"Mike Gallagher. Tell Biden he's off his rocker. My wife is going through breast cancer as we speak. He's an ignorant son of a gun. And you know, that's the kind of cruelty that is inflicted upon a guy like him to pretend you cured cancer, to even say those words out loud. I said and remember when he said it years ago and I called him out then and we talked about it and I said, how dare he? I'm going to cure cancer. Now he's taking credit for curing cancer. And tell that to that guy who we're praying for and praying for his wife, whose wife is battling breast cancer as we speak. Any of us who have been down that road of being a caregiver, a spouse, a loved one, a son or daughter or parent should be enraged at Biden's audacity. It's sickening. It's sickening. Bill's in Sarasota, Florida. Bill, welcome to the show. How are you? Good, yourself? I'm well, thanks. I'm just so frustrated at the at the crap they're throwing at us. I totally agree. You call on the air, you said three choices. I'm going to choose C. And I believe that was the first time he said it because he's also said eight times and it becomes the truth. I think we just heard the first time and you hear it many more times so he can convince us that it's the truth. Repeat the lie often enough and it becomes reality for people. You're not going to want to miss a conversation that I'm looking forward to having in just a few minutes with an author and a columnist named Adam B. Coleman. He writes for The New York Post, Newsweek, Epoch Times, The Federalist. He's the founder of WrongSpeak Publishing. He wrote a piece, a column about Kamala Harris's ugly lies about the Florida curriculum that is perfection. It's the perfect response to when these people lie the way they do. And whether it's Biden lying about cancer or Kamala Harris lying about the Florida curriculum and Republicans and race and slavery over and over again. These people, whether it's the lie that says you're a wingnut conspiracy theorist, if you have questions about the 2020 election and you have suspicions that it wasn't legitimate.

Experiencing the Mystery of Christian Faith With Stephen Strang
"Talking to Stephen strang, founder of charisma magazine, who has a new book out called spirit led living in an upside down world, and I'm glad Stephen that we're talking about this because as I just said, we went to the break so many people, they have a very bleached kind of desiccated intellectualized, rationalistic view of the Christian faith. They don't understand that there's mystery that there is the life of the Holy Spirit. They've not experienced that. Maybe they've not experienced miracles or they've only seen weird people experience that. But you and I know that this is God's will for us as Christians. Absolutely. My book is practical, it's experiential. It is not really theological, although I will stand behind the theology. You know, I'm a journalist. I'm not a theologian. I'm not never been a pastor. But I've lived a long time now, and I've seen God work. I've had my own set of problems and trials. I've had to reach out to God. I've had to get victory over things. I've had to believe God, you mentioned charisma magazine. It's just started as a dream. I had to believe it into existence in a way. The gift of faith, I write a light in there about Kenneth Copeland and we call him papa Hagan. And I interview a lot of people. I interviewed Catherine Coleman back in the day, but that's amazing. You must have just been a kid. Seriously, that's quite a while ago. It was. And I think I did the last. I did it for the Orlando sentinel where I worked at the time. Can you believe a secular paper sent me to cover a Catherine Coleman rally? She was a big, big cultural figure, I know, become friends with Mario Morello. He was telling me stories about her. And you know, she obviously lived into the 1970s, but still I interviewed her about 9 months before she died. And I think it was probably the last major interview she had before she died.

"We'll be right back. We're talking to John Coleman whose new book is titled miracles. In the swing line we shall make on that view. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm talking to John Coleman who has written a new book titled miracles, we're joking around C. S. Lewis wrote a book called miracles. I wrote a book called miracles, but this is a work of fiction. It's a novel. And it deals with the subject of miracles. We just have a few minutes left, John Coleman. So what have we not touched on in your book miracles or on the subject? Well, one thing I think both of our books investigate and I'd love to get your read on is, you know, when people think of the miraculous, they often think explicitly of healings, right? That's one of Jesus most common miracles in the New Testament. But it does ignore the variety of things that can happen. They think of external healings not internal healings, which is one distinction I think you draw in your book, which I think is true. And Jesus even talks about how much greater to be able to forgive sins to bring someone to faith than to heal their bodies. But we forget about that. I think when we think of the miraculous, dreams and signs, which are something I explore in the book of debt, the protagonist begins to experience these. I loved in your book how you talked about how a dream actually was part of the inspiration for Bond hoffer, for example, and I don't know if you've talked about that on your show before. And so one of the things I would encourage people to do who are listening is to open themselves up to the variety of miracles beyond what you narrowly think of with healing because we often pray for that, right? And it's certainly important. But two things like inner healing, the conversion of people, healing people of mindsets that are holding themselves back, connecting them to their families or to God, dreams that can show them a path forward or sometimes in Craig keener and others cover this. In areas that are not exposed to Christ, for example, are exposed to the New Testament. People will have dreams that actually reveal that to them and allow them a path to Christ. And so one of the things I hope I hope the books help points out and I think your book does as well is just the variety of different miraculous experiences that people can experience. I mean, my conversion, which I write about in several of my books, it was a dream, and it was utterly miraculous. There's just no way around it, mind-blowing life-changing overnight. The second dream I've ever had that was miraculous, you're right, was connected to my writing the Bond offer book. And it was insane. I had this baroque clear dream and literally the next day what I dreamt came true. It was one of the most, I mean, it's just one of those things that you just, you have no words, even to describe it. You just say, this is an insane miracle of God. I want to tell the world, so I wrote about it in my book miracles because I just wanted to tell at least the people who read my book miracles, but these things are real. And as you're saying, the variety is astonishing. And if I hadn't experienced them myself, I don't know what I would be saying about them. I really don't know, but I've experienced so many. I have so many friends that have experienced them. I think it's really important. I also think John that we're living at a time when God is making himself more real. Because we're going through such difficulty in the nation and in the world. So your book miracles, I hope will open people up to that, to open yourself up and say, God, if you're real, show yourself to me, make yourself real to me. And again, I want to be clear. Some people hear from God all every day, and that's real. I don't, in that way, but I have a few times, and so in your book, you open us up to the possibility. Can you give us a hint at where the plot goes? Yeah, so it is, it's not a purely happy ending. I'll say that much, Eric. And I think that reflects reality, right? Because on one hand, the existence of the Supernatural of God of miracles gives us remarkable hope, right? Because the God of the universe being someone who loves us created a cinema his image and is willing to intervene in the physical world and to care for us is the greatest source of hope that we can have. And yet we are still taught that this world is not our home that it will contain suffering that it won't be deliverance here. It'll be deliverance in the hereafter. And so I think what the book hopefully helps people grapple with is this unbelievable eternal hope that we have that anyone can access. Intention with the suffering that we will experience in this world. Man, I'm afraid we're at a time. Ladies and gentlemen, grab a copy of the book miracles by John Coleman, John Coleman. Thank you..

"Done now while quantities last again use code Eric and save my pillow dot com. Folks, I'm talking to John Coleman about his new book. It is a novel, a work of fiction, but it deals with the miraculous and John, you were just talking about, and I get this. Many people, they've been really heartbroken because they prayed for someone. I think my friend Dick Cavett, his mother died when he was 9 or ten. And somebody said, well, if you pray really hard, your mother will get healed. And I'm sure he prayed and she died. And you know, how many people have stories like that? And it has really angered them. And so that's a reason that many people are hostile and skeptical, skeptical to the miraculous. And it's understandable you feel for people who have suffered that kind of tragedy. And it is a theological point and I think you explore it quite deeply in your own book and it's one of the subtle theological points I try and bring up in ours, which is, why do miracles happen to summon and not others? Why isn't everyone healed? And one of the ways that the person who ends up performing the miracles, I won't give away the name right now. Has a discussion with the protagonist Jamie at one point about this topic. And one of the points that he makes is, look, the whole point of miracles is to point to something else. We heal people, but they're still going to die. All of us are going to die. This world is material, it's ephemeral. It's not something that we can count on. The point of miracles isn't to make this world perfect. It's to help point us towards a more perfect world. And if those miracles aren't just an indication, certainly there are help to people in the moment, but they're reminding us that there is more than this world that there's a Supernatural world beyond this, and that there is a God who loves us. But this world will never be made perfect. But it's still a real tension that people live with in the midst of this world of suffering, why can't I be relieved of that suffering? And I think it's something that we as believers have to grapple with just like the problem of evil as we seek to develop a more fully formed theology of what Christianity means. Well, I really, I do want to say that I've experienced the same frustration because I know miracles are real, but there are times when you pray for someone's healing or even my friend Ken fish who is tremendously gifted and anointed in praying for people's healing. He's prayed for people that I have known really well who have not gotten better and they've died and you just, you say, lord, I don't get it. Why do sometimes you heal and sometimes you don't. And so that is real. And I think it can create a bitterness and an anger. So I struggle with that myself because it takes something to believe, to have faith. But there are a lot of other people who the reason they shy away. I think is because they want to have some kind of respectable Christianity. Like, oh, we don't do that weird stuff here. Not like Jesus, or we'll let Jesus do it because he did in 2000 years ago and he was God, but we don't do that. We have nice Bible studies, but we don't do that. And I think it's based on fear. I mean, you do encounter this, right? I mean, I think there's a fear both of how they'll be perceived in society, right? What it will mean if their friends start to judge them. If they seem like a wacko, there's also kind of a subtle fear what if this is true? What if God can reach into the material world and change things? And what does that mean for me if this Supernatural world exists? Because if the miraculous is possible, other types of Supernatural interventions are possible. Maybe the book of revelations is possible. It opens up this entire world that seems out of our control, right? Because we understand the physical limits of reality, but if this place outside reality is real and we have to grapple with that, I think there's a very real fear of what that could mean for us as well. Right, so a lot of people are living as practical atheists, basically. They're actually not trusting God. They're afraid of that God. He's kind of wild and they wanted domesticated kitty cat as land. Because it is more respectable..

One of the stories I think it's, yeah, it's in the book. It's in my book miracles about the Christmas cross. I remember sharing that story with this incredibly intelligent person right after it happened. And I was so freaked out. It was one of the most miraculous things I've ever experienced. And this person said, yeah, the mind does funny things sometimes. And I said, did you just hear what I said? And you're thinking my mind in front of you, you're not paying attention. You're not being logical. People like really smart people sometimes they don't have the category of the miraculous. They have to just bracket it out because it's too disturbing. Well, and that's one of the tensions I like to explore in the book is, you know, the reaction is not just that the secular world, but of the Christian community. I don't think would be unified around miracles. Correct. And I saw that manifesting in two ways. One, I do think a lot of people that are highlighted, there's a story of a woman named Cheryl street in the book. And I won't ruin too much of it, but she experiences a miracle. She's from a relatively kind of quiet conservative denomination. And she's almost embarrassed to speak about it with the rest of the congregation with her pastor because they kind of think she's probably fooling herself, that it's her mind playing tricks on her. They don't think it could have really happened. And so here's this sincere Christian woman who thinks she's who has experienced the miracle. But when she shares it, she meets skepticism in the church. And then on the other side, not just skepticism, but I think that some Christians, depending on the source of that miraculous happening, we actually feel divided by it would feel aggressive towards the person performing those or those claiming them, it could be false prophecy. And I think there's a real tension in that. I actually experienced this. I got angry. I have two friends. I won't mention their names. But their stories are in my book on miracles. And they were really uncomfortable about having their names published, and I thought, what is wrong with you? People are going to be helped by this. It's a true story. I know both these people are brilliant, like Ivy League graduates. They have these amazing stories insanely miracle, obviously miraculous, obviously true, but they were really different about this concept of, I don't know. I want to be private about I thought, why do you think God did this miracle in your life? So you can share it and encourage others, and it happened every time. I would say to people, I would say to friends and doing my research for my book miracles, I said, have you ever had a miraculous story and they go like, yeah, but I've never really told anyone, and my head explodes. What is wrong with you? Why have you never told anyone? This is so beautiful. So amazing. And by the way, you're cowardice, your fear on this is preventing others from telling their stories because these things are real. More people listening to this right now have experienced something Supernatural and they're like, oh, I never. I don't ever talk about it. I want to encourage people to talk about it. It's one of the reasons I want to have you on the program because we need to talk about talking about miracles. So your book, of course, is also titled miracles, but you deal in it as, I mean, I don't, in my book, I just tell the stories, but you deal because it's a novel with how people freak out and kind of back away and they're willing to accept anything other than the God of the Bible did this. That's exactly right. You know, least rebel has done interesting work on this where more than a third of Americans claim to have experienced miracles or the Supernatural. But to your point, Eric almost none of them talk about it. It's very rare that someone will volunteer that information. And then even if they've experienced it and I believe I may have experienced miracles in my own life, they encounter other stories with skepticism, right? It's almost like we don't want to believe that the Supernatural can occur. And one of the most interesting things to explore in fiction is that reaction when something incredible happens. So there's a miracle early on where one of the first public miracles is caught on camera is someone healing the person in the book healing someone who's blind of sight, which is such a great metaphor as well as a real miracle that happens. And the shock of people, the kind of riot that breaks out around it, the way the narrator of the story, the protagonist responds to that almost unbelievable occurrence, those reactions of people are one of the most fascinating things I think to explore in a work of fiction. I just, I love it. And I think I just love the fact that it's challenging people. Because I really, again, I'm all about this. I feel like the alternative makes no sense. Knows the idea that we're living in a materialistic world where there's nothing outside the material. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm just here to break it down for you. That is stupid. And if you have bought that narrative, which is, you know, it's the easy narrative to buy. It's like, if you're living in Nazi Germany, all the Jews are evil. Okay, I'm on board. Yeah, right, right. Well, ladies and gentlemen, sometimes the popular narrative is wrong. And once you look into it, it's ridiculous. So the idea that we're living in a world where there is no spiritual dimension, we're not saying you have to agree with our interpretation of exactly what it is. But the idea that there is no spiritual dimension, these things don't happen. It's just so stupid. I mean, the Big Bang, if you believe that the world was created ex nihilo, how do you explain that? I mean, so it goes on and on. I find it funny, John. I just find it funny. Well, and one of the more tragic and empathetic things are and I explore this. Even when the protagonist who faced this in her life, some people have a hard time believing in miracles because they haven't experienced one because they've experienced some tragedy. They had someone pass away. That's right. Suffered through something in their life. And that's one of the great human tragedies and Supernatural mysteries is just why miracles happen to summon to others. And it is, I'm empathetic to those who have experienced great tragedy in their life who prayed sincerely and then didn't even okay..

John Coleman Deals With Skepticism in His New Novel 'Miracles'
"To John Coleman about his brand new book. It is a novel, which is to say a work of fiction with the title miracles, as you know, I wrote a book about miracles, which is nonfiction, C. S. Lewis, wrote a book about miracles, nonfiction. This is a novel, a work of fiction, but John in the book you deal with what's right at the center of all of our lives. The skepticism, there are people. I have told some miracle stories. Finally! A Novel About 'Miracles' With John Coleman
"Glad that you set your hand to writing a novel that deals with the subject of actual miracles. Well, what got me fascinated in that topic was just to think about this idea. We live in a world now of omnipresent smartphones, social media, et cetera. And you kind of think if something Supernatural were happening, we'd know about it, right? Because someone would catch it on video, it would go viral. And as I started to dig into it, they're actually people on YouTube claiming that the miraculous have happened, claiming to portray miraculous things. And so it started to occur to me that the reaction wouldn't be universal that it would actually be as divisive as uniting. And that started me thinking about what would it look like if something miraculous started going viral and how would the world react, which is such an interesting thought experiment for me to kind of play out in a fictional world?

John Coleman Joins Eric to Discuss His New Book 'Miracles'
"You know that I wrote a book with the title miracles that ended up being a New York Times Best Seller. And I found out that some other guy recently wrote a book with the title miracles. And I was like, that's not okay. I'm going to have him on the program. I want to confront him on this program, his name is John Coleman, John Coleman. Welcome to the program. Hi, Eric. Thanks so much for having me on. You know, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So listen, when I ripped off C. S. Lewis's title miracles, I thought only I could get away with that, but you have ripped off his title and my title and I want to say congratulations to you. I wanted to say that on the air. Now the difference between your book and my book no kidding is that your book is a work of fiction actually, right? It's a novel titled miracles and it's as if the impossible happened today, what would it take for the world to believe? Now you, sir, or a writer who lives in Atlanta, the author of four books, and you or your work have been highlighted in The New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times, LA times, Christianity today, Forbes, Harvard Business review, among other publications, holy cow. What have you been writing about all these years when you're not writing a novel about miracles, which will be discussing? You know, Eric, this is actually my first work of fiction. So primarily up until this time, the books have been oriented towards personal and professional development leadership. So last year I wrote HBR's guide to purpose about finding your crafting purpose in your life. And my articles with HBR are often about personal and professional development HBR as the Harvard Business review. That's correct. I spit on Harvard. No, I went to Yale and to be perfectly accurate. I spit on both of them. No, but seriously, that's interesting. What made you decide to write a novel on the subject, you know, dealing with the theme of miracles? Yeah. You know, I've always loved fiction Eric and when I was younger, I tended to write some, although never a book. And I was really inspired by two things to take this on as a project. One, I watched popular culture and I thought, man, we've got a lot of really great storytelling these days, but very seldom does it realistically portray religion or religious belief. And so when you look at apocalyptic shows, you'd expect people to be praying or following rabbis or priests or preachers. And yet they're almost totally absent. And then if you look at the Christian fiction side of things, it very rarely explores the full gamut of human experience and so there's a lot of kind of Christian romance novels or adventures, but it's often tilts towards more of a hallmark variety and so there wasn't a melding between those two

So just so everybody knows. Well, we're all, we were both, we get under the people's skin. We have germs, but we don't need to get into that. We are more than the sum of our germs. Let me just be real clear. Now, I just want to say that we had John's American hour one in our two today coming up, we have John Coleman, who's written a book about miracles. It's miracle Monday. Buckle your seat belt. Okay. Several things I want to share. We have a number of new sponsors on the program. One of them is the Israel ministry of tourism. If you can, and you can go to Holy Land, Israel travel. Holy Land dot Israel dot travel, there's a video there. I know that I'm going to Israel next year. It's in the plan. We're planning it now. I know I'm going next year Holy Land Israel travel. I want to film a documentary streaming TV series on my book is atheism dead. And the middle part of the book, first part of the book of science, second part of the book is archeology. I am so excited to go back to Israel to see some of these sites. So go to Holy Land at Israel travel. Also want to say that we are doing a fundraising with fundraiser with food for the poor. There are hungry kids in Central America, the Caribbean, we have to do what we can to help them. And on this program, once a year, we do a fundraiser with food for the poor. This is the time. Everybody needs to give something. So in a few minutes, I will tell you more about that. I forgot to say in our opening before John's mirac, I keep getting emails from friends. Eric, your Instagram was hacked. If you have a certain amount of Instagram followers, people will, you know, criminals will fake being you, they'll put a fake Instagram account, and then they'll contact your Friends and say, hey man, how you doing? Hey, hey, could you help me out with something? And they're trying to get money. I never contact anyone via Instagram. If I ever contact you by Instagram or Twitter, that's not me. But I want to warn people, I also want to say, why don't you follow me on Instagram or Twitter or truth social or wherever you want to follow me. But understand that anybody with a certain number of followers. Once you get to certain level, the criminals come in, they impersonate you and they try to talk to your friends. If I'm talking to you there, it's not me. I want to be real clear about that. Okay, I've just got to tell you, we have known me park coming up talk to these in the city. If ever one is actually going to sell out sell out, not just be crowded. This is it. I travel all around the country. I go into airports. There's her book with her face on it. She's a very big deal right now. So this is going to be a big deal event tickets are the same price as our normal events, but it could sell out. And so I want to just warn people go to Socrates and city dot com, sign up. If you want to come to the dinner, this is going to be an amazing dinner. The dinners I got to say are really extraordinary. If you're able to afford it, that's where you get to ask the speaker questions. And there's a whole other conversation that goes on. It's more intimate and the one we had with Genie Constantino the other day. I keep thinking like, I wish we could film these dinner conversations because they are that extraordinary. They're really something. So anyway, that's in the city dot com. You only park. She's a defector from North Korea. You want to talk about somebody with a story? You want to talk about what somebody who understands what oppression state authorized oppression is, you'll meet park, march 30th, Socrates in the city that is happening..

Adam Coleman Talks Voting Republican for the Very First Time
"Your other substack articles Adam Coleman is about voting for Republican for the very first time. Obviously in the midterm elections, it's interesting there wasn't a red wave or tsunami like many people predicted, conservative people like me were hoping for, but it did get some people to come over for the first time or in your case you didn't vote for Joe Biden. Maybe it was in the, in the 2020 presidential election. But explain to me how you went from voting Democrats your whole life to now, at least not automatically voting Democrat that you will consider and have voted for Republicans. Yeah, so I would say the major issues that sort of coming up over the past couple of years that have stuck out is the protection of children. Whether it's at schools or whether it's within our society, I think it's extremely important that we protect our children. And I'm seeing one particular party in my own party, basically choosing otherwise. So that was a big motivating factor for me.

The American Left Doesn't Have the Right to Celebrate MLK Day
"The American left has killed the dream that Martin Luther King Jr. had. And announced, and promoted, and shared with the rest of the country, maybe the rest of the world. They've killed it. And they've done so intentionally, which is why today, on Martin Luther King day, 2023, I am calling on every American leftist. Every American progressive. Every American liberal. To not celebrate MLK day because you don't celebrate MLK, the man. And his dream. You have intentionally killed that which he strived so hard to build.

No, we haven't. And do you want to know why? Because the American left refuses to allow it. Because the American left absolutely does not dream the same dream. That doctor king dreamed. The American left has no interest whatsoever in color blindness. As a matter of fact, the American left will tell you directly. Colorblindness is racism. They will tell you that doctor king was wrong. Let me tell you that doctor Martin Luther King was striving for the wrong thing because color blindness is racist. This is what we're told. "Very few people know a great deal about the legacy, the life, the work, the history of the great civil rights icon, doctor Martin Luther King Jr., most people know him only from his great speech, the I have a dream speech. They may know him from marches, they may know him from some other. You should know him for his pledge of nonviolence, which he asked his marchers and his supporters in his protesters who are screaming for civil rights that he asked them to take was extraordinary. It was very important. I actually reread those today at the urging of one of my callers on my home station here in Cleveland, which is W H K radio, a.m. 14, 20 the answer. You can hear my daily show from 9 to noon. Here, Eastern Time, but he should be known as well as much for that. And of course, all of his life's work of trying to advance the cause of civil rights trying to advance the cause quality not equity, trying to advance the cause of, well, colorblindness. Am I right? Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream. Today? As he said, so forcefully, his dream was to one day see his children living in a nation in which they would be judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character, the literal dream that people talk about. From doctor Martin Luther King Jr., and it's one of the primary reasons that in his tragic assassination that we have a national holiday dedicated to civil rights and to him as a civil rights icon and leader.

Start to make sense to us. This all starting to make sense a little bit more ego hell okay. So i'm i'm a process guy because i love driving efficiency and systems and all that kind of stuff i love to analyze and all that kind of like to come up with the plan but i love leading people. Is that true or false. I've ever ever thought of myself as being people oriented so you don't enjoy leading you don't enjoy leading. Well i mean in my last sweating years. I had opportunities for management And i just. I never wanted to the headache of that. Well then we've got a very interesting because the way your answers came out. It said that you enjoy leading the work of leading influencing others. So i don't. It's not a perfect assessment. No assessment is so you got me on a technicality. There but but but the reality is is that your answers drove at that result. So either you want to. But you're afraid to or something's off. I don't want to spend time on that as much as i want to say that. Do you agree that the planning and the analyzing his work that you enjoy. Oh absolutely so. Why did you tell me that you enjoy leading early when i asked you about. All three said yes now. You're telling me no. I guess because i trusted the assessment. Yeah because i. I just wonder if you're afraid of leading are you. It might be possible. Might be possible I used to be a I used to be a worship leader for a living. Okay so you have okay. So there's more to this story you have led before your enjoy leading on some level so the question is where so. Here's the deal. Go look at the job. Business owner and then admin type process detail organizational work in a very healthy environment. I think you have to consider if you enjoyed it before you'll enjoy it again. And i think you've got to ask yourself what made that particular job three jobs ago so enjoyable. Yeah a lot of it was the environment okay. Then that's good because see if it's not the work itself then we going across that off the list. See we got. I teach that you gotta love the work right. Yeah i get it. I don't think so. Yeah that's okay. It sounds like a lot of sounds like a lot of success. I to hear more significance in there. Hi i've been a social worker for about five years and i'm thinking of changing my career. Okay what are you thinking about changing it to. I am on chore. I am. I just want to do something. I'm not sure if they wanna do that or around in that area or just completely go to something else. Okay so when you say it. That way i just gotta believe there are some ideas it have been kind of percolate in the old head their true or false all denisa. We gotta have some fun with these ideas because what we wanna do. Want to get the ideas out of her head and talk to somebody. And i'm your guy. I'm your coach. And let's see match up to who you are do they. Here's here's as you're telling me you need this in your head. Do they allow you to use what you do best to do work. You love to produce results matter deeply to you. That simple that's purpose. And so if they aligned with that then we then we get to choose. Which one do we want to choose the most which one engages the heart the most. That's where we're ending up so give me these ideas that you've got seen came of My own business. I'm not quite sure what that would be dry right now. i know like health Got much. "Anthony is gonna join us now here on the line in pittsburgh. Pennsylvania the home of the steelers. Oh it's almost football joe. I'm getting a little excited anthony. You're on the. Ken coleman show. Hey can yeah. It's about time around these parts. I try to pack it in Short for you but I i'm kind of finding my direction. On the rebound I'm working part time right now and I've kind of something one of the mistakes i've had in the past i've jumped jobs a little bit Trying to find that direction Now dream wise. I'm still not sure something i liked you. In his delivery driving I've done various types now and I just like like forgivable they put it this way. I am not an office guy. But i'm like a heavy trades type guy either so i think that's kind of in between for me. That's why i'm drawn to that. It's like bogle if that makes sense and like the neighboring state. As much as i like where. I'm at now like where i live. My lease is up in about six month already renewed at once. And i just want to go to the neighboring state for somewhere different and i have apply jobs there. The my question is in that six months like the time before my lease and you think it's wise to try to find something. I'd like to get the benefits and that you think. It'd be worth commuting somewhere fulltime if i got a job or just kinda getting in with a company in the in the neighbouring state where i can do part time and then switched to a full-time kind of like when i found like an apartment there Feels like to me. that's all i think. Well see this is personal preference. I appreciate your trust and asking me. But i think this is more personal preference versus what i would consider like fundamental. This is the best thing to do so having said that me personally i would lock in the job. I and and then once. I knew that i had the job. Then i would. I would make living arrangements. I would you know. I'm not the kinda guy moves to a place and gets living arrangements and then tries to find a job or vice versa. Like i'm a guy that goes. What's the opportunity to me. It's always the opportunity drives the action. And so if i'm looking to make a switch and you're kinda clawing back i'm going. What's the professional direction. And then what's the best move. What's the next step like if we if we pick a ladder like ladder for the metaphor certainly mountain either one works and if i go i know this is where i wanna go in my career in my life. So now. what's the next move. What's the next rung on the ladder. So i'm gonna go get that and i go do that wherever it is. This is how. I've always been my mom and dad. I'll tell you once. I left for college. I never came back home and so for me. it's always going to be. I'm going to go do the next thing whether that's in the next state over or five states over and i'm going to go do that because it's the right move until i accept that then i choose living arrangements. That's the way. I'm wired source so you think it's worth like even if it was full time commuting there as long as it was a solid opportunity and then like that what you have it and then he can go to cure. If the commute doesn't take all the joy out of it sometimes commutes exhausting. Not worth it for much longer than it's absolutely necessary. So i guess i would not do it any longer than absolutely necessary makes sense what i'm saying. Yeah absolutely but again. That's personal preference like i'm a guy that doesn't want to drive multiple hours every day for a long time. I'm just not going to do that. Unless i absolutely had to. But if you have to. I got a good friend. Who's doing it right now. Driving lanta every sunday night and drives back to nashville of every thursday evening. It's tough. He's got three kids. Four kids actually now while i wouldn't do that but they feel like that's what they're doing right now so i'm limited in what to tell you what to do. I would think through. What do you think is best for you. And then i would do that ad. I got thirty five thirty five seconds. You gotta make a quick. So i can respond okay. I'm still looking to join a local church. Do you think that would even come with it. 'cause i know it's around fellow believers especially pretty would choose the place. I'm supposed to be. And then i find a church around that so i would not choose a church. I i choose the opportunity then. I find church the same time. I'm finding community where i'm living always take the opportunity. Everything you need is always surrounded. I promise this is the ken. Coleman show helping you go from paycheck to purpose. This is the ken coleman show. Don't forget the.

He just sent me the article in may he predicted while the taliban would to build help on millions of listeners who now have to prepare for the twentieth anniversary of september. Sure and the islamic state is an al-qaeda of course So al qaeda and the taliban host jihadist groups are in one camp these state is the bastard child of al qaeda they share the same ideology to restore the the calvet and impose islamic state. They just have different ways of doing it. The islamic speech way is basically my way or the highway they wanna declare the california now and go for it. Al qaeda's way is look. We build our emirates. Do this arab. Believe you don't declare until we protect it we build our state is like the The leninist versus. Trotskyite i i. It's the perfect analogy so That's what we have. The islamic state in afghanistan is There is an opposition time because it's opposes. The caliban primarily be a job her however there are reports and some of this comes from the united nations. And i'm not going to be very clear not saying this attacker. Those attack happened recently in kabul. Were related to this. However i suspect they were united. Small territory The reports that at work which is a part of the powerful group within the taliban uses islamic state sometimes to carry out attacks. Use them as a cut out for hang on this. Let's go to ryan now in south bend indiana ryan. You're on the ken. Coleman show cannot go ryan. I'm living the dream what's going on. Hey so here's my situation. I work factory right now just to pay off debt. The reason why is factory. After i was gonna pay off the debt which would take about nine months right now. After the day. I was going to and go to an entry level job in industry that i want to be in good. What industry took finance great. So my question is knowing that because of the hiring market right now and you said it was use. It should last now another six months or so. Should i try for that entry level job now in the industry the finance industry or should i stay in the factor with a high paying job to pay off the debt. Well let's just say this if you can get in the finance industry in that entry level job which gets you on the ladder. You wanna beyond. And you're making as much as you are now or more no-brainer but if you can't get in or let's let's put it this way. If an entry level position in the finance industry pays less than this factory job right now that i would wait and stay where you're playing nine months. It's going to be here before you know it. And for that matter. Get your mercy. Fund fully-funded three to six months. So i don't think there's a lou. I don't think there's a losing proposition if you stay for nine more months and get out of debt. And maybe even get that emergency fund funded before you take an entry level position. That's a good decision but Yeah i'd prefer you look what you know. There's nothing to lose if you find something in finance that pays the same or more. Yeah jump makes sense. Yeah so then yet. Not convinced. I just feel very underqualified to to get a job that makes as much as the factory job right but wait a second. Is that a fact. Or is that something you feel I guess it might be something. I feel you might by the way. Let me just say this. Your feelings might be right but let's go get some facts. Let's go find out. What an entry level position or two or three or four or five in the finance field looks like and find out what the qualifications are. Are you qualified if you are in his truly entry level which basically like. We'll train you on the job and it meets the requirements that i pointed out. Pays you the same or more do it. If you find out well this position this position position these all injured level and something. I'm interested in it. Gets me on the right ladder. But it's going to require some certifications or some online courses or associates degree or whatever. Then you go get that and you got a good paying manufacturing job factory job where again. You're getting out of debt. You're saving money so either way. You're in great shape. So don't say well i don't know well then. Why don't you know you need to go find some facts. So find out what it's gonna take. It's that simple and if it's going to take some Additional training and again don't assume it's a college degree but it requires some additional training. Do your research on that. How much is that going to cost. And in based on the fact that for nine more months. i'm throwing everything at my debt. How long is it going to take after that nine months to get qualified. There's your plan yes you sure I guess the thing that's just stuck in my mind is. I don't know if this changes the equation that you just laid out for me but This factor drive right now. I just i really dislike it and hated every day. Kinda hit it. I get it but until you can replace that income. Buckle up buttercup yeah i mean i'm with here i listen and it's not forever. Okay suffer eversholt. it's for right now. Go find something better. That autumn motivate you to do your homework. You called me without any answers. All got her questions. You need to go do your homework go. Go find out facts over feelings. Let's go get some facts and our feelings will adjust themselves your sharp young man. You got a great future. The best is yet to come. Coleman show can jesse. I'm living the dream. What are you doing to we go. What's a So i wanted to talk to you. Pretty much asked for guidance Obviously got promoted I also have read your book. So i think i'm in proximity to them in the direction where i went ahead. Good i mean. I i do In the past. I've done a lot of procurement Positions and when i got hired this company i went into to do manufacturing. I went into the production department As there was no procurement or any supply chain stuff up positions of at the time. And i just i just get my my foot inside the door. i've been here two years. I got an offer of going into supervisory level here grab expressed. I have expressed by passion that i liked you want. They going to supply chain becomes some sort of a supply chain manager Maybe pursue A bachelor degree or something. They are aware of it. the gave tell me that it could be a possibility Now i'm in disposition like the other color right like bright position players right position say I'm going to pick up here What's the disposition comes one meetings and it said something very very Supposed to report every month to my superior and have a one on one meeting. And i'm really confused and have no direction of what these one on one meetings are going to be about a what i supposed to bring on these one on one meeting. Okay seles paul okay. Great all right. let's pause. I don't think you're in a pickle. I know it feels like you're in a pickle but you're not in a pickle. I think you're worrying about something you don't need to worry about but but let me make sure that i'm right about this backing this thing up. This is the job that you want yes or no. Yes yeah. Forget your anxiety right now. That's your brain. Turn your brain offer second. Let your heart talk. This is a supervisor role. And it's something you wanna do. You're excited about that part of it. Yes or no. Yes i am but you've n- i guess you've not been in many of these roles. Were you had to do one on one meetings on a regular basis with your leader and all of a sudden. You're feeling this massive pressure that you're going to have to bring a trapper keeper notebook full of stuff and i think you're freaking out about right. You are totally right i. I'm so not going nowhere to wait a second. I i know. I know i know but hold on a second. Have they said to you at any point. We're expecting a trapper keeper of all kinds of things and you must also figure out what we're looking for is a giant mystery. Hope you make jesse if not we're gonna fire your but has that happened heighten. So here's the deal. They haven't have. They offered the position to you or not. Yes have you accepted or not. Yes already did. Accept it in all right first month and you're for so you're already a month in one month in. Oh i don't know how i missed that. Did you tell me that Probably missed it. Okay all right so you're a month sometimes. I miss these details. Because i'm thinking while i'm listening here You're a month then if you had your first one my first one a month It's gonna be next week. Oh that's what's going on. This is the first one in your freaking out. Yes why has there been any conversation where the leader said to you. Be prepared for this this and this. There's only been compensations of What what corny going on her department Okay then system whereby a bottle happened in the department all right so stop worrying about it. He hasn't or she hasn't told you that you have to have this notebook full of stuff so then so that would imply that you don't and it's probably just a good quality communication check in so the only thing you need to be prepared for is given them a temperature check of what's going on in your team. Do you know what's going on with your team right now. Jesse yes. I let me give you some homework. That i think will help. Ease your pain. You got something right okay. Here's what i want you to be prepared to answer. You don't have to present this but if you want to it'll make you look really impressive to but more importantly jesse i think this will lower your anxiety level. You need to know for yourself. The answer to these four questions ready. What is right about my team and our goals. what's right..

If i coming across as pretty much you it's like honestly not grind the wrong word. It's like i basically have to have a life one hundred percent dedicated to science and that means like basically no real like Emily life. I'm phil in the sense of like where i spend quality time keeping my advisers. Like yeah you know. You'll see your kids somehow like the passionate by it you know or even with other researchers how many people how many how many people have told you this. That are actually in the field being a chemistry professor. Have told you that you're gonna have very little time for anything besides being a professor. Yeah so right now. My adviser and committee committee members. That's been like five and then just five people from that. But then i also read different like Do research articles or surveys where they will serve a young professors on every decade. And usually it's just kind of like you basically are sacrificing. What will you get tenure. Why is it doing a ton of research that benefits university in that area and you got to kind do that to then get where you wanna go. Yes exactly so. What's the journey political. so how. how long is that intense. Give my brain to my university in order to get the tenure which then now gives me balance. Am i getting that right right. Yeah how long. That's the thing. How long does that. You're gonna be anywhere between ten ten fifteen a more year. Well the dancers absolutely. No the answer is no. Because that's why you called me your head's going heads going Were confused we've wanted to do this. We were sixteen and now we went and got information in the hearts going. No no no no no no no no we want to do this in the brain school. Where is that right. Yes and i think the thing that's also kind of i guess driving me nuts. I don't know if this helps it all like i'm also Comeback in india. Graham eight so like i want. I feel like i've been in control. Felt like so sure. Personality has nothing to do. No personality has nothing to do with this. I appreciate the neograft stuff but when people start to try to put personality into career decisions it makes me really really really really nervous. 'cause you can over think it personality is personality all right does nothing to do with your profession all right now. Here's the deal. You love research and you love mentoring. Young people and you'll love science. Let's draw back to that. I don't think that being a university professor. A chemistry professor on the higher education level is for you. And i think you know that. So i'm setting you free your hearts right but what we do for you as you love science chemistry specifically you love research and you love mentoring young people all you have to do is step back and go wait a second. That doesn't limit me. It opens up a lot of opportunities. Maybe your high school science teacher. I don't know. Maybe you're a fulltime researcher. Who then mentors young women on the side in her personal life because she actually has a life. That's what you've got to consider. Don't over think this those who your three headings look for clues helping you get unstuck and then get on purpose in your life and in your work. This is the ken. Coleman show eight four four seven four seven two five seven. Seven is the phone number to jump into toll free number.
