Navy and Coast Guard recover China spy balloon debris
"China says it will safeguard its interests over its balloon the United States shot down Saturday as the U.S. works to retrieve all the parts that landed in the waters off the Carolina coast. China's foreign ministry calls it a weather balloon and says the country will continue to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests. Washington says it's a spy balloon and has no intention of returning the debris. Frank won that last one. That is a big hill. Here's what we have. The coast guard crews rescuing a boater in distress as the boat the yacht, 35 foot in size. Rolled at cape disappointment yesterday, according to police in Astoria, the boater, 35 year old Jericho, the body, accused of stealing the boat we just learned, is also suspected of leaving a large dead fish on the porch of The Goonies house, which is located there. You recall the movie. The houses there in Astoria. According to the coast guard, two air crews were on a training mission at the mouth of the Columbia river when they got the mayday call from the boat that was floundering in his surf. A boat crew was also called out from the station there for coast guard at cape disappointment. They said the circle just too high and too windy for them to go. So they took out a helicopter there, rescue swimmer, brand new. They put him in the water, he jumped into the water as the vessel then capsized, you probably seen some of the video. The rescue swimmer was able to safely get Lebanon he was flown back to a story of coast guard base for a medical evaluation. He will then look and meet with the police there in Astoria. US stops hundreds fleeing Cuba, Haiti by sea, returns most
"Hundreds of migrants are fleeing Cuba and Haiti by sea to Florida. But most of them are being sent back. I'm Ben Thomas with the latest. The coast guard says it's returned another 177 Cuban migrants cona Florida's coast earlier this month back to Cuba. Meanwhile, a group of 25 Haitians who fled the turmoil in their country aboard a sailboat, swam ashore near downtown Miami. U.S. customs and border protection says they've been taken into custody, while others still aboard the boat were being processed by federal officials at sea. That typically means their return to their home countries with inflation soaring and economic conditions deteriorating in their home countries increasing numbers of Cuban and Haitian migrants have been attempting the risky Florida state's crossing in recent months. "All right, what about an airliner? So you can say there isn't one too, if you don't like one, but your favorite airliner of all time, or that's currently flying. All right, you probably gonna call me crazy, but the embryo one 75. It's the most comfortable. Absolutely. Passenger airplane. I love flying on the one 75. It is easily the most comfortable airplane as a passenger. I will a 100% agree with you. Yep. Unless you're in first class at like a 7 87. That's different. But for me who can only afford economy on my own, I choose a one 75 any day. Oh yes. What is something you wish you knew before you became a pilot? How many regulations there are to learn to know? I mentioned my instructor had been out of the instructing realms for a while when I first became a pilot. So he didn't really do a good job of teaching me sparring, and it took me, I didn't realize how important it was, because he didn't make that appear. So after I got my private puzzle, I really started digging in and realizing how important it is to know your fars. One of those things. That's difficult to go back to that mentality because it's not fun. If you get all the fun stuff at first, you're less likely to want to dig into the unfun stuff because you're like, I just like flying. I don't care about the far aim. Yeah. All right, who in the industry would you like to meet most? Oh man. Gosh. It could be famous. They could have passed on by now. They could still be alive. It could be like orville and Wilbur, Amelia Earhart, anyone like that. Oh, I love to meet Amelia Earhart. That would be really cool. What is your favorite thing about aviation? Overall, choose one thing, what's your favorite thing? Freedom. What's the hardest approach or flight you've ever flown? I was in my cessna one 50 doing an ILS approach back to Edinson with 29 wins, have it was about a mile of visibility, I guess. Oh, nice. And yeah, it was like my first actual approach in the airplane too. So it was exhilarating. And I was super happy to pop out of the clouds and she can read out the ground a little bit. You know, maybe, maybe a little bit, but it was just probably just pure exhilaration of, I just did that, you know? It was super cool. That's cool. What's your favorite approach or your favorite flight you've ever had? One slider, like because if I have to say, it would be technical one 50 from coast to coast, but that was like 20 flights. That counts. I can cut as one. Okay. That's funny. Dang, that's a long, that's a long week right there. It was. Yeah. What is your overall favorite airport you've ever landed at? It's our hard one. All of them. I mean, I enjoy all the everything that is unique about every single airport out there. I will say in the mountains in North Carolina, Boone and Rutherford and I got it. Let's see, big sandy regional in Kentucky. That's going to be my favorite, yes. The only time I've landed there had a 30 knot crosswind at two O 6 and it was so bumpy. I was so not happy. I was like, I never want to fly again after that. I love SAS because they're so friendly. They literally gave me their Hummer and said, go down the road and get some breakfast. I was like, okay. Thank you. What about you? Do you have a least favorite airport? It's okay if you don't, you know, I said no. Yeah, no. What about IFR VFR? Would you rather fly one or the other? I enjoy the low and slow and look it out at the scenery. What's your favorite airport food? So let's say you are doing a cross country. You did that long cross country on the one 50. What was your favorite kind of airport food to go grab the crew car and go get food and come back what was your go to? I want to say Chick-fil-A. If that's an option. It is Chick-fil-A is always an option. Always an option. It's Sunday. And we can't eat Chick-fil-A, so I'm sad. Oh man. I know. Would you rather fly over mountains, the beach or cities? From a safety standpoint, the beach. But honestly, I really love flying through the mountains. And the beach, honestly. When my first commercial flying job was flying towards down the beach and I absolutely love that job. So it's hard to choose. Airbus are Boeing. If you could choose one plane to fly, what would it be or Embraer? I guess the way you can throw the one 70 and one 75 and therefore. Going or Embraer. Yeah. Long trips or short trips, would you ever fly, let's say you're in your glass air, would you rather fly, one very long trip as long as you can possibly fly or do other fly the max amount of takeoff and landing as you could in one day? Long trip. Yeah. What is the hardest check card you've ever taken? I see a 5. Biggest regret in your career that you have so far. My biggest what? Regret. Regret. Like you'd go back and change it and do it again and you wish you didn't do it though. Or just anything that you say that you might regret in your career. Taking my IFR check right in an aircraft with a GPS when I train in one without a GPS. I can make things a little difficult. It was a little difficult. Honestly threw it, but I was sweating bullets. Oh man, that's the worst. Yeah, do what you're most comfortable. And I highly recommend that if you're comfortable without a GPS and don't use a GPS, it's just going to add too much complexity. Yep. What is the biggest win of your career so far? Probably watching my first student solo and realizing that I made a pilot. I made you part one 41 training or 61. You would recommend it to anyone what would you choose or what would you recommend? 61 is more flexible and you can tailor it to the student, get the maximize the most out of learning and get the most bang for your buck. Favorite aviation themed book. I'm like reading a couple right now. So. I don't just say stick and rudder. All right, there we go. Amy, thank you so much for coming on the pie at the podcast. I've been meaning to get you on for a long time. So I'm glad we finally made it work. I think your story is pretty awesome. I wish you the best and everything you got coming up. I know a big change is coming in a week. You're coming back to the civilian world. And going to be able to chase all your flying dreams. I wish you the best. If you need help with anything, don't hesitate to ask. I sure will. I really appreciate it. It's been super great to be able to be on the podcast with you. Aviation, thank you so much for listening to today's podcast. I appreciate it. Thank you for putting up with my ramblings. Like I said in the beginning, this exit intro won't be this exit, won't be as long as the intro are more from pirates pile up more from pilots coffee. The state of the industry podcast and as well as the student check our podcast. And hopefully some more this year. But aviation, I hope you're having a great day. And as always, happy flying.

"5 years there. Talk a little bit about planning that flight back home with the nerves of the engine with the mountains having to go to the Pacific Northwest. Where did you clean your route? Did you make sure you had airports within guiding orange pretty much at all times? I'm sure there's times that you weren't just talk a little bit about the preparation and an actual flight. So it was a bonding flight for sure between me and Woodstock. It was I had two landings in them before I left on my trek home. So every landing was kind of still new to me and getting a feel for it and it's a very honest airplane. So that was good. But I took was just kind of standard the same I would have planned for my one 50 or any airplane. Other than the fact that it has long range tanks and I could make a lot fewer stops. So I did. When I was when I was between the departure of my first stop, I had a fault light come on on my auxiliary seal tank pump and I was like, oh man, am I not is my pump gone? I'm not going to be able to use all my fuel. That's out there. Turns out it was just a fault light, but it was actually working. So I was able to transfer all my fuel in, but that was about the only squawk I have at the airplane. I did land at gooding, sorry. I didn't let a mountain home, Idaho, because I had a CO detector go off. So things you're dealing with with a new airplane, just little squawks, nothing catastrophic, that was gonna be my next question is, do you have any moments where like, oh crap, what's happening? So I am, you know, I'm a low flyer. I live at sea level. I don't really have a need to go over 6000 feet most of the time. But when I'm flying back in advance, the altitude is pretty high. And I'm at 8595 hundred feet, you know, I've got a little light headed there at a couple times and I was like, you know what? I don't feel that great right now. And then my CO detector went off right after I thought that to myself. And I was like, well, that explains a lot. I took it in some mountain home and I wasn't able to replicate it with an instrument on the ground. So I was like, oh, well, maybe my detectors just salty. Well, that was bad on me. I should have never said that. I should have realized, hey, you didn't feel right back there. How we can rationalize stuff like that, right? Was that? It's funny how you can rationalize or talk yourself into like, oh, you kind of forget the whole symptoms you just are focused on one thing. You're like, oh, I'll be fine. Exactly. And then you have, okay, miles get there right is because if I have to stop and fix this airplane in Idaho, I'm not going to get home. You know? So it's like, eh, you may be I was just not feeling what I thought. Either way, I brought it back home. It turns out I was getting trace amounts of CO and the cockpit, which I later fixed, but yeah, if I could go back and try it again, I would definitely have taken that fresh detector of the mechanic and did a lap around a pattern to see if I could replicate it in flight. Because I just tried to replicate it on the ground, which obviously didn't show anything when I was getting it back to her after the telco. That's where that's where I had to plug up the leak. So yeah, it's a super high altitude. I'm not used to flying. I'm sure a trace amount of CEO probably could maybe do a little strange. Absolutely. It's kind of, you know, your body better than anyone else. Have you ever seen anything weird? Like, it's okay to tap out. Go land somewhere else. It's not worth crossing. Going into the back country feeling like that, then you're stuck and then you're feeling like you're forced to get out and get their itis comes in, you know? Absolutely. I watched the recent story from Dan bass, fellow who landed his Mooney or crash landed as moody after he passed out from CO poisoning. And in his interview, he talked about the way he felt the way he had his giant anxiety anxiety and his chest and a feeling that he needed to land right now and he didn't even know why. I was like, that was me. That's how I felt. I felt like I need to land right now and I have no idea why. That was a feeling I got right before my CO detector went off. So it's kind of crazy. That is crazy. So your body was definitely telling you. And I feel like in that case, a lot of pilots can get nervous of what people think of when they land if nothing's wrong. It's like, well, I could just be overthinking. It's like, well, you should land until it's better to know you're thinking on the ground than to be up in the air and you're passed out. So it's worth the embarrassment of the mechanic that you'll probably never see again in a random airport. And you're like, yo, this is fine. What's your deal, you know? Yeah, yeah, exactly. Funny. All right, Amy, well, those are pretty much all the questions. Actually, I guess the other question is, we kind of talked about your future, but what's the next step for you, getting out of the coast guard? Is it getting your multi CF double I said you're working on? Do you want to go back to instructing? And building your time that way, or would you like to see yourself get into a boutique PC 12 right C job as soon as possible? So I realized that I have been away from flying a little bit. You're not flying as much as I used to. And I really would love to get back into instructing to get myself kind of up to speed and super proficient. Because I'll tell people, I don't feel ready to go do an iOS down the minimums and a PC tool right now. There's no way. So I need probably a good few months of hard or flying to get myself back up to speed. You know, get back on that bicycle or a horse or however you want to phrase that. Insert whatever. Answer whatever. Get back in the airplane and just get super proficient and comfortable with flying again. So to me, that's going to be instructing, especially with the way jobs are looking right now and I've got about just over a thousand hours and so the job outlook for pilots with a thousand hours is probably the same as it used to be for pilots with 300 hours. So I realized instructing is probably going to be my future for at least maybe a year. That's not the worst thing though. I mean, I know you probably want to fly bigger stuff eventually, but you definitely recognize the fact that you've been away from kind of this. And I think you're taking a very safe approach. I'd imagine it's going to come back to you sooner than you think. And you might find yourself restless in like 6 months that you're training. But I think you'll enjoy training from the sounds of it. It's kind of like a service for you to give back. Like I said earlier, and you can help encourage the next younger generation. Absolutely. That's the general plan in the my CF double I and my multi engine are the next two up on the plate. So I actually applied for a scholarship for my CFI. I really hope that comes through. I'll try to get that this summer. Can we help? Can we go email them and tell them that you deserve it? There's probably tons of people out there that deserve it. And I'll get a one way or another. That's for sure. Absolutely. I love that out too. But Amy, those are pretty much all the questions I have for you. Next is just a very quick rapid fire section. So I'm going to ask you basic aviation questions and you answer with the first kind of term aviation, whatever that comes to mind, all right? Wow, okay, I didn't know this was coming. Oh yeah. All right. All right, what is your favorite airplane any airplane in the whole entire world? What's your favorite airplane? I'm going to go with the glass star for now. I like it. What's your favorite corporate jet? Oh. Probably one of the cessna shoot. They're all cool. I don't really know about it. You must say, assess the how about that, we'll go with that.

"Serve my time and. Get out. Although I will say being in the coast guard has absolutely changed me as a person. I've gone places, same places, I would have never imagined I've grown as a person, yeah, it was a good thing it happened. I'm glad I joined the coast guard. They certainly helped me pay for college and my flight ratings and things like that. But yeah, the dream of being a coast guard officer and pilot, that's kind of gone now. The thing I'll tell most people when they hear my story and they're like, oh man, what'd you do it again? Well, to me, it was worth that risk. You have to ask yourself when you go to join any military branch to be a pilot. Is it worth the risk is the reward worth the risk if I don't get to fly if I have to stay in the service? To me it was. The reward of being a coast guard pilot was everything. It was worth every risk. So I don't really have any regrets. That's good. I mean, I'm sure that was a very difficult time. And that's something that takes time to process and understand and really come to terms with because lifelong dreams coast guard pilot, fighter pilot, people have these dreams that they want to get, and they're not easy. Like you said, joining the military and getting these. They're very tough in a lot of ways, whether it's training, whether it's stipulations on who can qualify for medical, especially when you go to the FAA and they say you're good, but then you go to the military. It's like, oh, sorry, but it's like, why? That doesn't make sense. It's like, don't just make up your own rules for no reason. It's like, tell me why, why can't I operate this? It's making me mad to hear that. So I can't imagine what was going through. And I am a firm believer, things do happen for a reason. I'm glad that you were able to learn from it and take this adversity and learn to become better from it and apply it to your life. It's going to make you a better person, a better pilot down the road. And it's just going to continue to improve your life. Oh, we 100% agree with everything there. It's in the end, everything that has happened for a reason. I firmly believe that too. So what does your life in the coast guard look like right now? What's a day in the life of Amy white in the coast guard? A day in the life of Amy white in the coast guard. So my current billet is stationed on the cover doing engineering stuff watching over the engineering people and projects, however, I had a awesome little tumble last year when I was skiing in almost broke my leg. And ever since that point, I've not really been able to climb around on the ship and do the stairs and the ladders and so I actually, in a way, fulfilled my dream of being out of their station. So I've been temporary duty GDI to the air station. And it has been incredible. So around there, I will help out in anything I can from flight planning to operations to scheduling. Being an officer in the general in the coast there are especially on ships. It's a lot of paperwork. It's a lot of admin. It's a lot of boring things. It's a lot of responsibility. It's a crazy amount of responsibility, they say when they put those little bars on your shoulders that it's symbolic of the weight that you'll have on your shoulders when you become an officer. And that's 100% true. They also say, when your first year as an officer is your most overpaid, year in the coast guard, and your second year is your most underpaid because it will rack up so quickly that by the time you're in your second year as an officer, you just have incredible amounts of responsibility. Not everyone can handle it that well. I think I did kind of average. It definitely took a lot of time and attention for me. So by flying actually suffered a little bit, that in conjunction with the Washington weather not always working out with my schedule. So I haven't been flying nearly as much in the last couple of years as I used to, but hopefully that's all going to change. I'm wrapping up my time in the coast guard in exactly one week from now. So congratulations or condolences. I'm sure that could be sad and also happy at the same time. It sure is. You had the nail on the head. It's bittersweet. What does life look like for you after the coast guard? What are the future plans? How do you want to incorporate flying into your life? Do you want to go full in airlines? I feel like maybe you're more wanting to fly to make sure you're having fun. You're not necessarily looking forward to a route. This is how I see it from the outside in. Is that correct? Are you airline all the way? You're 100% correct. My initial plan out of the high school was coast guard. Retired from the coast guard, and then go fly corporate I didn't know if I'd be in Maine eating lobster one day or down in California, the next day in taco, I wanted to be adventurous. And obviously, since I'm not going to be retiring from the coast guard, my plans have changed a little bit. Immediately, I'm going to be moving to Denver and going to AFP school to get my mechanics license to something I've always wanted to do. And I feel like while I'm between jobs, it's like the most opportune time to do it. So going to do that, go back to flight instructing. When I'm part time while I'm going to AMP school, after that, I really want to look for an air ambulance job where that way since I couldn't do it in a coast guard, I can still fly and save lives, right? But something like air ambulance PC 12s or maybe boutique or somewhere where I can get hours and experience and turbine time and perhaps a multi out of it. I don't have my multi engine right now. Eventually, I'd love to be even fire pilot. Oh, heck yeah. That sounds pretty darn cool. Anything, anything adventurous? I still would 100% love what you do. The corporate flying, the private jets. I think that would be a lot more fun and be different every day versus going into the airlines. You know, there's different people view careers differently. You know, it's like what do you need to figure out what you want out of your career? Do you just want that seniority number and be able to have the opportunity maybe one day to fly a 7 87? Then yeah, you need to go to the airlines if you want non rev ability you need to go to the airlines. But there are so many ways to have a happy, a healthy make good money. And do what you want to do outside of just being in the airlines. And that was one of my main missions when I started this was just to be able to share that. Because so many people just think you have to be an airline pilot, or when you tell people you're a pilot, they go, who do you fly for? Expecting to hear American Delta United. It's like, well, I do this. And when do you want to go there? That's what I want to do, you know? It's kind of like changing the tune on that. That was one of the goals. But you can do so many fun things in aviation. And I really love your outlook on you want to serve the community as well as serve your love for flying. And I think that's so cool. Absolutely. I certainly got that same remark from people when I tell them commercial pilot and they're like, oh, what's airline? Yeah. Hold on. I got to teach you some things here. Yeah, you're like, Amy whites are line. Completely opposed to being an airline pilot. I'm really not. For the first time in several years, my mind and my journey is open to things that can come up open to new ideas, experiences, and possibilities. That's good. It's always good to be open in this industry. Take the best opportunity that

"I apply for flight school, I got picked up and while I was in OCS, apparently they changed their rules on color vision to be more strict. I was already passing with their backup test. And when they decided they were going to get rid of the valent, I could no longer meet the military's color vision requirements, and I got disqualified for flight school. So yeah, it was my lifelong dream since high school and I thrown out the window. We were support Angeles Washington and we got stationed on a cutter as an officer fresh out of OCS. And continued to fly, but yeah, I didn't realize going into it. The military is way more strict on their color vision than the FAA is. And I'm just barely mildly distribution enough that I got disqualified. Would you mind talking a little bit of kind of just how that affected you? How did you overcome that? How did you kind of, because you're already into the coast guard? You can just be like, all right, peace I'm out. You already have to commit to the coast guard. What was kind of the feelings of hearing that news and unfortunately the lifelong dream of being a coast guard pilot was taken away. Oh yeah, there was a lot of denial, depression, not knowing what to do when it first happened. And trying to figure out how to salvage this, how to get my dream back, then I reported the my news station and it turns out the coast guard is so ridiculously strict on their color vision that I wasn't even they weren't even supposed to let me be an officer yet there I was. So I was like, okay, so at this point, not only would I have to overcome getting my flight medical, but I have to overcome even staying in. So there's no way we'll ever let me fly. So yeah, it was at that point I kind of had a mental shift. I was like, okay, well, I'm not going to fly on the coast guard. I just what it is. So I got to

"Pilot to you pilot. And now back to today's episode. When you were doing your training, did you buy an airplane? My mother and I did. So fun fact, my mother actually sold. She did. So you got sucked into aviation after I got something aviation because when I first started, I didn't quite have my license yet, so I had to book her for rides through the airport. So she started flight lessons as well, and she sold on New Year's Eve. I think 2012 or 2013, I believe. Yeah, it was 2013. So she had to solo in it. We went in on the cessna one 50 that I was training in. Probably did not do that quite right. There was no pre buy. There was no anything. We didn't know anything about airplanes. Just binary to carbon. It was a really good deal. My instructor had some bigger students. And he wanted to get a one 72, and he just wanted to get this launch 50 out of his purview. So at first, we bought half interest in the one 50, which is pretty affordable at the time. Half interest in a $20,000 was 50. And after a year and a half, two years, we were able to buy out the other half. For a pretty good price, pretty good deal. So it worked out for us. I think it certainly helped me get the amount of hours I got in the amount of time I got. Just because you're not dealing with the rental costs, but you do have a whole another set of costs that come with the aircraft ownership too. So it's not necessarily something I'd recommend, but if you really want to get the most enjoyment out of aviation while you're going through the journey, definitely recommend it. Talk a little bit about kind of the struggles of owning an airplane that people might not think about. Is it kind of annuals? Does it make sure you're putting away for maintenance? Is it yeah, I guess pretty much I can't really think of what else might be like common struggles to think about right now. Is that pretty much the only one? Yeah, the big struggles are when unexpected stuff breaks. The annuals, they can vary quite a lot too. I took my airplane to a guy who didn't really do the best annuals for the first two years, so then when I took it to an actual shop, it was almost floored by the annual Bill, because there are so many things that had been let go for so long, so but once you get caught up to a certain point, the annual costs are very predictable. And if you're a very savvy aircraft owner, you already know what needs to be done when it goes into annual. You already know it and these brake pads. You already know this rivet needs to be replaced. You already know that this instrument's not working. You can have an idea and kind of plan out for it the whole year when you are pretty savvy and you just know your airplane really well. Other struggles to hangar or not to hanger, you can save a ton of money by not hanging it, but you know, how much money do you really save when you need a paint job ten years down the road? Probably none. So but it's always super annoying when you have to pay your bills and you realize how much it's costing you. So it's kind of like the fees that you see that don't go towards flying, you know? It's like the hanger fees saving for maintenance and stuff like that, which obviously is smart, but the fees that don't go into just paying an hourly rate and getting up and going and leaving the plane and not worrying about anything else. It's not my paint job. I don't have to worry about it. You can park wherever it wants. As long as it's safe and good, I just pay an hour of the rate and I'm done. Exactly. You've got a great thing about it is you learn to be a very gentle pilot, your gentle on the power, your gentle on the landing gear, and putting the nose down. A gentle on the brakes because you're paying for that stuff. So when you actually go to fly, someone else's airplane, I've gotten all kinds of compliments at how I fly and how gently I fly and stay off the brakes and easy on the power adjustments and easy on the nose slip here, letting it down. And that's all because being an aircraft owner, you just become more conscious of that stuff. Yeah, one of my biggest pet peeves when I was flying smaller pistons was when people were rough on the airplane. It's like, yo, that's not good. You shouldn't go from you shouldn't increase the throttle a 100% as fast as you can. It's like, let's ease it in there. It's like we're in a two O 6. We're going to be okay. We don't need to save the extra 5 feet by doing that. And that would always drive me nuts, so I totally agree. Yeah, no, I will totally cringe up if someone does that and oh man. I know right. Yeah. Can you imagine someone doing that in your airplane? It's like you let a flight school use it or anything. It's like, wow, wow, wow. We're not doing that. Yeah, no kidding. I would get really angry really fast. Cool. You getting angry already? Oh yeah. Yeah. So you continuing through your career, your progression. You did, we kind of talked about all the check rides. You said the same DPE, you are in the coast guard too, correct? I am in the coast guard. When did that come up? When did you say I want to join the coast guard? With the hopes of flying and progressing with aviation or was it kind of a need you felt the call and you wanted to give back and you wanted to serve? It was both of those. So around the time I was graduating high school, I was asking myself, what the heck am I going to do? What am I going to do? What is my life going to be? And at that point, I was already out at the airport, engaged with the community, I had a really awesome hang your neighbor, Jeff lemer, if you're out there watching this, you're awesome. I love you. He had a whole milk rans that he had right next to my airplane. And he was just a wealth of information and a great mentor. He was a retired coast guard chief. And he put the coast guard in my brain. He just said that there and put the idea and I looked into it and I was like, you know what? This really sounds like what I want to do. No, I guess a chance to give back to serve and instead of going out and training to possibly take lives. I'm saving lives. It's a very noble noble service and I decided that I wanted to fly for the coast guard, this is not the best story, but I decided I was going to be a pilot for the coast guard. And I joined the coast guard through the ceasefire program. If anyone's interested in joining the coast guard, please look at this program. It's called the college student pre commissioning initiative. So it's basically a way to both get your degree and become an officer and a coast guard. They will help you do both. Just Google that and it'll come up and you can read all about it. So I did that. My last two years of college were paid for through the coast guard, ceased by program. And then once I was done with college, I went straight to officer candidate school of coming officer, it's kind of a long, long drawn out stories of you have to go to boot camp first, and then you have to go to college, then you have to go to boot camp. Then you go to OCS, and you apply for flight school. Well,

Rep. Pat Fallon: Military Recruitment Declines Due to Vaccine Mandate

Well, instead of being congratulated, many of those young men and women are being booted right out of the coast guard because of these vaccine mandates. You know what? God doesn't make any sense. First and foremost, for your listeners, the military hasn't even met the recruiting goals this year. The army was 20,000 recruits short, the navy only had 89% and the air force was also several thousand shy. And in that kind of a time, just did just to be pragmatic. Why in the world would you throw out bodied well trained in our military because they won't take an unproven experimental vaccine? It is literally boggles the mind. And that's what Joe Biden is doing. It's the worst time. I don't first of all, obviously, Todd Starr's less freedom and liberty, so do I. I would never think that's a good idea. They are bonified anti Semites, and they're in the United States House of Representatives, the enemy it's within and that enemy is in my opinion receded to leave Manila, Nomar. AOC doesn't know he doesn't know. Nobody know And and and and I on a president Do they don't know. But Omar and to leave are dangerous because they they have they have a voice. And Biden is listening to the voice and Biden and then what? That whole team is listening to that voice and all they are filled with his hate. There's no reason with these people and you're going to come and Ilan Omar. She's going to come from Somalia, and she's gonna lecture us how to live it and by the way. So And then, also this this I talked about this once I'll talk about maybe another time before we go off the air and make way for my galler. But Joe Biden was in front of the Coast Guard Academy yesterday, and he outwardly insulted. It's not funny. It's just not funny. It's like when he said, Did you see he was trying out some car? Some electric vehicles? Did you see that? And then and then the reporters say, can we talk to you about is you and he goes? No. If you do, I'm gonna You could stand in front of my car and I'll run you over. These were the words of the apparent president of the United States to a reporter. Okay, if you if you asked me about his real I'm gonna put you in front of art and run your then he goes on. Just kidding. It's not funny. It's like this old, demented, senile. Uncle. How did you say that to a reporter? And And you know what, too? They all laugh and they love it. They're all in the bag. These people. What is the problem with these people? Why? Why? The reporters. I mean, they never questioned this kind of so that Biden's in front of the Coast Guard Academy yesterday and and I want you I want to play exactly what he did say, Joe, You have a You have a little clip of Biden in front of the academy yesterday. Police, please. Thank you. I can only assume That you enjoy educating your family about how the Coast Guard is quote the hard nucleus around the Navy forms in times of war. You are quite You're really adult class. Come on, man is a son game. Dear Lucas. I would think you'd have an opportunity. When I say that about the Navy. The clap it would be here together. Let me tell you what happened there he was stealing from Ronald Reagan. He stole a speech from Monterey and you see, he emphasized When they quote the Reagan quote came up. He emphasized it, Biden. You know, Joe you you'll never be a Ronald Reagan So let me play. Let me play and we'll put this side by side. Well, you'll hear Ronald Reagan and had the speech should have been said and what was said again. Then we'll replay Joe Biden how he stole what Ronald Reagan said. And how it failed miserably. Joe, if you would thank you. My Coast Guard aides have been excellent. One of them taught me that. And I quote the Coast Guard is that hard nucleus about which the Navy forms in time of war only soon That you enjoy educating your family about how the Coast Guard is quote. Hard nucleus around the Navy forms in times of war. You are quite you're really don't class guys. Weird Such trouble. This guy is so gone. Oh, my gosh, I no one called him out on it. Why am I the only guy on the radio talking about this? Why am I the only guy that dead? That's right. And by the way that tweet Joe, Who's that? I I'd like to credit Who? Someone put that together. The did you get the Twitter account? It was sore. Beckett Adams, who cleared that out? Thank you. Yeah, I was like you have crazy because you see, I see. I hear people. The radio. They say something I go. Wait. I just said that this morning. Little credit. We should ola it and the guy plagiarize. He was kicked out of heaven. He ran for president Years ago. A bomb Rocky, he looks like he looks like burning bed was squinting there like that. I Uh, you can't make this up. You cannot make it up. Hey, Jo, on the radio, and then Oh, and then this, too, and we talked about this yesterday and we kind of wouldn't break it on this show. But we I said I always liked When we come on the radio. We take it very seriously. We try to layer What's real? What's not real? Because a lot of it is fake and a lot of its agenda driven out of the White House, and a lot of it are lies and from the mainstream media's well and and I can't even explain to you. I am such a fan in the media, but when they lied to you, they lied here and That's the way it is nowadays. And you and I got to be careful son. Careful, So I heard Lori Lightfoot this this mayor of Chicago, she said. We heard yesterday that she was only going to talk to Brown and black reporters in one on one interviews, and we chuckled about it. He said. No, that can't be true that give you well was verified this morning verified The mayor of the second biggest city in the United States of America will only talk to people of color in an interview. Oh, and one American news. Thank God. You got us that Sandra media talking about it and thank God we're here and they're trying to get rid of us. For God's sake. How could this count? Be that racist and get away with it, please? And when people of color become in positions of power out of these communities is high crime communities. And they are people from the communities that become police chiefs that become mayors. Is your life any better in the inner city Because you went to your fellow community member? Is that work? Not so much. It's not working out. Look at Baltimore. For goodness sake. Why is that? Anyone saving Baltimore Nancy Pelosi's and her family from there? Please. "Radio telling you F L A Pitch 6 52, and we're joined now by James Judge, The CEO, a judge, public relations and James is out to save the The Coast Guard cutter. I think it's pronounced a dak. But to make it part of a museum here in Saint Petersburg. This thing was commissioned in 1989. But on September 11th The cutter, aided an evacuation efforts and transported first responders and established security zone to prevent further attacks. But basically it has a very rich history here as part of 9, 11 and James, I don't understand why the president and the government Wants to send it to Indonesia. Oh, thanks, Jack. Katie in here in the morning for having for having me. I appreciate it. Um, I don't understand a lot of things that our government does. Uh, this one is probably one of the more bone headed moves that I've seen. You're as you mentioned the coast Recovery attack has an extremely rich history. Not only did it help coordinate and oversee the largest rescue in world history when half a million people were evacuated from lower Manhattan on 9 11. A day that, you know, tragic day that our nation will never forget. Hopefully, um, and also captured some of the very first enemy prisoners of war in Iraq when we a Nair force 81 30 gunship on the night of shock and awe. Blasted in Iraqi patrol boat was the crew, the Coast Guard Cutter eight act. It did save the Iraqi crew out of the water and then took them prisoner, turning them over to coalition forces. Um, it also is down here in Florida and Florida Straits and 94 during the Cuban mass exodus. When somebody Cubans were trying to escape communism and come to the United States of America that in that pursuit of freedom, this cutter has an extremely rich history. And I think it's absolutely worth shaving. Um you know, our our mission is to bring it back here I formed of the Coast Guard Cutter eight action. Historical society, and we want to bring it back here making into a 9 11 memorial museum and even the training platform for use. Yeah, we don't have a lot of time here to save it. James and I want to get your initiative here in a second. But do we know how much what the dollar value is on the sale of this thing or what? They're attempting to get for this. I don't know. I'll tell you this. The Coast Guard cutter Bainbridge Island, which was another 110 ft Coast Guard cutter was sold at GSD auction for about $150,000. I don't know what the attack is going for. But you know if it's anything like the Daimler Jar, which is the same exact style cutter for the price of a Tesla, we could potentially, you know, save Ah national treasure. That is a no 9 11 artifacts, historic relics, So I don't think it's about the money. I mean, that's not what they're doing. This is about a political favor. In Indonesia. That's where they want to send the cutter. But here's my point. We have five other 110 ft patrol boats that are all being decommissioned over in the king of Bahrain, where this cutter is currently based, out of any one of those congealed in its place. Or there are several other 110 ft cutters here in the United States that could go over to The kingdom of Bahrain. Looks like the Department of State just doesn't want to deal with bringing it back to United States. However, you know, we've got some congressmen that have jumped onboard three congressmen. So far. We expect more this week. That air trying tol puss in our efforts to save the cutter, so Big Thank you to Congressman Gospel. Arrakis, who, you know, initiated that effort. Then Charlie Crist, who also jumped on and sign that letter on has been supporting Bill Arrakis and our efforts on that. And then Congressman Lee's album Zoning out of New York is also helping One quick thing. Where would it be A ZPA wrote of a museum effort here in ST Petersburg. Where would we have a just down by the waterfront or near the pier? Well, there were actually three potential locations we had discussed with clear water. It was a possibility of ST Pierre's. We're looking at the area by the pier down by actually, it's in the port area. I think it's currently there's a building leased by USF, but we were looking over back there by Coast Guard sector ST Petersburg, which is actually a historic to air base. Um, we may have put it there and maybe one USS leases up Look, at least in that building and building was actually designed as a museum. We might turn into a larger, you know, life stating Coast Guard and Armed Forces Museum. On then, you know, potentially if that didn't work out, Although ST Pete has expressed some interest, and we've been talking with some city officials, they're, um they're looking at it. They can make that happen or not, and I think we can. The other possibility would even be camp with waterfront area of Tampa. We already have the you know us on this American victory there, and we would love the partner with them. We've even discussed partnering with them and potentially, you know, having some sort of joint effort there on the waterfront in Tampa. Well, this is great your effort to keep it here, and I'm certainly hope it works out successfully because this would be a great thing to have in the Tampa Bay area. James Judge CEO, A judge public relations Thanks for joining us on a M Tampa Bay and we'll stay in touch..
