I really honestly feel lucky to get to work in the space for as long as i have and so it goes back to my days. My only job before. This space was at the canadian at the time unicorn nortel which is sort of a competitor. Cisco's in this back in the late nineties and Back when everything was just internet infrastructure was the big business. And i had a job. They're working on crazy low level. Ip over atm stuff. I was a programmer. I love that stuff. And i all. My friends started quitting one day and they were going across the street. And i said where you're going like this they said this cool startup nuance and i was like. Oh that sounds fun and just like you do in your early twenties. Just quit my job like literally the next day and over and got a job at this other place where all my friends were and man. That was lucky. That was just one of those life. Changing things i didn't know about conversation. We didn't even call it conversationally. I'm back that rain speech recognition.

You know to supplement my income and no dice. so twitter's also seeking users to test it's super follows feature which will allow you to charge a monthly subscription fee for extra interactivity and content and another charging option ticketed spaces or you could charge for exclusive audio content. Now what's interesting here is that the company will take a cut based on the amount of money user makes until the user makes fifty thousand dollars. Twitter's cut his three percent after that twitter fee will increase to up to twenty percents on future earnings now. These are moves. Obviously increased revenue as the platform has grown from one hundred ninety nine million to two hundred six million monetize -able daily active users or another description. That's why i think they don't have. They don't have a defensible position. Really as you know unless they add something. That is truly differentiated. That that i it literally drop in audio is just a feature. And so you've got to have something else to have sustainability. And i just think they don't have yet while first of all. I think you obviously could be right but it might be enough to have. It might be enough right now. What the half it really might be. And that's kind of what clicked inside of my head. Clubhouse could do this the same thing. Clubhouse has right now ten million weekly active users not monthly active users weekly active users. Just think for a second. How simple and straightforward it likely would be four clubhouse to flip a switch and turn each club into a podcast and then automatically distribute that podcast to all the platforms same platforms. You're listening to this on the same platforms. Your show is listed on the same. Show that those one million brand new show is from anchor showed up on now. Why did i say it. The title of the show that these would come from clubhouse. Not podcasters doesn't that by default. Make these people who are producing. These shows podcasters. Well technically yes but practically no right. They're not interested in the geeky sides of things. Most of the people creating content on anchor of those one million new shows last year really probably don't consider themselves podcasters. I've called them. Pinos in the past linked to that episode podcasters in name only and i think that's what we're gipp. If in fact clubhouse does open up the floodgates on us and allow anybody. who's in a club to automatically have those episodes published as a podcast. Now as i've said before the next wave of podcasters are going to look very different than us. Those of us started back in two thousand four. Those who started in in the office or the early double digits teens area the twenties and thirties. We'll look totally different. I've said previously. I the mobile download index is kind of stagnant. This week. We knew this would happen. We talked about it last week. How there's february dip mostly because of back to school and games of a huge impact when it comes through the index and so even though we see lots of downloads from absolutely clubhouse which will talk about in just a little bit. It's really not enough to offset. The kids are no longer downloading apps for just a little bit. We expect this deal last. Maybe another week. Or so as we get out and Get into march things will rebound and then we'll slowly climb back again now. Let's talk about apps this week. We published our list of most downloaded apps in january. And we've done that in december and also in november and the usual suspects as i call them or still here. Facebook has its quartet of apps. We're talking facebook messenger. Instagram and whatsapp in they're all in the topless now. This is a list based on downloads across the different platforms so we look downloads. On the iowa's app store downloads. On google play and then we some them all up and we look at a more global will recall overall list so facebook is in all the lists as you can imagine what's up kind of mishap in january. And i wrote about that They change terms a little bit. They scared some people off yulon. Musk through his two cents into the ring. As did edward snowden and lots of people left and moved over to signal and that's kind of the big trend that we saw in january so wild facebook and tiktok zoom or still the most downloaded apps we also see signal on the list which is kind of new. Not only that usually tiktok is the number one across the board but this month or while in january telegram managed to get just enough downloads to get ahead of tiktok There at about eight million dollar difference so sixty eight million downloads total telegram for january globally.

"Clubhouses. An all new social media platform. It's currently only on devices. And it's only in private beta the only way to get access to is to get an invite from somebody who's already on there. I got an invite. And then i got onto clubhouse and then they gave me some invites to give out to other people in my network. Now i wanna stop here and just say it's worth just trying to go through this process if somebody can give you an invite for because it gives you an understanding of what is in one way for you to launch a new product. Even if you're not going to go into software this is a good way to kind of test. The waters and do some sort of soft launch and create buzz for your product to only make access to it. Invite only even if you had to charge for it. It's worth going through the process. So what exactly is clubhouse. Well the best way to describe it is group calls around a certain topic. Some people called it like life podcasting. I don't really see as life podcasting. I actually feel like it's more like conference calls sort of like an online meeting. That's audio only and all you see is people's avatars and you see who who's not speaking. Who else is in the room. Just listening and i've been through a few rooms and it's interesting because you'll find some pretty famous people in some of these room some <hes>. Quite popular people. Like john from shark tank i. He was in one of the rooms and contributing to a conversation. So is quite interesting to see that happening already. Now what i want to mention is that strikes me as something different than another social media platforms like facebook or twitter or instagram or snapchat. because i- this idea of exclusivity meaning that you are in a room with people. This is very similar to like a group on facebook. Now they have something else called clubs which is very similar to a group. But i want you just imagine that it's a group of people any <hes>. A call the first that that struck me the most was that you're not just able to partake in the platform and produce content as easily as you would with something like instagram or facebook. Where you could just post anytime you want. You have something say you post it. You have a picture on a post. You post it you a video on upload. Your uploaded clubhouse takes some four planning. You actually have to schedule a room scheduled call you have to invite people and then once you're in the room. It's not like anybody can participate. Whenever they want. Only one person can speak at a time so you can be in a room with seven hundred people listening but one person can speak at a time so it's a very passive type of where people are mostly listening and yes people can ask questions and participate but one thing is happening at a time now. I don't think that's a bad thing. Actually think this conserve a lot of businesses in a big way because it's really conducive to groups so if for example you are a coach and you wanna do a clubhouse room once a week to answer questions for your clients. You can easily do that and you could spend you know one hour you know as answering all the questions you people could just get up and speak use audio and speak their questions. Everybody can hear it and then you can go ahead and answer via audio's well you can also see this as an alternative to like a live conference if you go to a live conference. There's a bunch of rooms people are talking. This is like a virtual you know conference with a bunch of rooms so in that regard. I think it has purpose. I do think you should sign up. Like i said to see the flow of you know doing a soft launch beta but also just reserve your username just the have it there and then you can decide later if you want to stop or taking and start some rooms and conversation i mentioned. There's something called a club and this is like a group. I would say and you can invite people to the group and you'd have to do a weekly call or weekly room to keep this alive. This is kind of a requirement that they have and in order free to start a club. You actually have to do three calls or three rooms first and then you can apply to open up a club and then within a club you can create civil rooms and you could see these is like threads inside of a group or a group chat so then a nutshell is. We'll clubhouses all about now. Like i said you can use in your business. If you all your clients are on clubhouse and then you can go ahead and create a group and do some qna. You can do a workshop again. This is audio only. You can have an open. Discussion heck even have an open discussion with family members. If you want to do something outside of business like a family reunion but the point here is that this is not going to be really viable until it's available to everybody and on iowa's an android but you can get started used to the app now. There's no <hes>. For you to read down your thoughts. It's all audio and to be a hundred percent honest. I'm actually a little bit skeptical about how this will actually help other businesses. Is that it really hits a lot of important points number one a lot of pre production planning on a podcast to make tight so that you're getting only the important information when you're listening
