"Goodness Willa cours this year is not. The best that I've experienced. I'm Robert. G. Hecker Rooney and jam I couldn't agree more I'm cody Johnston Dali guys I think it's going pretty well, I'm Katie stall. That is. Well I guess we should spend the next hour or so discussing whether or not this year's very good or not. Since clearly, that question hasn't been answered by the title of the show Crappy that quick poll quick poll in the chat goodyear no less than good. Yeah. In like if it like if it's good re tweet if it's not. So. Let's get onto the actual subject of the episode that we're doing today. So that today we'll have an episode. Love having episodes. Don't we folks? K. Katie Cody. What do you? How do you? What's your opinion on Q. It on? Jury still out I think so. I. Think it's dangerous and said. Yeah, those are those are the two words I would use. I would if I had to pick to try to make some joke but no dangerous and sad and Disturbing and depressing. Yeah, all of the above. L. Hard to completely understand. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's very complicated and very frightening and very, very dangerous and. I think what's what's something that I think I want to highlight is that it took a long time for everybody in like the mainstream media to start to get on the same page about number one in on being worth talking about a number to the fact that actually this is a very important story. Today our guest is somebody who for the last like I. Don't know since I've known her which is close to four years. Now has been like repeatedly yelling at the entire world to please pay attention to what the hell is happening with on because it's important and dangerous and terrifying, and she was yelling about that years ago when the only people who were close to the mainstream and talking about Q. on would just make fun of it. And now that there's twenty people who might wind up in Congress who are tied to it one way or the other. She's she's still trying to warn people. This is Sarah hightower. Welcome to the show. How are you Sir Hightower? Voltron of sadness and compassion and. Yeah you did tell me. and would you what? Let's let's let's go back in time a little bit Sarah. When did you realize? Because obviously Cunanan start tapping in this weird like it's a, it's a four Chan thing where like people that drop start going up and this like weird little community starts to form at what point were you like? This is going to be a problem because the Internet has all sorts of weird little communities and most of them don't wind up potentially putting twenty people in Congress. So at what point were you like? This this is an issue. Mid To late twenty eighteen. Shortly I think after the own rikio executions so that would have been a little bit after July a c. you had the visibility of trump rally. You've had the Redan standoff and I had a friend I knew in real life who came to ask me me for help because her her parents were talking to her anymore. They were watching youtube videos about on. In its I think you didn't just mention how Rico for for no reason there you've drawn a number of comparisons between in for folks who are listening we covered this in behind the bastards or anything but. I guess a brief overview of own Shimrikyo is that they were kind of a an apocalyptic Colt that gained an enormous amount of power including some political power. In Japan, made some very dangerous weapons carried out a number of attacks including the sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway. That'd be kind of the the the barest cliff's notes you have mentioned repeatedly a lot of similarities you see between Alma and Cuban on you WanNa talk a little bit about that. Yet. But first of all it's important to correct you. They? They had some people who'd sort of infiltrated like police departments and things like that. But when they ran a candidates for the house elections so the Japanese Congress elections in Nineteen Ninety they lost all twenty five people lost obviously. So Emma. His kyan thirty doing better. Job Queue. But, a, let's see. Now. I'm very concerned. But you're asking about this is that I see in between like In Cunanan okay people, there's the Celtic no you obviously and the fact that they're they're both. Awesome. Deal. With happy high demand groups the very cult very absolutist in major and at the core. Of the radical belief system like when you really start to peel back at, you may start to dig through it. It sites very antisemitic. Lansing. anti-semitic carrots. Kabul giddy stay the swamp the aluminum naughty them. Just pretend up at the triple brackets indicate or come from. So yeah no, it's the there are a lot of similarities you don't have to have a physical compound to be a call to. And you don't have to have really a cult leader like I think there's a lot of folks who don't understand it. Well, who place a lot of importance on figuring out who Q. is and I guess maybe there was a point at which that would have mattered. But I honestly don't even know if that's true and it certainly doesn't matter now I think it does you didn't get to in terms of actually stopping it. What is the what would be the value of like figuring out who this guy is? I mean lady her whatever the Guy Posts. Into Yeah the individuals because it seems like it's more than one of them certainly. I mean the theory, the working during the one that I personally scribe to is that it's changed hands of the past years and if you look at who's running eight coon. It's a person. Doing you now, but we'll get into that later on our concern about that but you're asking what the value might be in actually knowing. Well in. Terms of action. What would have profiled cult leader? You don't want to get my head. I think there might be a use doing that for for the sake of like a good. But do you think that's actually going to help in taking in sleight Indira? This this situation and actually like like dealing with the Colt itself like at this point nobody's GonNa believe you. If you say that the that like nobody who's affected by Q. I don't think would believe you if you like you. You point this person did it or this person do like from a perspective of making this less dangerous right now? You're right about that. But I still think that there's there value. Intriguing out who has posted as to in just how this they grew who's controlling it now because I mean. We're on the outside Meka work to do..

"Comes a time in the life of every podcast or when he has to introduce the show that he's doing and this is that moment for me. Robert hosts of behind the bastards. Podcast where we talk about terrible people. Normally this is a show where we give a detailed history of an awful person life but today we're doing something special today due to the massive outrageous clamoring popular demand. We are continuing with our investigation into true allegiance the fictional novel. Debut of one benefit. Shapiro here with me today to talk about this. This opus are Mike. Hosts Cody Johnston and Katie stole. Hello are you doing today up doing? Hello thrilled to be funny Out there in Radio Thailand. I took a more serious tact with the INTRO. Because I think it's important to really set the tone of the gravity that that this book demands from the reader. Oh Yeah we're serious people delving into a very serious book by a very serious person. You've covered a lot of serious serious bad guys in your time on the show but I don't think there's anything more serious than what we're about to embark on no no and I think that You know I've I've read a lot of about human conflict in war books by people like Kurt Vonnegut. Who would would would would experienced at Kurt. Vonnegut half to write about any of this stuff. He survived a bombing or something. Ben Shapiro is is the man that I wanna hear talk about the serious issues because I know when Ben Talks About for example the war in Afghanistan Or the crack trade in Detroit Michigan. Then he is writing from a position of deep personal understanding. What else can and authority exactly. Exact and empathy and empathy he He's had a lot of heroin experiences getting ratio online. So he has you know getting ratio online was his Afghanistan and Afghanistan was the war that he suggested. People kill children in He did that when he was eighteen. Someone let him wrote a fucking column where he said. Why do we care about civilian casualties in Afghanistan? So I'm very excited to see where this goes precocious kids. Yeah they say the wildest thing we talked I think a tiny bit about Lee Lavar who is the one of the two villains? The two villains of the of the of Ben Shapiro's book the President Who wants everybody to have a job? And and that makes the president to Nazi and then of course there's leave on Who IS The black character and also of course a crack trading gang dealer. Oh is is the president and it's not black. No no he's not no. That wasn't into sneaky guy seat with fiction. Coney you you got a separate some things you have a black president who you don't like entrust you separate him into a white president you don't like entrust and crack dealer in Detroit Yeah. The duality of man basic storytelling roles. Classic Storytelling Rules Chekhov's racism. Okay so now we hope we. I noted that Vons Chapter First Chapter opens up with Detroit was a Shithole but it was his shit hole. So you know that right away. You're coming from the perspective of somebody who understands the place he's talking about. Don't like the Detroit shades. It's going to put it out there. Don't like it now. Of course. Leon's neighborhood includes eight mile road because Shapiro Safa Movie. Eight mile and literally. The only thing he knows about Detroit is that includes eight mile road ended. Its does not have as much money as other places. Oh Oh yeah right soundtrack. I'm I'm in has memorized all the words to lose yourself. Yes yes yes it in the mirror. Yeah that's Ben Shapiro has like when he I I can imagine him getting up in the morning and lake drinking a bunch of raw eggs and like putting on like a a hoodie asleep loose hoodie and my going out to hit a boxing bags like that song starts to really pump and then he punches at once and he starts crying because he's hurt his little I I see it punching it and it swings back and hits him. You're right maybe both things happen One of the two. Yeah quote from any the stores dotting. Eight Mile Road itself formed steady depressing pattern liquor store. Auto parts store burned out. Boarded UP SHOP SALON REPEAT AD infinitum every once in a while an auto latte broke up the monotony or perhaps a music store but that was about it. Would it would open up. In one of the lease police streets in America leave on wood and of course the show is opened up. Sells crack Yeah well it tells crap that's get your. It's a barber shop. Where only filled with older black men and barbershop? You say yeah. Yeah Yeah Oh yeah. And then the back room where he sells crack. I'm just waiting for like him to like I have expected when he's like. I'm from Detroit. I live in Harlem in Compton in Detroit. Yes yes he lives in the neighborhood of Compton Detroit. Yeah Jesus Ben Okay. So there's a little line here about sincere he. On and his crew shuttled crack. Cocaine dragged gone out of style in the mid ninety s thanks to the federal. Crackdown on crack dealers. Black politicians had been the big advocates of putting crack dealers on a different footing than powder cocaine dealer at the time. Nobody wanted to deal crack anymore. But von care due to a select population so number one. That's actually just just not true. The evidence suggests that a lot of white people stop doing crack so much as that crack is really really toxic on your body and younger people watched what it did to older people to people who were older than them to their older brothers and stuff and we're like. Nah I don't want that Because that's has more of an impact. Just throw people in prison. But I don't expect them to have that take on things so I did. Yeah we're about a page and a half to the Bronx chapter when been describes how big von is at six foot three two hundred twenty pounds of shredded muscle leave on cut an imposing figure walking into other stories on the block. The immediately went quiet when he came in when he told them he'd graduated from the U. Of Him they got even quieter. This kid was brutal and smart. They knew I'm just that's excellent. That's excellent I'm I'm reminded of Weirdly the word articulate for some reason comes to. Yeah Oh boy. Here's Al Sharpton Not Al Sharpton. He's the Reverend Jim Crawford. But he's Al Sharpton Odd. Yeah Yeah. He's in. He's in Leon's barbershop to talk to him about a deal. Yeah okay so he meets with this Al Sharpton character and it's clear that like the Al Sharpton character wants to partner with him on some sort of complicated and cutting political scheme Because of course that's what all of the black leaders in America have secret connections to crack dealers in WanNa work with them on. Yeah and then we get to a really a real fun moment here so leave on in. This guy are talking. Leave on quote Shakespeare. He says there is nothing either. Good or bad but thinking makes it so and of course Out The al Sharpton standing in doesn't recognize this quote and so leave on at the educated brutal guy says it Shakespeare. It means you'll learn to trust me. And then the Al Sharpton Guy Laughs and says quoting or quoting dead Honky. You'll be useful yet. Ooh Yeah so that's day think it's good to yeah that's fun. I was just listening and nodding. That's good Ben's white so it's okay for him to write the word Honky. Yeah and I'm I'm not sure if this is bad formatting or just been is bad at writing a book but in the chapter that Vons Lebron's chapter right and what you do if you're writing a book where every chapter takes the perspective of a different character you expect. Each of those chapters will be about a different like from the perspective of that character but midway through this chapter actually right after the line quoting dead. Honky as you might be useful yet. We switched perspective without switching chapters to a completely different character of a local cop named Ricky O'Sullivan. Yeah that's cool. Yeah writing and bad formatting. Yeah yeah so he's hanging out at an abandoned Packard plant That looks like something out of mad. Max been been describes it Which is a known drug? Hang out. So that's why he's he's hanging out there as a cop and I think he's about to shoot a black kit. That's the feeling I get your. He gets a ten thirty one in progress. Sign and he rolls over had pushed. Its way through the cement.

"The prompt. You guys when Defense Attorney Clark. Matthews began his opening statement. He admitted his client cody. Johnston had done some strange things but murderer or as it's called in deliberate homicide he said that was absurd. Your task is determine whether they've proven you beyond a reasonable doubt. Cody deliberately killed Nicole. I Codex responsibility to give you this explanation of why she's missing because he can't do it. If Matthews at his fellow council Casey more both of whom declined datelines request for an interview could convince even one of the jurors of reasonable doubt cody. Johnston would walk out of this room. A Freeman Mathews. You may begin when you're out the first witness the defense called would be. It's only witness move. That shocked everyone at the prosecution table. I would bet my house that he wasn't going to take this and but cody did and portrayed himself as a hardworking father who bought Nicola home taking her to doctors appointments and loved her children as his own. He told the jury. He was an honorable man who despite dating amber in the fall of two thousand twelve. Did the right thing when Nicole claimed she was having his baby broke up with her and I went back Nicole. Kid- eventually confirmed that Nicole that she was not back told her that I loved her but couldn't listen. We could do this That carry on Long Island that for so for that long and stick to it. And Cody said. The pregnancy wasn't the only thing that call was lying about. He said she was also lying to herself. It turned out that over the years. Nicole had become addicted to painkillers. She was making trips to a Methadone clinic every two weeks to deal with her addiction treatment center and just get smell. Although prosecutors said medical records showed McColl had been cleaned from narcotics or any non prescription drugs for ten months prior to her disappearance. Cody claimed Nicole's refusal to go into treatment was the reason they broke up just before Valentine's Day he said she'd fallen off the wagon. You discuss with her and a need for her. Go to sleep yes did. She agree to that. She told me that for. She said she wouldn't do it because of her kids. Yes I made the decision it was we couldn't we couldn't go on. There was a complication. He said that home he bought for Nicole. And despite that sign sales agreement found in the SAFE CODY CLAIMED. Nicole had never paid him for the hall. And you believed you still own the house. It was clear from texts sympa amber that she wanted cody to get Nicole out of the house. As part of the break-up the morning of Valentine's Day Cudi said he woke up in a camper at his workplace and the poll called him and started yelling at him because Cudi admitted he'd had the place padlocked got concerned all being left. I went towards my house. Cody drove to fairview. He admitted lying to investigators earlier when he claimed he never left work or her house. I find anybody there. I have my assumption ones that either. She had went to the store to cigarettes before she left or I didn't know she'd left to somebody. So are you saying when you went on to fairview? You didn't see Nicole off. And Cody said. It was another childish act to enlist the help of his friend. Bill to move Nicole's expedition sixty miles away to the town of poplar. I was behaving badly. I was I was being very childish and very addictive. I figured I would move her car. I wouldn't drop it off and she would call later on pilots. Say there's your car get your stuff home. Cudi insist that he was never looking for a barrel large enough to put a body in only a small grease barrel to wash tools in and he said he knew the lies. He told especially enlisting his friend to send a message from the Coles. Facebook account did not make him look. Good I will scare so. I thought it'd be herbal thing. I'd get left alone and she would come back. How do you feel about that? There were terrible. Why should people believe he Well I guess the only thing I can say is that I've had Too Shy for years run. I'm here for my day in court to killing the Kovar before cudi. Johnston could leave the stand. There was one more attorney waiting to question him prosecutor Brandt light even though I never thought he would testify. I had prepared hundreds of questions for him anyway. This was all about you getting away with murder crap. No Sir no body no case correct. I didn't really care what his answer was. I knew he was going to say no after dumping Nicole vehicle after hiding her body. You didn't spend the weekend with amber so you can get destroyed on. Sorry no no I did. Not Number Body yes. I spent the weekend number as able to outline my case. Really make my first closing argument to the jury and day. Get Him upset just by cross examined by crossing him. You're hoping this jury gives you rate because you've successfully ever bought correct noser. The prosecution had had its shot with. Cody Johnston it would soon be our coming up you startling confrontation and the verdict will there be justice for Nicole..

"The Richland County Law and Justice Center in Sydney was to be the site. Were a jury will decide if Johnston had murdered Nicole Waller or maybe not. Because before cody Johnston's trial started prosecutor. Brent light did this reluctantly. We offered him a deal. We were certainly prepared to go to trial. But you didn't have a body. We didn't have a body and the family wanted the body. The states offered a cody. Johnston give up. Nicole's body plead guilty and receive eighty years in prison. What was in it? For CODY NO LIFE. Sentence and possible parole. After seventeen years. I looked at it as a window for him if he ever wanted to get out. This was his one and only opportunity. And the response from Cody's attorneys. Absolutely not. We're GONNA try. We're going to trial which was fine with me. Fine he says but it came with a cost prosecutor. Light was suffering from lung cancer. He'd been going through chemotherapy alongside state investigator and fellow cancer patient. Mark Elliott. Now light made a life threatening decision three weeks before try stopped treatment. I have trouble believing that your doctors thought Great Idea No. They didn't think it was a great idea. But I knew that to do those sixteen to eighteen hour days during trial. I needed to have energy. So you're risking your own life to do that. I wasn't going to let this cancer change. I made such a commitment to the family that I wasn't going to let them down to be safe. In cases health was compromised and he couldn't continue the prosecutor brought into assistance. Joel Thompson. An Ollie Olsen. Who understood the task ahead? I think there was an awareness. You feel like the average person on the street is going to say. How can you prosecute a case without a body but the average people in the street? That's who's on your jury that was big challenge for me like we don't have any of these traditional things that people expect in a homicide case forensics DNA physical evidence and is that glaring omission. Going to be something that the jury says. That is reasonable doubt by October. Two Thousand Sixteen. When Cody Johnston's trial began it had been three and a half years since Nicole. Waller had vanished for all but a few months of that time. Cody had been a freeman out on bond at trial. His wife amber was in the front row accompanied by their newborn son. That was a shock. I did not know about the baby and at the same time it's anger because here he'd been out living his life and my sister is not out there living her life enjoying this week. We're going to take you back to Valentine's Day. Two thousand thirteen that Valentine's Day prosecutors argued was the final day of Nichols Life. It was the last day of the woman her sister called the Queen of texting had used her phone since then they said Nicole had left. No electronic trace spent no money using credit or debit cards and in today's world is somebody hasn't used any of those things. It can reasonably be presumed that they're no longer live exactly and perhaps most revealingly. The state argued never after that day had Nicole reached out to the three children. She loved so much she was. They argued undoubtedly dead today. Sorry ass out of your mind as he's which burn but how she killed and why prosecutors began their case by calling a former detective who's developed a groundbreaking software technology to accurately turn the route. A cell phone travels into something that looks like Google maps. He was able to basically show us is if we had a track on his car. Where Cody Johnston was on the morning of the verdict and where Cudi Johnston was the state. Argued was not where he claimed he'd been remember. Cody said he and Nicole were fighting so he spent the night before Valentine's Day in a camper in Sydney twelve miles away from his home when a coal was staying in fear view. Cudi said Nicole texted him at six fifty one. Am then called him around seven. But cody didn't WanNA talk. Why fine I shut my phone off bed. Eight o'clock I get up. I go on the shop but it turns out this map of the location of cody cell. Phone showed something else starting after that seven. Am phone call from the goal right after that. Phone call he leaves and he and he's head into fairview fear view back. Dakota's ounce where Nicole had been staying. Here's the map of state said that proved it so seven. Thirteen eastern see the device. Start TO MOVE TOWARDS. Sydney. There's seven eighteen just north of Sydney another one at seven twenty three on the way up to fairview to confront her. He calls her five six times. It wasn't her that was harassing him. It was him calling her because he was angry and getting more angry he went up there to confront her at seven twenty five. Am In fairview record. Showed Nicole texted her caregiver saying she was on her way back home. She's moments from getting into her car and going back to callous bill. He arrives at seven twenty six. According to the Cell Tower Analysis. Cody does what he does. And I think they had a horrible fight and I think the exploded whether he strangled her weather suffocated her. That's one of the things we don't know because we don't have the body the coors family and friends had always said Kuti was such a great guy and prosecutors agreed until they said he suddenly lost his cool and became so upset and so angry that he drove home and committed murder. The prosecutor said amber had nothing to do with the crime. They said her calls and texts. Cody those last week's may have helped light. The match that led to the killing. She was putting pressure days before Valentine's Day that he made a choice. It's either her or me. And he kept reassuring her that that she was the one that he just needed. Some time. I'm prosecutors argued not only to break up with Nicole but also to get her out of that home purchase for her over in callous bell. You think this is not about love. You think this is about money. Yeah I think by the time we get to February fourteenth. Love was kind of out the window then. He already seeing amber without Nicole knowing that this was simply about houses break-up GonNa go and who's going to get to home in fact that night before Valentine's Day Cudi was so angry in the coal that he had. This man plays a padlock on the home when the cool talk to her estranged husband Jason. On Valentine's Day morning she found out what Kodia done if at all did she react very upset so upset in fact prosecutors theorized that Nicole reminded cody in that seven. Am PHONE CALL. That he had sold her that home that she had a sales agreement in the safe showing she owned it not him to prosecutors. That's why cody exploded and drove over and days later showed up at her home to take that safe with the sales agreement. Still Inside Johnson had plenty of money. Why kill somebody over a mobile home? He had put a lot of money into the home he basically told. Amber we are going to get this back and I think that was just a vehicle started that angry argument that morning then he lost his cool and killed and after prosecutors said. What really proved cody? Johnston was a killer was what they called. But cover up that followed. Nicole's disappearance ask barrel by nine thirty that same morning. Cody had visited his friend. Bill sorta Bergh's house prosecutors said he was looking for a way to dispose of Nicole's body. What else did he ask you for? right back from popper poplar were cody had driven and dropped. Nicole's expedition sixty miles up the road and during that time from nine thirty am until about twelve thirty that afternoon cody. Johnston turned his cell phone off reappearing as this security video shows shortly after one pm how often turn his phone off for three hours in the middle of the day never. This was the only time he really went off the grid and finally prosecutors argued the cover up. Included cody asking friends to send that facebook message. Using Kohl's account the one that gave false hope to her friends and Family Wildlife. Two men turned him down another sent the message and said he felt terrible about what he'd done. After I did it I realized it was probably not the best thing. If he had her password why would he involve other people? Who could end up testifying against him? I don't think cody thought things through very well. I think the bottom line finally the prosecution rested but did the state had enough to convict cody. The defense was about to present. Its case it star witness cody. Johnston added coming up disarming strategy. I was behaving badly. I was being very childish. Very addictive for coding boldly owning his mistakes. Believe now I've had to shy four years. Doron and I'm here for my day in court. The surprising case he would make to the jury went. Dateline continues.

"State investigator Mark Hilliard has been called by many names over his two decade career as a Montana Lama. But a hit man. That was a new one. But that's exactly who. Bill SORTA bird thought. The agent was when Hilliard and F. B. I. Agent Craig. Overby showed up that sort of birds farmhouse a Hitman. Sorta bird believed had been hired by none other than SODERBERGH's friend Kuni Johnston Times twenty three hours agent now bill. Sorta BURKE THINK CODY JOHNSTON WANNA kill him in a series of interviews over the next couple of days. Detectives learned the answer. There's an old saying a good friend will help you move but a best friend will help you move a body. Investigators thought bill sort of fell somewhere in between nuts remember. Investigators had been looking for an explanation. For how Nicole's Ford expedition ended up. Sixty miles from cody. Johnston's house the morning of Valentine's Day. Two thousand thirteen a time. Cody claimed he was at work. Bill told investigators cody called him around eight. Am saying the Cole had run off with another man. It was basically again you know and Bill said the game came with a request. Meet on the road in his pickup bill. Drops out to the hallway. Sees cody driving? The Coles Ford Expedition and bill says I know something's not right. Does he know that's Nicole's car. He asked her to you about it again. Cody Silva I'm just playing a practical joke owner and I'm GONNA take her car out to the reservation and drop it off. I know y'all are more trusting out here in Montana than we are in the big city. I have trouble believing anybody would fall for that. No-one bill it doesn't surprise me that maybe he was just helping us out in a mischievous thing but not criminal thing so bill said he did. What cody asked and took off following the expedition? Not long after that is win. The two vehicles Nicole's expedition and bills pickup were tagged by that camera atop the high school in Culbertson Montana. A half hour later bill. Said cody stopped the expedition. Right were it was later. Found just a mile outside poplar. That reservation town with a violent reputation would cody of known about stab city believer car there. As a way of throwing people off the track he would but poplars not about place to a stranger for a random person driving through poplars very friendly place and cody probably didn't know that Bill said that. When cody jumped out of the Expedition Bill. Thought it was strange. That cody was wearing gloves and phone for bill. Notice that cody was carrying to sail fines and actually stopped at a small store on the reservation and he saw cody. Take the phone apart. Thrown a trash. Can the agents wondered? Did that second cell phone belonged in the coal and there was one more thing bill said. Cudi was looking for a barrel as can't believe the ask Romero and you just like one of steel barrels. Were three five gallon drums. Well I want one ain't got for investigators. Hearing that cody was looking for a barrel. Big enough to hold a body and one with a. Lid was confirmation. The Nicole was dead. And that cody had killed her. There has to be discussion about arresting him right then and there. We were talking to prosecutors. Has this was ongoing and prosecutors said despite the evidence agents had gathered this case still had one glaring hole. The calls body had not been found weeks then. Months passed without a work. Hard you know. Her Birthday was may twenty second. I decided to make my sister cupcake and I put a candle. I Make Ocean blowed out. What's the wish? She'll be six months after. Nicole vanished though. They were not yet ready to make an arrest. Authorities called together Nicole's family and Brooklyn News. They believed Nicole. Had been killed by cody. Her body placed in a barrel and hidden somewhere. That was devastating for somebody that said they lump. Somebody's so much. That's the way you get rid of them. That she's just like trashy GonNa put her in a barrel and as for camping. The news not only met her friend. The Coles very likely debt but it also met another of her best friends. Ambu was dating a suspected killer and not just dating just after the first anniversary of Nicole's disappearance in March two thousand. Fourteen cody amber seen here at a photo taken at a county fair. Got Engaged soon after they were married invited to the wedding thankfully I was in another friend of mine's wedding. It was heart wrenching because amber was my maid of honor. Where you're supposed to be. I would have been in her wedding. I would have been helping her. Celebrate her happily ever. After as Kuti and amber began their life together. Agent Hilliard who was raised on the prairies of eastern Montana was scouring the oilfields and areas for any trace of the call. I found some great holes plans out looking for her. They jumped into a few of them. How many times did you think maybe this is a few times? But the agents search hit a snag in the spring of two thousand fourteen when he fell into a hole he could never have foreseen. I was diagnosed with stage. Four melanoma cancer. You're young guy. It's got to be shocking. It was it was shocking for me was shocking for my family for more hilliard. Almost worse than the cancer was having to call Karma and tell her what this might mean for her sister's case and it kind of felt like the bottom was being dropped out again like we couldn't get a break. Bright wanted to reinsure. Reassure her that nobody's GonNa forget about Nicole if something happens to me. Somebody's GONNA run with. This sounds your worry. More about Nicole's family than you are about yourself they needed. Answers and unbelievably agent. Hilliard wasn't the only one wondering if he'd lived long of to find those answers. Because when Hilliard began his cancer treatments right alongside him was the prosecutor in charge of the case. The chief of the Attorney General's Prosecution Services Bureau Brandt light. Who Had Lung Cancer Unit Hilliard? We're getting chemo at the same time. Yeah we actually were at the same facility in an often talking about this case and and working on the case as we receive no treatment for these two law men and longtime friends how much time they had left on the job and on the earth was an unknown. All that might suggest that you would be sort of a hurry to file this case. But you didn't do that. You actually kind of slowed it down. I thought the longer that we put it off the better. It was for us in the back of our minds. We were hoping that maybe there'd be a hunter or somebody who would who would discover her body. That didn't happen. The goals family and friends were asked to be patient and as the two year anniversary of Nicole's disappearance came in wet. Her case was featured on datelines digital series missing in America. Still no body and no arrest. I'm thinking that you must have been frustrated at this point because after realizing that Nicole was never where her car was found. And having Mr Soderbergh say here's what happened. Prosecutors won't file a case and a lot of time goes by. It's difficult the problem goes back. There's no body and up until this point that there never been a prosecution of nobody homicide Montana until finally August two thousand fifteen two and a half years after Nicole's disappearance it would be a new development in cellphone tracking technology that would give the prosecutor. The confidence to give the go-ahead. An agent Hilliard back on the job in between cancer treatments. Got To snap the handcuffs on cody. Johnston ankle you're being arrested for for the murder of Nicole Waller. Dnc At work to me. It was time to see if Montana prosecutors could send a man to prison for the first time ever in a case without a body coming up the lack of body wasn't the only problem we don't have any of these traditional things that people expect forensics. Dna physical evidence but could groundbreaking software save the day for prosecutors. He was able to show us where Cody Johnston was on the very morning order. Hi everyone it's Chris Matthews. "The prairie winter of two thousand thirteen was cold bleak much like the mysterious disappearance of a thirty one year old mother of three named Nicole Waller. There were no answers written on the Montana Wind. Only her family left twisting in misery. You had a good night's sleep since this happened now finder Carmen clunk especially after. She received that facebook message from the calls account. The one that read. Everybody had a lovely evening. Not Coming home. Don't laugh at me. Sorry I let everybody down. That message seemed far more comforting than the other facts of the case. The Coles Ford expedition with all her stuff in it found on an Indian reservation on the edge of town once known as stabbed city. Fbi Agent Craig. Overby was studying those facts for someone just spurlock. In Montana's very unusual Nicole was was the type of person who was in cost communication with her family and friends and so for her. Basically just seesaw. Communications of something was not right. Investigators circled back to the two men in the coals. Life estranged husband Jason under boyfriend. Cody Johnston both men. Claimed they'd been at work the day she disappeared. She said well. There's nothing I can do. You know nothing's good enough for you. I'M GONNA I'm Lee is okay. So that's that's I'm going back to work in that. Videotape interview cody had given to police. He made no secret of how he and the Cole had been arguing for the forty eight hours before disappearance and that it was his decision to break up. I can't I can't do this could he? Would you be any reason why anyone would suspect that you had something to do with her? Being gone missing or anything actually hurts me and I'll try to help her no lassie. You know. No matter what she's ever done to me I love her and no. I wouldn't hurt her and I don't WanNa see hurt. In fact Nicole's family and friends felt that cody was perhaps the very best thing that ever happened to her. They had big plans. We all thought this was going to meet Nikki's happily ever after he always seemed to be able to calmness storm. If you will with Nikki which is a valuable talent to have around Nikki. She was a tornado sometimes. He promised her the Mon he was going to take care of her and he was doing. Just that cody made six figures of these mechanic in the oilfields and he wasn't shy about sharing it and the one person actually try to do everything for her helping her manage her money make good financial decisions for her and her children helped her get a bigger home. You'd become so close with Nicole's daughter. Ashland that with her own father out of the picture ashland started thinking of cody as a parent. My niece was always very protective of my sister. To shove out every boyfriend she ever had a knew that it was serious. When Ashland told me I was ready to call him. Dad The perfect right loves you. Love your kids everybody and there when you need them exactly. D- with all your faults and everything over here that she strained relationship with every person she's ever you know I've taken to every Arthur's point when I could've gone to research with like many couples they've been on and off but by late two thousand twelve just five months before Nicole disappeared. They were back together. Because we'll have choices paid money. The war would have been a rockefeller. My sister made a pretty big mistake. I think she was just desperate because she realized that cody was the best thing that ever happened to her. So she told cody she was pregnant even though she was not exactly. How did you persuade him? The Jewish pregnant she had taken my nieces ultrasound. Pictures cut it off like the date off and sent them to him than I know. It makes my sister right now. Look like a real winner by people have done worse to keep relationships. Here's the thing about lies. They work this one did until about a month before Nicole vanished finally it all broke down or she violate admitted to me about a month ago. She says I was pregnant. So that point you know we talked you know. I said this is just your need help and it was about that time. Cody told detectives that with his relationship with Nicole. Starting to crash another player would change the geometry of this story. It would triangle the night after cody said. Nicole left him and headed for home. Valentine's Day Thursday February fourteenth. There was someone else sleeping in. Cody'S BED COMING UP FOR INVESTIGATORS. What appears to be an eye popping clue in a very strange place. I think Craig said Hey mark there's something up on the ceiling could have been blood shirt..

"Minutes separating December sixth and December seventh two thousand fourteen. An unknown known person set off a chlorine gas bomb at Bid West for fast the largest furry convention in the United States. Nineteen people were hospitalized. The event could properly really be described as a terrorist attack. Folks could very well have been killed. The story was met with a mix of shock and ironic chuckles from tens of thousands of Internet users. People got for a day or so uh-huh in it faded into the background. The case was never solved and the culprit is at large today. In September of two thousand nineteen almost five years later basically a Nazi Camillo Yannopoulos registered to attend Midwest for fast. He publicized this immediately. In the event was a clear attempt by a well known troll to earn a few more precious hours of media spotlight by entangling himself in drama with community mainstream journalists love to cover with riot. GRINS on their faces convention organizers immediately rejected his application to attend and and banned him from the premises he threatened to show up anyway. Rumors began to circulate. that the proud boys be into which led to rumors that Antifa or perhaps furry ANTIFA would also be in attendance. It's somewhere in the middle of all this. The cast of worst year ever decided Midwest for was probably something we should attend. So we did myself Robert Evans and my colleagues Leagues Cody Johnston and Katie Stole. We talked to several members of the Phantom in their interviews revealed sprawling tale of a battle for the heart and soul of freedom against many of the same forces currently gently threatening to tear American society apart. This episode is not the story of that battle because Holy Shit. We really we really bit off more than we We bargained for and it's going to take Shaka's some time to get this together and force Danell at machete point to edit it but we put a little something together for you today. Tight everybody over. That's right as we've been going through through this we've been recording our thoughts and our experiences. It's a little bit of a peek behind the curtain. As to what's been happening here this weekend If you follow us on twitter after you've seen some posts about it but you know we we talk about our impressions and stuff that we've learned Experiences here yes as you said. Wow We poured through all of the interviews and documents and chat logs that we have And put together the final polished piece which will be released had a later date. Yeah hopefully a couple of weeks not too long from now you know good good good. There was a point at sometime yesterday where I was like. ooh This is going to take a little longer. I really came together and everything became clear. You're on what was going on and The story revealed itself. And it's a very interesting story that I think is relevant to everybody. A and We're excited to tell it. But in the meantime here's our experience and it's not does not very political. This is not a normal episode of worst year Robert. You'RE NOT GONNA learn much about American politics from this. I think it's it's fun. There's some funny moments If you if you enjoy us as people you might enjoy this we mainly wanted to have something together just so there wasn't space this week into let everybody know we did the thing we got a story. It's going to be a sizable like little mini series. Yeah it's GonNa take a little time to hopefully this little Diary that we've done we'll give you some context in mind as you are listening to the other episodes. Yeah it's also I think this will be probably the first episode. That is the best example of the show that exists so far at the garden. At this thing we're putting together. That isn't done now. Don't be put off by this. Isn't your taste when we pitch this show like you know we've been doing Biographies of the different candidates. And we've done some specific issues and we're we'll do more of that because this is a weekly show and we can't go travel around the country every single week. We're not aware of enough different places to go to do that. Fifty Times next year So you know we need. We need to provide context context. Went to have a base of episodes for people to listen to Part of this is just keeping ourselves informed. But the real the heart and soul of this shows explorations of different American subcultures in how this selection and the increased politicization of our society has affected and change them. And like this is the first example of how they react How how they deal with it? Yes maybe bits of information or tactics or just like nice little moments that can help you get through the worst year ever. Yeah Yes oh yeah. Enjoy this fun. Little interlude That's not too serious today or not the final will be very different. Please definitely come come back for the next two episodes because I promise they are fascinating and this one's fun fun fun this La Fascinating. We didn't get any audio of the fires. Fires fires fires. Okay just ruining the spoilers you. Yeah I don't know how to introduce this episode of the podcast. You will not. This will not be the first thing heard on this episode. Also probably we're we're at Mid West for fest twenty. Nine December does the month twenty.

"The time time Jesus walked through hell itself and all the demons. All the all of the dead people all darkness Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah one man walks in and everyone walks out because he walked in with a message and didn't get any darkness on him and literally one person. One light in the darkness can illuminate everything. And so You Know Oh that is that is again that was kind of the takeaway from from our messages. Are the episode for your guess is upset as well as that If you're going to celebrate then do and do it intentionally do it with be the light in the darkness And for me it it does kind of come down to if view if you have some history like we've all talked about actually really glad we went into. That wasn't necessarily part of the plan. But I know for me if I hear an episode on Halloween and I don't hear them talk about the real demonic reality out there for me. It's kind of like well. They haven't experienced what I've experienced. You're talking about three people. Well who have very much experienced some very dark things where not denying that demons are real. I don't even know if I would deny that. Go surreal others to its. That's too common experience throughout the human history as well just because you have an experienced. It doesn't mean it's not real Episode I could talk for hours hours on Right so I think go sir absolutely real consciousness as a thing that that spans dimensions and so the paranormal is real. And that you're talking about three people who know that and yet two of these three absolutely sticking love Halloween and they and they started they start preparing for July or earlier. And you know I for one am looking forward to the first custom party. That I the go-to in a New Light. I've not really examined Halloween In this way ever and this year knowing you guys knowing how much you guys love it seeing your post on facebook something that and kind of the little conversations we had leading up to these two episodes recorded me on yours and yours. UN mind kind of caused me to to look at these things in a new way. And I am I am grateful for it. So thank you guys for being you and the your authentic is changing lives. So do you have any cybersecurity. One last one last little opportunity unity you know the NFC community is listening You have any kind of parting thoughts on Halloween in and things that you feel like we have uncovered the other people should think about. I would just say trust your conviction trust in how you want. Want to celebrate Halloween or any other holiday of the year or even just your daily life in and just really understand if you do have a conviction where that is coming from or if you don't have conviction and Don't tried to or anything on anybody. S You know we all have different lives lives you know we. We all have different experiences and just because one person is okay with something else doesn't necessarily mean everybody else has to be okay with that one the understanding that and then I think for me. I'm going to be a nerd for a second and talk a little bit about what I guess as like a traditional view of demons so of course Jews have no word for demon rights. It's not in the old chestnut. All we just kind of added it in for flavor and the New Testament Greek demons in a few different lights and we could go into like all those different things but the one that stuck out to me. The most whenever I studied through it was that demons are almost like poltergeists and that like some forms of demons are actually the negative energy we create end so we can get so caught up in a certain mindset that we actually actually manifest which I believe is what happened with my mother right like row she was so lost in this dark mindset all this passionate. She was molested as a child. She watched walked it on her mom having affairs bolt full-time she found as an adult. Her Dad wasn't actually her biological father. My mom had a lot of trauma that led her to try to cope with this mechanism that she used I and she created this literal poltergeist. The manifested out of her. And so what the the reason I say that is your fears. This can control you and I say that speaking to myself here you can manifest the very thing you fear and so if you choose not to give place place and I say we're not to give it place that means constantly fighting those thoughts but allow them just to come in to go. You know if you have a fear that's okay. You're justified in that. I don't let it consume you to the point of becoming a reality it's beautiful it's Speaking of the health stuff and the awesome. That stuff that you're talking about cutting I've got I've got some stuff that might help you. I don't know if I've talked to you at all about cy K.. Or Emotion Code but there is basically ugly energy work on a psychological level It is changed my life and now lives of many many people. And it's it's changed a subconscious level doc in high pressure to zone on that eventually But the other one would be the the other thought parting thought I have. which is you bring it up as demons I Love I say some of them are created by us. I would go so far as to say that all demons were created by humans. The whole fallen angel theory goes is the same way of the fallen The devil theory that Lucifer stuff when you understand who god is and what angels are The I know the book of Inox says a third of the angels and a lot of the people Get a third of the angels from from a third of the stars being swept to the earth. The I'll just say that's all highly debatable. And it's all based on interpretation And and I don't agree with those interpretations I believe that Humanity is responsible for darkness because we are gods and we have created darkness. Misra through our I am not creative capacities And that God creates what is good and that is as those who have his divine consciousness that have been taken that further and manifested. I am not in the form of the devil and demons and all all those energies so that is the short version of what I believe about demons and where they come from an better yet how to defeat them. There's a reason that that You know healing people who are not ready to be healed. Jesus says they come back stronger right because it's the same mental vibration the same energetic vibration that invites that that those energies before so you can cast out a demon but if the person's still sink thinking the the same thoughts now they not only have the same demon but they have all of the. Oh so I failed I you know I can't get healed. And they have all these other stronger beliefs say now. I'm really freaking stuck. Because it didn't work and so that's the the seven stronger that come come back and make it that much more difficult so You know demons are real for sure. But they're very defeatable they're easily defeated. Want to those who know what to do and how how to do it. but Yeah I really really appreciate you guys again and you know being able to share your thoughts and help me a kind of revisit visit Halloween and the the whole subject is always really enjoy having you guys on the show and Looking forward to getting to know oh you guys more and more for the NEC audience. These guys we are in discussions about any event They were just talking about it with some some other podcasters down in what Franklin Tennessee is kind of where we're thinking about right now. Yeah I think frankly right outside of Nashville also. Yeah okay so if that happens again there's a group of podcasters cody cody lane of Ben Very instrumental kind of getting together as.

"Hey Guys Dan when I mention their name I missed up just said Johnson so this is officially it's good it's a little late tonight and we're just kind of settling in with some coffee and yes yeah I feel like we are and we are you know it's weird because the Halloween was like with our big party so we're kind of like last weekend see how many people were over how sp between fifty and sixty awhile in our house spread out in so yeah it was fun it was hectic it was crazy sauce Stan Oh yeah we live in a pretty central in Arkansas so so it was nice it was nice today we have a freeze warning so you never know what's A cartoon mini series came out in twenty fourteen caught over the garden wall as well but I am the beast or was the beast of eternal darkness which is kind overseen are setup by hang all of our masks are all my masks from each year and this one unlike cody could not walk or just Dr Phil over heavy was thing it's not bad it's it's made out of paper during down at me on the wall right now now where do you get the how did our been working on since early July here I did For any legend of Zelda fans I was Majora amateurs mask easy so we go all out so which is kind of sad because we don't even get to wear them on Halloween take your time worth millions you dress up as yeah we Soda Cape and that was basically it minors easy so try to children oh my gosh so we have officially established would it be so two days after Halloween so it's it's a couple of days late have to ask why do you guys like worshipping the devil so much Oh man well evil Oh yeah just you know just like on Christmas and Easter Right Oh doc for those of you listening worshipping the devil is something that can happen and if you want more insight into totally scramble your brain on that just go listen to the episode on how to messing with just it's it's massive things that we just take so for granted kind of part of this episode is I guess I'm super curious as somebody who the you know I remember being in junior high and finding on Halloween because it was fairly fresh and it was the next day and so happen on Halloween night and so you know and then I mean but that there is something unique about Halloween night about October thirty first Halloween intentionally participate and bring an energy that is not about fighting that's on that go listen to the reckless pursuit podcast and it was at the did adjust air this week ahead my experience as a kid right what is it about Halloween is it about it that you guys enjoy so much sure well you wanna like an Ode to the episode we had air on our show at this past we're all obviously spiritual people we are energy were all this in for just ritual and the physical is a thinnest right it's the easiest crossover so naturally that means that on this night you can also bring even maybe a greater in is one of those is Oh we'll look at all the dark look at all the nat look at all the scary enjoy and in happiness and enjoyment to it and you know I was someone joining Zayed's in the past in my own struggles I've had to face but like if it's about like hell's take a teenager about dressing up a why I have no idea now the problems you can take that as someone who had grown up way too much in the church embiid told way the year now just for one season so obviously there was a mental shift in their I love going through the haunted houses and not the the super scary ones where the church so I didn't have to go to help but praised the Lord right had woods right as a small piece of land but we had woods next to our house and my dad we would for fun because it was controlled and we understood what was happening in we were safe right now as I'm kind of coming back to a just a a less dogmatic view of mental state it's not this you know I can I can walk into a theaters in dissimilarities because I have that mindset is Kinda like we had this video yeah but and it's just funny little video in Elaine's holding up this OUIJA board yes no yes no one it's like is Halloween is sin knows God mad at me for celebrating no like can I no he's not I don't give room to that kind of negativity m. you have that ability to kind of decide that now is a big thing for me just coming into that mindset and always enjoyed choosers dark and twisted ringe and the second favorite color is black and I just I love the spirit Halloween because scary movies it's it's a lot of fun and going to haunted houses like cody saying like is I didn't necessarily grow up in Church didn't really go to church until I was in high ever let us be witches but my mom always just as a witch so I don't understand five six years of my life we didn't celebrate Halloween 'cause my mom she had her fair share of like would you boards all of that stuff just had really dark things oh I was allowed to watch scary movies I guess like my psycho and Candyman and like all these old scary movies but then some of the more practice comes in is I was never afraid of them because I knew that one it was a movie and it's it's just a fun holiday to me like I said I her and then by the time the week of Halloween we start taking down our health need stuff because I h we've kept Halloween stuff for more up we always not the fun one of the fun things but Halloween is right after Christmas than you have to me and if there wasn't Christmas after Halloween Nick Depression being surrounded by darkness and scary faces and all this stuff like constantly things and candy canes and Santa Claus and all that stuff but as that's where the spirit the negative stuff starts coming in your life a fam- surrounded the reason that they don't celebrate Halloween because it messes with them or watch scary movies a haunted houses me if it really messes with them because I feel like it's not out I'm not gonNA shove that on somebody I'm I'm GonNa be okay if someone does it celebrate here than it's no longer to me it's no longer a good thing there is clinically physiologically her and enjoyment and one of the way I pleasure or a or negative pleasure and there's different versions of and you know sem sexual stuff it's it's one of the things they mentioned his aac people it 'cause I love spicy food like it's a problem like I like really the scary side of things like you said would force him to go to haunted house very sensitive too scary scenes in movies do you guys ever remember that show live action one or the cartoon the live action went ahead the guy who was Hercules and Xena warrior princess like back to back and then every once in a while they would one of the Greek gods time of the Greek gods and the and the titans and stuff like that so some of my brother used to make fun of me because I would get nightmares very like terror night terror and I guess I was GonNa ask as you mentioned your mom in you know before you were born I've had one and it was a couple years ago and I don't kids or something I was with cody at the time and I left their house take this demon was sitting my passenger seat next to me and Bertha time like vividly being able to see like the outline of his face and just like all the teeth speaker like turn my head like I was terrified and I'd never experienced anything like this each camper something so I was at like accidentally opening doors or anything Har and the only thing that I felt like could get rid of I was so terrified now still living with my parents at the time and I was so terrified crying as soon as I get in my bedroom and like I don't and my friend like pray over my car and I've never had anything since then and that was like interesting this is actually something I've never shared on a podcast ever herbal with him I just kind of WanNa like I asset alter my teenage years and everything had huge identity issues had huge like free out chase this with this just give a nice little thing you say that you were scared so bad that like I went to a Christian a Christian private school because I was like just having like a panic and so sad because I've had it from both ends right I was very terrified of revelation spiritual warfare and I use that word very seriously I don't really like the word spiritual warfare open my mouth your words coming out of my mouth and I was literally having to repeat that you know damn him leave just tell God to leave like tell just fearmongering that we're taught all these terrible ideas and portrayals we that very carefully because I know obsessive compulsive real saying but you know just tantric finger could not get it out of my head in my mom like I have shared before on here was a very raging alcoholic one I guess one of the ones that was more spiritual as I walked into her room to get like it was going to touch me and I passed out and I woke up on anything but I remember vividly seeing it standing.

"We want you to sneak out here and we want you to scare us and we loved it. I don't know why it was just super for fun because it was controlled and we understood what was happening and we were safe right and I think as I got older I started viewing days of the Of Holidays or certain days or certain things as unsafe and then now is I'm kind of coming back to a just a a less dogmatic view of God and understanding you know what creation is in what source is. I'm realizing like hey you know I am safe because safe is a mental state. It's not this you know I can. I can walk into a you know a store that is promoting Satan is. I can talk to Satan is I can talk to. which isn't you know other religions and all this and I see more similarities now than I do fears and dissimilarities because I have that mindset is kind of like we had this video video and I I in our episode two weeks back but I'll share here like we have this video on talk and if you don't know what tick tock is Google it? I'm going to explaining that. Yeah but And it's just funny little video in Elaine's holding up this OUIJA board doormat or not during a placement. Not even a real OUIJA board guys like it's just it's fake it's made for like laying dishes on and it's like this whole like it's like an audio clip of like. Yes no yes. No one. It's like is. Halloween is sin knows God mad at me for celebrating. No like can I. I still have fun and dress up. Yes that kind of thing and like people were going crazy like. Don't you know what you're doing holding that the devils going to be in your house. I'm like no no no. He's not I don't give room to that kind of negative Assi M. I. Promoting to go and play with no. I'm saying that you are in in control of what kind of energy gets off on you. You have that ability to kind of decide that now is a big thing for me just coming into that mindset then realizing hey I can have fun with this season. I don't have to be a stick in the mud for me. It's a lot less fear. No always enjoyed choosers. Dark and twisted you like I always loved dressing up the nightmare before Christmas. Mrs My favorite movie I love Tim Burton everything. My favorite color is orange and the second favorite color is black and I just. I love the spirit Halloween. Because it's fun to me in the right light. Obviously like we talked about. There's a lot of demonic stuff but in the right light Getting around Campfire and tear telling scary stories or watching scary movies. It's it's a lot of fun and going to haunted. Houses like cody saying it. The thrill of being steered in a controlled environment You know this always. He's been fun to me and it's never been I guess because I didn't necessarily grow up in church really go to church until I was in high. I school But we went on eastern like that so it was never like this acephalous as bad I remember growing up. My mom wouldn't ever ever let us be witches but my mom always just as a witch so I don't understand that part of it But yeah and so like yeah very interesting thing But we always went trick or treating and I will say The first five six years of my life. We didn't celebrate Halloween because my mom was previously married and There was a lot of stuff that she was. She went through before she got pregnant with me very spiritual demonic staff and she she had her fair share of like would you boards all of that stuff just had really dark things and so the first few years of my life. We didn't celebrate Halloween. But I don't remember that So so I like problematic for me or whatever but You know I was allowed to watch scary movies I guess like my my mom had certain stipulations. What certain movies were okay Because I remember like as a kid. She's like Oh my gosh you have to watch psycho. It's such a great movie and I remember like watching psycho and candyman and like all these old scary movies. But then some of the more at like demonic movies. I remember my mom saying okay like be careful. I don't want you watching Cassini's end than even when I did I guess we're the spiritual practice comes in is. I was never afraid of them because I knew that one. It was a movie movie end to like. I knew the the power of God and all that stuff off and like scary movies just never bothered me. I never had like nightmares from them And it's it's just a fun holiday to me like I said I can see the very dark things. I was. Just talking to cody about this the other day so so we have our big Halloween party. And it's always like the second or third week of October and then by the time the week how we start taking down our how he stuff because I so tired of it. It's it's my favorite holiday but we've had stuff up since September and We I don't think the entirety of our marriage H. We've kept Halloween stuff For more we always go on Halloween trick or treaters so we could stuck out here. I will say I was just talking to cody with this about this yesterday. I think of like to me the fun. One of the fun things about Halloween is right after Christmas. Then you have everyone everyone coming together. And it's just such a sweet time and I was saying as much as I love Halloween. If there wasn't that Christmas is almost like a debriefing period to me and if there wasn't Christmas after Halloween it you know so you you're scared for a month and you're like okay like family friends Then I could. I feel like I would be in a dark place. I could see where like depression being surrounded by darkness and Sterry faces and all this stuff like constantly constantly being surrounded by that After a month I feel like it's no longer fun And then like there comes a time we have to start celebrating life and fun things things and Candy Canes and Santa Claus and all that stuff but as much as Jesus but as much as I love Halloween like I. I don't think I could celebrate Halloween all year. Because I feel I that's whenever you start like That's where the spirit the negative stuff starts coming in your life. FM surrounded by darkness and death. And it's no longer fun and also I have like a huge strong conviction of if people for whatever the reason that they don't celebrate Halloween because it messes with them or watch scary movies and that just puts them in a dark place or no people are genuinely terrified and fearful Foale than I'm not GonNa Force that on somebody I'm not gonNA force somebody to go to haunted houses me if it really messes with them Because I feel like it's not out of live at a fun and enjoyment and it's strictly out of fear and people honestly feel like their life is on the line or whatever it takes him to the start place. Then I'm I'm not gonNA shove that on somebody. I'm I'M GONNA be okay if someone doesn't celebrate Halloween with me And I just think if it's no longer about fun and the thrill of it and it's just it becomes darkness and fear than it's no longer to me. It's no longer a good thing. So this is a random question. Do you guys like spicy food. Yes absolutely okay. Doesn't always like me. So the reason I ask is there there is clinically are physiologically Vir and pain Are are very very close in proximity in the brain to pleasure and enjoyment And one of the way in I was there was an article awhile back trying to basically the premise of the articles. Everyone kind of has what they would call. I think they called. They called a guilty pleasure leisure or a negative pleasure and there's different versions of it the two most common being fear and pain and and they use it exactly so you know it's not just it's not just Horror movies and SEM sexual stuff. It's it's one of the things. They mentioned his AAC people who loves spicy food It hits that it has pleasure center in the brain of the pain and I was like. Oh okay that makes more sense. I can finally relate it 'cause I love spicy food like it's a problem like I like really spicy food. The stuff the stuff that I like is painful for most people. If I'm sweating well I'm eating. It's a good deal so but when I think about the the scary side of things like you said I wouldn't force me to go to haunted house us with me. Look good because you couldn't make me like like like I. So even as a little kid I was very very sensitive too scary scenes in movies. Do you guys ever remember that. Show you might be a little too young for his pretty Dang young The TV show. Hercules the live action one or the cartoon the live action went ahead. The Guy who was a he ended up being Yasser played the captain and one of the one of the Star Trek TV series I think I remember of it but I haven't watched a regular. It was Hercules Hercules and xena warrior. Princess like back to back and then every once in a while they would do like the xena Hercules show Hercules Xena show and there were certain bad guys in Hercules like caze was obviously said back in kind of the Greek gods time of the Greek gods and the and the titans is something that so some of the bad guys were like Medusa had multiple heads. And and you know some of the bad guys in those shows were pretty creepy and my I you see my. My brother used to make fun of me because I would get nightmares Very like terror night terror nightmares. Like I would be afraid to go to sleep type of thing. And I saw my whole life and then I've had some certain experiences demonic experiences And I guess I was GonNa ask as you mentioned your mom Elaine. You know Before you were born Have you have you guys ever had experiences with demonic demonic encounters or anything that you would home or paranormal that she would throw that I've had one and it was a couple years ago and I don't know how it happened. Why it happened but I remember I was leaving a friend's house. I think we were like helping. Wash their kids or something I was with cody at the time and I left their house house. I think I was going back to my house at thirty minute drive and it was round like ten or eleven. PM At night. And all of a sudden I felt like take this demon was sitting my passenger seat next to me and like I can't even Express like how I was aware of this but I I felt like he was in my passenger seat in this. This is a few summers ago but I remember at the time like vividly being able to see like the outline of his face and just like all the teeth breath and everything and I felt like he had his arm around my neck and as I was driving and like I remember not being able to really like speaker speaker like turn my head like I was terrified and I'd never experienced anything like this and like I said I was watching scary movies. It was during the summer so it wasn't Ronald Halloween. I wasn't involved in anything. I think the week before I left a church camp or something And so I was at like accidentally winning doors or anything But for thirty minutes like I literally felt like he was staring at me. The whole time in his arm is wrapped around like my The seat in the car Har and the only thing that I felt like could get rid of the demon was like I put on some random hill song music and like turn it all the way up and and Like it was. It was in my car like on the entire ride home. I was so terrified now. Still living with my parents at the time and I was so terrified to even get out of my car and walked to the front door in the dark And I was so scared to lock my door and I didn't even turn my hind me and I remember like just crying crying as soon as I get In my bedroom and like.

"Need extra them. Then this child season an exorcist. I just get the shit out right now that was deal with it. Look, it's not my parental issues. As a mother fucking demon from hell that I got to get rid of with holy water until we need to do a deep dive on this Atlantic article because it's interesting they go into like, the exorcist process and community and a lot of it is like, yeah. A lot of these people are dealing with like sexual abuse histories, right mental illnesses, and it's like, yeah. Wait, you guys know that you're? Right. You get that. There's like mental health issues going on. They don't trust a shrink they try to priest. Okay. They the Catholic church actually sends people to a mental health like resource. Oh, I oh, right. You were saying. Yeah. And then once that's been if they just like way more they take it more seriously and more scientifically than I expected. But well, I maybe there's something to the placebo effect of being like, well, we got it out better right now, the devils gone, man. Wait. So do you have to they have to tell you up on a bed? I have no idea. So you don't actually get to see a real exercise because because the person who he's following who seems like she's having some issues they end up like not needing to go full exercises them with nine so good. Yeah. If anyone has any hidden camera like real life, extra schism tapes. You can slide my way I would like see those. Yeah. Katie. "And what is something you think is underrated YouTube as a place to discuss important issues. Now, this I was not expecting because YouTube has a bad reputation both because the comments on YouTube tend to be just an utter sewer. Also because there's so much publicity about like all of the Nazis on YouTube. Yeah. But the thing that I think the world like Jackie vividly, remember meetings. We had it cracked where people were telling us if videos more than three minutes long. Nobody's gonna watch. Yeah. I do remember that. And now, you go on YouTube, and the big thing is these long form reviews, two hours, long, two and a half hours long digging into some subject, so where you know. Whereas I think that like Twitter and courage is like the worst possible white if you know where to look on YouTube, you can find like fantastic videos, doing deep dives into stuff that I don't think would have been possible anywhere stuff that never would have made it on TV it's, but I mean, I can we can list channels. I like in the footnotes, there's one called contra points that contra it's yeah. It's a trans woman who has a philosophy degree and she digs into all sorts of stuff like Jordan, Peter. Son, and in cells, and like where these things come from. And the mindset, and it's done from very like a sympathetic thoughtful point of view. And she's a genius. But it's also hilarious. But and we could or Cody Johnston has now taken his show and dependent though he was doing on cracked. Yeah. There's a lot of that. You'll these are a long form shows they'll be Forty-five minutes or an hour, and they will dig into a subject they will link their sources in the description like they will go point by point and breakdown subject like they will take these stuff that like the Nazis put out there, and they will break it down. Point-by-point is the exact opposite of Twitter again, if you know where to look there's garbage but point is on Twitter. There's like no such thing as good in-depth put ical content because it's kind of not possible on YouTube. If you know where to look that's as it's more thoughtful than probably in the other platform. Yeah. It's almost like it's a new gene row of Filmer video that that exists on YouTube, the sort of explainer video, and I've seen it used to brilliant affect. Also seen it used to make people not believe that nine eleven. Yeah. Or I mean, it's it's a very easy way to get radicalized too. I think on either. But I think what to the John Ray thing the people who really made you to what it was or people who just didn't who weren't using the same sort of rules of making video or film or TV and I think. Yeah. That that just sort of gave way to this whole other genre video, I guess, but yeah, there's there's so much good stuff on there. There's also a lot of bad stuff. I know they're in the process of trying to figure out how they limit a lot of the sort of shitty problematic racist channels that are out there. But you know, it's like anything it cuts both ways. Yeah. But I mean YouTube that was curated by really smart people who also fact checked would be an amazing platform. Yeah. Yeah. But this is where like the place criticize YouTube is in their algorithm that wants to because they're hoping is in like total men at the time. Yeah. So. They want to deliver you directly into another video. So it's extremely easy to be watching. Okay. Here's a video about video games. Or you know, it's criticizing something and a game. But guess what this game critic is something of an alt-right personality. So it takes you directly into his next video which is about cultural Marxism, which because of the way their playlists is just an algorithm. Right. Like, all they know is people who watched this also tended to watch this. And it's very agnostic that way. So you're like four videos away from an outright like actual Nazi with a swastika on the channel just by following the trail from guy or sucked to this game shouldn't have had black people in it to the great replacement theory in Europe, and how white white genocide like you're you're not that far away at any given moment..

"Hey, everybody. This is behind the bastards. I'm Robert Evans. I'm here with Cody Johnston and Katie stole and Cody is furious because of something that happened on the internet early guard smoke coming out of it. Here's. Omar, he's really angry. There's nothing I can do is nothing to do about. It is someone was blatantly wrong online on on the internet. And they set it, and they said hateful support it, and I'm so. You know, what's healthy? This awesome. Waited for your heart. Good lungs. I find the best way through this is just to keep reopening wounds. Yeah. And then putting some salt in it. Okay. And then talking about it and really focusing on it. That's good. If you tried numbing yourself with drugs and alcohol. That's right super guy. That's. Not part of that step once it's unbearably painful you consume whatever you need to get through the next twelve hours. Always get like, these emails like DM civic. Hey the show. But like how do you keep saying like, yeah, we what he's talking about? I'm I'm never not. Hi, how do you relax? And you say, I don't I mean, I do drugs and rewatch community for the fifth time. Feel like the world. Same Vermont's Rama in the background. I'm. I have to admit I've never read, Harry Potter and Niamh a listening to them. Sounds soothing. That sounds soothing. I can't wait to get back in my car and listen to it. It's nice. It's nice. It's not what happens to the gang. Mhm Jim nail what pressure optimistic fiction Star Trek? The next generation. Ooh. Yeah. You don't think too much about what's happening now in the fact that when they rebooted it's probably just going to be Picard punching pieces seventy six rather than choosing to use his words instead of weaponry because diplomacy compassion perhaps like that episode where like there's this space monster that kills a couple of hundred people but the new like, oh, just hungry. We can find a way to make sure it doesn't kill anymore people without killing it because it's better to not kill things. Even if they've done wrong, if they don't know that what they've done was wrong because they're an animal how sometimes not killing better. On sept. Talk about Nazis in America, go. Yeah. Okay. So when we just left off twenty thousand people had rallied at Madison Square Garden to support the German American Boone a hundred thousand anti-fascist shown up outside they had fought with the police the largest display of force in NYPD history to protect the fascist fascist fascist had beaten, the shit out of a Jewish. Boy who run on stage win Fritz Kuhn was directly attacking Jewish race to applause to applause riotous. Cheers joyful. That's unfamiliar. Yeah. We're all cut up up to feed. Now, we're all that up to speed about what happened two days ago on this podcast. Now there are numerous accounts a police failing intervene against violent fascist mobs throughout the nineteen thirties in nineteen thirty three after the first pro Nazi rallies in Los Angeles. A World War One veteran named leeann Lewis started a grassroots undercover spying operation along with several other disabled veterans, they joint various fascist groups, including the silver shirts in order to report on their operations. When Lewis went to the police to talk about what he had seen the silver shirts planning, which was the overthrow of the democratically like the government and extermination of several raises the enslavement of black when he went to the LAPD with this minnow throw to the LA times, quote, not only with the police unconcerned they were sympathetic to the Nazi silver shirts. I have records of Leon Louis going to Los Angeles police chief Jim to gun Davis. And telling them, look, I'm not just some amateur. I was actually a captain I did some intelligence in the army. I have these veterans with me, and we have uncovered a plot to seize the armories here. We're all the munitions and weapons we know they are actively buying guns and San Diego, and they're planning to take over the city government takeover, the.

"Hopefully, it breaks the way we needed to. But yeah, I think there's another thing that kind of gets lost in that analysis of. A lot of those seats is like, I don't know if we talked about this. But like there was a Washington Post poll, those like woods things are getting tight. We don't know about those Blue Wave thing. But they were an analyzing. I think something like sixty nine different tossup districts, and they're noting that like sixty one of those were solidly Republican ones that were becoming more blue, you know, hopefully, there is that momentum can carry through. But yeah, I think the bottom line is complacency is not going to help anybody. Yeah. And like the to begin with the election map was really unfavorable to Democrats just overall. So even though we're seeing a shift towards like some counties, turning blue. It's still not necessarily going to shift all the way blue just because they got bluer, and I just feel like the stuff that our listeners are seeing in the mainstream media that we're seeing that we like were saying Pence took an L with the Oprah thing that's being circulated on their side as just like a toy. Little fuck and win for and Trump and the right? And they said this isn't Hollywood rate because he said this isn't Hollywood book. Yeah. I don't really trust polls. Right. Because how are they getting their information? Our are the calling voters are they knocking on doors, and then be I'm really thinking about redistricting and census and the long term. 'cause the reason why these districts are so red is because of how redistricting happened in twenty ten and now we're facing the twenty twenty election. So there's redistricting after that. There's all this work being done to dissuade immigrant voters from doing from signing up for census. They're trying to like make people who are. I think immigration is up to be ridden down for census like your immigration status asking the season ship question on census. Right. And so all these I think we do have a lot riding tomorrow. But I do think that we need to take a bigger step back and look at the system that's in place. That's keeping the Republicans in power. And are these precincts have been chopped up in? That's kind of the bigger fight that we need to fight that. And also like how voter to being purged from the roles another one. And I think that's why we also reiterate don't just vote for those big ticket items. Don't just both for your senators and congress will vote for the secretary states in attorney general's in your local politicians to state legislatures because those are the people who are actually going those people who have a little more power over the most power in terms of redistricting and things like that. And who you selected put in the governor's houses. Well, so yeah, he has talked about on the episode that I missed last week. You can bring your phone into the boating. A lot of people think you could fuck and bring a book, whatever you need. You know, the person. Interpreter. Right. Yeah. They just can't tell you. What to the can't be like, you know, what I'm saying? Let's talk about Steve king because this is. Yeah. I mean, I think we just need to talk about we all know, he's a fucking racist Nazi motherfucker. And he's hopefully his ask is voted out. I awoke please do the right fucking thing and lease show this man of the fucking door. If you guys aren't listening to behind the bastards already that's a podcast on our network with Robert Evans from cracked and isn't amazing podcast, but he had a Cody Johnston, and Katie stolen from all three. Formerly of crack to talk about all the white supremacists. Who are running this term? And Steve king is is a big one. Well, yes, I mean, look for those of you don't know suffice to say he's based he's a Nazi Austria he met up with some new Nazis Austria came back. And it was like, hey, if they came to the US, they'd probably be Republican. No, they would be Republicans Elliara ready known that..
