"And that's the funny <Speech_Male> thing about the west climb. <Speech_Male> We'll get you out in the second <Speech_Male> here but like <Speech_Male> we. All kinda <Speech_Male> fall to the lakers based <Speech_Male> on the talent <Speech_Male> at the very top <Speech_Male> their big three. <Speech_Male> Although there's <Speech_Male> a lot of adjustments they're going to <Speech_Male> have to happen there and they've turned <Speech_Male> over the entire roster around <Speech_Male> lebron ad. <Speech_Male> But <Speech_Male> if there's any <Speech_Male> slip. They're <Speech_Male> like that next group. <Speech_Male> Like if it's not the lakers <Speech_Male> the will then it's <Speech_Male> who does a <Speech_Male> really hard question to answer <Speech_Male> because <Speech_Male> denver utah <Speech_Male> phoenix. <Speech_Male> Maybe even the clippers <Speech_Male> who <Speech_Male> we don't know if when <Speech_Male> kawais coming back when <Speech_Male> moore is coming back <Speech_Male> there's so much <Speech_Male> parody in <Speech_Male> the next group of <Speech_Male> four or five <Speech_Male> and then there's another group below <Speech_Male> them that's competitive <Speech_Male> like it really <Speech_Male> is tough do <Speech_Male> you. I mean <Speech_Male> i <Speech_Male> should just ask you this to get <Speech_Male> you out of here. <Speech_Male> Is it lakers <Speech_Male> in the finals. Or you think it's <Speech_Male> actually <Speech_Male> a little <Speech_Male> little <Speech_Male> counter <SpeakerChange> to expectations <Speech_Male> here. <Speech_Male> A great <Speech_Male> question because <Speech_Music_Male> you never know help <Speech_Music_Male> is gonna play a major <Speech_Male> part of <Speech_Male> the lakers. I love the <Speech_Male> fact that they have so many <Speech_Male> veterans <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> actually laughable. <Speech_Music_Male> But but they're all <Speech_Male> still good and <Speech_Music_Male> still play but <Speech_Male> i love <Speech_Male> They're the geriatric <Speech_Male> team of nba. <Speech_Male> I love that. <Speech_Music_Male> But <Speech_Male> but i think they <Speech_Male> ought effectiveness as <Speech_Male> well so you gotta <Speech_Male> love what they put together. <Speech_Male> They're trying to win <Speech_Male> now. And <Speech_Male> that's what it's all about. <Speech_Male> But the nets <Speech_Male> they can keep everyone <Speech_Male> healthy and <Speech_Male> and remedy to cowry <Speech_Male> situation. <Speech_Male> I think big a <Speech_Male> lot of talent but trevor <Speech_Music_Male> is going to be a factor. <Speech_Male> I <Speech_Male> think milwaukee <Speech_Male> the defending champions <Speech_Male> a gonna be <Speech_Male> at the forefront of the <Speech_Male> conversation. <Speech_Male> It's all these teams <Speech_Male> are all multitalented <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> driven debbie. <Speech_Male> They're playing <Speech_Male> very high level <Speech_Male> and and that's <Speech_Male> gonna make for great <Silence> nbac's <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> absolutely <Speech_Male> That season <Speech_Male> starting tuesday night. <Speech_Male> That's when we'll also get <Speech_Male> the i twenty five <Speech_Male> members of the seventieth <Speech_Male> anniversary team <Speech_Male> that will be rolled out on tnt <Speech_Male> espn <Speech_Male> for the second twenty <Speech_Male> five and then back to <Speech_Male> see for the last <Speech_Male> group of twenty five next <Speech_Male> thursday <Speech_Male> clyde <Speech_Male> drexler voter <Speech_Male> top fifty <Speech_Male> all time. "I'm not giving you guys any more time to get more players to play with me. I'm lee but he had. He had patients. I had lemon have years as a lot of patients make about it. So so bill. The team but the drought. Did you a little loyalty a little patients. But don't let it ruin your entire career is what i would say. Good advice you get to see. How much input did you have on your destination back then. A lot of input on houston is where i'm from That's the only place. I would have gone because one they were good. They had won the championship in ninety four. They had a little discord on their team. I knew they really wanted me. And so that that played a part in it You know when you want it and then they know you can make a difference and luckily things worked out with. Went back wanna championship right away. Two years later we got berkeley and that was a whole other era. So if you could if you had the latitude back then that guys have now and part of this is just shorter. Contracts part of it. The contracts are so just stupidly ridiculously rich that you can afford take some chances and maybe even sacrifice a year of guaranteed money like i have a lot of freedom and on various levels. If you could have back then said you know what in the summer of ninety three. I'm forming my own team in free agency. Some other guys are you could do what lebron bosh and wade did back in the day like who. Would you have formed your your hypothetical super team with a great question. I mean so many great players today. But i think you have to have some entanglement. You can't be up front runner but but you know just think about all the great players of that time would have been easy to get together and say hey guys. Let's go put the team together and try to win. But that's not the way the game should be played. I mean these franchises invest a lot of money and selecting the personnel. And if they select you. They have full faith and confidence in youth. They select you. I you should give them everything you have. I truly believe that now. The don't let him ruin your entire career if they don't put good pieces of is their job to try to put good pieces around you and everyone knows it's easy to see you know if you've got to have a chance to win or not. I remember one year. I'm in portland. And this is just one instance. And i'm sure they had good intentions. But i'm we're playing against the lakers. In the first round of the playoffs. I think nineteen eighty six or seven. One can remember that far back our but they had four five number one picks on their team korean magic worthy michael townsend and probably make it. And then you have guys. Like michael cooper barscott. Ac green on their team all these great plants right. I i got three guys. Ten day contracts on my team colwell jones. I get omaris lucas. As like how how we having. So you know. Instances like that. And that's when you go. Hey guys you gotta get some talent here. You know those things happen though. But that's why talent and management management is everything when you got good management. Those players will stay if you got incompetent management year after year. You may make mistakes but year after year after year..

"The NFL that fourth and fifteen proposal where you can do the onside kick, or you have the option fourth and fifteen deepen your own territory lottery. But if you make it, you get the ball first down ready to go. I loved it. It's new I'd rather games be decided by a quarterback than a hands team player Eric managing is joining us via the coward. What is what is your? What is your take and it didn't even get to vote. It didn't even get much support. I understand why and look it would have been the legacy of the xfl if it had gotten pushed through and to me, this is this is taking special teams even more on the game. I, it is called football I. There's got to be an element of feet involved in this and the kicking game has to be involvement I understand that that everybody wants a easier path to victory, or and but it's. The forces teams to be good in all three phases earliest be competent in all three phases in order to to win. A Game I had a story last week and I thought of you. That's why I'm so glad you're on us to coach the jets. Jamal Adams is very good. He's a he can rush the passer. He's a dynamic playmaker. But. He's a safety. And when you have a football roster in a salary CAP, and you've got holes throughout the roster, there are times I'd be willing to move off a player I. Love who I think is great down. There's the argument. The jets don't have enough star players, and he jumps off the field. He jumps through the TV screen. You ran the jets today. What do you do with? Jamal Adams great going to be hyper expensive, and he's a safety. We. There's things that consider outside of just what he does on the field, the six overall pick. He's been well compensated. He wants more money right now, and he wants to go to Dallas. If you accommodate them in both those cat, let's say let's say do make the trade. What message are you sending to the rest of the Locker Room? The next guy that's unhappy is gonNA come up and say okay. I want to trade I. Want more money and you create that precedent. Organizationally in terms of how you're going to do business, and and it's a dangerous one to to do that now. If you think that you can get real value form, and you can help your team longer term. He doesn't totally fit your philosophy and vision then then yet go ahead. Do what's what's in your best interests, but to allow guys shoot their way out of town I? Think it's think it's a bad message to send. Yeah, no, I get it so a you know New England well coach. They're got a lot of rings because of it, so one of the talk show hosts their Lumo Loney. Said listen, he said I. Don't like this New Brady. This new Brady's talk and he's not funny. He's out there going into parks and getting thrown out of them. He just doesn't feel like our Tom it's. My takeaway is Boston is paralyzed by tradition. They like you to do things. Their way and Tom is kind of aspirational. He wanted a new life. He wanted a new. He wanted to have some fun. And this is just part of. It doesn't bother me. But what do you make of the criticism from some Boston people that you know what the new Brady look silly trying too hard too much business. We're not comfortable with it. Yeah He. He's not your Tom Anymore. He he's. And may be mad at your ax because they're going out and doing some things that you guys didn't do together. But what's time really doing? It didn't interview on Howard Stern okay, so that took two hours his life, and then he did a Tiktok with Giselle. There's another thirty minutes Oh, and then he did the horrible thing where he went and did a Charity Golf Tournament and raise twenty million dollars for covert relief. To me all those things, just such a horrible waste of time. That that's not going to be the thing that affects them in Tampa, Bay, what's going to affect them in Tampa? Bay is what system they adopt and of. It's the Bruce Arians system with just a little bit input from Tom that's going to have much bigger effect than Tom Being. You know this new whatever Tampa. Tom Or to not take serious tom yet. None of it really matters so baker I said this earlier and people think I don't like Baker. Of course I'm very optimistic and cheery personality I like everybody unless they took me. That's right right Mr Cherry often. So if you take out the four games against the Bengals, the worst NFL defense historically two years ago and the worst defense in the league last year. He's nine sixteen sixty percent completions thirty nine hundred thirty picks. He's a bust, a number one pick. He's a bust. I don't think he'll be a bust this year, but he did say yesterday. Hey, no more talking just doing. I think bakers figured out. This is the end of the road, too fancy got Christian ponder the playoffs. He's not wasting a second with Baker. If any of this maturity issue surfaces, so might take away his baker. I don't know if he's changing, but I think he can sense the temperature of the room. That's my takeaway in his comments, your thoughts. I liked what beggars saying even when we were at the Super Bowl and he was down there, and and it felt like he had a better perspective in there, there's more humbleness to to his approach, and that's what what you need to do I like the approach, or or what I'm seeing out of the browse and this entire offseason. The only thing we're talking about is they're all in challenge where someone gets the call play, and that's a great thing. We're not talking about the hyper expectations or the issues off the field it's it's been a much more quiet approach, and and and to me that the credit to Savannah skiing and the way. Way that they're doing things from acres perspective. It's great now. Hopefully, this is the way that that that he stays now. He did also say in one of those interviews. The third year is a big year for contract. So that lends itself to what you're saying Colin. This is a little bit of reading. The tea leaves and saying if I want to get that next bite of the apple, I need to do a lot better job of not just managing things on the field, but managing things off the field. Did you like when he talks about his contract? Do you think that's something I? Don't love it, but it is what it is. No I liked when he was talking about. We just need to go out and do it. I have a different approach. Those things to me were were really exciting. Because it does show, maturity chose humbleness, it shows a respect for for the game, and and when you start adding in the contract, the cynical side comes out. We say okay. He's just saying this because he thinks it's the right thing to say. I'm hoping it's says the former that he has matured and has a totally different approach, Cam, Newton Market Small Forum. Tiny no takers. Bridgewater's got a job. Mariota's got a job nick. Foles has got a job. James has got a job Camden Naveh job shocked. What kind of job does he want? He is he willing to take a million and a half like some of these other backups are are taking. That's that's a pretty big salary adjustment for a guy like cam is willing to come in and truly be a backup and support the Star I said this in New England. They're not looking for a star. They're looking for a starter and camp comes with a big personality with a big presence with a lot of distractions, the other side of it is how much has his his throwing motion really changed and we haven't. Haven't seen it the change of throwing motion under real pressure. It's hard to do that at this point in a guy's career, so you don't truly know what you're getting. Do I think there'll be a market form yet? Some point and I think he should wait right now. Somebody's going to go to camp. See that the the quarterback situation isn't what they hoped and he'll get a lot more money. Little bit down the road by the way either opportunity. I would be remiss if I didn't mention us. I told you during the break..

What kind of job does.

"This in my column. DEADSPIN DOT COM that labranche. COULD BE WANNA be the biggest loser when the Caesar we boot because he has to win this year. Just what you talked about where the Lakers are. You'll never know they'll be this good again. AD It can be. It becomes a free agent. dozy. We sign. He can be flaky. You don't know and here's the other part. And Lebron should be worried. About is all the other competition that also is going to return. Brooklyn will have durant and Kyrie together. Don't forget. Golden State will be a player. Steph and clay will be back right, and they'll get a good draft. Draft pick because they have the terrible season. So when you start to look around and you're right. The clippers to me were good team this year and they. You know Dave didn't even get a chance to really GEL. Those guys were in and out of the line of with injuries. So now them a year later. Lou Merloni said I don't like the new Brady I don't like the way sounds. He's trying too hard got thrown out of a park. He's not good on the match and my argument is. "First of all as usual I I, think you're one hundred percent right? There are a lot of cynical people out there that I don't really understand one principal fact. The NFL does not want young players. He does the NFL does not want players to come to the NFL before they're ready. These are billion dollar or So the people that say college football's restrictive CETERA. The NFL's using college football I. Don't know that that's the case. The NFL is a standalone deal and yes, they count on College to to make their their to prepare the players for that leak, but not all of them can make it so my take on it honestly is that for most of us in college football and I to say all of us most of us. We think about college football. We don't just think about the NFL. because not all of our guys are gonNA. Make it to the ten percent that have a chance in the five percents that get a job and the two percents that actually can make living So for me, there is a friendship. There is a relationship They count on US sometimes to say hey, you know what guys these guys are ready. Maybe these guys are quite ready but they have scouts. They have their whole process so I don't look at college football as the quote Unquote Minor Leagues. I look at college football for what it is, which is an opportunity for young people to play football at a high level talk while getting a college degree. How good a shape can your players being i? In a way there was always a lotta top this past season about pushing back the beginning of a season anyway because of things you said but they don't WanNa keep getting into the summer more more dragging it out so even if idol sense that the NBA's announcing anything definitive on Friday out expect within the next week or two that they'll start detailing plans of when practices resume in that when the season's GonNa Start So Damian Lillard came out yesterday and I and I said this the NBA has a history. The media of they're looking for the next great thing. I Katie was better than the Lebron Hawaiian Janas. And I'm like folks. Lebron left the eastern conference in it evaporated like there's a reason they're thinking about re seeding. It's Lebron it's not because the raptors I would vote him. Mvp would've voted him MVP. I one time I sat down. It was like eleven times. He's got four Janas. Has Some better staff if you had to vote today. Who would you vote for and why? Vote the same way initially west leaning toward on us because lucky had a better regular season number spot. Lebron's numbers were still pretty good. He led the League. Says An. You know there's a lot of extra things That I think lebrons should get credit for inherited a new coaching staff. There was a lot of role players. That Gillette the Lakers. That may have looked good on paper. But there's always an element of unknown of how much world players can provide. An I think for the most part guys have been the best versions of themselves. He's totally elevated. Anthony Davis look the Kobe Bryant tragedy as hit everyone around the MBA. But there's no question at obviously impacted the Lakers lowest because of what Koby messed the organization and Lebron early integral part in being able to galvanize the team together this tough times acting as a result of that he should be given credit for not only what he's done on corporate. All those intangibles I this hour aunt Mark Dini. Nba USA Today. Our friend were all dealing with this virus and doing stuff wherever we can do stuff so it's apartments condos houses rooms anywhere. So I'd like your perspective as somebody who's much younger than me on the documentary. How it landed for you and all the post documentary squabbles. You've heard been amused by now. Michael Jordan a ninety s basketball. That's right we're up that's introduce me to the NBA. So when I was watching the documentary. It's not like I learned anything new. I rent a Lotta books. I watched games. That Michael played over the years. I knew all these story lines but I would. I was pretty amusing. That is that so many decades atrifacts. How strong Michael still held some of these grievances about certain players and served story lines and it just became a almost a running joke. Where when you would hear you know. "clyde drexler" Discussed on The Herd with Colin Cowherd

"Giveth labron credit for the stuff. He avoids if Lebron's in the room if Lebron's on the team it's going to be okay. He's like the really successful dad and he's got all these children under him and summer talented in summer dysfunctional but the successful dad comes in and he just kinda cleans all the messes up. He just makes it work. He makes Miami work. Lebron D- Wade. Frankly have similar games. They didn't even really work together and then Bosh had changed his game for Lebron. I mean Chris Bosh was averaging twenty five and ten goes to Miami and they kind of moved him outside and made him a shooter. Lebron Work for finals titles and he and D. Wade they're not really Lebron's best driving passing three point shooters. Ed didn't really work for finals. Titles he made it work Cleveland. He goes back tyree. Kyrie doesn't get along with anybody. They rolled who coaches. Gm's they rolled through the owner. Wasn't perfect and they make it work. They Win. Nobody WINS IN CLEVELAND. Lebron works they go to Los Angeles for a franchise. That was dysfunctional for years. I mean it was. It was a mess. Couldn't they couldn't land free agents? They all have all these young kids. Lebron goes in there and after about a year. Boom boom. Anthony Davis shows up there number one in the West. Just you gotta give people credit too often in society. We Crown People Heroes for saving messes. They created Lebron. Just makes everything lubricates. Everything make makes it work. They got the second oldest roster with the Lakers. Nobody thinks they have the world's best management I mean. Think about since he's been there. You had magic as a president and magic left and magic held at impromptu press conference without telling people now an agent runs the franchise and the unspeakably tragic death of Kobe. Bryant they've had multiple trades in the Lonzo ball situation and Anthony Davis gets hurt. Kyle Kuzma this year is not happy and the Lakers are the number one seed in the best road record and of course he's the MVP. It's not even close an NBA media. Just put your arms around him. Why don't you give him three straight? Mvp's to make up for the eleven you've missed on. He's been the most essential most impressive most important basketball player in this league for ten plus years in got forum. Vp's if you'd have put somebody that just didn't have the emotional. Stability OF LEBRON INTO CLEVELAND initially invented the Miami and then into the Lakers. Does everybody understand? As great as the Lakers brand was before Lebron got there for about five years. It was a mess it was it was a mess ownership executive level roster scouting. It was a mass now both talked about teaming the League for the record. I don't think he'll win. Mvp I don't it's not the way the NBA mediaworks he's easily the MVP. But Yana seventeen seventeen. Great kid great player. Seventeen Seventeen playoff record on the east will win it and has nothing against Jaanus. Put your arms around the guy that's carried the League for decade coming up next somebody else complaining about the Michael Jordan Documentary and the reason the NFL is king. I mean the. Nfl is laughing at the other leagues this morning. They are rolling their eyes and laughing at the other leagues. We'll talk about that next. Be Sure to catch live editions of the heard. Weekdays at noon eastern not. Am Pacific on Fox. Sports radio affects one and the iheartradio APP. Tommy John Soft loungewear and underwear or at home. We're anywhere guaranteed. Look and feel great. Tommy John Dot com code her. Tommy John Dot Com code her twenty five percent off sitewide so for years and years. People think I'm pro- Brown anti Michael Jordan. That's literally what people thought I always said. Lebron does more things well than anybody ever. Michael Jordan's pry the greatest player. But I don't think it's a a wild huge gap. I think Michael was cooler. There was more glamour. His shoes his apparel sells better. There's a coolness to Michael there's a wilfulness there's an aggression that Lebron sometimes isn't quite you know kind the killer that that Michael listen a different generation I mean Braun is more. Let's get along Michael's more old school schoo- cigars and you know bourbons and you know Lebron's more wine and let's all get along two different generation. You know Warren Buffett says every generation has got a better quality of life. Lebron's kids are going to grow up even more uniquely than his dad and so we're all different generation changes. Grandpa DID THE DAD SON. Brother do it all changes right. But I think Michael's the best player I've ever seen Lebron the second I think Magic's the third I don't count centres. Nothing against them but you know kind of genetic lottery thing but it shows you the power of Michael because how many people are still upset about documentary. Because Michael was honest. Now Michael wasn't totally honest. He didn't want is a on the Dream Team. And that's why wasn't on it and we still don't know but the pizza thing and that sickness thing. There's a lot of questions about it but the reality was when it comes to individual players. He was totally honest and it drives him nuts because basketball culture in America is fine. Talent coddle talent worship talent pay talent. They don't hear a lot of criticism they control the GM. They control the fans they control. The coach doesn't work that way in the NFL. It doesn't work that way in hockey and work that way in the MLS and work that way in college high school sports works that way in the NBA. They get used to the coddling. The worshiping every you make more money on shoes than you actually do. The millions of make on your contract and so when somebody points out your flaws. They're not used to it. Nba guys are not used to get criticized. It's a love fest or entire career so Clyde Drexler comes out yesterday and he doesn't like the way he's portrayed in the Michael Jordan documentary. Here's Clyde that's Michael's documentary. Of course. Obviously it's going to be from his perspective and a lot of times guys didn't like each other from other teams but as you get older you gotta you gotTa get beyond all of that and show some love and some respect for the people you play with and against you. This is a team game. It's not it's not one guy. I mean you could have fifty points in forty rebounds but if you lose. Are you a less of a player that anybody on the other team now? So it's a team game so. I hate when people act like it's an individual competition. I didn't take thirty five shots and get twenty three thousand eight. So you're not going forty some points tonight. Clyde also didn't play defense. You know much so now. Four people who are upset with the documentary pepin Isaiah Horace Grant and Clyde Drexler. They deserve their reputations..

Kobe on 'The Last Dance' brings out all the emotions

"Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant play game in MJ's last all star game Kobe's first all star game is a nineteen year old the locker room talk was interesting all the background on the agent getting a deal with Nike and the air Jordans the Mars Blackmon Spike Lee commercial that was awesome the whole beginning of be like Mike the Tony crew coach games at the Barcelona Olympics in nineteen ninety two the flash back to Clyde Drexler and the Blazers in the ninety two finals all of that I do you want to talk about at some point because I think there's some really interesting stuff in there also no matter what else errors from this point forward episode five will always be my favorite episode of its documentary and I will explain why it moving forward well what I thought was really poignant about episodes five and six and it really started at the end of episode five but episode six shone a spotlight on the heavy price and the responsibility that come with the type of fame that Michael Jordan had has but really at the height of his basketball career he was as recognizable as any figure on this planet he and the president of the United States and maybe in some cases more recognizable depending upon the age group and yet you can see in nineteen ninety eight through this season that was actually documented with the camera crew the heavy weight of fame the obligations the responsibilities the phrase was be like Mike and yes despite him flashing the pearly whites and the Gatorade commercial and ends the implication that everyone wanted to be like Mike because his life was unlike any other behind closed doors what was he talking about getting away having the followers of his hotel room not having to deal with the obligations of the responsibilities not having to deal with prying eyes and nonstop questions end what else comes with fame edit it doesn't have to be his level of fame it comes with having a public platform anyone and everyone tells you how to live your life I'm not famous not even close but the public figure that I am does yet now Michael Jordan have social media during his time but everyone wanted to tell him how to live his life I experienced that in the beginning when I first started with social media that was the most annoying part everyone giving me advice and telling me what I should do and what I should do when social media is only a snapshot of who I am and most of its because of work people assume they know you because they hear from you or because they see what you put out there on social media but as Michael Jordan said repeatedly over the course of these two episodes on Sunday night nobody knows Michael Jordan you don't spend five minutes with the guy or any guy or gal and know that person you don't know that person because you see him play basketball you don't know that person because you'll spend a few hours with them and what do you say in in in a really I think really powerful moment in which he was tired he was exhausted mentally was worn out physically he said people say they want to be like Mike for a day for a week that's not being like Michael Jordan if you really knew what it was like to be like Michael Jordan you wouldn't want to you wouldn't want this I mean that's coming from the guy who seemingly had it all but yet couldn't get away from the prying eyes and the nonstop questions and everyone weighing in about his life and telling him what to

"With both of us on something that why wouldn't you just move Scott foster to one of the series as we go again, just because a GM winds complaints. What happened that foster story was out there in February before James said he can't get called personally. It was between Clyde Drexler Joko Donald disagree disagreeing Charles Barkley. That's Charles Barkley wanted said anybody who tells you that refs? Don't have personal grudges is lying. They all have less. What? Now, you gonna start manipulating moving referees. No about look at this is a very very public one that a lot of people know about that Houston. I mean jets seven oh and seven oh and seven now. And James harden spin jacked four times in his career three times. It was an Escot Auster cream, and you know, they didn't have to cave. They could have made the change before they ever announced the referees. Because honestly, Michael yesterday, the number one trending topic on Twitter all day long with Scott foster. That's not because the rockets water. That's why. But that's not good for the game last night's not good for the league. No, the -ficiating was not a fine. It was a game where all day long people talked about the fish. Do you? Won that debate. Why do you want that to me is number one trending thing? Social anybody who's played in this league figures refuse. Don't like me. We off felt that way even guy. He's always climb files on me step back. You're not even dealing with the issue. Take a step back. If you're the league, do you want people talking about the game or do you want people talking about the official? It would have been very easy to make that switch before the officials were ever announced yesterday. And then we're talking about basketball instead of some guy named dancer. We talking about basketball was cleanly played game last night. The rotten wars didn't falling anybody's landing area and we weren't yesterday. And that's all. But how difficult guy suckers so everybody on ESPN from Stanley Smith Amax Ellerman on Twitter and Pat islands. Thousands and thousands basically everyone in the sports media or suckers Gus but in the NBA to deal with officials. I did. Yeah. I think fair number survive. The didn't he sign on here that crap a bunch of less alone. That's excuse. They don't like us. You are just not thinking. Yes. I Michael experience. How difficult would it have been when you make the referee assignments? And they're hiding behind this and saying well they were assigned two weeks ago. You know this issue exists. Put Scott fossil. Bob Mars, a certain referee. We we have a favorable gays when this guy's on today. Owen SAS both. They have something like that wanted six to. I would imagine the raise it has been fouled out four times three. This is not about basketball. It's about communications. It's about communications. It's about the media. The medium is the message. Right. It's about perception is reality yesterday the reality. The perception was that Scott foster was going to shade the game, and that became a reality for a lot of people who went on Twitter and not just a few people. I mean, it was nobody got tweeted about more yesterday than Scott foster. And when officials are doing a good job. We don't know their names. Canna warm, Michael hang around for second. Because normally it is me against the world on the subject, and we'll get into it next, Michael. And I will do the impossible try to convince Mason something, oh, we will defend rob Pelinka. Tired of Mason, guys Ason hates pulling passion. As the rabbi ram by what do you have against Arrambide? These guys all sign your paychecks. It's very. Defend our bosses that Michael take a check because you are your integrity. Take that to the Bank is what you do literally literally. Hey, Friday or you come into our fiesta Friday at Orange County in Orange County. It's right by your house in city orange. Can I get five ten minutes? It's an orange. No, it's not Michael Phelps and Eastport. Glides through the water, Clyde Drexler. Okay. I have the right answer. Go ahead. Give me your answer. It's Robertson canal. His swing way catch to you. Guys. Are I'm with Chris and not smoothest ever because he's not good enough for. But I'm with Chris on. He's smooth his swing the way last night. He's playing the Marlins he's on the Mets. Now, I don't know if you knew that he caught a pop up just the way he catches it moves into his hand. I'm telling you, the broadcasters were saying to like he can't do anything that isn't just plays in a way that makes you know, he's good in bed. Yes. Yeah. Exactly. But I mean, it probably is a little too cash considering he's Latino probably blows up in his face a lot right because of the state of affairs Jesus some nominees guys got nothing. No measure each euro each rose. A really good one is pretty smooth Ken Griffey junior. Ken Griffey was Griffey mine. I think when we found this off each other you mentioned Steph curry ambassador, someone entree appear lo who's just a beautiful. I love his game. In a talent soccer player. I kind of looked over like I didn't have much else. So I kind of looked to Billy. I dunno. I think Robinson knows a great one. I think I don't think that's been beaten yet. Maybe Griffey actually, he's really good in terms of baseball. He's pretty good. I never thought Robinson Canoas smooth. You don't watch a lot of baseball baseball people like Robertson Cano is he the due to smooth about game won't fees. Slider men tennis player. He's good on clay know, anybody. "Back to Gary and Larry Gary radnich and Larry Krueger on sixty. All right. Thanks to our audience right on top of it. Why Brian was hooking up a thorough? Bailey. Mookie Betts did not start the game. When the D H was not not utilize. So thank you to what's a seven hundred seven Larry, I'm going to guess one of our Pels. Nine oh nine. All right. Thank you two. Oh, nine very much. Hey warriors, hosting the Utah Jazz tonight report came out that Draymond green is questionable and here to talk a little bit about the game. And this guys had a rail. Interesting life. He's a singer his religious beliefs are a little different than we appreciate that. He had the biggest upset in the history of college basketball. Exactly exactly if you can guess his thorough Bailey from North Carolina State to a long career in the NBA, Utah Jazz and then finished up with three years in Minnesota thorough. Good morning. Gary, Larry, how are you guys? Hey, we're doing great. How how early is it before when you start singing? I mean, can you? I'm looking at some of your albums the gift of Christmas faith in your head. You sing early or do you have to wait raping your heart, baby? Okay. All right. I like that. And and you were you were all you sang for Valvano. You you always were a vocalist going back to your college career if I remember, right? Well, music really became really came before basketball in my life. And I've basketball was kind of a pit stop just to have a career and to pay for my college education, but I had some discussions with with Jimmy be back in the day and told them he wanted to know about every player what they love to do. And I told them music was big part of my life. He said well don't ever lose that continue to pursue. And just do it to laws though. I did it's great have Vonnas name being kept alive, especially for younger people through ES. ESPN every year. They have an opportunity for people cancer research to get involved in the us. Jim Valvano name just before we get into the jazz in the warriors, some call it the greatest upset in the history of college basketball when you guys Carolina's state, North Carolina State beat Akeem allies you on and Clyde Drexler. Do you look at as a great upset or did you think going in? Hey, we can handle these guys. Well, I think on paper it was one of the greatest upsets, especially at that time. You know when you look at the greatness of five Jalen university of Houston team would car Drexler lodge on a lot of host of other great basketball players at that time. So you know, as a team you cannot be involved in something like that. If you don't believe you can win it. And we had a guy who helped us to believe that. But collectively as a team, we we thought we could beat anybody. And so, you know, we had to have that attitude that wasn't cockiness confidence and knowing that every time we step in Florida. No matter who it was we were going to respect that team. But we weren't gonna be intimidated. So a lot of that. And some luck, you know, things have to fall your way, you know, how it is. You gotta survive in advance. And and it was a great year. So, yeah, I'm one of those things that was probably one of the greatest upsets, but as a player on that team confidence to know. That's what you play for. It was awesome to watch surviving advanced, by the way is a terrific show that they you know, where you guys got together at a bar, and you're, you know, it's years later, and there's Wittenberg, you know, yourself and Kozo McLean and the entire team of the guys who are still around. And you guys had must have a whole lot of fun making that making that survive in advance and sitting around talking about it. It was because of that part that you're describing is was really unscripted. You know, it's just a bunch of us just reminiscing about the good old days. And you know, a lot of things that people didn't know behind the scenes somebody really depicted a great a great story of the journey itself. And I urge people who haven't seen it even if they're not a big sports fan to go and watch it because it's just a great story. You know, starting from rental Charles is success. To Zimbabwe struggle with cancer and his legacy continues to to be out there with the Jimmy V foundation. So it's just a great story to watch with your family. Based on how how you know achievement can come to anyone who really really believes in themselves and their team. And so it was a great great to be a part of that whole history thorough. Bailey is our guest he works on the Utah Jazz broadcast Utah having another good year after a slow start especially for that that great backcourt performer Mitchell. Now, you guys you're rolling. Do you view it this NBA season as the warriors? You're just too good for everybody else or do you view? Hey, east playoffs could provide some interest. Well, there's no question. The warriors are all the team to be. And that they're the best arguably right now on the NBA. There's obviously some argument for Milwaukee and what they're doing on the east coast. But. No, I I don't think that you just hand them a championship. I think they're better team now with DeMarcus cousins back and playing we haven't had a chance to to see him. Against the jazz that's far this year. But listen, I don't think any team has another teams number in this league. If it could be argued that Golden State. Doc off anyone in a in a seven game series. But I think that when you look at how jazz played the warriors. You look at how Toronto is played the warriors. There could be awful something said for the fact that on a given night. Golden they might have some issues. And I think we've seen some of that there. They have a lot of talent. Sometimes they can win on talent. But other nights, you know, you have to have that an execution and everything else going for you too. So this'll be a great not a great match up between teams who are really trending upward right now. We're trying to on the line warriors go tonight against Utah and Utah's playing. Well, they won twelve of fifteen. Gold state has been getting hammered the last couple of nights on the offensive glass. They seem to almost be kind of emotionally kinda limping into the into the all-star break. But I wanted to ask you because I know the jazz talked at least at the trade deadline about trying to bring in Mike Conley to the situation, and and obviously didn't happen. How if you Ricky Rubio, how are you reading that? And is the chemistry at all changed. Because Rubio knows that they were commonly flirtations. Well, I think if you're a young player in this league it probably. It's a little bit different. When you hear trade rumors now with social media. But when you're a veteran understand how it works. You understand that you know, rumors are gonna come about, maybe even some some validation in some of those because teams are going to look teams are looking to get better. And they're looking to to see what they need to get to that next level. But if it doesn't happen. I didn't players understand that listen, I got a job to do. I've got to get out there and do my job. And I'm here with the jazz right now, regardless of what's going on. I've got chemistry with this team plan. Well, so let's go get the job done. So I think Rick rigging spine. He understands the business. Stomaching traded before. And there's enough veteran guys on the jets team to really keep everybody pulled together. And and and understand that. Hey, we all we all right now. Let's continue to to move on. All right. Thoroughly appreciate a couple of minutes. It was fun to hear from you. And I must ask you at the end here you still have that a patent on fertilizer works through sprinkler systems. Wow. You've been doing some research. Well, I just said, hey with with the computer in front of you you look for something different. And and you're hey, you're not afraid to do go your own route. I also saw if you don't mind me asking that you became Mormon LDS. Yeah. I did you know that was years ago back. Nineteen ninety five and as far as the the patent goes, I we sold that company. Oh about ten ten years ago of the great idea at the time. It was kind of unheard of to have a non toxic for live through the sprinkler system. Just sprinklers came on. So, you know, it's always good to venture out. But you know, how the hell is a basketball player figure. An and and a singer they've get into fertilizer. Yeah. You know, how those stereotypes go, man. They're not really true. Get guys. There are a lot of guys out here doing great things in their careers and away from look at what Kobe Bryant's doing right now. Other guys, you know. Stereotype, and that just the idea would fertilizer, that's all. Those those are just you know, your life after basketball fan, you get an opportunity to play a game that you really love that's ideal world with the real world is gonna make you Mark. How're you gonna leave your legacy? To your kids and the community. So I've always been kind of an entrepreneur heart. I probably say more times. But you know, I continue to do that. Because you know. You know, my kids are they're coming up or they need to understand that if you really want something you've got to be creative in Kuala workforce. Hey, we enjoyed your career. I personally enjoyed you battling Ralph Sampson back in the day. Those are some great battles. And and have a great call tonight. Thanks for stopping by this morning on Cambier. Larry.
