"The human brain and human emotions than almost anything else that happens in a baseball game because I completely understand Roger Clemens in that moment. I feel the fog. I feel the chaos. And I feel my body doing it, not knowing why, not having any intention, not having any goal and it just like coming out of my life. Yeah. And so I really do relate to that in a moment. Yeah, and he said it was out of control emotions. He also said he was unaware that Piazza was shocking down the first baseline and that he was attempting to sling it toward the on deck circle where the bat boys were. I had no idea Mike was running on the foul ball. There was no intent there. So he's just trying to chuck it off the field is, I guess, the best possible explanation for it. But even that just slinging around that shards, it's not something that pitchers typically do. Once my dad was slinging rocks, he was just, you know, throwing rocks out out into the great, you know, beyond. And he didn't let go of one and his arm came all the way around. And he hit my mom who was standing behind him. With a rock. And he said, I thought it was the ball. I had very, I had more restrictions on throwing things than the average person. Because of that, because of my mom's like, you just never know. All right, mine is, yeah, mine is, I was at the Kendrick's Morales. Grand Slam. Yep. And if people don't know this, because you know it's good because as soon as you said his name, I was like, oh. Yeah, yeah. So this happened now. You guys, 13 years ago. Stop it. Yeah. So Felix and Jared weaver, I don't like the two best pitchers in the AL at the time. Had this great duel and it was one one. It was super tense game, division rivals, Frankie Rodriguez came in for a tuning, hold the line appearance, I mean, an amazing game. Sunday afternoon game. And in the tenth, Kendrick's Morales hits a walk off Grand Slam off Brandon league, and it is the most, I mean, it's like the highest Pinnacle of baseball emotion and then he comes around to his teammates waiting for him at home plate and he jumps on home plate and breaks his leg and the leg slips. He breaks his leg, the teammates are still bopping him thinking this is part of the bit and it takes like, I don't know, I want to say it takes a minute before the crowd finally is like this is the celebration is going a little long. And you know, it was like the turnaround in emotions. I've never seen anything like it. I've never been involved in anything like it, and the fact that it all happened after the game was already over. So you're having like peak peak baseball emotion after you thought you'd already reached, you know, catharsis. And so yeah, that game I've never seen anything like it. That was it for me. Yeah. It's a good one. Never was the same. Guys are still getting hurt celebrating fairly routinely. David Robertson missing the NLDS last year after same sort of play. I mean, it was just a strained calf or something, but still. And they're still doing the arm bopping. No. Thing. Yeah. It's dangerous to celebrate. Like the bash brothers thing, is that what you mean? Yeah. Like the thing that caused Cody Bellinger's shoulder to dislocate and then maybe changed his entire career who could say, you know, like, I mean, it was sort of trending in a bad way before that, but it really took a sharp turn after that. Yeah, it's an argument in favor of not celebrating, not because you might show someone up, but because you might hurt yourself. All right. Okay, third question and I don't know. Maybe this is just as hard to come up with as the first one, but the supreme example of this from basically our own broader experience watching baseball. So anything that happened while we were watching ball. We didn't have to be there. You didn't have to be, I mean, I don't even care if you saw it happen if you saw it happen on Twitter, that's fine with me. But what is like the modern great moment? I have one that is, it is not unprecedented in baseball history, but it is a thing I wish I could have seen. And Sam, you may have seen one of these live. I wish that I could have seen a bonds for intentional walk game in person. Oh, yeah. 'cause I know that for at least I believe he has had he had two and in one of them, he did get an actual at bat, and then after that they were like, no. No, thank you. And then he was walked intentionally four times. So I would have I would like to have seen that. And then I have a niche or one, a more niche, what is the modifier there? I have a niche year. I've got a niche year one, which is that when the robo zone was being piloted in the Arizona fall league, two things happened with the robo zone that I think is just delightful. The first is that for all the flipped off the track man unit one point you just turned around and gave the bird to the box. Does that go anywhere? I mean, it might have hurt the computer's feelings. And then another player was ejected for arguing balls and strikes, and I'm not recalling his name. But, you know, they know. They know. In advance, that it is not the home plate ump, who is calling it, right? And at that time, I think they were really not doing much to give the umpires discretion to overrule the zone. You just got bounced from like a folly game and you know these are guys who they're trying to impress their organization or other scouts, some of them are fighting for 40 man spots. And so all the ways to potentially miss out on playing time to have fought with a computer and then lost. That feels, that feels like it would be bad, but I wasn't there for either of them. So those are some of my it's a good one. Yeah. The one I thought of was this hardly narrows it down, but ALDS game 5, 2015. This whole I swear to you when I was gonna admit this entire conversation was just I wanted to see if everybody would say the same play. And then all of this was a big long distraction because I didn't want to put three. Yes. I love the bat. That was the best, I think. It was kind of the capper to that inning.

"Game with Sarah Lang's. They're laying reporter producer from MLB dot com, Sarah, how are you doing? I'm doing great, buster. We've spring training games starting tomorrow. I'm so, so excited. Yeah, but the game that matters the most and you're going to be part of the broadcast is on Monday when we get the first national role of each new rules. Yes? Yeah, so very excited to see how they all, how they all work, what's all happening, how people are reacting, how fans are reacting and tell where they are. It's going to be really fun to tell all of that. So when I talk to Carl, I just mentioned to him, you know, we talked about guys who might be poised for a breakout, just a monster season. And I mentioned Fernando Tati's junior, it just feels like he's gathering momentum. He's going to be so excited to return to the Padres lineup and the last ten days of April. And another guy mentions Kyle Tucker. Like I feel like he's already a really good player. He's not really known by a national audience in the same way that, you know, Jose Altuve Alex Bregman is. But this is the year I think he absolutely erupts because he's going to be surrounded by so much depth in that lineup. For you, who's a player who you think might have a huge year? Well, I love both of those. For me, I mean, obviously I was talking about Juan Soto on the podcast with John on Monday. No, no sense of time. That's you know to see if it is almost here. I don't know what day of the week it is. But I think that he will, you know, he and tattoos both probably feel like they have something to prove in different ways. I think that will be a really big motivating factor. You know another guy I'm really excited to see is trade Turner. Obviously, with the new rules on pick offs and the bases, everything else. I mean, we know what he does on the base path. And I think he's going to be really, really big asset to that lineup in Philadelphia, so I'm really excited to see him at that point in his career and with this new team. Let's play the numbers game. Number three. Number three is 90%. So speaking of couple Tucker and a few other guys, you know, we've been talking about these role changes. And one thing I wanted to make sure to point out is who were the guys who were shifted on the most last year among qualified players. So there were four guys to be shipped at least 90% of the time last season. Kyle's course they were, oh my gosh, excuse me. And 92.8% call Tucker and 90.9 Cody Bellinger at 90.5 and Kyle schwarber at 90.5% as well. So it's very interesting to look at those guys. We've talked about Cory's here already this Austin and I think he'd really underrated your last year. And the idea that he could be even better without that defensive position against him is of course pretty fearsome per anyone facing him. Kyle Tucker, of course, as you said, definitely seems poised to really get that national intention. I think he deserves. He's been a really good player for a couple of years. It's kind of the wild card on this list. I think the cubs are obviously hoping that not being shifted against mine help him, but they think there may be a few other things to fix there and then college were very it almost doesn't matter if you shift on him. He's just going to hand it out. The ballpark. But obviously not tasting those will be a good thing for him. Number two number two is 30 for 30 points. So last year, Jesse winker, now with brewers, had a 30 point difference between his expected batting average and actual batting average, which was time for the third largest difference for any qualified data. So what that tells us is that he was getting unlucky, maybe he wouldn't say whatever it may have been. His batting average should have been higher. In a 59 point different for the same in his slugging personage, which was also tied for third. I think he's really good pick as someone to have a bounced back here this year. He had two surgeries in the off season his knee and his neck. He was dealing with blood of injury last year, and I wonder if those contributed to his very low hard hit rate, it was 34%. This was the guy who was at 47% last year in 2021 and 49% in 2020, but we know that he is really good eye for the strike zone. 99% on chase rate, so he is not chasing it all. And they feel like if he is healthy, he will get back to hitting the ball harder, which will solve a lot of those issues from last year. Number one number one is 15. So again, we've talked a lot about this incoming pitch timer and the 15 is for the amount of time picture gets with the bases empty, 15 seconds. So we don't have specific measurements from last season to walk us around. But saka didn't measure last year. Time between pitches Thrones and the difference is the timer is from receiving the ball back from the catcher to starting to delivering. So time between pitches thrown is obviously a larger number. But when the pitch armor was announced, there was a sort of average of how long it takes to receive that throw from the catcher. And that was subtracted. So we have this sort of a pitch time equivalent. And again, these aren't exactly what the numbers will look like for this year, but it's a pretty good estimation. So there were a couple of guys whose number with the bases empty was 15 seconds or higher last year, Shohei Ohtani of 15.7 seconds. Louis Garcia 15.2. Corbin burns at 15.1 and you Jarvis at 15. Again, that doesn't mean that if you use the role last year and they would have been in an estimation, but it gives you an idea of guys who may be entering training right now, making sure that they're going to not have any alarm go off, anything go to red, go to zero or anything. On the other side, because we should give credit to guys. We won't even have to worry about this. Here are a couple of the guys who are the fastest by this metric last year, so cool Irvin, E .1 seconds on that pitch timer

Kyle Tucker Sarah Lang Fernando Tati Jose Altuve Alex Bregman Juan Soto Cody Bellinger Kyle schwarber Tucker Padres MLB Jesse winker Carl Sarah Turner

"And <Speech_Male> yeah, now I got cold feet, <Speech_Male> man. I hope you <Speech_Male> feel the same way <Speech_Male> because this needs <Speech_Male> that this needs to be the right <Speech_Male> move. We'll talk <Speech_Male> about a time and time and again, <Speech_Male> this next <Speech_Male> long-term <Speech_Male> contract for <Silence> the shortstop position, <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> if that's the way <Speech_Male> they're going to go, I don't <Speech_Male> want them to go stop, got <Speech_Male> option, but we can't roll <Speech_Male> it out until we see the answer. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> If <Speech_Male> they're going for an 8 <Speech_Male> to ten year con or <Speech_Male> even 12, <Speech_Male> if you have to <Speech_Male> go 12 on somebody <Speech_Male> and call <Speech_Male> whatever you do it, <Speech_Male> I'm not here in the business <Speech_Male> side of the game. I don't know <Speech_Male> what's going on, but it <Silence> has to be an absolute home <Speech_Male> run. And <Speech_Male> I think that home run is <Silence> <Speech_Male> Carlos Correa. <Speech_Male> And I think <Speech_Male> the short term, <Speech_Male> I think <Speech_Male> the short term <Speech_Male> option <SpeakerChange> is not <Speech_Male> really shouldn't <Silence> be on the table, but if <Silence> it is, <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> I think you go with Marcus <Speech_Male> Simeon. <Speech_Male> Even though there's <Speech_Male> concerns there too, he hasn't <Speech_Male> played short stop <Speech_Male> in more than <Speech_Male> 50 games since <Speech_Male> 2019. <Speech_Male> So is that a guy <Silence> you want to play? Sure. I don't know, <Speech_Male> dude. <Speech_Male> It's confusing, but <Speech_Male> now at ten to 12 year <Silence> contract for Corey <Speech_Male> Seeger, <Speech_Male> should have <Speech_Male> fans questioning a little <Speech_Male> bit because of what <Speech_Male> we just saw. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> And if the price <Speech_Male> isn't going down, if <Speech_Male> the price is going to go <Speech_Male> up exponentially <Speech_Male> for these players and they <Speech_Male> perform admirably <Speech_Male> and blow <Speech_Male> expectations out of <Speech_Male> the water, then <Speech_Male> the price and <Speech_Male> the demand <Speech_Male> and the requests <Speech_Male> have to go down <Speech_Male> if you <Speech_Male> see poor play <Speech_Male> or a lack of <Speech_Male> availability. <Speech_Male> And we just saw <Speech_Male> lack of availability <Speech_Male> from Corey Seager <Speech_Male> who missed 67 <Silence> games in <Speech_Male> 2021 <Speech_Male> due to <Speech_Male> due to <Speech_Male> wrist injury <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> and we just saw a <Speech_Male> very, very bad postseason <Speech_Male> performance where <Speech_Male> his team needed him <Speech_Male> to <Speech_Male> deliver on <Speech_Male> any front. And the only players <Speech_Male> who delivered in that <Speech_Male> series were Chris <Speech_Male> Taylor, who's <Speech_Male> a utility player and <Speech_Male> Cody Bellinger who <Speech_Male> had the worst regular <Speech_Male> season arguably <Speech_Male> of any major <Speech_Male> league player at this <Speech_Male> past year. <Speech_Male> So I <Speech_Male> officially have cold feet. <Speech_Male> Take with that what you will. <Speech_Male> That's it <Speech_Male> for today. <SpeakerChange> Just a little <Speech_Male> Yankees conversation. <Silence> <Speech_Male> <Silence> Off season starting <Speech_Male> soon, man. <Speech_Male> I think we got <Speech_Male> what ten days, <Speech_Male> something like <Speech_Male> that, maybe even <Speech_Male> less than <SpeakerChange> that. I don't know. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> But we're going to have <Speech_Male> some more answers sooner <Silence> rather than later. <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> <Silence> And it's going to be <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> very important for <Speech_Male> the team to figure <Speech_Male> out what's going to <Speech_Male> be the story for <Speech_Male> 2022. <Speech_Male> Is Luke Voight here? <Speech_Male> Is there a judge going to be <Speech_Male> extended? What's the deal with <Speech_Male> Gary Sanchez? <Speech_Male> What's the deal with the laboratories? <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> What are we going to do? <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> It's usually maybe <Speech_Male> the full time first <Speech_Male> base from now. I don't <Speech_Male> know. Plus i've been talking for over two hours so i'm just gonna go ahead and mentioned very quickly about college. Football new top. Ten is out number one georgia after their impressive performance over kentucky remains number one. Don't see anybody beating them anytime soon until the championship game the sec championship game. Especially after florida. Lose into lsu. I'll get to in order to run at another time. Him in lsu splitting departing divorcing the end of the season. Cincinnati coming in at number two oklahoma number three caleb williams about that number four alabama that law texas m. already miss is meaningless. Ed number four. Ohio state good comeback after losing to oregon early in the season at number five number six michigan number seven penn state number eight oklahoma state. No chance number. Nine penn state no chance number ten oregon the loan. Pet ten squad. Who probably didn't have a chance of getting into the playoffs. Celtic wacky happens despite the fact that they beat ohio state at ohio state. It means more. I guess for those who are ranking to have oregon struggle with california then beating ohio state on the road earlier in the season so upcoming games in a couple of weeks. You've only be having michigan play michigan state. That's going to be interesting of those teams in the top. Ten who. I could say that there. I'll fraud in terms of being in the top ten. I think michigan state and oklahoma state are those two teams doesn't take anything. Away from mel tucker. What he's done with michigan state program. That has no business team being anywhere close. They shouldn't even be right number nine in their own conference let alone in the country so mel tucker had done an awesome job in oklahoma state with mike. Gundy you know he's going to be losing in the bedlam chewed out to oklahoma. So number two iowa drops to number eleven after losing to produce twenty four to seven at home last weekend we knew from an offensive standpoint that iowa was fraud kirk rents. It would be nice if you can actually get your office into the twenty first century. It'd be nice. This is one thousand nine hundred ninety six three yards and a cloud dusk and having a quarterback who is able to lead you to a championship. John times change but That's great gig. Every couple of years he wins eight or nine games and contract extensions. I mean that's the way that I will roles then. Kirk for instance that he'll be there forever because he has mastered the formula of you'd never gonna be able to compete on a consistent basis with with ohio state penn state and michigan nor should you but You know he brings them. These guys a freshman builds a month. Richardson does all these things. As a football program reminiscent of Wisconsin but remnants football programs back in the eighties. Where you were bringing these guys and you were redshirt him and you know you have strong offensive lines and strong defensive lines and strong defenses strong running games and when these redshirt freshman become twenty two twenty three year old seniors then now that's when they hit their peak and then you start the rebuilding process all over again you for a rose bowl appearance..

"Based on what we see with the Girardi dismissal and now with whatever's going on with Aaron Boone. So sadly, but then again, the Yankees were not expecting a managerial candidate like this to pop onto the market. I think we could agree with that. So maybe there's a little bit of a silver lining there where you're like, eh, maybe they could change their mind, but ultimately, no, I don't think so. Yeah, I mean, the age 13 game winning streak. I don't want to discount it just because I mean, obviously it is. It is a team of all stars doing what they were supposed to do the entire side. The opponents, though, are not pathetic. I kind of went into this being like, was that 13 game winning streak overblown because it was just a bunch of losers. Not really. On the road at the White Sox twice, two hard fought wins, come back, play the angels don't get a day off. The angels of the angels, whatever beat the Red Sox three times in two days, beat the twins three times the twins and twins, go to Atlanta beat the beat the braves twice with the highest team in baseball at that point. And are now in the NLCS and have the pitching to match beat Oakland on the road twice. Oakland was arguably hot at that point and is no longer in his has flamed out of the postseason. But it did take a lot of work. That was an impressive run from Aaron Boone's boys. But it was sort of it was a needed run to account for all this stuff. I wrote about Cody Bellinger, undoing his negative war last night by giving the Dodgers a win. So Aaron Boone winning that 13 games in a row was like undoing all the negative war he had provided earlier in the season to get him back to some zero. It wasn't really like terribly impressive. Cody Bellinger had negative 1.54 this year. And then one game above. Really? I would say too. He won game two in my opinion. All right, so then Cody Bellinger's up to two war. So good for one more. That's great. I don't know. I'm excited. I am excited about the weird direction the Yankees are taking. I can't help it. I'm a Yankee fan. I was ready to be angry when the off season began..

"I don't mind it, I guess as much as you do, but I would prefer that we get some legends and I would also like it if it wasn't always so outfield heavy. Weren't didn't always feel. So I would feel heavy because there's two cards I dropped in the last week that aren't bosses and the innings program. And man, I really want both of them, but I'm like, it feels like a waste of stuff. Even though I have plenty, but there's a really sick Cody Bellinger 99 card out there. But he's currently on for like 300,000, something like that. Maybe almost four. And I'm just like, there's so many outfielders. It's hard to justify spending that many subs I don't know if you're a 99 overall Christian yellow, so I'm a big yellow fan. So even though there's definitely not having the greatest year this year, but not in overall there. But again, I mean, he's actually pretty cheap. He's less than 80 K. Stop something like that. And I know some people are like 80,000 super cheap. But you know, I play the game it's on, so I can make that pretty quick. But it's also like, man, there's so many outfielders it's just hard to justify doing it. I might get questioned though, just because when I do the team infinities, I generally like to get a pretty love of team for each division. And I'm not quite there for the central. So I might do that. Yeah, I see what I am that I'm determined this year. This is the new year that I get all the bosses. For all 11 innings. Good luck. So I've got them all so far. So the first 6, got them all. And I just got to keep plugging away. The trick is to wait to almost the very end of the innings program to buy the other two..

"I i really feel like that. An unreported Underreported and You know under the radar injury that has had much bigger impact than i think. People realize jonathan low is going down for the yankees. What do you think absolutely. I mean i just really think it exposes that bullpen. And you know we've seen andrew heaney pitching. Even in baba appearances i think far more than yankees fans or anyone would expect to see him in there and you know with the bullpen. it's just such a ripple effect. I mean not having a guy who so important around the eighth inning. If you're winning a game likewise go and again with how chapman has looked might have been getting more of those chances in the closer role just brings and more and more guys. You don't necessarily want to see a narrow mean klay. Homes has been really good for the yankees. But it's thirteen appearances. I mean it don't know that he's not necessarily going to continue to do that. And if you look at their bullpen. You look at the names that are in there. It's just mean. Juan de peralta has been better than i ever expected him to be for them. But i just don't think you can be relying on guys like that when you're fighting for a playoff spot and as i was mentioning there on the downturn here but not when you're running up against an offense like the toronto blue jays you know we saw homes last night. Come in and get a couple outs. And then the you know the blue jays score run. it's it's gonna be difficult for them. And my friend bill chuck. Who's a loyal listener writes in the dodgers loss of. Aj pollick like the yankees lost civil wise. Agca therefore supply cody bellinger. Every day of the last fifteen days dodgers dating to five last in the majors leaving the pitching staff no room for. I think he's right. Sarah what do you think. Absolutely i mean when you mentioned to me before you wanna talk about politics. The first thing i did was pull up. Cody bellinger page. Because it really forces them to play him as bill saying there and you know a couple weeks ago. I think we had dave roberts basically saying that bellinger was going to be a platoon player. He's not able to do that anymore. Because pollick is out cody bellinger season. I mean i. I share this. I've looked at this so much. I can't figure. I can explain to you what's going on and i can explain to you why that means he's bad but i don't understand why what's going on is going on. I don't know if that makes sense but it's just so hard to look at a guy who was mvp caliber for a decent longtime enough to establish himself and see him not hitting the ball hard not making good contact whatsoever. I mean. I talked to you about these expected stats every now and then he is in the second person tile in expected batting average about is all the way it is blue on the top of the pages. Not what you want to see. Second person talents by two batting average a two one expected batting average that means that based on the contact. He's making he should be hitting about to a one. Usually i look to those for an optimistic view. Hey you know what. He's making better contact than he than he is getting results for. He's going to turn around. That is not the surround cody bellinger and having to put him out there every day. It's really really hurting them. Yeah and they're imposing pitchers in in big spots or just sat. Here you go. I'm gonna throw ninety five mile an hour top of the zone and you can't get to it because your swing so messed up all right. Sarah thanks for doing this. Travel about star bleacher.

"Because you deserve what's right. Laura hit the music. Greg go all right. L z. this just happened about forty five seconds. Ago cody bellinger. Just hit a grand slam. Eleven to one in the first inning. Why is this a big deal or now oh out is a big deal. You also has six is in the inning. Damn south by himself. And mookie betts has two hits. Wow that's that's probably as one. What's what's the record for most runs in one in one inning. I can look at. It's twenty two most runs in the first sitting. Let's try that see. What do you think i'm gonna go. Seventeen seventeen most runs in the first inning. They actually tied the record. It is eleven. Actually they said that same one in the nfc game three win. It's eighteen for any inning for the first step. I would say that this is a somewhat big deal. Bellinger needs to get back and really really get back to who he was and the dodgers since this giant series this past weekend having losing having lost three out of four and then now you know split right now with with the cardinals and last night was a really spectacular finish. Because i'm sure you guys saw mookie. Betts hit this laser down the left field line and it was caught right at the wall. Man it was a spectacular catch by o'neill and so you know they gotta get and back to who he was or who he really is because they're kind of fortunate right now. The dodgers are because the team chasing or the team. They're battling with the padres. Also losing a bunch of games right now and san francisco's back on top. They need bellinger. Yeah look dude. I mean first of all he is a big part of what they do so to have him healthy and hitting the ball and hit out of the yard gain. Six rpm is in one anything to get him going and get them going in the right direction consistently i think is a big deal so all right. What's next greg onto the next one right Capital start with you damian. Lillard last night sets record for three pointers in a playoff game last night. With twelve passing klay thompson. Is this a big deal or no deal. So i'm gonna say it's no deal. It was a spectacular individual performance and it was a very very entertaining. Game that went deep into double overtime. But i gotta just say no deal because it's in a losing effort. Now i'm not putting it on damian lillard. It was a spectacular individual performance. In fact even late in the game you know. I was watching last night george. I was watching sports center. I saw you on sportscenter. Neil evert said you know he got tired you know. He passed the ball. He gassed. i would think so. You know i just thought to myself. What an individual performance. It's unfortunate that it comes in a loss. So i'm choosing to go no deal. I'm going to say big deal. Only for this reason. It was a historic performance. He is the only player in nba playoff history to score fifty five points and have tennis in a loss. The only player in nba history to have that happen. So i'm gonna say big deal just based on that although it is weird l. z and. I'm curious your thoughts on it that you know. He's so clutch and so big in the big moments. That losing doesn't stick to him. The only guy that i can think of that is reggie miller and this is a huge deal Not just because of individual performance but as an extension of an individual's legend when it's all said and done he's always going to be in the hall of fame and he may or may not enter the championship. Who knows but since the first year he was in his league. He's been that dude and time and time again and he keeps showing up as that. Do that doesn't mean that he doesn't put up stinkers he does but to georgia's points we don't remember the stinkers because a nights like last night so at an amazing and it's a shame that there are years in which he has the bag to be on the all star team is crazy and i beg to get anybody to play with them. You know what. I'm saying like his. Gm has done him no No you know. Done them a disservice. I think they can't get anybody to play there with those rain along portland it does sure. That's a factor. Perhaps son is good. L z the oakland a.'s. Organization has some explaining to do pictures surfaced of what they feed their minor league affiliate including a white bread sandwich with no protein. And we'll look to be like a slice of american cheese and another picture showed a taco with a barely filled tortilla chicken and some peppers right. And that was. It is a big deal or no deal. This is a huge deal man like we already knew that major league baseball was treating may minor league baseball players trash based upon the compensation so we already knew but i didn't think it was this. This is almost as bad as a wnba. In the bubble having broken down showers and stuff with the league booked them with or the women's remember the weight as the gem. Right like is that level bad. This is ridiculous when you have players in the majors who literally make more than your entire collection of players in the minors. Then that's a problem. Yeah as a problem and this is not even food man. I'll you know what the call this is. You know what this is this pickles and pineapples. That's what this is. It's pretty terrible. I mean i looked at it. And i thought i thought the coleslaw looks pretty good but i mean i was like you know what the oakland as are known for being one of the cheapest organizations and people don't look at it that way they go. No they're resourceful. They have found ways to win without spending money and in reality not taking care of your minor leaguers. The guys that are supposed to eventually be your major leaguers as a major problem and then getting outed on at all. I mean is really an ugly. Look and you're right. Els people don't really know the dirty little secret of how rough life can be in the minor leagues. Oh it's awful. It's awful especially juxtaposed get it. You're in the minors. You're you're working your way up you try but you shouldn't have to also need to be onlyfans. Page noted get to rent paid Come on did you dump it. No no i would say big deal because the whole thing is a mess in the point like just the whole minor league system needs to be redone and done in a better way all right last one. Go ahead greg onto the next one that we go to break here low. You have no more questions i know. I've i've three more questions but day. I mean you amazon has sodano. Mark love the baseball too. Who does Molly predict? Who this year's World Series matchup? Well, I would have said the Dodgers for sure, but they've looked awful lately. I mean, I I who they're hurt their banged-up. I mean, Cody Bellinger broke his leg, we're gonna got Spike, so that's not great. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I'm going to say Yankees Dodgers. You're going to speak to any logos not into sports, like, I don't care. It's my show. And I like, talking about sports package, literally Yankees. And, and, and the Giants, and football, who's your NFL team? You don't have one, I grew up in L, didn't have like the NFL a, I mean, when I was, when there was no, there was a team, went out the Rams and the Raiders were around when I was a kid, like a small kid. But by the time I was like, eleven. They were ten. They were gone so long. I don't have it on FL team. I mean, like, I went to Stanford so I cheer for Stanford football but that's it. Like a couple of guys in the NFL like the way they play off. I thought it was you'll hate me for saying this cuz you're in New York guy. But I thought Tom Brady going to open winning was absolutely like the biggest heat like he is like a wrestling heel. This guy off. Is like, it's, it's unbelievable. You know, like, what you can do, I'm not. Like, I wouldn't say I'm a like a Brady, die-hard fan, but I just think it's, I think it's hilarious. That was the only cool thing for me Real Deal. Loved us right before I came on, I'm looking at my Twitter feed and I see Tim Tebow. This is working out as a tight end in the Jacksonville Jaguars are looking to sign him. So, wow, it's 20 21 and and we might be back in. Tebow Mania, which I think is just phenomenal. I mean, full-time, Masti real time. Will it be great if like LeBron James played tight end in the NFL for a year, or like, for Anthony Davis, or just like so gross? I hate it, but I would love it. I was going to say something to you. I just blanked on it, but getting back to baseball game. What do you think? How soon before we bring the robo omps? And is it just me? Or is the umpiring? The sheer like worse than ever. I there was a call last night, some guy was like running to first choice. I made a ball like a easy ground bottle of picture to put you through it to First and they said that they called the battery state cuz they said the picture was in the guy's way and the guy he was like not in the guys away at all. The strike zone has been terrible. I mean every day at time I look up like something bad is happening I Yeah, I think pitch, framing is just the worst thing that's happened in baseball, besides the, the extra-inning rule, I don't know. I, you probably need a guy back there, making sure there's no like real life malfunction, but I would like to see what, what are your thoughts on that?.

Dodgers' Bellinger has hairline fracture in left leg

"L. a. times the beat writer for the dodgers is reporting the dave roberts said that a recent test showed a hairline fracture in cody. Bellinger's leg and roberts says it's not a day to day thing. He said it's a fractured his left. Fibula show cody is not in the lineup. Obviously today no gavin lex today or aj pollick as well today tonight. Excuse me and this bellinger thing now that the dodgers have a lot of depth right. That guy's an mvp candidate right the last several years for the most part outside of a weird wacky season last year l. i. That is not the news you want to hear of your dodger fan.

"Sc was just mvp of the world series. East twenty six years. Old if you're gonna assign anyone to a term it's more justifiable to sign him than it is to sign. Mookie betts then to sign cody bellinger now. Did he have tommy john surgery. Yeah that was three years ago and that he come right back yeah would what he be wrong at his age for asking for what machado got ten years. Three hundred million or what. Mookie betts got twelve years three hundred and sixty five million. It's just hard to believe that they're gonna let him walk because they have lucks but you could happen and getting back to lend door with the mets i mean. There's there's literally zero chance. The mets traded for lender without the possibility of getting him inked up long-term that that is not something like that. I hope he signs no no no. He has decide and lindores recently when he was asked about. He said i've never been at against the an extension. I 'cause i'd never been against signing long term. So i mean he he could get a mookie betts type of deal a really good. If you think about a guy who needs an extension right now it would be him but it's not just young guys. You can look around and see like like guys like you know. Do you want to lock up a cabin. Oh in toronto. You wanna lock up a louise castio in cincinnati. I think the mariners would be very smart if they could get j. P crawford locked up as Their shortstop for the next five six years spirit thought for a guy who's been on the show had cold. It got really sick out better. Elsa loves cats. So i like that. But the mvp the national league freddie freeman. Did he do hit three forty one with thirteen home runs. He signed extension in february of two thousand fourteen for eight years. One hundred thirty five million and now. He's in that last year. Not many players get to sign to nine figure deals. It's hard to imagine the braves on in their blessed hitter. And their franchise icon. The made a resurgence chipper jones left. It's freddie freeman team. Even with great players like opinion others. But alex anthopoulos run things now and Freeman said. I think alex and everyone knows and the fans know. This is where i'd love to stay. It's his my home. This is all i've ever known. I know i only have one year left on my contract. We'll see how it goes that this team is built the win for a long time and i know that it's going to be a good ride. Hopefully that can be a part of it. Well how old is he. Ricky may ask. He's thirty one does not young by baseball standards but he's so immensely productive that it shouldn't cut into. I mean look at dj. Lemay dj lemay. He was a year older than him. It was the american league. Mvp the batting champ dj lemay. He just got ninety million for six years. So historically players with one year away from from free agency at that age don't usually get paid like that but if you think about the cardinals give them paul goldschmidt that five-year extension for one hundred and thirty million. What would freeman get to me. What i would do freeman if i was atlanta. I would just give him a even nice. Cool one hundred million dollar for your deal. Let them twenty five per and just add that in you get him until he's thirty six and then everybody's at right. I got it all figured out. All right i'm rick to the we'll take a quick break are still time to get in if you like at one..

"That was like two weeks. It's like the last month of the season in chicago. A lot of people forget about that number seventeen with the white sox playing right field at the agent. What do you think about. It tells you your thoughts on the kid. Well so i mean you hit the nail on the head transcended baseball. You know the iconic backwards at the most beautiful swing. We have ever seen to date. I don't know of anybody who has kind of them. And cody bellinger. You could see kind of tries to mimic it. A little bit One time i noticed. His stance is very similar to griffey's He's changed it up since then His swing is a little bit in that direction. But i think that might just be. Because he's a lefty But i think you can see. There are some inspiration drawn there which is obvious. You know the kid who grew up in an mlb clubhouse but i mean griffey had influence over an entire generation of fans the only other guy can think of who had that kind of influence was michael jordan and their contemporaries playing in the midnight in the nineties early two thousands for sure their contemporaries and and you know as like my you know every day every kid playing baseball wanted to be like griffey And you know one thing that. I don't know how well known. This is about. His influence on the game is that griffey is his approaching. Bud selig is the reason that a they have. Jackie robinson day where everybody wears number forty two and also the reason. The jackie robinson's number is is retired across major league baseball. That's right ken. Griffey junior had that idea brought it to bug the but see like and it was executed. So i mean more than just on the field he i guess that's mostly on the field. But across the entire game that he understood the importance of jackie robinson his life and the league and he felt like it was important enough that everybody should understand that. And i think it's great. I thought when. I heard that i thought it was amazing. Somebody who cares way more about way more things than just himself because it could have been easy for him to be selfish his entire career. Oh for sure you know and you can argue that there were times. Be everybody's got to be selfish at some point you know. When he asked out of seattle we saw the junior documentaries because he was miserable he was. We wanted to be with his family. And i can't fault that especially especially being a dad you know but you know this the impact that he had on my favorite team growing up the i. I've spoken to people over the last few years. It's like i don't know why honestly if you didn't grow up in the pacific northwest. Why anybody be manners fan and the same answer. Every time is i grew up watching griffey like there. You go there you go well. Any japan You know what. I mean any any. Yeah all of the ten all star teams. That's transcendent right there. That's that's how you become a fan of griffey if you didn't grow up there in any way. Green griffey jr wins. He just as a winner wins all of the things that you can win so the gold glove every single year. He was in seattle. Is exactly he wins. All the things you can win. it's the thing does. Yeah yep absolutely saved baseball in seattle. I mean we can't..

No knocking Bellinger's homer celebration in World Series

"Rod Cody bellinger hit what amounted to be the game winning homer during game seven of the. And probably separated his shoulder. Later, when he was celebrating with his team manager Dave Roberts conceded bellinger's not one hundred percent. He could have issue swinging the bat with that bump shoulders. Here's the question is if foul or fair to say, the dodgers will be better off sent him bellinger to the bench during the series. That's foul to that is a foul. I mean, this guy's a game changer I mean the plays that he makes them the outfield and he's already ran into a couple of them in the playoffs they ran into a big wouldn't just the other day you gotTa have been there. My only question is what's wrong. With Enrica, Hernandez the guy that gave him at four on they need to sit him down. He's letting too many ways McCoy, balance your. Line of the dodgers as talented. But this was rookie of the year and you also was an MVP and another thing speaking from a professional standpoint as the hitting coach when you have a guy that has an injury like that to the shoulder he kind of slows everything down swing blue shorter he gets off tonight in my opinion he's up something special in their series that would be corey bellinger.

Mike Trout rips cheating Astros, calls for bigger punishment

"Happy Spring Training has been so happy so far. No I was GONNA say being the leadoff hitter is generally a good thing but not if the leadoff hitter for the Astros in two thousand one that might be a little bit dicey so on Monday Mike. Trout spoke in baseball circles. I really feel like it's words that are being carved on tablets might trout use. The Word Cheat. He noted the absurdity of the advantage of knowing what pitch is coming at this Take Note Jim Crane any express frustration over the fact. The Astra's haven't been disciplined. He spoke forcefully as forcefully as he has an N. issue baseball. And if you're the astros in your angry the world right now this might be the moment that forces you to look in the mirror I really feel like when Clayton Kershaw sees about the said something the Astros might dismiss it as well. Those guys are sore losers because we beat them. When cody bellinger said something they might think. Well what are you talking about your strikeout machine? In the two thousand Seventeen World Series Boba shed Gleyber Torres. Come out and said things they might think. Shut up you too young to say anything. One might. Trout says something that has to resonate even with the most defying the Astros. Because not only is a great players you know. He's also incredibly respected within the sport and they know him as a great in accepting person and so i. I sent on twitter this morning. That it's like getting yelled at by your favorite uncle. There's just something to it. What do you think yeah no look? I Applied Mike Trout. You know he's not always a man of many words. That's for sure you know. I'm sure he considered beforehand. What he was going to say he obviously knew these questions or coming to him so he took obviously a very strong stance towards not only the Astros but towards the commissioner so as one of the faces of the game. I absolutely applaud him for coming down. Hard on everything that's happened. So tell me how you think he's. Words would go over with a George Springer and Altoona Bregman Carlos Correa marlins not on the Astros anymore but certainly saw him early this spring address this because I feel like that they would just listen and say nothing. It wouldn't be any complaints among the Astros and Mike. Trout speaks in this way. What do you think yeah? It's a good question. You know for all the apologies. We've now seen the Astros gives since that initial press conference. I still don't know if there's a lot of remorse or regret at least I haven't been down there in West Palm was Houston. But that's the feeling I get from far that they did it. They know they're supposed to apologize. But they're still feeling of. We got away with it. We one where the champs so be it So I don't think that feeling of remorse. Is there now. Is that going to change? Because Mike Trout says he's lost respect for them. Probably not you would hope they. Would you know do a little inner self reflecting and sink a little more about their actions? But I think they're also it's also easy to say. This happened in two thousand seventeen. We don't care moving on and maybe that's what the sport itself does need to do at some point this spring and I feel like that is best for the Astros at this point. Let's face it. They've taken a lot of incoming shots they punch back the other day. I think it's time for them to stop worrying about trying to save what they've already loss. You know watching Carlos Correa over the weekend pushed back a talk about individual situations in the world series when they weren't cheating and I I thought it was absurd. Yes we were cheating in the first inning the second and third inning but in that run-scoring spot in the fence. We weren't cheating you know and to extend my a comparison the astros with someone who cheated in neighborhood poker game. Can you imagine if someone said? Yeah we dealt from the bottom of the deck with firsthand second anther. We played that fourth. Hand straight up like other players. Don't WanNa hear that and I feel like that while Carlos was passionate in trying to absolve Jose altuve and trying to draw lines. It's a waste of time. Their legacies in cement. It's over in terms of the Court of public opinion. No absolutely and we all know. There's only one solution for the Astros and that's to go out and win the World Series in twenty twenty and at least remove the cloud of suspicion for this season. When we're pretty sure they're not gonNA Poll any shenanigans released today extent. They have that is the only way two thousand seventeen as you said that legacy is incident. You know it's always GonNa be be doubt now. They're going to go out and prove that they actually are as good as we think they. They are at least as good as they've been the last three years

Dodgers complete deal for Betts, Price

"Hairston junior of course former major league player world champion with the Yankees And of course the dodgers address analysts for Spectral Sports Net L. A. Jerry. Welcome to the PODCAST. How you doing very well very well? Yes on in Wednesday afternoon four o'clock eastern time. The big press conference at Dodger Stadium. Yes mookie Betts and David price coming to Los Angeles. I know you got to like train and your thoughts. I'm extremely excited. You know the dodgers the last few years. I've put themselves in position to possibly win a world series. It hasn't happened but I really believe adding guy like Mookie Betts in my opinion five baseball ballplayer all in all the major leagues. Excellent top of the order hitter. You know I think this is. He's kind of like the generations. Ricky Henderson excellent speed is they're gonNA NOT GONNA steal a hundred thirty basis because nobody does that anymore really. Nobody did that with ricky played But he gives you speed at the top power A great outfielder in right field. And you put him in the lineup with next month cody bellinger Justin Turner And so on and so forth this is arguably the best lineup and all of baseball and then add to This dodge rotation healthy David Price. Who Brings in championship type pedigree and I really believe? He's GonNa be pitching with a chip on his shoulder. I'm having something to prove the season so I'm excited for the dodgers and the city of La. Jerry dodgers needed a good right handed bat. That lineup is loaded with lefties. This bets bets is going to help that isn't he. Absolutely you know anytime you get a chance to Have the best players in all of baseball. And you're on your lineup. She'd He'd be in your lineup. It's GONNA help but you're always looking for balance and you know like you mentioned. The dodgers were heavy left handed The last two years with Jock Petersen Jason Cory seager cody bellinger Max money. There's nothing wrong with having left handed power but you WANNA kinda offset that a little bit especially with the emergence of Gavin Luxa the new Start second base going to the dodgers have. He's a left handed batter. So you WanNa make sure you balanced when you're facing writings and left these Throughout the season the playoffs so why not not get arguably the best right handed hitting outfielder outside of my trout in base going. That's looking back and Jerry. You don't look at this as as has some sort of rental you don't make a trade for guy player like Mookie Betts and not be willing to sign this guy who can be a free agent. After next year you fully the expect. The dodgers to ante up and paid has got to be a dodger for a long time. Don't you absolutely I liken this to like an Anthony Davis you you know you. Trade for Anthony Davis get him in the fold let them see. La Let him be Laker and see how great it is to be living in La very similar with mookie Betts. You get him over here here. Let them play in this ballpark. Be a dodger Every day Get accustomed to you know the lifestyle. LA which. Really second to none. Being in the bright lights of Hollywood. I I think he's going to love it here and WanNa sign back and certainly. The dodgers have the resources to sign a guy like me or about so. Hopefully he's comfortable here which I think he will be. And we'll love to play here because everybody played here including myself has a loved. But I'm not putting on that dodger. Blue Guess on inside the park a podcast is of course Jerry Hairston junior former major league player and analyst for the dodgers in their TV broadcasts The other part is MOOKIE BETTS AND PRICE COM from Boston and they're under a cloud of suspicion. They're under investigation for what went down with their ex manager. Now Alex Cora and the dodgers chargers got a bronco event they lost in the world series in two thousand eighteen to the red sox. Where do you make of that? Where Mookie Betts and David Price could possibly be implemented uh implicated and talk about that they took part in what could wind up being yet? Another cheating scandal baseball. Well you know what I've heard it. You know before the the commissioner ruled on the Astros. We'd heard rumblings for a couple of weeks. What was coming down the road and we knew it was pretty pretty bad We know that the commission she's GonNa ruin the red SOx pretty pretty quickly. That's what we're hearing And we've also heard it's not nearly as bad as the Astros so I'm kind of banking on that anytime you play a team in the world series and the Super Bowl or the or the NBA finals. You WanNa make sure both sides are on the up and up. And I'm hoping that was the case with the with the Red Sox I'm hoping Alex Cora bidding implement everything that he has with Houston in Boston but that's yet to be seen But you know now that is the guys like Bats and David Price on the fold You gotta wait and see. I'm hoping they weren't a part of it. Obviously David price being a pitcher. Sure certainly wasn't that part of it because it was on the offensive side of the ball. And I'm hoping mookie wasn't in wasn't a part of that as well so that's got to be seen Bob Open for the good in
