"This means that Donald Trump will be the forty fifth president of the United States. This is your life. Now, this is our election. Now, this is us. This is our country. It's real. Hi and welcome back to the forty fifth rob here and I'm here with my colleague Coho Susan Simpson Hey Susan Hey Arabia how you doing? Hanging in their house, the pandemic going on your end. I mean it is apparently still raging. I nobody gives a shit. The world is still burning. And we are just like outpacing I. Think so many other countries in the world on curbing this is it's yeah. My life continues to go on everybody I know all my friends family, they continued to quarantine and be good. But seriously man I've invited I've been invited to a wedding las week I've been invited a dinner in last weekend. I'm like dinner I what? So a dent like a Jesus look at somebody's house our neighbors and I was like, yeah, I'm not really covered auto just drop off food I was like okay. But I think people are just fatigued and are wanting to get back to their lives and a lot of them are doing. It is weird sometimes when you see aspects of life are people who are living their lives it was not Kobe times and it is it is hard to keep up the distancing keep up your routines of isolation when you realize that some out, there are not and like well, what's the point? Why should we do this now? Appoint of course. You when your. Sick but it it's such. A will be the last one. Standing Susan. It's the slowest driver I go to a crowded a grocery store for the first time in probably months the other day I came out like feeling like I had a cough and a sore throat already habits already happened. Well I mean to be honest I gotta I gotta get groceries like every four days with the amount of milk. My kid goes through but we go I, feel pretty safe I. Mean like the stores are mostly you know it's like at ten percent capacity and everybody's wearing a mask and staying the heck apart. Stores like that and spills. Okay. Not Apparently about your stores in general with this one was like not almost normal times crowded. It was definitely sort of like a freak out moment 'cause I hadn't seen that so long. And no masking are masking. There were there was masking had that going for? All right. There's a little bit of a barrier artless. Let's talk about where we are right now with numbers as of this morning Joe Johns Hopkins reporting, we are at one, hundred, seventy, seven, thousand, five, hundred, thirty, six, US deaths, which by the way is twenty percent of the reported global death like. Count. We account for twenty percent of it. We are four percent of the world's population. Where at five point seven, five, million positive cases as you are aware in the last couple of weeks school sorted opening universities started opening I have two friends just over the weekend. told me that they dropped their sons off at their dorms I'm like. What are you doing? But I guess everybody's like I guess we're just GONNA end up coming back soon and spreading our. Aspirin exactly spreading out further. University of Alabama just reported this morning that they've had five hundred sixty cases on campus. I think they've been open for like a week differ some time. Exactly. I mean, there's and I guess my question is, what do you do those students? Do you quarantine them on the campus of because that seems to be the only way to make sure it doesn't spread into every other part of the country most likely they travel home and then hopefully quarantine at home but in many cases probably don't. Travel itself is to make things. Ogling. Hopefully they're driving. It's I I feel like we're just at the beginning of a just like the worst part of twenty twenty because. I feel cases would explode because of all the school stuff and then the election and it's I I'm really dreading the rest of this year. So here's the good news mask. Wearing the data continues to come in and show that it is effective at it can have a very significant reduction in the spread of the virus. It's not foolproof course at other and save everyone can't stop it. For good but it does extremely effective There was a report out of South Korea where a woman had gone in to a starbucks who was infected and something like twenty seven patrons also got. The four. BREESE's working there were wearing masks and did not get it. You're kidding me the patrons around her twenty. Some people acted I was pretty sharp sharp by that by itself but the good news is at least like sneeze on everybody's. Transition. Like waltzing around just like sitting on thinking opera yeah. And the size to rally the to the episode. Stay was the US to hairstylists to Salt Lake between them over one hundred patients. But but they wore masks sniping Colin positive none none of their customers. Got It. So I do think if we can get mask-wearing up to be like ninety five percent prevalent It. Will make a real dent in this and it would make a flu season less the possible nightmare might be well, this administration is not going to mandate however Joe Biden in his speech. Last week of the DNC did say that he would he would enact a national. Mandate, to wear masks so Yeah, I'm not sure how it's GonNa enforce that. But like I I wonder I appreciate the sentiment thinks that could by itself make a difference but in terms actually forcing it not so much. I mean he actually this I mean trump uses his you know he threatened states with funding this and that why couldn't a Democratic president the same like if governors and mayors and say, if you nod enforce this, then we're going to withhold federal funding. For X., Y..

"This means that Donald Trump will be the forty fifth president of the United States. This is your life now. This is our election now. This is US. This is our country. It's real hi and welcome back to the forty fifth rob here and I'm doing with my brilliant coho Susan Simpson Casey's Ravioli. You sound very cheerful today. Do is hunt cheerful. No not at all. I am literally. I think I've consuming like I can't stop. I've been stressed eating all day and it is about ten. Pm and right before we jumped on. I made myself a huge sandwich. There's absolutely no reason for it other than it's Super Tuesday and I'm a little bit super pissed. Things are not working the way I wanted them to but yes so. I know you've been working on some stuff but I'm sure you're following along. I actually have not been. This is my first update on what's going on really okay. Well you know the last couple of days you had pete drop out include a drop out and move their vote totally aware of all that they endorsed. Biden. I don't know that's what's done it but Biden is coming out really strong. I mean he wants Carolina but he seems to be leading in California I believe in I mean Virginia. He won I think Massachusetts. They're calling for Bernie but Biden is really turned some stuff around and you know Warren is nowhere to be seen yet. So but the nights young I guess in a way and California takes forever to count. So let's see but it just feels like There's a lot of like she just kind of raced like it just seems like it's a two way too and Bloomberg one American Samoa so good for him. Five hundred million dollars well spent and that's about it so where we are. I'm not you know I'm not. I'm dislike well okay. I don't know okay. Let me ask you this. We've talked before about like trump's you know cognitive issues sometimes. It seems like I've been. I've been feeling more that would biden to lately. Have you felt that at all? In any of his like the last few weeks I feel like it is a travesty that are leading candidates on both sides are all men in their seventies. Trump is now the youngest man and tire. Damn raise right. Which is I mean that. That by itself is alarming. Oh you mean. He's not the older. Well here's the thing. Yeah Oh he's the he's youngest. Okay Warne is younger but yeah you're right. I mean like in terms of who the front runners are between Biden and Bernie. I mean what what what my question for. The voters who are voting for either one of them is do see any real and you want to vote for a president you think is going to be able to to do terms gonna be able to get reelected and four years is not going to be a lame duck one term president first time around. I don't know Biden running two terms or Bernie But I also have seen online suggest. It's a more consequential. Vp Dick Pic than it usually is right right. It is so maybe pick my like my mind onto on some of this but let's see how it goes There's all kinds of names in the air and I wish I it'd be great if they just announced now. I think that could make a big difference in how people vote but anyway look Biden's doing well. I'm excited to have the return of the Brisbane. This Gatien that's exactly what's going to happen tomorrow morning very early. Anything is this okay. Look it's Super Tuesday but I live in Maryland. You know when our primary is Susan famous. Dc's like J. April twenty eight students. I mean none of this makes sense to me but anyway screwed up and every four years realized this and yet every four years would you would again. We do it again all right now. My concern my concern was yesterday. There was an extremely unusual I don't WanNa say unprecedented by can't recall anything like it where there was a statement by both the Intel and our law enforcement agencies State Department Joint Statement for all agencies putting out a kind of like not dire alarmed but a very stern like all voters be aware beat alert for an actress. Try and interfere in our election. They'll do their best to undermine your trust in our election system which to me seems to indicate there was some kind of specific threat or concern that motivated. This wouldn't come out of nowhere. I wouldn't think I totally missed it. I have not seen anywhere social media. Same time trump was like their rigging elections Bernie Sanders. So maybe that got lost in the noise but I was. I mean that was enough to kind of wonder like is there. Is there an actual specific threat? They're they're preempting here expecting to happen. What kind of threat we talking about? If you're warning voters like what are what are you like if there's like a direct attack on let's say like voting machines electronic hanky-panky voters can't do nothing about that. So what I'm saying is. What are you asking? Voters look for is what I'm trying to figure out. They're not asking voters lookout for anything so much as asking voters to have faith in the system. They're they're trying to say look. Someone's going to try and do something. We're not going to specify what that's going to them but don't doubt it. Oh Yeah it's it's an ineffective way of responding to the threat like either. I mean it's a tough place to be because you don't want to make things worse by also. Well here's thing I'd be like well I'm just going to go and vote and totally trust the system. And now you're telling me something's going to happen like maybe if you didn't tell me. I might not be worried. Weird being a threat. They're warning against is trump like trump's statements are exactly the threat. They're warning against trump is undermining trust in the elections by trying to claim Bernie Sanders. Being you know having the election rigged against him are somehow things are being done to cause him to lose so like the threat. They're concerned about is exactly the stuff. Trump is tweeting. We all say maybe after they're worried about on one hand you can have that on other hand. What at this is like a long game this Bagel set up with a start like planting the seeds and if trump loses they can say note null and void. It was like electoral interference. It was four actors. It was a war on our elections. Has I feel like you know we know. He's not going to concede if he loses so the way he would do sanders being like. I've had things rigged against him. Of course it's GonNa claim he's having a raid against him. Yeah so I decided I trust nothing now. Not even like a statement like that so. I don't know you were giving into the foreign interference. I guess I am but look look what's happening can. Can we talk a little bit about? I mean just look at the response to Corona virus. And I'm talking about the administration's response the different agencies response all why should we have faith in any of these agencies at this point? I mean everything has become politicized. Well let's like that. I don't think the objection is that things are being politicized because this. This is a political issue. I mean this is something that the government is designed to respond to and only the government can respond to effectively so by. Daljit is a political issue. No just because the government response to some Public Health Issue. I see this as a political issue at all. I don't think should matter but there's a political issue it has to be. It is the government's responsibility to do this. How they handle. It is inherently political. Now trying to score. That's one way to look at it. But then the whole hoax thing which we can talk about the way trump. Okay but let's get into. Let's get into corona virus says. We're we're at hurry all right. Okay all right. Let's start here update so past few days we are currently in the early escalation face We now have nine confirmed deaths from corona virus. We all in Seattle. If you listen to pence's a briefing What you couldn't listen to the recording anyway You would think that they were seventy seven. People infected confirmed virus infections in the US But we know for a fact that the lease one hundred fifteen confirmed infections we know for the trackers have one hundred fifteen plus cases confer. Okay okay so there are. Data was out of date. But the thing is we know for a fact. There are many many many more things because we have nine deaths and yeah even at the worst possible estimates of its Pataudi rate in like twenty percent. Fifteen percent right well right now. The World World Health Organization. I think today raised that rate to three point four percent. It was a two percent last week when we talked three three point. Four percent now fatality rate which is pretty alarming and yet we're not. We're not GONNA know. The tally rate yet is too soon. The numbers sure wants to typically can't about the point is so it doesn't matter we know what's high enough to be terrifying but we also know it's manageable. I mean we know like look like Singapore and South Korea. They have a what the tolerate is definitely under one percent much much less than that. Actually I think maybe even zero point one or two deaths with like a hundred cases or something either. Way Point being we know coronavirus doesn't have to be apostrophe. We know that governments are actively can do so on the other hand we also know that if it goes unchecked You can get some pretty horrifying situations pretty fast like we're seeing in Iran right now right and one of the ways. It's getting unchecked. Here is the fact that we are at a complete loss for like. We have no testing ability. It seems like You in South Korea. They're testing ten thousand people a day or getting tested to see if they virus in the United States. I can't I have. I spent an hour trying to figure this out. I can't even figure out how people can get tested in fact that this one woman tweeted a really interesting one whole tweet about her personal experience that I think It really illustrates. Kinda like the issue in a way that like even news stories. Don't so this is a woman who lives in Seattle. She said she has all the symptoms of Karma virus and a history of chronic bronchitis. So she already has a compromised immune system. She already has underlying issues. She says she works in a physical therapy clinic with patients. Were OVER SIXTY FIVE YEARS. Old and a lot of them have chronic illness. Imagine if she has coronavirus and she's working these patients right. She says you WANNA be responsible. Good tested this is how it went. She says now Her twitter handled by the way is at into underscore the underscore brush. If you WANNA look it up yourself she says she called the krona hotline the CDC. I guess it's the. Cdc Hotline was on hold for forty minutes gave up then typically website at Washington state public health websites. They said go see a primary care doctor. Dr But no information on how to get tested. She calls him doctors. They said they have no idea where she'd get tested. That cheap should try to go to the ER maybe she called the Er Er said no idea caller hospital. She called the hospital that it don't have any test then. Transfer back to the corona virus hotline. And then she finally got through now the lady on the hotline said. Here's the thing we're not testing people like you were testing people who fall within a specific category. They've been out of the country in the last fourteen days or they've had contact with one of the few people who have recently been tested positive and that's it so basically until she gets what she thinks is until she gets so sick that she has to be hospitalized. And then maybe it'll tester and by then I mean she's self quarantines or she spread it to who knows. How many people do you think it's fair to say that women? No.
