On the beltway, the inner loop looking like after route one in college park may be where the mobile work crew is, they are along the left side, outer loop is still a little heavy on the top side coming past 29 colesville road and an inner loop delay headed toward Connecticut. Then the outer loop slows from old Georgetown road and off the southbound two 70 spur, headed toward the American legion bridge. Now we do have a major backup on the westbound Ellis connector road coming from 66 headed toward one 23 and the beltway watch for the work along the left side. Eastbound 66 near the beltway, the crash reported in the center of the roadway, and eastbound old bridge wrote at one 23 the wreck reported on the right side, northbound one 23 near 50, that crash was along the right side. On the George Washington Parkway delays remain northbound headed past the scenic overlooks with a single lane getting you by the work. If you're going to northbound on two 70 in Maryland, it is stop and go beyond clarksburg past one O 9 and jammed up to the diversion at route 80 urbana. That's where traffic is taken off. Interstate two 70 and set over to Maryland three 55. Two 70 is closed to northbound traffic between exits 26 and 31 between route 80 and route 85 for the dumb truck crash at flipped over, took out a chunk of guardrail and concrete wall for a bridge that takes the interstate over baker valley road. This is an extended closure on the north end of two 70, southbound traffic gets by slowly. Two 70 in Montgomery county is not so bad this afternoon. I think a lot of folks are making alternate plans given the advance notice of this closure, this hour's long closure of two 70 up in Frederick. 95 and the Baltimore Washington Parkway between the beltway is still slow in many stretches. And on the capitol beltway, it is still quite slow. Through Maryland and Virginia, perhaps slowest in Alexandria on the outer loop. They went looking for a crash between route one and the Wilson bridge. There are a collection of vehicles on the right shoulder of the local lanes, but I'm not sure if they actually found the crash they were looking for. It's been heavy for hours yet as Friday's off and are on this part of the beltway and on the ital loop from route 7 tysons across the legion bridge on the outer loop off the spur. And on 66 westbound in a cedarville, but there is a crash eastbound in centerville near 28, and along with a work zone, it appears the right side is blocked, although it's not visible in camera. 50 fairfax boulevard, westbound west of one 23, very slow with heavy Friday traffic into the long-term work zone, one right lane gets by. Westbound leaving 7 corners of caller finding a crash on Arlington boulevard just beyond annandale road along the left side, 95 and three 95 between Fredericksburg and Washington, volume delays, but without incident. And on the ITER loop through green belt toward Maryland four 50, the crash happened on the right side there, a vehicle fire getting extinguished on central avenue, westbound before Largo road two O two, traffic was held westbound on central avenue. Only brief delays at the bay bridge, in Virginia, long volume delays in the beltway, and 95 heavy on the interloop from tysons and route 7 to the legion bridge on the outer loop from Springfield to the Wilson bridge. And on 95, southbound through Stafford and northbound passed Dale City into woodbridge 66 westbound heavy off the beltway and from 50 audit off through centerville, three 95 into D.C. still heavy across the 14th street bridge, but the crash on the southeast Southwest freeway is clear near the air force memorial in Arlington a stretch of two 44 Columbia pike remaining closed because of utility work. As of about three minutes ago at a call to M dot all northbound traffic still diverted onto route 80 through urbana three 55 at capacity with interstate traffic as the alternate route three 55 southbound traffic on two 70 does get by. But southbound in Montgomery county still heavy and slow from 28 Rockville past the montrose road overpass, the tow truck is still working, the crash, but right this very second, they're pulling away with both damaged vehicles and reopening the southbound lanes of two 70, right? This very second southbound all lanes are open. South of montrose road. I 95, several crashes reported between the beltways, northbound near one 98, the left lanes are blocked, southbound, near 32, a crash with at least one outside lane blocked, and another one reported southbound south of two 16. All of them are leading to some degree of delay, and its volume delays in the Baltimore Washington Parkway, but without any crashes between the two beltways, 50 at the bay bridge, only brief delays. In Virginia, on the ITER and outer loop, slow traffic from Tyson's to the legion, and from Springfield to the Wilson bridge, 66 westbound heavy through fair lakes, et cetera hill, 95, lots of slow traffic between the beltway and Fredericksburg, especially slow through Stafford county. It is better getting into D.C. inbound on three 95 with the crash on the southeast Southwest freeway near the third street tunnel clear back in Arlington though a stretch of Columbia pike remains closed near the air force memorial because of utility damage. Stay two to the right to get by response to said crash. D.C. two 95 it's a work on your jam southbound, getting past eastern avenue to burrows avenue in a single lane. And on the Virginia side, we've got events happening slowing you in manassas. They've closed 28 north, which is center street right through the heart of manassas for the October fest. And through the heart of fairfax, you've got one 23 and Main Street and all connecting streets as well. And this is for their fall festival. To the district events are also closing Pennsylvania avenue and constitution from 7th to third for the snallygaster fest. And we also have an event. It is eastern high school's homecoming, closing portions of east capital street, 19th sea street all around Lincoln park, and that is through noon today. Sarah, a couple of main concerns at this hour, let's start two 70 out in clarksburg. This between the clarksburg and hides down exit have the left side blocked at one point. It's also got the right side block the right shoulder that is, there is a state trooper on the scene. However, the damage is done as far as the delay, your delay is going to start, once you get past urbana, and it's going to take you all the way through hyatts town. It'll pick up a bit and then you're in good shape as you make your way to 70, down to the capital beltway. We do have some delays on the beltway. If you're on the outer loop, you're going to see delays right around the temple there as you have to pass George avenue and that delay is going to be pretty much car to car back to back until you get past one 85 Connecticut avenue. And then you're in pretty good shape there on the inner loop. You're going to see delays that will start. Let's see here, past the American legion bridge, and it'll take you up until you get just past one 85 as well. So you've got some heavy volume through that area outside of that, you're in pretty good shape. An earlier problem spot in the area of two ten, this is on the local side of things on the capitol beltway has been cleared. Things are in better shape there. On the Virginia side, 95 southbound in the area of one 60 of disabled vehicle has been cleared out. In annandale, Columbia pike, both ways in the area back Lake road and earlier crash had all lanes blocked, things appear to be moving through that spot once again. In rest in an earlier crash, baron Cameron avenue in the area of Reston Parkway. Again, that should be cleaned up at this point also. It looks like we've got another problem spot going back to I 70. This west found in the area of Hagerstown, right before U.S. 40 all traffic stopped, all lanes have been blocked due to a crash there, you want to watch for the police response, also some slowing through that area. One crash we had beyond university boulevard out of the way, but in prince George's county slow around the interloop from green belt and lay on them into landover. We had not one, but two broken down vehicles between route 50 and two O two both of them stole down in the left center lane. The second lane from the left, I should say, on the ITER loop. Outer loops and rubber necking. At the bay bridge, still no two way traffic, eastbound drivers limited to two lanes. Baltimore, Washington Parkway open inside the beltway, unlike yesterday during the storms, but there's a lot of cleanup ongoing. College park, route one is still closed between campus drive and Lakeland drive. A portion of one 93 near woodmore and lots for a road remaining closed. More road is also closed between one 93 and church road one 97 and buoy was closed at points between old chapel road and racetrack road in that wind swath. In Virginia, southbound on three 95 slow from duke street through the Springfield interchange and off the beltway to go south on 95. The truck stopped along with response along the left side of the main line, near Lake barcroft, Columbia pie closed eastbound east Braddock road for water main break, and west George Mason and fairfax, it's a work zone and Braddock road, westbound traffic, only has one lane open near Shirley gate road. "See a reduction in services including emergency care and surgeries Other rural states would be similarly affected forcing some vets to travel long distances In 2018 Congress passed legislation calling for an audit of VA facilities Senator Joe Manchin and others say the recommended changes that came out of that audit ignore the reality's most veterans face The recommendations have been based on faulty data taking during a pandemic Anything that came out of that pandemic people were not in the right frame of mind And that's not giving our veterans a fair shake When you're doing it in the most trying times and saying what do you think about this this or this That's mentioned at a town hall event this week speaking to veterans He and a group of bipartisan senators have introduced a bill that would wipe out the commission that is supposed to oversee these proposed changes That panel is known as air For some time Manchin and other lawmakers have worried rural veterans would pay the biggest cost Now that we finally have the VA recommendations to the air commission turns out that we were right Jack Gerard is a Vietnam vet from clarksburg West Virginia He says he's concerned about job losses at VA facilities as well as travel times And most importantly just getting access to the care he and his fellow vets need If we let this happen now who knows what they're going to cut down the road like Gerard mentions as he's worried about private healthcare providers being equipped to handle the specialized care veterans require I don't know how they think by closing any of our facilities that the hospitals and clinics are going to be able to take care of our veterans and they don't have that experience Although the air commission has yet to be fully seated mentioned says he's committed to getting rid of it before it has an opportunity to implement the recommendations For NPR news I'm Dave mischief in clarksburg West Virginia.

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings For Parts Of Washington, DC Area
"Severe thunderstorms popping up in central Maryland. Let's go to storm Team four meteorologist Matt Ritter News era. It is an isolated thunderstorm, but it is a severe is produced some wind damage near the city of Frederick a short time ago. The latest severe thunderstorm warnings in effect has been extended southeastward from the city of Frederick, affecting northwestern Howard County, South Central Carroll County. In North Central Montgomery County and the rest of southeastern Frederick County stated until 6 15. Now there's AH, one area particular of concern very close to Newmarket and Green Valley. Parts of Maryland route 75 there where there might be inch diameter Hail falling right now on some of those locations, a cz Wella some 60 mile per hour wind gust, causing some tree damage in that area. But as for the city of Frederick itself, it looks like there's just some light showers and some lightning left over. Right now from the storm areas that are affected by the extended severe thunderstorm. Warning include Damascus in Clarksburg are Bana Woodfield. Layton's Ville Sunshine extends down to Montgomery Village basically kind of parallels Georgia Avenue route 97 up into parts of South Central Carroll County near the Sykesville area, just to the north north of a brook, Phil, and only again, this warning continues until 6 15 as the storm continues to move to the Southeast. And about 20 MPH. So if you're in those areas that I just mentioned to be ready, you'll probably be getting this severe thunderstorm in the next 15 to 20 minutes. There's some non severe thunderstorms. Heavy showers in parts of extreme northern Loudon County right now, not much else happening in the district for the time being or in the rest of Maryland. But we'll keep an eye on things as it continues to be a very warm and very humid day. Again. Not that severe thunderstorm warning continues until 6 15 will have the full storm team for 40 forecast coming up the next weather on the eight Sarah.

"Of veterans affairs confirms it is investigating investigating more than one suspicious death now at a medical clinic for veterans in clarksburg west virginia at least one case has already been ruled a homicide west virginia public broadcasting's.
