We want to make sure every kid comes to school and has an opportunity to eat a meal. The move comes at a time when grocery prices fight 10% from last year, leading cash strapped parents struggling to feed their families. How important is universal meals to you in terms of your priority list for all students? It's really important. You know, what we want to do is essentially tell families forever in Washington state. When you come to school, part of going to school is that you have calories. The federal program that had temporarily expanded free school meals for all public K through 12 students nationwide expired in the summer of 2022. The superintendent had proposed state lawmakers make it permanent, but he says due to budget constraints, there's now a scaled back version of the original legislation making its way through Olympia. We won't scale it up to a 100% of students, right? We're going to go beyond the 70, 80% who have access today further, but I don't think under the house consideration or the Senate at this point, they're going to they're going to make this happen in the next two years. They're going to phase it longer. During the 2021, 2022 school year, 46.7% of Washington state students qualified for free and reduced meals, an increase of nearly

"Will because drifting back in the pocket ten yards deep. That's not fair to those guys. Either if you hang onto the ball. So i told you the collective effort now. Everything goes hand in hand. But i want to step up i do. I do 'cause i think he can do it. All right so What he said from the audio was well shy. Say it shy. Say it you fucking. I'm gonna say it He wanted to be careful of what he said. When a question with brought up by saying now fair to judge him too harshly in the short they were short moment of silence. As i mentioned five seconds where he was like well should i. This is this is a good idea. I really want to but should i. Should i fuck him. i'm gonna do it anyway. So he went out and he just blasted. The man says he needs golfed. Step up more and more than he has and needs to help us just like everybody else. I i love the way he said. Yeah he he he needs. We need him to step up and do more and do these things just like. Oh just like everybody else. Coach campbell didn't put a name on everybody else. Who's everybody else coach. I mean 'cause it's like everybody needs to improve the said that everybody on offense everybody on defense everybody. Special teams everybody in the coaches staff. We all need to step up the team game. Everybody needs to step up. But no it was like jared goff needs to step up. Oh along with everybody else. Everybody else needs to step up but in particular but in you know the the main guy who did to be stepping up as a quarterback so wow man he went ahead and he just put it out on the street for a mini continue with his critics of golfed tolerance criticism by saying it was time for the put on put some weight on his shoulders and make some throws and do some things and all coach. Have you been watching. Los angeles wrentham football for the previous two seasons. Because if your head you wouldn't be saying things. When it comes to jared goff jared goff if you're going to be asking jared goff the put more weight on his shoulders and try to make more plays to try to do more things man. You're going to end up wanting sixteen to in fifteen. Did you see jerry gov even when the ramp were making the to the super bowl winning conference championships. Jared goff that the guy that you want to put more weight on his shoulders and more responsibilities. Got jared goff. If you had aaron rogers if you had tom brady if you had that preska russell wilson if you had thailand murray one lamar jackson justin. Herbert in you had one of the quarterback. Sure i can understand you say something like that but you don't say that you say that to a matthew stafford you don't say that to a jared gulf. You don't expect to win football games. Unless that defense all of a sudden becomes. I don't know really the great defenses of all time. And guess what the detroit lions personnel on defense doesn't resemble anything that could be the greatest defense all time so gates putting more expertise how that detroit lion fans dan. Campbell is asking his quarterback to Do more he needs to step up and do more now. Sure i can understand him saying he needs to step up and do more without asking him to do too much. But then when you're asking jared goff to put more weight on his shoulders and perform better at the dealer. What does that entail..

"Lions would score on a screen pass from DeAndre Swift 43 yards after catch 38 17 and 19 Field goal made it 41 17 and the Lions took over with five ish to go. 12 play drive capped off by Jamal Williams in the end zone. Hawkinson two point conversion. Here's where it gets crazy, onside kick. You get it back. And then this touchdown pass from golf lions first and goal from the two golfs Got it throws left side wants it got him touchdown pass into the end zone golf with a nice glow. As you say, we're gonna see if I can get up and fight for it. You got it. That was his third touchdown pass of the day to point to see if it's good 41 33. That's the play of the game. Brought to you by DTE Bringing you clean, safe, affordable natural gas lions would force A fumble to get the ball back at the very end before fourth down, play went astray, and there's your final and T J. You've talked about it, but just tying a bow on it. I mean, they put themselves in too big of a whole and until the very end didn't really show off the downfield passing game. Yeah, absolutely. And that was really the tail of the game was the big plays, I think through, you know, maybe 10 minutes left in the third quarter. San Francisco had I think eight or nine plays of over 20 yards, and I don't know if the Lions had one and the longest pass up until you know the last couple drives there to a receiver was, I think seven yards, so that was obviously the major difference now positive was The church run game looked really good today, and I know that game kind of started getting out of hand. It forced them one dimensional to throw the ball. But earlier in that game that for those first couple drives with Jamal Williams, I mean he was getting 67 yards before he was even getting touched. But obviously when the game goes that way, You can't come back by running the ball for 30 or 40 times, but, um yeah, I think that's something that I'll definitely ask coach about is just the concern level of not getting the ball downfield, not forcing the ball downfield was that more of a game plan type situation or was it something where you know, San Francisco has just taken away from you, But I definitely think that that's something you're not going to win many games in the NFL by not being able to stretch the field deep. T. J I would love to see your question Sheeting. All the scribbling. You've got Dan Campbell. We'll hear from them later in the postgame so much more to break down from the Lions opening game. All right. Thank you, Coach right now. T J Let's grab think we do. Coach Campbell. Yes, We do this, Uh, Coach Coach interview obviously brought to you each week By Sterling Commercial. Credit. Your one stop shop for business loans and working capital. Coach Campbell, Can you hear me this week down there? I've got you. Yeah, And I know obviously disappointing loss. I think I just tried to explain it that I would imagine you on the sideline, the coaching staff the players. I think you probably went through about every different emotion you probably could in a football game. Obviously not able to Complete the comeback there in the fourth quarter, but I really thought that you know this game was just kind of a tale of big place. San Francisco is able to generate a lot on offensively and really, until the last couple drives Jared Dolphin Lines offense was just not able to really crack the big play. Yeah. Look, I think you nailed it. You did. We just We lacked explosive plays, man In the past game. We had some explosive runs. But then we had to get out of that a little bit. And I mean, look when you pass the ball 57 times, um, that's not the way we're built. It just it isn't And, uh but you do what you gotta do, and you take each game as it comes, but I think you hit it on the head. Too many big plays for them. Not enough for us. We talked about stopping the run. We didn't do that, Um And look early in the game, and we fourth and two we don't get and then our defense first possession. The game gets to turn over. We don't capitalize. So we was look self inflicted wounds credit to them. Look, they're damn good team, and they showed it And that's you actually just mentioned the Lack of big players, especially in the passing game. How much of that is a concern? Moving forward Was that more of just, uh would you say game plan, you know, just wanted to hit underneath a lot or just taking it away. I would say that we, uh you know, we We had. We had our shots on the game plan to take and, uh You know, And I'm not going to make excuses for why it didn't work out. It just we didn't get them. And, uh, you know, we called some of them and, uh, We didn't get the throws off. We didn't make the plays. And it's look that's ultimately it's on us. We've got to find a better way to put our players in position to be able to make those plays or set him up differently, So I'm not I'm not looking to blame right now. If anything, I'm putting that on me. I got to do a better job of helping us. Yeah, understood. And I know a couple positives in the game. I know where your run game, especially there in the first quarter. I mean, Jamal Williams, the spark that he kind of brought to the offense. I know you guys had to get away from it a little bit and also The run defense. I know the first half. It was kind of a tail two halves there. They had 13 carries 93 yards, two touchdowns first half second half you guys were able to limit them to 38 yards on 15 carries What were some adjustments, made a defensively at halftime to try to slow down that San Francisco run game. Look, we just got a little more aggressive in the way that we were trying to set these edges. You know, we're trying to bring both of our guys off the edge and clamp it a little bit. And, uh, look, I just think that I hate to say it, but I think it got honest a little bit and until you get in the true live game, um, season one new defense. This is what it feels like. Especially with a team like San Fran. I mean, look, they do as good a job as anybody cutting your defense, like cutting it off. You know what I mean? Right? Like widening in the front side and slicing the backside. And so, man, those guys, particularly your guys on the backside of that run, believe it or not. They've got to be able to like they gotta. They gotta build the wall and shut off those windows. And, uh, you know, we did a better job in the second half, but there again, It's just too little too late. Um, last one for me, Coach just I know a lot of talk this week around. Uh, obviously, Taylor Decker Going on the injured reserve. From my vantage point. I wanted to get your reaction..

"Michigan fans will have a have a word with you after the show. While the two of them can call me But there's a lot more Michigan fans in the city of Chicago, and there are Minnesota fans. All right. Back on your point. I'm going to disagree. 100%. I don't think Minnesota's relevant but back to your point, sir, I'm sorry to interrupt with your point is, is that the ceiling like we hype up these These young hot coaches, and then they go to another place and like, how often does it How often does it work out? Are they just good at recruiting dudes and getting dudes up for a game? Or are they actually and coming up with a scheme to beat the other the smaller teams on their schedule, But when it comes to facing the bigger teams on the schedule, they can't do anything like Matt Campbell's a great coach, but He hasn't been Oklahoma. He hasn't been in Iowa. Like what do you like? What are you doing? Go, Tigers! Wait. What's that? I just love the broke on our breaking news that Minnesota is relevant. Relevant. That's great, Irrelevant. Let's hear from Kurt Farron says. We're talking Iowa State in Iowa. The big game on ABC at 3 30. Later on today. Two top 10 teams facing off Kirk Parents scouts. What I was state has to offer. Here he is when it comes to Iowa State. They're not only talented team but very experienced. Yeah, And you know, on top of that, really well coached, certainly since coach Campbell and his staff have gotten into to aims, you know, I've just done a wonderful job building a great program and I think we've all witnessed that last year over the years, certainly last year and they're off to a good start right now. So so I said they've got really experienced players. You know, they got all right players at the critical positions. A lot of guys with Very deserved honor. So big, big challenge for us Offensively, you can start wherever you want to start. They've got a running back that had close to 1600 yards last year. He's an outstanding football player. A couple of words talented and, uh, outstanding tight ends veteran offensive line good group receivers, and then quarterbacks done a great job for quite a quite a while. And he certainly is. You know their leader on that offensive team and they've got a great scheme, so it's a tough preparation for us that way Defensively again. It's a very unique preparation. May have played good defense. Basically, once they got got settled and got established. They've been playing good defense for quite a while in a conference that maybe that's not as common and so to me. I think that's really helped separate them There. Guys play extremely hard, so unique preparations I mentioned And they've got a lot of veterans there and outside linebackers, a tremendous player that safety is not outstanding player with a lot of other guys that do a great job as well. So again, just to challenge there and then Special teams, you know, really well coached, played hard, very, very productive. So really, It's just, you know, it's a great big challenge for us right now. All right, That's Kurt. Parents, Iowa head coach so fast, Abdullah, did you pick up on that from Kurt Parents? Uh, most of that. He just said the linebackers. Good. The safety is good. They do a lot of nice things like was that not the most generic scouting report you've ever heard from a coach? Not so fast. Yeah, He's not going to give you anything. Wasn't give you anything. Does he even know names? Does he have daily numbers? You just give it line back. They got a good linebacker, Elite ball, coach. That is just he Just giving you some garbage. He just he just talking words, man. They're good. Defensively, A good special teams there. They got that linebacker kid. They got the gun safety. Uh, yeah, They got two of them. They got to safety is a player. The only thing that was missing was not pointing guys out by number. Yeah, right now, guys, by number that that's that's a ball coach right there. Steve. Parents didn't even know the number. He's doesn't even these guys positions I would say has some positions. I mean, what? I'm not listening to this during the week. I'm like Hold on compares, are you? Do you even know anything about like he is right. Iowa State is the only team that basically plays any defense whatsoever in the big 12. But outside of that, that was a generic minute 40 that we just heard from the Iowa head coach. Just save that and run it again during Penn State week and run it again during Wisconsin week And just like it won't change. Just be like Yeah, they got some good linebackers. They got some good defensive end to safety. That's really good. You know, We're just hoping it will just got to go out there and do our job and, uh, defense to take advantage of players on the defensive side. These guys are. There's some guys that were helmets. Others, some some helmeted players out there a linebacker and the second line of defense and they got third line. There is safety. They got some guys on the defensive line hand in the dirt. They got that working for, you know. I heard this the other night. I was gonna do it on. I'm just gonna play this on Thursday. I was like, no, no, no, no, no. I need you to respond to this. I could not waste this on a solo effort for a black and Abdullah showing on Thursday night, So I did keep this to C C..

"Teak interior. The NFL preview I told you before. That I think the Denver Broncos going to be a wild card team, So that's a little bit out there for a lot of people. I get it tomorrow We'll do our ninth annual division winners, wild cards. All the awards will hook you up. But as a little precursor to that, let's give everybody a little taste a little taste where you know we we come up with that don't mean something that's just so wacky. It's unrealistic, but a couple of things that would probably not be roundly agreed upon by most but something that you and I can put it off spirit behind and support that is unconventional today. That we think might come to fruition tomorrow. Yeah, So I mean, there's lots of things and teams to look at. When we had Marshall Faulk on earlier. We were talking about all the different storylines and And football this year, and it's you know the Jared Golfs going out, you know, leaving LA and going to Detroit and him being replaced by Matt Stafford with the Rams and Sean McVeigh's offense and how explosive that can be. And you know, we've talked a couple of times over this. Last week, BT about these these new offensive minds whether it's the low floors, both Matt and Mike Matt, obviously in Green Bay and and and and Mike and with the Jets and how they're going to impact these teams. Um, but it all comes from me from the Shanahan tree, which goes back to his dad, Mike Shanahan. Mikhail is now obviously the head coach, and he's got one of the more interesting quarterback situations and football bt because Jimmy Garoppolo is penciled in as the starting quarterback, even though they haven't really announced that yet. We assume that Jimmy Garoppolo is going to be the starting quarterback, but they haven't released it. Um and trade Lance, who was their first round pick kind of a surprise first round pick. Even though on this show, we kind of felt that that was going to be fair, you more than me. I mean, you nailed that two months before anybody else I gotta give you credit on. So we knew that I joined along late because it just makes sense. You gotta Jimmy Garoppolo. You can develop the kid behind him if he takes a year. Great. There's two years. Great. You still got Jimmy Garoppolo is on $100 million contract and you're paying the kid a lot less than that, So it just makes sense. But I think one of the surprises that we're going to see Is that trade lands before their bye week, which I think is week eight. I think they're week. Eight. Is there by way, so kind of right in the middle. I think Trey Lance gonna have 10 10 Touchdown. Wow, My goodness. Touch them. I mean, that's worthy of a fantasy. Pick up. That's right Now, you might think that I'm saying, oh, that means he's going to be the starter. No, I'm not saying that. What cow? Shanahan is looking to do. B d And you saw it in the preseason in their last preseason game is basically make Trey Lance as he tries to learn the offense and get acclimated. The playing To the speed and the physicality of an NFL game. Be like Taysom Hill, and I would say on steroids, but that's the wrong analogy because states have also Jack Yeah, right to do it all Jack of all trades kind of guy. But Taysom Hill with the actual ability to become a drop back, starting quarterback, right, And so I think we're going to see him a lot and play a lot more so than you would think a backup quarterback would would would do. Wow. And and understanding by the by. We had You say because he's going to be He's going to be the wildcat guy, not wildcat. But you know what I mean The zone Reverse the R P o quarterback in the red zone so he could get a lot of red zone touches. He could be just that he could throw. I'm not talking just running. You could throw a couple of red zone touchdowns. I see Trey Lance being impactful for this 40 Niners team. I'm actually very high on because I think they're going to be good again. Okay? Alright. Is anybody else raising eyebrows here? I mean, I mean, I know there was a lot of words there but just to, you know, boil it down to the essence of his point. He said that there's a chance to Trey Lance has 10 touchdowns by the bye week, which you extrapolate deeper means you might have 20 touchdowns on the season. You know, I mean, that would stun me. I know he's going to play a little bit. But the thing, man when when you think about what Sean Peten Did with Taysom Hill. Because you have to put this in context. The NFL is a copycat lead again. This is just a bold prediction. I don't know if it's going to happen. Sean Payton kind of reinvented what a utility quarterback is in the NFL like it just he just did that went away for a while. It went away for a long time like it was we got this wildcat. Brad Smith put a running back or Brad Smith type. Uh huh. Don't really have a chance to be an actual quarterback like if you if you if Brad Smith is in the game, you're not fearing there. He's leading a two minute drive and he's going to, you know, dominate us at some point in the game. Trade. Lance evolves into who they think he can become. He could be an elite quarterback. Forget like the the The gimmick. Yeah, absolutely. Why? You draft them? Three. That's right, And you saw it in his first game. He threw that bomb for a touchdown in the preseason. It was it was, you know, 50 yards in the air was on the money The kid got has got talent. I know he does, And he's also a great athlete. And so I think there's just multiple opportunities for Kyle Shanahan to copycat what Sean Payton did only do it with a better quarterback. And and and and trade lands at a better athlete price price faster than probably better. Athlete tastings pretty faster rights right faster. I mean, I I worry a little bit because of the hits he might end up taking. But he's a young kid. That's a good one. T I I didn't know you were going there. Um, I've got I've got 21. I'll take about 10. Seconds on the other one. I'll expand on Lot of people are and have been mocking the Bears and their GM and their head coach, Dynamic and anti Dawn QB one. I think the band's gonna actually pretty good this year where I think the Bears could could finished second in that division could I'm not sold on the Vikings. Forget about Detroit. They're miles away from being even, I think remotely competitive, so Coach Campbell's got his work cut out for him. But I think the Bears could be much more of a factor than people are are, you know, letting on right now?.

"Man. Oh, man. Oh, yeah. I mean, I mean, cables when we got, you know, he goes from the East side of the ball. You know, Coach Patricia is a defensive minded guy, you know, and You know credit to him. He's got a good He's got a good defensive mind and whatever, but, uh, you know, Coach Campbell. He's one of those guys that he comes up to me comes up to all the guys all the players and And, you know, tell them what what to do, How they're doing it very straightforward with you, which I think you know. Everybody appreciates. But it is a guy that's spending half his time on the offensive field and then half of the time on the defensive field. And even though he's majority, you know he played as an offensive player, Um, you know, but with with Matty P was one of the things that we never really saw them on the offensive side. He wasn't really involved in that aspect. Um, but, you know, with with with Coach Campbell, he does a really good job of, you know, understanding his players understanding each side of the ball. And, you know, kind of just mingling with everybody, which is which is kind of rare to have it, You know, especially in the last few years, So tell us a little bit about Jared Goff as a quarterback. He hasn't you know, did the you know the ended interview when he came into town, and he's been fine answering, you know basic questions and things like that. But But he hasn't been like outgoing and everywhere. It's not like everybody in the in the Detroit area has a real good feel for what kind of guy he is. Tell us. You've you've been a lot closer with them than than than any of us. What kind of guy is he? I mean, you know, Jerry is one of those guys that, uh, you know, he'll come up to you in the locker room will come talk to you. Um, He's very personable. In that sense, uh, he's got a good sense of humor. He's always cracking some jokes with us. Um, you know, but he's a guy that you know, really, you can tell cares about the game, you know, really cares about football and is not afraid to tell you how he wants it, You know, And I think that's Something that you know were started just getting used to was, you know, being able to watch film with our quarterback and be like him telling us what to do and him telling us how he sees it. Um, you know, and just kind of being personable in that sense, you know, and, um, just very close with his guys. You know, he's about his close to my age and So just having that aspect of off the field friendship has been really nice, you know, and just kind of building that chemistry new, you know, move it onto the field, which is Something that you know that really build the team and really build the chemistry and throughout that aspect, so I think we're all you know, excited to have JD in that locker room, and he's been nothing but really good for us. So is that how he goes by field? Does he go by J. G. Which is damn hard to say nothing. Try that. I mean, I always called J d. I don't know if that's life, but I mean I'm gng to you, buddy. I forgot that you're only 20. You're only 20. What? Five or just 24 just turned 24 a month ago. 24. Yeah. So Matthew Stafford was like your dad in NFL if in an NFL numbers because he was like 32 8 years is an eternity in football, isn't it? Yeah. I mean, he was a lot to learn me. He grew up in a different time, You know, and there, you know, it's just different times and like I said, you know, it wasn't He was married with kids. I was a single guy. So Little little different aspect. But you know, J. He's got a girlfriend. I just got settled in so What does that mean? What does that mean? I just got settled in. You got a dog? Oh, man. Yeah, this offseason didn't be right. I guess so. You got married for you? I did you get married. Is that what we're understanding? Hello? Yeah. Did you did you get married? I don't know what's going on with this line. Apparently, the tough questions. Certain questions? Yeah. Practicing for marriage. You know, we we We got that We got that someone else has a girlfriend and you got settled in and we're still trying to figure out what that means. What is settled in mean? Mhm. "Yes last night. I thank think the coach campbell now are stretching credulity and Getting a little closer to deception here. nathan work was listed as the starter. Nathan rourke did all sorts of interviews. All week was pushed forward as the starting quarterback and then it was michael riley. I don't doubt that riley's elbow is at a place where he is touch and go right up to kick-off here's what i will say. Whoever doubted the sincerity the leo's and the information they put out to the public in week one was that was given fuel last night with the dept gazoo weeks and row now. They've listed a quarterback atop the depth chart who did not start football game. That's to change for next week. Whoever's at the top of next week step chart has to be the starting quarterback. I think it's now incumbent on the bc lines show some degree of honesty with their documentation of the public. As we've talked about single game betting now coming to canada this takes on greater importance so it is now up to the leo's not ceo we abided by an cfl rules blah blah blah You know just riley at you know right last minute was able to go. Were wasn't able to go now. It's time to get serious. Be more honest. And whomever's at the top of your depth chart is you're starting quarterback that simple. The party line is that like riley's the starting quarterback. Everybody knows that it's a question of is he healthy enough and he didn't practice all week and for him to come out and do what he did. It's pretty impressive stuff. But they're jillian mentioned to care about. I mentioned to us. He saw signs from riley had practice. That suggested that mike was more ready to play. Michael was more ready to play this. So if colorado's watching it understands there's a fair chance that the starting quarterback is good enough to play even if he didn't practice you then that tells me something with regards to Some of the games that the leo's were willing to play here to try and mess up their report on the tsn people. Stop whining about preparing for quarterbacks. The notch broadcast partner needs to prepare. I know everybody involved with the tsa. They are smart enough to prepare for both quarterbacks. Right get sick. The whining from the tsn broadcast crew about all this. I don't know i can't understand wide. Lions wouldn't just leave riley at the number one position on that chart exactly can't go soviet but he is starting quarterback and now this idea of them switching from week to week i'm with you i is this is not a good look on them. Making your starter..

Um, as you said, you kind of wanna bet and using a very similar way, like Christmas carefree when tomorrow's and people like that. You know exactly. That's what I said. I said guys who can catch the ball of the backfield, but also can line up his wide receivers and, um, and it also run between the tackles or outside the tackle. Whatever it may be, it gives you so much more of an advantage. As a as a as offensive coordinator is you look back on your rookie season and you know the successes that you had, but it's a team it was. It was a struggle as we all know. What do you take away from that? How do you prepare for a new staff? A new situation up in Detroit going into next year. Yeah, You got miss from that? Even now, whenever we get ot, Azour mistrials going didn't have it in his last year, right into it with the Corona and everything. But this excited for the new staff and other changes doesn't know. Um You got to get back to work with team? Yeah, and want to talk about that new staff, But I mean, listen, DeAndre, I've gotta defend myself a little bit here. My partner is guilty of a little Ah, little false advertising right there. I'd like to think I know that the running back is important. It was it was. It was a deeper dive into the position, but by old me, especially when you do what you do, catching and running, Of course, the values of parents so Let me ask you this. I mean, a lot of times we've had. I mean, jeez, we've been doing is eight years We've probably had this Super Bowl alone. Take what 200 maybe of maybe more over the years. And you know, some players are really in tune with what's you know what's going on in the franchise in terms of the press conferences, the optics Are you the kind of player DeAndre when Campbell when Coach Campbell was introduced to you sitting there are you watching that in real time or you say I'll get around to it. What did you think? The press conference? What do you think it Campbell's initial splash in Detroit. I just know he's real passionate about his work on real brings bring a lot of energy. I'm I didn't see the actual, um Interview. People would take me up about it. My God, like You're on the blog's and anything on the media. If not me, Yeah, No, I hear you, by the way. He was my teammate when I was with the Giants, and so he's you've got a hell of a head coach, man. He's got a ton of energy and he's aggressive and he's He's old school in a sense it if you know what I mean. You know, as this season comes around, How do you How can you improve? What what you did last year? Because obviously, you know, success is one thing, but becoming one of the best is obviously every player's goal. How can you get better at what you do? If we can improve, um, take my game to the next level. Um Like blocking. Sure I get beat it all down back. I'd be down back that I'm I know I could be No come with preparation and reps as well. Um, I think I showed the coaches a little, but what I could do. When I'm out there, Um, so it's being in the cultures trust I would say Yeah, I think that's obviously the most important thing. Obviously, the big trade happened a couple days ago, and I know Beatty was getting ready. Ask you about this. Matt Stafford, who was your quarterback for your rookie season? We know how good he is. I don't know if you know Jared golfer know anything about him. But would you think about Matt Stafford being moved off your team. Definitely definitely was. Said. This might was my really be perfect timing for you guys, because while we all have great respect for Stafford, and he's got a rocket, and he's a gamer, and he's you know, he's a really good player. He seems to fit the Rams timeline. Maybe better than he did. The Detroit line's timeline. You guys are just starting over you. Rebuilding Goff is, I guess, 67 years younger. You know, because there's no fans. I don't know if you can feel this. I don't know what kind of interim not sure what suburb you live in. Quite frankly, out there in Detroit. Maybe Troy. Maybe Birmingham one of those, maybe But do you have a sense just how great the line fans are and how desperate they are to get a product that wins consistently. Can you even feel that with no fans in the building? Is brought with no fame. No.

You had a really nice tweet the other day. I thought that read quote. Just want to send out a quick note thanking Matt Stafford and his family for all they've done for the team, the fans and the city and a quote Various somebody who represented the lines in that city of Detroit for as long as you have, what do you make of the job that he did as the face of that franchise? Well, hey, look, man. I mean, the guy carried the team for a lot of years. Um, you know, and they have so much good football left in me. I hate to see him go. We know that you know every every day he comes to Every day he comes to work, you know, and and when you step on the field with him And the guys the difference maker. You know he is so so we hate to see him go. He, uh, you know, I guess it got to a point where both sides You know, we're kind of ready to go their separate ways and what have you and the the that's kind of how the new regime saw it. But The guy's just a flat out player, man. Um, you know, he has elite talent, and we saw that every day And so you look at you know, with the Rams have done over the last few years. I mean, they could. They could be scary out there with him, Um, lead the team. Family. Barry Sanders. Joining us appreciate those thoughts. I agree with you. Yeah, barely mentioned the new regime. You were actually invited to serve as part of the advisory committee for the coaching search. What did it mean for you to get that invite? And what do you make of Dan Campbell as the new head coach? No, it meant a lot for me to be involved in it. You know, I don't necessarily encourage people having their kneecaps bit off or anything like that. But I love him. I love you know, Coach Campbell's Initial press conference, You know, just kind of putting the division on notice and other teams on notice that That you know That's his attitude and his mindset, and that's going to be the attitude mindset of the team going forward. You know that. You know, people better look out, you know, because you know he's been around. He's been around some Winners and they seem you know how you build brick by brick. That whole process on, so I'm looking forward to it here. You know how it is Brick by brick kneecap I kneecap. You know how it is around the block. You know, Very Sanders joining us. Let me take a step back. I was recently talking to Derrick Henry and he became the newest member of Berry of the 2000 Club this year as a member of that club yourself. How did it feel to welcome him in? And what do you think when you watch him run the way he does. Oh, man, It is great to welcome Derek. And, um, you know, Jim, honestly, the last couple years You know, he's been the most dominant player outside of Patrick Mahomes. And maybe Aaron Rodgers. He's been in Northumberland opposite player. Maybe he put it on display again this year by going over 2000 yards. Um, you know, and you look out. He's carried this team into the playoffs last Couple years. I feel like they should have given the ball 40 times this year against the Ravens at another another story, But but, yeah, he very well could be a guy. Um, the first guy that Chris 2000 years twice in a career. Or I'll say more than once because he's definitely in his prime, you know, and so hopefully don't give him the ball but hopefully giving the ball on. Hopefully they're paying him whatever he deserves, because, like I said, I believe he has been You know the three dominant players office. The players in the league and the guy's future's bright and I wouldn't be shocked to see The Titans, you know, playing the big game at some point if he stays healthy, we're talking Barry Sanders. He buries a quick photo that I think you make a great point. The fact that he's been a dominant dominant offensive player along the lines of Aaron Rodgers Patch Mahomes. But he's not getting that kind of respect, right? At least his name is not mentioned with those three as a running back. Does that bother you? And should he get more respect? What? I think he certainly deserves more respect. Um, I don't I don't think I think he certainly should be right up there with Aaron Rodgers and who wins Leading VP. Um, you know, and then he should, you know, and I'll just throw this third one, and he should certainly received quarterback money. I don't know what he's being paid, but, um, but yeah, but he just been. He's been that kind of player the last few years and You know, And so he should be compensated for, But yeah, The point is the guy the guy is right up there with the best in the league and you know he's going to be great for many years to come. We're talking very Sanders. Very now. I talked to Sean Alexander the other day as well. I mean, you made putting up huge seasons is a backward pretty easy, but it takes a toll. It takes a toll on you. Physically, it takes a toll on you. Mentally. Sean was talking about how when he what he had to do to get his body to recover from a 300 carry season and then get ready for the next season. How were you able to do that? I mean, you average more than 300 carries per season over the course of your entire career. How were you able to bounce back year after year after year and maintain your body? Your mind for that kind of grind? You know, it is tough. It's tough, but you know for me, there was no greater Um, privilege I would say, than lining up Um In the NFL as a running back, you know, as a top running back in the NFL, you know? So so I knew that I had to take great care of my body. I knew that. And as I got older, I learned better how to do that, You know, just working out wise and And diet wise and everything else in a lot of things have to go right for you, you know, And so I think there's luck involved as well, You know, but but But, yeah..

Everything else. Barry, how are you doing right now? How is your life? Jim. Great to be with you men all. It's pretty good man. Considering the circumstances, you know, can't complain. Great. Great to be back with you today. It's good to have you back, Barry always going to talk to you. You and I have done this so many times, and it's great to have you back. Listen, we start right here. I mean, the guy carrying the team for a lot of years. Um, you know, and they have so much good football left in me. I hate to see him go. We know that you know every every day he comes to Every day he comes to work, you know, and when you step on the field with him And the guys the difference maker. You know he is so so we hate to see him go. He, uh, you know, I guess it got to a point where both sides You know, we're kind of ready to go their separate ways and what have you and the the that's kind of how the new regime saw it. But But the guy's just a flat out player, man. Um, you know, he has elite talent, and we saw that every day And so you look at you know, with the Rams have done over the last few years. I mean, they could. They could be scary out there with him, Um, lead the team. Off Emery. You know people better look out, you know, because you know when he's been around, he's been around some Some winners and they seem you know how you build brick by brick. That whole process And so I'm looking forward to it. You know how it is. Brick by brick kneecap I kneecap. You know how it is around the block. You know, Very Sanders joining us this Let me take a step back. I was recently talking to Derrick Henry and he became the newest member of Berry of the 2000 Club this year as a member of that club yourself. How did it feel to welcome him in? And what do you think when you watch him run the way he does. Oh, man, It is great to welcome Derek in. Um, you know, Jim, honestly, the last couple years You know, he's been the most dominant player outside of Patrick the homes and maybe Aaron Rodgers. He's been a north dominant opposite player. Maybe he put it on display again this year by going over 2000 yards. Um, you know, and you look out. He's carried this team into the playoffs last Couple years. I feel like they should have given to the ball 40 times this year against the Ravens as another another story, But but, yeah, he very well could be a guy. Um The first guy that Chris 2000 years twice in a career or I'll say more than once because he's definitely in his prime, you know, and so hopefully don't give him the ball but hopefully giving the ball on. Hopefully that they're paying them whatever he deserves, because, like I said, I believe he has been You know the three dominant players office. The players in the league and the guy's future's bright and I wouldn't be shocked to see The Titans, you know, playing in the big game at some point if he stays healthy, we're talking Barry Sanders. Um, you know, and hey, should you know, and I'll just throw this third one, and he should certainly received quarterback money. I don't know what he's being paid, but, um, but yeah, but he just been. He's been that kind of player the last few years and, um You know, And so he should be compensated for, But yeah, The point is the guy the guy is right up there with the best in the league and you know he's going to be great for many years to come. Talking Barry Sanders. Very now I talked to Sean Alexander the other day as well. I mean, you made putting up huge seasons is a back look pretty easy, but it takes a toll. And as I got older, I learned better how to do that, You know, just working out wise and And diet wise and everything else in a lot of things have to go right for you, you know? And so I think there's luck involved as well, You know, but but But, yeah..

"Opinion the main winner. So i think what separates them as the winner is jared goff and we're gonna sit there and say jerry off no he stains. That's why he was traded. Jared goff was a product. Probably of sean mcvay in that offensive system that he had for the rams. I understand that but for the lions the lions are looking like build comic a few years of rebuild and then we start making playoff runs. You at least have a quarterback right now that god forbid. You made the playoffs next year. Because i don't seen as team making the playoffs next year. I just don't i think if they would have gotten like first round second round pick of this year's draft may because now you're getting more pieces you signs and people who knows. Now you're probably in the right direction for this year to make the playoffs. I just don't see that this year. I think team missed the playoffs this year again. But you at least have a quarterback. Like look jared goff. Actually one playoff games for the ran multiple playoff games at the rams london to super bowl like he. He was there so he actually has experienced at stafford. Doesn't have right. Mass effort has been to the playoffs only to lose in the first round. What two or three times. He's the lions before. I'm just saying right now. The line stink never talked about on my last episode when that guy from pride of detroit. Sba nation said that the colts were a bunch of losers. I've already talked about that. But blinds stink on ice. Okay hopefully mac. I do believe in coach campbell again. I do this. Trae benefits the lines more than benefits. The rams now don't waste your picks don't become another waste of talent. Detroit lions right. You guys have wasted first round picks. You guys have talent on your team. That's going that's going on the wayside so don't don't screw it up. Don't now you got. Jared goff a guides a quarterback. Does she been to. The playoffs. gives some pieces around him if you think he's your guy if you don't think he's your guy trade them somehow or just i don't know take the hit. I don't know how it works. But don't keep him around. He's not your guy now. The detroit lions again pieces future rebuild.

"Staffer wants to get in bed with so be it. He might just prove he can be the one to whip this group of losers into shape. Either that or he'll be a loser like the rest of them. Okay you know what dude. Don't okay. I gotta say this you organize sit there and say that this team is a bunch of losers and that first of okay. Let's go back to the waste of talent. Your quarterback doesn't wanna play for you. He doesn't want to go beyond the detroit lions anymore. You wanna why. Because your team is a bunch of losers. Your team sucks the detroit. Lions m sorry for a lines. Fans i offend. You guys are probably headed in the right direction. Now with coach campbell. But you're team sucks. Your team wasted talent. Wasted matt stafford. That guy is no doubt talented quarterback. I don't think and if people wanna question how good he is. Go looking the stats. I don't people say well he always stats. Because they were losing him to throws back in blah blah blah whatever. He is still a talented core. Begging he made a lot of throws a do not get noticed. I've seen them. I know he's a great quarterback and your organization detroit lions wasted him and you're going to sit there and call and say the culture a bunch of losers for what we've made the playoffs. How many times you the mass stafford. Also let's not forget wasted town barry. Sanders didn't wanna play anymore for you. Guys calvin. johnson didn't wanna play anymore for you guys. Don't compare andrew luck retirement because of his injuries and not dealing with it like he said the injuries or piling up tired of it. we screw. Now i'll tell you that. The colt with ryan grigson hurt andrew luck. Why because he got hurt and the offensive line was never built until chris. Bauer got there and so once along was bill he felt good but he suffered another injury. He's mentally said i'm done. I don't blame him for that but to sit there and call it. The indianapolis colts a bunch of losers. When your team hasn't done anything is. I'm sorry you're a disgrace okay. I'm not gonna use disgrace because that's not right. Your opinion and this article is terrible. Okay terrible con team. A bunch lose all they just get one foot in the playoffs and they are merely flung mountain really because they made to the afc championship game with angela. As a starting quarterback to okay so this one foot in the playoffs thing is that's a firkin line. His first three years they actually went from the wild card to the divisional round to the afc champion game. So don't even try that. The colts are great team. If you call him a bunch of losers your team is going to continue to be a bunch of losers. Unfortunately you wanna why could you guys ways talent cowman. Johnson didn't want to play for your organization anymore..

"Yeah. Sometimes the generally at that point, then the compensation that's really, really, really high gets leaked out. But remember, it's a combination. It's not just it's not just about the compensation. It's also about to shine agreeing to that place, So I mean, you could have just name a team that he doesn't love is offering five ones and he's like I don't want to go. That's but that's not. That would be a moot point. Because the shot and I see people who say that If, unless the shot, Watson requests a trade and verbalize is it then they're not going to do that. When he does, there's asked him for a shortly. Give me the list of teams. You won't right away. So there that will never entered into the conversation. Understand they're gonna list it. I'm just saying all we're talking about teams calling anything That doesn't really matter what they say, because, in the end, it takes to tell either Billy to give to Shawn and his agent permission to work out a trade if they don't if you know if that's how they feel war, and they'll give them shortly, anyway, there's gonna be a list that goes one way or the other and then and that'll be, but he's not. Requested a trade. That's the thing all this other stuff you're hearing his third party stuff. And, yes, there are people that are upset with that locker room and upset with that front office. Sure. But I'm gonna tell you right now. Franchises don't have fights between the team chaplain and a top 10 quarterback. Right by team Chaplain. Yes, reassigned, worked another, You know, it's always the car and then you know, whatever. That you don't have a fight between a chaplain. Your best player just doesn't happen because in the end your players, your player and your chaplain is leading prayer. No, You're 100%. Right? So this is gonna sort it out. I feel like the situation has become on issue that the Texas they're gonna need to resolve before. It was just kind of like he's not really returning our calls, and there were reports on and so forth. But it's January. Let them hire a head coach. See where that goes on the text line. Coach Campbell sounds like a death metal remake of Chambal Woman's tub thumping on that's from Ville. That's good, this one says. If we lose seven's, we're talking about the safeties and about the Broncos. Maybe going to the draft. If we lose sevens, I wouldn't mind getting both of the TCU safeties are Darius Washington seems like a good nickel player. No, I no question he said. Maybe a more athletic Philly. Well, that's actually kind of a good kind of good cop. I don't actually hate that very much. I mean, more Maury will will cost you like you're gonna have to probably get him at the end of the first round. Somewhere the beginning of the second round if he somehow slips like he's that kind of player aren't areas I think are Darius is a day to player, but I think probably causes more of this size than anything. Most of those. The best way to look at the Senior Bowl guys is that they probably are the deed did a two players Well, these guys need to these guys were even at the scene, you know, But I'm just saying that when we have senior bowl guys just to get by a heads up it probably our senior bowl Guy Day. Two guys, and some of them may work their way into the first. That's the best way to look at his most His guys. Were they two guys smattering a day three, the future undrafted, But that's that's really where the meat of that is. And if you're the Broncos, and they're this scenario plays out as we've we've talked about it might where they trade back. They're gonna be doing a lot of the drafting on day two. They're moving, moving back to get those meat of the You know, the value picks their second multiply the value picks and you know if if they do that, those you guys you're gonna want to pay attention to. So you know, just just kind of a heads up on that The process of the thought process behind first rounders is that's an immediate day. One contributor. Yes, When you grab somebody the first round you expect them and expect them to contribute heavily day, which is one of the reasons why you shouldn't look at him. He's so flipping that I'm not saying that the Broncos do but I'm saying the people that are like, Oh, trade 45 1st, right. Shawn Watson. It's like, Well, you're talking about 45 starters that your training away E again. Not every you don't hit on every starter, right? But the Broncos certainly having last few years, right hit on some starters there. So, um, you know again, people value differently, but it sounds like George Payton and we played the sound but a couple days ago like he uses the draft as ammunition, So it's not so much that it's out of the possibility that he uses draft picks to do something like this. It just seems like as we said from the beginning, what's more logical in this situation if George Payton, who just got on the job, decides to blow up the frame, franchises, future and draft capital to go get to Shawn Watson. They're going to be some people celebrating that. And certainly, for a couple of years, you're in a Super Bowl window. But then after that, where the bill does come to hear the part of this, the angle that most people don't think about is if they trade to show him what to do A team for a bunch of first rounders. Those first rounders. They might look enticing right now, but they're not going to be if the shot Watson goes and improves that team the way the acquiring team thinks he's going to write. So they're going to want Maura than what you think they're going to want, because they're cognizant and aware of the fact that while it looks like the brown the Dolphins of the Broncos, this is we're talking top 10 picks right? But when you get to show what can you expect to be a playoff season that you talk about picks in the twenties? So it's gonna be the whole three first rounders thing. That's that's a starting point to get them to stay on the phone with you. The real compensation looks more like three first three seconds in a pro Bowl caliber player who ever reason people just sort of stuck and I saw the ESPN report from the German Fowler. And then you had that out there, but nothing ever for weeks. But you know what? You're saying that like people are stuck on this. We'll give him all these guys with expiring contract here that we don't want will totally take that. Another.

So 72 players, none of whom were among those five positives have to quarantine now for the next two weeks in Melbourne Bill back to you because I have a quick question for you before before you head out because you I would not describe you is the most Confrontational person on earth. I think you're the right guy to ask this What do you feel like? Is the social media following requirement for colleagues in terms of like Twitter following like, what is the you know you're a radio host at a place together or your regional managers and insurance. Conglomerate together or your own? No offensive lineman, you know, for for an NFL team, your your your your cluster together. What's the What's the sort of breathing the requirement should be socially Especially you don't really like the persons handle like we don't have a my walking into a trap. Right here, Tom. You can not yesterday trap Just like that can happen is like I feel sort of liberated. But I feel bad about my liberation. I fell everybody that I work with and a colleague. Unfollowed me on Twitter and All I felt was massive relief as I was able to push the unfollowed button without any this sort of what felt like social obligations to follow for. You know, every taste is that you know is in the eye beholder for me was one of the worst Twitter followers that that I've had in the last. I don't know. And years that I've been on but on the platform I'm wondering, Do I have an obligation to like? You can follow once your own followed, right? Yes. I think the play here not to give this person a pass. But why wouldn't they just mute you? If they didn't want to? Like if they were tired of what you're posting about? Why would they just meet you? Then you'd think they were following you. And you would never and then But you'd never know that's a rookie mistake by them toe on follow and let you and give you the hint that they were out. Yeah, that's I've no as a good I'll say this. I don't do that sort of like weird principle. Like I am just like I'm gonna follow people I follow and I'm gonna own my own follows of my own follow someone. So maybe it's that It was really interesting is this person followed me for a long time, and I was just, you know, I just happen to notice it and normally look, I'm a prideful guy. I'll be like a bunch of people follow me here at the radio station. I'm like, what the hell man? This one was like relief was like, Okay, I'm follow. Like I feel like I'm in the clear now. Right there, soldier. There seems to be intent. Like almost like there's a message being sent here, though, because I'm with bogus, like the mute is so easy and then you never know just a one way train. You cut it off. You don't have to see it anymore. If it's really knowing you, But then there's like the send a message. Which is like I'm going to actually hit theon follow and then wait. It's like a time bomb. Then wait till he figures it out. And then he'll really get the singer. So it seems like you really got the singer now, But it's a courtesy because because can you imagine like if I had to follow this person's a name tweeting forever and not know that they'd muted me. Just like great. Like who needs what a game? Yeah. Thanks. Already Follow Magic Johnson. So I'm I'm good. I'm in the clear. I know who was now that once we gave it away, I just carry. I just wanted you because you're such a nice guy. I wanted you. I wanted you like Normally be like I'd do some soul searching. And if I don't mean wrong that I tweet something was I was not nice on the air, pretty good Two colleagues, But this time I just felt so happy..
