"You're doing all right? Yeah, no, I'm good. I've had my three month observation for both cancers and I'm cancer free. I start back in January but what do they call those maintenance treatments? So I'll go back in and do more treatments, but thank God. I'm celebrating Christmas with my family. Cancer free. And that would have been hard to say a year ago, you know what I mean? Well, bless you for that term. Bless you on that. And I will see you at the Super Bowl. I will see you there. You got it, buddy. You take care. Okay, rich. Same to you. The great Terry Bradshaw right here. That's the one and only. Right there. Love those stories, man. Yeah. Also, the craziest part about all those stories, Terry Bradshaw, calling his own plays. Like, could you imagine? You don't have to wait till the press box. And NFL quarter. Brad, I wanted that today. Okay, okay, frankel. Can't wait till when I see cliff Harris next time with the Hall of Fame. Ask him about that moment. Oops. Man. On this day to hear from Terry Bradshaw. I am so honored to have this opportunity to bring it to anybody who's watching or listening out there. Really? I know he's been in and out of the spots, but the fact that to get him to driving around for him driving around and saying, oh, okay, I'll do it. That's great. I didn't even know we were getting him until about an hour ago. I mean, and again, he's flat on his back and he's here in cheers and he's just like, oh yeah. I'm the man. I had frenchie in stride and he's gone. I was like 12,000. Also, Terry, we made 30 grand and 1972. Yeah, that was probably a lot of money back then. Yep. Yep. Yeah. I had to pry it out of the Rooney wallet. And like I said, growing up where I grew up, those guys, even though they were pretty much retired by the time I couldn't remember anything about sports. Your entire life when you grew up in Pennsylvania, especially around older people, those guys are just iconic and legendary and just to be for me to be at my age now and just be able to be like, wait, I'm sitting on the show with Terry Bradshaw's calling. And I know they have their own baffling. And I know they have their own private lives, but wouldn't you have just loved to have a microphone and a camera on the bradshaws and the Harris is having an Italian meal two weeks ago. Italian dinner in Pittsburgh. Yeah. That would have been fun. I can't wait to get to Pittsburgh and chat with everybody there and meet them and see them just remember the life and times of Franco Harris. We will do on NFL network on Saturday night. "Live show is over every single day. We're on the air live from 12 to three Eastern Time and I came on the air talking about my recollections of Franco Harris and the times that I got to a chance to meet him be with him talk with him and of course being a fan of the NFL and remembering the immaculate reception. Recalling the immaculate reception. And how the Steelers have come to be based on that and with Franco and the rest of his Hall of Fame teammates. And also on this program, as soon as it's over, I'm heading off to Pittsburgh to call the game on Saturday night on NFL network and it's now going to be a remembrance, as well as a celebration. And joining us kind enough to join us on this on this day is the man who threw the ball that wound up in the hands of Franco Harris and is one of my favorite people. And America's favorite people quite frankly pro football Hall of Famer and of course NFL on Fox. Terry Bradshaw here on the rich Eisenhower Mercedes Benz van's phone line. How are you doing, Terry? Hey, rich, how you doing, buddy? I mean, obviously caught off guard and I am so overwhelmed with grief. I'd love to just give you the floor and tell us how you're feeling right now. Well, I just was with Franco two weeks ago filming a reception. And that tea and we had so much fun. The night before we filmed, he and Dana and Tammy and I, we all went to great Italian restaurant. We had some great wine. We had some great stories. We have, as we always did when we were together, we had so much fun laughing and kind of picking at one another and it was just a great evening. We filmed all day the next day and laughed and cut up again. As we always do, and then all of a sudden at 3 a.m. this morning, you get notification that he passed away and you just, you know, you just try to put it, you try to put it in perspective, wait a minute, Friday is a celebration of the 50th year of the macula reception. Pittsburgh is going to go back and relive this. Some of the Raiders are coming in for it. 50 years later, there's got to be a healing somehow. I don't think John Matt never got over, but that's unfortunate, but Saturday you just alluded to the fact you're going to be covering the game and have time is numbers been retired. He would be only the third number Jersey number and steeler history, Travis number retired, which is a major major award, a great accomplishment. And now, as you said, it's going to bring back now it's going to be a great celebration now, not only the number 32 billion retired of the life of Franco and quite honestly, it hits me and then emotionally it leaves me, then the hits me I'm just back and forth on it and I have a hard time kind of grasp in that actually but such a great teammate such a great brand and someone that everybody that's coming contact with Frank O'Hara's knows that he was a gentleman always smiling. I never saw the man upset except one time and took both 13. Rich, I got sacked and he thought that Hollywood Henderson Henderson had roughed me up. He was stamen, it said very little in the huddle and unless I ask him a question. But this time, he said, Brad, he called me Brad instead of TV. He said, Brian, give me the ball. I want the ball. Well, I called my own place. I didn't have to wait for it to come in from the sideline or the press box. So I called 93 tackle trap. Primarily a great goal line play. It's great against the blitz. And I anticipated blitz, we're on the 22 yard line. Cowboys showed blitz. I went, oh my God, I got the perfect play. I'm walking up. I called it on first sound, which means there's an okay if it's just in the way we go to the cowboys, it's shifted their safety's over. Hot ball snap Harris cliff Harris runs into the umpire. The umpire box could have clipped her and freed frankel for 20 three yard touchdown. And a week later, the Provo cliff Harrison Charlie waters told me they did that on their own. They got out of position give me a blitz look to get me to call them to call a play into the strength would have been their defense. And I said, oh, that's great. I thought it was a blitz. Everybody that I'm blessed. And then I said, well, must have been a good reunion on the sideline between you and Tom Landry. He knew you guys had done this on your own. That's one of the best stories I've gotten Franco. Other than you used to always tell me, Brad, do you eat blueberries? And I said, a little blueberries. You know, I don't buy them every day, but I eat bluebirds. Yeah, Brad, you gotta eat blue birds. You gotta eat. Two cups of blueberries every day, they're great brain fruits. I wish I'd have known that when I was playing on it, you had a gallon today. So he was always on me about eating blueberries. And I used to tell him, you're telling me to eat blueberries, and you're selling you're selling donuts to kids in elementary. I mean, I could go on and on and on because love it, Terry. Well, while we mourn the loss we celebrate the life and the impact that he had on all of us that were fortunate enough to either been a teammate or to come in contact with him. Yeah, and that's, again, Terry, the beauty of what Saturday night will be, obviously there will be some morning and they'll be remembrance, but they'll be celebration and they'll be stories like this. And so you got a good one about the type of man he was. He was a man of the year, you know, this is before the award was named after Walter Payton. Right. And how, you know, what he meant to the people in that city. You had a front row seat to the blossoming of that. Right. For sure. Yeah, he was, I guess, since he was the

"Those games happen in the hangover is a place for celebration. And it's a support group. Thank goodness that the script that was written the pink script as tony mentioned was not the one that they decided to film yesterday and i had a chance to say something to my daughter and because i was really excited and not only was. I really excited. And we're going to talk about this because one. This was the most fulfilling the greatest opening day in my history of forty plus years of watching the pittsburgh steelers for a few reasons. I will explain that later. But like i said was not supposed to happen. Cohen colin coward said. It wasn't supposed to happen. And he's he bad. just ask him. he's a sports god So you know. Every nobody picked this with the exception of jeff hartmann now in fairness and i'm not claiming this we've have our bts's slack channel and There's a couple of guys I'm not going to say where they're from From another continent they might be from a men at work song that hit number one on january. Fifteenth of nineteen eighty-three. If you don't know what that is. There's not a place in australia called. Who can be now the so The guys from down under are claiming they picked the game in. They're actually they're actually sending trying to send proof from guys. It's over the all right but now a couple of weeks ago on this very show. I actually didn't like my pick for this game. When i picked the steelers for the game and i thought about it and i've seen the movie before and i decided that i'm gonna go with buffalo with the caveat that the steelers will turn around and win this game in the postseason win the rematch. But and i said that. But as i went on throughout the week i had already put it down on paper. I put it down on audio. Made it official that. I said bills. Thirty steelers twenty four. And then i started. I did a show with a. I did a show with kevin smith. The great cliff harris is stole punk. Katie smith the phenomenal coach from the state of new jersey. And we do the pre game show and he said to me. He went through this longest rotation about picking against the steelers and how we shouldn't do it even though he still picked against the steelers to because his gut was saying the same thing. But i was feeling better about it as we went along..

"He who he thought the definitive stealer like the all time stealer who is the all time stealer or the most popular with fans, you know, like the guy who who would Have the most power over it, and he's like he says Lambert. So I like that answer. You know, Joe Green is awesome, right? Blame all those guys. Lambert is the first guy that I think of two. It just he just and it's you know, some of that is just the cliche about he's the You know the middle linebacker and all that, but Um, just he. He just He just looked like a nasty dude to me. Just these pictures of him taking his helmet often like that. He just he was He was. He's a bad dude man, Super Bowl 10. Goes back asleep. Super Bowl 10 or Lambert gets all mad like or he points at Preston Pearson. Who used to be on Pittsburgh, and now he's on Dallas, he said, like points enemies down on the ground. It's 15 yards. Now, you might get suspended for that. And that play where Cliff Harris mocks like sort of taunts. Jar Ella after Jarallah misses a can't write and Lambert comes over and just throws him to the ground. Right? I mean, you you do that. You know, in a Super Bowl, your team wins the You're just a legend. I mean, that is just Yeah, no doubt that guy. I didn't think of him as like obvious answer for that question. I asked Andrew, but he's a fine answer to that question. So there's like a toughness with the Steelers, and they really When you talk about what they've done. The word is stability. You know, like, Of course they wouldn't have had to sub out Ben Roethlisberger 10 years ago. They haven't had a reason to do that. Until, like, maybe right now. But coaching wise, that's insane. What the Steelers are three coaches, three coaches in my lifetime, right? Like Who's three Sabres coaches ago. Housley, whose four Sabres coaches ago. Bottles. Steelers Chuck No, Bill cower Mike Tomlin. That's 50 years. Yeah, No. Yeah, It's crazy. It's crazy. I mean, it just Yeah, I just I I appreciate almost everything about them. So like I'm not like I'm not a tomorrow show, right? I'm not a Steelers fan, necessarily. But like I They have been an easy team for me, well, really their place in the in the in the conference, not so much the league but in the conference. Challenging New England has made them easy to root for. Because I'm you know, I need they're They're the team that they are. Maybe what the bills and chiefs will become. I guess. I mean, I don't know. We'll see. Maybe the bills would be better than the Chiefs right away. It's not established yet. Where? Where This is all going to go, But the Steelers were the best chance to knock off New England many years. And I always wanted that to happen. So go Steelers. Right? Can't wait for week one. It's almost.

Steelers search behind the curtain subscribe. Follow do whatever you have to do so that you don't miss a thing all right so as i was saying i did some traveling this past weekend. I you know what. I'm leaving the people that need to know. So in this case brian. Anthony davis new as if you remembered I know dave scofield new. Because he's my number two use my right hand man for the website and he knew and i said what steve when. I'm traveling south on ninety. Five headed towards richmond. Virginia something will happen. News will break. And i predicted that that news would be a new contract for mr. Tj watt and. I did also predicted. This would happen monday so at the time that this is being recorded. Tj watt has not signed a new contract. I predicted it would be monday. Thought they would get it out of the way early. In the week that we he gets to practice and all of its behind as they headed to the regular season. I'm not sure if that's going to happen. But that's what i thought was going to happen. News broke it definitely broke but it wasn't. Tj what it was not tj. Why the news broke that. A ton shokhin the longtime announcer and former player for the pittsburgh steelers lost his battle with ls. Now at the time. I wrote an article and if you didn't read the article it's a letter from the editor. Article ran sunday sunday morning. Nine o'clock i think check it out. I put a lot of heart and soul into that when there was a tough on the right Actually involve my wife a little bit with it It was pers personal anytime. Ls gets brought up. It's it's very personal after those. Listen to the show in when shokhin was diagnosed with ls. I talked about one of my best friends who passed away to the disease about six years ago. And even when i wrote that article it was really difficult for me to write. I got emotional writing the article E- you know. I didn't find this out until recently but i guess it turns out that time shokhin had some form of pneumonia and that's what actually killed him. But the one thing. I want to add to that in. This is going to sound horrible and i literally wrote the paragraph for that article. It felt like fifteen times where going through seeing firsthand up close and personal the struggle and fight that people with this horrible disease go through Just watching them literally wither away. That's what it is saying. Let's call us betas paid. It is then literally withering away. I i went to me my best friend. He was my workout partner. He was ever really strong. But i mean he one time i think he benched two oh five and he was so excited when he got two. Oh five that was like oh such a crowning achievement for him and the and i remember when he was traveling a lot for his job he came back from a trip from atlanta and we were in the local. Ymca together and he's a guy just feel so tired. I feel so weak and he took ten pound dumbbells and just try to do a shoulder. Press standing shoulder press ten pound on bells. And he just couldn't do it. He could not lift the weight up. Try given the spotty jeff league. My arm is literally networking and then. He ended up getting more tests his mother at eddie. Ls that was like the tipping point and they said that they that what he had watched him slowly deteriorated to a wheelchair. I remember the first time. I saw my friend chris fall and he fell on the steps. Thank god. I was in literally. Thank god that's a figure speech. I was behind him now. I was like two steps behind him in his legs gave way. And that's what happens. They did this involuntarily. They just stopped working. I caught him and we got him the steps then he was wheelchair bound and then he couldn't even work using a computer anymore and it was probably about a three year time span. Were you just slowly watched everything but the person's brain deteriorate and that's what's the most difficult thing My my friend was brilliant. Here's a cpa. Global controller for volvo traveled over to sweden paris brazil everywhere. He was ama-. Gosh just a brilliant in his mind never left him. And so the one thing i want to say about time shokhin a couple of things. Actually the one thing want to say about tom. Jokin is that if pneumonia token early as horrible as it is that his family might sit there. And say i can't believe he's gone. I can't believe that he's gone as soon in. They have every right to think that way. Talk to anyone that has lost someone with ls and they will say you should have a little bit of solace knowing that he didn't go through all of the agony that he would of pneumonia in again. I know it sounds horrible. I know that it just sounds it. Sounds downright disgusting to say something like that but until you've seen it happen in there's other debilitating illnesses that are similar whether it's parkinson's alzheimer's dementia. You know what that struggles like. And so for the oaken family. I cannot say. I can't say enough about my prayers are with you. I know it's a difficult time. Anyone that's lost a loved one as a difficult time but if you take any reprieve understand that touch elkin. This is the end. Somehow any of his family members would listen to my show. Touch elkin was not just a former player. Tonj elkin was not just a color commentator. Touch elkin was a part of the steelers fan base because they listened to him in. It didn't happen to be the during the game. Although those great calls everyone remembers tons famously. Saying if during the two thousand five divisional game with the indianapolis colts. Pack your bags. Call the travel agent kid gear going to denver and then of course after drove that his. Fumbles he goes. Call the travel agent. Cancel the plans. they get. We're not sure if we're going to call i of getting flustered here but still you understand what i'm saying. Hunch elkin was a part of my childhood. I grew up hearing touch in Myron cope from three or stadium with bill hillgrove. I grew up watching touch. Elkin on the news in the tunnel straight straighter talking about plays. It went right and plays dylan. Wrong and tonge oaken had a way of taking a awful play by the steelers in making you feel you know what if they just fixed a couple of things. I think it'll be okay. Touch was great at what he did. He was a great person. And i wish i could have met him. Never did but when you read about him when you hear about the humanitarian work the christian work that he did in the pittsburgh area the world is is definitely not a better place after losing touch shokhin but i just wanna say on behalf of behind the steel curtain Our family of podcasts are writers. I wanna thank tongan. Because tom jokin was a part of all of us and we all lost a part of us when he passed away. And i just want to give my condolences. It's a horrible horrible disease and hopefully may be shed some light on it for those. Don't know much about it but don show. Can you will be missed in this year. The same year that you'll be inducted into the ring of honor for the steelers.

"Drew and it was also interesting shortness beaches this year. They said really six minutes. We'll give you eight at the most and then we'll start playing off stage. His actually went a little bit his went about eleven and a half and he was really the only one over the entire weekend where they had to start playing the music academy awards style of play him off stage but as credit he did take the cue there and then he He got off stage pretty quickly after that but again this was someone who waited so long for his moment he didn't want it to end and it was not surprising that that he had. I believe the longest speech of everyone that spoke over the weekend. And how much of a tiered. Bring your eyes to see the reconciliation between jerry and jimmy. Well you know behind you gotta be one of the heartwarming story. I feel good story. Jerry jimmy of always been a feel good story. I think everyone can relate but no i. It's interesting there too because jimi again jimmy. The ultimate showman got it. Got it right off the top. Well i know what y'all are here to. What i'm gonna have to say about jerry jones. So we right off the top and does the twist about how much he means to him. And and You know his his his his success. And but it was interesting before jerry. Jones threw a party for the three members who were enshrined over the weekend. Which was cliff harris jimmy johnson andrew pearson. And they were all there at the party and so we're like previous Cop cowboys in the hall of fame. Coaching staff jimmy's coaching staff Other players from those teams I it was really a a star studded cowboys affair and i was struck. I was in there for a little bit before the speeches started. And the first thing i saw when i walked in were jerry. Jimmy were engaged in a conversation very casual very warm and it went on for quite a while and i was struck by how comfortable it was because if they weren't comfortable with each other. They had plenty of outs in that room to go. Look here's stay one st. I gotta talk to him or oh. Here's charles haley. I need talk to him for a second. They truly were enjoying each others company and having a casual Warm conversation and i've been told really over the last five to eight years. You've seen this more. And more behind the scenes they've been at functions together and they've really been able to acknowledge that you know we were young. We were full of bluster. I wanted all the credit. You wanted all the credit. We both did this to ourselves. We were good friends before we achieved people. Didn't that should be good enough and very quickly on. We need to wrap this up. Because i want to get into your trip to carolina For the minor league system and and what you did there but You know jimmy also mentioned this in his speeches well. One of the things he talked about was now that he looks back. He wonders his drive for. Success did not allow him to revel and enjoy the moment. Enjoy that success as much as they should and And that goes along with what Jerry jones was saying at the start of this training camp looking back in like i should have deferred You know it was on me To this relationship. How imploded. So i think both of them have gotten reflective can look back now and acknowledged that we did this to ourselves while also knowing because of their personalities. This was never going to be a long term relationship. This was going to talk about burning. Bright they burn bright but there is no way they could co existed for a long time. Yeah it's the one thing that i'm struck with is just How how many and competitors you speak to down the road and their biggest regret after achieving the pinnacle of their career is. I didn't allow myself to enjoy it more I guess you have to be that laser focused and not able to completely enjoy the moment that you're in in the moment that you're bringing so many people I mean from my perspective of a hundred miles away. It looked like jimmy. And jerry enjoyed it too much and then got into the vanity of. I want the credit for this. And that's what as you said. That's what led to the downfall of the relationship and ultimately probably the decline of the cowboys and very interesting again. We'd need to get on here but it's but that is part of that maniacal drive it takes to be successful on the level that they have done is you can't stop cherish any moment because then you lose that lose that drive then you become satisfied or satisfied. You're losing your edge and everyone else has that edge who hasn't achieved done so that athletes. I hate to say live in fear but fears a big motivation for a lot of them. And it's like if i lose my drive i lose. What makes me special well speaking of losing my drive. That's exactly what happened. When i got to north carolina literally I was a. We decided to think unusual this week and rather than have any stick with the big league club. We thought that the first week of august after all the transition would be really good opportunity to go out and see some of the minor league clubs and get a better feel for exactly where the rangers rebuilding and Got to the avis counter in greensboro north carolina last thursday and presented my car reservation and the agent had.

What what what they may say in was my favorite if out really presidential like a like an address of sorts and it was really sorry. Rich eisen Or he made this note right afterwards. Like peyton had all those photos like perfectly timed you know what i mean like in his speech like there was somebody was on some sort of powerpoint or something some google slide and just like rolling through the photos as peyton was like you know rolling right along now is really cool obviously awesome to see cliff harris and drew pearson a half. Imagine it was emotional for you. There was a lot of nineties. Cowboys nostalgia over the internet last week. Tony i did want to get your thoughts on. Obviously jimmy go into the hall of fame. He did not say how about them cowboys. I feel like everybody thought that was going to happen. It didn't happen. But your thoughts on jerry saying that jimmy is going into the ring of honor. I have some thoughts. But i'm curious what your takeaways knowledge you mentioned this. You're gonna watch my podcast because out of set that so you'll have to watch Beyond on thursday to twelve a good look at that. Tony is so versatile now at the professional team it's it's not that hard alleyway. You kind of set me up on that. Well i think it was. Just the love fast. Started the on the fan gang whenever they add him and jimmy on the sabbath roy and i thought it was really cold. The and it's long overdue It's something that needs to be gone. And i thought it was great. So are we going to. While i'm alive and i think that that's kind of what people really as you get older. You wanna make sure both these guy as around bill celebrating respecting gender. That's what they're obviously working on. They flew right back after the game on thursday. And then scrimmage against the rams on saturday. They're off again today. Were off yesterday. Head coach mike mccarthy though sounds like things are going good because today. It's all about the team move. Afford making progress and this football team is making progress through trying to cape you could see. We're getting better You know we still. I didn't think that until. I made the all decade team. I wouldn't thinking about hall of fame until then there. He is the original number eighty eight. And now all of famer bolster Drew pearson long past time. Yes i think. He said thirty eight years he goes but it doesn't seem like it over the weekend that now it seems like it went by pretty quick but what a weekend it was in and we had to be reminded jimmy johnson cliff harris. You had the cowboys playing on thursday night against the steelers. Then they flew back home Jimmy johnson obviously jerry stick around and it was like a cowboy love fest with all the people there representing Jimmy drew cliff so lots of cowboy fans up in ohio for a few days. Yeah jimmy johnson began his thank. Yous of course thanking troy aikman who served as his presenter and his next thank. You was to cowboys owner. Jerry jones was that a surprise. I don't think so. Because when they had the hall of fame game on thursday they were on the set. And that's when the jimmy are. Jerry made it official that jimmy will be going into the ring of honor and they just. I can't i can't begin to magin you. Had these huge egos when that blow up happened after they had won the soup. Second super bowl In ninety two they win ninety three. They win and then all of a sudden. Jimmy's gone in everybody's going. What the heck just happened here. But they have been able to get past that and water long under the brick. Yes these guys. Leave these two of the most successful men in the history of pro football and they worked so closely together that having having conflict would would have been impossible and will not having we. We talked about it too about it a few weeks ago that this jerry was very emotional in that state of the union press conference he had to kick things off out in oxnard and he knows the clock. Ticking so you need to. What do they tell you. As you're reaching that point put your he asks me. That's your sins and and let all that go something like that. It's got to do with it's got to do with the repairing your your your disappointments and your your hostilities. That right and knowing your audience. I don't wanna leave out. cliff harris. He was one of my favorites going up. Just when that guy went to hit somebody. I mean he and charlie waters would pop you big time. I'm not even sure the way they played would be legal in in this climate today. But here here's cliff harris And this is who this man is and he made that point of his acceptance speech. I like what proverbs.

"Go on and on ringo starr with invest drummer but those four guys together did something that was magical and when they split up well they all did good work. They never did the work that they did while they were together. So i really see that union of jimmy and jerry just being a perfect storm and i think they both had something to prove Jerry was viewed as this coming in from arkansas. Taking over the cowboys fired tom. Landry jimmy johnson was a college coach. And what's interesting to you. Look at this weekend through the cowboys lens. Okay which is kind of what i do to cowboys broadcaster. Who would have thought the three guys going. In from the cowboys organization right drew pearson cliff harris and jimmy johns at the start drew in nineteen seventy went undrafted in a draft that had seventeen rounds cliff. Harris went undrafted in nineteen seventy three again in a draft. That had seventeen rounds and jimmy's first year. He goes one in fifteen. So if anybody after looking at those guys through our training camp or their first year in professional pointed at him and said hey there walks a hall of famer you've been. You would have been laughed at. Yeah absolutely but here but here. They are actually asked mike. Mccarthy that question This past week. I was in cowboys. Camps art california where they try. And and i said hey these two guys players. We're both undrafted free agents. I said when you look at the field here when you out to practice today can you point out a free agent and say there was a hall of famer let alone to. Yeah oh my goodness it's just crazy and it almost goes to. You wonder how the hell did gillibrand get into the hall of fame when he was a guy in charge and he drafted neither of those players. We're talking to babe lautenberg. Twenty six years working with the cowboys radio network is color in its former. Nfl quarterback speaking of which your biggest concern for dak prescott. This year is what just stay healthy and obviously has a shoulder injury. A strain in training camp I'm not concerned. Because they're not concerned. Truly know many times they send up a smokescreen of non concern about different injuries. And then you find out the out of the year that won't happen in this case I mean he has so many weapons Cd lamb is going to be just a great player in this league. He had he had a really really good rookie season. Caught seventy four balls but this is gonna be a big time player You've got amari cooper michael gallup. You got zeke elliott. Who i know. I think much like mark twain reports of his de greatly exaggerated he. He's a heck of a back and he's he came to camp way to eighteen which is lighter than he's ever been maybe a little too light quite honestly in my book because he's a big powerful man but about even so some point. Yeah they they were there literally historically bad last year I always liked the bob dylan line just when you think. Things have gotten as bad as they can. They get a little worse and so people say well. It can't be as bad as last year. i would say well. why not. There's there's no rule that says okay. If you were really really bad you will not be worse. But they did try to address it. Obviously in the draft i six draft picks were defense and So they should be better. It appears they brought in some pretty good veteran. Guys gonna short things up a little bit But yeah i mean they should be better but there are no guarantees as you well know but i do think the offense is going to carry the team if the defense can just be average They're gonna win a lot of games. Well it it's like the kansas city chiefs created this model. That they're just going to score all these points and then you just ask your defense to come up with a couple of big stops. And and that's what they did in the super bowl. They won chris. Jones came up with a couple of big plays and And that's it. I mean you can score in the nfl. But everybody's scores really what separates. It feels like baby is the team. That does you know tampa on the super bowl because of their defense. Not because of their offense. Well i'll say this now. The last five super bowl winners have all had top five scoring offenses. So you've gotta be able to score points in today's nfl. And obviously they make it easy for disgruntle and say easy. Wouldn't be easy if i was out there. They've made it a lot easier that You know the the days of you know winning games. Thirteen to six Those are those are gone. So you gotta be able to score points. I even saw nick. sabin Was listening to him and he talked about the fact that the one year they gave up nine point nine points a game they they allowed sixty three rushing yards a game. He said he was always play defense. You know run the ball and he said once they started throwing around. They started winning more games and winning by bigger margins. So i if nick sabin can change his philosophy if you know obviously he still wants to play defense and they've got about ten first rounders over this year. Probably the do it with. But it's just be that's just the way the game has evolved to become again a lot of the rule change just as we. Well know all geared to offense. And you you keeping quarterbacks around longer because you can't hit them. Ben rothlisberger tonight. He won't play tonight. But you know eighteen years in the league and thinking about playing next year so we we see the longevity. These guys really laughing. Because they're not taking the beating that they wanted did. Before i let you go when you were at stanford and you got there. I think the year before. John elway elway comes. When did you know your days were numbered as a quarterback at stanford when elway showed up. I think it was the second half hour of the first practice. The first half hour was okay. It was the second competing with stretch. We're doing you know. Interestingly enough i played against john elway in highschool. So i knew i knew how good he was and of course. You know you think you're going to compete but But yeah he. He was pretty good. And the one. Good thing about that dan. When when i left stanford of course immediately people think. Oh you flunked out. I said no. No no no. But i always tell people if i was smart enough to get into stanford. I was also smart enough to know when to leave. Elway showed up. I said you know then look for the bambino here How would you describe him for those who who didn't see him when he came in eighteen. Nineteen years of age. I mean he had the same arm that you saw as an nfl player and again i actually saw in high school What i think is funny. If some of these guys have really smooth motions right and the ball just kinda so. Where do they generate that power. Every time he threw. I swear it looked like he was gonna tear us rotator cuff. You can just picture and cancer in the pocket on his toes channa and then he just ripped the ball but Never get like two practices and a guy ran a hook rounded about twelve yards and literally just toward the receivers finger straight off and straight back out. Oh well yeah. that's i. I thought you guys really liked to catch my ball. When i was there we were competing at stanford there and then i realized what they really just don't like to catch john's because it comes in mind you know. I always like it when they say this guy throws catchable that means. He's got a week and many times. The problem is it's catchable for the.

"Of course from bbb informatics hummel host onto the show. It is wednesday august fourth. Two thousand twenty one. We hope all is well wherever you are. We hope you're happy safe healthy and that you were having a very fulfiled hump day. Today is the last without any dallas cowboys. Games of any kind played so far this season. Yes i know. it's just a preseason but tomorrow the dallas cowboys. Our dallas cowboys. Play a game. America's team will face off against the pittsburgh steelers in the pro football hall of fame game. You can watch that game on fox. Obviously enshrinement weakened is coming lots of good times coming for jimmy johnson cliff harris andrew pearson by the by tony casillas and i did tell jimmy johnson stories rather. Tony told some and i listened on this episode of the seven five. Oh make sure you go back and listen makes you subscribe right here to the block on the boys. Podcast network collaborating rod review. If you ask a question. I promise we will answer it up. Let's get you caught up on all the latest and greatest in the world of the dallas cowboys. Which is our job here on the show and the big headline right now obviously has to do with quarterback dak prescott who did not throw again on tuesday during the cowboys ninth practice training camp. He will not play on thursday in the hall of fame game. I don't know that anybody really thought attack was gonna play even before the muscle strain but we now know what full show. Mike mccarthy took to the podium before practice on tuesday. He mentioned that the cowboys have taken a step back. I do think that it's important to say it's not like we've taken a step back. I think it's more like we're taking a step back. Mike mccarthy said that the car was still feel the same about the type of injury that dak prescott has undergone or is undergoing rather than experiencing however you want to put it but the cowboys became more conservative with the timeline after they assess things over the weekend mccarthy that after the research and looking at it the cowboys don't want to turn it into something big He noted the team's doing everything they possibly can and they're just being conservative with his rehab. We had a live show on the blog on the boys. Youtube channel on tuesday night makes shoes. Subscribe over there and tom rile. Who's been out in. Oxnard over the last couple of days Put it well. I thought this is the time of year. it's august fourth. it's august it's early august where you air on the side of caution mike mccarthy did appear on nfl network. Following tuesday's cowboys practice. And here's what he had to say about. Qb one coach you addressed the media limit earlier shared some news about that prescott and the shoulder if you could maybe just reiterate and walk us through sort of the decision and maybe how long you wanna make sure he gets to to get right before you put them back out. There definitely obviously has an injuries dealing with. And i i just think particularly the time of year we're in and where we are in our training We're just gonna kind of take a step back and then be smart with you. It's it's something that we just don't want to taint you know. Turn into something major so So you won't. You won't play thursday night in canton and we'll reassess when we get back. It is very possible that the next time dak prescott throws again in terms of practice and as far as practices concerned is next tuesday august tenth by the way that the same day that hard knocks premieres for the cowboys. The trailer did release yesterday on tuesday. It looks very good. We have it available for your blog on the boys dot com and we will have live shows available for you on the youtube channel. We will podcast those here as well if you're more of a podcast listener but it's almost hard knocks time anyway. The reason that that could be the next time that dak prescott throws is because while we mentioned. The cowboys are traveling today to head over to canton ohio. The hall of fame game is obviously tomorrow. That's thursday on friday. The cowboys obviously getting back to oxnard getting resettled. In on saturday the cowboys will have a joint practice with the los angeles rams where the status of rams quarterback matthew stafford is in doubt who sustained a thumb injury earlier this week. So it makes sense. If you are. Either mike mccarthy or sean mcvay to slow your roll with either of your franchise quarterbacks because again it is early august but it especially makes sense to do that in a practice that is going against another team you want to exercise all cautions. Although you know hey i understand if you're frustrated understand if you're whatever but ultimately everything really is fine other nudes other things to take note of on tuesday demarcus. Lawrence passed his physical and was taken off of the physically. Unable to perform aka the pup list it remains to be seen when he will be fully back and practice but a good step a positive step in the right direction for tank nonetheless. Also something very interesting on tuesday. The dallas cowboys released their unofficial. I repeat their unofficial depth chart for this preseason game against the pittsburgh steelers. Everything's pretty chalk. Everything's pretty much what we expected it to be something notable though the starting tight end is blake. Darwin look against just an unofficial depth chart. You know i'm not saying it really really really means something but it is worth mentioning none. The less michael gallup was also on. nfl network. he actually jumped on there before. Mike mccarthy on tuesday after practice and one of the more interesting things he said to me he was asked about the competition between the cowboys wide. Receivers the cowboys defensive backs. He talked about competition. Here's what michael gallup had to say but what is it like going against the dvd. They talk about ironing sharper. Nyerere and you guys have a digs. Who's a young player. Have you guys gotten the best of them this camp or have they gotten the best to you I mean honestly. I think this cam we've gotten the best. Today's discount. i our see been gone crazy. I haven't been able to go the last couple of days but cd's definitely been putting the hurting on so all our the wide receivers I think we've gotten the best of but You know good on good. That's what you like to see us like the as the competition side of and everybody likes it so the cowboys are traveling today. Again to canton. Ohio the good times are coming the dallas cowboys playing a football game tomorrow again. The dallas cowboys will play a football game. Tomorrow we'll have you covered of course all over the blog on the boys universe at the site on social media here on the podcast network on the youtube channel. In case you didn't know we will have a live show after the dallas cowboys game later on. Today we are scheduled to release a preview video for you where we tell you.

"Listening in that was was last year's defense. Great i mean that's that all depends on you and your own opinion may no. It wasn't it. Wasn't i'm sorry he surrender forty points in. I know not all of them. Were the the defense fault but when you when you have that dad. He just got the bad vibes going in the playoffs. It's just not a good look. I look at this and say the steelers. Defense with melvin ingram. Now they took a step in the right direction in that is going from good to great. Where are the weaknesses. where the weaknesses. Now on the steelers defense. That's the question we have to ask one another. Where are the weaknesses. Is it in the front seven. I don't think so. Excuse me especially not now especially not now when you think about how the one weakness in the front seven that we all talked about before the season started before the out during the offseason i should say was how they had horrible death at outside. Linebacker will not anymore. If quincy rochet can turn out to be even just a situational pass rusher. What else do you need. Cassius marsh will be a special teams guy. He's a demon out there. We know that he likes to throw his body round special teams. My goodness that'd be. That would be absolutely fine. So i think melvin ingram's impact on the steelers defense is going to be great if he can say healthy. That is a giant a giant. If all right. I'm my goodness my fault. Okay if you're listening live on spotify green room and you wanna talk to the speaker request. I would be glad to talk to you. I know logan who is a regular honor show. He said he can't talk tonight. But will we see an immediate impact for melvin. Ingram will take a few weeks for him to find a role in the defense. Well i think personally. Logan that melvin ingram signing now when he did is really really important. He's played in a defense in san diego slash. La that's very similar to pittsburgh. Their defensive is primarily three four. He's played that hybrid role where he can flex inside. He can obviously rush the passer from the outside. He's gonna know the defense for sure. He's under the defense throw in the fact that he now is going to be entering the coming into the steelers locker room before training camp he starts. He's in head start. The steelers reportedly were interested in just in. Houston i have a feeling just in houston. Maybe wanted some more money just houston also have said. I want to be a starter. I don't want to be a backup. I want to be a number three and that's fine. Justin houston might have to wait until the end of the train. End of training camp. Preseason or even tell someone gets injured before he can actually get a role so think about that. Think about if the steelers were in that situation. Think about it if the steelers were having to wait in hopefully get someone on the cheap now all of a sudden you're looking at well houses person gonna kind of houses player going to mold or gel with everyone else. Are they gonna learn the defense in time. Are they going to be able to do all those things that you know. Kind of a habitual. The non verbal communication between players. I think melvin ingram is smarter. Not he's veterans. Be thirty two years old this year. He's been around the block and then some he will be just fine when it comes to understanding the defense getting acclimated in. I can't trust enough in my opinion. And it's just my opinion how important it was or is that the steelers sign. Melvin ingram when they did get him into pittsburgh get him into the game into camp and let's make sure that he is fully on board and ready to go when we won rolls around holden. Who's in the spotify green ramp discussion boards. As i know you talk about the defense at the end of the season but do you think. The defense is great with bush but healthy at the beginning of the year. Maybe it's not a big enough sample size. I think it could be very similar if we ended up signing nelson back. Okay so hold on i. That is a great point is a great point that with devin bush healthy and budget pre healthy. It's different defense. Absolutely is different defense. I'm gonna plug. A an article is going to be published on behind so per dot com tomorrow wednesday at nine thirty in the morning in. That's from kevin smith our own cliff harris is still punk in. It's all about devin bush. How his impact for the steelers defense. You throw in devon bush. You throw in vince williams roberts spleen with a year under his belt you throw. Melvin ingram my goodness. I think this defense is going to be tremendous. I don't think steven nelson is going to sign back with the steelers. I know there's rumors are swirling. I know that everyone's excited about that. I just don't see it happening. And despite the fact that that'd be great to see steven nelson come back. I think they'll be okay. I really do. This always comes down to me is. What kind of defense are you going to be. Are you a defense. It's going to have good coverage in the secondary that is going to get a hold up and let the pass rush. Get to the quarterback or you're gonna be a defense against the quarterback enforces dad passes. I think they're going to be the ladder. They're gonna be a defense defrantz suffocating. Their collapse pocket they're going to wreak havoc on the interior in an old k with that. Absolutely okay everyone. We're at the midway point of the bod gas. If you're listening to live on spotify green room go anywhere..

"Game. The steelers needed a win to win the division. The afc central over the houston oilers. This was the fifth tiebreaker. If they lose their wildcard they're going to be on the road where they were four and four in that season so this game could have meant the difference between being out right away or winning super bowl. Fourteen and that dynasty for no steelers team from the seventies. Let's get into it matt. Bahr would open the contest up by kicking off to keith moody. Who would build the ball at the two and take it all the way to the thirty six to open the game ferguson would hit rookie jerry butler from clemson for a gain of thirty seven on the very first play over jack lambert and dirt winston chuck knox's team. They were rolling right away. They were on the attack. As carry miller's nine yard run combined with a l c greenwood facemask infraction had the visitors in business at the steelers twenty three on the next play. Mike collier who we mentioned. Look to be in the clear but out of the blue l c greenwood comes up and stops him in his tracks. Elsie greenwood he was fleet and he made it happen. Tony this was a big play or this game would have started off pretty rough for the steelers looking to win this game and get that division title and the and the fire under wrapped and be down seven nothing to have a team that had nothing to play for. That would have been pretty horrible way to start the game for the steelers defending champs. You're not uncertain. Seven loop cone pass from ferguson but was stock inches. Short of the marker by donnie. Shell out came nick. Mikka meyer guy. Always remember because of football cards. He was pretty good. Kicker that year had a rough day today spoiler alert. He converted from thirty one yards. But well wait wait. Wait yellow flag delay of game. He's pushed back five yards or like no problem. This isn't mickey myers range as well. Well it would hinder the bills. Joe greene he busted through and blocked a kick with show recovering the ball holder. Mike mnuchin got in front of number thirty one or done show. The future hall of famer would have been gone with the tv. Tony exactly and and my coaches hate mental mistakes right. I mean my goodness and job. And he must have thought he was. He was gone after a quarterback study that field goal was a quarterback really treated like that and and of course that was always johnny on a spot in those days and this is the amazing thing about that team. We're talking about joe greene. On special teams. mel blunt. Made a play in this game on special teams donnie shell. They played a lot of starters on special teams. Remember if they don't play starters on special teams in super bowl ten then what happens jack. Lambert does him go nuts and spike cliff harris after he goes after roy. Jarallah that game turn out different. Because that was a turning point in that game the steelers relied on their starters on special teams in. It always worked for them. Really interesting thing outcomes. Bradshaw the steelers offense minus john. Cole and sam davis on the left side of the line in for them were ted. Peterson and steve courson. Because these guys were injured weakness showed early as the steelers went. Three and out and great colt came on the punt. He blasted a sixty one yarder after three and out and a rusty jackson punt get used to that name. Tony you're knowing it here. Rusty jackson in your sleep tonight. He was busy today. The steelers came out with good field position at their own. Forty four but again three plays no dice. But the steelers defense was suffocating behind green shell lunt lauren. twe as and jack lambert t bells punt return. Set the black and gold at the fifty yard line and here comes twelve immediately. He found betty cunningham benny cunningham. Tony was a lot better than anybody gives him credit for. Because i thought. Benny cunningham was good. But when i watch him in retro show games he's all over the place yeah he was probably a tight end up with a little ahead of his time as far as athleticism and size been interesting to see how he would have played in. Today's nfl but yeah. He was a lot better than people remember. And he just kind of got lost in the shuffle. When you're talking about all those magnificent stars had on that offense. So cunningham had the twelve yard gain bradshaw's first completion of the contest. But the drive did stall and fifty. Two yarder was partially blocked. Keeping the game scoreless. The steelers would get the ball back right away after a third down sack by taes for a very long lost tony. Tb twelve would strike quickly again with a twenty four yard. Pass play to lynn. Swann runs by rocky bleier. Sidney thornton franco harris. Move the sticks to the twenty then swan he made a nice move and a leaping grab in the end zone for the score and it's a seven nothing lead after the pat at the end of the first quarter seven. Nothing tony how are you feeling. I'm feeling great at this point. It felt like he was playing so well. It felt like that's all they would need really. But yeah this is the quintessential lynch one catch leaping heine air out fighting defender for the ball to make seven nothing early on with the home team starting off in buffalo territory after a punt stallworth. Cutting hammond harris carried the mail for the steelers. Then nervous moments arose when bradshaw found his receivers covered and took it himself for a first down. What the blonde. Bomber had hints of red hair as hit a head laceration and he's heading to the sidelines in came the fourth year. Man from boston college might krusic with the ball inside the to afterwards run by thornton number twelve returned to hand the ball off to his star runner franco harris leader of the italian army. So next thing you know it's another score. It's fourteen nothing midway through quarter number. Two and jim has lit was kicked out because he ended up kicking bradshaw in the head here and has ended up being a great steelers coach in the nineties. But they think that's what mailed the hometown kid and got him out of the game. Tony bradshaw was defending. Mvp in nineteen seventy nine. So you you take less than savory shot at him you probably the referee's not gonna be too kind to you and especially if you're maybe an unknown play like jim has that west back then and yeah. They must've been pretty bad for them for done. Toss him out of the game. Roger did lose his helmet. You never saw it on the replay on the game. We were watching. They just said oh by the way. This happened Hey hey don let me see this love dunkerque by the way. He was great in this game. Now.

"To NFL insider I'm Scott Graham. In the 19 seventies, the Dallas Cowboys became America's team, whether you love them or hated them. And while Dallas is offense got the headlines, it was the Cowboys defense under Tom Landry that set the tone safety Cliff Harris was the six time pro bowler and his 10 seasons wearing the star. It is one of only 13 players to appear in five Super Bowls. Two of them wins. In February. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and that night he told Laura Okmin that he was the right guy at the right time in Dallas. I think that one of the things that I did with it. I was very fortunate was that Tom Landry had a very complex defensive system defensive game. I mean defense plan that he designed himself. We had computerized printouts. I was just talking these other guys that they didn't have those back when I was and I get that kind of stuff. And the thing that coach Landry got out of May was, he knew that I got his system. And he knew that I knew that I could work within the system. I started a zit. I mean, my first started my first game. The first playoff. I mean, first preseason game I started And I started the first season game was only rookie to start an undrafted undrafted free. There were there were only 100 and 20 rookies. I had to beat out my camp in 1000 Oaks, California, but you know, it's I mean, just do what you can do on, uh, in the thing. This was really I mean, I'm trying to figure this out to you know is this thing happens in progress develops is that you know, how did Landry must have known that I got his system and that he knew that I got his system and then I knew how to work his system. And I did and how he knew that as a rookie and just tells you how great of a coach he wa so you know. Do you find a guy like you trust a guy like water from washing All Baptist. You know, toe come up and play free safety and we went toe Kash five Super bowls in 10 years, So I mean, uh, you know, it was just, you know, and made that system work with, you know, great players. I mean, gosh, we had so many great players and That I think that coastline you had a personal connection with that he knew how that That he knew how to motivate those guys how to make them work that they would fit in his system, and it works for us. You know, this is going to be tough because with all those Super Bowls with the championships with the conference wins everything you've done if you had to put one signature moment. Next to your bust. It could be a play. It could be a game. It could be just a signature moment that goes along with the bust. What would you choose? Well, I think you know, it would probably be. You know, there's a car so there was there were a couple. There was one moment that that I think really made a No, I know had an enormous impact on the is that you know when we can so they cut my rookie year They came back and Uh, cut 100 rookies and there were you know something? We're all we're always worried about making the team if we're gonna make the team and he was gonna do this and Tom Landry before the first season game, said announced the starting lineup. He announced May is the starting free safety. Well, that meant two things. You know first, and then I made the tea. That was my goal. You know, you gotta make the demon remains the starting lineup. So then I made the starting lineup was, you know, you know, you know, that was that's a good thing. It's icing on the cake, but I think the other thing is, you know, I don't know that's a really good question..

"In Thursday's practice. Just a regular drill went down, and that was it. You know, it's the Packers Conduce. Something's to rejigger their offensive line. But this is not a blow that they can recover from. They're still gonna play. I think they're gonna be okay. But This hurts. You take a look at the NFC East and in all honesty, none of us really want to spend too much time looking at the NFC East because of how bad a division it has been this year, but it's still up for grabs. And on Sunday night football. The Washington football team still has a chance to win claim the division title. If they were to lose that game. The winner of the Cowboys Giants game earlier in the day would be the division champion. But Washington. It has been a bizarre year and they separate from Dwayne Haskins this week and Alex Smith. Progressed during the course of the week to be able to come back and start this game, which, I guess has to be the best news that Ron Rivera could have. Yeah. I mean, he you know it was. I think last week he was really, really close. I thought at around. Let's say Friday afternoon last week that Alex Smith, there's going to be the starter and then he came in Saturday and was sore. So then he wasn't the start, And then it was doing Askins and then he got benched. And then, as we reported, he got released waved. And now he's a free agent, and then Alex Smith. You know some really positive developments after that. On Thursday, he took first team raps in individual drills and was able to participate in some team Reps. Very, very good son. Obviously they enough to keep monitoring and make sure that he is going to be monitoring and make sure that he does not have any soreness. But they do believe he's gonna be in there as the starter. What I ask you one more thing from this week because, as you know, I do have an unhealthy fixation on what ends up happening in the off season in the National Football League. We're still trying to figure out what it's gonna look like moving ahead next year. But Players association coming out this week and suggesting that there be no more O t A's or many camps. Are we going to see a major change in what ends up happening and footballs off season soon? I think we may. I don't know what those changes they're gonna look like, But Jacey Traitor is a very respected voice. You someone. Pretty recently the owners did a deal with kind of redoing things as it related to the health and safety agreements for covert. It worked very closely with him the fact that he came out and said He doesn't think there's to be offseason conditioning is noted. I know the NFL expects you to be some changes well, and you know what it might look like is this This is just sort of reading the tea leaves and offering a guest. You might see teams and players meeting virtually so they can still get in their meetings. They can still talk football. You might see players on their own for conditioning and say, April. Do players need to be in there in April and then come in for seven on seven and sort of O T A's in May and June and have that be it. I think that would be fine. I think everyone's comfortable doing virtual things now, so that would be a a pretty good compromise. We will find out as we move forward and once again happy New Year Thanks to talk to you next week. All right, look forward to a happy New year. That's Westwood one weekly contributor and NFL Network Insider. Ian Rapoport up next one of the newest members of the pro Football Hall of Fame. Cliff Harris, This is NFL insider. Oh, all right. This is Derek's arriving auto parts story after the third time jump starting my car. I finally realized my battery was dying. So I stopped by O'Reilly to have it checked. They tested it right there in the parking lot. It was bad for real bad, but they help me find the right battery from my car. And even installed it for free. Now my car starts like new alright old parts. Good afternoon. Would you like to try a free sample of our double fudge?.

"An end, and the beginning regular season comes to a close and the dance card for the post season is about to be filled. Talk with Washington rookie Chase Young All of Famer Cliff Harris, and we'll start the postseason a week early as we remember the first time America had the drama of the playoffs beamed into everyone's home. And it all starts right now. Happy New Year to you and yours and a heartfelt hope that things will be better for everyone in 2021. Where do we stand? Well, we know that seven playoff sponsor guaranteed and seven more will be wrapped up on Sunday. We also know that the 256th game of the regular season will determine the final playoff team. Sometimes things just work out right Sunday night Football has the Washington football team playing the Philadelphia Eagles. Washington Win gives Ron Rivera's team the NFC East Championship for the first time since 2015. And riverboat. Ron is hoping his team has learned enough in this roller coaster year to be ready to finish the job. Well, I think the biggest thing is that you know, we've kind of had a playoff experience. For for the last half of the year. You know that we've had to win we had when we had the win, and then we got a situation where, you know. Yeah. You know, if you win great, it's not Now We're back in that situation where you have to win, And And so to me, it's gonna be you should see how we do have let's just because It's a group of young players and you know, going forward to be in this position and have been in this position for a while. You hope that these moments aren't too big. How should Washington fail? The winner of the early game between the Cowboys and Giants will become the winner. If it's New York that would be a six and 10 division wetter and the Giants Logan Ryan also knows that big game experience is a confidence builder. I mean, look, these guys have all played a big game on some level. Of you know their career, whether it be the state chairmanship of high school. Some college, you know, Tostitos bowler from Popeye's Bowl or something, And there's something that they deemed a big game and Umma, dammit days it's being out of control. You know it Xem. I prepared and cannot execute that. I worked as hard as I can all week to be prepared, and when it's time to execute it, can I execute it when it matters? Um, you know your opportunities of saying, Hey, we'll get it right next week are gone a sign from the NFC East, which will extend its streak to 16 years without a repeat champion. There are plenty of playoff spots up for grabs. Green Bay Packers are already and I've seen North Chance, but her trying for the top seed and first round by when Aaron Rogers and company had to Chicago to play a Bears team. It faces a win, and they're in scenario anytime in Chicago. There's always that little extra. That's Built in, I think in the fabric of the organizations from the history of playing so many damn games against each other and And the feelings that the mutual feelings that both fan bases have for each other and the grimy games that we've had over the years, so I don't think you need to add any extra motivation to this game. We both have some to play for. We're playing for the one. See they're playing for their playoff lives, so there's a lot at stake. For both squads. You know, we got after him a few weeks ago. They've been playing a lot better since then on do you know were we know what kind of game is gonna be? Chicago would also qualify with a loss and a loss by the Arizona Cardinals, who faced the Rams in L. A Both teams are in the post season with a win, but L A is doing it without quarterback Jared Goff was out with a thumb injury that leaves the keys to the car in the hands of 25 year old John Woolford. Wake Forest product will become the first quarterback to ever make his debut in a season finale. With the playoffs on the line..

"To NFL insider. I'm Scott Graham. 19 seventies, The Dallas Cowboys became America's team whether you love them or hated them. And while Dallas is offense got the headlines, it was the Cowboys defense under Tom Landry that set the tone. Safety Cliff Harris was a six time pro bowler in his 10 seasons wearing the star and is one of only 13 players to appear in five Super Bowls. Two of them wins. In February, He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. And that night, he told Laura Open that he was the right guy at the right time in Dallas. I mean, my first started my first game of the first playoff. I mean, first preseason game I started And I started the first season game was only rookie to start an undrafted undrafted free. There were there were only 120 rookies. And I did and how he knew that as a rookie and just tells you how great of a coach he wa so you know, they could find a guy like you trust a guy like water from washing on Baptist. You know, toe come up and play free safety and we went toe Kash five Super bowls in 10 years, So I mean, uh, you know, it was just, you know, and made that system work with, you know, great players. I mean, gosh, we had so many great players and That I think that coastline you had a personal connection with that he knew how that That he knew how to motivate those guys how to make them work that they would fit in his system and And it worked for us. You know, this is going to be tough because with all those Super Bowls with the championships with the conference wins everything you've done if you had to put one signature moment next to your bust. Could be a play. It could be a game. It could be just a signature moment that goes along with the bust. What would you choose? Well, I think you know it would probably be. You know, there's are so there was there were a couple. There was one moment that that I think really made a No, I know had enormous impact on the is that you know when we can so they cut my rookie year They came back and Uh, cut 100 rookies and there were you know something? We're all we're always worried about making the team if we're gonna make the team and he was gonna do this and Tom Landry before the first season game, said announced the starting lineup. He announced me is the starting free safety. Well, that meant two things. You know first, and then I made the tea. That was my goal. You know, you gotta make the demon remains of starting lineup. So then I made the starting line because, you know, you know, you know, I think that was that's a good thing. It's icing on the cake, but I think the other thing is, you know, I don't know That's a really good question. Think the other thing was, you know, winning Super Bowl 12 against the Denver Broncos in New Orleans. We lost three Super Bowls here in Miami. So, uh, but look at it, But I don't think that's a great news of my two and two and we want to in New Orleans. But You know, winning that because I was more of an integral part of that defensive team. You know you no more so than I was when I was a rookie when we are second year guy when we won our first Super Bowls was Bob, Lily Lee, Roy Jordan and all those guys so It was really so part of was made was a group gratitude, you know, to win that And when that Super Bowl New Orleans, I haven't You know, it's it was a great win. That's all of Famer Cliff Harris, elected in 2020 and due to be enshrined in 2021. The mission of the Pro Football Hall of Fame is to honor the heroes of the game..
