going to be going forward is a big question. More lebron james coming back. Let the lakers. I don't like their their future right now. Lebron's not going to get healthier. He's obviously not going to get younger. Right anthony davis is not going to get less injury. Prone and i don't know how many resources were asked. Actually i do. I do know how many assets they have to reconfigure that team in in a significant way and there aren't very many now which of these teams rises to the four. Can the atlanta hawks with all their young players. They're good for the next year or two. But then you have to start making decisions on contracts. The phoenix suns. Once you pull chris paul out of that equation or you pay him what he wants to be paid. Which is an enormous som- right. Then how is that going to cramp your ability to to keep all those other pieces what we have seen through these play. Offs is that depth and versatility has been the winning card for all of these teams. We like to think of these teams as star driven and they all have stars but the teams that are have been left standing as we moved forward are the teams. That have a bobby. Portis coming off the bench a danilo. Gal nari a kevin herder who can give you a game a bob down bogdanovich. Who gives you a game like it has been depth and the ability to play big and small that has made the difference and so i think the the pressure is on the gm's to spend their money wisely and not to go with the old concept of. I need to get two or three big stars pay them a boatload of money and then i'm going to back backfill on on everything else that to me has not been the formula this year and quite honestly if you look at how the toronto raptors one or even the lakers last year and the bubble. It wasn't just the star power. It was house how what's the quality of our sixth seventh and eighth man. And how do they match up with the opposition. And i believe the same is going to be true in these finals. That it's going to be a bobby portis or jae crowder or some of the players down the line that are going to be the determining factor on who ends up winning. Well it's interesting. Let's say chris. Paul doesn't have a great finals in devon booker's amazing deandra aden. They're just amazing and they win the finals. Then if you own the sun's you're like okay you know. Do i wanna go four years in on chris. Because he's going to be like your point. It is a punitive contract. It'll be interesting if booker indiana eight and just own the finals. I could see phoenix sitting there. Rick and going chris. Can we get a two year deal. That's when it gets really interesting now. Kristie just magnificent eighteen points twelve assists one turnover. We only have we only about forty five seconds left. Do you think you'll get a four year. Deal chris paul i do think he will get a four year deal. And i think it's going to be an albatross around the sun's you're going to reward him for what he's done this year but he's thirty six years old at injury-prone yeah four years at that number is it is a tough decision. No question me me me me but also you the payroll fast. Forwards is favorite foreign film. Powder doughnut okay. What's my line. The only line. I see here on. "Said the only reason i did that could control me. And then you're talking about my ethics and morals and that really angered date and there was a real animosity there. It got nasty and when we finally beat him. I mean i gotta tell you that a lot of good feelings in my life. Some off the radio. Tv that's up there. I mean i felt great. Well you should. Craig carton's another guy. I only met twice. I'll tell you. Craig carton store lease and it's funny so about five or six years ago before he had his really rough situation right a really really important executive had asked me. What do you think of craig carton. They were they were thinking of. Tv show tv radio. Show and again. I i'm not real intuitive on stuff like this. I said i think he'd be a blast to hang out with. I think he's probably got a big heart. But i don't know if i'd ever trust craig carton and about a year and a half later. His life unraveled. I think he's i really. I like craig talent. I think he's sort of a chem trail of narcissism. And you know he you know how everybody has a side hustle. I think is life sometimes feels like a side hustle. But i do think he has a hard a gold. I think he can do really wonderful things. And i think he does. Deep down have remorse. What do you make of him. because. I don't think there's ever been a radio personality like him. Maybe in the country. I think colin that he is tremendously talented. I mean he really knows how to push buttons as radio host. He knows that agitate instigate. And that's all pretty good when you take your phone calls and trying to keep an audience. I think that he will say anything to get ratings. And i believe that. He's he has remorse about what happened. And we had him on the air when he got fired from epa n. and everything came crumbling down. We had him on for an hour on an interview. And i thought he was very forthright and humble and all that and then he called me up said would you like to. I'd like to have lunch with you before. I go away so we had about an hour and a half lunch and i think he's as you say ingrid. He's really funny. Very clever very bright. And now i don't listen to a show because run up against them. People tell me while he says the worst things about you know he'd he can't feel like that me because i've never given merisi. I never i never go. Adding on the air. Never referred him on the air but he does say things about me and to me. That's the point of the the fight that i don't like i'm not gonna get into dirt not at my age. I've been around too long. And i do work for like two tiffany brands. That would probably frown on it anyway. But but craig is very aggressive guy on the air on that su ears..

"Now so the nba playoffs have been very very intriguing last week by the way congrats to you tip the cap. You predicted julio jones to the tightened it happened a couple of days later. So let's start it former newspaper guy. Jason mcintyre tomorrow's headlines today predict the headline for the nets buck series. I know you love these bucks. Colin but the headline will be bucks booth in a whole violent riddle. Me this okay. How has your honest one to. Mvp awards guy cannot shoot a basketball. I mean this is crazy in the three games. Janas played against the brooklyn nets. He's shooting seventeen percent on three pointers and twenty four percent from the line. How was the mvp twice. I'm just stunned at how bad the bucks have been. I know you like them a lot. And i liked him in this series. I could not have been more wrong. The nets played their worst game of the year right. Kevin durant misses a million shot. Joe harris couldn't throw it in the ocean from the shore and they lose by three. I think my biggest bet of the playoffs will be the nets in gema four to absolutely roll the bucks. End it all right tomorrow's headlines today. What's it gonna be the seventy sixers hawk series. Been a fun series. Little spicy action. Best series left. The headline will be seventy sixers. Can't process a win. I love trae young tonight. This is the highlight factory colin. You know the hawks have won. Thirteen straight games at home. Like atlanta's one of these weird and different sports town. I you've become a chicago guy recently loving chicago but keep an eye on atlanta here. I mean seriously. The arena is buzzing. They slaughtered the knicks twice. I do give. Doc rivers credit for moving ben simmons onto trae young trae young struggled in game two. But i like the hawks tonight. This is a team. I can't quit the hawks right now. they're really fun. The playoffs have been full of new teams in new energy. Keep an eye on the new red rifle kevin herder. He's a little more high profile than your guy. Andy dalton keep an eye on her tonight. Tomorrow's headlines today sons nuggets series kind of feel like phoenix's seized control of this puppy. A main i notice you've been loading up the sons in gambling. Smart man you are colin. The headline will be p. Three makes mvp award. Looked like a joker of course joke. It's won the mvp this week. They're going to announce it at the game. Denver's going to be rocking. I'll give you this one as a gambling tip teams that lose the first then go home down to sixty nine percent of them are hitting in the first half so i do think denver comes out. Spirited yokich shows out. But chris paul colin finally getting the credit. He deserves twenty five assists in one turnover in this series. I know and i've gotta give. I mean listen devon booker on top of the world right. The guy's eliminated lebron. He's dating kendall jenner. He's driving around with a fleet of like old classic cars. It's better than jay leno's okay devon booker's on top of the world. I love the sons. I think they.

"Made me really upset. He was like on tiktok. You really upset because he was talking to the to the black community asking them like trying to community and he was using words. I guess like sister family brother there are people giving him shit for any any came back. Awning pas is that you could hear it in his voice. I want to cry. Said me venue that he said. That's what i say to people. Is there a certain way. I should you know and then i did a video and i told him i said you know then i cried after the you know. I told him. I said at the stack problem at all whatsoever. I said i was here with say we're together and i just want her to feel that way because all this stuff. You didn't find that little thing. You need rather families sister ship for that talks about everybody coming on here trying to bring unity together. You know. get other people's would would advise him not to find those people that say one thing. I've learned that you have to do. As i mentioned. I do a lot of about also do diversity culture coaching right. And when people say the wrong things you have to look at. What's the intent of experience because they just don't know better while they're saying it because the trying to be a troll now in china i can say that much more ignorance here so people don't know what to say they really don't because i could tell you so. Many people are met here. I'm first black person i've ever talked to. So they really don't know the proper words to us and those folks have to have a lot of understanding and look at what is what. What if really the intent yet. You know when it tasted the wrong thing for example with back in two thousand nine in south china shenzhen all the starbucks and the girl working there said. Where are you from what we should which is a question people in china all at foreigners where you from. I said the yet she goes. No you black. You kept from the us. And i based..
