"Welcome back, Donna and Steve on my talk One of 71 everything. Entertainment producer John McClane also hanging with us for this last segment of the hour. If you see something, say something. Oh, that is catchy, huh? Continue time for if you see something, say something with Donna and Steve, If you see something, Say something Come on, and party tonight painting, dude. Hey, do that. Do you guys are on the body? No budding. No when we come back from break down and let's do this hind story. Okay. Hey, everybody. We're back. Welcome back, everybody. Hey, you know what I want to tell you about? No. What's that Steve story about Hinds Heinz Like the catch. You know the ketchup company by the way, headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Where I grew up. Thanks for never asking about all of this work. Oh, yeah, anyways Heinz Canada, who knew they had one Just launched a petition because they saw something, and they said this must change. They went to change dot org to force companies to sell hot dogs and hot dog buns. In equal amounts. Amen to that. Let your brother preach. Hey, have you do you remember this? This scene from Steve Martin and your favorite movie? Father of the bride. Do you remember it? Steve? Are you going to play the scene? Are you just asking me? What is this moment I pulled up. I have a hot Heinz hot dog pack. Oh, you do that. Okay. I had to ST Maarten Cloquet, complaining about the babies complain about the hot texts about the bombs and the hot dogs and he gets really mad. Well, here's the thing. Here's why Heinz Canada is met. Because hot dogs tend to come in 10 packs. The buns usually come in eight packs, and they think 10 should be the new standard. For both now. For what it's worth. There is a reason behind the mismatch Hot dog company started selling them in 10 packs in the 19 forties. Just because it's a nice round number. Consumers like no, and they were getting 10. But Bun companies sell eight packs because the standard pan that they've always baked them in fits four funds, Paro Mm. These days. They also have pants that fit five, though, So there is reason for this change to finally happen. So you grab a pack of hot dogs. Okay, you grab a pack of buns, and it's the perfect match. Awesome. I love it. Here's the scene. The hot dogs are sold in packages of 10. While there are eight months to one back, What am I gonna do with true leftover does make it make sense? Make it make sense to me. I want the number of dogs in the gun. Will be the It's not remember that one for father of the bride right After further the bride. It's under stupid news. This is also under stupid news. Hot dog tax. You know, Donna, I'm sorry to think you're making this up because only video that I see in there. Maybe we're looking at.

"So you haven't out from that horrible comments you made about people who cut hair. And yet you're just continuing to dig your way further down into the ground, Like some sort of Go for it, but she wasn't a she didn't pass studio. Fancy stuff. He just cut hair. It's okay. She she's obviously missed out. She's obviously worse off of the two of you close with her live in the Bahamas and you Sitting on top of your mountain of hoarded ketchup packets. By the way, Dad during the brace sauce. Oh, yeah. Oh, dude, I don't know if you saw during the breakdown. I was walking with clothes to the break room and There's a pile of ketchup packets in the break room on the counter there. I saw you saw those. I saw those yesterday. I I saw those yesterday and I thought about club. I wondered. Is he going to snatch these? What's I just left him? He's I them today. Yeah, but I'm unsure about the big of the ketchup shortage right now, look again upon catch reporting. I've got about 40 in my junk door right now, and you realize that's not enough. I know. What club? Did you realize? Not enough? There's no actual like you no immediate need to hoard ketchup. Well, I was just going by what the news said. But I mean, the news was saying that you know there might be something or other There's a shortage on Porta Potties right now, to be kind of hard. Those I can't fit it in the car on, actually, Now that I think about it, I saw those I saw those ketchup packets, uh, in the break room like a week ago. You like practicing some sort of like self control thing close, so the deal is I realized that I can't get us much money for them As I thought I was, I see. So you've decided to divest in ketchup packets and instead of taking your profits and ketchup packets and putting them into what Chick fil A saw stock. Is that still a deal too? I don't know. I've never had an issue getting it. Haven't either. I think at this point, though, I think there's basically a shortage of almost anything. So if if you need something, go ahead and buy whatever amount of it that you can now because their supply chains shortages everywhere. So Like if you need a bolt, get get get to bolt, if you need, you know, a chick fil a packet. They may only give you one per your orders, I think is what we read last week. But if you ask for another one, they'll probably still give it to you. One of the new things this makeup isn't a shortage, I think well, yeah. Yes, we went from having essentially her. It was like a White house economic something or other advisor yesterday, said Overnight, we went from having a shortage of masks and a surplus of make up to now the opposite. Now we have a surplus of masks and a shortage makeup. That's just the sort of funky nature of the market. Even so, it was it was Right there. Was watching on the Today show yesterday, their financial expert was saying a lot of that same stuff, saying, because you have all these people that are now about to go back into the workplace. So Now. Ah, clothing prices are are going up because people need new clothes to go back to the office, especially because some of those people look a little bit different than they did You know, year too, you know, 14 months ago. Maybe they're thinner. Most of them were bigger, so they need new clothes that actually fit to go back to the office. Plus all the other stuff that goes along with it. Like Makeup, hair supplies all that kind of stuff, grooming kit type things. I understand that thing about in your car where you have to actually go out and, you know, get your oil change your tires rotated because he's been sitting in the garage for a while. That doesn't make any sense to me about grooming kits and stuff like that. Like what did you throw away? Your nail clippers assumes the virus hit Is that what's going on here is like I don't need these anymore. They just threw him off the balcony and just let them rust or something. I don't know. It's look, I don't get some of this stuff, and none of us do because Because here in North Texas, we didn't have some of those strict lockdown measures that other states and other cities had help. Remember back. Remember back to Europe? When they were having their balcony concerts because they all live in these small apartments that are like 67 stories tall and they live in the small apartment, and the guy gets out there this piano and serenades everybody else from their balconies. And they did that for like 23 months. Meanwhile, in Texas, it's like, Dude, we got alcohol to go. Yeah, you're not going to work, but you can still go places. So for us, it's kind of hard to wrap our brains around some of this stuff. E thinking, yeah, with alcohol. I think it's funny because the state of Texas who was abbot, the governor, then He's been the governor, like five years. Cloquet anyway, it's quite awhile. Did any liquor store closed down during the pandemic? No liquor sales went through the man. Liquor stores were booming at the beginning of the pandemic. God knows I was one of I was helping because I didn't know Because of the uncertainty. I didn't know how long you know we were going to be on lockdown. So I still remember that first trip to Goody Goody. I went and got. I think it was four bottles of whisky. Three bottles of vodka, a couple of bottles of screwball. And and mixers and just anything else that I think we might need just just in case. It was in short supply in like a month. That way, I had more than enough to get us through a long stretch of time. Yeah, because things were still kind of escalating, and usually I could walk into the liquor store. And even though it's kind of uncomfortable, I can put it all in my hands. I go right.

"Yeah, we'll say Peek in the toilet. Christie. I think that's I think that's a pretty common fear. I don't think that's that weird. No, I don't. I think people have heard of other people who are afraid that something might climb up. I've never thought about that before, but siblings much me for years. Every time I go to the bathroom, they had friends over there like watcher. I think it's where that when you when you go to the bathroom here, you still run out with no pants half down and stuff because you're afraid something might reach up and grab you. Yeah, I'm sure to be safe. You know, It's weird, you know, but it's fine. It's a mating call, If anything, really Mating home. I do that here. Yeah, I know You don't want to do that here. No, but it's also nobody in the building either. So it's no wonder it's not working is the only place I go besides a grocery store, and that's not working out for me. Yeah. Nana told me not to sit down and flash because my privates would go down. Stop it. Yeah, She's just gonna give up. She said she knew a woman on a cruise who had happened to you. And now that I'm thinking of it that never happens. That never happened. That's horrifying. What would she tell you as a child? Oh, yeah, that's horrifying. Yeah, she would scare the crap out of me. I don't know why I think she's got a little chuckle out of it. But, yeah, I don't think that ever happened. It was a fake. Pretty sure that's Yeah. You have to be hanging down pretty low for that. Could be a real issue. You have a real medical issue that I would recommend a physician. Yeah, among other things, anyway. Sources say that four members of the band Geri Ginger Spice, Sporty Spice Smell, See Mel be scary. Who's my favorite? And baby? I'm a Buntin know posh, though Obviously, she's too good for them have approached a screenwriter about devising a follow up to their 97. Iconic film. The movie is to help mark the group's 25th anniversary next year. More to check out online today. Britney Spears Jason Did you see her latest post her instagram compared to spin again? Anything okay, but it's a very long post. If you want to see that. Also, Polina wants me to let you know that bad bunny did a spread for W magazine. And that's on Fred's show radio dot com. This is something I never thought about before. But you know, I went last week we were off. And I went to. Ah, Venture north and Duluth. Technically cloak. It's called Cloquet outside of Duluth is right. Went to the airport where I got my flight instructor rating, So I'm already a pilot. And I have a commercial rating in an instrument rating and a multi engine rating and a seaplane rating and a god aerating and then I wouldn't get my instructor, right? I have about 1400 hours of flying 1500 is the minimum to go to the airlines. Um, it took me 20 years to get it, but anyway So I'm not Completely in experience, But I getting becoming an instructor means that you fly from the other side of the airplane flying a different seat. Now you're teaching somebody as opposed to. So it's not really so much. I learned how to fly. I learned how to Teach somebody And then they obviously dig into like a deeper level on the material that you're supposed to know, because in the FAA guy sits there for four hours, and he's asking you questions. Could you gotta be able to answer Because you're not? You're teaching somebody how to fly. Now I consign somebody, and they can go fly by themselves that get a license with bacon solo, so they didn't want to make sure you kind of know what you're talking about. So I put that on social media. They're excited about it. And our old friend Joe Joe, Show Cougar bait as you may remember him. Another one of the illustrious members of the internship program here on the Fred Show, and of Previously the friend Nancy Radio broadcast, Eh? So he decides to go on the radio yesterday. And he's concerned. About That and says that he doesn't want to be my first student. Listen to this talk about one of our friends. This is by the way, I'm loving family of the show. He was a mentor of mine Ashes Cougar bait and now known as Joe. The Joe Show on F L Z in Tampa has his own morning show. No highly rated. I hear he's number one by a mile already took like five seconds with actually next, Who's Actually Nick used to be on with? And then that guy Jeff presented with a Jeff He's tremendous. He's really doing a great job as the producer there got some weird going on. No, I think just really good night like Jeff a lot. Anyway. Cougar Bacon, Actually, next shout out. Those are our friends. We share them on here. He still is a mentor of mine. He does radio in Chicago. His name is Fred and Ashley. Did you see what he's been doing lately? No. And I love him. I love him more than anything, and I can't say it enough. This guy is a mentor of mine. I would not be where I'm at without him. That being said. It's tough to look at it and not laugh and also go. Oh, so credit is a pilot. Actually, there's something incredible he will fly because Chicago and I might be saying this wrong, but from what I'm pretty positive is So Chicago specifically is like a no kill city and with dogs in the pound, they will rescue them and bring them to the city. Now Fred will fly. He flies to different states picks up dogs and brings him back. So he's a pilot. Right? Caleb Center with me, Fred, Um, is now a teacher. He teaches people how to fly a flight instructor. Amazing Final Island. He's been flying for a long time. Now. This is where I started to laugh. And I'm Michael. Yes, now being An instructor. You have to have your first class. You teach the first person right? So he's been posting a lot. Hey, this is my first student were up in the air. Hey, this is my first student. We're about to land. Hey, were my first student Bubba Bubba walk. You imagine being that guy? Look at this, dude. First of all, I have never had a student because the instructor was my student..

Let me double check. Is it three years at four. is there nine episodes. I thought there was only eight. They were doing the so they were doing. The heart ache at disney. Plus you know according to my list. It's nine oh wow so four more episodes of the new four this. It's the mid season At our mid-sized to taylor. But i guess technically this is the midseason cloquet evenly divided nine so yet either. Four or five midseason. Yeah annual They've got to get us excited. And they got us excited today. you have a theory there. So let us year phillips theory and then we'll talk about what it's at i. Oh no no no. I am so convinced. I would go on record. Friday february fifth. Eight nineteen pm. I willing to give it the old mark. My words who. Let's see what your theory is before. Explain why it's wrong. Agnes is behind this whole thing. She's manipulating the because all right. Let's all right rear ever reasons. Remember relying on comic books. They liked to our house. I'm using no calling folks. I'm using only what i've seen on this show again. I don't know who agnes is if it's agatha or someone else but it all comes out of one vision this episode said. Oh yeah agatha agnes seems to always turn up the push the plot forward which she does all the way back from episode one when she brought the dinner for visions boss who almost choked to death on. It was agnes testing now. Want to see her control with complete the see if she would just let someone die in front of her. I don't know at night. I it gets better. It gets better. Okay okay keep it look. Everyone has a theory. Now at the so too i i mean i don't know if the If the talent show was a test or something. I don't know but i mean look at these neighbors. The neighbors come and go agnes. The best friend is always the constant out of all those people more than the next door neighbor that is of honor in the in the hierarchy of us economy a- and we never see the husbands. I've never seen routes no. It doesn't hurt doesn't herb next. But we don't see him every episode. Herb does live next door now. Which is interesting. I don't think he did originally. But agnes all no matter what changes occurred. She's always the next door neighbor issues. She is Not denying that see. Here's the thing and it's the same thing when people wanna say wanders in charge. I don't think one is in charge. I don't think this is exactly. That's what i'm saying you say. Don't rely on the comic books. I think they're cat. The raiders are counting on the people. Who are the comics. Say oh well. She's flipped out in the connex. That's what happen here no. I think they're using that as a big red herring yet. See my my my take on. It is that agnes is aware agnes is. Here's a area. Hey wait wait wait wait let me know and let's keep going. Reo got more. Get more the so you got to keep on going. Let let me criticize until you until you're done. Episode three agnes is hanging out outside the whole time. When monica is getting closed the wanda she the want did she have won the thrower out. I don't know Episode four point one episode for Oh they identified. All those towns people except for agnes. They do not know who she is. Identify everyone else. I don't daddy either. But that's okay. I don't know but our Much her since episode to have we know we haven't aright although what was daddy's line in that how does a housewife get a blood out of Out of linen. She does it herself. I guess i'll have to do it myself in this episode. Spoilers kids agatha agnes out outfits the whole plot or just part of it once those kids and she wants aged up to the first age up in this episode is when agnes comes over and they are then to attempt another age up by. Oh does puppy come from look agnes showed up right as the puppy shows up with a We know with a with a little dog house or whatever it was and then who finds the dog when it's when it's supposedly accidentally dies. Agnes because she wanted to upset those kids sue. They aged up again. Because we want to even says. Don't you ate up again okay. "Uh, this is the part of the show where we tell you two things that we are obsessed with in the top two an hour to give him the old 11212. And now the weekly dish presents top Tonto top to pick your best two in our to give me two with him with him with Okay. All right. Things were obsessed with. You Want me to go first? Yes, I would step. Okay. Um, First thing I'm gonna tell you about is something called lob Nay or La Vina. Happen that I don't want to get the wrong but is basically if you've heard of love Naina l A B N E. H, And it's basically what S so I started getting kind of a curious about it. When I got the Turkish bagels from Cafe Syriza. You know those beautiful sesame seed covered things and they come with LaDonna and I was like What is it was like a cream cheese, and I thought And so I started making it at home. Cause it's delicious. It's lighter than cream cheese, and it's got a little bit of a tang. And it's just kind of I don't know. I'm very excited by it. I can't wait to see how I change it up and use it. But basically what we're talking about here, kids. Two cups of whole milk or 2% green Greek yogurt, which I have in my French and then a little bit of salt. That's it, That's all you need. And then you wrap it up in your cheesecloth and you put it in your stranger, and you let it sit in your fridge for a couple of days and drain all the liquids and you kind of squeeze it. And that's It's basically that and like draining the liquid out of it. And then what you're left with is sort of this lovely spread about soft, tangy cheese, huh? I know that I am making I'm a cucumber, yogurt, cilantro mint salad? Yeah, like Probably once week. Yeah, I've just been eating Greek yogurt like I've been putting it, but I've always loved it Savory. So like, yeah, that's the thing is, I often put like oregano or garlic into it. And then you know, put that on top of I've just been using in his yogurt. And so I love the idea. This is being a little bit easier. And then Bone appetit had this great article that was like 13 ways. You know, to use blob to pee and chard with poached eggs. Yes, I mean, spreading it on toast is a big thing, And that's what I've been doing it but they're like using it as like a cheese spread on crackers. You can like you's preserve Levens in it, and One of the other recipes has it where You. You kind of roll it into balls after it's kind of firm because it's gonna have that go cheesy sort of texture. After you drink all the moisture and then you roll it into like a ball, and then you submerge it in olive oil with lemon and herbs. And then it becomes this sort of like Herb preserved cheese. I loved it. I'm super excited by it. And then, like, also as a base, sort of like, you know, like, you know, like the Hamas Bowls. People put a swash of you miss, if you can put like a little kind of swath of this stuff. And then, um, and then put on your veg. Or maybe you're I was thinking about this pork shoulder I'm doing today. I might make a bowl with like a little love, Nana and then a little Farrell. Yes, Yes, exactly. Actually have some parsley, cilantro, little Urbi salad. All right, I have. I was singing purple rice in this pretty. I'm mixing it all up so Anyway, That's a little thing. It's easy to do, and it doesn't. It's inexpensive if you think about it, because it's just Greek yogurt and salt, and this just takes a little time. And I just like, give you a new fresh ingredient to use this winter. I'm gonna try this lab now. Okay? This would go well with your lab. Next to it is bass pass salsa. How it is a product that is made in the twin cities. It is a compliment to things like, Samo says, or non. It is a salsa that's made with jalapenos, cilantro, onions and lemon. And Hoyo Foods makes it's It's Molly owned food company. Yes, and I had it probably the first time about three years ago, and I had it with the Simone or the Sambu says that they sell in the frozen section. Yeah, and I was like, Okay, this is a frozen sam Busa. But what is this? Like? I just loved it. And then I saw it at the grocery store recently and I bought it. And I really like the taste of cilantro, and it's a salsa, but it's sort of thicker. So I've been using it to mix into like yogurt as a salad. And then putting cucumbers and other cilantro in there is a garnish. Yes, we used it. A Z a white being chili base. That sounds good. That sounds really good. It's just really delicious. It's called Boss Boss, B. A. S. B. A S and it's made by Somali women in the Twin cities. I love it. I love it. That spot's as mass. How do you spell it? B A S B A s passed bad mess Mass. Okay, Um All right. So the second thing I'm gonna have is that I have been a little personal journey. Um Here's some personal news, which is, you know my favorite entry. Uh, some personal news on Twitter. No, it's not really personal news. You guys It's basically I've been drinking a lot of bubbles in January, because I don't I've just sort of been feeling like You know, we go through the holidays and we drink all these bubbles, and we don't think about it because we're just partying and I at the end of January or at the beginning of January, I bought a whole bunch of bottles of bubbles. I don't know why. And I just was like, Why not my answer? Exactly. But I mean, I'm just by myself, which is dangerous territory for me, right? Because it's harder because I mean red wine. I can make that bottle last for like, you know what I mean? But like bubbles, you start to lose. And the pressure my God to use your bubbles. You put the fork in it upside down. No, I haven't had a spectacular bubble keeper. Okay? I want to know where that is. Yes, well, mine was a gift from it was a move. It's like a move. Cloquet, you know, click. Oh, top, but they're available. So what I'll do is I will find one that people can buy matches up to it because it just is literally like a little stopper, and then it hooks. You snap it down so that it hooks onto the lip of the bottle so that it keeps its seals it. There are no bubbles getting out, Okay, because I think if I had that I would drink champagne more often, because I'm alone. My husband doesn't drink. It's that's my point, so that we're in the same boat. So here's the thing that I've been drinking, though. I have not been drinking champagne, and when I say bubbles, it's interesting because I've been drinking pet that what was a petting that you've been talking about this on your instagram? I'm like, What is pet man? I was hoping people would actually go look it up Honestly, because come on. It's a lot of work. Now. I wrote an article years ago, actually two years ago about the rise of pet nut and what it is his petulant Natural, which is that's this French term and it's basically it's kind of describing yourself. It is a little bit. I am a little bit petulant and natural. Sure, I am, but I feel like I feel maybe that's why it's January for bubbles. But basically you have to remember that this is just a sparkling wine. It's a more natural process than champagne. If you want to break it down, it's pet net is a wine that they bottle during initial fermentation and the sugars from the grapes provide the bubbles. So most campaigns are. You know, they have a secondary fermentation that gives the bubbles and then they bought them after that. And this one is, um this one is the byproducts of this process. Um, it's it's the bubbles Come naturally. So is it less bubbly or smaller bubble or and this is the thing. It's kind of. It's kind of Ah, dice throw because it's everybody has different processes. There's different here. Why there's different mixes asshole sorts of things. But so basically, you're kind of agreeing to crack into a bottle. That is a little bit. It could be funky and it is maybe not as like refined, you know, there might be some sediment and stuff. I have just been enjoying trying them, and I have to tell you that lakeside wines, which is my local liquor store out in long leg. They also own Lowry Hill liquors in uptown, if that's easier for people to get to, but they have just been stalking him..

S government from enforcing a 100 Day deportation moratorium that is the key immigration priority of President Biden. U. S District Judge Drew Tipton issued a temporary restraining order sought by Texas, which sued on Friday against the Department of Homeland Security memo that instructed immigration agencies to pause most deportations. Judge Tipton said the Biden administration had failed to provide any concrete reasonable justification for a 100 day. Pause on deportations. The judge's order is an early blow to the Biden administration, which has proposed far reaching changes sought by immigration advocates, including a plan to legalize An estimated 11 million immigrants living in the US without documents, Biden promised during his campaign to issue the moratorium on immediate deportations. He already represents a victory for text. This is Republican leaders who often sued to stop programs enacted by Biden's Democratic predecessor, President Barack Obama. It also showed that just his Democratic led states and immigration groups fought former president Trump over immigration in court often successfully, So, too. Will Republicans fight with Biden in office? While Tipton's order bars enforcement of a moratorium for 14 days, it does not require deportations to resume at their previous pace. Immigration agencies typically have A wide latitude in processing cake cases and scheduling removal flights. The White House issued a statement saying the moratorium was wholly appropriate and response to his court victory. Excesses. Attorney Extend tweeted victory and described the deportation moratorium as a seditious left wing insurrection. An apparent reference to the January 6th deadly assault on the U. S Capitol by Trump's supporters trying to overturn the results of the presidential election. Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, Democratic lawmakers are introducing a bill. They say We'll root out racism in the nation's immigration system, ending mass deportations and preventing other practices like Sam family separations and the criminalization of migration. Supporters of the New Way Forward Act say it will And The immigration to deportation system and challenge systemic racism in immigration laws. Because two for Martinez reports a group of progressive Democratic lawmakers has re introduced a bill aimed at de criminalizing immigration and dismantling what they call systemic racism in the immigration and criminal justice systems. Democratic representative Jesus too weak. Garcia of Illinois is the author of the New Way Forward Act, He says President Joe Biden's immigration related executive orders and proposed legislation mark a positive first step. But that is only the beginning of what he calls needed Repairs. These last four years has tested us. But the truth is that our immigration system was broken Long before Trump stepped into office. The Trump administration shocking abuses shook us and expose serious existing injustices embedded In our immigration and criminal legal systems, Garcia says. Structural racism is intentional and has been codified into law. Reversing this damage requires us to do the same. It's time that we had the doctrine of criminalizing desperation in America, and we chart a new way forward. The New Way Forward Act has 39 co sponsors in Congress, including representatives Karen Bass of California. Ayanna Presley of Massachusetts and Pamela J. A Pall of Washington. Gioia Paul, the chair of the Legislative Progressive Caucus, is one of 14 naturalized citizens in Congress. She says. It's a relief that Donald Trump is no longer president. But now it's time to deliver humane immigration reform, including the New Way Forward Act. This legislation helps us achieve exactly that by restoring due process to immigrants, ending detention without bail separating policing from immigration enforcement. An outright repealing laws that make migration which is so essential as a remedy for the injustices and inequality around the world. We need to repeal laws that make migration a crime. The act includes provisions that would end the use of for profit immigrant detention centers and stop the use of local police to enforce immigration laws. Other provisions are aimed at ending family separations and ending mass incarceration of immigrants. Representative I honor Presley says to build is timely on the heels of the last election that rejected what she calls the cruelty and callousness off the last four years and make no mistake. Continue to find ourselves in the midst of a national reckoning was systemic racism and racial justice. As representative giant Paul in, Garcia both pointed out Um, and as the title of our bill indicates, we cannot recover to an unjust Pre cove it pre trump status quo normal that status quo. Normal was unjust, insufficient and inadequate. To begin with. This is the time to quite literally chart a new way forward, she says. Both changes needed to undo decades of harm. For too long. Our immigration and criminal legal systems have been deeply and fundamentally intertwined. Have contributed to our innovations, mass incarceration crisis, which is separated families and destroyed communities for generations. Today. The United States oversees the largest immigration detention system in the world, and as a result, we now spend more resource is on the criminalization of immigrants than any other. Then all other enforcement agencies combined, the lawmakers say, Fell formally introduce the New Way Forward Act in Congress Wednesday they'd author Garcia says the bill has been called radical. But he disagrees. But the truth is that de criminalizing immigration is not a radical concept at all. What's radical is caging school age Children that even old enough to know their parents names. What's radical is detaining thousands of refugees and dangerous conditions of squalor. We're simply asking for fair treatment for our immigration in our immigration system. "I think that first year like I said was, it was kind of reality Check and then No, you learn from your guys and you kind of figure out the game and figure out how to find success that the higher level you gotta think of a quicker and Use your body and better ways, but Yeah. And then, uh, after I played three years of juniors, which is a smart as you can pretty much play, so I think personally, that was the best thing that could happen to me because I'm obviously I'm not the biggest guy either. Um, so as much weight as not even so much getting stronger, but I think it's more so just like figure out how to use your smaller frame and kind of avoiding getting banged around as much as possible. But then Ah, no. Those three years definitely help it on making the jump to college. Ah, there's definitely another jump for sure. But Um, it's I don't know, like we have a great senior class and great leaders on the team and the coach has been great. It's been, um obviously have toe you kinda have to grow up quick, especially with shorter season and you kind of got a mature quicker on the ice. But I don't know. It's it's been fun so far. Did you get many offers besides, Air force now is actually my first one. Yeah. Did you know much about Air Force hockey. A little bit. I remember when I was little. I washed them. They think they can play that play the golfers one Christmas a long time ago. Remember watching? Yeah, that was kind of my first taste and then I mean, I always I always admired the military. My dad served in the Army. My grandparents served. So I was kind of myrrh that I never really personally. I kind of pictured at me in the military. But then as I got toward juniors, and then I ended up going with the car out on a visit. I kind of fell in love with the place and Yeah. Uh, yeah. Seal the deal. Yeah. Elk River, Minnesota. You know what? We were bragging up, Cloquet. There's been a few good players. Come on, AL. Cover Minnesota. To who name a couple of them. See you got Paul Martin Giotto. Dan High note those There's not bad, not bad job I played with Jolanda White Bemidji. That's my senior year was Jules freshman He came in, and he was like a newborn called big, tall, but you could tell there was something there, man. You could tell. He was a great young, great guy. And he just like you could just tell there was something there. You know, back in those days had Joel Otto. What Junior? A hockey was this big then? That he got a junior hockey. No, he would have been. He would have been a goal for our a badger or somebody like that. After Ah, year because he developed fast, huh? But tell us about you. You know how you Whether the storm here from from June all the way through December. Um, honestly, I think the biggest health for me it was tough, I think. The nine other freshman. I mean, it feels like I've known these guys for years Now you're coming after you go through basic training and kind of the last couple months. It's brings you tight as a group and then obviously like my parents and Family and friends have been great and stuff, but no, I think I think I'm speaking for all three of us. I think the hardest part personally with school We've been out of school for quite a bit so Yeah, You got to kind of figure out how to learn, Learn again and then No one's ever meant off with this the last couple weeks going home seeing the family and that was awesome. And now it's It's good to be back and kind of get after the second half. Tell us about your goal he have. We talked a little bit about it. Eyes, kinds of fortune about those. Ah, the guys. Other guys were kind of snapping around, and then they got a pox on that, and it bounced off the walls. That's the one that came off the back wall, I think was really shot. Yeah, yeah, It's just kind of unfortunate bounce that landed on my tape right in front and then Yeah, I was kind of a gift. You know what? It's unfortunate bounce, but you were in the right place. Yeah. You know, too many guys are in the wrong place and guys like you. You have a great feel for the game. You have great instincts. And, you know, guys like you always just seemed to be in the right place at the right time. And and you know, that was your first goal, but I'll guarantee it ain't gonna be your last goal. There could be a lot of I know we're happy to have you all you're doing. Fantastic job for you for us. Like I said, one of the men I went, Watch aside Plague. Oh, this kid gets that He's smart and know you aren't the biggest guy in the world and be a as in the biggest guy in the world. But you guys, you got big hearts and your great teammates and And you love that. There's nothing more that you love them playing hockey, and I could see that in your face. I can see that in your eyes. When you guys are on the ice. You got a chance to get a little bigger, Good..

I'm gonna ask. I'm an asshole. Arnie is Elk River. More city, or is it more North Moor Northern or is it more city more city? Do you think so? On down around the twin cities? It's about 45 minutes north west of Minneapolis. Yeah, Okay. You know what? The border you know what I think? Don't like when I watched Alka River play hockey. You play your style of play and just the kids. They're more blue collar than the city slickers. And you guys are I think you play more of a northern Minnesota brand of hockey. Then you do a city style personally. Is that a fair statement? Yeah, yeah, that's true. And you like your dad's from Brainerd, right? Yeah. I mean, so like Brainard ain't the city. I've been to Brainerd. You know, we're Brander Do yes. Yes. And And you've got The way you play like you're you are. You're a little rank rat. I mean, like you have fantastic instincts. Um, like you've got great hockey sense. Like that's that's not something that You know that, like just comes naturally It comes from years off, playing on the ponds and playing free and and, uh, and again like he you play hockey like a northern Minnesota rank rat and that and that, and that's a Old school. You know what I like. I like no, I sure don't want to say, you know, put say he's chucked Alice. But like he's one of like one of those kind of guys. I mean, one of those noise and we haven't had Many northern kids on our team. We've had some kids from or head. We had Spanky letter from Elk River. Um, we've had a couple kids from Duluth. But we haven't had many Northern Minnesota kids, but we got a northern Minnesota rank rat on our team right now, and you can see these always in the right place at the right time. He knows where to put pox. You know, place box the goals that he scored right place at the right time. How about that about that shootout goal that he scored yesterday? Yeah, keep to shoot up. It was big time. But I remember going to watch and Nate, uh, play with the wilderness, And you think it's cold in? Uh you think it was cold in here? Remember? I like I was that fucking drinking. Cloquet is a nice pot. You could hang meat in that place. I remember cracked. I couldn't wait. For the For the periods the and sometimes so I could run in the hospitality room and get something to eat warm up for the next period. But how is that for you? Did you enjoy going up to cloak a cloak ain't a whole lot different than Elk River, is it? No, it's a pretty similar. I love coke capital of the world. This was the team was awesome to me. I think On the juniors from high school is definitely a big jump. It's kind of reality. Check my first year I got injured right away. Got scraps quite a bit. It was. It was kind of Ah. No, my I still like what hockey really is outside of the high school hockey bubble. And then I think it kind of makes you wanna work all the harder and then the next next two years, I found a little more success and then Um, but, yeah, I know. Over the those three years were great to me. Um, you go into Cloquet, who are who are the two greatest hockey players ever to come out of Cloquet? Minnesota. Wasn't Corey Millen. One of them Corey Melon. Good job. Birdman, Who's the other one drunk? Who's the other one? Who's the other one? Who knows? They have me in the ring. He knows my brother Jiang, Jamie Langenbrunner. Okay, That's not good. Old northern Minnesota rink rap stars that made it all the way. You know what You know, like you know what? I horny? We have to throw Derek Plante in there, too. Oh, yeah. No. Yeah. No great little hockey tone Cloak a great little hockey town. But, uh, his journey would be a little bit more simpler because he grew up in a Minnesota. You grow up in your town. You play in your town all the way up where we're be a jumped around shit. He went to Chicago for a year, You know, And, uh, where his deals a little bit different, and he didn't leave home and tell already didn't leave home until the, uh went and played juniors. But tell us a little bit about The jump from junior high school to junior hockey and then from junior hockey to college hockey. Yeah, no High school high school was awesome. We had some good teams. I play some Some of my best friends are playing some big time hockey. Now, as it was, it's fun to watch that. But I go to Junior's is definitely an adjustment..
