"That's what they say being Oughta know. Amanda I I the theme. Are you sure that wasn't the hook theme. That feels like the title song on the DVD Menu it is and it's one they're going it's like the busy the hustle and bustle of the shipyard all Dada Dada. Then rose walks up up and she. She lives her big hot and she looks at the ship. Oh my God the space work. You just did. That was good and she edited. Did the flip of the hands because the the hat goes up. Yeah but really just this. That's the thing you watch a lot of actors as a man and I actors Kobe urine after trying to be. You're doing really really well Byron but you look at a lot of these actors and they don't they just stare stare. There's nothing happening. Can't ever stop. Just it's she just got so angry and shops her microphone. We both like this all day but are creases like my face moves a lot. Yeah then you'll watch you know an actor and they'll just be looking we'll just be. Yeah and have you found because you're grin let's get big movies and TV things. Have you found that. Maybe you used to do a lot of funny face and you've had to bring it down or did you just always stare. You know I will say. I think that there are some. I've litter I've caught myself going. You know when you have when you're you're in a scene with somebody and they have a lot of words and this is take eight and you can but it's on you and you just catch yourself on like I'm I'm not doing anything. But then you can fall in a trap with that too and then you start trying to do like You know like kind of squinting unlike exasperated look to the side and look down whatever it is and then you're like what am I doing now. No I'm totally lost yet. Yeah I don't know I I don't know I mean everybody's different I mean at those at that level. It's an interesting thing like say you're in a scene and you're like watching watching like a big spaceship crashed into a mountain from a marvel movie. Nobody's saying like if you're watching that and you're an actor. Yeah like would you like. What can we see what you do? I remem- Monday. I do have an example on. Oh God what was it. Oh it was the tag in the in the first part one of the The vendors and game one the first one I know stuff anyway it was. It was me Jackson. And they're like okay so you're looking at this building. Okay and a helicopter is GONNA come flying down here. It's going to crash into to that building. It's GONNA fall down. It's GonNa hit this car. The car's going to explode and action and and it's even more challenging when you're doing doing it with like you're supposed to be like in unison. The helicopters falling and then as well and then it falls down and then you have to reacted the exposure. It's really hard to. They have like a tennis ball. That you're none it was. It was like five blocks away. It was a distance it was it was in the distance distance. And it was. It's a hard thing to do and I don't think I've at all mastered it but I think obviously the people who who are in every every avengers moving you have to do all the time are better at it but sometimes it's helpful when someone talks you through it and they say okay. Yeah the helicopters falling thing in crashes and then and then it falls down to the ground and there's somebody underneath there. Is there someone to talk you through it. How do you even do that? Truthfully I ju- I mean match. Imagine editing and you go while they're gonNA cut to the helicopter copter. Thank God yeah. It's not just a winner on my frigging face you substitution and you. Think of something crazy you have seen like. It's a homeless man and now he's walking down the train station and now he's pulling his Dick Gautier and now he's chasing Mea. I've seen that I've seen that to can't came out of the tunnel. I was alone in the train station and he pulled his amandas just for visual a man has got her hand out out just grabbing. This is not the Dick this. I've got the little man the man he's Barbie. I think some people are just really good at it and do you think it has to do with just the shape of your faith. Sorry on your hands this this is all your. I'm your acting teacher and I do think it has to do with the structure of your face. I think that has to do with it. I also think it has to do with camera angles. I think it has to do with lighting light because my mind is going to like Tom Cruise. Who is the master of that like if you watch any of his reactive work guys my God I I it's it's La- and I and I I I've worked with him and he like it's also so real and you're just like you so I don't know how he does it but it's just like and he'll he'll yell he'll yell new through things to okay? Ah like he'll be like we're running and he'll be like look up to the left look up to the left. There's there's there's Alec after coming down okay. Now we're going to go cut to the right because he knows it's on his back but he knows when he looks back. He's going to see the helicopter fall from there to there. Oh my God I think it just comes with having to do it so many times and then knowing where the cameras positioned and knowing how to make the island believable. Yeah then just being Tom Cruise. Here's the thing. I think Tom Cruise doesn't have that voice in his head. That's like you're not doing a good job. I don't think he does. He doesn't have that. That's where you look silly. Tom Like do you think he's ever looked think thought looked silly. Only when he's being goof. Yeah I think he has he has the ability to be silly and be like that was dumb but I think professionally. He's like I. It's in the ass no matter what I do. It's in the bag. Yeah there's never been a movie star like him and there there won't ever be. What about Leo? I mean I don't know why Leo never got into like actually I was just going. What what what? What movies has he been in? That are shelter catch driven. That was it was kind of more like spy issue. It was more like what about shelter. I shelter island alone. I mean no. He never really was the beach you ever saw. I don't think I saw world. We should look at it. Yacht there is surly all. There's a there's a few in there you go. Oh my God we should do a whole season of the beach it is. It's it's really I that was like my. I watched that so I don't know if I watched it in the theater but I watched it so many times. Yeah and it's so tight. Tanic might have been both Leo. I mean yeah but yeah I do agree that Tom Cruise is really the last real movie star. And he's he keeps peaking like mission impossible Soga like the new ones are so good. Yeah goes protocol. I WanNa see him though. Play more real people because Jerry. Maguire even Magnolia playing characters. Like that that he's so good like Rainman he also good in those understated. But you don't think he may afl flown on the coupe. Why like on being connected like like a real person you mean? He's gone too far. Well I mean he's gone too far start like he a handle a like. Maybe I wonder I just wonder. I haven't seen in a while and not like I can't relate to his character in mission impossible. I know I can because because he loves his wife so much. Oh Yeah Yeah. That's not like that's like an over the top character. I the actions over the top. Yeah but I just think. He's so charismatic as normal people that he could play those. I just. I hope you if you're listening Well maybe we should add him when we do the round. y'All with all of the marvel. Yeah well he is one of the most charismatic people I love are met and he will. Will we shot a movie together in New Orleans however many years ago and we were there for like six months. He we'd like we'd have like an alligator wrangler onset. Because we were shooting near the swamps and he would sit down and talk to them for forty five minutes. Like what is your life life. How how did you get into this line of work? What is your family like? Do they do it too. He was so interested. Stead wow in people in careers in personalities. I really feel like I said I I I saw said you should you should do so. He said that's too. Yeah Oh my God you're right thank you and did he. I think he would be open into it. I think it's just whatever he whatever comes his way. I don't know I think he's very busy. Yeah I'd like to see him with an Oscar and his him has he never won. Oskar now not google. You'RE GONNA get a lot of angry commenters scar. He's been nominated. Aided okay he must have been on the he was nominated for Magnolia he was nominated for Jerry Maguire. he was nominated probably for rain. Man I can't I can't see it. Only God his performance in What's that movie with the Alien Alien? Oh yes now. That's playing average that is you are. I don't know what you have to look at. I've never seen a performance like he's owning he is just a dad in Staten Island or wherever he is and he's owning he's like Rachel. Get your things relieving this house in five minutes or whatever and he means it. He Leans now Tom Sub Leo with Tom. Cruise on the bow I'm definitely staying on the boat because I know don't crews would not let anything happen to me. Honda and I mean a two day like I do believe Tom. Cruise watching out for me and would never ever happened to me. I know I'll be okay because I know in the world. He's not GonNa let any essentially Koby we he knows you. He's never let anything happen. I don't believe he'll ever die. I know he's a fighter Dasher. No no way for sure. All right well okay. "Percent off mm for buying ten items or whatever and you WANNA throw a box of cereal in there and pay the difference. I'm fine with that. Are they saying they go. Oh like they bought a bunch of stuff at world market and then she's not shopping areas. ASPIRATIONAL L. Pure. One pure no like okay. What's a place Bloomingdale bloomingdale shopping shopping spree blew me Leumi? So that's different. 'cause you'd have a credit card. Let's just go to whole foods wholefoods perfect great. You're at whole foods foods and you're off duty and they go put in your phone number or whatever and you put in the guy's phone number so that you can get the points even though you're not buying anything for him like you get a discount because he's such a high ranking member of whole foods. Yeah or say you go to what starbucks and they're like oh you've racked up enough royalty points that you get a five dollars gift card and then you use that gift card to meet none of this astounding not not bad. I don't and I don't think an accountant really deals in points and bonus like I don't count she's not. Es Point Yeah Yeah. I don't think the accountant is looking through. Every she's looking at the total amount and putting it in a ledger somewhere. Yeah I'm fine with it. It doesn't bother me really all. Maybe maybe one for you one for me okay. That could that be a thing where it's like all right five dollars while they put it towards towards the purchase of his things and then the next one you know you can take that one for you now. What if he's she's doing the things you know like when you if you're say you're or buying frozen yogurt or green juice and you have a stamp card and it's like by nine by Tang get one free now? Does that change things. I think it does Amanda because because you can't assume that this though the skies rich you know he it depends on how he deals with his money If he's very frugal then that free green juice the day when you go out and and you and he goes go get my daily green juice and you go out and he goes. Okay can you know. Did you have the five dollars. I gave whatever you go. I didn't have to use the five dollars. It was free free right if you can't come back and say that because you use that free thing to get your own juice. Do you know what I'm talking about a Bogo Bogo like like say you go to pay less to buy this guy a pair of sandals and it's Bogo Day so buy one get one you get a second pair of sandals free well then you go if you're getting anything bonus or for free in a d just if you're getting Bogo then it's okay that want that needed rated sandals i. It's like if you just alerted him to the fact that it was Bogo day that he would have been like. Oh my God. My cousin Jeffey needed those. You know what I think you guys. I think it's a slippery slope. Sure and I think you have to adhere to either way and I would go like. Don't do it because because it's such a it's a bit of a grey area And I think you just just think you avoid it. I kind of agree agree and I have a a thought that maybe if you went to the guy and said hey it's Bogo today you might. You might go like. Oh what what's the. What's and then he might say? Why don't you keep the second but but I I agree? It's kind of a slippery slope. Although it's not running my morality bell about this how about this is the solution. Contact the accountant and say what do you think I keep coming up against this issue where I get twenty percents off something or I get a free Froyo or I get a Bogo. Oh in those situations is a cool Fi. Get that yeah. And she can or he not to be totally sexist. It could be a male accountant if there if I feel like that's a good source to go to with that stuff and if they're like no absolutely not then you go okay. Because that's the fear. I think her fee. I don't know if it's a matter again. But the fear is that the accountants is going to catch them. That's what it seems like. Yeah and the Accountant. Isn't your boss. So I think you can go to the accountant and say coming up against this thing. Yeah what do why do when it happens. That's interesting my thing is if you can't bring it up to the actual guy being like hey there's these extra points. Can I use them Tom. If you can't bring it upon yourself to do that then I'd say then don't do it because obviously there's something icky about it to you which there doesn't you have to be like you could very well be like. Hey can I use some of these points or whatever. But if you can't do that then I'd say then then then you shouldn't do it I think we're probably all onto something with that. Yeah why said it but I thought I I was also thinking at the exact same time. Yeah right well in fact everything you've said this whole podcast. I've thought I whatever I'm not bothered. Well my God did we go deep. We really the bottom of the ocean. They they called the ship of dreams and it was..

"She stake does because the girls are the girls. Triple turn it into just a girl's trip so oh longer funny. I'm staying for two different reasons now between now and when I in eighteen eighteen. I'm staying for this passionate like this and this is this is love. This is an thirty three with Craig. I'm staying because it's like look if we're GONNA die. Where like I feel like we'd be able able to figure something out together like I have this thing of just like I'd feel safer with him than I would without him? Do you know what I mean. I totally get and I. I think that's how I would feel at eighteen to Leo. So it's more of a rational decision now but it's still a rational and being like let's get through this together rather than just die that rather than just getting on a lifeboat and I wonder if you did get on the lifeboat. How how much that would nag at you going? What did happen to him? Yeah I your whole life would be what happened to Jack. Did he survive life. Is he going to show up one day. Did he die because of me did cow lock them in some jail cell. You die of me. ABC fiction if rose gets on the boat Oh and Jack Survives will cut to five years later rose. Is You know at a fancy dinner. Are Jack shows up in just a really Nice Tuxedo. Yes indeed happened at the end of the movie we remember. Yeah throws yeah. Spoiler spoiler alert passes away but she lives a whole life and I think that is the takeaway the movies. She kind of does leave her family doesn't she. She's like by starts a new life. Yeah lives lives for Jack Because of this. This interaction with Jack he was he. He didn't spend a lot of time on this earth but he did make he did he did do a lot. He made an impact. You.

"Rose why you gotta be so stupid US beautiful well due to me I I WANNA be certain it feels really nice. Okay do it again. You gotta be so stupid rose why you gotta be so stupid. Oh my God. Everybody's telling me to stay on the boat. Why Am I? There's a he's convincing. He's authoritative. I'm saying on the boat. Oh I'm probably as rose. I'm staying I think of staying on the boat. I think you guys saying a lifeboat. I'm going on the life I am. I am not staying on the titanic. I personally have a will to live and and if it's a change if it were like my husband but I don't know because I feel like my if it were so now can we play the game where we do it. As though it's UH and real life insurance shaking us. Is this going to be okay to do but it would have to be but it could be ten years into a relation of. This is the day after I I know but I wanna I wanNA play the game like it is us now with our people. She wants to prove her loyalty. Okay we'll go nobody I just WANNA play it out and see what I think might happen in real way happens not sure. Can I ask For myself where the children were my children. This is because this totally grandparent there in with the grandparents in New York already they stayed behind. We took the ticket. We're like a honeymoon cruise. We're all on a run a ten year light born yet or no they have okay. So you're saying you want it like today. I WANNA play it today. So let's save. The children are safe. The children are safe. Not Not anywhere near the boat or are they on the boat. Oh okay with because they're on the lifeboat. You're getting the life out. I think that if I'm sitting on this lifeboat with my kids I would leave Tehran. Probably to die. Not because I don't know because I mean but he would. It would be the same if he was on the lifeboat with the kid would leave you leave me to die. You gotta protect but you gotta go take care of these kids or you go. No excuse me. He's the uncle. Let them on. Yeah yeah I would pull pull off work. I'd be like go find. You know what did what did rose survive on like doorframes. She was running on something she she survived survived. She did but if that was our situation it would be like I have to I. This is the worst thing ever but I gotta stay with kids and Tehran. Tehran wouldn't be like no no terror. Terror would be totally like go. He'd be we'd like forced me to stay on the boat. Yeah that'd be horrific and he would do that thing. It'd be glad to hear where you would say like. You didn't want to go and you really want to go go go. I never loved your marriage was a sham. Like you like you through rocks. Set Your Dire Wolf to get him to run away into the for their own. Gop Away at the at the rope holding the he'd like push push it off on your but where were they take the dog in Ireland. Airbus like in my mind if it were with Matt I would i. I would like to think that I would not get on the lifeboat. That but that he would have to like like Knock me out and put me on the lifeboat. And then yeah. I think that if you'd you'd probably have done that before the ship started I it was I think if there was no responsibilities bonds abilities involved I think I would go back on the boat. Yeah because I would be at that point. You don't know what is going to happen. I would go. I would get off of the lifeboat. Go on the titanic defined find Terron. Also we're all in our thirties. We've had a life. Yep this is India and I grew up in the coal. They feel like it could survive. This is crazy to me because I'm thinking when when I look at myself as an eighteen year old who's just had a night with the Dreamy Dream Boat in the world. I'm so much more compelled to stay on the boat on the titanic. Then as I am now where it's like AAC it's like that it's like totally ice. See your logic I understand it. It's so interesting how you can kind of argue either either side. Because you're saying like you just met this guy in your whole futures in front of you with hen in but it's based on nothing but the the feeling of that passion ashes. That excitement is enough to go. Screw it I'm staying on well because that's what that sort of love does to you. It makes you irrational. And that's why so many rockstars get divorced. I.

"The truth it's the truth you like it all you'll take it all. I like it all and I'll tell you what I don't have enough every day but I do love a pastry. Yeah I love Doughnut Doughnut. Great I love a Muffin I love croissant. I love an ECLAIR. Oh No bolt not for me. Why scream at a cream to sweeten another cream sealing? The ECLAIR doesn't taste too sweet to me. I like a non not too sweetie Claire. I'm and I'm again. I'm sorry. Sorry but it's just who I am too me long time to come to terms with this. Yeah that's okay. What's your favorite morning pastry? I think it's GonNa be a croissant. CHOCOLATE PL- plane. I'm not a big sweets person. I don't eat I. I don't crave IT I. I would rather have have like a giant plate of nachos GimMe Gimme a NACHOS give me some French fries okay. You're Saltillo Altea. I'm assaulting all too late debrosse right but I can I can. I don't I don't need any of that stuff. Also because sugar is addicting. So like because you don't really you don't like it you don't get a DICTA- true drive an addiction. I developed an addiction. You can get it so fast because I haven't been eating that much sugar and then over for of course thanksgiving. I'm having like a slice of Pie and then I have a whole leftover pumpkin pie so the next day. I'm having you know more another piece of Pie and then suddenly I'm like Holy Shit like I'm like like Jonesing for her. Yeah so then. Last night I said enough is enough. I'm going to curb it with a glass of red wine so now I'm coming down off the pumpkin pie with a nasty wine habit. Red Wine also have a ton of yeah. Yeah so but I mean I feel like red wine of the two. I don't know as much sugar but I think your body metabolize it as sugar so I'm really care. Drink red wine. It freaks my body out with smooth right to bed. Yeah Wait Weinstein. I haven't had well I actually. I did have a cocktail at Thanksgiving giving but a preview that no alcohol and four months. Wow isn't that nuts. That's great. Don't know me that well but let me tell you. Yeah that is nutty really. What do you normally drink? I mean I'm I'm like if I go out. I have to cocktails and night. Yeah I will go. I will do that frequently right where right now. It's like I am too but I just found I don't know if it's just like getting older if it's just sort of workload owed having kids whatever get hung over like that. I have one glass of something and then the next day I'm useless and yeah and then it just messes up your the whole schedule. Your whole day is gone. I feel like that's suddenly happened to me like I can't now I can't like go to a party and have like you know three drinks like forget it. I'll be so hung over over the next day so now I'm kind of like maybe two drinks too if you're being wile Nadi mood glasses of woo but but yeah I can I can. I can go down all right guys. I'll talk about this all day. Okay guys. We'll be right back. Okay guys welcome back okay. We're here with T.. It's time for the big one. Okay okay here we go. You are.

"Cat and fourteen? Is Your Cat Roland where I mean. She's just like okay so she she's on. This automatic feeder says she gets fed. I'd like five times in the morning and then five in the morning yes so she doesn't wake us up so she starts getting fed at five. AM they're like a little beep like an alarm so she here is no she. She a girl but she just knows humming because she knows her routine does. I've seen wait like ten minutes before it's it's time to stare at the food. And then she has her nap schedule and her litter boxes in the office. So that all get's moved to rail comments a big change to stay. Yeah now I don't know where your children's litter boxes they go on the floor. They don't okay so then it's probably not that. Yeah yeah they go wherever they squat. Wherever were now how would you say you could have set a boundary? And you're like I don't want the family coming for more than four days. How would you ever even say that? I knew so so the tests that I'm doing this holiday season. My mom is coming in and because I'm booking the flight flight for her oh I got kind of strategic with that so I got her coming in December twenty eighth to January second perfect perfect. And I'm like okay. We're doing it. This is blocked off so i. I'm hoping that that will be a good chunk of time. But it's always hard to know because because when someone just goes this is my this is my flight itinerary. Then you're then you're you're just rolling with whatever that is on You know I don't want to sound Komo curmudgeonly. Don't come to my house L. A.. You're not you're not coming across it it it just. It's hard for me to say when I'm on that train. It's hard for me to say. No like universal sure. I'm sure Saturday would be a great thing. It's hard for me to sort of set at the set the boundaries once. It's in in motion. That makes a lot of trying to stab parameters before arrival. That's that's the genius. Yes a genius approach because then when someone's checking your dates that's when you say. Oh these four days would be amazing for you gotTa do it Dan because otherwise you have no control. We should win. So it's going to come out. You should find your cap day of when they can stay until and then book something for yourself and go. I've got this thing going. I gotta get out in Palm Springs on the fifth just and whatever and I can't talk about it. Is that a lie. Is it just no because you book the pumps you do so you have to. You can't because then what happens is is the city and then you're good you're fine okay. Okay so yeah I I would say a week but that's just me being like overly cautious with people but could you have someone for a week in your house. Well I am not my apartment but I mean if you had one other bedroom would you want what someone going to stay for a week. Well it depends who they were it would be. It wouldn't be great but if they were coming in from out of town I'd be like yeah you can. You can stay especially if they hadn't been to L. A.. In a while or ever and then but it is very nice when people could get an airbnb like right down the street from you or you know but yes staying at your place and like doing the dishes and helping out like. That's a huge thing. Well there's also you know going back to the parents. There's some built in babysitters I mean. If they're saying for ten days you can probably get a night out of that L. East saying for like four or you can't be like enjoy the children. Jared I date night you know. That's a good point but that could be something that you could take out of that sort of reap the benefits of yeah totally depends on the people. I think you're right about that because there are some people who like a friend. It would be fun but my parents never. I mean they're just in Long Beach but right they would never stay with us unless something you know is an emergency. I guess. What would the emergency Mundell Kahal does that. That ever happened. I wonder if that happens. Sometimes if it's like a silica friend sleeps over because they during the rush. Yeah that's happened. Yeah Yeah and then they can just sleep on the couch right not not near that. That Gaddis Margot's bad side. Well I hope that helped. It did. Thank you permission to set boundaries. "In production I kill my young baby to save a village and I go back in time and kill in what I take the promotion at work with strings Italian muffins for the rest of my life. And if it meant I didn't have to. Would I have Satan's child everyone and welcome to make one each week. We discussed new ethical questions ranging from historical decisions to relationship problems to brain. Busting moral choices. The questions can be complicated to discuss. But they're always fun to talk about because they force you to look deep deep deep with inside yourself. Well you like what you see. Kobe smoulders yes. That was so people really it freaks people out I see it happening. Live is a big deal. Yeah it's always the people who are listeners. who their faces? Just light it up if feels like being around a celebrity feels like this is like watching the Beatles. It's like the Queen exactly like meeting to Queen when you're listening to it. It sounds like it's kind of prerecorded boarded and you know it's not because it's slightly different every but it's what an experience. Thank you for that and this has been a lot of fun. I know you're you're you're never at least forty five minutes. This is crazy we are. This is our second guessed from the marble verse AG WHO's Or who was in guardians of the galaxy. Now that's marvel yes. Okay and then he's GonNa be that bad that tagline for them marvel. Yeah after the credits. It's just me sitting here the teaser. Select because it's slightly judgy of what I don't know that now's how's that so we're really. I mean that you've got a lot more to go but but I say get them all. Yeah next. We're going to try for Hawkeye Akai. Debt that Renner on here but I do love it. You would truly be the best guy he would eat come in here and he Owned the place. I have no doubt in my mind that he'd come in here and he'd be like like he'd be so excited that he was here. Am I wrong. He'd be like knocking on the wall. Panels being like these things are good good for soundproofing like like checking it out follow. You'd be like. Oh no he's got the gear. He also lives in in the woods so he has. He has like a palatial chunk of land somewhere so he built like he builds stuff like he is a man. Okay so he would maybe come in here and be like you know. I think the space is wonderful. But I'm sure he would find apart. You go yeah he would. That would be great. Actually 'cause he could help us with these wires like organize our wire. Yes there you go okay. Well this is really. We should feel so proud of ourselves because we are now like we started off the podcast with atlas. And now we're moving up and we have an a lister here started with Ebola. We're we're the listers Green Amanda flies. You're looking at a D.. At the asked sure okay I I star of of town. Yes that is this show while. It's a huge show to show. It's a huge show with our other friend. Jake Johnson Johnson. Oh Jason do this show. You should do this show. But he might be one of those guys who's like I don't do podcasts. No I think he would do it I think he would do. We know jake he was was in ghost girls the gone back in the day. Yeah Pre he is a true delight he would be a great addition to the big ones. He's a fun guy you superfund. And he's like he's family man. He's got lots of lots of disguise. Yeah he does. Okay Renner Johnson. If you're listening Renner Johnson Johannesson the big three baby de maybe all at the same time we have just the right amount of Seattle Jackley no more so just give us their numbers. Go nuts. Kobe thank you so much for being here ears. So it's my pleasure. I'm a huge fan. I'm very excited and we'd love your husband. Terrace who's been a multi multi multi guest yes us in multiple facets. He's one of our top three best guests. Oh Oh great. Yeah Yeah. He likes to problem solve like. He's a problem solver Um So I can imagine. I haven't actually earned his which is weird. We were talking about last night in tips that you hard the very uncomfortable going to try and twist your words entrap. You know they're gonNA he's been right so he has been even absolutely correct so we like to start off by asking our guests if they have any little big one yes and so please let we'll. Let's help you Well I thought you guys could help me on so it Tis the season Tis the season For visitors girl. I know tell me about it so I love. I love a visitor. I love visitor but I have a problem with Saying no in general in general listen But with houseguests the duration of stay. How long I find myself I love it when people come and then like I'm so exhausted by the time because I've just been planning I've been hosting? I put a lot of work so I guess I'm trying to figure out you know what is the. What is the correct offer to put out there? Like what you say if someone wants to come and visit and I and it's obviously different drift different strokes for different folks. If it's a friend that you you know you really want to hang with different situation than like a parent. Yes right grandparents situation but I do find a lot of tech because I'm Canadian I see I'm I'm from another land. They don't call immigration but so so people kind of come to stay kind of They come in. And they're like I've I mean Vancouver's only a three hour flight by it feels like a a journey so I'm very bad at setting parameters so I'm just wondering what your own set of parameters I'm have a special interest in the subject and I've done some research on it. Oh good so I have an answer. Please come to the right place. Etiquette says three days three days so he said what who etiquette your sources etiquette and etiquette. General says on average. What I've read? We are on books. I read a lot of these nineteen sixties self-help books and etiquette books. Okay and to me what I think is okay as a house guest and this is probably the maximum time I'd WanNa stay at. Someone tells three days and then get a hotel address out so I think I have a different answer from when with family. I think you're good for a week with like a seven day week a the seven day. I'm not counting Sunday. I'm counting the next day. The next But yeah just from like when family would come in and visit our family growing up. It just felt like people are flying in then a week. DOC is like the right amount of time now for a friend WHO's coming in you know throughout the year. Whatever yeah I mean? I'd say under five five days is probably I couldn't imagine being like I'm coming out. I'm staying for two weeks. Get ready I need to anyone absolutely a person who does how stays like I. Just I feel I've just. I've actually never done that. Except for when I was a kid and we'd visit family and we'd always go for like five days Max but I've never like gone to visit a friend unless it's just a night you know right And like stay at their house. What about family? All your family's out is that's the thing I'm local I'm maybe I'm not the best person to be speaking on this but never stopped. Stop me before. How long are people coming to stay with you We just had friends in town and they they were with us for eight days okay. They're you're like love him to death. Yeah there's it's also like it's different energies right. They're very self sufficient. They're doing the dishes in the saying okay right. So there's there is a certain etiquette involved in being their guest as well but it's it's I think it's probably mostly the family totally and because I have two children There are longer stays. And you're going so it's not just about me for once that's right but it so I'm saying it's like if grandparents are coming into town or something. This is a a moment for bonding to happen between my children and another family member but then you know after four days don. I'm I'm getting a little getting a little one of those things where they're like kind of looking to you to make the plans A. Yeah most. Yeah that's what's the most exhausting and this is something I also read. That adds a house guests. The polite thing to do is to have an opinion. So someone's like what would you I like to ride a day. You don't just say Oh. Whatever you want whatever's easiest for you you say I would like to go to a museum more right but I get that but then what if if you're like I would like to go to universal studios with you? You know what I mean. I think that's I mean. Yeah but but I get that but that's almost to me would be like refreshing rushing to go okay. I know that on Wednesday. We're doing universal. And then for that. Yeah okay so that pre them coming up but what if someone says that day Ya also people shouldn't expect you to go everywhere with them. Yeah they should be. That's sometimes family. It's like they're anxious about getting around. La like they are right. We're all in that one car. Now do you have a separate wing of your house for guests which wing or you're listening to the south north or west wig guest bedroom. There's like a comfortable place for people to stay so it's not like a couch situation. The wouldn't it be nice if we all had some sort of separate guests unit with its own cash and like I think if if we had that garage conversions and so if we make sure to terrorist cells fancy garage converse. We all have carried houses. Then we could people people can come to stay forever. I honestly wouldn't care but it's the fact that like for me having someone I'm like. I work from home a lot. I have a very set routine gene so when it comes to stay with me it really kind of jumbles me a little bit. It also jumbles the cat. Because it's like this with your kids are on thirteen. But my cat is very stricter chino. When people come to stay they stay in the guest bedroom which is my office and the cats room and so we're both displaced the the cat and fourteen? Is Your Cat Roland where I mean. She's just like okay so she she's on. This automatic feeder says she gets fed..

Elizabeth the perpetuity of robin sparkles from our. gosh specifically the robin sparkles version of of that character yes making robin a Canadian pop star in the eighties was an idea that was lofted to me by our craters in the second season I believe. I was nervous about it certainly at first because I'm not a singer but it it is a testament.

Bridget Bergen reports that some new Yorkers are glad he's home others not so much New York City is a tough town it's big and loud and demands attention especially from its elected officials so when its mayor bill de Blasio entered a historically crowded democratic presidential field this spring as the twenty third candidate some treated it like a joke this morning yet another new democratic candidate pushed his way into the clown car that's the late show with Stephen Cole bear I'm talking about New York City mayor and Frankenstein's monsters lawyer. bill Blasio. you hear the hometown crowd warm. so when he announced he was suspending his campaign it's no surprise some new Yorkers were rather please good for him. for him realizing that there is no chance of winning I don't think that people really really think of them as presidential quality yes the thing is like you got stuff happening you don't even know about it grow which is supposed to be taking care of the city that was Joanna Nick's you launder Redondo and Carl match it all in Brooklyn the mayor's home borough the ones you ran a campaign aimed at bringing his style of progressive leadership to a national stage pointing to real progressive accomplishments not just progressive ideas as he put it on the campaign trail but this was a tough summer for the mayor in July a five hour blackout knocked out power for thousands including all Broadway theater. here's the cast of the Tony Award winning musical he's town performing on the street in the video that went viral. at that very moment the blouse you was in Iowa campaigning and scramble to return to the city his absence was an issue and it became a real point of contention when just three days later the justice department announced after five long years it would not bring charges against a police officer who is a legal chokehold led to the death of a Staten Island man named Eric garner this is his sister Alicia flag garner demanding the city fire that officer immediately that brought the L. step up do your job stop trying to be a president when you can't even be a may day here today and now he's back although he says he never left but supporters Simone hajj also from Brooklyn raised with the mayor's done especially around early childhood education and says she's disappointed he's leaving the presidential race because the mayor is a people person he's just not a selfish person you know a lot of people cannot see but he did a lot for New York City Carl match it is glad the mayor can give all his attention back to the city output allied this handle home before you try to handle the world speaking outside Gracie mansion the mayor's historic residence on the East River the blood zero says new Yorkers know all the progress he's made I think every day new Yorkers get it I think the insiders like to talk about a certain way but every day new Yorkers see things happen all the time you were seeing a lot more over the next two years three months and eleven days that's how much time to Blasio has left before he's her limited out of office and he says he's determined to make that time count for NPR news I'm Brigid Bergen in New York. Stumptown is a nickname for Portland Oregon which in the mid nineteenth century was dotted with the stumps of trees where they had to clear land to expand. now it's a modern town that hose hipsters in shade grown coffee shippers the trouble private eye name decks in a new series on ABC ma'am. your vehicle. that's a fancy word for it. don't call me ma'am yeah what would you like sex my name is death tax I need to arrest you for what for getting beat up for fourteen unpaid parking tickets cobie Smulders plays to experience in Stumptown she's a former marine who drinks too much and not coffee owes to much and as a brother to care for cobie Smulders joins us now from NPR west thanks so much for being with us thank you for having me I do have to ask filming in Portland Sir do you have a favorite shade grown coffee. you know what's hilarious is I quit drinking coffee. oh my gosh I know right all the time in Portland my guy and now it seems wrong but it's it's not working for me anymore all enjoy like a cappuccino every now and then but I'm not linked to any particular plans course you're also familiar to a lot of people well from a lot of things but I was thinking of Murray hill in the Avengers yes but Texas no superhero issue. no now in fact you know the trouble she finds herself in it the trouble finds her she's not looking for any trouble but she does find yourself in some pretty sticky situations she says a war ended for me twelve years ago but clearly it hasn't yes and she's she's suffering from PTSD quite severely she experienced some trauma overseas and is currently living with the ramifications of that she's choosing not to seek any treatment so it will flare up in her life and is really holding her back from really living felt life she's self medicating I think it's fair to say yes you self medicating with sex with alcohol with gambling with a lot of things in is is really not looking at herself clearly but with all that in mind she's also a good person she's very honorable she takes care of her brother and his his soul guardian it's really her in this boy against the world and on one hand she is spinning out of control but on the other hand she's trying to be grounded and help those around her in her life yeah let me get you to talk about her brother he seem to have special needs yes he has down syndrome and he's about twenty years old in our show we're getting into this season actually sort of the history of their family and why she is the sole guardian what happened to their parents but yeah she's she's tied to a brother you know she has to be there to help him but at the same time I really believe that the tethering that's involved here between these two is also keeping her grounded because if she didn't have this responsibility who knows where this woman would be she can't resolve her personal challenges and find happiness too soon no because she's got a whole season yes and it's a funny thing because I'm starting the press and there's a lot of conversations about that this love triangle I might the show is not going to have a love triangle because this is a woman who's just not able to have any kind of emotional relationship you know. this is a woman who is only in for one night stands and nothing complicated and nothing that's gonna go too deep so it's wonderful quite frankly to play a woman who isn't tied to a relationship on a show it's it's kind of fantastic. you play a character there's now all over the internet. Elizabeth the perpetuity of robin sparkles from our. gosh specifically the robin sparkles version of of that character yes making robin a Canadian pop star in the eighties was an idea that was lofted to me by our craters in the second season I believe. I was nervous about it certainly at first because I'm not a singer but it it is a testament to how creative they were on that show because when you sign up to do a sitcom you kind of think you're going to be doing the same jokes in the character can get a little bit stagnant and they were never they never did that and and that's an example and so we recorded three songs shot three music videos and it just became this this running joke. you know people ask me to sing the songs all the time so. yeah. it depends on you know where we are but I look forward on karaoke less sometimes that's like the best thing that's come out of this is sometimes you're to dive bar and it happens to be on on the list and that's pretty exciting I would like to ask you about a small film you did a few years ago called unexpected yes probably a film I went most aggressively after in my lifetime and I play Chicago high school teacher and I get pregnant someone accidentally is not planned and wonder for students one for high school students in the tenth grade gets pregnant the same time so it follows the journeys of these two women who are on similar paths but come from very different backgrounds and I was actually pregnant during the shooting of the film which is an amazing coincidence. but it was a very special one to me and it meant a lot to like seeing in the end of the. the Avengers and how I met your mother and then also a project like an expect. first of all listen I mean I'll I'll take whatever comes my way I'd like to if it's possible choose projects that are challenging not only in terms of how they're shot in the scale but also character wise it is definitely a trip to jump from shooting on an Avengers film a Marvel film to a small movie you know where we've got fourteen days to shoot the whole thing so I like a challenge I think I'm somebody who likes to constantly put themselves in tricky situations and see how I do cobie Smulders stars in ABC's new series Stumptown. is on Wednesday thanks so much for being with us thank you so much for having me was lovely talking with you. there's no business like show business as you may have heard performers get tepid response from an audience say they died on stage those are lame in the aisles say they killed killed a new book pictures words to heart the show will go on by Jeff Abraham a PR executive in comedy historian and producer bird Kerns tells the stories of actors comedians classical musicians conductors dancers singers and circus stars who died on stage or soon thereafter for real Jeff Abraham and Burt Kearns joined us from NPR west thanks so much for being with us thank you thanks for having us hi I learned from your book is not always a good thing to say is there a doctor in the house especially if you're a comedian there's been several instances where a comedian has collapsed onstage for instance the great said James from the British carry on films was in a comic play he sat down on the couch lean back and began to snore and the other people in the cast realized something was wrong and they said is there a doctor in the house which got a usual after the audience and finally a doctor came up onto the stage and he was laughing as well until he realized what happened the most famous case of this is of course the nutritionist and the longevity expert who died of a heart attack during a taping of the Dick Cavett show when Cather realizing his guest J. I. Rodale when he realized rodeo was in trouble cabinet look to the audience and said is there a and X. told us he caught himself because he knew that if he said is there a doctor in the house he get a laugh so we just did what he was going to say instead is there skews me might there be a doctor here. it was too late. the great Jackie Wilson best known for his hit lonely tear. number nineteen seventy five he was singing a very poignant line in the song. his famous song lonely teardrops is performing at the Latin casino outside Philadelphia during a Dick Clark rock and roll revival show and I got to the point where he said my car used price. right. my heart my heart fell over backwards with apparently a heart attack smacked his head on the stage floor which triggered a stroke and Jackie Wilson for the next eight years was in and out of commerce before he died no my work. the will and the family get their own chapter in your book they.
