"Just starting things on What was it like to be traded to bluejays after spending two and a half years plus for years before that insane the Eggo? Initially it was difficult as have any change in life Just accepting that. I'm not going back to where I'll it's capital with and Change profoundly changed her account of everything Paul with that but the organization was so welcoming. The guys were were so good In the clubhouse on the staff that they made the transition pretty seamless and Enjoyable we hear a lot in the media that players don't really WANNA come to Toronto because it's either ten different country or feels really far removed from the other teams. Did you feel any of that? When you retreat it. No No There's clearly some things once you get up there that are law different which is what the currency and those types of issues but nothing as far as the people involved or location or any of that it all went pretty well overall. How did you like playing in Toronto? I enjoyed it. I wish we will play that. I wish I would have played a little bit better healthier but As far as the expanse it was good. You just mentioned your health there. I mean you started the season without even a single star under your belt before getting injured. What were you feeling at that? Point in the season Unfortunately I was coming off. You need surgery offseason. And I think that just push a little bit too much to be ready for that The opening series and Body didn't respond well and had a stress fracture in my shin. Had to take some time off but They did a good job helping me get get back to the point where I eat again. This season obviously the Blue Jays were a rebuilding team but There definitely guys coming up in bow and Kevin that made things different than your standard rebuilding team. How is it playing on the Blue Jays? This season experience because there was so much younger and felt like that doesn't come by very often altogether and so it was pretty cool to kind of witness. Those guys coming into their own big level how advanced they work for how young they are so that was a really cool experience to see them of all and and get used to the big league schedule. Thickly live and everything about that who was going through your head when you were released by the Blue Jays towards the end of the season unfortunately a situation where I was coming off to of injury and kind of understood by usage would be limited because of the health and understood that Where the Blue Jays going? They're looking for. Unfortunately I was not part of that and business. I understand it from the personal side. It's it's disappointing because you form those relationships and work with that group for all season and you see. That was just something. We weren't able to do this. Season was twenty. Nineteen a tougher season than other seasons for. You are some whites Clearly with the performance in the house it was difficult But that being said it provides some opportunities planning Toronto You know Canada a little bit a new organization a lot of great young players so it didn't go how he planned or necessarily want it but it was a good learning experience and something. I'll look back on and and be appreciative of what's next for you. This off season next year Right now currently getting ready to go with team you. Let's say for the Premiere Twelve Baseball Tournament. Which is a qualifier for the Olympics? So I'm pretty excited about that. Opportunity was under Arizona. Pretty soon and we were there for about a week before it started the tournament and Mexico and then eventually going to Japan. So that's that's really exciting. I'm getting mentally and physically prepared for that. And that's that's my next. My next thing going on. I know you spent a lot of time in the National League and you've had quite a few hits under your belt. Omically three home runs so overall. Do you like the National League. The American League better.

"Old baby dot com Fallon seven thirteen seven fourteen limit five yeah he's open the second half of the four nothing victory over the blue jays they combine shut up for doing mon Tommy kingly and Chad green they did it on six hits didn't walk a batter and struck out ten this is the sun wave gas and power Yankees post game show I'm Sweeney Marty let's talk to Susan well below the clubhouse sports brought to you by the New York lottery scratch off games are on sale now try your luck today and you could bring home a win well Susan I think we're all kind of a little worried when dimming Irvine went down one how long you'd be out what he'd be like when he came back I mean he is he barely missed the much time considering what he was dealing with and he's come back just as strong yeah he really hasn't here's kind a couple interesting things as long as you brought up your mind on her mind both phone and I do I do judge both phone and to to mingle about tonight for first raw Erin said this is more of what we saw in the met game and it was better he thought the breaking ball was really good he thought he tired they're a bit at the end but he did a great job now to mingle do not take a vacation in the all star break he went to the Dominican complex the Yankees have and worked out so they did have the side sessions he worked out he did everything is if he was going to pitch the next time and had stayed on schedule because he wanted to be ready for tonight I think I think that's very abreast of of night I think south so we went down and he threw aside session and then I asked him a little more detail and he went down to the the complex he said and where they have coaches and pitching coaches and all that he talked about I hope I'm making an effort to be more economical I know that I want to go as long as I can but I know that if I throw a lot of pictures are going to take me out of the game he said I kept training during the during the break so that I would be ready I wanted my command to be the way it was he thought my fastball hit the commander of fastball curve and change I asked him about working with Gary and what they do when he said because he follows him exactly he does exactly what day I never shake them off it does exactly what he tells me do he said well we certainly go over so much of of reading the batter swings in what they're doing he's very if you talk to him he he really is a very ins ins and insightful about what he's doing they read the swing so they know what again he says Gary is really good at it knowing what they're going how they're setting up and what they're going to do and so he sees that so I pitch accordingly and working the way that Gary wants Tony said that they have they have gotten this really good relationship there I think there is very very interesting rest that he went down instead of you going on vacation went and really worked as if he was still and is not having a vacation because you want to be ready for tonight and he was all the other thing is that Aaron Boone says you know if Severino comes back if if if if they get a whole another pitcher there are so many things that her mind can be used for as we get towards the playoffs unless the only think about these things you can go short with him you can go along with him he can do a few innings he can pitch anywhere because he's got such great stuff and if he does just have that fastball the breaking because that's all you need if you're a lever for a few winning so that even linkedin's it even even more I just look at the game like tonight let's just say you're worried about his innings cal at some point down the road even if pitched four innings Chad green pitch to tonight that's six innings covered rancheros two guys piggy backing could easily Kerry through again that's that's exactly right and I think they are careful I think that's one of the reasons but Erin said there now you know they're both before the game when he is talking about that I think the month that he was off really did a lot of good it's a blessing in disguise I really think so because now you don't have to worry about that not for why you don't have money three hundred twenty five innings last year and they know what the innings limit is they're not saying anything to us but I don't think they have to worry about that for awhile the big hit in this game camp came from a wooden carnassial he's lack to them in his time release it's a big home runs but he was eight for sixty five yeah since the trade entering today got to its today you know I walk past them today and I said hi and wind and he said so I took that as a sign that he was really ready for the second and what we want I don't under I I I don't I okay Erin said we did talk to him about that was it was he smiling or was yeah I mean getting away five you well I think it was just like his greeting for some reason I've listen I've gotten worse stress we all got worse he Erin was talking about and kind of see and he said the at bats have been there he hasn't swung as great as he's going to he thought that he said he's a great presence in this line up he is a really good hitter and just the fact that he's there really makes this line up longer they're really sure he's been saying for Bob you know this is the whole Tampa series he was saying that the at bats are there I see it he's just missing a little bit pitch is that he really that he drives out of the park is just getting a little under it's in the wrong part of the bad by maybe an inch and so they're expecting big things on him maybe they didn't maybe that's it maybe that's only needed the guy that was the of that I do I think that was that was his way of telling me he was gonna have a big game Erin Hicks you talked to on the field you know he's a widely put together good little stretch here from the end of the first half we had the big home run in Tampa which was a big moment for a few minutes but he was he was slow getting out of the game and we weren't sure what he was really getting going and seems like he is well it seems like he is in as he said to me Warren champro and I said nice home run he said it's about time and I think he knows that more than anybody what I like about about an hour and they stick to the plan you heard him talking about how they you know how they talk about what they're going to do and they see things and so by the time they get to the third time around even off a pitcher like Sanchez who by the way was very good tonight until we got third time around they know what they're doing but I like that they he doesn't change his approach is so confident that it is going to work sometimes your mind you know your body takes time to catch up and don't forget he didn't play a lot and everybody was went ahead and went ahead and he's got to play catch up here and I think it's finally starting to he looks like he's much more comfortable I I always think what Jason Giambi always used to say don't worry if I'm getting my walks that means I'm close and that in a in a seat with X. because he always goes deep in the count and he seems to always pretty much have a really good and bad he's not over you know overmatched needs not swinging at bad pitches and eventually if you've got talent that's going to pay off big start for J. happen tomorrow it is indeed and you know it and there's it's sometimes it looks like he's so close and man help put that fastball in the wrong lane and then they own and then things fall apart a little bit I think it was good for him to get away and we'll see and I think they're expecting big things from him in the second half here will turn around quickly into tomorrow morning thank you Susan Yankees beat the blue jays for nothing here they have a one oh five start tomorrow one of five on Sunday J. happened Clayton Richard tomorrow Tanaka in Stroman on Sunday and it's a three game set here to open the second half we got more to come including the highlights of tonight's board of the victory over Toronto this is the sun where gas and power Yankees post game show well the.

"There are so many national media outlets saying that they have all these top prospects that it's very hard. Not to believe everything you're hearing and. Seeing in the minor league boss scores, for example. And that's really fun because we've never had that we've never had a good farm system. Really? I know, you know, Keith law might of rated as I a couple years ago, but that was really based on, you know, the depth of like number four and five starting pitchers not on the entire farm system. Like it is today. And so there's just a whole lot of extended for that reason. We know we we tend not to produce good players for whatever reason we've just been snake bit and with our draft pick. So we've just had bad scouting and place for a very long period of time. So I think you know, we're we're all bullish on the future. Certainly I think where fans start to differ is when that future is realistic. Right. And so this year, we expect to see for not junior who's, you know, the crown jewel of her farm system. Louisiana is already up. We would expect to see Logan Allen. Chris paddock. And some of the pitching prospects come up through the minor league system this year. I think you know, where where the the spending question comes in is, you know, if they're not gonna go after some of these youngest free agent. Who could settlement that core? Guys, like, Manny Machado and Bryce Harper who are twenty six who if you look at the Padres books after two thousand twenty two the only thing they're committed to is Eric hosmer in like, for example, for an entities junior won't even hit arbitration into two thousand twenty three. So there certainly is a lot of financial flexibility. If you're not going to spend on a twenty six year old mega superstar former first overall pick with very long track record of being good already major league baseball. When would you ever spend? And when you decide you want to spend, are, you sure there are going to be players available who are equally good and young that fit. You know, what you're doing long term. I think we struggle with why they're not pursuing that. And also, we look at moves like, I don't know last year signing Clayton Richard to a two year extension signing caz Makita out of Japan this year signing, Ian, Kinzler, you know, the some of these one off moves that they aren't a lot of money, but they don't really make too much sense in the grand scheme of things. I think when you're a team. Expecting to be good. What you're hoping for is to see your franchise at least try to develop players be guys who are post type sleepers last year. Christian Villanueva was a good example, former top hundred prospect, you know, blocked in the Cup system. Why not give him a chance to to play every day? And see what he is..

"Sure. I'm not sure how it was. I think it's the top two vote-getters. Yeah. Because I think in LeBron with a top two voters Jaanus in LeBron on pace to be at this year. Oh, that's taking that'd be really cool. Lebron better pick toy. Now. He's not going. He's a starter. He would pick them number one. But I want you honestly at the first pick in Janas to pick way. Just celebrate gets mad. But then they this. We always wanted. We always wanted to play one less all star game together. There's definitely we wanted to last time each other one last game one les, Dan. I'm honestly surprised that LeBron hasn't gotten out there and promoted Wade as starter a little upset by like that's coming a little upset. Yeah. Made a little bit. Are you shocked at LeBron's hurt right now? It's so weird. This is Warren to me. I don't even believe it. Honestly, just wanted some time off right? I saw a picture yesterday like him Pelinka and Magic Johnson like in the suite watching the game. And it's just like there's three guys in charge. Just like deciding who's going to be on this team late in the season. Kind of feels a little weird to have LeBron not entitled chasing mode. Right. This is not the NBA that I know this is not the tough out in the playoffs though. Because he man, I don't really think. So I I don't don't how think to make them. they gotta make a move. This is I liked LeBron ring chasing. I like LeBron trying to take down the top team. He doesn't stand a chance doesn't seem that chance. And I know maybe he can beat the war. Maybe maybe maybe anybody can beat the warriors considering that's a total mess, but to come out of the west too. I just it's just a bummer. It's a bummer because we're gonna have an NBA finals without LeBron in it it would appear as of right now. And that's going to be bizarre because he's gonna part of every NBA finals since I'm good with it for a year, though. We've had them like we just get a break from him. You're just hired of Hammy. Well, I certainly didn't want to see Cavs warriors anymore. So the dolphins sold don't have a coach right now. It's now it's Florez. Now, he's like the leader and O'Brien floors and it gets down to restart or Flora's. And I can't is it Ricciardi, Richard. I I hear people say different. I've heard Rashard. Yeah. You don't really hear somebody with the last name of just Richard bright? Have you ever? Usually s Richard really? Or is it Richards is an pitcher Clayton Richard not little Little Richard there. There you go. That's the example of someone's last name being Richard. Leslie, do we still have ROY Mond numerals and rob Ickes leftover from yesterday's day. So. So we do. We also got portal news, more portal news. And I am so into this transfer portal, can I get a log in for the transfer portal. Because the portal does exist, right. And we've we've discovered that there's an actual portal that coaches log into and say, oh, he's available. Yeah. Can I get a log in can somebody like like a Netflix? Password me, there's different versions of it. 'cause Jalen hurts is in the portal, definitely transferring this what's his name tape. Mark mardell from Ohio State. He's in the portal. But he hasn't officially said he's leaving Ohio State teams can talk to him and show their interest. But he hasn't officially said he's leaving transfer portal. You we are we had a horrible recruiting season. Right. But we are killing this transfer portal. Have you seen that bubble? Bolden play by the way, where he jumps over the line on a few kicks the ball to himself and then picks it up and scores a touchdown above a bulletins and absolute freak it looks really illegal that play. But it's very. It's one of those like Under Armour game. It looks like there are no rules that I what was going on at this high school that bubble. Bolden was at because him and Bredon Jordan were high school teammates, and they are freakish athletes is that one of your rob Ickes, Google Google buttonholed hold in blocks field goal. If you haven't seen this play because it's ridiculous. You back..

"Congress will be sworn in today. And hopefully that'll mean some movement in the stalemate end the government shutdown, but let's get into all of it with our Republican Senator Cory Gardner on the live line. Good morning. Good morning. Happy new year to you happy new year as well. I think we could stop saying that to our guest now. But you're you're the final one. So yesterday, the president was asked how long is this government shutdown going to last he said it could end very quickly or it could go on a long time. What's your feeling about how long this could go? Well, I I hope this ends today. I think we need to get this government funded open and running I think it should be something Republicans and Democrats can agree to and I've supported measures to do just that. Let's get this open today. The wall is just become really kind of a symbol to some degree Senator but two things can. Be true. There's an immigration problem, and you all need to work legislatively to fix it. But secondarily, a walls not gonna solve the problem. Well, we've heard from border patrol and others that they would like a wall in areas where it makes sense. I think the wall has become in the president's words other things then a wall that's new judges. That's roads, just something he talks about. But I think we need is to go back to some common sense that was around this place. Just six months ago six months ago, I was a part of a bipartisan effort that would have provided twenty five billion dollars in funding for border security and also addressed a mini elements of our broken immigration system that had Republican support had Democrats support. That's the kind of commonsense solution that we ought to be pushing for that could end this government shutdown today. Well, last week had VP Mike Pence offering two point five billion as he was trying to negotiate with Democrats that might have been something they would go for. But then it seems like what the president is doing is always a moving target. And that makes it difficult to nail him down. Well, I think the I think they would still take two point five billion or even less than that. I've heard an offer has been made around one point six billion dollars by the president vice-president. Look, I was instrumental in helping to get the administration talking to Chuck Schumer when nobody seemed to be talking to each other. I'm going to continue to push for that look we need border security, but we also have to have a competent government. And that's our priority is to make sure that we have both. And it's also the sliding scale the wall to it's not a wall. Now, it's offense. Now, it's this. I mean to some degree, and I say this respectfully does the president think that some of the populous is just not bright enough to understand necessarily what's going on. It's just easier just kind of pushing they're moving the goalposts time. Well, what I've understood for some time. Now is the president. When he talks about a wall is this goes back to our debate that we had there we had that twenty five billion dollars for the wall and the immigration reforms that had Republican and democrat support is included roads along the border that were needed for for security for border patrol that included hundreds of new judges that were needed to. Process immigration cases, that it did indeed include additional border security devices, including electric and physical barriers. So, you know, I think in his in his mind, he tries to talk about these in different words, meaning all of the above. But you'd have to ask him for his exact definition. My thought is simply this. Let's get the government open. Let's border security. I voted for a clean resolution to do just that. Let's get this work done. We keep calling him. And he won't take our calls. So thousands of Democrats take control of the house today. Do you feel like things can still get done that there are bipartisan things you can agree on the next few months? I certainly do. I'm looking forward to working with our new colleagues. Congratulations to congressman elect a crow and congressman looking to goose only a couple more hours until they're full fledged two congressman so excited for their leadership and opportunities coming ahead. "So in a sense, I think this is. Mostly a full rebuild from the Mariners standpoint. But it's also a rebuild where they have opted to try to. I think we've talked about skip skip the the middle stage just being dreadful, and it will be interesting to see if that works because it would be kind of a I think preferred new sort of tanking if you will you wouldn't necessarily really be tanking, and it would be I think better for the health of the game. If teams are able to sort of rebuild quicker. Indie don't have to worry so much about that like five year process that that teams talk about. So it'll be interesting to see if it works. I can't promise it it's going to work for a variety of reasons that they have to do more things than just the players on the roster player development than other considerations to to maintain. But it is interesting now that the Mariners are going to move forward, and he will presumably be better than the Rangers in that vision. And I know you you look at the team. This is a team that's traded away a lot of talent. But it hasn't become I don't think it's become like a dreadful. Baseball team. So at least for the first time in a while Merida's fans will for the for what eighteen times in eighteen time eight years to watch that isn't gonna play offs. But the first time in a while. I think you you'll be able to watch him and think oh this actually it's something to have hope for the we'd worked watch for this season and season after that in the season after that because for so long it's felt like, oh, we're just trying to scrape by while while we can't before we drive off the cliff, and at least they have reshuffled which school. So when bit of banter that I think we have to include. There was some news about former effectively weld guest Oliver, Drake. Overtake just couldn't get out of two thousand eighteen without one more designated for assignment. So the number thirty Jay's the F aid him, and that was as a result of what the Clayton, Richard signing. And he was the odd man out and we had over on episode thirteen four fund interview, you can go back and listen to it less than a month ago. We were all hoping that the musical chairs that team said been playing with him all year had finally come to stop. But no he was delayed for the seventh and final time in twenty eighteen. We don't know yet where he will end up. He will end up somewhere. But hopefully, Pete got it out of his system, and and it's all behind them and this will not follow him into twenty nineteen. But man, I thought maybe it was over. But it was not over. And I guess in keeping with old themes because it's been a little while I wasn't paying a whole lot of to baseball during the holiday break. But I will say I don't know if you've noticed, but I have noticed Fuego to Williams SDS page on MLB dot com. And you look at his last ten days in the Venezuelan Wimbley. He's forty forty-one times. And he has fourteen hits three forty one. He has to walks zero strikeouts and five home runs Williams s to do five home runs the last week and a half. He's up to ten in the winter. I think I don't know exactly where that puts them in the leaderboard. But last I checked the leader was dumb and young who's leading with sixteen. So Williams s to do who we love for his opposite of three two outcomes, basically zero true outcomes he is second in Venezuela. Winnable in home runs.
