Okay? And we don't want

If you had to break a window to get out you might not know it but the glass for your car's windshield might be different from the glass in the windows some might be tempered glass and some might be laminated glass eliminated glasses designed not to break even in a crash to decrease the odds that someone in the car will be objected and that matters because if you need to get out in an emergency you might not be able to even using car scape tools designed to help you. The AAA study showed that most car scape tools were effective at breaking tempered glass but not laminated glass in fact none of the tools tested in the study were able to completely completely breakthrough laminated glass a few were effective at spider webbing the glass. Only an increasing number of new vehicles have switched from using tempered side glass windows windows two laminated side glass windows as many as one in three two thousand eighteen vehicles. That's in response to federal safety standards however most cars that have primarily nearly laminated glass also have at least one window made of tempered glass according to Triple A. Each of a car's windows should have a sticker in the bottom corner that indicates the glass type. If you can't find it you can contact your vehicles manufacturer and ask furthermore just because the study shows the car escaped tools aren't always effective. It doesn't mean you shouldn't have one in your car. On the contrary we spoke via email with Gregg Brennan triple as director of Automotive Engineering and industry relation listen. He said AAA recommends a spring loaded style tool as we found that some of the hammer tools tested broke when impacting glass keep in mind that any tool you select will only effective for breaking tempered glass. These tools are also especially useful in case your seatbelt released doesn't work some car scape tools incorporate blades let you quickly and safely slice your seatbelt rather than fumbling with the buckle that might not open spring loaded style tools contain contain an inner mechanism that consists of a sharp spike that could be deployed within the force to break attempt glass window. Thanks to a cold spring after you by such a tool. Oh you should test it on the surface of a note pad or piece of softwood. You'll hear a click and when you remove the device from the surface. You'll see an invented whole meaning that the device works unwind demonstrations can also help you familiarize yourself with how to use the tool just in case now for the scary part. If you get into an accident where you must escape your car especially if it's sinking in water. What do you do make sure you know what type of glass your car's driver side window has. If it's laminated know that you'll will need to escape through a different window if won't roll down if your car has all laminated glass. It's critical to get a window roll down as quickly as possible the experts we talked to all recommended the shore method as an easy way to remember what to do in the event of such an emergency. That's sure s stay calm. You unbuckle your seatbelt or cut. If it's jammed are roll down or break the windows and e exit the vehicle quickly and help children out. I don't call nine one one. Until after you've escaped you can have a matter of seconds until water rises to the bottom of the passenger windows so time is of the essence. It's scary to think that you might need to prepare for an incident that traps you in your car but experts agree that it's better to acknowledge the possibility if you have a tool within easy reach and you have some idea of what to do you'll save crucial. Seconds could make the difference between escaping from your carp or not.

"Hello, Dave listening to a song seven forty KTAR h hey, how's it going? Hey, how's it going? Jim. It's funny. The guy before me was talking about water heater. Way down a lake house up near cold spring. And we've got a thirty two year old rain forty gallon water heater that still cranks out hot water. We're not there much my dad's place passed away back in November. But every time it is supposed to be below freezing. We don't we just shut off the water. But I'm just wondering is it visable to actually turn up the breaker to the water heater when we're not there? Because like I said that it's thirty eight years old. It's always been on even with the water off. Yes. And it's still kicking out water. I wanna you know, see how we can get another thirty two years out of it. Well, I wouldn't hold my breath on another thirty two years out of that water here. But. Drizzly if it's been doing just fine leaving it on there all the time. Or was it a weekend place for him? A weekend place and. It hasn't really been used actually in the past two years. Okay. Now, you know, if if it's been working that way, I would probably not change the operation at this point. Okay. Like anything else you change? How it's being used. You. You may affect how. Well, it's gonna work. I will tell you at our our our weekend place the at the deer lease there. We shut it off when we leave turn it on. But honestly, we don't get thirty two years out of water heater either. Okay. We've never even replace ano-. Rod in it and the water there is really nasty too. So I guess just keep it status quo and not change what we're doing. Yeah. Let's not rock the boat on that one. Okay. Hey, we rock the boat on the. It was what place when I was three months old thirty nine and the compressor still picking to. Wow. Compressor with the with the junk atoll ninety two air handlers. That's impressive. Yeah. All right. Well, thanks a lot. And you have a great week you as well. Thank you, sir. Bye. Bye. Again, seven one three two one two five eight seven four you don't get that kind of time auto water heaters. That's just amazing eight six six nine three seven zero zero zero three. Let's head though, Willis, Texas. Hello, gary. Hi, jim. How're you doing wonderful? How 'bout you? Good. Yeah. I have a hallway of ceramic tile, which is in between an interior and exterior wall in an area about two feet by three feet. I have tiles which have raised about an eighth to a quarter of a niche and several months ago. I had a new HVAC system installed in its which is located in a room adjacent to this area. They didn't clear the drain line and the rooms carpet became saturated with water could water have gotten underneath the tile and created the expansion. Unlikely. This is ceramic tile. Correct. Yes. Okay. Towels made to go underwater and shouldn't have any issues with it. So I don't think underneath underneath..

"This is what were you thinking about tired end book character Bill home, and we are here at McGee Marsh? And this is our annual show from McGee Marsh where we are birding, and I had hoped to setup somewhere where you could hear birds in the background while we're doing our podcast. But unfortunately, the birding is not very good. This time around is it Bill. I've never seen. Our Tory warbler. No, no. So I'm sitting in the parking lot in an area near the bald eagle nest in the bald eagles just gonna have to wait to get to that nest hungry babies. So what? I have some baked rippled potato chips. They're low fat. And I think that the healthy for an eagle because you don't want to feed in eagle fatty tips. Absolutely not. I mean. Yeah. Fast started. No, no. But it's been. You know, there has been a lot of cold weather this spring. It's been a very cold spring. And because you know, I was surprised at how few birds there are this year. How about you? I really am surprised. I. Chattanooga warblers. Nope. Nope. And and what what we're doing is. 'cause Bill is kind of in a way sitting this show out because he just isn't getting any support from the listeners. And you know, frankly, wh what did you say you said, I'll be darned tuten if I'm gonna drive three and a half hours to do a podcast and just have it thrown back in my face. I it you said something like that. Didn't you? Right. Right. And so instead, we're using Skype FaceTime thing. And I have my new square iphone dangling around my neck and bills faces is right there, and we're burning that way. Oh. That's a chimp. Yeah. Chimp a chimp got loose this year. I think chip is in charge of the blog this year. That's coming from the Marsh. Just. Between you and me. It's so chilly that I'm wearing yoga pants today while I'm burning and I have to say I'm getting. The response from the ladies to that decision. You're you're. I am a well known author and it's been a little taxing today. Because you know, I've been you know, you've been bumped around a little bit because I'm wearing that sandwich signed with the. Yeah. With the big feather brained thing on the front and on the back and apply. Apply. With is heavy. I it's heavy carrying a sandwich sign around. But you know, it's a lot here. Even the plywood is that chara pickles. The jar of pickles. Yeah. Because you know. Well, you know, the bread doesn't wave very much for a sandwich sign, but you know, the pickles do. Yeah. Yeah. So I've been getting some good response to the book, I have been blocking the boardwalk with the sign telling people that they at least have to take a postcard if they want to get past me on the boardwalk, and then I I kind of pivot like turnstile. So, you know, at least I'm getting the word our. Does your charging her quarter for that passage, correct? Right. Right. Cashbox? Quickly you're making a small office. I am I am. And it was a I appreciate your suggestion that we only take bitcoins. Bitcoins. Exactly, right. Right. So let me remind people. This is our podcast from McGee Marsh. And this is the podcast that we do every year. And I'm saying that particularly loud. So that the people in the parking lot around me don't think that I'm just some idiot yelling on a cell phone that instead, I'm an idiot doing a podcast. Right. Right. Right. You should make that clear. Yeah. Yeah. That's why I was repeating that. I certainly wasn't repeating that for our listeners benefit because you know, anyone who you can't tune in late in the podcast, either know what's going on or they don't I mean, you can tune out. But have you ever heard of anyone tuning in late to a podcast? No, I have unless the dead the dead. Tune in late. I mean, that's true. Some of our some of our best listeners are dead people. Tweets. There is there is a long delay. But there've been a few good birds. There was that remember I would say last year. Remember that terrible. First day, we had at MaGee Marsh last year and. Yup. Yup. And this I'm hoping that just like last year tomorrow is a better day. Because really, you know, we just gave up on the bird walk after not too long because there wasn't anything there. And we went right for the estrogen trail. Well. Oh it did. It did. Because there was the the black Bernie and warbler showed up and the blue headed vario. I got some nice photos of the blue headed vario of warbling various there. I think they're warbling at you Bill. They picture of you around my neck on the iphone, the FaceTime thing, they they never saw person with two faces before I don't think our president has birded here. Political. That's a political funny, isn't it? Yeah. Yup. And there was a very beautiful bright palm warbler and a couple of black throated blue. So. Still was it worth driving three and a half hours for well. Compared to sitting at home. You betcha. Napping or well trying to but I'd be doing duckpin chores, or I would be endlessly being called down to the kitchen to take the parrot who's quacking and annoying. Linda and having to move the parrot to the Perez timeout cage in the back room. And then when she was done fiddling around in the kitchen, meaning the wife having to go pick up the pair it and bring it back into it's cage. Blahdy blahdy, blah. Couldn't be happier. No, no. I haven't seen any of those haven't seen any fructose warblers or golden claw warblers nothing like that. No. Nope. Nope. Nope. I did have a story. I wanted to tell you about remember I told you about that high-handed burder at the sewage treatment pond the one who wondering why hadn't been birding yet to see ducks this year. Remember well last week. I was at Coldwater river preserve which is near freeport, Michigan. Not too far from where I live, and I was enjoying myself. I just got there. And there were more birds there than there are here. I have to see it was a pretty good day and run into this guy. And he's got some volunteers with him who are doing garlic mustard poll I've heard of taffy poll, but I mean who's going to buy anything that you make with polling? Garlic mustard. But that's what they were doing. No, it doesn't. But anyway, he said, oh, do you come here often? And you know, he came to a full stop us with his volunteers. So I I come here once in a while are you a bird or do you take pictures of flowers? He was very quick on the uptake because he saw me with a camera. I said, well, I'm Roberta and he said, what's the most note worthy bird you've seen here? And I said, well, I guess it'd be a Seru in warbler. He said Rulli and warbler when I said, well, you know, it was last year. I just got here was in may or June June for the Rulli and were to be here in June. It would have to be nesting now. He's just minding my own business. Bill is just minding my own business. Yeah. Well, I don't know just trying to mind my own business. And suddenly, you know, I'm giving the third degree about some bird. I may or may not have seen. You know, you're talking about. So I just said, well, you, you know, you don't have to believe me can look on Ebert and you'll see that other people have reported that civilian warbler too. And he said, oh e bird. So I I don't know what that's all about. But. Science. It could be I didn't know what that was about. So I just you know, tip my hat and wished him top of the day. And you know, that that was it that was it. Encounters while speaking of unpleasant encounter since I've already kind of given the show a negative turn. I have a bookstore. A bookstore story to tell you you. Remember you remember last year when you and I were heading down to McGee Marsh that we stopped in a border town. I'm not going to name the town, but we stopped in a border town. And there was a bookstore there in a border town and the bookstore. I I made a lot of noise in the bookstore about being an author. I have to admit it because they'd never heard of me before. And they said Howard I like to come one year from today and do a talk at the bookstore that was last year on this day. And so you know, what I completely forgot about it because they never got in touch with me again. I completely. Yeah. I mean, you know, we would you remember something for an entire year? So what happened was you know, it was just something mentioned, you know, about in another year to the day during the talk at the bookstore. And I completely forgot about it until you know, the bookstore. Didn't forget about it. I didn't realize I had made a commitment because I got an Email from the bookstore the day after apparently when I was supposed to be there. And you know, what they said, you know, what the Email said. Email said, oh, we're so relieved we feel like a black cloud has been lifted from us. Yeah. That's incredible. So I don't know, you know, what can you do to make people happy? So. Well, anyway, I guess we're getting to the end Bill of this special listener depreciation program at MaGee marshy think we've talked enough about the birds yet. Okay. No, I don't think. So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to head over to our national wildlife refuge, which is just next door their neighbors. They come over for tea. You know, crane creek and our national wildlife refuge. Our neighbors McGee marshes part of crane creek, and they, you know, exchange Goss up anyway, I'm going to go over there. And I'm gonna drive the auto tour, and I'm gonna let you enjoy that with me. Me out the window, which I was gonna ask would you like to be roof mounted? I guess that's a that's a personal question. I guess. I would love to be. Yes. Yes. Well, okay. I would like to thank our listeners for you know. Well, why should I thank him? What did they ever do for us? Roll zero so Bill I'd like to thank you for coming with me in spirit and electronically to McGee Marsh this year again, and we will try and get together soon. And let's go to Coldwater river. Preserve, and let's do some birding will do a show there. And let's see if we can find that snotty guy who didn't believe that there's really and warblers air. What say maybe we'll have a dust up. Confrontational interview with.
