Debt limit deal heads to vote in full House while McCarthy scrambles for GOP approval
"The debt ceiling and budget deal worked out between House speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Biden has advanced to the full House, where a vote is expected Wednesday. I'm Ben Thomas with a look at its progress. The House rules committee voted 7 to 6 to advance the bill, chairman Tom Cole, an Oklahoma Republican calling it a product of compromise. And reflects the realities of a divided government. We shouldn't allow that to overshadow what this bill accomplishes. It would restrict spending for the next two years while also suspending the nation's debt limit during that time, and the nonpartisan congressional budget office says it reduces deficits by $1.5 trillion over the decade, but South Carolina Republican Ralph Norman also a member of the freedom caucus was disappointed. We had a real bill that was going to make a difference. We did in the original bill. This being watered down is completely takes the teeth out of it. And I see why the Democrats vote for it. I see it now. He and Texas congressman chip Roy, who earlier in the day, said not one Republican should vote for this deal. Join Democrats in opposing the bill's advance. Ranking Democrat Jim mcgovern of Massachusetts accusing the GOP of weaponizing the debt ceiling, saying it's a precedent that will forever haunt the nation. One party can use the full faith and credit of the United States as a hostage to pass their widely unpopular ideas. Adding, someday, hopefully not in my lifetime, but someday there will be a Republican president. And you will remember this moment because what you are trying to do is get things enacted that you could not get done through regular order. Ben Thomas, Washington

Facing GOP backlash, McCarthy labors to shore up votes for debt deal in time to prevent US default
"House speaker Kevin McCarthy is hunting votes for the dead ceiling and budget deal he negotiated with President Biden, a bill conservatives are blasting for not having enough spending cuts. Some Republicans like Oklahoma's Tom Cole say the bill does the job by avoiding a debt default. And we will achieve real reductions in spending while doing so. But the hard right house freedom caucus and chairman Scott Perry say there aren't nearly enough. And we will do everything in our power to stop it. With some conservatives warning of potentially trying to oust McCarthy. I'm not sure what everybody wanted. We couldn't get everything we wanted. He needs two thirds of Republicans to approve the bill. Here at The White House. This compromise agreement is reasonable for both sides. Budget chief shalanda young says the discussion now should be about getting the bill to President Biden, not about which party won. The American people came out ahead. You know, I wasn't looking to take anyone else out of the race, but I was going to put my car on the line to win. And I was either going to win the race or I was going to end up in the wall. Bride Magazine Puts Hairy Man In Dress On Latest Cover
"If you're appalled by some of these Victoria's secrets, images, you ain't seen nothing yet. Take a peek at this. Okay, so this is brides today magazine in India. This is their Instagram account and apparently this is their new digital cover, and they're celebrating transgenderism. And if you're listening to this on the podcast, I'm just going to describe it. It is a very, very hairy man. Lots of arm hair, lots of poly back hair. Lots of hair, just everywhere. I mean, lots of hair. Facial hair, the whole bit. And he's wearing lots of jewelry as well in a fancy Sari. And a lot of makeup. And this is how they're celebrating transgenderism. So once again, putting people on a pedestal. Now, I got nothing against, you know, you do, you do you and I'll do me, okay? You want to do that fine. But when you start shoving it down people's throat over and over and over again in society and celebrating in a way that I think leaves a lot of young kids really confused, then we're talking a whole different thing. You heard my interview the other day with Chloe Cole, the young girl who at 12 years old was like, I don't really like this old girl thing because she's going through all the things that girls go through at 12, 13, 14, 15 by 15. They had operated on her and done a double mastectomy, and she realized, you know what, that wasn't going to solve any of her problems. That she actually did want to be a woman. And now she can't even get them to pay for reconstructive surgery. They're of no help. She wants to transition fine. The medical community do anything to help her detransition whole other story. So I think that this sort of push, which is designed to make us all more accepting, it may come from some good intention somewhere I actually don't think it does. I think it's extremely political. But let's just assume that they're trying to do this so that we're all a little bit more open minded. Okay, fine, but you're taking it to a whole other level.

House GOP Rushes Bill to Make Some Spending Cuts, Raise Debt Ceiling
"McCarthy says he's got the votes to shove through very quickly a plan that would raise the debt ceiling. Now, look, if this is, in my concern here is this is happening so fast. That you've got some Republicans out there, not house freedom caucus folks mind you, but you have other Republicans, including congresswoman Nancy mace at a South Carolina who's basically a conservative Democrat, and then you've got our good friend, congressman Tim burchett, from right here in Tennessee, where we broadcast this national radio program, and there among those saying, hey, wow Nellie. Everything, huh? They're saying this thing is being shoved through and they haven't had a chance to really talk about this, but the house is scheduled to vote sometime today. To raise the debt ceiling. Now there is there are some spending cuts connected to this, but we don't have the details. So that's my concern is all of this is being done in closed doors. A House rules committee chairman Tom Cole, from Oklahoma, told reporters that he does have the votes. This is after a 6 hour hearing overnight to get the bill ready for the floor. And I think we've all been down this road before ladies and gentlemen, where lawmakers, when they stay overnight in the capital, very bad things happen to your wallet and sometimes to the interns. Why Chris Kohls Wanted to Review the Original "Karate Kid"
"Chris Cole's welcome back. It's been a while. Yeah, it has actually, not for the listener, or the viewer, but for us it has because we shot these in a weird order. It has it feels like a really long time, but it's so fun to get back into it, and what a great movie to do so with Karate Kid a classic. The first in a franchise, cartoons remakes, you name it now a new TV show Cobra Kai a spin off. You chose this movie, why did you choose it, Chris? Well, you know, this is one of my childhood favorites. I think it's my brother's was my brother's favorite movie for many, many years. And it's just one of these films where when you're a kid, you know, it's an underdog story. It's obviously it's like one of the quintessential underdog stories in history. And underdog stories have existed since the dawn of time. But I don't think they ever made one quite like this, and then once they made Karate Kid, I don't know if everybody remembers this. I was born in 79. So when this movie came out, I was about four years old. But it was a phenomenon. I mean, it was sort of in the same way Beverly Hills cop was. This may have even been bigger because although it didn't do as well as at the box office, this was a movie for kids and at least kids of my generation, everybody just loved Karate Kid. People wanted to take karate, Japanese culture became more interesting to people and this movie just changed American culture. It was a really, really big deal. They did the underdog story better than probably anybody else ever except for probably rocky, obviously. What's the connection? The connection of course is the same director. Yes, same guy who did rocky John Alvin also directed this one. He was accused of making basically rocky with karate for kids, so basically it's a ripoff of his own movie.

Joining me right now, I'd like to welcome Chloe Cole. Walk me through what happened initially when you were 12 years old. At 12 was when I started to really experience feelings of distress having to do with my body and being female. As a kid, I was always kind of on the tomboy side. More so as I got older and especially as I hit puberty, I really just sworn in, be one with the boys. Well, it's not fun. By the way, hello. As a woman. I'll tell you. Those are probably some of the most miserable years of my life. 12, 13. I mean, not easy. I mean, I meant to have their struggles, but it is. The grass is totally greener on the other side, and that's really how I thought of it. Coming up Chloe Cole, who was transitioned by doctors in California at the raw age of 12, went through an operation at the age of 15, while she's going to join us to tell us why Ron DeSantis is absolutely positively right. He went after Leah Thomas, and he went after ESPN ESPN, of course, being owned by Disney don't forget, Florida and Disney in the thick of it, right? That battle continues. Anyway, he made the point. It is wrong to have a swimmer compete for three years on the men's swim team, switch to the women's team, and then win the women's national championship. That is a fraud. That is wrong. You know, I don't really see what is so controversial about this. Because when you think about Leah Thomas, the Thomas was coming in 554th in the 200 freestyle, while competing as a man. That was the last year we had Thomas had on the men's team, 2018 through 19. And then what do you know, she suddenly number one, she, let's just go with the name here. Sebastian and Chris Kohls Review the 1984 Film "Beverly Hills Cop"
"We are here to make movies great again. I'm Sebastian gorka, and we are joined as ever. By mister Reagan, Chris Cole. Beverly Hills cop. Oh jeez. Why did you pick this move? I love it. Why did you pick this movie? Well, let me just say, I think this may be my favorite movie that we've done so far. And it's not because it's necessarily the best movie that we've done so far. But the reason is because I think it's the movie that I've seen the least often since I was a kid. I think probably it's been the movie that the longest amount of time has passed since I've actually watched it. And I kind of forgot how good it was. You know that it's a legend sort of intellectually in your head, right? You know, there's this legendary film. But it doesn't have a sequel like Ghostbusters does recently. You know, it hasn't been in the news like Back to the Future has recently. A lot of these films are kind of still in the public consciousness for whatever reason, Beverly Hills cop seems to have faded into obscurity and I'm not really sure why, but it really is a masterpiece. It's fantastic. This movie, although you look at these opening scenes in Detroit, yeah, it's dated. You look at the vehicles that cop cars, the cruises, yeah, this is a movie from 1984. But nevertheless, my word. I have to agree with you. This is just such a fun film to watch. And of course, it's the first movie that had Eddie Murphy in a title role that really this is the one that propelled him to international stardom.

"When you said a minute ago till the end of the month, I'm a representative. What did you mean by that? I retire as vicar of findon. Goodness, gracious me, I did not know that. Yeah. Yeah, no, I've signed my deed irrevocably surrendering the living of finding to the lord bishop of peterborough. Who broke your very nice letter saying, I'm sorry, but of course I understand. And why have you done that? Well, partly because I can, due to a most marvelous manager in pop music, she pushed a document in front of me in 1985, and required me to sign it, and of course I signed it without looking like any self respecting pop star would. But instead of her sort of taking all my money, she actually initiated a pension scheme, and it matured of my 60th birthday and provided me with the means to retire which is very nice. But more importantly, it was I've realized two and a bit years after David's death that I need to go somewhere else and do something different because I would make a bad mishap and actually have to get a bit rather a good mishap sitting surrounded by the relics of an absent love and being a custodian of his memory in an unchanging way and deeply appealing notion in some ways David would have adored it. But I did come to think in that lovely spring of lockdown as the flowers coming up and the garden went bananas and the birds say they thought I was done and I'd like to have another some more life after this and his mother said I read she said, yeah, you've got to do that. And I thought, well, if there is another nicely, then I need to do something. And also, I've been 11 years at find it. And I think I've exercised my virtues, but I've also been unable to entirely conceal my shortcomings, and I think somebody here who's good at the stuff I'd better would be really, really good. I'm sure they don't exist. So but you will have to move out of the vicarage. I mean, the middle of movie notice is the most traumatic experience since bereavement. I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah, is that just the packing? Or is it more than that? Well, done. This is terrible. But what the hell? So the day after I retire, the dogs and I will get in the motor coal, I drive somewhere, and decant ourselves for three days into a little cottage. And my PA, and her team will do the entire move. And then I will leave the cottage and drive to my new house, and all my socks will be in the draw. Goodness me, well that is all presumably thanks to that manager, push that piece of paper in front of you. Well, that also if you're a vicar, you could sort of stand blinking on a street corner and people will think your otherworldly and help you to the bus stop. "All. This is great. Have a listen. We are beautifully dressed in Gilles of high distinction. Oh, no, you've got paint marks on it. I don't know what that is. Well, I dread to think. You know, you get it where you can. Thank you so much for doing this. I can not tell you how excited I am. You are such a huge part of my life every Saturday morning. You are the soundtrack of my life. Wow. That's very nice to know. Slightly concerned that you're not having more fun in your life so that you're not actually conscious at night of Saturday morning, but that's for you, right? That's what I call fun. How are you very well? I think I've had my first day off today. In a very long time. So I went to have lunch with my friend misses H, who was a spectacular cook, but a little out of mind. So she made risotto, but she forgot to add the rice. Ah. So we had a sort of soup and then she could tell that something was wrong, but she had to really kind of gather herself before I didn't feel it was my place to say that normally risotto is a rice based dish and maybe sunrise at least would give it a bit of body and then she put it to one side and we had smoked trout pate instead. Okay, did you remember the toast with the pate? Everything else went well, but she just forgot to put the rice in there. I mean, she literally stood the ladling hot stock in and stirring away, but she literally got to put the racing. Yeah, it's not a dish of many ingredients. How are you at cooking? I do love cooking. I like it because I like eating, which is a good motivation obviously. But also I like it because you can do the whole process from shopping to eating. Indeed, to washing up and putting away. And all under your own steam and it gives me a glow of achievement if it goes okay. Are you a cooker for your self or are you a cooker for you want to cook for others? I cook for how to cook for anybody, but one of the things of so lockdown, of course, and bereavement came from the same time as me. So instead of cooking for two, which was the minimum, plus obviously scraps for dogs. I was cooking for one. And I thought, there's something so bleak about getting meals for one from the supermarket. I said, I just refused to do it. So I cooked what I would normally cook, put on a stone and had to buy a new freezer, but better that than live on some lonely lasagna, you know? Yes. I want to talk about your book a bit. I just thought it was fantastic. And I love the vivid way you describe people and things. And there's a lovely actually food related moment where someone says, would you like a sun dried tomato? I just thought it was such a lovely skewering of middle class British people. Well, also, the book is set in 1988. So you have a sort of, it's like a game of pelvic. You try to remember the tray of things that you would have held in 1988. Of course, I was living in islington, London's fashionable islington in 1988. And everywhere you went, it was sun dried tomatoes until they were coming out of your ears. So I needed to get some direct tomatoes in there. It's just a little I hesitate to compare it to Proust's Madeleine, but that would be entirely wrong. But I do think there's something about a sun dried tomato that just screams late 80s to me. Yes. And the way that English people talk to each other, you just capture beautifully. Thank you. Is that something you enjoy observing? I mean, it's for being a vicar, really. I'd love patterns of speech, and I love the way there's a lovely where I live in finding, which is not a place that many people know about because it's in a part of England that not even Cinderella would have spent any time I think. It's the flyover state northamptonshire of England. And it's people a kind of modest and sometimes one might even say taciturn, but there is a comedy in the patterns of speech that just makes me laugh. I was like, there's always work for a walk the other day. I was down back alley. There was a hand painted sign outside someone's backyard, and it just said clean up art of your Doug. And I just thought, that's nice. It's a bit of bother to paint a sign, but it painted it in the idiom of finding rather than. I love that. There's a lovely bit where you talk about with the congregation that wants the once the whistle of hearing aids had died down. That you were able to start. Familiar sound to any clergy person I can tell you is the sort of symphony of feedback that you get before people find the tea loop. It's all about finding the truth. And in a very real sense, aren't we all searching for the tea loop? Oh God yeah, and have I found it? Have I heck? Keep searching. Keep looking. Yeah, but it's funny when you talk about we talk about how people talk to each other because I always remember no galaga doing an interview about his divorce and he said he had to go for dinner with his barrister who was just very sort of smart English woman. And silence had fallen over the table because they just really had nothing to say to each other over this lunch. And then she went to ski. He said it became this sort of catch phrase of their house or whatever it went silent. They go. Well, it's very good. The thing is also, if you're a vicar in quite often, you find yourself in social situations where people are a little tongue tied and being anxious to be on their best behavior. And so rich opportunities for comedy arise with almost every conversation of Sally. And I think I've always had an attune to that kind of thing. I love Victoria Woods as one of my favorite writers. And I think no one has an ear for that. Quite like character she grew up in a part of the world where I have a friend where she's just she's dead though actually a lovely woman, mother of a friend of mine. And she lived in home first in Yorkshire and she was terribly authentic wonderful cook and look around and her best friend turned up and it was like being in a sort of sketch by Victoria wood the way these two women sort of talk to each other. Remember her. She cut a slice of cake and she said, oh, Nellie, you do get quite a slice of cake on a knife, don't you? And everything was like that just tiny little tart note to everything. And she was great. I love that. Individual personality in the way that people communicate is so it's lovely. You do it as well that you have such a wonderful turn of phrase. Thank you. It's heavenly. The read and to listen to. It's also compact, you see. And I think it's one of the, if diplomacy is war by other means, then I think social conversation in the sort of Church of England and circles is also a kind of form of its combat, but that the seamless kind, because we are competitive creatures and whenever we interact with each other, we banter and there's all sorts of colored.

"And I find that is perhaps dwindling. And that what's replacing it or what's asserting itself as that declines is something which is more fierce, rigorous. And I welcome it. And I think there are reasons for that people think what's important is to preserve the tradition to maintain faithfulness to the doctrines in the creeds and scripture and to without that it would lose authority without authority we'd have. No purchase in people's lives. And I get the arguments I just don't think this is the issue around which those arguments fall or stand. Where do you think will be or the church will be in 500 years time? Well, my clairvoyance is very poor as you would know if you saw my lamentable performance in football sweepstakes. So I don't know. I mean, the good news is, is that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead. So that's the good news, okay? And that's untouched by time indifference or anything..

"A little much. If it's a birthday or even a wedding, I don't know, day two, I'm over it. Can anyone relate? Am I just being a curmudgeon? I level the daytime stuff is just to staying up late stuff. I can't do the late night stuff on night two. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, okay? Are the big news in the Sweeney MacDonald household? Aside from my darling daughter, is Ridley, I'm looking at a very sad little doggie who has had two teeth out. And he's been to the doctor and he's literally got a bandage on his foot. From where they gave him general anesthetic. And he's all sad, he's sitting in his bed. All kind of spaced out. And it's very, very sweet. Poor little thing. We've been having lots of attention, he's soft food only for the week. He won't have sort teeth anymore, so it's a good thing, but it just breaks your heart seeing them or incapacitated can't believe it. I hate the dentist. He was in there all the time as a kid. Most people get how many teeth 30 I got 400. There was always new teeth coming out sprouting out of here there everywhere. My dad actually had a tooth growing out of the roof of his mouth when he was a kid, which is literally I'm not joking in the 1940s that God knows what they did with it then. Probably just took a hammer to it. But this isn't a dentist podcast, my dear Friends, it is an actual home sapiens podcast the world. From earthquake perspective. Let me tell you all about this week's episode. We are continuing our mega pride lineup and we've got rev richer calls on the show today. He is one of the most famous figures in the UK. He is one of the funniest people in the UK. I'm going to call him a national treasure, although did you see in the platy tubes, TV coverage, everyone who came on, they said, I'm here with national treasure, and it was like, you know, sometimes it was stretching it a little. Reverence and cold, on the other hand, he certainly a queer national treasure. I think he's a national treasure. Star of strictly, he was in the bloody communards for God's sake. So it's one of the sort of pioneers of queer pop. That's for sure. And now Pruitt is presenting sassy kitchen on radio four, which is not such a kitchen. It's actually live, sorry, which I listened to every week. And still can't get the name right. And he's got a book out called murderer evening song. The time around to check my bookshelf. It's brilliant. I've read it. I can highly recommend it. And anyway, he is just a lovely man and just talks really honestly about grief. Because he lost his dialing husband, David, and he's written beautiful books over the years, one of which is about grief, really. So we're going to have a good old gas capital G capital O capital G on that. Can't wait for you to hear that. And did you listen to last week's episode? It's got such a wonderful reaction from you all. Just don't think we've had a reaction like that to an episode actually. It's where we sort of did pride in schools and mister matley and Leah were our first guests for the first half, which was sort of like an expanded meat, the listener thing talking about mister Matthew's amazing sort of LGBT inclusion scheme that at his school and Lear and how she found it as a pupil and how it's changed her life. And then the second half, the kids took over homo sapiens and hillcrest primary school created their very own pride podcast about what pride means to the peoples that teachers and the kids did the whole thing. They ran the whole thing. It was flipping. They need to work with it. It was flipping brilliant. So thank you for your lovely messages. They'll have a reader summit a sec. Before I do that, don't forget to get in touch, hello, homo sapiens podcast dot com, Instagram, homo sapiens. Now, bitter stirring from puppy. I've put him in his basket in front of the fire so he stays nice and warm. Lots of like noises, you know, they do a big sigh out. And then a bit of. Let's have a look at emails. Okay, so Tom, hello Thomas, thank you for writing in. Well, that episode was a brilliant start to Pride Month. Talking about schools one. Great to hear from people's teachers and parents talking about their experiences as members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community. The people's podcast of hillcrest was excellent. The part where they were talking about the LGBT plus person they admire completely subverted my expectation. I thought they'd name this celebrity or that famous figure but to hear them say their uncle their aunts got parents mom was so heartwarming, having gone through school in the 90s and early 2000s under section 28. It's great to see the progress made in this area. Lovely. It's so true, isn't it Thomas? I particularly love that bit. And heartwarming is the word. It was just a magical thing. I remember when I first heard it, I was just so struck by how eloquently it was just incredible. Greg then got in touch. Greg is in America. I'm going to say. Which is really interesting context once you read the message. This is about her quest primary school podcast. It was a truly jaw dropping episode. Greg, stop. With each question, I grew more amazed that students could be so poisoned or provoking. I certainly would not have been at their age, even if such a resource had been a possibility back then. It makes me so hopeful and yet so sad to know that if anything like this were made in the U.S., it would be Fox News fodder for weeks. That's so interesting, Greg. Thank you so much for sharing this in all that you do. And thank goodness, podcasts haven't been banned here yet and can reach people who need them. Too right. Gin soaked full has also been in touch. Sounds like one or two of my exes. That's a joke. I don't mean that, but any of my exes is just an open goal of a joke. I don't mean it. I don't mean it. On Instagram about the Arthur Parkinson episode. So so many of you have been in touch about Arthur's episode actually as well. I adored listening to your chat, says jinx hopeful. Arthur's unhindered honesty surrounding his depression was so helpful and relatable. If you ever stop making this podcast, I shall wear black and wander the streets in a veil like a grief stricken Italian Nonna. Oh, I mean, for the black lace alone, I'm in gen sequel. Arthur, a lot of people got in touch, which I thought was really interesting because Arthur's very open about his depression as far as I know. A lot of you got in touch saying you knew Arthur but you didn't know that that side of him. And it was really helpful to see that side of him and hear him speak in that way. It helped you understand him more. He is so open. I just amazed by Arthur and his complete capability to be open and honest. He's a wonderful wonderful man. And I'm really pleased it connected with you. Then so we then we were asking you on Instagram. These are so good. What these are so good. I can't, I can't even go and do what I can. I'm about to. So we shared this question from someone that they had shared on Twitter, Gabby Hanna. I think it came from gabbie Hanna, but you know when people share things you never quite sure who the source is. I'm trying to attribute it correctly, but yeah, gabbie Hanna. What some dumb as fuck shit, you believed as a dumb as fuck kid. Lots of swearing in there. I'll start. I thought that every time you heard a song on the radio that the artist was singing it right then live at a radio station somewhere. So you all wrote in so many funny ones. Mandarin and kirchen said, I also believe that clouds were made by chimneys. I totally thought that. I can't believe you did as well and I totally forgotten that because you'd look up and you would see a cloud above a chimney, like a literally can do it now and it was so logical and it's logic, isn't it? This person also says I thought you could walk on clouds if you got above them. I cried when I found out the truth are blessed. Also makes complete sense. And he says, I thought llamas had two heads as one as each end because a doctor dolittle I was 13. Annie, I'm so pleased you say that because I thought they did as well. And because they were called push me pull me, weren't they? I didn't say funny you say that you thought it was a new 13. Like it went on for a long time for me and I was too scared to ask and I was like, that's alarming, but I'm sure there is a two headed version of that. And I was never actually able to remember that it was from doctor Doolittle until many years later, I think I must have watched it again. Nicolas says, I used to think the instrumental bit of a song was your chance to sing it yourself. Brilliant. I mean, I'll take the whole song to sing to myself. Robert says, when I was a kid, mom let me enter the smart art phone competition. I remember the answer was paper when it went through to the pre recorded voicemail. I thought Kirsten O'Brien would pick up the phone. I had an asthma attack because I thought she was waiting to pick up the calls of bless. The excitement was powerful. Craig said, I thought when films were black and white that the world was also black and white, that's hysterical quick. Well, that's the olden days. There was talked about the olden days. When you grow up you're like, oh, that's literally ten years before I was born. A kid said it to me the other day actually. They talked about the olden days and I was like wrestling thinking sort of Spice Girls album two era, but fine. Haiti says I thought it was illegal to have your interior light on when driving. I mean, it's not illegal Haley is it, but have you tried driving with it on? You can't see a bloody thing. And also I bet that was a parent who told you that because we always used to want to turn on the light in our car and I remember my dad was always like, no, you can't because he couldn't see anything, but I don't know why we wanted to. Especially if he wanted to read. When smartphones back then would you believe it in the olden days? Prince 71 says I thought the lady at the register in the supermarket got to keep all the money. It makes complete sense. I remember saying when someone said to me, what did I want to be when I was older when I was a little kid? I said, I would like to be a burglar because you've got everything for free. Yeah, made complete logical sense like you're supermarket thing. 5 one one four says the crispy bit in peanut butter were horses hooves. Oh my God, your sisters are so naughty. He says, thanks, sisters. My sister, if you're listening, she does actually listen. She told me mouth ulcers you have to squeeze them. How mean is that so squeezing this mouth also to let blood? God bless sisters hey, Bjorn says I thought Santa Claus the movie was a documentary deadly serious Bjorn. I love that. Those are hysterical. I love them. Thank you so much for wearing those in. Let's go have a listen to this chat with web and Richard Cole's reverend Richard goals. I love it. I love him. I love you. I.

"Think, it's actually what you said, there are parts of me vulnerabilities that I have never allowed. To exist and they're really important parts of me and I am deficient in some ways because of that. And then with David, I found somebody who was absolutely determinedly taking me into all those places, and they had to take off my armor. And make myself vulnerable. And it was essential to do it because I don't want to live a life where I'm deprived of that stuff. I want to live a life that is open to pain and joy, and excitement and fear, challenge, and anxiety and fulfillment. Life in its fullness, which is what Christ says the offer is, it's not happiness is not contentment, serenity, its life in its fullness, but that also means you get kicked in the bollocks, you know? Yeah, 100%. And isn't it great to learn that you can be kicked in the bollocks and carry on and not it's not going to end you to live in fear of it is no life. Fear is the worst just at the toxic effects of unacknowledged fear. Everyone has their dynamics to realize, but I think it's a very common one in people. I've just interested that I look around and I look at my own parish and I look at the kids in our school and I look at my parishioners and those who have realized that they are LGBT, it's not a big deal. I still a big deal for some, but actually the world is kinder, their friends are supportive, their families are often supportive, not always, but much more often than in my day. And I think this is really good. This is what is worth fighting for. And then sometimes I had a boy who was 50 who took his own life. He was, he was a gay guy, and he had everything which should have protected him from that terrible failure of self regard or self preservation. And he took his own life. It was devastating for everybody, and I thought, it's still really dangerous for young LGBT people. Really dangerous. It's really dangerous, obviously, an awful places where people are still routinely discriminated against and treated with unspeakable violence and cruelty. And it's difficult for me because until the end of the month, I have a paid representative of an organization which has not distinguished itself with behaving justly towards LGBT people and one of the toughest things in my life has been justifying how I remain part of that institution. And at the same time recognize the effect that's had on people's lives. And where are we at with the church and LGBT Ness? Well, I mean, there are two answers to that question. If you go to my parish or for many other parishes, you would walk in and find a catering of people who are exactly like the people everywhere. So we have LGBT members who just get on with it. We have people who have LGBT sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sisters who are brothers and brothers, who are sisters and so on. And that's just how life is and that's good. But if you go into some churches or if you go up a level, you will find an organization which is still for reasons that are profound and sincerely held and historic, just by the idea that equality can be offered to people through LGBT unthinkable. And we've had an ongoing debate about it for many, many years, and that's gone through various iterations. It's generally ended with people saying comforting words and doing nothing. And I think lots of people are impatient with that now..

"Reverend Richard coles. What can I say other than if you haven't heard part one, go and listen to that on the feed and then come back to part two. If you have is part two. Did you ever have any kind of therapy afterwards? Yeah. A year after he died and after I've been talking to a friend of mine who is a bereavement therapist, she recommended I contact someone and I've been seeing a bereavement therapist now for every year. It should have been fantastic. Yeah, really good, but it was a year before I could even do that. And I don't know why. I just, I think it was so enormous, I couldn't think how can I get this into words? How can I even embark on a pass which is going to go into this somehow? I felt like I felt like I was being in some tiny little spacecraft trying to reenter earth atmosphere at an unpropitious angle. And I would bounce off and disappear into space. You described it as I thought it was lovely turn of phrase, which was grief is like being on a holiday, you don't want to be on. A tourist in a place you don't want to be. Yeah. And it is this endless war ground and unpromising town of boring churches and closed galleries and bad restaurants. But the seed changes all the time, but you keep finding yourself in the same old street with a mid priced hotel where the Internet doesn't work, you know? Actually significant a lot of days at places like that, Chris. I've been on some dodgy holidays. Let me tell you. I know exactly what you mean about you can't do anything about it for a year afterwards, because I remember when my dad died, my mom, I said, oh, you know, let's do some let's get you some grief counseling. But it wasn't for a year. You know, like it's almost like the ringing is too loud..

Okay the five types of boundaries types. One and two physical and sexual. We already talked about physical. Now let's talk about sexual boundaries. What are some examples of sexual boundary violations. Terry somebody really touching you in a sexual way right without your expressed permission. Yeah right so think about your sex your sexual boundaries. Right you alone get to decide what kind of sexual touches okay. With whom how often when the your intimate exchanges need to be so determined so someone coercing you pressuring you or forcing you to be sexual with them or behaving in any way. That makes you uncomfortable commenting on your body. And they're like you should be. You should be flattered even though it makes you feel gross. And it's not flattering to you that that is the sexual boundary violation. Someone grab you massaging your shoulders making the heat on them if you don't want it if it's unwelcome if it makes you feel uncomfortable violation. Yeah i didn't have thought about it as being verbal but yeah the cat calls like hey baby at such a. it's such a violation. It's like i'm not your baby. I remember once when. I used to bartend when i lived in upstate. New york terry. He'll he'll he'll think this is so funny. This guy used to come in and sit at the bar and call me beaver. He'd say hey beaver. Give me a beer and i. I said i'm not for animal that lives in the woods. Don't talk to me like that and this was like in my twenties But i mean people just think they a lot of it is man. I i think they're more violators than than women. When it comes to verbal right Sexual boundaries traditionally tradition yummy and with strangers. I would say definitely. Yeah so crazy. How some people think it's acceptable to talk that to one another. But so how do we measure our sexual boundary baseline part of it..

"Well i do. Think there's more move coming but i think they're also understanding that the curve of these guys like they're going to have to come back to that that middle line which means that the second half offensively is gonna be much better overall as a team right so but yes. They made moves. Look my guy louis. Lewisham is now off. The team that saw i did lewis was actually an effective right handed reliever out of the bullpen. For a number of years did not get the respect. Overall that he deserved. I gave him the respect. My guy chris hope gave him the respect. we both. We both mourned on twitter via via twitting at twitting via tweeting about that. I like twitting better than tweet. It's it it's a damn shame that he got Move because he was there. As basically the bait to get justin wilson contract off of the books which is an inch be that needs to be pointed out and fairly criticized they in of course he does said salary relief and also roster forty men player relief had to basically. Just give away lewis sessa to get ready because we had to be under this this this luxury tax salary cap. We had to actually give away defective player. Which there aren't that many of them on this team right now mind you. This was a guy that was doing very well this year too and we got rid of him essentially to salary dump and that salary now the gallows being paid for is still open. It's still there so to me. There's another move wiggle room. They have the ability to make another move right now and the way that cashman's talking to keeping money with giving them lower level prospects. A lot of those guys were in aa are are in single a. La the those are those are lottery. Tickets ended the yankees organization. How many of those guys actually pan out. There's just not that many of them and you'd have to play through some people for that to happen so you know see. I thought it was a good move by cashman when you look at the look at what he did and look at the needs that he had to fill at this point. This season will see between now and the deadline. What they do if anything with that extra salary room but if they do if they don't do anything that i think. There is fair criticism in the sense. That okay you gave away louise sesa for salary room and potentially you overpaid and prospects in order to get texas to take on the full salary of joey gallo. What if if the yankees agreed to take half of joey gallo salary they only had to go three prospects instead of four. Yeah that's fair. Because the yankees being the organization that they are being the most valuable franchise in in in one of the most franchises in sports should be able to to make a decision. If they like a guy they should be able to keep him. They have the financial wherewithal to be able to keep a guy and not have to actually get a talented person in order to stay under an arbitrary line agreed totally agreed fundamentally. It's a problem. But i think i'm not like the biggest joey gallo fan because he strikes out a thirty percent rate is a low two hundred average hitter. But he's adam does so but he no he he's. He's out on the field. Okay that's that makes him way better but offensively he's adam done okay maybe but But when you look at what. The alternatives were for the yankees. I think this is a no brainer. I think you have to look at it in that vacuum sadri the evaluating joey gallo. It's okay joey. Gallo is a good player. You might not love his style but man is he so much better than brett gardner right now. Of course i know greg allen had that hot three games. But he's way better than greg allen right now. So he is legitimately their second best outfielder by a mile. He's also got the ability to play in different places. I mean i don't know how many games he played at first but he's got the ability to play there. He's got the ability to play in senator. He's got the ability to play after right so he does. Add some flexibility with what you need in the outfield and to be a quality bat as well. It's left lefty bad at that. That gives a little bit more balance in this lineup. Look at it it is. It does fit what they're trying to do the fact that they got him for essentially free cash for the next two years this year next year is a good move i it is and the prospects that cashman gave up. I'm still because of the control. The control a big deal like that other that extra year deal. I wouldn't have been surprised that they had to give give up those same prospects for just half of the year. Joey gallo to be honest would not have shocked. Those four prospects for the half a year i mean. I don't think that many people would have been like all that upset about that either but the fact that they got another year out of him as crazy they don't pay for it. Yeah i i don't know what the competition was for joey. Gallo because the as also acquired outfielder they got starling. Marta you're obviously chasing the as there's other moves being being done at the deadline. I know like max scherzer potentially is going to the padres. That was the latest update. We just got. We're recording this about four thirty in the afternoon on thursday so again i just don't know how much competition there was for joey. Gallo from everything out there. You're you're there are reports out there. That say that there was a lot of competition and they had. They had to up offer at the last minute in order to get him so from all from all reports across twitter. Dir a billion of them that they had to be competitive at the end and they did they actually put up the players that texas was looking for to make that deal that that's what it seems. It seems like they actually increase the offer to do that. Don't know what they offer then prospect wise.

He's got three sixty. Ira the walks are down only to walks in twenty innings. That's huge for lengthy for him. It is huge. I mean he's getting to pitch in. Texas is once he stay in texas in. You know in that amazing place to pitch. That's ugly on the outside but beautiful on the inside. I really like him. And i streamed him last week of for the oakland and in seattle starts. I'm happy with what i got from him. I don't know if i in some of my weekly leagues. i them out this week in some. I didn't just because he got. He's got oakland again for the third time that's right right. Yeah and then just that scares out of me understandably in some ways. I didn't have a choice. So you know in my mid event. Like i said i didn't have. I didn't have many options to your way for the schedule. The break did nuts. So i'm open. He doesn't like get crushed. Being seen the third time in you know two weeks but i really like what fulton average is doing and i think he is especially your deeper leagues is someone people should take a look at As a kind of a team stream room for it. Yeah i think so too on faulty and Just throw an ad on guy who was picked up a lot this week off. Their team is colby. Allard was pitching well and he was fine against the tigers for his first start. He's also been pitching while. I think both of them could be around and i don't know that either them is necessarily going to be. I mean our twenty. Three's not getting traded but even faulty at twenty nine. We'll see maybe if he runs this this week and then out of the break pitching well and generate some. But i don't know that it would be enough for them to want to trade him. So i think he'll stick around in texas and just keep starting every fifth day as well there so the they got a few guys in addition to all star kyle gibson. Boom a well done man. He's awesome. he's awesome one. Nine eighty are a one four whip. He's been incredible. There are no two ways around it. You would think the combination of cedric moans. And kyle gibson have me in first place in every one of my leads legs right now. Maybe a few and listen far far. Be it for me to just go around and back patting us to aggressively. But i will say there were two guys that you know if you listen to the show in the off season probably likely to have these guys on more teams than not based off our promotion of them if you if you liked what we were saying. And that's cedric moans. Jared walsh and they're both all stars. So i felt pretty good about that. You know we don't get anything right. I know that for sure. But you know when you put when you plant your flag and it's on a couple of guys that are mid late round guys. I mean mullins was dirt cheap. Walsh had some juice but he was still very affordable as well and they both make the all star team. I felt pretty good about that. So a little kudos to us on the all star break there if i can be so bold as to As to brag a little bit and then throw in your kyle gibson love as well and you know we got. We got small stars out there. So yeah. I mean a little bit right just a little a little bit of bragging again. We got plenty. We got plenty of stuff wrong that we can get hammered on so we'll take a little a little love here and there but yeah mullins is fourth in the outfield are you. Are you kidding. Me between nicosia annalisa jd..
