"I'm your host sydney. And i'm here with martin guys. We just watched a crab tastic game as the dallas mavericks lost to the fourteen thirty seven houston rockets. One zero two to ninety three. I think the rockets lost twenty three out of the last twenty five or something like that and the mavs. They were feeling generous tonight. Two of those winds are against dallas by the way really so. So yeah the mas- we're like you know what you guys need this more than we do. They were feeling very charitable tonight. And i think i think we should appreciate the kindness of the mavericks allowing the rockets to win this. How many wins are they going to have this season and played dallas win every game. I mean it's just it's tough loss. I mean. I don't know if. I want to overreact to id. This was a typical and they talked about it being a what do they call it. The trap gap game and the mavericks having music trap. Not the music type. Just the kind of a tough game. Yeah thanks for interrupting me okay. It's not like you know when the mavericks were good back and dirk era trap games were an actual thing as you're good you play good teams all the time and then every now and then you gotta play this crap team in in yes. Yes but since dallas has sucked for the last ten years. The term trap game doesn't really exist yet like every game now this one though because of the way dallas has been playing lately and been playing. Every night was a big opponent. I think this literally was an actual. The i trap game. They've had in at least seven years and they played like trash they just. I mean josh. Richardson was like dr jekyll. And mr hyde and last game five for five from three this game for sixty nine you know it was just terrible. Yeah he was over nine overall he had one point and it was a free throw because he missed the other. We miss the second one meli who started in place of maxi cleber. He had two points. During an fini's smith had nine luca and is both had twenty three. I mean they both had solid gains..
Is Zion Living Up to the Hype for the Pelicans?
"Were in Dallas for the pelicans overtime loss to the Mavericks. Second night of a back to back for New Orleans obviously but we didn't see the Zion. We've sort of been spoiled by over the last month. So what did you get from Zion? On Wednesday night. I saw someone who had to go through a little bit of adversity. There's two different things working against him in that Dallas Game One. It was the first time he played on a back to back. You didn't see his legs under him. Early actually play but gets the block on Williamson Williamson. Took his time getting up court. You may be subbing out of the ball game here. He is drew and Lonzo Ball. We're GONNA come on up to him. Hey man you you're right you you tired. Are you going to play? You GotTa pick one. The other thing. Going against him was Dallas they started Maxi Kluber alongside of kristaps porzingis specifically for Zion Williamson two. That might have been forcing a psychotic burst that is just perfectly played deep that still by Dallas Cleveland's doing A. They went to the formula. That's been working. Which is the. We're GONNA get the tallest guy we have can defend him to do it. And then have another seven footer. Awesome plus footer at the Rim Ryan got blocked inside again. It's not possible in less. Cleber is being this physical and allowing time for kristaps ticket over there. Lieber six ten obviously porzingas seven three. Those have been the only really match ups that have given him problems when they played the box. Janas guarded him and then you have the Lopez twins behind him. Protecting the RIM defers Lakers game. Anthony Davis guarded him. And you had jovial and Dwight rim so that combination kind of went against his favor so walk me through a little bit of the process on the back to back portion of it because this is obviously part of the Adjustment For Zion. So where do you find the line? If you're the PELICANS in trying to get him experienced doing things like back to backs that he'll be asked to throughout his career and then also sort of adjusting him since he is still getting fresh on the court after an injury yeah so initially David Griffin the PELICANS executive vice president of basketball operations who should have a shorter title. It's a mouthful say every time I don't know I mean if you're going to have a title let's go big with it like if I'm going to have a business card the whole front of it's going to be my title and the backs. Just going to say fits. There's not not my first name. Just I'm pretty sure that's what his business card says. I haven't seen one but I'm pretty sure that's it has to read like that initially As I was coming back from the injury. Grif said he wasn't there. Were probably going to take it easy on back to backs. Now the good thing that kind of worked into their favor there was January. Twenty second was when he made his debut since then the Tuesday Wednesday back to back that they just had was the first time they had a back to back so they got to let him get games under his belt. He mentioned to his own Tuesday. You know I have to do the recovery if I want to perform the way that I'm capable of performing as you try to push for or is this your mutual agreement Little bit of both but I need a push for myself because I gotTa do the recovery of I want to be able to perform. We do every night with that. Being said coming off the knee injury there were reports that he was learning how to walk differently. How to run differently? I mean when they're watching him and they're monitoring and what are they looking for his indicators of his health very funny to me because I think George Sodano said that I think on ESPN broadcast and it just kind of blew up. He's learning how to walk and anybody who's been through physical therapy at any point that I for any sort of knee. Injuries foot injury. Whatever it is can tell you. They will relearn how to walk in physical therapy. The learning how to walk and run differently was more about little things in his gate that they wanted to fix. The biggest thing that they really wanted to correct at that time was how he landed when you go back and watch how he landed at. Duke with these huge one handed slam traffic. He's landing on one foot one of the big things you see. Now when he goes up for a dunk whether it's an alley whether he's just throwing it down to hands. He tries to land on two feet as much as possible. Zeile yeah that the to hand flush and a great entry fee for Lonzo Ball over Kunst buck to finish that would KUPA gotta be thinking. What in the world so. It's little things that maybe you don't know at nineteen years old that the Pelicans are trying to instill in him so they can take a little bit of stress off of his knees. The biggest thing you just said is nineteen if you listen to Zion. He'll make sure he tells you. He's nineteen in just about every other interview. I feel like I mean but doesn't right like we are so busy trying to make him either the savior of a lead. That doesn't need to be saved or the reason that we're over. Hyping somebody to the point that people ridicule how much we talk about it but you look at it at some point. Say this is a nineteen year old kid. We're talking about that is absolutely crushing in a limited sample size. So let's turn the tone positive here for a second you're looking at a nineteen year old kid. What he's doing is unprecedented right. It's absolutely unprecedented. Feel like every other night we were finding ways to start a sentence with Zion Williamson. Doing something and we ended it with Michael Jordan or Shaquille O'Neill or Tim Duncan or wilt. Chamberlain the goes on and on and on. And you're like that doesn't make sense.

Stay right there but something about this tells me the Pelicans will be a little bit better than them but I don't know 'cause K._p. "All that we still did nine moves in eight years, which. It was moving a lot. Yes. Which I enjoyed it wasn't that people think. Oh, god. That's terrible. It was fun. Yeah. Where you're at and one onto. Exactly. You, you know, it's my wife and I always joke around people meet us and they're all my God. Your wife is a Saint for her to put off all that garbage. It's like, well, you know, our lifestyle doesn't suck now. So it's, you know where things have changed. We're Emily L David you jumping here. Second to them. We awaited the boat. He's where did living on the boat for three months come in into the store. I'm just curious like where that was that. And you can explain what that was sure. Yeah. So almost five years, into my sales business things were getting a little intense as far as hours, worked stress level by the rentals and all that. And we had set in my wife and I like to travel a lot. We want to travel whole lot more than we do. And we started looking at properties to buy our country. We looked at Mexico and all their laws down there. We considered Belise Nicaragua Dominican Republican. We started looking at, you know, as a foreigner buying property down there and started digging into that, and almost every resource, we dug into. To I mean, there's even one book my brother-in-law read that said, if you're not, okay. Losing one hundred percent of your money, close the book and don't even finish right now. And the risk tolerance standpoint of that crap. I'm yeah. I'm not okay with that. So the risk Howard standpoint was part of it, and I thought, well, man, if we buy a property out of the country when you get really sick when they're pretty quick, you know, my wife and I we like moving around quite a bit. And we like exploring different areas, and we didn't want to have just one place, and then online. I found some family that was living on a boat when you was just starting to gain traction. Wow, that's pretty cool. So we set a goal like, hey, it'd be pretty awesome to live on about someday. And before we really cemented that goal. We thought we should take it for test drive. So in two thousand twelve like I said, five years of the business we were at. Five or six properties at that point, we decided to take a little sabbatical, which started out we're going to take a week off, which that's gonna be vacation. We'll feel like life. It won't be real. Yeah. Let's see two weeks. And then we talk guy, we're talking to let's how about a month. We ended up leaving for three months. And we flew into Trinidad just authentic Waylon sailed all the way through the Caribbean. BVI's US v is Spanish Cleber AL that an ended in San Juan and it doesn't suck. You know as far as a test drive in our travel goal with our family, because we have children now. Cemented in our minds..

"Barnes's interesting one because if you do trade, there's talk that Sacramento is really interested. Evac Inc was still involved with the warriors when they drafted him. And so he's a rumored toys love anyone who's associated with the worst. But I think Barnes actually is someone who could help the kings as a four man of the future. You could play Bagley at the five than in theory. Or maybe even as the three Barnes does have at least some size. I mistake probably would be more likely looking at him as a three, but he could play some four for them. Also. And he's another one of those guys where? Yeah, you know, you might say twenty five million Z worth that is he gonna get that. Maybe not. But he's also that might be a better use of the king's castrates going forward. The only problem is he might say I want to be in Sacramento audio some opting out and try to find a longer. Deal for eighteen million years somewhere fifteen million. I mean, Barnes's his value is going to be interesting. He's not gonna have the same value as in two thousand sixteen for a while. It looked like maybe use the living up to that contract. A little bit the first year. But now, that's no longer the case. He hasn't been shooting. It very well this year, he's got some ice abilities. Okay. Defensive player, but an average guy at that spot probably in. So the twenty five million is going to be a little little rich there. So he he's an instrument when I think it if you were Dallas would you simply just move him for nothing from the king's just get back expiring. Use the kings cap space to take him on, you know, get back kufo sin or Zach Randolph or whoever I think it would that just allows Dallas to try more things in the summer twin nineteen whether it's long term short term. They can just go after a series different options. And Luca is you you have time to figure this out in. I'd like I've mentioned this before from team building perspective having somebody who's, you know, six seven six eight and can handle the ball like you can you can go in different directions. And so. They feel like Harrison Barnes is not a like, he's he doesn't fit super well or he's not a part of their features. Then, you know, be you could throw an extra ten million of, you know, throw flyers somebody whatever you're gonna do. I think it would help. What's Matthews is the other one who really I think could help a lot of teams still an okay shooter. Okay defender he'd look great. I think in affiliate uniform interesting to the Philly, if our filler I might even be interested in like Saleh measury or even like maxi clip. I mean, how good would maxi Cleveland look in affiliate uniform. Right. So now, what's the price there? If you're Philly. I if I were them, I would give up my first round pick, and trade, you know, Mus Scala and Amir Johnson and got I guess Foltz would have to be in the deal on. Yeah. That's that's their problem. They don't but salary metric maybe Wilson Chandler could go back. They probably would wanna keep him. But maybe there's someone else that Dallas is raw through kind of fill that role. But but yet Cleber Dorian finished with me those guys for Philly. Maybe you would even be if you're Philly, you might even like be willing to say Foltz and a I. Four west Matthews finished Smith and Cleopa, and you know, throw in the the matching salary. What do you think of that deal who who is getting more value in that deal? I think Dallas's, but Cleveland is what makes this a lot harder because I really like him and having a finished Smith has been good to shoot a ball in both of those guys have value specifically to Philadelphia because they have low capitals in a restricted free agent..

"Is San Antonio. And I heart radio station. Spurs a balanced attack led by Marco belletti, seventeen off the bench five eleven from the field. Among the starters, fourteen eight for tomorrow to Rosen Rudy gay Rudy's game was a very good one tonight as he was six of eleven from the field. And it was his first game back after he missed five games with a sprained wrist twelve points. Four Bren Forbes on five of nine shooting, eight points for lamarcus Aldridge who settled in most of the evening and six points for Derek Whyte who also added three rebounds and two assists off the bench belt. Let Ali with seventeen fourteen Patty mills who had four threes this evening and twelve points four dollars per ounce or impact player of the game. 'davis hit some shots down the stretch Jaka Pearl came in and played twenty minutes had six points, seven boards and a block shot two points in the ball game. Four Powell Vishal leading the way for Dallas, their rookie sensation Luca Danni, ten of twenty one for the field to of the line twenty five points, eight boards, eight assists, or don't you? Also in double figures. Among the starters, Wesley Matthews at thirteen eleven point eight boards for Harrison Barnes. Maxi Cleber had seven nine points nine boards. Four Andrei Jordan off the bench Dorian Finney Smith at twelve nine for Dwight Powell, Jalen Brunson had six also six points for Dirk Nowitzki and three or Devin Harris that adds up to one zero five of the Spurs one zero one four the Mavericks Mavericks fall to twenty and twenty four now sixteen and six at home. "Comfortable shooting the three Bubby only played eleven today. Hopefully, they'll fund way. To get him. Some more time also another really interesting stat for them before I get into the rations from today's game. Deandre Jordan is twenty six of thirty on free. Throws the season. I mean, what a story that is like as much as we talk about DJ got up eating like an overrated player and actually like defected. He's making. These of us makes him so much more valuable than offense a player not to him. And that's if you think a how often are used to get fouled number one for the hacker did not be an option against him anymore and number two for him. Still to be a guy who draws a fair amount of evolves around the room touch. Just really really impressive. And he's also really been helping offensive rebounding a lot as well in their transition game is a lot better. They actually had one of the better rates in transition coming into this game against the jazz. But the jazz a really good. They took them out of transition pretty well and something else on that. I think has gravity is a real man is really helping out some of their offensive sets because it gives guys a little bit more real estate to work with and something that the. I was watching the jazz broadcast of this game. And they were talking about how Rudy go bear was having to work a lot harder because of that because he he kind of had to fight his own instincts a little bit because he couldn't really leave Jordan as relentlessly as he likes to to really contest shots. So he was getting there a little bit later than he likes, you know, against Dallas. They're not the greatest finishes in the world. So wasn't as catastrophic as it would be against some other teams. But it will it is notable that Jordan kind of in a weird way. Like javale McGee, even though Jordan's way better at this that he just because teams respect what he can do is the romantic Dallas has so many capable passers that he creates value just with his presence and to get to that offense rebounding set coming into tonight eleventh in the NBA offense rebounding twenty five percent, whereas a year ago Dallas was eighteen percent which ranked thirtieth in the NBA the league wide actually offense rebounding his up a little bit. I think teams are actually sending more guys to the glass and also playing in transition a little bit more with a scrambled deepening. It might be a little bit easier to get some offense rebounds. Skipped to a few more observations from this game was started to bleed into Utah. Here continue to think that Maxine Cleber looks great. He had four blocks against the raptors. But he's an excellent finisher around the rim. His three pointer has looked good the season from downtown right now. Cleveland nine out of seventeen on the season and driven for a floater off a close out today. He's got some gravity as a romantic and get up for some dunks on occasion. Then defensively as switch guy. He's been pretty valuable. He's really playing mostly as a four on offense. I'd be very interested to see what he looks like it's the fight. But they also have to white Powell and with Harrison Barnes back. Now, what am I being observations from this game?.

"They don't have any players that you just can't. So I think that's, that's gonna be be the outcome. A lot of those offense of lineups Cleber is is interesting. He's been sensational. You know, he's been really good in preseason sensationalist probably a bit strong, but he's been, you know, relatives by -tations. Yeah. Yes, exactly. Exactly. So, you know, he's, he's been, he's been solid. He's been hitting his threes a little bit. He is actually very good on switches. Something that anytime I talk about him with anyone on the Mavericks they they told me about he's also a shop locker. So he's really a perfect modern big man in the sense that you know he plays center, you can block shots, he's he can hit threes. You can switch on the perimeter and I don't know if he's quite surpassed Dwight Powell and the rotation or will this season. But I do think he's going to push for some of his minutes and just kind of forces way in there. And I think early on when Dirk is entrance, that's that's very easy fix. Just put maxi in where we're would be playing. But overall, I wonder that if this team is fully healthy, maxi still doesn't try to get in there somewhere just because he's been a really effective player. And you know, I think that he's, he's going to be. He's gonna be solid. He's an interesting restricted free agent. The Sosas Neely son into a two year deal. I think it whether to go with him or parliament, he's probably better. Would you say he's better defensively than Paul? Yeah, he's definitely. It's just, yes, just the palace is so good rolling to the rim that I think he still may have the edge there. I remember a game that I went to Golden State lesser kluber, actually guarded Kevin Durant and didn't totally embarrass himself. I think Barnes might have been out that game..
