"Of them think you have to do is from Belgium. Baylor's arrow tell you like that Do is the best player ever saw Shaquille O'Neal in his prime? You remember what that was. He was the M V P of the legally and Kobe was in his prime, too. Even though he's young lot of guys in private with, like, No, you can't play with Shaquille. Well, you've been telling me Raj is the greatest player ever and LeBron James. That's those are the guys who didn't make them out Rushmore of the Lakers. It's gangster. That's all. I'm saying. We're going. I'm not saying I'm not saying we're gonna win. I'm just saying we could make it a serious. Yeah, sure. You're not right other teams that the Celtics but you know Bill Russell and Larry Bird, but other teams Mount Rushmore is can compete and probably lose to the guys who couldn't even make the Lakers Mount Rushmore. That's what I'm saying. Laker says. Now go package that use it like a cudgel to bash all other fans and make them feel bad about themselves and their teams because that's the point of debating sports. Um Jerry West is angry that he was left off of Jeannie Buss is top five list is what got me thinking of all this of the most important Lakers of all time. Who did your with Peter Vessey, he said. Quote I saw the other day, Jeannie Buss made a statement. The five most important Lakers one of the most offensive things I've ever heard in my life. Was there a lot of times had a lot of success. Curious to know if they would have had that success if I hadn't been there, and I don't ever take credit for this stuff. I don't when I was around, maybe I was just a good luck charm. But I do know. When this thing fell apart. There was a lot of years where they weren't very good. Now. I was there for this. Not when he went to Memphis. By the way, Jerry West went to Memphis just like that, like this, if you can't if you don't have the ESPN, Plus, I'm snapping into the microphone like this to indicate how fast it was Raj. Just like that they Memphis was a perennial playoff Him right with powers. The best player. He goes back to the Lakers and win championships and everything. Then he left for the Warriors. And you know what? I told everyone at the time I was on radio in L A. At the time. I said, Get ready for the battle of the five Freeway. Because going upto san friend because Lakers head Coby and Pau and Lamar and bind them and they had won a championship and two championships and they were going for a three peat. But once Jerry West Goes up. The Golden State. I'm like, Just watch what happens at Golden State now. And if it's just a good luck charm, I don't know. I do know that Battle of the five Freeway never happened because the Lakers didn't hold up their end of the deal. Warriors. Wound up with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. And then eventually Kevin Durant and put together one of most dominating, you know, spans in history, basketball. Jerry West when he went to the Clippers. Have the Clippers ever been as threatening as they are right now ever in their history. It is threatening as they are right now. I agree with the logo on this. Agree with Logan. By the way, he really has shown a lot of humility at least publicly with the way He frames his own role with the Lakers. But I understand why he'd be upset being left off by the owner of the Lakers. Jeanie Buss, a top five because she went to non participants. She went to Phil Jackson, her ex As one of the most important Five most important Lakers but filled in play for the Lakers. So once you open that can of worms. You got to say. Well, what about Dr Jerry Buss used the owner of the Lakers responsible for the whole thing, right? What about Chick Hearn? What about Pat Riley? If you're going to include coaching where our executive ng What about Jerry West, who, as a player belongs with the other with the all time greats as a player, go look up Jerry West stats. By the way, you know what I'm gonna do that Raj. I'm gonna do it right now. Because now it is. You could just write Jerry West stats and you put up basketball reference and I'm not going into advanced stats and another era was different. But just for the kids out there who don't know about Jerry West. I'll just give you a His point average is okay, just his averages for points. Starting in 1961 62. Okay, 30.8 27.1. I'm gonna leave off the point is gonna say Rounded up or down 31 27 29 31 31 29 26 26 31 27 26. It seems to me that you like 31 A lot of 30 ones. They're 31 points a game. With assists. 6.86 point 16.97 point 59.59 point seven That's Jerry West supplier is giving you 31 8 as a player, and by the way was so gangster. He was the finals all the time. They lost a lot to a better Celtics team. But he was so good. Jerry West won the M V P of the finals. One year his team lost. Yeah, he's gotta be on any top.

Coby White Scores 21 As Chicago Bulls Rally To Beat Trail Blazers
"Kobe white scores. Twenty one and the bull's rally to beat the blazers won eleven one away. They were down twenty but they came back What's the big takeaway well skates. I only got one thing for you. The polls are hitting me win of the year the first twenty point comeback in the nba. This season i saw some highlights from the clippers versus the spurs. They're talking could they be the first team to pull off a twenty point comeback. No they can't but the bulls did as a crazy game. What a night. In the kirby household bowls blazoned on the deck owl's blazers on deck election results trickling in on the computer a luxurious matchup out there red and black both teams january five going down in history. But this was a weird one. I said the bulls gave up a twenty point. Lead thirty nine point eight three pointers in the first quarter. Blazers look like they on fire. It looked like it was going to be sad. Trey kerby coming in on the show today. But i had the faith skeets i said. Just stick around the comeback bulls. We'll take care of this. And somehow they did a billy donovan has gotten something. Out of zach levine. Feels a little bit different. He was out there over passing the ball in the first half of the game but kept getting teammates involved. This ended up being a really nice team win. The bulls had so many guys in double figures. They ended up with seven players in double figures. Everybody was doing something everybody was bored in. This was a fun game to watch like. I said the balls have this huge comeback being a dagger three under a minute left. I'm upstairs everybody else in the house asleep. I'm just jealous like this back in my arms against each other legendary stuff damian. Lillard basically didn't make a shot in the second half did make the one that was most important knockdown down that three from the right wing. The purest swish. Coby runs the new, vivid Houston Open. The PGA Tour returns to the Bayou City on Thursday with a great tournament on the PGA Tour the week before the Masters. Kobe. Welcome back to K. L. B. J. And how are you doing this evening? I'm doing great at it. It's so good to hear your voice, my friend. Thank you, buddy. We've worked a lot together with Scotty Stairs and Ray Benson is also here with us. And son, Ben Clements. You had a long and illustrious career running all the PGA and senior tour events. Here in Austin. And now you're down in Houston Talkabout this tournament because it's at Memorial Park, the famous golf course. And I understand you've got a terrific field beginning on Thursday. Yeah, we really do. It's really come together and again. You just You just realize how important your spot in the schedule is. And who would have ever thought in a million years that we'd be talking about? Augusta in in the fall, but that's what we're talking about in the Masters. When they switched to November. We slid right in front of them, and we and we have benefited greatly from it. Guys like E. J and Jordan and And Jason Day, and I mean it, Brooks. The list goes on and on. So yeah, we could. We love we love our November date. Kobe. I saw Sergio Garcia yesterday. He said that he's anxious to get up there to Houston and then also notice it. Phil Mickelson, I think did he commit yesterday? I see that. Yeah. Scottie? Yeah. We had some really good late edition, The last two. Actually, in the afternoon. It was It was lefty and Jordan. So you can't you can't ask for more than that. I hit Refresh a couple times. I thought I was seeing things, but but no, we were just in the field just kept growing and growing. We just couldn't be happier with what happened. And you know, it's interesting. You know, the guys talk and there's a lot of talk about what? What we've redone and what we've done here in Memorial Park. In downtown Houston. And I think there's enough in trying to bring them here again. You know, cannon size enough. Just we're just in such a good spot on the schedule. Every everybody knows, And you know what we'll take full advantage of the next week. Now you're gonna have 2000 Spectators out there. Is that right for the tournament? Yeah, that's correct. We will. We've got a pretty fun plans going on next week, so we'll have 2000 fan today. Each fan eyes given a coded tickets, so they'll be designated a coded a color coded pavilion. So you'll get all the food and beverage is all inclusive in that ticket, and and that'll create social distancing and spacing. But again, we're community where state we've been a little more open than most. We understand what it is. What it's like to mask up. We understand what it's like to respect other space. We've got a ton of it out here. We've got 250 acres. So 2000 people in 250 acres I am not a mathematician, but I could tell you this. We've got the space to do this and I think we're going to accomplish something really cool next week. Kobe Calloway's with US from the vivid Houston Open. The begins Thursday down at Houston Talk about Memorial Park. This is a famous old golf course It's been renovated and brought up to speed. Talk about some of the things that fans will see. Not only you get to attend, but on the golf channel later this week. Yeah, they're going. They're just going to see a golf course that had some old bones just defeated a little basement, You know, and, of course, was rerouted lots of fan friendly areas. And if you're coming out, and you're lucky to have a ticket 23 t seven green. I'll really come together in a really nice spot on the front side and guys 15 to 18 is just about. It's cool. That gets 15 little bitty part three. Emphasis on fun on obviously hitting that green. There's danger everywhere. 16 this really cool risk reward part 5 17 driveable part for than 18 just bear that green isn't it is just wicked and ah, and it's going to be a heck of a finish for for those guys they're going to hold on for dear life. Kobe. We know the guys hit it. Aton. Sergio hits an average over 300 yards. Many many players do. What length will. They used an open. Be it this week. What will it be? Yes, we're going to be a little over 7400 guards and you know, honestly, it's the equalizer here will be the roof. The roof is thick. It's almost 2.5 inches thick, and it's that good old sectors. Bermuda. And, you know, you know, Houston weather you just tend to get a little bit more moisture than anywhere else. So it's thick. It's sticky, so emphasis on hitting fairways and, honestly, guys, these green here just off really, really good complexes that they built here. They're very tricky on again. I don't they're not as receptive from 100 yards shot out of rough. Nothing is that he's really aren't so emphasis on sticking those babies in the middle of the military and then having mikes approach up the green will be key next week. Kobe. I know Tom Doak did the renovation slash restoration up there and you talk about the grains. What kind of grasses on those grains? I'm sure it's some kind of new My brother made it. Yeah, it's like that. It's a dwarf from you. I think I read it. It's a new strain. It's interesting. You know, It's funny last fall, and they put it in. I think everybody's in a little bit panicky. Just didn't quite grip and then grab hold enough and all the sudden, Scotty I mean this These things just come to life. It's about as lush as you could be. You know, I've been involved in events in October in November for a long, long time, for some reason it just in South Texas. You can really get this grass peaking at the right time now and we are. What you're going to see on TV is is just this. It's pretty spectacular. Not gonna lie and you know, it's funny. You get worried about it a little bit. And you know, in August and the dog days and all of a sudden boom. Here we are. It's just luscious. Are you on the schedule for next year? Already Kobe or what? What is the situation with your tournament? You know what we are? We are. We still gotta November date, But you guys are good as anybody else on how everything is going to play out. You know, fingers crossed. We turned the corner into 2021 stuff starts to feel a little bit more normal. But you know, we're like everybody else were struggling with certainly We certainly have invented it..

Doomsday Parents, Chad And Lori Daybell
"Laurie Velo Bouza forty, six year old mother of three married a fifty one year old father of five Chad Day bill. On November fifth two thousand nineteen in Kauai Hawaii. Chad's wife for close to thirty years. Tammy. Day. Bill have been found dead in her home just two weeks earlier. So obviously, they didn't waste much time remarrying. Stunningly Quick Tammy was in apparently healthy forty, nine year old woman infectious training for a marathon. Just, ten days before her death, which was October ninth two, thousand, Nineteen Tammy reported on facebook and the police that masked man had shouted her with what she thought could be a paint gun what's going on there right? Exactly. The other very interesting aspect is Laurie and Chad had picked out and ordered their wedding bands more than two weeks before Tammy Steph. That's right. Shoe on that one for a while right so October fourth to fifth tammy visited her parents Beck in Springville. Utah, where she's from and then a few days later on October nine, a man ski mask was shooting at her so I guess the police decided it was just some kind of prank because she thought it was a paint gun and they never found the guy, but it's very curious. WHOA, it is and it's really just the tip of the iceberg in this really strange case with all the suspicious occurrences just everything surrounding lawyer and Chad, his mess and very suspicious of course. Yes that's an understatement. So Chad Chad Day Bell is lawry's fifth husband. Laurie was born Laurie Noreen Cox June twenty sixth of Nineteen seventy-three in San Bernardino California and she grew up with two brothers Alex and Adam and two sisters Stacey and summer Alex Cox plays a really large role in this whole story so you need to remember him Adam lives in Kansas and he's worked as a radio personality, but he's pretty much out of the whole seen as far as we know so far. Stacy Cox died in her parents home when she was just twenty two years old and this was from complications of type one diabetes lorries remaining living sister Cox shift. Let was one of lorries, biggest defenders until June of this year, and that's when the remains of her children jj entirely were discovered on the property of Chad debacle. Now, people who knew Lori will have said that she really became a person after she became involved with shed she had been considered an excellent mother. And a good friend to many many years ago back in high school Lori was a happy energetic cheerleader at nineteen years of age. She married her high school sweetheart Nelson Jawans. This marriage is over within a year. Then when she was twenty two in Nineteen ninety-five Laurie Mary twenty-three-year-old. William but Sheila, and this marriage was in Travis County Texas. They had a son named Colby in one, thousand, nine, hundred, ninety six, and they ended up divorcing in nineteen. Ninety eight. So, by the time, she was twenty five years old she'd been married and divorced twice already. See and she has one child, and then in two thousand. One Lori Mary Joseph Ryan Joe Converted to Mormonism, and that was the religion it Laurie had been raised in. He didn't legally adopt coby coby took his last name. and. He and Laurie had a daughter together. That's highly in two, thousand, two and two, thousand, four in August Joe filed for divorce from Laurie. And it was finalized in two thousand five. He asked she'd be held in contempt then August two, thousand, seven Joe is attacked by Laura's brother Alex. For. This guy chases show around with stun gun. He tased him twice and he threatened to kill him. Yes. So I'm going to ask probably a stupid question is this because of the divorce or because he took her back to court. I'm thinking it was related to the custody issue because the divorce was already finalized been finalized for over a year. But you know she was also looking at some trouble because she was in contempt of court. She wasn't bringing tighly for her visits and she was keeping tidily away from him. So, Alex Laura's brother was very protective of her and actually seemed obsessed at the time with killing Joe. Ryan the incident happened when Joe was leaving a supervised visit with his daughter Kylie and the attack ended when an eyewitness showed up. So Alex, pled guilty to aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury and ended up serving ninety days in jail, and this was in Austin Texas. But the custody battle between Joe and Laurie over tighly really got very dark at one point Laurie head to install cameras in the children's rooms and in the living room for the court to see what was going on in her house. But no abuse apparently was found from that camera footage but just so you know this was a really nasty custody situation. You're S, and then we have Joe Dying in April of two thousand, eighteen still young man. This was determined to be a heart attack they did not topsy, but then he his remains were cremated. This whole time has custody battle with over Retali- had continued to be ongoing, right? I. Believe he was fifty nine but he was pretty healthy and there were some strange things about his autopsy as well. Roy Yeah now the court documents say that Joe Ryan accused Laurie of parental alienation alleging that he had not seen his daughter for more than a year at one point. And he also referred to a court appointed psychologist who had interviewed Lori. And according to court paperwork the psychologist David, our pool
Eagles' new mural honors Kobe, his '10 Rules'
"Eagles painted a Kobe Bryant mural at their facility with 10 rules and their 10 Coby rules number one is get better. Every single day. Number two is proved them wrong. Three work on your weaknesses, and it literally goes up to 10. These rules are beautiful, and they're obviously Kobe's 10 rules. But we
Baltimore Orioles draft pick Coby Mayo survived the Parkland school shooting. He plays to honor those who didn’t.
"My next guest, a terrible tragedy as motivation to achieve what most kids can only dream about and here to tell us about it is Kobe Mayo survivor of the Parkland shutting and now fourth. Round MLB draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles. Kobe congratulations first of all. What was that like to get that news to hear? What your dream is GonNa. Come through you a draft. Until you know the whole process. In the last three months has been crazy. Dacoven season was cut short a little bit, but you know it was that process was was very stressful, but you know. The day of the draft was just. Feeling in here, my name on TV was just it was feeling that can't even I can't even pitcher back ahead because I lost all the moments in my head, because of all the excitement from my family, my friends and it was just an amazing moment, and I really hold forever. That's incredible, but we go back now. People here, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, two, thousand, eighteen people remember your student at this school and you know I can't imagine how that day had an impact on the students, but tell me how that day maybe change your perspective, and did it have some kind of an impact on your motivation and your drive, and ultimately getting you to where you are now. Yeah I always say to this day. If maybe that shooting never happened in might not motivated me to be where I'm at today, and you know I i. really do that day as motivation because of all the. Students were lost and teachers our Lawson. I really use ideas motivation to keep to keep going and do community you. Anthony Rizzo came back to community after the next day flew home from Chicago, he was getting ready to start a season, and he talked to the community, and it was. It was really big community to hear his voice I Kinda WanNa be that that voice. That's heard because I'm you know on to better things? Came of its strong and that's that's really what I WANNA be. Ultimate Goal Co, it sounds like. You feel like you have some type of responsibility. You were blessed. You were spared. A lot of kids were that day, but it sounds like you're taking this on as a blessing in an opportunity that you have a responsibility now to fill. Yet for sure you know those seventeen to seventeen that didn't make don't have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams, and if I can go out there and honor them, so feel my dreams. I think that that would be the biggest success that. Anyone can make the whole second. That's going on so I want I really want them to to see me reaching my goals. And hopefully they looked down and they're happy. What's up?

"Arts Ours Questioning because he's been in the League longer than me. I I got like one point five waiting for there's so many I mean Jordan seems to be like on a whole `nother level another dudes who who hate to lose like I hate to lose more than anyone but like the stuff that he was doing and pushing his teammates just physical ability and helping out stronger gun just being able to push his teammates while he was the best player in the League and Rose Expectations for Chicago and just consistently one and Kinda made his mark and establish itself as as the best in the world as we saw like ninety two during the pickup game. Monaco like you're able to see that so I can't give one thing one specific person but there's definitely so many people out there who hate to lose Kobe. You still pondering I mean I just say like like I said like Kobe. Bryant closing to micro onto Michael Jordan. But like I don't I don't think there's anyone you know that. That is as competitive as he is like. Archie says a lot of guys that hate to lose but they don't take it to that extent level that he took it to after like you know cool guys mood at the game you know your. You're mad school when she goes to the car you know when she'd been the car and go home. It's like our alternates like eight. Didn't have that mentality. It was just. He lost like he was getting his team as he was doing doing that. And you know he he. May everybody feel like I like you know. We don't need to lose again type thing so I just like. He just took it to another level that nobody else has. I think if this basketball career it doesn't work out Kobe. I think you'll be excellent anchor for this reason and I think the basketball is gonNA work out phonetically Your name sounds like Kobe. Kobe Bryant Kobe Bryant When you look at Kobe I feel like I've pulled a lot of players throughout the course of this season. They've discussed how kolding was there generations. Michael and and and I I can kind of see it How much did you see similarities? Between those two guys will first of all you can tell them their games the tongue the way they move. You know everything like like. Kobe said you know he he wanted to be him. There wouldn't be a Kobe without. Mj by disliked the mentality. You know the way. The carrot excels on the way they the way they work the way they you know. I'M GONNA I'M GONNA be the greatest regardless of what anybody else thinks you know you know one thing about you. Know that documentary. That align like he didn't kill taught him roof. You know like when he was playing he didn't care what he thought. He didn't care about their opinion on him. And I think coby was the same way he just wanted to win three like that you know. Kobe was my generation. Nj for sure No everybody to I know you know was coming up. Look up the Kobe Bryant metality. I wanted to be like you know everybody wanted to be you know the face. La The Lakers and which is not as well rival shaking your head. You add something to that they. I mean Kobe. I mean from Philadelphia suburbs lower. Marianne so I grew up playing his high school and Planning Kobe. Bryant Gymnasium. Wariness kicks in represented. I mean you just want to kind of be like Oh be on the court I mean I know when I was in my friends in high school anytime. We shot anything in the trash for saying Goldman because I like salad when I was growing up. That's what it was. He was like our generation. My generations Jordan. Just 'cause he was just an ultra competitive dude you know after they lost like the Celtics in a way he was getting that team back in shape like calling out powder salt or or whatever and just an expecting greatness because he saw that in his bigger brother as Jordan at like you said in the documentary so just everything that Koby said. I agree with but I was being from this area. You just have another amount of respect and For Kobe miss the White. You giggled and I find that interesting you kind of had the home court advantage. You could yell Kobe. You Call Your name. You Sat. How does that work growing up? Not they knew growing. We're not say Kobe Kobe. Bean officer like when arch arch citing the trash Nancy. Kobe measure realize. Like that's really well. You know we was doing like me and my friends are doing the same thing even not even a trash can even like we had a fatal a jumper. You know something like that you know growing up playing outside the outside goes plan twenty one. You're out there who've been Moose Kobe so as hot work it was. It just clicked me. My Mom said the one of the things that stood out in the Jordan or the Bulls documentary I keep saying Jordan documentary seem synonymous but you check out the last dance one of the things that stood out to me and I think it'll be a lasting impact is with Michael. Talked about people criticizing. And how everybody's not meant to be great and at the end. When he was finishing he was crying. He said break. Is it just me for the guys when you saw that? Yeah definitely I think I mean I've seen it clipped up on from so many twitter accounts about like you. Just you can just tell how much winning and competing getting better that this dude like wanted to do like a mic. Drp like bone like. That's it you can just tell like if someone is that emotional. Their care factors just crazy. It's it's crazy so he cared so much about being the greatest have been the best player And having the best team in winning list the white Yeah for sure I think you know for him. You know and everybody knows like Michael Jordan is not really a become crying ruining listener guy. I'm going to get that down most over the top of it. You know that way. Life is real. He wants to be the greatest. It wasn't just for show whether just this it got to be great and inspired to be great near parts. You the best play the game so I think it just solidify by doing national history or most of the solidify wanting to beat bit. Wanted to be the best. I remember I believe that was a ric flair and you want to be the best woo. You got to be the best when I when I look at you guys this season and covering you guys. The LAST COUPLE OF SEASONS RYAN. Use told me that you guys have aspirations to do something great colby. If I'm not mistaken you have often been on record. You know various things personal goal than more. I think that's interesting because your teammate. Coby literally the other day. Zach Levine. Called you a human flame. When I hear that I think a ball theme from streetfighter your references to get where you how. What does that mean for you? As as a hearing that from the from the from the face of the franchise in a lot you know music. Are you know really tight? We're no really cooler. You know that you can go back to trade campaign interviews. He's had a belief in me since day. One and I think towards the end of the season you know I got the show. You know. what he was leaving before so. I've lived lot. He was all all season using. I gotta come up with a nickname for you and I guess he found it. You know we talk with both these guys back in February when were in Philly when he played the sixes and we talked about him not being selected as an all star. And you know he talked to me. Said it wasn't really disappointed but it gave them a chance to kind of honest. Graft I guess my question is where do you see that as a as a As as the face of the franchise like what are you most impressed with as far grind? I'll start with you. This man which he works is de mass like He. He works super hard. He wants to be great but he wants to win. You know what I mean. I think we're all hungry to win. And I think he's just he's a big time competitor And he's just a big time player. We've seen so many GANZ res. He's he's lettuce victory. I mean the Charlotte Games made always sticks out thirteen. Threes forty nine points the game winner like off a Kobe's like steel like everything everything that does he wants to win. Like that's ultimate thing. So he was definitely bombed that he wasn't announced all-star picked as an all star. But the kid he's twenty four years old he's still he's in the seventh year in the NBA. Twenty four years old like this. This man is only going to get better and better like I see it on a daily basis. Kobe's he's on a daily basis like he he works his ass off and he's he's GonNa get there at some point just a matter of time went for sure with the White Yeah You know laughter obviously not First Union League and you know I was always digested of boys and You know all you hear around that. Levine's name is dunker dunker. Doug he's Dunker and you know when offer give got there. I didn't realize how effortless he scored the ball Deep as a gay man. You know So you know. Obviously it was a bummer. Not only him but all he did. He didn't make the author game you know. Do you know look at resume and draw season but you know like our stay. He's he's young you know used to. Townsend. He's not like he's going to get worse. He's going to get better over his career. I've like it's time it's coming. You know But are expect the fact that when he didn't make a lot of people could have you know been ranting could have been angry upset ages. Took it as you know what I was? GonNa Continue to get better. Continue to work on my craft. And I'M GONNA I'm GonNa Make All Star Team for sure so he definitely GonNa Making Multiple Times out of his career like I say he's. He's he's he missed the game easy and He works to everyday with a workmanlike attitude. You know Definitely you know a guy that you can look up to you know. Try Try to be like I like what you guys said about. You know the Dunker me. It was you who said that because I think a lot of times certain players come in the league and they have spending people just expect that all the Times but when I look at guys like Blake Griffin who expanded. His gaming wasn't just a dunker. He developed a faith of upper. Could post up a little bit. He wasn't just dunking over cars. I'm seeing that transition the same way with with with Levin and I think that's so important with basketball because when you become a one trick pony you know. He's he's he's diversified his ability to do many different things on the court. I think other people like yourself notice I think you like. Just from the fact that he's worn to dunk contests and he said like they want him to keep doing it. He was like I'm GonNa do the three point shooting in like he. He could if he wanted to. He could probably win the skills competition. If you wanted to. Like is is an all around player. Show we're almost at the halfway point. I'm here with my guys Ryan. Rtd and coby white of Chicago Bulls Talking Lafayette's and everything else make sure you check out any on all social media platforms. They're doing well as being official. I wear of the Chicago Bulls Patches or on the jerseys and they've got the player style and profile the Bulls in theme of the last dance recently hired a new general manager and mark ever sleep. I thought it was perfect. Timing because of everything boils right now of curious from you guys perspective. Would you know about him and have you met him yet? I know too much about him. you know..

These are some some new dope ones. The just sent me see the Chicago Bulls on the on the side. Yeah so this is a really solid. I don't need prescription but I wear glasses at time because I'm always looking at a screen night. The Blue Light blocking so I kind of have a little bit of a variety. These are also made by stylish. Step out and have a good time or something like that. Try to be a little bit stylish. Go down about but I can kinda down dress them up without whatever you need. I got I got a little a little style to make the most out of what I mean. It's great I mean they'll send a great case to whatever they said I. I've definitely been on the website. Got Some sunglasses as well so just trying to protect my eyes and take care of myself. You have to do that and for those who are targeted party. Once again against any obstacle is the official. I wear the Chicago Bulls. You've got to package. I got a packet core. Got a packet. Everybody got a package that we got to hook up. Zanny always end up. They told me not the Peak Ryan but I can live. Kinda I kinda did peak and I like these glasses on but they said they got these right here. I think I'm actually going to switch over to these Because they were new breaking new and here we are Kobe. Can you hear me? Yeah my full toby white from North Carolina. What's going on? Sir Was GonNa Night Chiller. Mina Gobi was good. Did you see my man has so far foremost? I think it's pretty cool. That you have North Carolina and Villanova in the same tech. Yeah I mean Kobe I mean clearly. He's a little bit younger but it's not really topic of conversation you try to get into any day for us. You can't say the same on my end but took what I find interesting just about the last dance and just doing my research on you. Call them a one young but but but I in our conversations over the past year your insights had me seems a little older of wrong at that or you're just quiet Do my research bra you aboard in two thousand by the by the time Michael Jordan made his next or third return or second or third return to the NBA. He was a wizard. And I find it difficult I mean I. I'm curious to know from your perspective. What will your recollections of Michael by? Did you learn from a brother or cousin like wait? How how are we doing this? What are you now? Well Florida For the documentary amount. I mainly just knew from like highlights highlights and watching hardwood classics on TV. I mean my dad my dad and my mom. Obviously they both play basketball so they talking about him a lot. But I mean plan I kind of everybody kind of Michael Jordan Woods but I never really got to see a lot you know and you being a North Carolina of first round. Pick just like Michael and plan for the Bulls. I'm sure there's a level of prestige and kind of seeing it with this energy right now. I WANNA be corny outdated but I would imagine you carry this more of a higher regard because of that connection to Mike. Yeah for sure Like always say to like I. Don't you know? Try to compare myself or they say say stuff about it but you know I mean. It's a blessing you know for sure to the Commodity Oklahoma and they'll also be joked about a booth you know. Ironically he was last player. Aygun so even a lot to take a wreath at here. We began Xeni frames of Zinni. Blue blocks definitely is a need right now particularly because we're spending a lot of time in front of your screen whether zoom calls whether Ritz instagram live. Facebook live twitter live. What have you? How much are you guys legitimately paying attention to those raids? Those those all those different things as you're going day to day being at home you're talking about like the Blue Light. I take now for sure I mean I. I hope my family was was Danny's I took care of him because everyone is working on either on zoom calls and always on the computer always on their phones ipads whatever the case is and we really don't know that much just yet about like the health of the blue light really like affects our is in the future is the legs and his head of the game. with these delay blocking. I'm always wear my when I'm when I'm looking at the screen. I usually put them on at night after the last couple of hours. Just so I can kind of take by reset my body back to normal and hopefully get a great night's sleep because we know that blue light affects us and it tells her mind that were still awake so I'm always wearing among family up by friends. They love him Kobe. You wear glasses talk about that. Synergy there between that. You wear them and you're protecting your is a from from harmful race. I think it's the best of both worlds for sure Just because especially now because Right now it's not much to do so everybody in their own everybody's on a laptop twenty four seven and So I think as I say the basketball world you know I one of those guys. You know that you stay up late at night on your phone and stuff like that and you know it really. It really does affect you. You know in the blue light glasses really really helps you lie in that regard to if I got it right. The Great Cardi being once said Corona virus is all joking aside. However you guys have been pretty active first of all McCall's barbecue and Goldsboro North Carolina are. I'd never had it but it sounds good. Colby tell me a little bit about your involvement with making donations to essential workers with food at the barbecue spot in your hometown. Yes so I just wanted to do something like it's the time right now. it's not focus on yourself. It's a good time to give back. You know what I'm saying so long. I got my agency my sister my family now. Mccarthy's world from a causes really good Places really good when I come home. It's one of my favorite spots in the My family loves so WE DECIDED TO YOU. Took my Local Hospital Wayne County Hospital You know some food for lunch you know at least I can. Do you know if they're doing that. For patients and allow workers so they help us a lot during this time. That's pretty awesome and Ryan. I know we talked about North Carolina. You know you and I have a Pennsylvania Tie. I have to tell you this when we spoke back in the spring. I set the article in the interview that we did to a local restaurant in the main line of Pennsylvania's campus corner. They all go free Dennis. I'm hoping you being from the area but county area. You have been active with young kids. Safe panicles moment so Just I've talked to a lot of little kids. High School teams even Loyola Chicago spoke to him a little bit as well but anyway I can kinda give back to little kids in Tom what they can be working on during this time now. I know there's not many practices and there's not much jim availability for everyone So being able to work on your game and other creative ways and kind kinda work on your quickness and work on your handle in your driveway or maybe you're just walking around the neighborhood. Whatever the case may be finding a hoop that you can shoot on but just try to do little things Share my experiences of. I'd never always had a gym to be able to go to so I was the same kid that all. These kids are growing up in the driveway. Shoe working on my handle and everything so like I said. Just try to give my experiences Because not everything has been all like in the NBA. My whole career. I really had to grind my way into the NBA Intel about Everything's not perfect. You know this is a bump in the road for everybody in their life over going to be able to get through and move on and try to keep a positive attitude while we're doing it just sounds like he's saying if I can grind like this the shine like that. I like this remark by right now. I mean seriously many basketball game that you both love. Is it difficult kind of sitting at home figuring out next moves? Yeah For sure you know for the most part the game has never been like you know taken away from me as it is now. You know I don't think any of us is used to this like you know. Knock on wood. But I've never had any injuries that prolonged me not to play for a long period of time and this is the first time in my life like I haven't been able to really go. Who WANT TO SO? I mean it's difficult for sure but you know right now. I mean basketball is my life but it's it's a lot more things going on in the world. That's more important than basketball right now. So which leads us back to the last Dance Ryan you born in ninety four Kobe. Born two thousand to ask you Ryan For you you were born around the time that the rockets on their first championship and then you know by the time. They want their second. You were two years old. What was your point of Reference With wasn't much there's probably similar to Kobe's in the fact that I mean I was out on a three or four but I always remember my brother. Who's three years older than me My Dad we were watching. I can't remember specifics. But my brother tells me that we would watch The finals we're watching the finals. When Jordan in ninety eight at the shot against the Jazz and my dad turned up with Western. Said like you're both are gonNA remember this for the rest of your life like kind of watching in our family room watching what? Mj Did this. The second three peat. So that's like the one thing that's always been like a of a memory. I know I was only four years old at the time. But it's always just stuck with me that it's crazy that I played for the Bulls now given the fact that what was a four year old Watching 'EM MJ. Win and make a huge shot in Utah flu game. Everything like that in ninety eight. So that's probably my first and the probably last a Jordan era bull Memory how's your perception of Michael Changed Question for both the Boys Yours? I think I think he's just like you know that he's just like a killer in like everything that he does like. He's like super super competitive. Both on and off the court in like being there are different types of leaders in you're able to see like the leadership that he brought to that team to be able to get the best out of everyone now some people don't think it's the best type of leadership but hey the results speak for themselves and I think we have to respect that and you just see the competitive fire like. I said like gambling on the golf course game like you just. You just wanted to win. It was like a winner win or lose thing even when he lost like. I'm coming back. I'm getting back to work. They want to be able to prepare for the following season. Make sure this doesn't happen again. you guys are fairly young but that doesn't matter a Leah's at age ain't nothing but a number I do have to actress question You Got Klay. Gives Colby Bryant? You guys did play against Michael. When you watch Jordan the documentary his level of competitive spirit. Is there anybody that you observe? That comes close to that and your level of.

"Player and very like we had out here in Vegas gained all of the players on that team Blake Griffin. All of the young guys coming up and giving me hugs and kisses. And thank you me because you know in that situation just in terms of dollars from Lebron James. He's got an extra one hundred million dollars. Toby gotta one extra one hundred million dollars Lake Griffin got an extra fifty million dollars Kevin Durant who give me a big hug and kiss each got seventy five million dollars extra so the number one dollars and sense that give you an example of what it is because with with four years have yet to wait four years after your high school graduate. You wouldn't lose that kind of capital and you lose that plant on you will lose four entitled number. That will help them get into the hall. Laid on those numbers would be race. And you don't know what happened four years then in College Spencer Haywood Aba Nba Legend and hall of Famer. Hey will always be remembered that the person opened the door for underclassmen college basketball players to leave college early to enter the NBA thereby creating the Spencer Haywood Rule Haywood attended the University of Detroit and help the US Olympic team to a gold medal at the nineteen sixty eight summer games in Mexico City. Nineteen sixty eight. After two years in college he decided to enter the NBA draft citing family financial hardship the NBA however at the time for players entering the draft until four years. After the high school graduation. Hey would then sign with the ABA. Denver rockets play one season leading the league in scoring and rebounding as a rookie since he now had a professional season under his belt he decided to challenge the NBA rule. Once again and signed with the Seattle Supersonics in one thousand nine hundred sixty nine the NBA wasn't having it. Hey will the league all the way to the US or frame court and one on September eleven? Two Thousand Fifteen. He wasn't Tryin Naismith Basketball Hall of fame. I'm John Johansen Junior and welcome to another edition of and Black America on this week's program. Aba An NBA Legend and hall of Famer Semester. Haywood in Black America. Charles Barkley went out on a limb when this stuff was acting when they were acting crazy. And I'm they missed me like the last time of going into the hall of fame and I was like put on the backburner right house. Barclay stepped up and said on. Nuff is enough and did it publicly. He did it every way you said enough is enough now. This is not right and he stood up as a player and he started educating young players. Like do y'all know who is in our presence with Spencer Haywood Blah Blah. And he started talking about. You know there's like three cases that changed the face of force in one dispenser Haywood Heywood versus the NBA. I went to the Supreme Court and then play a young player. Started like Whoa wait a minute. I know him I see him but I never knew that until Charles was the one that should should should be there. And he's my what you call. My advocate advocate is Just to a good person. Just a wonderful person. Spencer Haywood won Olympic gold medal in one thousand nine hundred sixty eight at age nineteen and signed with the Seattle Supersonics two years later after dominating the ABA and a case that went to the US Supreme Court he sued the NBA or rule that prohibited players being draft until the league until they waited for years after graduating from high school. He won that case and nineteen eighty. He won a world championship with the Los Angeles Lakers as a twenty rookie in nineteen sixty nine. Seventy season he led the American Basketball Association both scoring and rebounding and was named the League's Most Valuable Player and rookie of the year. One on April twenty seven nineteen forty nine and silver city Mississippi into a family of Chen Children Hayward grew up in a dying era of American history. His mother picked cotton for two dollars a day and Heywood joined her in the field at the age of five hundred sixty four he moved to Chicago then to Detroit in the motor city. He leads pershing high school to the one thousand nine hundred sixty seven Michigan class. A State Basketball Championship. He went on to a stellar careers at Trinidad State Junior College and the University of Detroit in the summer of nineteen nine hundred sixty eight. He helped the United States to a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Mexico City on September. The eleventh. Two Thousand Fifteen. Hey what was inducted into Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of fame? My first reaction was You know is this fact in. Is this true because I had had Three falls a long before that because most reporters and most people who look at numbers and they at by numbers as a player and that this guy was. Mvp of the ABA averaging thirty and twenty five years with the Seattle Supersonics average in twenty six and thirteen and Olympic record holder and all of these different categories and as still as leading score and also was the outstanding college player of the year. So they look at all these things and they just assume that everybody thought again. Then you know also I went to the Supreme Court to fight he would versus the NBA to pave the way for Lebron's Michael Jordan magic. All of them they come through what is called. I the NBA. They call it early entry and now. I think it should be called what it is to Spencer. Haywood because they have the Larry Bird rule and they have Oscar Robertson. Rule regrettably Oscar but I know they promote birds and Larry Bird's modified version of my role. Larry Bird came in on a dispenser. It will but anyway so for years we thought this would happen and then there was a couple of false alarms that it did happen. So I was kidding around with John Deliver with the The Chairman and CEO. The hall and he was mentioning. You know. Well I probably spend Kareem. Rise is always the top. Yeah I said well. What does that got to do with with Kareem abdul-jabbar? My my blonde jokes Right so so Yeah it was. It was delighted. Mandic to get the call and to finally get to call it. Finally get it in but you know my mother used to sing this whole Psalm Lord and may not come when you want and buddies right on time. And that's my Jackson right so you know if it had to happen any other time. I think it would have been not as powerful as it is today and It was right on time. And it's on God's time so I'm very grateful and very humble Vita journey understand so once. You heard that you were going to be inducted. Walk us through that period from the time that you got to call to the induction ceremony that took place last Friday. September the eleventh. What all the activities have you been involved with. Well I've been all over the country Speaking and people wanting to know this story because it's a unique story and it is basketball history but yeah you know it hasn't been told so It's a new newfound appreciation for Spencer. Haywood so players have been embracing me like only at USA basketball here. In Las Vegas Games all the players on that team Blake Griffin. All of the young guys coming up and giving me hugs and kisses and thanking me. Because you know that situation just in terms of dollars and cents per Lebron James. He's got an extra one hundred million dollars. Coby got a one extra one hundred million dollars but griffin got extra fifty million dollars Kevin Durant who give me a big hug. 'cause he's got seventy five million dollars extra so that's the numbers in dollars and sense that. I give you an example of what it is because with with four years. If you have to wait for years after your high school classic graduate you would lose that kind of capital and you'll lose that plan time loser scoring titles you'll lose numbers that will help them get into the hall. Later on those numbers would be raced. And you don't know what's going to happen in four years in college. You could get hurt. A lot of things could happen so they fully appreciating news. So it's a good feeling because of forty four years more to this to happen so it is It is right on time on God. Signed so and then I went to I've been doing a lot of golf. Tournaments or charitable events and also just playing a lot and I spend a Lotta time with my family. My daughters and in fact I gotTA leave Again next week my next two oldest daughters having our first grand and So I gotta go in go through the process with her and It is it is a spectacular time and I also sit back John and and think about the times we were sitting in your dad's barber shop. They all sunset and this and just Nevada in Detroit for people who don't know right in Detroit Michigan and John Fathers where we congregate And and and and do our conversation and get a nice. Yeah because he didn't allow us to walk around. I hair off falling away years and stuff. So that's right. Yeah you know that's right So we would sit there and listen and talk and just pass the ball sports but all so I've been reflecting on Detroit. I went over to my neighborhood yesterday. day before yesterday and spent some time over there. Thursday and looking around and just just hearing up. Because done you know the story you know. When I came up from Mississippi I had no place to say I had no family there and James and either bill took in and adopted me along with my coach. Will Robinson and then we had waned diet. Dr Wayne die of your your own zone by Diet. Right Do all of my academics bring me up to snuff there. Oh my God it was just A. It's just a lot of love was having an and I see in Detroit and it's always been that way you know. They've always reached out and help each
Why Is Snoop Dogg In a Social-Media Feud With Gayle King?
"This feud sparked between Snoop Duke Dog and Gayle King after a controversial controversial interview aired between Gayle King and WNBA EX player. Lisa Leslie and and the issue stemmed from the enemy between the two when Gayle King asked Lisa Leslie if she thought Kobe. Bryant's legacy as complicated because of vase sexual assault charge back in two thousand three and interview Gilkey kind of persists as she pushes on the issue asking if the entire situation should be left in the past or is it really part of his history and let me pause right there. Oh quick so I can give my two sons. I don't think that was the correct time nor the place to mention that especially during you know this grieving time that Koby. Bryant's family is going through. So I definitely think Gayle King messed up right there by even mentioning are bringing that up. You're bringing up a Sexual assault case that was dismissed into dozen three and she had all those all those years to bring it up and talk about it when Coby Bryan was here but you decide talk about it when he's gone and he's not even there to defend themselves. So that's where my issue it. And that's where Snoop Dogg had an issue with as well like I said the case case was dismissed into doesn't three thousand four because the victim didn't want to testify and how Lisa Leslie responded to this question Shen She states I think the media should be more respectful at this time. I don't think it's something that we should keep hanging over his legacy and I hi. One hundred percent agree with Lisa. Leslie's answer I think she said it perfectly the like I said they had all those years to talk about the issue. She won't question Kobe Bryant but they wait until after he passes to bring up the issue and honestly. That's probably one of my biggest concerns with the media. I I know it's ironic because I'm in media. You know I do these podcast. I talk about entertainment news but my when I my thing with media is just being more sensitive imprudent with questions when you're interviewing everyone I know like the whole point with media like the you know you're trying to get the first exclusive interview or you're trying to be the first one find out about something but like I just think that a lot up journalists and people involved in the media industry needed just be a little more prudent and especially when it involves deaths and grieving and mourning of someone who we we all lost really. I think you know we need to be a little more respectful when it comes to that so following the interview dots. All the heat came came up many criticize gayle king honestly such as myself. I raised my eyebrows when I saw that interview clip and Snoop Dogg. Also criticised is who told her explicitly. Respect the family and back off. Be If you know what I mean by be you know what I mean by being before we come get get you okay. That's what snoop said honestly kinda sounds like a threat before we come get you you know and we all know uncle snoop. That's that's not a threat that's a promise. Almost like knowing snoop dogg's background and amongst the he said some other explicit very like vile language. Honestly that I will not I repeat on this episode on so Snoop Dogg was explicitly telling her like we're GonNa come get you and like calling her all these names and you you know following all the criticism Gayle King. Try to explain herself. Her side of the story via twitter stating that many people took her question out of context tax since. CBS News only posted the clip of that one particular question regarding Kobe Bryant so in her defense she stating you know things. Things are out of context. CBS News they only showed one part of the interview. They didn't like the four hour. I didn't Ask about the rape allegations asked about this this and that his family his relationship with other MBA players. But still even don't like my purse again. This is all opinion of mine right. My opinion still stands in which I still don't think Gayle King should have even brought up those rape allegations allegations or sexual assault case. That was dismissed years ago to taint his legacy or like to. I Dunno spiral some type of conversation nation especially during this extremely sensitive and crucial time where Vanessa Bryant and his girls and his family are just grieving still. I just don't think it was a time time or place and I don't think it should ever be brought up really ever. It hasn't been talked about in years and years. So why does Gayle King. What a bring it up and talk about the specific issue shoe now now that he has passed now that he's not here to defend themselves so I still stand in my position in which she should not have even brought up that a question

No everybody pretty much. Let's talk about his mom. And METALLICA. Has Effect on me like everything put in basketball at school like work watching coby on TV was like I think it was really inspiring. That's probably why I'm out for ball now because all these great players especially coby got me out on the court talk but micro growing up. Kobe was blake a really big role model. Kobe Bryant on Life, Love and Legacy
"This has been very challenging twenty four hours for me Kobe. Bryant just passed and my condolences thoughts love prayers to his family and the families that were involved the other passengers messengers who pass and their family. I had the honour of sitting down with coby about a year ago and talking about love talking about life talking about beautiful things and when I heard the news I was like most people in shock. I checked to confirm firm that it was not fake and then I laid around for almost twenty four hours and reflected and really just heard stories about how much he meant to people watch videos thought about my time with him reflected on the pain that the family must be going through and the families of the victims That were involved in this accident and just really sad really sad about the whole situation Shen and I can only imagine you know me being sad as someone who barely knew him and knew him for an hour of time in a few text messages. Afterwards I feel sad for the people that knew him very well and Kalihi Magin the pain that they're feeling and the hurt and the confusion and I just want and I sent lots of love to everyone involved who truly knew Kobe. An intimate way and a lot of people have been asking me to to rush reshare the interview with him. They said it was one of the most powerful interviews that ever seen with him. They said they never heard him talk about the things he talked about. Can we talk talk about love and intimacy and the questions that he has yet to answer for himself. We talked about so many different moments in his career. Your moments from his childhood and so many people Afterwards told me that it was one of the most powerful episode. ESPN cut up multiple clips and unshared it all over social media and their website and I was flattered by this. I just you know was a curious person loved his work. I loved his The way he thought his mentality his work ethic and as a fan I just wanted to great interview at our member. Getting getting the opportunity to sit down with him. I wanted to share with you my lessons from what I learned about him. And then make sure that I WE'RE GONNA post a full interview as well. Well attached to this. But I wanted to share my thoughts of what I experienced and the type of man that I experienced when I got to sat down with him. It was crazy. I was talking with Tiffany. Who Films and edits the podcast? Because she went to his office with me and so I was reflecting with her saying him. What was it like for you and we're going back and forth? So here's what happened. Here's the story and I want you to know how powerful this person wants. And how humble at the same time he was someone on our podcast team had said. Hey Kobe's publicist and reach out to me and is looking to do some press. Talk talk about his new podcast opinions and he said he's only free like three weeks out. He's got a couple of window that are open up the time that opened in a few weeks. Are you vailable and I said call them back. Tell them I'll be there I tomorrow morning because we don't book this right now. How three weeks to pass and they're going to reschedule and reschedule and it's Never GonNa happen so I said do not hang up the phone until you get them to confirm? I will go anywhere anywhere anytime anyplace tomorrow morning. You just tell me when and where I will be there. I said do not hang up until you get them to confirm And they get back to us and say okay tomorrow morning. His office which is in Orange County seven thirty. A M I think is when it was supposed to start sometime Tom early sometime before the work day was seven thirty eight. AM or something. I said great done now. This was about five or six o'clock at night the night before and I'm going to a concert this night to support another guest we had on Lindsey stirling so you had a concert in La. I said I'll be there so I ended up going the concert. She doesn't come on too late and I don't get back to about twelve thirty now. I'm I'm I've got the big interview done in about in eight hours right and I haven't prepared yet I haven't prepared and I'm kind of nervous but I'm also like this is going to be amazing like I'm so excited for this. It was also so better than I didn't have a week to prepare in my mind because I think it would have built it up too much. I would have been maybe a little nervous or not sure and it was actually perfect. So I- i- tiffany. WHO's filming comes over? Grabs the camera gear around five. AM or something. And I'm like we gotta get there early. We need to make an hour and a half early. Like the publicist said. We only have twenty minutes. We've got to be ready. You need to turn the camera on the lights on the Mike's on it's got to be ready to go get the most out of this in twenty minutes. Now she comes over. We get the camera we hop in my car and I start playing during the first two episodes of his podcast puny. which if you haven't down the peonies it's amazing and parents? You gotta you gotTa have your kids. Listen to this and it's really going to Continue to further legacy of what he created because they're really inspiring cartoon episodic cartoons for kids to overcome doubt out in insecurity and fear and all these things that we talk about in the school greatness. So I listened the first two episodes and I'm just like wow this guy's talented as a storyteller as director as a writer he is talented. He's not just great basketball player. He's a talented storyteller. And I go tiffany. You know we got about an hour and a half drive so I go. Tiffany like find everything. You can't any unique fact any detail about Kobe's life what I need to know early days parents you I know living in Italy well how many languages has really speak. Just tell me everything you can think of. And she's downloading me and I'm just taking all in as I'm driving down there. Now we're taking the four four or five down to Orange County right and so then we finally get there. It's probably a no six thirty. Six forty five am and this is one the most memorable things that I'll always remember about coby so we get there. We're waiting in the lobby of this building. That he's in his offices Dan and were there for maybe ten fifteen minutes I call the the publicist or the person coordinating as assistant at the time to let us in and she lets US Santa about ten fifteen minutes later and so we go into the office. There's no one there. There's no one there. She's turning the lights on. It's this nice media business office office right. We go in there and she's like okay. Here's where we normally film and this location where they normally found was not in my opinion up to standards of the visuals that I wanted to have to represent the sooner bureau so I said can we look around the office and see if there's any other space to maybe set up a little mini studio. She said sure so. We walk around and we we go down this long haul and as long hallway has all these kind of Offices to the sides of each side of the hallway with big windows does the you can see inside the board room booking offices and as I'm walking down I see the lights. Were off and most of them and and I don't think anything of it but I keep walking down and I see the other end of the office. I'm like nat like this over here. Let's walk back and as we're walking back down this kind of glass hallway alway of offices I take a glimpse over to my left and I see this one office all the lights are off and I see us just a figure in the back corner looking up. No computer on no phone on just sitting at a desk looking into the ceiling is what it looked like. And I'm like that's Coby coby. He's in the office at six. Forty five am sitting there little dreaming. I don't even know what he was doing. He was just looking up and not working not on any device just their lights off and I was like what am I asked her. I go is that Colby. Toby and she's like yeah. I go here. I thought no one was here. She goes oh he's been here for at least an hour like A. What are you kidding me? An Hour I'm like what's he doing. He's preparing for the day. He's got a lot to do today after you. who was coming at little Wayne was coming in to do an interview to interview him? After me. A bunch of different meetings and projects he was working on. And I was like little Wayne's coming in right after me. So he's whole production crew is they're setting setting up about an hour later. It was crazy right so I go. Wow so he's been here for these hours she goes Oh yeah he's always the first one end and and typically the last one to leave what this is so in that moment I was just blown away. Because here's a man who has done it all at this time he'd already won an Oscar he had five NBA Championships Olympic gold medalist. Twenty years in the League. He'd done it all made eight a ton of money. He had nothing else to prove and forty years old. I one in the office hours before anyone
Jimmy Kimmel ditched his studio audience for a somber tribute to Kobe
"Jimmy Kimmel. Who does this show from here in L. A. had coby on his show fifteen times times and was so affected By the accident and by his death that he decided to send the studio audience home last night he did not have a studio the audience and he opened his show by saying this. Hi I'm Jimmy Kimmel and tonight show is going to be different from our usual. We'll show we don't have a studio audience here tonight because going forward with a comedy show didn't feel right considering what happened yesterday. So I'd like to speak to you. Directly we as you undoubtedly know Koby Bryant and his daughter Jonah and seven of their friends were killed in a helicopter crash yesterday here in Los Angeles and that was a punch in the gut for many of us. Kobe was and I know this might not make sense but he was just the last person you could ever imagine something like this happening to. He was so strong and handsome and smart and energetic he was a hero. And when I say that I don't mean hero like real heroes like firefighters or doctors and nurses who actually save lives. I don't mean to compare what he did for a living moving to what they do. I know there are more important. Things have basketball. Almost everything is more important but Kobe was a hero in the way. Superman is a hero. He was so big. It was almost like he was a fictional character. A real life superhero with a costume and everything walking amongst us. Those of us. Who Love the Lakers? No it seemed like he always came through. He always showed up to save the day he wanted to save the day. He had a force of will will. He never gave up as an athlete. He was incredibly gifted more than almost anyone. He was talented beyond reasoning. Yet he worked harder than everyone. He work harder than people with much less talented he had. He took his job and his pursuit of excellence so seriously he was completely dedicated to being as good as he possibly could be which is inspiring to anyone who does anything and we loved him because of that but we also loved him because he was ours we watched him grow up here he came to La when he was a teenager and unlike almost every other superstar athlete he never left in his twenty year career he will only wear to uniforms. Forums for the Lakers and for the United States Olympic team. There were times when it seemed like he would leave but he didn't he stayed until the end and e someone almost everyone in. This city loved not just Lakers fans. Everyone would light up when they saw myself. Many times he was special he was a special person a great basketball player for sure but more than that he had so many interests outside of sports he was intensely curious he would call people. He admired to interview them. Business leaders writers inventors. He was always learning always improving hunger for that when he was injured when he tore his Achilles. I sent him a book and he to my surprise prize's read it and then called me to discuss it in maniacal detailing want to know everything about it and then I was like. I don't know Kobe. I didn't write it. I just bought the book and I had to put them in touch with the guy who wrote the book and that's what he was like. I'd many conversations Kobe off of television and they always involved his daughter's water's always you. Once retired for basketball his life revolved around their lives. He was very proud of them. He loved being a father when my son had heart surgery he he checked in with me repeatedly he made a point once. Billy my son was out of the hospital to meet him. He wanted to meet him and from time to time. You check in to see how he was doing and yes I know he was not a perfect person. I understand that a my intention is not to canonize him or or make judgements about things. I don't know anything about but I will say he loved this family. He worked very hard and he brought a lot of joy to a lot of people in this city. And we're going to miss him and I hope you'll pray for his daughter Jonah. And for their mother Vanessa for the three girls. Kobe left behind lost their father and their sister and his friends were on that flight. Within the Altobelli Family Christina mousers family. Chester family are as a buy-in the pilot. I can't imagine how much they are missed. This was a terrible loss for those families and the Lakers for Kobe teammates fans. It's just there's no silver lining here. It's it's all bad. It's all sad. He was a bright light. And that's how I wanNA remember him and you're hitting all sorts of reactions like this Carmelo Anthony any now. Just put up an instagram post. Chris Paul put up an instagram posts. I think people are starting people who have been able to utter a word the last two days. We've seen Lebron last night now. Carmelo and C. P. Three today read part of the Carmelo. Anthony Post he says I hate when I have so much to say but I can't put any of it into words the times I have the most to say are the Times that I can't talk. I'm screaming inside but I can't be heard you don't know how hard it is to pretend to smile when I have these clouds of emotions you you just called me and told me you were coming to the game Friday and that you were proud of me so colby colby had talked to Carmelo and was planning to be at the game Friday night
Glen Keane Was Drawn to Kobe Bryant for 'Dear Basketball'
"When Kobe Bryant retired twenty sixteen he penned a farewell letter to to the game that he called dear basketball? It was later turned into an animated short film by veteran animator. Glen Keane with music by John Williams the composer for star our wars and other classic films. This is all I have left to give a mind can in handle the grind body news time to say goodbye. Dear Basketball won an academy award in two thousand. Eighteen keen is a former Disney animator. Her you'd never met Kobe prior to the making of deer basketball and he told me about that nervous first meeting when Kobe and his family visited his animation studio that day. He he showed up with Vanessa and the girls and we brought him an and there was this moment of like. Uh what's Kobe going to think of. This tiny little studio was in little duplex. And I mean it wasn't like the big fancy studios this and you looked around and saw the sketches on the wall. And you know for a moment I thought oh I know. He's got to be disappointed. Did he said it's perfect. Yeah they're recording of of Kobe's monologue. His his read comes comes off is Very intimate what conversations. Did you have with him about the recitation of of the peace. Did you sort sort of guide him or coach him at all. We walk down the street from our little studio too recording studio at the end of a point Setia. Yeah it's a recording studio. Where actual Michael Jackson recorded thriller and Coby was so nervous to go in there like this? I mean he's such a fan of Michael Jackson's work and when we came time to record Kobe was very quiet he he delivered it in in a very simple straightforward conversational way. I thought okay. Good well he's got that done. Now he's going to deliver something more dramatic second time exactly clearly the same their time delivered exactly the same and at that point I realized this is it. Kobe's going to deliver something very pure entirely sincere. Not Inflected selected not dramatized. He's not performing. He's revealing who he is and it became the the driver for for the the way. Every part of this whole piece was going to be. I am wondering if he was thinking in terms of creating something that would speak speak for itself after he was gone. Not only from the basketball court but from from life An and was he thinking about his legacy and future generations nations and how they viewed him for Kobe. He knew what he had done in setting a path for others. So this was this was his purpose us very much to inspire new generations beyond him. I mean that was very intentional. Talking to coby he would have this intense fierce look in his eyes that would his spirit spirit in this movie had to connect to you in a very visceral way like him and I told the Kobe Kobe. I can't just animate you moving across in shooting the ball. I have to know what's in your head. What's in your heart? How how are you feeling? So we went shot by shot through Youtube of Kobe's twenty greatest plays and he remembered -membered every moment and described that moment why he was able to do that shot. What was his intention? I could live live in his skin. That's what was for nanometer. It's all about living in the skin of someone you animate. I mean there was a a His fade shot. Where he he would throw his right hip out a little bit left? Hip was just back just for enough enough and then you know he would come at the opponent and then back off and leap up into the air at a certain angle and do the whole thing and I studied it and I knew it I knew it exactly the angle of his hand so I mean early on. I said Kobe. You've got the worst basketball player in the world animating. Neal Neil said that's okay Glenn because everything you learn about basketball is going to be through studying him so after film was done we. You're at the Lakers. Training Center and the lights were off on the court and I walked in and grabbed a basketball. I thought I can do this. I mean this was so much about Kobe. Set your mind to it and you study and you you can do it so I got the ball. I went way back into a three point shot. I mean way back. I wasn't making it easy on myself. And I travelled ball then I jumped and through my right hip out and my hand was ninety degrees everything and all the way to releasing the ball and coby would say you know even after the ball was off of his fingertips. I felt like still had enough control. If I pull my finger back might just not bounce too hard on the backboard. I mean there was this mystical connection between him and the ball and I felt all of that insight as released the ball. It was flying. I could not believe it straight for the basket ask it on a perfect arc Iran. I was dumbfounded and that fell ten feet short. But how do you read the words now in the aftermath of this tragedy. "Say it's really good for the first three picks. After that, you know, it's kind of a toss up and given how much the number four pick may be in play. I think it could get really interesting. You know what surprised me? And maybe on late to the game on some trend here. But I looked at somebody's predicted picks for the first round, and I saw minus the overseas players who maybe a little older. One senior. Yeah, I the kid from a university of Washington. The rest dominated by freshmen and sophomores. Well, it's gotten to the point. Now where if you stay in college till your senior year, there's something wrong with you. And, and in fact, it's, it's a Mark against you. You know why, why weren't you able to come out? So I've found that the, you know, if you look back stark, we lie the greatest players to come out of college and make it in the pros, work guys, who stayed for four years, ran eldest jumps to my mind right away. Because he was here. And yet, that seems to have passed now it's, it's you know, as I Williamson and they Barrett and various garland and Coby white. They're all freshmen Gondree, hunters, sophomore and relatives. They're, they're like season, you know, if you can get seasons out, they listen, this isn't going to change more than I mean, it's gonna move backwards the other way they're going to be taking kids out of high school very quickly. And so we'll get used to it. Senior is, is basically an outcast. What do you see with the Kevin Durant injury? As the impact on this draft. I think this is I mean. Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson, not only got injured. They change the entire NBA when they got injured. Suddenly there was a rush in Los Angeles to get that Anthony Davis fields on which is now moved a lot of other players around the board because they on opening, you know, the LEGO space, Golden State was perfectly healthy and had won the championship. I don't care who lebrons put on his team with them. They weren't going to beat them. But now the sudden it's like, hey, it's wide open here. And yeah, maybe Portland gets better. Maybe maybe Houston finally gets attacked together. But on the other hand, they weren't able to make it before, and your Los Angeles is trying to make an all out push. I think for a third guy to sign with Anthony Davis. And all I can say things better, better going, heavy aerobic training thing because then they only have five guys team right now. So there's no substitute. You know, the good news. We got really great players. The bad news. Anybody buys them, and as we saw with the NBA finals this year. That is a lot more important than you think if you really look at, you know, pure talent you could argue the pure talent at least in the starting lineup Golden State had had way, more of it, but look ended up winning Toronto with guys like vanfleet and, and Serge Ibaka, and other people coming off the bench. So I'm not convinced you can just do this with with three or four three star starters..

"Eight shooting against the cardinals on Saturday. Cam Johnson six nine graduate transfer at a moon township Pennsylvania that such a great year shooting the basketball forty seven percent from behind the arc. But for the first time all season did not hit a three in the last game against Louisville. Luke maye, six eight senior at huntersville, averaging fourteen and a half points. That is sixteen best in the ACC better than ten rebounds per contest that has tops in the conference and garrison Brooks six nine sophomore, Lafayette, Alabama, averaging nine points and five and a half rebounds per game, Carolina's traditional home whites with the Carolina blue numbers letters and trimmed the Argyle all the way down the side of uniforms and shorts. Notre Dame and navy blue road today with the gold numbers letters in Trump three very familiar names at the official spot Roger airs, Jamie lucky and Ted Ballantyne Mr. airs throwing the. The ball in the air and Carolina wins the opening tip as Kenny Williams brings it in. He'll give it to Coby white. And as you may have heard ROY Williams say tar heels are facing a zone, and they'll shoot a three and three Toby white got the pass from Brooks and Kobe berries, the triple from the right side. Always a good time. When you make your first shot and particularly after the ball movement. He knew it was going to happen. You knew you were going to see zone. How Carolina was going to play against was the question. I possession under your under your belt tarheels made three three pointers the entire game on Saturday, the freshman hub in the left corner. He's in trouble picking up his dribble and has to take time out Gobi white closed in on him after hub picked up the basketball and with just seven seconds left on the shot clock. Only thirty nine seconds gone in the game. A timeout is called so Carolina. Nice start Eric as you mentioned move the ball in the middle of. Zone. Good pass by Brooks out to white for the three. And then they force the very early time out by the Irish do you look at what Carolina did they extended their defense way out now against this team. You gotta be careful because although they do have an inside presence in muni and Eski, but you've really got to be careful when you do that and protect the goal. They had good back core in the middle. They had protection with garrison Brooks inside. And you saw that hard man to man pressure found the corner where you got an extra defender in the out of bounds line in bounced taken away by Coby Whitey as it poked from behind out of bounds by Prentice hub. But white stole the inbounds, then hub saved the easy bucket for the heels by punching it away white still has that. Right wrist and kind of the pace of his Tom heavily tape for memory took that big spill in the second half and the game on Saturday, but his fully available today. Inbounds goes to garrison. Brooks. Tar heels up three nothing ball into the paint right side to make good Passover left corner. Johnson for three in and out. Boy that thing was seventy five percent of the way in but pop down and moody brought in the rebound for Notre Dame. In the frontcourt. Tries to hand off to Gibbs in all -fensive foul called on hub as he ran into Kenny Williams who tried to take away the hand off. So hub was trying to hand it to Gibbs Williams kinda got him between them and hub called for the foul. So couple of nice defensive efforts here early for Carolina against his own may gets into the paint. His one handed floater is no good from in front of the Ramat. Another rebound for Notre Dame. Laszewski. Brought that one in. So the hills have had good looks on every shot, but only one of them gone in so far Carolina three nothing. Eighteen forty to go first half. Harvey out near the time line one on one with Cam Johnson right handed dribble into the paint, heavy traffic and a foul is called. This is on Cam Johnson as Brooks had gone over to help on the driving Harvey and a lot of contact between the three players, but the foul called on Johnson is his first. So that'll put Harvey at the line seventy-five percent shooter there. Nothing Monette on the first makes it three to one Harvey really good at keeping the ball. Low is still ball handler and sorta lay on that occasion attacked. Candy. We're going to be an early entry. Kenny Williams spell inside. The lane is Harvey was he bounces a little bit at the foul line. So if you're if you're leaning you can go into quickly. That's what happened. Now harvey'll have is last attempt, and it's up and good. So that's frustrating for the tar heels.

"Offensive player. I think Kareem was committed to the sport. I think Jerry West Larry Bird. Magic johnson. I think Michael Jordan's as committed as any player in league history. Harden? Had his jersey retired at a Houston strip club. Kobe got to jerseys retired at the Staples. Coby is known as the greatest practice player in the history of the Lakers. And from what I'm told Magic Johnson would tell ya. It ain't close. Kobe. Bryant in commitment is the most relentless practice player. Most intense off the camera performer only one closes MJ hardened by the way, was traded out of Oklahoma City because of concerns that he wasn't totally committed. Then he went to Houston and proved it by showing up at a strip club in our after he'd been eliminated in a playoff series. So does that let us as a matter? Yep. Not close does commitment matter yet, not close. Now. Let's talk about like actual games. What's the greatest playoff moment and James Harden's career? Dear all wait. 'cause Coby got six seven eight nine on my mental Rolodex right now. Let's go to eras you think James Harden's had it a little easier. Never played with a hand check has played in an era with European centers who are seven feet to one hundred nine pounds. They weigh slightly more than a Triscuit Kobe Bryant played half his career in the hand check era. And by the way, played when we had centers who were domestic way two hundred eighty and it was their job to physically punish you. If you went to the rim. I don't even need to compare James harden to the all time greatest. He doesn't come close to stacking up to one player. Kobe bryant. Let's get back to the Troy Aikman Kirk cousins comparison I made. The knock on Aikman was always that. Well, I mean, he had a great coach. And so many great players around him. Of course, the knock on Kobe as well he played with shack. And he had Phil Jackson today. James harden is closer to Kirk cousins than Troy Aikman. Lot of money. Move to a couple of teams, I one doubted him. He has great stats and is never showed up big in the playoffs. Yeah. I said it right now James harden is a stat monster right now Kirk cousins is a stat monster both are highly compensated both of let their fan bases down in big spots and Cobian Aikman though. They did have hall of fame level coaches. And they did have great supporting casts have never been given the true credit. They deserve much of it with Aikman because he played with a great running game. A great coach and a great offensive line. A great defense and hall of fame wide receiver, but leadership toughness playing in crisis Aikman's one of the eight best quarterback I've ever seen. I put it on the screen many times and Kobe Bryant did have Phil Jackson did have shack and did have the Laker brand. He's also one of the best players. I've ever seen play basketball. James harden is not only not one of the great offensive players of all time. He doesn't come close. To comparing to Kobe Bryant. Let me shift to football. I just saw this story. Reading this morning in the sporting news fine publication, NFL ratings saw a boost on every channel FOX NBC's CBS, Monday night football every single channel. And in fact, the story says the key to it is we've got more homes verses Baker Mayfield..

I'm not in the television business. I'm in the story business. I relate stories tell stories try to create stories that's all I've ever done. This year. We had six riveting stories. Let's go over them. People will tell you the reason the NFL the ratings are up this year is blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. The reason ratings are up is because the previous two years. We didn't have a really compelling gripping story the one we had was about politics more than football. Let's talk about the six stories that we had this year that you couldn't keep your eyes off number one Patrick Mahomes. Oh my God. Who's Patrick Mahomes handed passes? No look passes. We didn't watch him play much in college ninety yard throws in practice. Oh my God. Who is this kid the second big story this year? And again, I'm in the story business was hey Baker Mayfield this cocky, kid can play Mayfield is what TV radio.
