The hair is were you. Were you ever a long haired guy before this. I can't remember you being a long haired guy either. I had long hair in awe at some point in high school but it was bad. You know what happens. When is the transition occur where he like you know what fuck it. We're going lettuce well. Last year was a little bit when when it was code. I didn't want to get a haircut. You know what i mean. I didn't want to fucking erica. You while the stadium. We do now so i don't have an excuse but it was. It was curly. Like omelette ryan and You know this year. I don't know. I got a haircut like right before the season to even it all out and i'm just gonna let it ride every short haired guy. That goes the the lettuce route. Has a hair mentor somewhere. Along the line where it's like. You gotta use this product. You gotta use this comb. You gotta use conditioner shampoo who who has been your hair mentor. Because i can't imagine that you've gone on this journey by yourself. Definitely not actually my girlfriend and her sister okay. Both got wavy hair. They they know they know all the they know everything about it. You know so. They've they've been a mentor or are you leaving condition guy. You'll even guy. Yeah yeah. I i have absolutely charming. Hey that's a fuck enough power leaving conditioner that that that's like a secret that girls keep like i didn't know about that until this year and then i started using it will garnier fruit teas free free ad for them. But i throw that in there. It's it's a difference maker. It isn't it is all right. So the dodgers right now. You guys just wrapped up a series against houston where we out in the standings here. 'cause i know now. The giants have been a problem. Dallas has been this year. I know dallas has been saying that the downfall the giants is coming. We haven't seen it so right now. The dodgers sit three and a half. Back of the san francisco giants. Is it weird for you to finally be chasing team for the first time in your career your first time in my career. It is a little different It's it's pretty exciting I think you know from what. I can remember the series giants. This is the first year where like every game matters in. You know you scoreboard watching a little bit in in our in august now but steadily steadily Different for me. Like what are you. What are you thinking when you watch the front office. Make the move that they've just let me. The dodgers are picking up fucking cy young winners like their spilt tick tax on the foia. Oh here let me let me these here. Here's another one. Oh their shares are so like how like what's going through your nugget when you see this unfold you like. Oh fuck yeah. It's game time. I mean i knew a few days before it was a possibility. And we're like that would be ridiculous. Know what i mean. But he was in the know a little bit whereas like this could definitely possibly happen. where were we when we i think we're flying we're flying back home When the news broke so We're just on a plane celebrating. It was cool time. Like i mean i would imagine being a dodger during this time like you came up in. The dodgers are obviously like a first class organization with a rich history. But you have been at the epicentre of this. Run of the dodgers dominance. Does it still like. Does it lose any of its luster or excitement. When it's like got another fucking cy young award winner like here. We go like like every single year. You're expecting to contend every single year. You have a great team. And the dodgers go out and make a great team even greater every single year. Yeah i mean it was. Your question is does does it. Does it still. Is it still as exciting as it was like when you first came up and it's like oh we added mukhi. Oh yeah did so. And so and it's like. Oh we got fucking max scherzer. I think You don't become numb to the feeling it's definitely exciting. I don't know. I don't know i mean it's just like all now we have like the missing pieces. You know what i mean so yeah. You definitely definitely doesn't get old the vibe the vibe from the fans and just being out here in the bay area right deal with a lot of fans from san francisco and they're bitter they're little bitter about feel like you're playing second fiddle in this whole rivalry game now because they've watched the padres come in and take the league by storm. They've watched the back and forth. That have occurred between the dodgers and padres. Like is there any sense of a a new kid on the block when it comes to that rivalry like because you just made the comment. Like fuck these games against the giants. Now they kinda matter every one of them hasn't necessarily been that way but the friars and all of them boys they're heating shit up so is there a. Is there a new sense like yo. We might have to be paid attention to both of these dogs. Oh one hundred percent. I think We noticed that this offseason when they went out and got all the guys they did. We news it was probably going to be the hardest division. I saying it is in what they are. And how many games back I mean we knew going into the season that it was going to be a challenge and it definitely has lived up to that hype so when you're out there you know he's talked about the giants we've talked about the padres. I feel like because the dodgers are on top coming off a championship in fifty straight years of winning the division. Like i feel like if you're on the dodgers you almost don't see other teams as a rival. You're just like everyone's arrival. We're just trying to stay on top. I feel like it's more to the giants into the padres at that point where they see the dodgers as a rival like. Do you feel like when you're playing those teams that. There is a heightened sense of urgency or a heightened sense of competition when you're playing the giants and the padres in in. Which one do you feel like is more intense. Yeah definitely. I think we kind of always have that feeling. No matter who we play that. The team's gonna know come out and try and beat us. You know whether it's the third charter. The fist started on random wednesday. You know he'd get the dudes best stuff and But i'll say that it definitely is you know the individual games definitely matter. You know what i mean like. There's no there's no way around it so yeah i would say is definitely heightened. Do you guys like as a position player group ever just sit back and climbed to laugh and chuckle at the moves. That have been made for you. Guys on the mound. And do you ever like like when max is getting ready. Are you guys watching him for the first time or you just. Because he's a fucking weirdo. And i absolutely love that. Just i know him. By proxy having kurt suzuki told me a lot about how this dude goes about how he prepares and so. I'm really intrigued by dudes like that like did you ever you find yourselves going like yeah. What's he gonna do today. Like what are you got. What do you think we're about to feature right now. Yeah i mean we kinda. We have some intense starters. You know what i mean and so we kinda had to get around the questions like do we say hi you know how is it will start but he is. He is focused. You know what i mean like. He is focused on his job all day. It's pretty cool to see. And then i had a pretty cool via now sitting on the dugout. In the seventh-inning you got that standing ovation of cool man. It was it was cool. Whom only be apart. I i know that like most starters are pretty intense on start day. Is there anyone. That is approachable on. Start day that you've ever come across. Where like he doesn't want to be left alone in the zone. No one talk to me like like. Have you ever had a team like that. Yeah some guys are all day long and then there are the seat. I've had a few words. I uta them all the way up until like an hour. You know what i mean like until they had the jersey on.

You're going to be like. Hey hey jared. What are we gonna do playoff coverage dallas. You're not in the fucking imply because you weren't prepared for for august and september. You had your head jammed up your kieser thinking about what was coming next. I feel like i feel like you're you're the kid right now in san lot where they're trying to evaluate how to kill the beast like how to get the ball back and he just got hit with the sack of flour or whatever i don't know what fucking blew up on him and he's going about this all wrong. Yeah you are. Just you're fully book. Is it because i'm appalled. I'm appalled that your behavior. we should be. We should be on the same side here we are. I am we. We will be convincing at all. "A cocktail corier dot com. I didn't want to move on from that. Met series with the phillies. Just yet because we got to. We've got a f- fillet joe. Zack wheeler mar. Yeah cg shut yeah. He's very emotional. Day pretty awesome day bills fans and even the phillies fans. Who didn't get to go to the ballpark We saw videos on on the tweet box of an awesome set. Homeys altogether who hung a roy. Halladay jersey up on their. Lamppost stood back. Listen to the national anthem. Played hands over the hearts i. It was a beautiful beautiful scene. That was unfolding in the ballpark as well on a day. Where you're retiring roy. Holidays jersey you. You only have one option. And that's to go out and absolutely shove. Like what else could you possibly to. And that's exactly what zack wheeler did. Cg showpiece levin punches dude was buckets of filth. After the first batter game he retired. Twenty two straight. Men's yeah twenty. Two in a row The most retired. But if bill's starter sense roy holidays perfect game. If i mean that's awesome. How how who is that the coolest you know. You've got the hand of the dock reaching down through the clouds. Just make sure everything is right in your world like you are on the mound on the day that a baseball god is being celebrated like good things happen to good people. And it's even better. That zack wheeler who had just gotten breaded up by the fills. So hey you man this electric bucking on. We've been watching. We want you on our hill leading our charge into october. Sound good sounds fantastic. That's what he did but the clothes on his back. Let's roll on a day. Where i said man you got that kind of emotion as a pitcher when something like that's happening like it's just like you feel it because you don't want to go out there and shit the bed absolutely do not want to do now so not only does he go out and shove for a team who has pegged him as the tip of their spear he does it against a club not necessarily the same movers and shakers in the front office but.

"That's where the mets red sox are still kind of fortunate enough to have built up as big of elite as they did on on the yankees together fucking ten three against them. Whatever the fuck it is. There's there's only three teams in the national league with a run differential of one hundred or more runs and they're all ls. You got it. San francisco one. Thirty dodgers one. Seventy one san diego at one. Oh to do you think. The world series winner comes out of the national league this year. Dallas you're the fucking balls to say that you think there's there's no fucking chance that the world series trophy resides in the american league this year. That's what you said. No that's not what i said at all. I think that's how you said know Man man he put me in a tough spot. There put me in a tough spot. All your credibility is on the line. What are little all very little all your years of playing and now all your years of being a broadcaster in a baseball analyst. All that is on the line here. Which league wins the world series in two thousand twenty one dude. I hate to even. I hate to even like i hate to even sir. I'm not gonna say here's the thing. I'm not going to be baited it. I i mean. I'm just as attached to use anything else like if if no one takes us seriously anymore. They're not gonna take this podcast seriously. And i gotta find a new job. I want you to be right here. But what fucking league dallas you. Have you have the balls to say that that. The american league is going to win the world series this year when i look at the american league And i think about the best offenses in the american league. I think about some of the best oftens in the nationally and i think about those offenses in the national league being given an extra hitter which obviously means the team in the american league would have to deal with not having one of their best hitters obviously designated to do the hitting and then i i think what maybe what's easier to adjust and i think with some of the lineups we have here. I would be inclined to say the national league could very well have a chance to hold the trophy at the end of the season. there is. I'm inclined to say that you're inclined to say that but you won't say it. I mean there's just certain things that i just can't give to certain i just can't i'm not willing to do. I will allow my homered them to to affect that. I will be totally open and honest count that now my my homer ism a thousand percent will impact. My decision does impact. Where do you think it's coming out of I mean the best teams are in the national league this year. what i mean which you'll like you to like chicago white sox rotation i do. I think that that's one team that i mean they. Don't get a lotta love. They don't really talk about them and they're not taking them serious because they've just because everybody knows first of all they're the only team right now with a fucking multi digit game lead in their division socks. That's fine but that's a big part of why nobody's taking them seriously is because everybody's looking at what you're up ten twelve on. Who cleveland detroit. Ken and so you're just kind of getting laughed at on her way into the postseason. And that's a hell of a spot to be at if you're on. The south side being laughed into the playoffs. Don't take me serious all the way to a division title. No problem no problem. If you're telling me. I can just basically throw it in neutral and coast down this second. Half hill outstanding. I'll save gas. And i'll see in october. The chicago white sox have turn half game lead. No one else in the division has a winning record. No one else has a run differential. That's positive it's a it's a shitty division. But i don't want that to be a reason. Why people discredit the chicago white sox. They're a good team and a great team. They're getting lou bob back. Maybe they're lubov coming back. Allies back to dude lance more. The bucket balloon. It's a good team g elites the really good team synthesised with mean. Come on bro. You got the white sox plan. The houston astros in the american league championship series. You hey whoa whoa on hypothetical here you the chicago white sox playing the houston astros and a best seven american league championship series. And you're telling me that you're the white sox didn't tell you that okay all right. I'm just asking. Tell you that. I got asked the questions i got asked the questions. I did not want to be doing my job. I didn't. I wouldn't be doing my job if i didn't tell you that. August sixteenth national rumgay. It is national run into celebrate. Our partner goslings rum introduced the endless summer. Pinochle lada cocktail kit book jared. I'm here for the coladas. Yeah you got.

"He's actually throwing the ball. Well i believe the braves. The braves the i mean if if rotation looks decent. They've been working with the fucking iron. Long max freed. Obviously the ian anderson is still on the injured list true smiley. I don't know the the in l. east. oh man like why can't the phillies ride. This wave right now they can. I'm no. I'm not saying that. I have never used the word fluke with the phillies. I think they were. They've always been a good team. That's been underachieving like since since the fucking bryce harper signing they've been a good team that has underachieved and had a dog shit bullpen that they allowed to let sink ship. And right now. I mean on paper the vilis the phillies might ever better team than the mets. I don't know. And i don't really. Yeah i don't think that's i don't think that that's wild. I think it's close. I think it's close like statistically performing right now or just what you're saying yeah. I got a slight nod. Who you know. Who would really make that philly lineup go. And he's a he leads. The team in fucking homers. I believe the sector stinger the most electric dugout personality in the game. Right now risque yeah. Did you see his his reaction when bryce harper hit that home over the weekend. Oh my god. There's a great shot. It was like a side. Angle harper from the left side hits the homer and the phillies dugout is behind harbor. And you see harper will watch a ball to the moon and then immediately zooms in on resource kevin. Spacey's i'd much like the most dallas reaction of all time and yeah. No it's it's a scene right now. They're feeling themselves. And the mets. The mets are trying to stay positive. I saw pete alonzo said like you know. We'll be fine. Everyone just needs to smile pedro. That's the thing about pete. Lonzo is like at times. You think he's perfect for the mets and for like the new york market and he says stuff like that. You gotta know that you can't say that and that movement guys we were just we just had a four-game lead in first place in our and third place but you just gotta smile Well i mean i the third-place thing is like look. You could win win a ball game and and that kind of changes right. Yeah you can. They could be. i mean. come on you went to ballgame instead of place. Yeah you're not in various. No you're not in i but it's easy does easy as a series for the mets. Be able to turn it around. They're gonna be fine. The mets are off today. By the way we're gonna be fine. I i really want. I really want the new york mets to win this division. Jared i really want the new york mets to. I didn't do to be good. I do too like i wanted. I wanted the mets to not necessarily be a juggernaut but the the whole narrative of Like this would have been the year for the mets to be great because the yankees were so dog. Shit in the first half where i would've loved the mets to have their victory parade of where the where new york's team. Now you know the degrom injury changes so much. Well that's that's the is like wednesay coming back and for how long that is such a huge deal because you get back for like a month and a half six seven starts. Maybe and you're like oh okay. If that's at the right time like if the mets can each in to the post season where you can now like sort of handpick where you're going to deploy degrom. Yeah that's not a bad place to be well. That's that's why that's why winning that division is so important. Yes so you're not dealing with the one gamer not even like there's not going to be an l. east representative in the wildcard game. Like you need to win the division. If you plan on going to the post he is because of that panel l. west playoff picture. Like sorry like the padres are are trying to fend off the the reds who have been fucking red hot too. They've won five straight. They've been an awesome second half team the cincinnati reds right. Now two and a half back of the padres for that second wildcard spot And then you've got the braves who are six and a half back. The mets are seven games. Back of the second wildcard spot. So crazy how you can just snap your fingers and like the mets went from four games up to now seven games back of a second wildcard spot. You know you're warming mean you just again. You had to know after a certain point in time with the way the west is shaped up like it's division or bust. That is what it is. I mean you could say the same for for the nfl central. I guess but i mean at least like two and a half back with no teams in front of you if you're the reds that's not the worst spot to be in. I think we can all acknowledge that the padres have the better team. But i mean we just saw it. We've seen it twice now in the second half that if you're a first place team and you have a couple of shitty weeks and everyone else around you flip a switch and gets hot. Guess what you're on the outside looking in pal..

"Very quietly. But i think now people are going to start to notice now that the phillies are first place but bryce harper sitting three to get on base at a four thirteen clip Five seventy slug ninety three oh. Ps she's got twenty bombs twenty six doubles bags. He's fucking stolen twelve bags this year for him. Love to see that. Yeah surprise operas get into done. But yeah i mean i think that if were i don't know what the odds are as of today vegas wise but i have to still. I mean i'm not. I'm not trying to shit on the phillies parade right now for winning eighth straight and getting into first place. I'm just saying if today all the credit in the world for getting first place but the braves have endured so much. This year are no like how long is it sustainable. I guess it's not like it's not like they're not the team that just one eighth straight. What what's who. What's what's the rotation looking like. They got chuck. Mo- freed Anderson is he hurt. And noah's hurt. You said right still hurt so over there. They've got another lefty over there. Don't they tuckey too key to sant- kyle muller.

No knocking Bellinger's homer celebration in World Series
"Rod Cody bellinger hit what amounted to be the game winning homer during game seven of the. And probably separated his shoulder. Later, when he was celebrating with his team manager Dave Roberts conceded bellinger's not one hundred percent. He could have issue swinging the bat with that bump shoulders. Here's the question is if foul or fair to say, the dodgers will be better off sent him bellinger to the bench during the series. That's foul to that is a foul. I mean, this guy's a game changer I mean the plays that he makes them the outfield and he's already ran into a couple of them in the playoffs they ran into a big wouldn't just the other day you gotTa have been there. My only question is what's wrong. With Enrica, Hernandez the guy that gave him at four on they need to sit him down. He's letting too many ways McCoy, balance your. Line of the dodgers as talented. But this was rookie of the year and you also was an MVP and another thing speaking from a professional standpoint as the hitting coach when you have a guy that has an injury like that to the shoulder he kind of slows everything down swing blue shorter he gets off tonight in my opinion he's up something special in their series that would be corey bellinger.

Mike Trout rips cheating Astros, calls for bigger punishment
"Happy Spring Training has been so happy so far. No I was GONNA say being the leadoff hitter is generally a good thing but not if the leadoff hitter for the Astros in two thousand one that might be a little bit dicey so on Monday Mike. Trout spoke in baseball circles. I really feel like it's words that are being carved on tablets might trout use. The Word Cheat. He noted the absurdity of the advantage of knowing what pitch is coming at this Take Note Jim Crane any express frustration over the fact. The Astra's haven't been disciplined. He spoke forcefully as forcefully as he has an N. issue baseball. And if you're the astros in your angry the world right now this might be the moment that forces you to look in the mirror I really feel like when Clayton Kershaw sees about the said something the Astros might dismiss it as well. Those guys are sore losers because we beat them. When cody bellinger said something they might think. Well what are you talking about your strikeout machine? In the two thousand Seventeen World Series Boba shed Gleyber Torres. Come out and said things they might think. Shut up you too young to say anything. One might. Trout says something that has to resonate even with the most defying the Astros. Because not only is a great players you know. He's also incredibly respected within the sport and they know him as a great in accepting person and so i. I sent on twitter this morning. That it's like getting yelled at by your favorite uncle. There's just something to it. What do you think yeah no look? I Applied Mike Trout. You know he's not always a man of many words. That's for sure you know. I'm sure he considered beforehand. What he was going to say he obviously knew these questions or coming to him so he took obviously a very strong stance towards not only the Astros but towards the commissioner so as one of the faces of the game. I absolutely applaud him for coming down. Hard on everything that's happened. So tell me how you think he's. Words would go over with a George Springer and Altoona Bregman Carlos Correa marlins not on the Astros anymore but certainly saw him early this spring address this because I feel like that they would just listen and say nothing. It wouldn't be any complaints among the Astros and Mike. Trout speaks in this way. What do you think yeah? It's a good question. You know for all the apologies. We've now seen the Astros gives since that initial press conference. I still don't know if there's a lot of remorse or regret at least I haven't been down there in West Palm was Houston. But that's the feeling I get from far that they did it. They know they're supposed to apologize. But they're still feeling of. We got away with it. We one where the champs so be it So I don't think that feeling of remorse. Is there now. Is that going to change? Because Mike Trout says he's lost respect for them. Probably not you would hope they. Would you know do a little inner self reflecting and sink a little more about their actions? But I think they're also it's also easy to say. This happened in two thousand seventeen. We don't care moving on and maybe that's what the sport itself does need to do at some point this spring and I feel like that is best for the Astros at this point. Let's face it. They've taken a lot of incoming shots they punch back the other day. I think it's time for them to stop worrying about trying to save what they've already loss. You know watching Carlos Correa over the weekend pushed back a talk about individual situations in the world series when they weren't cheating and I I thought it was absurd. Yes we were cheating in the first inning the second and third inning but in that run-scoring spot in the fence. We weren't cheating you know and to extend my a comparison the astros with someone who cheated in neighborhood poker game. Can you imagine if someone said? Yeah we dealt from the bottom of the deck with firsthand second anther. We played that fourth. Hand straight up like other players. Don't WanNa hear that and I feel like that while Carlos was passionate in trying to absolve Jose altuve and trying to draw lines. It's a waste of time. Their legacies in cement. It's over in terms of the Court of public opinion. No absolutely and we all know. There's only one solution for the Astros and that's to go out and win the World Series in twenty twenty and at least remove the cloud of suspicion for this season. When we're pretty sure they're not gonNA Poll any shenanigans released today extent. They have that is the only way two thousand seventeen as you said that legacy is incident. You know it's always GonNa be be doubt now. They're going to go out and prove that they actually are as good as we think they. They are at least as good as they've been the last three years
Dodgers complete deal for Betts, Price
"Hairston junior of course former major league player world champion with the Yankees And of course the dodgers address analysts for Spectral Sports Net L. A. Jerry. Welcome to the PODCAST. How you doing very well very well? Yes on in Wednesday afternoon four o'clock eastern time. The big press conference at Dodger Stadium. Yes mookie Betts and David price coming to Los Angeles. I know you got to like train and your thoughts. I'm extremely excited. You know the dodgers the last few years. I've put themselves in position to possibly win a world series. It hasn't happened but I really believe adding guy like Mookie Betts in my opinion five baseball ballplayer all in all the major leagues. Excellent top of the order hitter. You know I think this is. He's kind of like the generations. Ricky Henderson excellent speed is they're gonNA NOT GONNA steal a hundred thirty basis because nobody does that anymore really. Nobody did that with ricky played But he gives you speed at the top power A great outfielder in right field. And you put him in the lineup with next month cody bellinger Justin Turner And so on and so forth this is arguably the best lineup and all of baseball and then add to This dodge rotation healthy David Price. Who Brings in championship type pedigree and I really believe? He's GonNa be pitching with a chip on his shoulder. I'm having something to prove the season so I'm excited for the dodgers and the city of La. Jerry dodgers needed a good right handed bat. That lineup is loaded with lefties. This bets bets is going to help that isn't he. Absolutely you know anytime you get a chance to Have the best players in all of baseball. And you're on your lineup. She'd He'd be in your lineup. It's GONNA help but you're always looking for balance and you know like you mentioned. The dodgers were heavy left handed The last two years with Jock Petersen Jason Cory seager cody bellinger Max money. There's nothing wrong with having left handed power but you WANNA kinda offset that a little bit especially with the emergence of Gavin Luxa the new Start second base going to the dodgers have. He's a left handed batter. So you WanNa make sure you balanced when you're facing writings and left these Throughout the season the playoffs so why not not get arguably the best right handed hitting outfielder outside of my trout in base going. That's looking back and Jerry. You don't look at this as as has some sort of rental you don't make a trade for guy player like Mookie Betts and not be willing to sign this guy who can be a free agent. After next year you fully the expect. The dodgers to ante up and paid has got to be a dodger for a long time. Don't you absolutely I liken this to like an Anthony Davis you you know you. Trade for Anthony Davis get him in the fold let them see. La Let him be Laker and see how great it is to be living in La very similar with mookie Betts. You get him over here here. Let them play in this ballpark. Be a dodger Every day Get accustomed to you know the lifestyle. LA which. Really second to none. Being in the bright lights of Hollywood. I I think he's going to love it here and WanNa sign back and certainly. The dodgers have the resources to sign a guy like me or about so. Hopefully he's comfortable here which I think he will be. And we'll love to play here because everybody played here including myself has a loved. But I'm not putting on that dodger. Blue Guess on inside the park a podcast is of course Jerry Hairston junior former major league player and analyst for the dodgers in their TV broadcasts The other part is MOOKIE BETTS AND PRICE COM from Boston and they're under a cloud of suspicion. They're under investigation for what went down with their ex manager. Now Alex Cora and the dodgers chargers got a bronco event they lost in the world series in two thousand eighteen to the red sox. Where do you make of that? Where Mookie Betts and David Price could possibly be implemented uh implicated and talk about that they took part in what could wind up being yet? Another cheating scandal baseball. Well you know what I've heard it. You know before the the commissioner ruled on the Astros. We'd heard rumblings for a couple of weeks. What was coming down the road and we knew it was pretty pretty bad We know that the commission she's GonNa ruin the red SOx pretty pretty quickly. That's what we're hearing And we've also heard it's not nearly as bad as the Astros so I'm kind of banking on that anytime you play a team in the world series and the Super Bowl or the or the NBA finals. You WanNa make sure both sides are on the up and up. And I'm hoping that was the case with the with the Red Sox I'm hoping Alex Cora bidding implement everything that he has with Houston in Boston but that's yet to be seen But you know now that is the guys like Bats and David Price on the fold You gotta wait and see. I'm hoping they weren't a part of it. Obviously David price being a pitcher. Sure certainly wasn't that part of it because it was on the offensive side of the ball. And I'm hoping mookie wasn't in wasn't a part of that as well so that's got to be seen Bob Open for the good in

You have to balance those things, and you learn overtime where that line is returned through the hash Browns, like we've got a flight to London. Catch. How about that? Well, we got one last one here drew wants to wants you to update your sei-yung MVP and World Series winners based on what we've seen in the first half of the season. Oh, goodness. I saw this. I saw that, that this has been asked. I think late last night and, you know, I realized I should have looked at just really hoping I wouldn't pick it. No, I that's one of those ones where I see it. And I think, oh, I got a look that up and then the morning comes and something else comes up, and I don't think about it, Cody Bellinger. I mean it's Cody Bellinger, Christian yelich. What else can I say? Well, you know, I'll, I'll bet you trust in the answers here. If you wanna, you know, go for think about it a little more, but I would definitely I would go yelich right now. I would go with Ryu as my young winner in the NFL it now for AL I think, just based on the buzz and and, you know, we've been talking about so much. I think you gotta get Lucas Julieta the not here. And for Allen, VP, ah mister, DJ make you. I mean he's the here. Oh, you're not on the LeMay huband wagon r you. It's not necessarily best player. It's who why are they in first place right now? It's because of the Mayhew because everybody else's been injured. Voters for that be are not necessarily picking the best player picking the one that the, you know, got the buzz and in, I'm supporting that we'll bring I'm gonna go dodgers over twins right now. But, you know, things can change. I can't even begin to make I see your point on LeMay. Hugh, I've heard this argument made he's not an empty. I hate voting for VP this way. Trout. It's trout. Ghetto fans the MVP because we don't more that it's not a real thing. These are actual tangible awards. I think he's got the best shot right now. They voted today he would win. I, I, I can't do I wouldn't vote for him. I think it's the best player, you know..

"Startup feel in the in the case like as are asking questions and comparing notes, and talking about how they're gonna that night starter. And, you know, using any technology help kinda give them as much of an edge going into the game as they can. And so that's been fostered, and it's continuing to grow. And I think it's given our guys some, some more confidence, and it's been really fun to watch. So now is a really smart answer, and it was a really smart discussion that you were having there and then I'm going to be that jerk goes and asks you about the fans running onto the field chasing after Cody Bellinger. I agree. That is. I mean. Going on here. I. You know you see at once and like, oh, that not great. And if it led to something that, and you see it the next night, and then the next night, it is scary. And obviously, you know, for people who are old enough to remember the Monica Selous thing, these guys, you know, potentially risk when that happens and took doing all we can ensure their safety is paramount, obviously, the last three nights of innocent nature, but you don't know, when that's gonna change and it's just not a risks cash should be taking on what can you do. It's tough. I mean, obviously beef up the security and but there's even with that there's going to be entry point where people can I guess it's also about making penalties harsh enough. You know, right now, it's been, you know, kinda cute and funny and people are laughing about it a little bit. And. Making it harsher I guess would deter more people. But it's a tricky thing that is much more front and center now being that this is happening the last three days to wrap arms around to show. I am to remember the Monica Seles thing, and I remember doing a story with her. She came through LA a little while afterwards and it was one of her comeback spots. But like if you if you saw what happened for the and for those who don't remember, like a fan ran onto onto the tennis court and stabbed her like it was a fan was a deranged fan, obviously. But you're exposed when you're in that situation and how do you know who's of a fan who just wants to take a selfie who's got alterior motive or house straight sad motives? Impact? Yeah, everytime, she stepped on the court of wondering, get up to go the bathroom, and you think, oh, they're coming down to the court. It's as cold and that's not something that it's hard enough with for a living, and that should not be an added element. Let me ask you a baseball question about Cody Bellinger, who's now officially on the all star ballot and people can go and vote people can go and vote right now for the all star team..

"Net. LA and Joe. When you look at Cody Bellinger, I'm wondering, is you've seen him since he came up as a rookie this year has been at least so far magical for him. Is there something that, that's tangible that you see that looks different or is he just doing all the stuff he did when he was rookie of the year better when you watch him? Is there anything you're noticing that, that he's changed that has did that explains these monster numbers that he's putting up for me a completely different guy? And I don't know if that's just the natural growth of a player or what? But for the most impressive thing to me is the drop in strikeout rate. Right. Goes from being what you expect from a slugger, which is high twenties as far as strikeout percentage. You live with that. When guys hitting thirty. Forty home runs a year, but not only is it continuing to pace. The league in home runs. He there's dropped strikeout rate from like twenty six percent of fourteen or fifteen percent. You know, so besides this incredible power and besides being so fast and a great fielder. He's dropped his strikeout rate more than anybody baseball. And it feels like I personally anytime we talked to talk about him at this point. But for two months, and again, you got to do it for more than two months to, to really be upper-echelon. But for two months is greatest player I've watched and I'm not lived that long, but I've not seen anybody like this for two months. Did you know Joe that he had that card defensively that he's shown us this year? I mean I know he played a lot of first base prior to this season. So he, he probably couldn't have did you know he was this good of defensive outfielder? I knew that he was this athletic. I didn't know that it would translate to, you know, this, like mutable skill that we see defensively, you know, knew the arm was there. But. It's one thing to have a great arm and it's other evident execute throws. He's doing and make decisions like he's making and right field. So you mean you knew that, like the RAF skills were there. And I think you could say that about his overall game. But for most guys, those raw skills. And when I say most I mean like ninety nine point nine percent of guys those raw skills, don't necessarily translate into, like every single one of them comes to life, and you get the perfect player like a watching right now. I mean, we're watching a unicorn. Yeah. He really is. He really is. Hey let's, let's talk about the bullpen a little bit. That's clearly, the the soft spot on this Tim right now, if there is one Joe Joe Kelley struggled Dylan. Floro struggle of late Julio reas has been has been okay Ross stripling has been okay. They at the trade deadline. It seems to me that they've got to go out and find a bridge guy, or a couple of bullpen pieces. What do you? I totally agree. I mean that's, that's clearly the spots, it needs work. I think that there is no rush got a seven and a half game lead on the entirely. You got a nine and a half game lead in the division the perfect clubhouse chemistry. I don't think there's any rush to make a move right now that does to thinks that keeps you from stirring, up anything in the clubhouse, before you need to and not that a move which stirred up, but, you know you risk it. You don't know what you're getting when you bring somebody in from the outside it minimizes. If you're gonna make trade minimizes the cost because, you know, you're paying for two months less of a guy if you wait until the deadline and, you know, I just don't think that they need to pull the trigger on that yet, and, and the other part of it is you get to learn a little bit more about what you do have down there. And you get another couple of months to see who you can trust. And it'd be who you can't. And so, yeah, I think move needs to be made..

"But yet Roberts came out and said he's going to be an outfielder exclusively moving forward don't want to risk that kind of injury again. All right. So every year that they've been here. The Andrew Freedman group the council elders who have a council of elders now, they do they have they have like accounts. Well of a bunch of guys who've been another team, but I we don't use that with the dodgers. Well, call mature. Yeah. Of team of rivals office the. They go out and get somebody big couple years ago was Richhill last year was Manny Machado. Yup. This year. Of course, we don't know who it will be. But what area would they probably address? Would they go and get a nut? Like David freeze. Was surprisingly good pickup. Yeah. It was really pick. They could go get a middle relief arm. Yeah. They they could. Now, what's interesting is. I know you you're defending Jansen. And frankly, I think he is your closer. But if continues to struggle and yet you have to admit he has struggled. Maybe that do they go out and get a potential kick Craig kimbrel type nine. And so that's the problem where do you go to get to make this team better? When you have the best record in the league. Well, I think the thing that the dodgers have now is time you get to see if somebody gets hurt between Pollock and the trade deadline. You know, if you were to lose, and they moved up, right? Well, it's in July. Now, you can't you can't even do non waiver after after July thirty first. But if you were to lose, for example, JT go third base if you were to lose Cody Bellinger you'd go right field. If you were all these terrible scenarios, by the way. Right. If you're gonna lose Kika, you'd look second base. I mean, I think that the thing the dodgers have first of all they get the best record in the nationally. They got plenty of time to be able to to handle this. If all things were equal, and if everybody's healthy once you get to that trade deadline. I think you're looking to add bullpen because aside from from Janssen who as you mentioned is giving up some runs. Joe Kelley has been a major disappointment as a setup guy. Right. Well, let me throw this out before new guys kind of shot it down. But. Boreas? I know they want him to be a starter one day. Hopefully, this postseason. But what if you turned him into the I'm thinking about the two thousand two angels, the Francisco Rodriguez type setup guy who use who would come any. Normally would just pitch. The sometimes pitch the seventh and then handed Detroit Percival. Yup. If all these all your starters are healthy. Okay. And you know, bueller looks great right Kershaw. Bueller? By the way, has looked. Okay. He's not looked great. He's five and all but right? He's he's looked good last night. Yeah. All right. A couple of bombs, right? So he's coming. Let's assume let's let's let's say we're starting to playoffs here. Yes. And for the sake of argument's best four out of seven. Okay. Okay. Kershaw getting a game Buehler's getting a game Richhill probably getting a game shows getting a game. Kate Maya to get into game..

"He's swinging it better pitches. His strikeout rate has dropped a huge amount about in half. And they sweep the pirates yesterday and they're rolling. They are role in dodger sweep much like Travis said, but the real question is is Cody Bellinger, real or not Cody Bellinger is having the best April ever Belgium's numbers. He's hitting four twenty seven with thirty six Rigby in joins an exclusive club a players with fourteen home runs before may first that's fourteen home runs before may first dogs. There. He falls in the category with yelich in twenty nineteen S fourteen. So they're even Alex Rodriguez and seven would fourteen Albert Paulsen. Six with fourteen I think the angels elected go back to six pool halls point in time. But of course, the dodgers season started in late March this year thus being before may first qualifier decades ago. This season didn't start into mid April. The most remarkable aspects of Belgian start is he's cut his strikeouts which chopping wood in my opinion rate in half to twenty three point ninety from eleven point thirteen percent. Eleven point three percent. Yeah. He's he's making four more contact and he's driving the ball. He's doing all. He looks like an MVP candidate. I mean, everything about you said, you've already started construction on his statue l z and I'm getting ready to help you. I might move some some stuff around it. He's. Locked in. He's their best player. He's the guy that when he comes up you expect him to hit the ball hard. And he has it's not like we hasn't cooled off at all. He started hot. He stayed hot still is focused in Dowd in for whatever reason last year he had a down year this year. He feel think he came back ready to go. He wanted to show some people that that's off more slump was just not what it was. This is now I'm in my third year. I'm gonna be a professional now. My I caught the league by storm. I think they caught up to me my second year started pressing. And now, I'm a little more relaxed. I know what to look for know what it is. And that's where he's at. I'm not a baseball aficionado. I've never played a sport apple any level. I play the streets Detroit, though, does count for something. It's something. I don't know what. But I've watched God knows how many baseball both live and on television, and you can tell I think within a players I two plate appearances. Just what kind of to me they have pacing. Are they the kind of pressing Tony Gwynn to me? Like he was standing there with the scotch and one hand and cigar, and he's like I'm just going to wait till you make mistake. I'm not gonna press. I'm not gonna swing. I'm gonna wait to make contact and he went and he did. And that's why he was one of the greatest hitters of all time Cody Belgian his first year, even though he may content. Get the break numbers, you knew he was like hottest do he goes swing? The sudas. The ball leaves your hand. He's already made up his mind. I'm swinging for the fences there's a certain level of maturity that he seems to have possessed yet some point between the end of last season in the beginning of this one that he found that he's been able to hold onto. I am incredibly impressed. Now. I also watched enough baseball like you have to understand that sometimes guys can get hot for a week two weeks even a month, sometimes even half a season. And this isn't a an apples to apples comparison. But go back a few seasons. Go in jock Petersen. I showed up and remember he was a guy one twenty three twenty four home runs at the all star break, and all of a sudden, they figured..

That leaves it up to Chris. I annette. Did you just it ever kinda come to an agreement on that foul yesterday? If the final four Albert gained in okay more upset about the doubled to rebel. That was before. The fact. I know. Really now, I'm just bringing this up. Now, just try to start some between me and just in two hundred nine it's kind of assertiveness by I start talking about the good sportsmanship thing. And it just reminded me of you guys yesterday. Borderline good sportsmanship. It was starting to get a little concerning. One strike pitch. I tried to hold up. He could not into a pitch down at away. We'll bring it full circles at because we were talking to Cody Bellinger pre-game. Why you brought it up now Belgium at that throw the sportsmanship? Oh, a two I Annette a single of the seven Denison Tanna trying to finish it off and a week ground. Or at the first base line that just does trickled foul in front of the bag. That's by Muncie and valve all we'll do it again too. Muncie. Tried so hard to get to four it skidded off foul as trying to get into the post game spread and it's been like four hours. He's starving. The dodgers have been averaging three and a half hours per game. We're at three fifty two tonight's. Santana's pitch I in ETA swings and grounded third charging Turner scoops on the move slings it on the first for the infield grass. That is the ballgame. Twelve six dodgers finish off. The sweep LA has won five straight. The dodgers are eight and two. They hit two more home runs and the dodgers are bursting out of the gates to start the season. They are absolutely on fire. And this team's exciting team to watch. They don't even have Clayton Kershaw on the active roster. So just imagine they get him back and healthy and ritual. They are going to pitch and they are going to kick and Joe Kelley. Hey, it's nothing great outing for him tonight. He needed it team wanted to see it, and that's another positive for the dodgers as well. I think on the rocky side. Hey, they did score some runs. They got a couple of big hits the middle guys Trevor story Nolan Nado. So if they could think on those things they can build on something perhaps for the Braves in the mall in their concern is their health coming out of the ball game tonight with story and possibly doll having to leave the gave it injuries tonight for the Rockies Sunday night baseball on ESPN radio. "Bill. When they build. When they build a statue to Cody Bellinger, let it be a glorious statue. Glorious statue let it be nine feet tall. Then it'd be a hundred feet wide. Let his bets never missed the ball. And let it be a glorious grand slam that he is hitting which fueled last night's six five victory over the hated giants one ball and no strikes. Bellenger awaits apply. All centerfield is. Well, hit Doug are going back to the wall. Prodding home or minestrone home public trotting home and here come Bellenger that is courtesy of dodgers radio. And that was also a lefty one Madison Bumgarner he doesn't do that. No. He does not. Apparently, he does. Now know that goes against all the analytics there L Z. I love this new Cody Bellinger this hitting safety and every game played Cody Bellinger, this hidden lefties, Cody this patient at the plate. Cody Bellinger is hitting four twenty nine Cody Bellinger, let the statue to Cody Bellinger via grants debts. The grand is an all the land return to form of Cody Bellinger, which is a huge huge factor for the dodgers. If they wanna get back to the World Series for the third straight seasonals e but actually win this one actually get over the top. I feel like dodger fans have seen enough of what it looks like to get to the World Series. They wanna see the thing actually cashed in. You wanna see some vengeance? Endgame. Yes, you're done with us Infinity war. Yes. Game to end. I feel like at this point. We know what it looks like when iron man, and captain America and Thor and the entire gang get together to fight of villain that can't be completely stopped. We wanna see what it looks like when you take out fan us, you know, finals right now is Joe every given all the games that he's Blong undefeated fan Osas on their own team. See that's a plot to. Plain sight, the the two he's guardian. He's. We've lost. Yeah. That is. I mean, I didn't want to take down the room that quickly..

"If you don't win early in the season, and you lose eight and a rower, you know, Bellenger gets hurt or AJ Pollock has been great for that opening series goes down, which he does he gets hurt. Like that stuff matters go in a bunch of games in April. It's okay. Yeah. You know as way too early to do too much analysis in terms of what this quad is. That's not different than what we already knew. I am Cody bellinger's gonna hit a hundred and sixty two home runs because that's the way he's on pace for but I don't care about what he's on pace for. I'm okay about what I'm C. You know, we talked about this before. The show there's one, but actually tidbits I actually kind of caught my attention number one was the patients that Cody bellinger's showing at the plate. We didn't see that patients his first two seasons. If this is the Cody Bellinger that we're going to have going forward in his career. I'm ecstatic because here's someone who's not looking to hit a home run every single time. He's at the play. I saw a patient player who's waiting for the right pitch. And if there was an opportunity for a base hit he took that opportunity. The fact that we've gone four games in. And he only has two strikeouts is amazed. I don't care about the hits or the home runs. The rabies. That's all fine and dandy to care about those a little bit. I strikeouts. I care about the fact that you're not making pitches pitchers work to get you out as opposed to giving them gifts. So if this is going to be him going forward, I'm ecstatic. So that's number one. And number two. I'm just a little concern that we all agree to debate. Suck. But they still got twenty two runs on us. Of course, four games. I'm a little concerned. Because if they if they are awful, they are and they are and in four games they got twenty two runs. We're not always going to hit fifteen home runs lesson play them. You know what I'm saying? So I'm just a little concerned about if that number those twenty two runs that they scored across the four game series mean anything about where we are in terms of the pitching. Or if the pitchers didn't really try that hard because they're up fifteen runs anyway. And then not doing that. Part of it was, you know, bueller about start like so that some of it, but come on man, if you will this store at five five and five the first three games before you learn when working my way back. Okay. But there were up eight they want eighteen five. I mean that one of those laws lost one game. That's right. And we need a kenley in the ninth for yesterday's big stirring comeback for those important 'cause we behind by Walker. Bueller? But I like this you always try to figure out the math is a little harder now because they played four freaking games one really bad one really bad team..

"He's out right. Who is you just said another is. Those are the three. Yeah. And then the other but the other guys like Bellinger and Seger. They deserve every day at bat. Yeah. And and I think they're going to get them. I think they've established that they want Cody Bellinger to be an everyday player that was what what Cody wants to. And we'll find out like tonight's a good test. Robbie Ray is a really good left-hander who has given the dodgers problems in the past. We'll see what these guys look like against left handers. Like, I understand Muncie and freeze. They're gonna flip all year long. Right. Same thing with Taylor in jock. I don't know what exactly doing with Russell Martin and Austin Barnes since they're both right handed and they're going to establish. Russell Martin as chicken strips catcher, or whatever they're going to do a how they're going to divvy that up did that nickname catch on chicken strip chicken strip. All. Yeah. Matter of fact, when he when they had the nickname weaken last year. That's what he put it in the back of a shortcut. Okay. Who doesn't love that name? I think it's fantastic. But it's it's kind of like when you and I were talking about that happy hour every hour thing like that. That's the thing that's still being pushed. But it just hasn't caught on, you know, it's still being pushed. Yeah. And I think it's developing. Yeah. It's a. Developing thing, and John what do you think? Happy hour every hour. Do you like that trashy just going along to get along? Yeah. This is stuff. You're not a fan of that. I personally I love it. 'cause menas on the on the voice over I'm a fan of it catching on. Yeah. Me too. I wanted to Kemi to hasn't really ignited yet. I'm rooting for. Yeah. By the way, George you notice that you and Mason have fallen out of the leave. I know. Eski racket pool for Tennessee killed me essay. I wanted to punch. Rick Barnes and the Tennessee in the final dead, Oregon, almost almost mess you up. They almost pulled that off Virginia. My my final four is still alive. That's like the battle Michigan that loud crash. You heard was my bracket falling to the Grandi will crash Purdue doesn't make the final four. He's got Purdue going all the way to the fun. But if they do he probably wins it. She's no one else. It gets there. Andy will win. Yeah. Yeah. But you see that kid hitting threes. For Purdue at the end line. He was shot. I tweeted if he wins this with the three he's gotta change his name to Jimmy Chitwood. I mean, he wasn't even hitting the rim on everything's always wish wed on and guys draped all over him too. It wasn't like he was hitting wide open that funky Jamaal Wilkes release. But the first game I'm trying to figure out what the first game is time is Dukan. That's the only one four forty four. I no a select board. Yeah. Yeah. Six hundred forty all over Duke, those that's the team where I know players well three right Zion, Zion barium radiation. And here's the order LSU. Michigan state at four. Now, we do in these again, Georgia you only on for an hour did hell know, we're doing whole show today. Today's we have today. Well, that's right. Okay. And then Auburn North Carolina at four thirty then Virginia Tech Duke at six thirty in the last game is Houston Kentucky, which I think is going to be really close. Houston's Houston's thirty three in three Yemen. That's Kelvin Sampson. Right. Yep. Former Oklahoma coach, and he goes to the NBA for a while to by the way, the lines on those games. Go ahead. We now talk about gambling. Michigan state is a six point favorite over LSU. Duke is a seven point favorite over vodka tech. Houston is actually Kentucky is a two point favorite over Houston. Only a two point favorite. Yeah. Well, they've got one of their best players something or other is.

"Super-safe alcohol and drawing axes Mix. mix. Maybe. Anyways, we get Cody Bellinger pumped cast got to talk to him for a little bit. He didn't. I had the one question that I want to really get an answer on didn't quite get it as I was fishing on one of those questions, you let's let's kick it to the interview. And then and then after we listened to it, you can I'll let you guess which one it was Cody Bellinger. All right. We are here with the twenty seventeen and L rookie of the year. Two time National League champion, Cody Bellinger. How we doing? I'm doing good. How about you guys doing? All right. We're doing it. Right back and forth. He was talking about earlier how he was in Arizona. You're an Amazon right now. Actually, let's start there. Let's start there with with your workout routine because you played in all one hundred sixty two games last season. And then you have a back to back World Series appearances. How do you sort of train your body for a full season of baseball knowing that there's a pretty good chance that you're going to be going deep into October on top of that one sixty two. Yeah. I mean, that's I think when you play it seem like the dodgers you prepare in January that you're gonna play until October every single year, you know, if that you know, we have short off seasons, and you probably take a week or two off. And then you get right back into jam. But I think the biggest thing is thanks legible and obviously getting stronger, but getting to a point where you can maintain it and stay healthy all year round. Well, you know, so you guys you you're talking about training you're talking about how to prepare the body, bro. How do you relax the body? Because when I think a lot of people don't really understand is when you talk about getting ready in January to play through October. Like, you do the math there. There's not much time for downtimes for fucking or an art to chill out. So how do you how do you get away from the game because you're out there in the desert, you're Scottsdale? I love me the desert just left Mesa. But what do you? What do you do to to just Marigny? You know what I'm saying to get away from the game. What have you been doing this Altis? Man. Honestly, I don't do much. I think the thing that I loved to do in the offseason golf. Of course, the same thing. What course out there? I've got I've got my my favorite one adult out right now is TV. Sees got still sure it's pretty nice and not too expensive. But do you ever? Do you ever game too? Great. He gave us great. No, it's not great. Oh, even better that we could play around because I was gonna I was gonna talk some shit. But now that you're not good now. Now you and I we could play a little playing field. Yeah. I'm probably high nineties two hundred every time he goes like just like fastball jeered. In Dallas is he probably never broke eighty five in the big leagues. So let's just talk about that. Then talk about this. Fastball velocity. I talked to a scout. Who is like these guys that are playing now the hitters at least it's fucked. What they have to deal with when when it when it turns into the sixth inning. It's like all right. Every dude has ninety eight in his back pocket. And obviously you see north of that. As someone who has played multiple levels of baseball now and your at the big league level..
