"To bed and never asleep at all. It's been frustrating but I always look forward to listening to your watching your program. Well thank you ron. You hang in there my friend. What my question. I wanted to ask you How do you feel about the direction of uk football ron. Interestingly i feel great about it and i was a little quick to jump to conclusions last year when when kentucky had some pretty Nasty losses. What i would i didn't realize at the time what what was going on inside and and we all know the courageous fight That coach on lost. And and and it just. I didn't understand until later how that had affected the team and obviously the line that he coached. And i think ultimately you coach stoops was able to navigate this club to the end of the season and i think they had good recruiting class or not. I really feel good about the future. I certainly do anybody. That's all in kentucky has to be excited about the future particularly when you compare it to the past. Yeah no i. I really I think you were going to get some some outliers. During during the covid year and i think kentucky fell victim to it a little bit for some of the reasons i've said and some others. They had that huge win at tennessee and then they just couldn't They couldn't back it up They lost a couple of really unexplainable games. But ron please stay in touch. And i always love hearing from you. It's always good to hear your head and talked to quite a while. thank you. i'll be thinking of you and hoping that you can continue to make a little progress. Hey thank you for the call. Ranjana caller for a long time. He's battling a very serious illness up in kentucky and we hope and pray for the best. "Guests as well as we bounce. Our way around everywhere on a friday after thanksgiving black friday here. We're having a blast listening to the paul finebaum show podcast and we welcome all of you back here. Friday afternoon day after thanksgiving james is up next in tennessee villa. James james you there may try go right ahead james okay i just. I didn't hear you. That's good to be on the air with your paul. Don't get to watch the show that much because of work but Every year during football season that try to call in a couple times and and just discussed the word the tennessee. Football program is every year. And it just you know. Every time we go into europe with a little bit of positive you know your. You're now approach on a five game losing streak and just you just wonder where where programs that now. What's who's to blame. I mean we got more town. This chain just granted on the defensive side. There's a lot of young talent. Software being played but that offensive line is under performed. The bright spot is fantastic. We knew we had with guarantee doing this season. I don't know what the freshman is not being played sooner. I just like to hear a little input from you on it. I know coast boomers not gonna pull the trigger on pruitt. I know he's probably going to get a bollocking for kobe this year. I but i'm just very disappointed. In the quarterbacks coach and chris winky feel like he was a coach that was on the rise. We just haven't seen any consistency out of out of garin. Tano in the other two quarterbacks besides the freshman haven't done anything. I'd just like to hear a little. Hang up there in a minute and just hear what you've got to say about it and you still seem to be recruiting pretty well for next year. It's just what you can't be kentucky and you lose the arkansas and he just simply can't put it together and then in the third fourth quarter. Just something's wrong up there. And i just like to hear from the coaching standpoint. What you think it is. And i'll get off here and now you get thanksgiving and we'll talk. You saint paul. Thanks so much. Yeah thank you james. I think a lot of things this year. I think just got away from them. And what's remaining for. Tennessee is critical. They have opportunities. They place florida next week. I've always felt that was the biggest game of the year for them. Because that's a at home. Maybe this i thought this before the season a chance to Maybe steal one about that now and then texas and dander belt. It's a brutal finish and theoretically they could lose seven straight. They lost vanderbilt. That would be eight. No i don't think phillip fulmer would pull the trigger that to me is the longest of long shots but this great recruiting your could be affected if jeremy pruitt doesn't somehow change the dynamics Let me see if we have time for one more caller we really don't let me make sure update everybody on the news of the day. The sec office this afternoon announcing next week the schedule is set. And it's different than what was originally put on your card You're getting alabama traveling to lsu. The prime time game. That is the game that was missed a couple of weeks ago and because alabama will be playing on december nineteenth that had to go over the next two weeks also ryan day. The head coach at ohio state has tested positive for over. That means the head coaches of the number one and two team or positive so next week schedule alabama. Lsu auburn florida. At tennessee van de georgia arkansas missouri. Now and south carolina at kentucky. We're out of time. We still have two hours to go. Chris doering will join us in an hour. Joe scarborough alabama grad..

"No need to watch the clock because you know his dang at thirty two finger. Push us. Bruce lee showing no mercy got the crew on deck g. No one knows goes deeper. That's the espn download. Now and nick. It just seems like an injustice. Because i realized you know the schedules are short when you have to play thursday saturday to thursday and it but you know the nfl does it all the time. They play sunday to thursday. And it just seemed like somebody miss an opportunity because that game you always get a big number and opposite the the iron bowl and a couple of other games. It just doesn't seem fair. No and it's extremely unfortunate just given the personalities you have in this game and the offense is you have in this game it would have been a really fun game to highlight in primetime where everybody this might be the first time. A lot of national people would get to see mike. Leach's offense at state or lane. Kiffin offense at ole miss and obviously the way these games have gone. The last couple of years people might be missing out on some hijinks too. So yeah it's a bummer. That we're only watching this saturday. But it's going to happen tyler. Which numbers not numbers win lawsuit numbers of scholarship players able to play there were reports last week. state was significantly below the fifty. Three that Is is the is the line of demarcation although you can still play depending on on player units but where where is mississippi state right now and and discuss their decision to keep playing through and obviously shorten stick mentioned numbers between win loss records and obviously with covert roster numbers in injuries. Opt outs and transfer is. I don't think. Mississippi state wants to talk about any of those numbers because both aren't good from the record everything that we mentioned. The people i've talked to this week have said that they're in a similar position as they were against georgia. And like you said. That's not a really good one. They could have Elected not to play that game but they went ahead and went through with it. And you have to remember the week before that. They had their game against auburn postponed. Because mississippi state was below the threshold. Bentiu mike leach senate after the game against georgia and they played a really good game he said. I think the guys were just excited. We had what we thought we needed. Jaded and wally the freshman wide receiver for mississippi state said we brought all we needed here to try to win a ball game in. That's what we did. And i expect the same kind of thing going into ole miss. The numbers don't look great. It's it's not a full roster. They are not at full strength. But i think that just played their best football game of the season and they're going to try to replicate that oxford this weekend. You in tyler. A nikko i tyler i. I wonder if state had said this week. We just can't do it would would the backlash Have been worse than than even losing regardless of by how many i think it would have been really bad because they did choose to go and play at georgia with fifty three scholarship players available. So you can't go and play at georgia and go on a road trip against top fifteen team in the country arguably a top ten team in the country and play and then turn around the next week or supposed to play. You're bitter rival like you said a game. That's usually on thanksgiving game that a lot of nationalize are on even if the teams aren't figuring into the national landscape. You can't play at georgia and say okay. We're not gonna play. I don't miss. The backlash would have been bad. But i mean here. We are less than twenty four hours out from kickoff and mississippi state scheduled play regardless. So i think that says everything you need to know and the impressive thing we do. Go ahead finish your statement. Please the impressive thing is the gave a failsafe to mississippi state for this week. If you look at the rearranged schedules that they just announced a couple of hours ago. Both ole miss mississippi state are off next week. Now so this game theoretically could have been pushed back and you do have to give credit to mike leach. And john cohen in those guys for wanting to play at this week because the way the fell out. Yeah these teams theoretically could've played on december fifth. Nigga apologized for me having attention deficit syndrome. But i keep seeing those records behind. You'll have to know what they are. We have their rahman simon by paul. Simon we have behind me is by the strokes and then right over here. Would-be tim by the replacements. Anti-riot your your boat is a little more normal than than your colleague. Get to the clarion ledger. Yeah my my apartment. If you could scan the walls here it looks like i'm still a college kid. Got some Sports memorabilia on the walls. So i don't have anything near as fancy as a couple records like that. I know that when we do this. This is a danny brahms's behind the scenes and he loves the it'd be able to get into a reporters places whether you know the ceilings are clean or whether you got there goes rhyme and simon from from the seventies. It really doesn't matter but let's get to the game. i cleaned. I cleaned ceiling fan from last time. All that was the thing last time. Yeah tower for that in. Everyone can't what's behind me but the point being a this game had such an such an effect causing effect last year. Matt luke lost his job after the one of the most bizarre endings in the egbo then moorhead loses his job. So so tyler. Nobody's gonna lose their job after the game tomorrow. But starting with mike leach it's been a rocky year. What's at stake for him. In terms of his first egg ball well the fascinating thing to me and i reached her quite a bit and talk to some guys from washington state. Mike leach coached in some guys that he knew there as well. You have to look at that apple cup record and look at the one in seven. Marc that he had their he only won his first ever try in the apple cup against washington and in the senate losses that he did have in going one in seven mississippi washington state. Excuse me didn't even reach twenty points in any of those losses. So this is the era offense and some of those guys. I talked to said when a team is keen on stopping everything that the air raid does. And we've seen in the sec with with some teams this year from arkansas to even vanderbilt kind of had success slowing mississippi. State's offense down if ole miss has gained planned to Slowdown that air raid offense..

"We continue the second hour of the program is live and underway and we have been back to back back. Yes that does not changed now. Because we're delighted to welcome cole. Cubelic to the program Part of the coverage. Tomorrow between ole miss mississippi state the egbo better known. We're so used to seeing it on thursday night. it was. It was just weird waiting for it to start last night realizing we have to wait till saturday. How are you come on the game. And i was sitting around last night looking for the egbo coming on here. I think we might have had the highest rated game of Dueling four college football teams in history last night. Just because there's nothing else on for us college football fans to go find yeah. I couldn't even find that game. So jerry shows you. I wasn't looking very hard. We'll we'll we'll we'll call. Let's talk about this game because We all know how bitter it is and we all know that last year both coaches ultimately lost their job. Only one because of the game the other because of circumstances but described this game and what it could mean for both programs who are desperately in need of a win. I think paul when your season sort of does not exceed expectations. And maybe you're lagging behind. What fans hoped you would be or thought you could be these rivalry games become even that much more important. Because that's what you're gonna turn to for the next seven eight months to look back on and say well pat. What made our season successful two new coaches. Obviously they want to get their tenure off to the right foot by knocking off their opponent lane. Kiffin told us today. Listen it helps in recruiting. It's big for recruiting especially in the state of mississippi where a lot of kids grow up either. A fan of ole miss or mississippi state. You might want to take it from the other team. So it's big in that capacity. But i do think the friendship between these two head coaches has a chance to call this day down just a little bit. You mentioned it paul. This game has been flat out ugly a couple of times last five or six years. I don't know any other way to describe it the way that some of these teams have hit have knocked each other around after the whistle some of the penalties and then obviously the extracurricular activities that have taken place. I think it has a chance to be a competitive game. An exciting game a fun game. It's a three o'clock start. I'm not really planning on leaving hemingway stadium until about eight fifteen eight thirty tomorrow night. Because i think we're going to have some fireworks but i think it's one that a lot of people are going to be entertained. And how they blast watching it. And i am interested in your view of mississippi state. We had lane on the other day and certainly His season speaks for itself but but state has been far more difficult to understand the ups and downs from the beginning to where we are now. And last week reports were they had under the limit the fifty-three they may have had significantly under that limit in terms of scholarship athletes and will likely still have that tomorrow so in essence. They could have cashed in the season but they have not. They're playing on. They are taken some young players to be able to find their role find their way at wide receiver at running back at quarterback all key positions. Especially when you're running the air raid. I think this was a different style. Coaching takeover i. I went through one. When tehran was fired at tommy came in everything needed to be rebuilt. It was run guys off. Let's get our guys in here. This is your everybody's terrible we. We gotta make you tough. The whole nine i think gifts takeover and ole miss was one where they. We're pretty close to talents there. We just. we need to jackson excitement. As you know as everybody knows that pays attention to football in this league and just college football mike leach you say very different personality you bring in another west coast coordinator in zakhar net on the defensive side of the football. It just took time for everyone to get on the same page. It was difficult to do that over. Zoom beings all. They weren't able to be in the same meeting where they weren't on the practice field together. The personalities didn't have a lot of time to be able to jail. therefore the expectations weren't able to be met on both sides via player and coach was the seasons progressed. That's begun to work itself out. The offense is beginning to look the way the offense needs to look will risers has a much better feel for what this offense needs to be. He has the patience. He has the wherewithal. You didn't get greedy times in the offensive line has somewhat picked it up here down the stretch and made life a little bit easier. I think that coaching staff is added a few things in the run game that it also helped that offense be able to get off the bad foot. They were after the game. And you're seeing it start to look the way that the air raid is supposed to look defensively. This thing's kind of been this way. The entire season zack. Net does not get enough talk for the job that he's done but this mississippi state defense and he'll be the first one to tell you. Kobe jones marquee spencer errol thompson. Those are leaders that have played a ton of football in this league. He wouldn't take any of the credit for sort of guiding those guys pushing those guys. We met with him earlier this week. Basically saying they've taken this thing from day one. They knew what it was about the aggressive bidding there. The intensity has been there. All i had to do was give him an opportunity to go out and make plays in. My assumption would be that the guys of the defensive side of the football from mississippi state when they saw some of the things that they were going to be able to.

"Friday afternoon and michael is up next in georgia michael. Thank you good afternoon you paul. We're doing great. Thank you for calling Your last two callers talking about kirby smart. I think they just need to go ahead and get a grip his good coach. It could be worse. They could have the coach problems. That some your other. Sec a half and that saving is not going be around forever and you have said or somebody had said earlier dirt awake that nutrition is gonna take in and as long as kirby smart can last. He'll he'll be okay And as far as the georgia fans. I have gone to a couple of games. I'm an auburn grad. I have gone to a couple of games down in georgia and they are the biggest losers sore loser i've ever seen. Every time they lose a game there they go into hiding. They go in the morning. And you think that. Vince dooley as passed away when we went down there before the game even started. We were treated badly and then we had happened to beat them that afternoon and on the way out of town we were treated badly so i just wanna say you know georgia fans get a grip. You've got a good team. You got a good coach. You just have to be patient. We have gus malzahn. You know people want to go ahead and get rid of him. But you know who's out there to take his place now. If you're an auburn grad. Like i am. You know if you're happy going down in three ten and two every year you know gus is for you so i just wanted to go ahead and make that comment and just Express my feelings about it. We were doing the show from from athens georgia university of georgia when we announced the news the mid point of the program. And i've i've said this Said at the time. And i'll say today two years later that it was the saddest show we've ever done it was The outpouring of love and emotion from callers to this program and from people all over the country was was unprecedented. And i'm so glad you brought it up in a bring me up. You know we we all have our own teams we four. We have our own religious and political coverage zoos and and we are all going through a tough time right now. And that's just another reason we watch your show you know. It's an escape but at the end of the day we all in this together and just encourage everyone to keep taming your thoughts. And even though he has his eccentricities and whatever now he don't have any by lino getting show vin who i lean on for the past six months. We'll mitchell it. What you say is really interesting. Because you're right. I've talked to many many people some people that you would recognize but i won't mention their name. Who have told me privately things that you've told me publicly that you know going back to the beginning of the pandemic You know it's not it's not even it's not to show it's the community that were it isn't show that that's that's the base but called don't know if she knew Tammy personally but look how emotional she got because she.

"Weekend on Mondays took care. Thank you very much and Casey is up next in Alabama. Hey Paul how you doing we are doing well, thank you very much. Yeah, Hey I just kind of wanted to piggyback off of what what Todd said earlier. Talking, about Jay the model and you know there have been talked about the the playoff chances get affected with him out. How do you feel about that I don't agree now I understand like everyone his importance in his ability to change the game but. I think for anyone in a couple of my colleagues have done this to write Alabama from winning a national championship. Is, simply. Ludicrous it may may affect them in a game. But but Alabama's fairly deep. Right and then one more question for you with whichever Lawrence out now with Corona do you think that MAG Jones may slide up in the heisman race now or what? It depends I think Mack Jones right now is a legitimate top three heisman candidate. If, he continues his pace I think you'll get. He'll he'll be a finalist. I don't think trevor will be affected if he misses. I don't think one game is going to make any difference. Now, if he misses the Notre Dame game, it could have an impact. If he's out for extended period of time, but but I think trevor is so far. Ahead of everybody right now I say so far he's he is ahead of people. Nick is up next in South Carolina Hello Nick. We're doing great. Thank you. I wanted to talk to you about gamecocks football got the week off. So it onto watch a loose laws but Wonder what you thought about must champing what you think would happen for the rest of the year and his status throughout the year. I think it's going to be week to week in terms of just the vagaries of the SEC I just haven't seen much consistency nick. I don't I. I'm pretty sure I mean I think the challenge is getting to five hundred right now and that may even be wishful thinking worried about you. Yeah..

In Alabama an intriguing combination of program that we all know about one that has been rather confusing and we're talking about Mississippi State Todd Lockwood part of the call tomorrow night in Tuscaloosa. So Todd, thanks for joining us on these Friday afternoon visits. I can't wait to hear what you have to say about digging in the Mississippi state because everyone knows the narrative they look great in the upset over shoe, and since then it has been a struggle. Yeah. Well, it has been I. mean you know offensively you know everybody knows about Mike, Leach's reputation and the air raid offense and that first game it was like picture perfect form because Lsu played almost all man-to-man defense. They tried to pressure the quarterback in that played right into the hands of this offense and they they got a lot of big plays and you know set. All kind of records with K, J, Castillo of playing quarterback, and you know. So since then teams have changed their style of how they're playing them, it's been a lot more zone defenses. Love bit a lot more rush three and drop aid, and and that's given them more problems. They eliminated along those big place to complicate matters. Mississippi state has not done a good job of. Football turned it over lot lot of interceptions and and bad turnovers and. Now the thing that they have done well on the other side of the ball as they played pretty solid defense under first-year coordinators, Zach Arnett and they're flying around and and been very aggressive on that side of the ball. But but offensively, it's been it's been a little different deal the last few weeks because of the people have changed the way they've played against this offense. Todd in trying to understand where they are right now I know they've had a lot of off the field, a defections or I don't know what they are. People are leaving the program is what's your sense of of the cohesion of this team right now as it heads to play. Alabama. Yeah, we we just got off the phone with errol. Thompson. One of their best players on defense had a nice call with him and and we asked him about that and he said you know what? It's been zero distractions for the guys that are here. There's guys that are making decisions. That are kind of business decisions and the best things for their career and we wish them well but in terms of the guys that are here. There's not a buy in problem. There's not a cohesion problem and You know I think he was very straightforward, very honest with us and But on from the outside looking in, you would wonder about that particular when you have a guy like hill who has been such a productive player who's made a decision to at this point now to opt out. It makes you wonder what's going on but You know it sounds like. Certainly I think the bye week was very important for this football team in a lot of ways not just to get some guys healthy and rested. But also to kind of you know get back to square one on some things and. I think that Mike Leach will do a good job here eventually but right now it's pretty tough particularly now when you've got Alabama, as your next opponent. We've already seen it Bama. So you know everyone knows what they look like but I wanna I, WanNa get into that because you know the the conversation all week has not been about how well they play but about losing waddell and there is a quite a quite a very of opinions on his loss take that up yours. Well. First of all, he's a special unique player. I want one of the most dynamic players in all of college football. So you lose a guy like that you're gonNA miss them. You're gonNA miss them in your offense you're GonNa, Miss them in your in your return game. So I think that shade bolden will will step into the slot receiver and do well he did well against Tennessee so I don't think it will. Dramatically. Devastate their pass offense but you're still talking about a guy at some point in the season you're going to really miss his dynamic playmaking ability his ability to take the top off of defense and now all of a sudden that's gone. You still have you know devante Smith is still have Mechi who is really starting to come into his own. So they'll still be productive offensively but but they will miss Jalen watteau not just because of his playmaking ability but from everybody we've talked to within the program his energy has leadership has competitiveness all the things that he brought to the football team you're gonNA miss and you don't replace a guy of that caliber with one other guy so. it'll be interesting to see how that how that goes on. But the this is an offense Paul you know and I it struck me last week as I was starting my preparation and then we drew up some graphics and put some stats together and it's interesting. You know they are doing some of the same things off -fensive Lee from production standpoint that we saw lsu's offense do last year and I'm not necessarily saying that MAG is is the next Joe Borough however he's playing at a level and and moving this offense in a way very similar to what we saw Lsu do last year balance explosive passing game a quarterback playing at a very high efficiency level..

"We welcome you back. It has been quite an eventful two hours. We began exactly two hours ago with Auburn coach Gus Malzahn we talked previewed the LSU game. Went to Holly Rowe in Clemson talking about the Trevor Lawrence. News. We just heard from Roy Kramer, the Legendary SEC Commissioner who turned ninety one today a little bit later on Todd Blackledge on tomorrow's Alabama Mississippi. State game and Chris Fowler. Later in this show from Happy Valley Getting Ready for House Day Right. Now it is Cole cubelic time. He'll be on the call tomorrow for UK in Uga and always great to have you with us, appreciate it and. There are just so many things to chew on. Let's first talk about the game you're going to be doing Georgia first time we've seen them since. Rather unsettling second half Tuscaloosa. Appreciate, you haven't good to be back with you I'm excited to see this Georgia football team a lot of people disappointed with the way that they looked against Alabama. We at least thought that defense is going to have some more success. I thought the defensive line in the edge rushers would be able to be a little bit more problematic and we talked to Dan landing last night he's listened that was part of what we needed in that game but he said communication was the big thing that they have worked on in these two weeks leading into this game against Kentucky, especially on that side of. The football that maybe some guys thought that they could just go out there lineup and get away with being more talented, having more guys around them. That can make plays said, we need to communicate better before the snap after the snap and those are the things are going to lead us to be the best defense in college football. So it's going to be a big test for them on the ground. Obviously, they're gonNA see a new quarterback. The Kentucky uniform makes to see maybe one of the best teams in college football take the field again and maybe what they've altered to potentially make that championship run. You've seen this Kentucky team but but you know they would have to go down as one of the most. Difficult. Teams in the to explain They've had good appearances great appearances against Tennessee and then a few lackluster especially last week. They've been competitive but. They have failed to convert what what's going on with Kentucky other than the aforementioned quarterback change. Kentucky's a t Paul you kind of set it th th there are very difficult to pinpoint. To me when I watched them and I see the way that they've played the games that they've been in and maybe have won the Games, they've won the Games they've lost. They don't have a lot of different ways that they can go out and win a football game, and thankfully, that Defense Undergrad white has actually allowed them in a couple of games to be in better position to go actually go out and win if they're not running the football will if they're not controlling the clock winning field position keeping the other offense off the field. That's not an advantageous game for them. It's not one that they're most likely going to be in late. Now, they got into a little bit of a track meet with Ole miss and they were fortunate because of some turnovers to have a chance to win that game they. But you look at where they were the first half against Auburn, they go up against Tennessee, they can play their style game in the. Second. Half in that matchup when they're playing football, there are really good team. There is physical any team in the SEC really both sides of the ball, even though the front seven will banged up on defense but once they get out of that comfort zone, it's a totally different deal. It's like they're they're they're a guy that I guess drives a sports car and all of a sudden you put them in A. Big Off road vehicle, he doesn't really know how to handle it. You know how to vantage. So once they get out of their comfort zone, they become a very different team very quickly and I think more teams are saying we'll play high risk to potentially slowdown what you're best at and make you beat us other ways I thought he'd I drink which company had a great plan last week they played single Safety they loaded the box. They were very aggressive at the line of scrimmage and it paid off they were able to slow down the Kentucky Rushing Attack Interior Wilson Company could not beat them through the air. So they're gonNa have to find other ways to win to be good. Not Just Win Games. But when plays when a series when drive if they can't this may turn into a long season for coach students. Coca Cola this he's seen Auburn a few times as opposed as well as last weekend and we had Gus Malzahn key. Colin you your you know the importance of this game you played in this game, a number of times. Help us better understand what Auburn has to do tomorrow to to avoid losing to what looks like an ascending Lsu team right now. Very very interesting Lsu team right now, Paul you look at some of the youth on this team and how beginning come around be jail was on the outside had a couple of sacks last week guy that I've been really impressive with is era. Gilbert the tight end yes he can run. He can catch giant wingspan big body. But when you watch him in the run game the last two weeks, he's been really impressive in that part of his game against South Carolina. He looked a lot like thaddeus moss who was a key cognizant and then winning a national championship last season. Used is beginning to gain some experience and gain a little bit of composure and some confidence, and if you're going play a freshman quarterback, what's the one thing that you want? There's an alternate coordinator give me a run game. We gotta be able to run the football. If I'm going to play quarterback that hasn't started a game, really even attempted a pass well Lsu. Got It. Last the offensive line finally came around they look better the backs ran hard. He has some help tight end like I mentioned. And I thought TJ Finley made great decisions wedge of any young quarterback that I wanNA see. That's the first thing that I need to see from you. If you're going to be successful, just good decisions take your check downs get out of the pocket when pressures coming don't get out of the pocket too early slide don't take hits don't do anything unnecessary and I thought Finley handled himself in a very interesting manner last week they're really nice job. So Auburn has simone notes here you've got team players..

"We're less than nine days away from semifinal side when it comes to cows while playoff Alabama, Oklahoma and one game Notre Dame and Clemson and the other game we got bowl games leading up to that. Let's talk about that a little bit more, man. Cole cubelic does a great job as an ESPN college football analysts call we got both of these things leading one leading TV out to the ball games. Now the semifinals in about nine days. If Cole cubelic was in charge of all of this. How will you make both better for the cost football fan? So clarify for me what we're making both of what better exactly whatever you wanna do if it's good now. This is what you would do to make it better. That's what I mean. We're talking like the college football playoff. Sure bowl games. Whatever you want. My friend is your world. The balkans. The bulking stay actually if if my way I would remove the ballgame tie ins to the college football playoff. Tell me why it's necessary to have a team who has earned the right to play for a national championship. A college football playoff semi final or championship game will the championship games on its own. But a college football playoff semi final in still needs to be part of the Rose Bowl or the Orange Bowl or Cotton Bowl or Sugar Bowl. Why? I don't understand. Why though why those players are not enjoying any facet of a game. They are dialed in to a college football playoff semi final game. And attempting to play one more game after that, which will be for a national championship. You think these kids are going to ride roller coasters at DisneyWorld?.

"They'll mean the snap and Gainesville Cole cubelic from the SEC network. Joining the Paul finebaum show on Friday. I don't think I expected them to win five games enroll up to this point in the season. They had the best resume in college football play. Great defense. They have a quarterback that protects the football on how you wouldn't be impressed with what else you've done so far this season. They've had to change some guys up. Around the offense line had a few players injured they've mixed and matched that group yet still found ways to be effective offensively. They're not exciting on offense. They're not dynamic on offense. But they just do enough to find ways to move the change. Protect the defense and allow them to help them win games Florida coming off of a huge win against Mississippi State program. We'll talk about it in a minute. But what's the key to this game tomorrow here in the swamp offensively for Florida can the offensive line get a few things going between the tackles because you really saw that Florida offense under Dan Mullen, sort of make a living out on the perimeter last week. I mean it was turning throw turn throw turning throw for Philippi, France. And then obviously you get a little bit of a trick play results in a touchdown pass. I don't know if they can make a living against this LSU defense because grant writing company from that secondary come up and play aggressive in tackle extremely well. And with the way, the Florida offensive line has played not great football LSU should be able to win against the run game with fewer numbers that gives them an advantage on the back end. So Dan Mullen, and company. Have to find a way to generate a little bit more of a run game be more balanced on offense. We had Florida earlier this year against Charleston southern they got away from the run game in that contest. So they're going to have to be more balanced against a very very good LSU defense who has elite players at every level for LSU. I think it's continued to do what you do try to play physical brand of football offensively. Protect Joe borough. Go six seven eight man protections run the football try to go north and south the way, the Florida defense had success last week Paul was movement. They slandered their defensive linemen day blitz. They moved those guys around the Mississippi State offensive line could not keep up with that movement. If they try that again with some of the gap scheme runs blocking back and pulling around that LSU likes to do that could turn to explosive plays for the Tigers del run Joe borough del protect him with six seven even eight players at times, they're going to try to make his life easy and very similar plan for LSU this game against Florida poll Blake with Paul finebaum on Friday LSU's offense. "One of our top college football analyst Cole cubelic returns here to Freddie and Fitz Simmons and colas begin with the game that you had you saw history Kentucky beat Florida. You're on the call on the SEC network on ESPN in Kentucky, beating Florida. The first time since nineteen eighty six described that moment that atmosphere and how it happened. No. I mean, obviously, not incredible for the Florida Panthers. Being in the swamp. But being over in their Kentucky sonogram when the clock came to an end with a weird way that game ended. How you go review a play where Josh Allen helmet knocks the ball out of Philippi. Frank hand in the pocket. They didn't blow it dead. In a Kentucky defender actually scoops up the ball and running down towards the end zone stops around the wine fans there for five or six seconds. Then gets tackled into the end zone being ruled a touchdown. The play clock is obviously expired game clock expired in Kentucky inns eight thirty one game losing streak to the Florida. Gators Kentucky was more physical football team bottom line. They pushed Florida around the defensive line held strong, which I didn't think was going to happen because especially with questionable Hanako went out early in the game. That was a big question. Mark for Kentucky to season the second and third levels of their defense. We're going to be fine. Speaking that second level. Josh Allen linebacker Kentucky. Wildcats was all over the place pressures in the backfield. He was covering wide. Receivers tight ends or running back out the flat downfield. He had a wonderful tip ball in the corner of the endzone two point conversion play. Forces go out of bounds. Was an absolute animal, and then I'll pensively Drake Jackson the middle of that Kentucky, office wine sort of impose their will. He of the two guards. If you haven't seen punchy stallings coal around on a third of one to forty two left in the fourth quarter of that game. It might be your favorite block all football this year at any level. Absolutely de cleats upload with DDT body slams afforded defender onto the top his numbers like his name plays. The first thing is for ground and that opens up the lane for a first down run a little bit more clock. It'd be cell was wonderful. Terry Wilson was wonderful. Lynn Boden provided Kentucky with a deep threat and explosive threat down the field. But Terry Wilson at quarterback is has legit wheels. I mean track speed, and he showed you a few times in this game. Why he is the guy in that Kentucky office is eight dynamic runner in two hundred early in this game overcame a fumble. Earlier this game it had a better fourth quarter than fully Franks did. Benny smell. All he does is just pressed the line of scrimmage, find a way to get his shoulder square in place leading forward. So Kentucky was better football team building. More physical football team. They deserve to win you out Russia team three zero three two one twenty eight on the road. Not those you're going to lose the call. I think a lot of people obviously it wasn't a win. But most people think Texas am held its own against a great Clemson team. What did you learn about JIMBO Fisher and his squad in that game? First and foremost, I was impressed with the offensive line. And and I'm not gonna sit here and try to convince anybody that the offensive line, the Clemson defensive lines rear ends or pushed them around or bully dam or anything like that. But if you put the tape on most guys making tackles as the linebackers, and they're sort of the unaccounted for defenders in a lot of the game. Now. Line credit for taking on supply and keeping them for climate the second level being able to make some of those blocks, but you didn't see that front for the Clemson defense in the factual dominating football game. I thought they held their own better than I gave them a chance to thought they did a better job than most of us thought they could do against that group. You still saw Christie Wilkens getting the bachelor and disrupt every now and then Cleveland fail got back there and basically at it's a pressure. So they got dares, but I think a lot of us thought maybe offensive line. They're not physical enough yet. They're not ready yet. And this is going to have to be a game that if eight ten have to be going out on the perimeter offensively and utilize bones legs. But they were actually able to do some things between the tackles that I was impressive with and similar to Terry Wilson showing us while he was the guy. Now, everybody knows this is why he guy detector saying offense, and it wasn't just with big art of it. I think we talked last week. He was going to be a guy that they had to have because of that defensive line, but moving in the pocket and been distributing the football very accurate in the past game felt like he got an in the right place. Most of the time and defensively. I thought an frog did a pretty good job. Just sort of finding ways to cause problems when they eat it to how about battling back late net game you're down to scores early. Great cancer, Clemson to sort of put their foot on the throat really shut them down in not even allow it to be a game. Jimbo's crew. Back at battled back. They showed some grit determination. I think there's a lot. You don't want to lose any game. I don't believe in a good loss. It's not a real feet. You lost the football game. But I do think that there are a lot of building blocks a lot of things they can take from that game and Bill towards the rest of the season. Make them positives for what's left on the schedule. Texas. I am fans chanting JIMBO JIMBO in a loss. As the aggies left the field and that close game against the number two team in the country. And the Clemson Tigers Cole cubelic college football analyst here with us in the shelter. You'll. Get their shot at. In two weeks. So. Good point. Guess what? It comes the SEC. West Aggie land. And Kyle field. But my Rebecca Simmons here on ESPN radio a game at took place out in the west coast. And I know you watch everything especially when it comes to running backs and and and offensive line plan. You have an affection for the Stanford cardinal. But on the other side of the ball that they stood out where that was a big question Mark defensively. The Harrison of the world are gone. Would you make up number ten Stanford holding seventeenth ranked USC totally three points in the seventeen three went out out out west in a battle to top twenty teams? I think right now, we're a lot of us are a lot of the national media. Are we're a little enamored with the helmet were a little angry with the logo that is southern California. In may be because we see what Jalen hurts did. And then we see what did. And now we see Trevor Lawrence is doing it. Clemson. And we feed a lot of these freshmen quarterback sort of had the success that we just expect. Oh, everything's gonna be. Okay. It's gonna go. Well, this is still. True freshman quarterback. Let's play NJIT Daniels in Heathrow's two picks. And he turns it over and you can't really get the run game going. But I'll tell you what I like about Stanford this year and talking to their head football coach before the season is they have become a little bit more balanced now Bryce love nice bounce back game, obviously wasn't graded week one. But that really opened up Jake costal he goes over three hundred yards passing and week one. And then you see a balanced out week two against USC. I like the fact that this is not a team that's going to have to turn in hand the football footballer price, thirty eight forty two forty four times a game in order to be able to find success there other weapons there other way, they're gonna find to be able to move the football. This is still a big mental hurdle. This is still a big emotional obstacle for you for for Stanford to be able to get southern account. So I think it's a huge win for them. It says a lot for where their program is says a lot for where they're going as far as potentially winning the Pac twelve as well. So. A game that was a little bit later. So not many people talking about it. But a gigantic win for Stanford. I will say that. I think a lot of people are way ahead of the curve on Southern Cal this year the offensive line play hadn't been good. The last few years. You lose the kind of weapons that they had not only last year. But the last two years offensively in expect them to be anywhere deers explosive if they happy that just wasn't going to be a real thing, the Trojans this fall, ten seconds, literally. Would you make Jalen hurts playing for Alabama against Arkansas state with that four-game redshirt ruled is now in place, I have no idea what to make of it other than the fact that Nick Sabin has just say we're going to try to play you in every game. I if you literally does not make any sense go. We'll talk to you next next Monday. We're already this weekend. I'll be your limited in Texas A&_M. So we'll be able to JIMBO about that. Big thoughts are coming off. We'll see where their mind. For those guys. Whatever the war. Hawks a go. Enjoy. Thank you, buddy. Thanks, guys. Pleasure. We're presented by progressive insurance. And Fitz Simons SEC analysts Cole cubelic the really difficult part for a college football player is what, college coaches can hold over them in everything that, they want have worked for strive for need they. Have, to have is playing time College coaches understand that they control the future of a lot of these kids now we've seen some of this change recently with transfer rules in. Guys have different. Ways out fifteen twenty years ago the work transfer with the death which for your college football career not many guys rebounding back from that somewhere else in having successful. And they can hold that over kids. Heads and you hear some of the stories, about Dirk into record streets coach and the food shaming forcing the kid to eat, candy bars, while he's watching his. Down the road because he's obviously not getting taper duty cardio eating candy bars so he's just going to be heavier. The next time he has to, do something and I've never heard, of anything like that in my life nowhere not not pee peewee football not wrestling baseball nowhere that's it It's unthinkable but lost in all of this when you talk about cultures, the fact, that George McNair lost. Some of the things, that you can go back and outlined DJ Durkan in, his staff and record the, streets did as to what happened on the day the McNair passed. Away and even though it feels like it all leads together in one, equals the other I don't think that that's a hundred percent accurate now I can talk about how kids are mistreated I've you talk about have you talking about language I can talk about abuse both physical mental and emotional but the reality is lost his life due to a heat stroke, and we have come up as a. Then to not have been diagnosed With the seizure until EMT responders came in to. Have a big portion of this entire time line that's sort of unspoken, for that's unthinkable with the amount of people that are out during training sessions and practices it's it's just it's not right and and it's unfortunate and it's I don't even know where you go from here if you're one of his teammates I I don't know how, you enjoy putting your, uniform on the rest of this year Career Worked I was your, roommate what did he play guard or tackle sinner next to this? "State fehim's probably are going to argue about alabama being you and i actually think they're going to pole and ohio state as a force feed the people some people are debating gideon i see them winning it dislike ohio state did and fifteen is the 4's pete but but i also do you almost actually like it wasn't even debatable and that's why i wanted to know when you've got a one is the sec chairman of cheerleading because i just i just don't i just don't get it meant you got at least i mean barca's and avoids the need when paul they at least will doubtless there's other teams round the kinds of all i i did but you just made my point formula and you just said that you thought the right team guide in in alabama you think that that's going to be the team that wins the national title in fact that's more love for alabama i i have said on this show set it on twitter as well to jeff then i think there's a better chance the sec goes oh two in the college football playoffs then to ano why big oaklahoma google peak georgia that my opinion i think i think the alabama defense and the alabama pass rush if if if put uh kelly you that the quarterback for peru clemson if fa put pressure on him and he can't complete some of those short crossing pattern is gonna be a long night for him and cl for clemson because i think alabama's my have deal get enough pressure on it but i'm looking at to be an alabama oklahoma title game but i just i just had to get a little piece of any peter begin didn't even get make it sound like there was even have to pay i mean look at least the data schedule and then those thing when you give them fifty five points you'll lose by thirty one for your second loss of the year idiot it was a nobrainer my friend okay i i just wanted to check on that one why don't you get that up but by the way from the fcc it was a listened the amount the czech that i got from the sec home offices from nick saving himself it was the one hundred twenty five thousand dollars i'm not gonna lie i cash it allows guy i.

"I'm a i believe that as well to i think clemson is a more and i'm trying to realize is is in my thinking about last year's team moment think dejount what wing goal male disowned watson thicket a mile william exit about the process in which you've seen happened in tuscaloosa and is almost identical to was happening clemson right tough are recruiting class classes dominant defensive land big offense of land scio players of special going in the first round they have dominant guys all over the field so when you look at when you look at both the for a long time pb in college football we we could look at the sheet before the game started and say alabama's this way better than this team that they buy the play again usher from from a jim is in joe standpoint that's not the case anymore when you look across the line of scrimmage at glimpse in defensive line is like looking at decider man looking at it is added spiderman annulled spiderman so i think i think this is is is required is required by us as analysts as people to talk about this game get people ready for the game to make sure that we identify the things that we see now with that being said everybody may not agree on it but what i think has happened is i think dabbo and i think clemson has say we wanna be physical at the lima scrimmage we want dynamic players that can make plays on a house we need a quarterback that's going to renew system how we want to run it even though is not the show i kelly bran is doing exactly what they meant they been asking them to do so the conversation is different i think a lot of alabama fans are used to going in the game's being undoubtably the best team going into the game that's not the case this i think everybody and i think it the got less miles run outta baton rouge i think everybody tried to out bam obama and the only team that i think that's capable of alabama obama is glimpse modo jason in birmingham alabama what's up here right on my topic all right so this is.

"And still able to be in a position that day and you can you get knows guys back in like this is the worst this hit holly the worst team that savings had and three years and then it's still in the college football player and analysts in a in larry in shelby and i know a lot of you listen to the find bombshell believe that right now this is the life you want it you you wanted to be criticised you were just guess what they're not saying that about tennissee football right now they're not saying that about florida football it is win is college football season right now for alabama under next saving is always going to be that way is passer fail no question did you win a national championship that's up that you passed do you not went on national championship yufei it goes in line with the conversation is all contacts write you got to have you got to have contacts when you talk about alabama you talking about win a national championships is not a fan base is not a it as happy with ten wins eleven wins like i know a lot of people say oh well that's a great seasons way go in everybody's to be happy about that where do well what koma takes you talk you talking about a programme nece trying to resurgent heaven agree year are you talking about a program where the standard is the play for sec championship and get into the college football playoff that's the conversation we're having so i think a lot of it is the fact that alabama was in in that lambah and played an sec championship and one it um it that is the level to which they have risen in order for people to show harsh criticism and is a good thing right it when you declined go to heal the conversation is definitely going to be negative win there's a kink into armor where why do you think so many people come after us pin near the reason why is the top of because as the top dollar i and i say that before i even started working for this lady was because he you you hate what's the best in the field in the best in the field has been alabama crimson tide football underneath nick saeb that's just the facts jet admitted there's no doubt about that uh more your phone at oxford.
