"Item. And that is, for a world without barriers. And you can say in German fair take, which means finished or if I'm in America, period, or full stop, that that's it. And the organization and what we do now has grown and this is our, I think it's our 13th conference. And we are celebrating a ten years of partnership with the United Nations, and I think it's going to be our biggest conference ever this year. And I think we've got maybe a thousand people registered coming from 80 different countries. That's incredible. Yeah, sorry. I really witted on that. No, no, no but you're passionate about this. Oh yes, I love it. I am for your listeners. I am a balding middle aged white guy. Give me a break. Tell me how a Brit with that accent. Gets to live in Cleveland, Ohio. And every day gets away with that accent. How does that work? Well, I'll tell you exactly how that happened. So I'm in mid 60s, and so people who know their history will know that in the. Beginning of the 90s and the 80s, British government was the kind of rump end of mister majors. Government and conservative government one thinks of shall we say corruption and I didn't hold with misses Thatcher and I didn't hold with mister major either. I also had bought a house on obviously a black Thursday or black Monday. And by the time I left for the U.S., my mortgage rate was, I think I was paying something like either 15 or 18%. It's always paying more in mortgage than I was actually earning every month. So if somebody asked me to go to New York and set up the U.S. end to their operation. And so I went to New York originally for three months. I never, ever lived in the UK after that. And that was back in 92. So I spent 30 years 28, 29 years in New York. And then COVID came along, my wife's an artist, and where she used to go and do her art, which was a place called the art students league in New York. They had printing presses and she had space and she had studio space. Come COVID, infrastructure goes completely. As you know, New York is not the cheapest place in the world. So we couldn't actually afford the largest apartment. So we had a wee apartment in New York and she was unable really to do her art from the kitchen table, which itself was bad postage stamp size. So she comes from originally from northeast Ohio. And we thought of moving and so we decided, okay, that's it. And we moved to Cleveland heights. Which is just outside Cleveland. And we did that, I think. Probably in what we now 23, we did that in May 2021. And you love it. Absolutely wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.

"Jason ends up at the university of Cincinnati, he walks on, he switches to offensive line, Travis is back playing quarterback in high school, a Cleveland heights, but he's not really being recruited heavily at all. What does Jason decide to do? Jason decided to kind of lobby his coaches at Cincinnati and say, hey, you guys need to take a look at my brother. And I remember Travis saying that he would often go visit Jason on campus and it really wasn't until he was there in person and the coaches saw him in person. We're like, who is that dude? Who's that big guy? I kind of pushed it a little bit. I'm like, you know, why are we offering my brother? I think once they saw him, they realized, you know, how big he was, his athleticism and everything. That's when they really started to recruit him. Once they kind of saw him in person and married that to the tape that they were seeing, that's when they offered Travis a scholarship to come play for the bearcats. So in 2009, Lisa, Travis and Jason are finally playing together on the same football team. Travis is this wildcat quarterback for the bearcats and Jason is his center. So he's literally snapping the ball to his little brother. The dream it would seem is finally realized. How did their debut together go? It was the first game the two had ever played together and Jason snaps the ball to Travis and Travis who's the wildcat quarterback scored the touchdown. Kelsey stays in a quarterback again, it's a keeper. At the goal line touchdown Cincinnati. They're thinking the sky is the limit. I know Travis was certainly thinking the sky's the limit. I was having the time of my life playing quarterback in college with my brother. I'm running right behind his big behind. Travis told me he was thinking that he was going to end up, you know, in the Heisman conversation that they might possibly down the road when a national championship, their time had finally come. The time for the Kelsey brothers to light up the field together. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. For whatever reason, whether it was the scheme or just because Travis was so young, he didn't get much playing time after that. But the team did end up going to a bowl game that year and it was in New Orleans and Travis decided to live it up a little bit in New Orleans with some teammates. He was out in the streets partying. I was down there partying drinking, smoking, trying to enjoy life and doing things that I wasn't supposed to be doing. A couple days later, he was drug tested. That's what happens when you're in college. You could be randomly drug tested at any time. NCAA came with a drug test and my heart literally just went sunk right to the floor. He says, when he found out he was going to be drug tested, he knew what was going to happen next. A few days later, he got called into coach's office. And coach told him you tested positive for marijuana. And you are off the team. Son, you're off the team. I'm taking your scholarship, you'll never play a down of a football here at the university of Cincinnati again, that kind of

But this is the most disciplined. I've been on the bike in many years and And so i was a little pissed off and so i ended up calling. The the race organizers is like hey just want to let you know bib number twelve. i'm not gonna make it like and it turns out the guy was super nice. Here's like hey man we're not the uci like we can just push you back. He's like when you be here. And i was like i'll be there ten after eight and he's like a set you up for nine zero four. How's that sound like. Oh sweet okay. So i ended up getting there After i took the entire drive to get my mindset correct after that and Yeah set off at nine four and Thirty thirty minutes forty seven seconds later came back to the finish line as pretty happy the result. So like i said it was a. It's a twenty k. T. t. did it in thirty minutes. Forty-seven seconds average speed of twenty four point five miles per hour That put me in thirteenth overall. And i did get i in my age range. Nice but there were a lot of events that led up to that. And i don't think it was truly my best effort. I'm definitely going back next year. And i'm going to train a little bit differently. We need to find a second. T t bikes. Oh yeah we don't have to share one anymore. Because i want to do this to yeah. The club has daily rides of pretty much any. Yeah on that you want like like they have a gravel. They have a road. It's kind of amazing like it. You've got your degree pretty quickly. Let's go to new york. Let's see what we can do with this An acting you know for for a living and it was kind of a rude awakening in a sense right. Having no idea where we're gonna stay. We had found a really cheap hotel called the jane street. Hotel with this is before we in the angry inch was performing there. It was a truly rude awakening like we went and you had to. You had to rent towels. We heard for real gunshots outside. My husband remembers calling our parents on the pay phone in the in the lobby. To tell them that we were okay and he said someone a woman come out of a room with the dixie cup filled with something and throw it in and he said he saw it like swing in front of his face and it was just clearly filled with urine just like space. "Somebody from the local television station came and i was asked audition for a local television show which you might be referring to called hickory hideout which was up a puppet show well. I shouldn't say it was there. Were puppets in it. Then you were. Who were you i would. I was not a puppet. And i was not a puppet. I was not a puppeteer. I played a young woman named jenny. And jennie had a lot of questions. And so she would ask her friends. Nutso unsurely squirrelly. Who we're puppets. Sometimes i would go to the treehouse and ask another puppet named noel about things like parents getting divorced or your braces. Or if you're one of your wisdom teeth were lance so this is this is local. Nbc cleveland and and i believe kyc. But i mean you are probably at that age. Twelve is when you started i. It's an interesting age like we're you the envy of your peers or the target of your peers. Doing i don't think anyone knew what the heck was going on like. I knew. I missed sometimes monday afternoons and i still begged. I'd still for some reason. Everybody all the nuns. Let me still be in basketball. Even though i never could play the games. I would still. I would go to practice. Because i just wanted to be so show like. I wanted to have some grounding factor with my pals at school. But i definitely felt very like i had this other life like my great aunt betty again beautiful and betty would take me with her knitting down to the news station and we shot it scott in the news room so they would. We'll the news desk aside and they would wheel on this tree tree house and then we would shoot using the news cameras and the news light. It's almost like a mr rogers type. I mean sort of hundred percent and then we will have some location days in the metro. Greater cleveland area metro parks and it was all like a of these amazing actors that i worship from watching plays at the playhouse wayne turney cassie wolf today. Few these were like my idols. So i was really felt like i was learning a ton from these from. These guys have siblings. I do. I have two younger brothers. The early oldest. You're going down this path. Obviously with i don't know. I mean i guess it's probably spending money or i don't know you're not getting rich off hickories hickory. Hideout where you so. I mean what. What did your parents make of this. And the fact that then you would want to pursue this further. I guess wherever you were going off to like wherever you would be accepted for college. It was gonna continue to be your your direction right. I mean it's all so weird. I'm telling you i mean i didn't have a ton of money and so i did make a little bit of money. It wasn't a lot more than babysitting. And so i had some. I remember i do remember. There was an side of cleveland called in my area. Cleveland heights called coventry and there was like it was kinda like the cool like there was coffee shops and people smoke down there and you know whatever i there was a leather shop and so i bought myself a motorcycle jacket for one hundred dollars and that when my mom my mom took me down to get it and i thought i was. I was listening to new order. And i thought it was so cool so that was something i could. I bought with my hickory. Hideout money when i was listening to whatever the smith and i thought it was so cool but but i definitely was. It was very important for me again too. I really wanted. my parents. Were very clear that they didn't have money to send me anywhere but to escape as a state school and we have amazing state schools in ohio. But i was really wanted a great liberal arts and theatre education. I just knew it. And so i worked my arse off in high school like i was like i was like i'm going to get a scholarship. I'm going to go to a great school. I'm going to get. I love ohio. But i was like i want to go to a great undergrad program and again i think classic over achieving older only daughter. You know but i i did. I got myself to north western accrued a crap ton debt but it was an amazing education so northwestern has a trunk theater program. Was that something you immediately. Do you knew that this was going to be a major though is communications right. So what does that what were you. What were you thinking you would do with my my delight. So if you wouldn't mind sharing where you were born and raised and what your folks that are living god. I love it really back at the beginning. I was born outside of chicago. But i was raised in cleveland heights. Which is a suburb on the east side of cleveland. ohio And my mom was for the most part a stay at home mom until she went back to work she started working. At a montessori school in an administrative capacity and my dad was in advertising and then he had his own business called ohio computer ribbon and supply. And now i know you started acting professionally. Innocence at a very early age. But i guess just before we even get into what that was all about. Do you remember how you even realize that before that. That acting was something that appealed to you. My uncle paul an who recently died but my uncle. Paul was really kind of my i shepard in to this to this world. He took me to see my first opera. Which was hansel and gretel humperdinck opera. And i just remember being it. Was you know like we all remember anyone that has anything to do with the performing arts. That first feeling of being transported. I i remember being blown away. That hansel was played by a girl just couldn't because of the so that they could get their their voices. I just remember just being blown away by the wicked witch being blamed on not understanding the language but just i knew of course the story and i was just so moved by the power of the the music and so i grew up with both of my uncles. My on my mom's side were in classical music and some way or the other so my uncle paul would go. He was the general manager for symphonies. All over the country before they started like as they would just be folding behind him basically as he went around the country it was so sad. We have to keep the arts alive but i remember sitting in seats and listening to classical music a lot as a child and going to see the ballet with my mom she would always get season passes and we would go to the ballet will so how to somebody you know. That's that's a that's cool exposure at a young age to the arts. But i mean that's a long way from being on tv at the age of twelve lake. How does how does this kind of happen that you you basically wind up with a saturday morning. Children's show that you're starring on. I mean i. I was occurred in polar at the cleveland. Play house so i backtracking a little bit. When i was in kindergarten. I started taking acting classes after school and i was like. It was weirdly faded. I just was like i. It was like there was no as soon as i started taking these classes and started seeing i remember also my aunt. Betty took me to go. Anthony went to take me to see annie when it toured through town so it was just like happening by scott. There was no option. I didn't see how it was going to unfold like. I had no grandiose ideas but it was just like that was what was in the car. It's like that's who i was. I mean there was never a backup plan ever. So i was at the cleveland playhouse. I was those were like. That was my church. That was my and even though he went to church it was like the i had nothing on it. Like there was nothing holy to me than just like a ghost lamp on a little stage with like a bunch of grubby other kid actors just scrambling around you know around it. Vending machine will when you say you were occurred in polar though. You're not literally pulling the car. That was a program that was the program it used to use back in the day. They would pull. The curtains. And i was really bummed to learn that i would not i was not asked you but we we. You know it was like we did. We did shows cold like sneakers..
