"Going to be one of those things that last forever. I don't know how much to get into whether I feel like what he did was justified or not, 'cause I do think it wasn't a time or place for it. But I also understand what he was angry about. This very much felt like his practice interview. It very much felt like he was coming in there to say, I won a championship. I'm having a great comeback. I'm having one of the best years of my career. And we're still talking about Coke Cabana. We're still talking about practice. I don't want to talk about Coke man and no more. He's not my friend. I don't know why we're talking about this anymore. And that part about it, I understood. But once you started going in on your coworkers and all the rest of that stuff, I was like, you could have left that part out. To be fair, he started talking about co kebab. He brought it up first. Well, to be fair, though, people have been asking about for a year, the night he debuted, somebody asked him that night. And it's been an ongoing question for a year. The rumors about whether he got booted have been a thing for a while. He was trying to get ahead of a question that may or may not have kept. Well, okay, so here's the thing, right? Let's pocket this and then we can kind of stretch it out because the coal covan issue has been lingering for a long time. Sure. And let's just say you have your own personal beef with somebody. I don't believe like, I feel like I have, there are some similarities that I have with punk. If I don't like somebody, I don't like somebody. And that's kind of the end of it, right? I don't care if you work there. Just stay the fuck away from me. And I think at a certain point you get tired of being asked the same questions about your coworker. Now look, I've talked to cold Cabana, numerous cases. I've been on close podcast, not picking sides here. The only thing I know is that CM Punk doesn't like him. And whatever it is that their history and now people are starting to believe that punk has something to do with him going to Ring of Honor. That's the frustrating part for punk. The problem is, is when you start, when you go off without being asked, and it bleeds into other things, let's just say he just talked about Cole Cabana. I don't think we'd be talking about this anymore. Yeah. It was once you started talking about the EVPs, being like children, hangman page, because obviously for those who didn't haven't paid attention, page kind of alluded to it at the double or nothing, the go home show on dynamite. People have been like using this for promo material and fueling it, so I get his frustration, but it has to stay with Cole Cabana, especially when these are your coworkers, who hired you. We're talking about co Cabana. Like he's a normal coworker, right? Like, oh, I dislike my coworker. No, they're synonymous at a point. CM Punk and colt Cabana. That's like decent Miro not getting asked ever again about each other. Y'all were desus and mural. Like Bert and Ernie splitting up. And you can't, you know, Bert, what happened to Ernie? Y'all were just in the tub, chilling, right? It's like that. You are together. It's not a random coworker that you hate. Y'all were thick as thieves. Y'all were boys. And you could have answered these questions if we're keeping it a buck, 8 years ago. But you left WWE, the lawsuit happened, and you disappeared. So these questions are an outdated. Wait, wait, no, no, no, no. He can't ask those questions 8 years ago because this lawsuit was just, this is recent. So while he's been gone and on top of that, he didn't expect to go to a workplace where colt was going to also be at. So now that he knew that coming in, but it was there. But what I'm saying is, yes, of course you know that somebody that you dislike is now working at the company that you're working at, you're also the biggest star, right? So anything that happens to colt, people are going to look at you. That's the frustration. Because that was your boy. But I'm saying, you understand this frustration. I can understand that kind of frustration. This shit is like every 90s hood movie. Right? This is, this is everything. This is juice. And this is him having his ace. This is that. That's who Coke Cabana is to you. So when you come back to the same place, this man is at. They're going to ask you about him. Right, but you're going to be frustrated. It's been a year. A year is not enough. A year is not enough. It really isn't. Go ahead, Phil. Well, the thing is, and by the way, punk is absolutely the Burt in that analogy. He's definitely the one that's tired of people eating cookies in the bread bed and tied up telling cult like, look, keep that over there. Yo, I think the bigger issue to me is because I follow punk for a long time whether it be through interviews, his character and stuff. I picked up a lot of his quirks. And one of the things I've noticed with him right away is he's the kind of guy when everything is going well. He's still mad about something that happened two months ago. Or three months ago. And if I had to guess, I would bet he's been mad about this coat thing for a while. And I feel like the fact that it keeps coming up just made him aggressively more and more mad about it. The fact that the promo happened and from a fan's perspective, it looks like hangman didn't do anything wrong and at the same time punk is punk. He's body brown in this situation when your Bobby Brown, you gotta be Bobby now. Everybody's gonna look at it. Like, it's your fault. It doesn't matter if that's true or not. And I think he looked at it like, no, I'm tired of being blamed for stuff that other grown men have done, and I have nothing to do with me. Talk to them. Stop asking me what is his deal and why he's demoted. Stop asking me what is Hank man's issue with me? I don't know what his issue is with me because he didn't tell me. I can agree with that to level on the punk side of things, right? 'cause now where I'm packing this. And Phil alluded to this a little while

I know some people are gonna be looking at the lineup for the crews and they may say oh man this is cruise fucking man. We're we're where's the stars. Where's the what the fuck. And if you want my honest opinion they were missing and most of the people that i spoke to. They agreed There's one longtime listener of the rc. W shot did not find out Until after the cruise was frigging over that they were on a cruise as well. And had i known now we would've been hanging out for sure. But even they had said and they were pretty excited for the cruise eight. They had a great time but even they had told me privately that you know. Hey yeah it would have been nice. If we would have gotten eddie kingston if we would have gotten a moxley If we could have gotten adam cole or young bucks yeah really would have been nice. How we got them But maybe the next cruise right like yeah. Probably but i thought for what they were able to put together and everything. I thought they did a pretty good. Something is not supposed to be funny but you chuck landed anyway. That's not supposed to be funny. I don't know why. I'm laughing because pizza made you think like that's funny because i looked at the silliness of what is supposed to be serious. Like how absurd. It could be bright. How we as you put things on. We put so much emphasis on things that are just not important. Things are norma's dying of cancer and let nobody know so it wouldn't affect his act. You know because that would be the focus and he wanted the focus of his act to be on what he was saying. Instead of just like first of all. I'm i know norm would have made his act about cancer hilarious But that would have been the focus of his show instead of what he wants you to focus on. And that was more import- don't pity me. Don't pity me. He's like yeah now. I'm like god nor mcdonald's. Oh he's like yeah. I'm dying of cancer cancer jokes. he's he did. Have i mean my career died. Three years ago but i have cancer. He would've made it like because he did have a candy job but As always i love when you stop it. Because i i don't have to any reason why although you are wrestler it we wrestling you know what i am proud of professional wrestling. The business of professional wrestling is is something left to be desired sometimes because it could be very ruthless business a very cutthroat business. Obviously late show business right but professional wrestling. Has i needed to get on tv to do that. To to be an acrobat to be a fighter to to be funny to be you know to make people angry to make people happy right. Just start beating the living shit out malachi black there you go. That's how you can reinsert cody rhodes and you can justify everything you can say you know. I had it when cody does come back week after pretty much respond. What all have went down near. Where black putting his hands. I'm brandy and everything mother of his child. Ri- can pretty much jump out there. man. I saw the crap that went down with Saudi crap that went down there with arn and son saw the crap that happened with lee johnson and he can admit he gave me. He can say you know. Am i was scared of malachi black yes. I've never faced this kind of darkness before. I've never faced an opponent like malachi black before i've never ever come across somebody with this type of of of of a cold heart of evil in their soul. Any really rattled me a really put me and a really messed up head space and pretty much. What snapped him out of it was what malachi black could've done that's exactly that's exactly how you can dub it does exactly how you can dub it and boom you. Got cody reinserted. That's pretty much how you can do it whether or not. They're going to go in that direction that remains to be seen. I mean. Look if aws got something cooking. They're going to be able to do a lot better than that. Hey i i'm enjoying the ride so far but i'm very concerned. That's that's really what i'm trying to say to you guys. Look these guys are being paid a handsome amount of money to look at your question and answer that question. It would be no different. Than if a w were to ever do business with ric flair and somehow get ric flair to start making appearances there. And a w you've already got arn anderson over there you've already got tully blanchard. Jj daily has already proved that he's willing to do some stuff because we recently saw him on a w and everything so if there was ever a time usually imagine if you were able to get hold of ric flair yamaha four horsemen four horsemen fucking cells. "Friday july twenty second two thousand eleven by former wwe christie member from two thousand nine or two thousand ten. John marini a regular guest lately on the show regular guest co host john it. How's it going for you doing late. Good man. No shortage of Big subjects to catch up with you on with This week with money in the bank pay per view and And then the big angle on raw on monday. I want to invite people to get on the phone lines and get your questions ready for john me. The number to call is six four six seven two one nine. Eight two eight john. I'm eager to hear because i haven't talked to you since then. What's your What's your thought on how the Specifically the pump situation with johnson played out at money in the bank on sunday night. I thought it was great. I i don't think that You've had that feeling In wrestling for for quite some time. I remember Pack tweeting it during the During the show where it almost felt like the The audiences back win W would go into the philadelphia area when he. Cw is running rampant and it just that that that feeling of anything can happen. And i wonder if if there's going to be something going down and the whole just the whole feeling for that punk match was with something that's been missing for for quite some time. What what's your reaction to the ratings Being disappointing three-point two does that does that. Cause i mean. We talked about this last week to. Does it caused a little pause in thinking. This really got a small segment offense excited but if you are feeling like this isn't for them i think that i think that there's two ways to look at it. I think from the wwe. Vince mcmahon standpoint. I think he's looking at it as people earn. Or maybe can't nolan cares about season punk. I tried to tell you guys for five years or you know I think on the other hand. I just think that people or just i think people stayed with it as long as they could and i think they just kind of felt like i'm moving on and they found whatever it was that that got them to move on majority of it is probably usc. And then. I think you know the people that that didn't go to usc a few years ago. That stuck around think i don't know where they went but it seems surprising because that that story was. I know we've discussed it in the past. Where it's you kind of you keep watching. You can't stop because you're waiting for that next moment that next and of you or hogan turn heel or or attitude era. You're waiting for that next goldman. You always stick around him. I feel like that story kind of gave that feeling again. And i think that i don't know i just wonder if people just think that they're going to be disappointed because of the products that they were they were given this kind of feel like. They're not gonna do anything with it or i think the other thing too. Is that when you've done stories like john cena getting fired and showing up the next week and then essentially really never Having a consequence to in being fired. I think that people just kind of don't anticipate you doing anything with these stories and they probably figure you know as much as maybe that shoot promo by funk. Got people to go with that real enough to get people to say. I gotta see what's going to happen. I think people just figure by next week you'll pricey park on tv again. And i don't know if you will. But i think that's probably the fearing and then. I think that when you see bunk on tv that it's just going to be all right. Well it's just another normal storyline now and i'm struggling with as i try to process this angle and the rather tepid hard data related to it and and i'm a believer in nielsen. I i believe in statistics. I believe that if you put a million or if you put a ten thousand red red red marbles into a jar and one thousand blue marbles into hr and you pull out one hundred of them. Only i think you mix them up really well and you pulled out only one hundred. I think you're going to have a representative sample. And then i really believe you can take a small sample of something and it'll represent a larger sampling nielsen. Has from stories have read done good upgrades. It's not perfect. But i think within a small reasonable variants. I totally believe to numbers. I mean it's just bad it. Just it plays out accurately. That's why they can call elections ahead of time to in most cases so that said i'm i'm not making an excuse that well apparently nielsen boxes aren't homes of cool people who aren't in the homes of people who like good wrestling maryland to people like bad wrestling or you know. I don't buy that so when i'm struggling with is if i if we accept the nielsen ratings and we're look at the pattern. I'm still i they. They were able to pop ratings when things tap people's attention now granted it's somewhat seasonal in the in that The ratings pops when they went to three eight three eight three nine three seven during a four week stretch at the nf everett and the beginning of march that was leading into wrestlemainia season. And then they dropped off one week but then they went back up to a three eight two three eight and a three five in the heart of wrestlemainia season so they can operating but the three point two. This week is right in the same neighborhood as january seventeenth. A three point three january twenty four to three three February seventh three three february fourteenth. Three point one. So it's just kind of in the range of what you expect with. Run of the mill episodes. And so that's what i struggle with is due if this brought in some fans and had to also have turned off others and i and i even think and you touched on this john the ones who are who who liked this angle. I think they like it for a reason. that is unsustainable for. Wwe to carry over week after week. If you run an angle and the only reason people are excited about it is they think it's real and then the only way for wwe to actually make money on it is two. Fold it into the storylines those people who like something because it's real by definition going to be frustrated in a week or two or three and different process. You confuse the majority of your people who don't know why co cabanas an inside reference things is talking about and they're just scared that the pedals gonna be taken away or that scene is going to be fired and they kinda disgruntled. I think you end up with a wash. And i think that's kind of what we're looking at ear wash. Yeah and you look at it. I think another thing you could do to touching on that that portion of the audience that you said that go. Who's called cabana. what are they talking about. I think that you you've confused them. Even more when you have for the first time ever And a lot of the audience that knows at least the storyline standpoint of triple h being somewhat connected to. Vince mcmahon through stephanie Heard aaa music. Saw him coming out in a suit. And you know these fans are probably the people that started watching..

"To have him on and be like. Let's go deep about this stuff that you wrote about. What did you learn when you were interviewing pat patterson or whatever it was and i was like. Yeah i love this. And i know that i would love if there is a show like this so it was always my approach. Doing what was then. Sam roberts wrestling podcast. That's why i put no sort of pressure on myself to come up with a flashy name or you know. Come up with some kind of i dunno industry jargon term that i could twist into a into the you know turnbuckle bump or something. I don't know i just wanted to do a wrestling. Podcast that was hosted by me. So that's where the title came from. Believe it or not But to watch it grow. And even then i was like people thought i was late coming to the podcast game when i started three hundred and fifty weeks ago watching wrestling podcast change and evolve and grow and build and bill to the point. Where it's like wrestling. Podcasts are one of the biggest genres in podcast. You got comedy podcast. Co cabana had a ton to do with that by the way because cococabana is the one that took the what what comedy podcasts were. Doing which was for a long time. It was his mark man. It was comedian talking to another comedian and that format just exploded and coca ban is the one that said what if it was a wrestler talking to another wrestler that opened the floodgates. I feel like that was. That was a huge step forward. But i had no idea where it was going to go. I had no idea any there was no business plan behind it. I wasn't it. I didn't make any money. I mean i'm still like it could never be my primary source of income. Because it's not i don't know i just don't look at it that way. I look at it as something that i feel still to this day. Very lucky to do and something that i like that it's out there and you know i feel really lucky and fortunate that so many of you guys have ridden with me. Through every incarnation of this podcast. When it was just me sitting in my living room my one bedroom apartment alone trying to work things out. You know riding through the linen doll years of just. I mean so much great stuff coming out of that. You know the the seeing the podcast evolved to the point that it was not as interview focused anymore more opinion based the live events that we've done and getting to this place where i'm at now where i've told you you know that i'm planning on having an interview every other week. Know coming out of cova digest. I look at the wrestling. Podcast not him wrestling this podcast differently. You know i. I'm for whatever reason. I feel refreshed and i. I'm starting to feel like. I fell when i first started doing the podcast where it's like. It's time for me to go back to taking advantage of having the opportunity to talk to people who are passionate about this thing that i'm passionate about as well professional wrestling but talk to people that that live it and breathe. It talked to people that are in the ring. Talk to people that are doing their thing and and maybe even expose them to a new audience if anything just selfishly take advantage of the fact that i'm gonna get to sit down with them for an hour and pick their brain you know. And that's where somebody like know. An and i think some of the stuff that i did over cove it you know. It was making me rethink of the dan housing interview. It's the it's the a lot of independent talent was making me rethink things but the interview with with alli catch that. We did a few weeks ago. I loved so much. The interview with nick gage that we did two weeks ago. I loved that so much. We're going to have another great long form in studio interview on next week. Show and that's going to be something that continues here on the podcast. You know i'm gonna try. I'm trying to figure out a schedule in my mind. I'd like after every pay per view to be able to offer you a pay per view recap show and in order to do a proper pay per view recap show. I think it's weird to do an interview and the pay per view recaps. I'm trying to do every other week. Topic interview interview. But i might have to double up on one or the other just to keep in line with those Post pay per view shows. Which i think are important. But that's where my mind's at right. Now i'm just you know i feel like at episode three fifty here. We've we've planted the seeds over last month or so and the podcast is once again evolving and moving into a new direction. And i'm really excited to be in a spot where depending on the week. It's either about analysis that some of you love current product analysis. Mix with kind of that overarching old school thing. Whether it's you know talking about best fan moments ever whether it's talking about the best promos from last week which we'll get into some of the emails. I got or this week when we're going over this tag team list. That is going to bring us into a conversation. I'll have a guest on mike. Mansehra will be back to talk about the tag teams but to have that.
