"Obvious you and obviously you can't get a bubble right now. It's too late for that, and the players didn't agree to it at the beginning. You know what the players would agree to A bubble for the playoffs. Because in the playoffs You can't postpone games and wait around for a team to find out if they have the virus or not, that messes up the entire schedule. So the Yankees were in the play offs, and one of their players gets the virus and I was going to remove the Yankees in the playoffs. But then you gotta wait for a couple days to get all the results back. And who knows? If you know the symptoms pop up on a guy I might take a couple of days, the incubation period they call it. So a bubble is the only way for MLB to do the playoffs safely and have a responsible post season that we won't look at and go. Asterisk doesn't count. You can't have the Cardinals. If they were to make the playoffs, hypothetically. Go another 19 days without playing like they've gone here. They have in place is July 29th. August 15th. So it's just yet another reminder for Rob Manford, Tony Clark, Major League Baseball. To come together and get a bubble in place. It's worked for hockey. Obviously worked for the N ba. A bubble would be the only way To successfully guarantee you'll get the baseball season accomplished. And if you're the major league owners You should want it. Because the players get paid in the regular season. Owners make their money from the TV contracts of the play offs from Turner. From Fox from ESPN. That's where they make their money. So this cardinal stories concerning but right now it's only one player. But it's just yet another reminder that there should be a bubble for the playoffs. And if that bubbles in L A or southern California I think that makes the most sense. The Dodgers, the Angels. There's two stadiums right there. You can play games. Not too far down the road. When the Padres play in San Diego. Or as I like to refer to it as Santiago. So you could play games at Peco Angel Stadium. That shit misery. Chavez. Ravine at Dodger Stadium. I could put a bubble there, plus You have 18 from each league making the playoffs first round's a best of three, So you're going to be able to eliminate a team's pretty quickly. From the bubble. So logistically. I don't think if that overwhelming to have to deal with 16 teams for First week you're trying to gear up for the playoffs. So the story that I saw with the Reg is concerning, but we're not there where it's full blown outbreak yet. Hope would be Teams took the protocol seriously in this case, the Reds and that one player who's infected. Maybe he's asymptomatic. Or maybe as mild symptoms, But he didn't interact with his old teammates wasn't high fiving and touching and Who knows what goes on behind closed doors. See, baseball can only do so much here. It's on the players themselves to be responsible when they're away from their teams. Go Look what the Indians have gone through with that police sack. Mike Levinger. They optioned them. So the alternate site they got options off the team. And they didn't even test positive for they went out about got caught lied to their teammates. Tried to blame the media for putting their name through the mud, which is a joke. And the Indians voted, even though they didn't contract the virus. The Indians held a meeting and voted to send them to the alternate site. Players didn't want him in the clubhouse. So it's on the team's players and coaches to take the protocol seriously. And the hope would be this Reds player that tested positive is the on ly one and then the Reds could get back to playing by Monday. Take the weekend off. Come back Monday. You could make the game's up with a seven inning double header. That's the hope. The problem is You could do this in the regular season. You can't do this when you get to the playoffs. You can't. You cannot do this when you get to the playoffs. So the hope would be that you get the bubble in place. Just as the MBA in the NHL did. And baseball could resume its its season in a bubble like environment in Southern California. I don't think doing it in New York makes much sense. I don't think doing it in Chicago makes much sense. I understand you had to ballpark there as well. But Go somewhere where the weather is Nice, right? New York doesn't have a dome at Citi Field or at Yankee Stadium, Wrigley and whatever they call them where the White Sox play doesn't have a dome. Doesn't have a retractable roof. You play in l A in October is beautiful. Dodger Stadium Angel Stadium. San Diego. That should be the spot of the bubble, and Manford and Tony Clark should be working together to get a baseball bubble put together. Later on in the show. Richard Justice from MLB dot com Long time baseball columnist. He's going to be joining us, So I asked him about the bubble. I'm sure he would agree. The smartest thing to do would be a bubble. My question to Richard would be how feasible Is putting a bubble in place. 802 242004 is the number If you want to weigh in on this very topic in the next segment, we're going to talk about the ladies would college football. How the Biden-Harris ticket will impact the 2020 race

"Joe Biden's choice of Camilla Harris as his running mate is being met with excitement and hope from many women in and around Sacramento. KP CASE Joe Michaels joins us Live in studio with more Oh Bill Bynes decision to add California's junior senator to the 2020 Democratic ticket brings a smile to the face of the only woman currently sitting on Sacramento City Council Councilwoman Anjali Gash be calling the choice, exciting seeing yourself reflected in leaders. Is just so empowering, not just for young people, but for all people. Women have never seen themselves in the Oval Office. In the White House. Never so to see a woman actually get to vice president of the United States of America would tell women and girls everywhere that it is possible and it is possible in our lifetime. Kendra Montgomery Block of the Sierra Health Foundation, is pleased to finally see an African American woman chosen as the running mate of a major party's presidential candidate as a black woman, how we are constantly looked upon as the backbone of the entire country, and in doing so So making sure that you have not only just a seat at the table, but a voice at the table means a lot in our democracy, and Camilla represents that voice, not only for us before the people Montgomery Clark believes Harris will also serve as a rule model for young African American girls. You always want to be able to look at folks and say, Hey, that's a path that I could take two And now that's incredibly connected to black women, Indian women and two women of color that we can take this path that we can build strong families, built strong education connections and then be able to take on top leadership role in this country. Councilwoman Ashby says Harris is well prepared for the opportunity. This isn't choosing a woman for the sake of choosing a woman. He was a candidate for the presidency herself. She's been the senator for California. She's been attorney general. She's been a D E A. There's no doubt that she's qualified to do this job. Ashby understands the possibility that Harris could be polarizing and doesn't out W naysayers were choosing the next president and vice president, United States of America. We get to look at them through a critical leads, but we need to look at them through balanced lenses, and that is what the people of this country are asking for. So many ways through protests through support of candidates. The things that you're hearing is a nation that just wants equity in its decision making. They want to see women and men have equal opportunity they want to see people of every race have equal opportunity. When you look at American history, it's been a long time in coming. From the women's suffrage movement that ultimately gave women the right to vote 100 years ago this month of the civil rights movement aimed at ending racial discrimination to 2020 when an African American woman now stands as the running mate of a major party's presidential candidate,

Scammers Are Using the Coronavirus to Steal Your Info

"There's been a big uptick. In scam activity during coronavirus, I give you one key example you should be aware of. People are getting. What are called pretexts which are emails? Tax or phone calls. That are bill collection notifications saying that you didn't pay this bill that bill the other bill whatever. And people are a little discombobulated now and you may have had trouble staying current with your bills or just emotionally you're not yourself and so scamsters are taking advantage of that and trying to get money out of you falsely for bills you don't know. And the way a pretext works is many times they impersonate. A big organization and you'll be taken to if you get a taxed or an email, you'll be taken to a website that looks a dental to the organization you do business with. And the criminals are able to do a lot of things they get you to sign into your account which give some access to information you don't want them to have. And if you pay money, you're ending up paying money to the crooks not to the reorganization. The worst part is usually you don't owe money to that would gentlemen organization But you're kind into believing you do

Chaotic start to school year

"Well, we have a very odd school year. It's underway in some parts of the country. Other places won't even be underway till after Labor Day, but it is haphazard and. To call it, weird would not encompass it. Producer Joel has to school age kids and what's your kids story as far as their school. So they pushed back the start date for for two weeks of school in the first nine weeks are going to be virtual learning. And your kids are young young. So virtual learning at. Their age five, seven years old. That's right. Yeah. It's GONNA be. It's GonNa be Kinda hard to do the virtual learning thing You know we did my my five year old was in pre k. last year, and you know when they when they stopped going in person, we basically abandoned the online learning pretty quickly because for four year old to try to learn in front of a computer is is darn near impossible. Unless, it was a cartoon video, right exactly and I have a ninth grader, a high schooler who for now is going back into the classroom and they have a color coded system that I talked about a few weeks ago, which is yellow orange and red red is online. Only yellow is in the classroom four days a week in person orange two days a week in person, and they're starting off at yellow four days a week, and they are doing extreme distancing of the kids hundred percent mass compliance. And it is. Everything, they could do to try to deal with the public health side, my daughter, who is a college junior. Her school. Is Online, only all the way at least till January and I. Can tell you, she hated online march, April and May. And It was a terrible way to finish her sophomore year, and now she's got it all fall long as a college junior. They did cut the tuition though four percent. Still a crazy amount of money. But they gave a small tuition reduction. For the fact that is online. and. So this is something all of us are going to experience. It's going to keep changing. A suburb of Atlanta, that was much in the news nationally actually internationally for starting back school with no mass required no distancing required and immediately ended up with an outbreak of corona virus, and now is online only till they figure out what to do next. and. So this is hard for parents. especially, anytime, family lives in a multi generational household with grandparents living under the same rule. Roof is a school age. Grandkids is an intensely dangerous thing. If GRANDKID BRINGS CORONA virus from school and gives it to a grandparent in the house, the fatalities from Corona virus overwhelmingly had been among older Americans, and so the schools will benefit the most and the kids benefit the most from being in the classroom. But the teachers many of which may have a pre existing condition or endanger, and that's why having public health protocol for the kids is so important, but it's also important because. Preventing an outbreak in the school allows the school potentially to stay in person where it cannot otherwise. So. I. Hope that. We're able to keep our kids in school people like me who are fortunate to have at least one kid gets to go back in the classroom, but for this to work going forward. The safety protocols have to come first. So teachers staff. Administrators. Are, as safe as they can be in the school environment and that the kids coming home. Keep their. Family, members safe. That kids are not just like Joel's. Young, child, was not able to. Hang with the online thing, a lot of kids can't, and then other kids don't even have Internet access and can't do so.

Gold and precious metals have been on a tear

"If you were a gold bug. This is your time. Gold has been around or above or near record level prices for us several weeks now and. Gold is always a safe haven. In Times of uncertainty, distress or fear. And you think about it right now, we have all three of those things going on not just in the United States, but around the world. And so you gotTa whist you know a lot of people worried about. The US and China. Getting tangled up in ways that are unintended that could be violent. And People. Worry about the big budget deficits, we have people worry about what corona virus is. GonNa do in terms of meaningful long term damage to our economy and others overseas, and anytime, you can come up with a list like I just did that probably cause anxiety and you just while I was lying it out. People, run to things like gold and silver, and platinum and. Various Forms. Of Precious. Metals. As a place to kind of hide out. There are also people that are true gold Blah. Bugs who believe that gold is the answer to every investment question. Goes. It's is something you can actually hold and have. And know that it's there for you through thick or thin. So, as I've said all through the years. Gold something that is a hedge as with the silver and other precious metals be. and. So having them is part of what you're about is fine. you can have gold precious metals is a reasonable portfolio. If you've got assets somewhere around ten percent of what you invest in remember gold doesn't really serve any purpose other than as a proxy for store. Of value, there's some amount gold that's used in jewelry, but the reality is gold is much more about. You having something. that. is a place for you to have some comfort. Reduce your levels of anxiety and maybe certain times make money. But gold being and record territory. Even if records keep being broken over the next many months you're buying at a time that gold is already had a huge runup. So putting too much store into gold. go back just. Gosh Oh what a year and a half ago or something gold was nearly half the value that it is today. People who hold it over time as a percent of their portfolio. Ride, up and ride the down. But if buy now you're buying, ask time peak anxiety. And somewhere likely and the range of. Peaking. Territory. Even though again, it could go up a fair amount from here the odds are. That the best days of holding it as a speculative thing or over, and so it needs to be part of a strategic way of thinking with money and it is true. We can put together any of us. Can put together a list of things to worry about right now and raise our anxiety level. And although the world always has a certain amount of things to be anxious about. Well, right now has a little bit more. But the thing is. The real money and value over time is made as an investor. In things that people produce ideas, products, goods, services of various types. In Gold. Just sits there even costs money to do something with it to store it safely. So I got no problem with you being into this a little bit. I've got lots of problems with you. "Americans love. Renting storage facilities. And it's something that the whole rest of the world shakes it's heads at because we have. Every square footage per person residential space that is the largest in the world the average size of a house has gone up so much over the last two generations even though the number of people per household has gone way down. But at the same time in addition to our places we live, we have all these self storage facilities and there are any of a number of reasons why we would have them. The industry historically has. Rented to people who are going through some kind of life change a relocation some as passed away could be a, you know a family splitting apart. There there are a number of reasons why people might rent a storage facility in addition to just having to might stuff and they store it. Well. One of my kids recently was. Considering renting a storage facility for six months and. Shopped around and found such differences from one location to another it was a stunner. And then. The places would not leave her alone. Once, she had contacted someone they were desperate. To have her rat. And we're offering all kinds of discounts and deals in free months and I was what's going on? Well. It turns out the big issue is the industry's gotten too big. According to industry data than number of storage places has gone up twenty five percent in about a ten year period and you look all around. Urban and suburban areas around the country in you see these much bigger storage facilities being built and many times at prime corners where they're visible Wada Times freeway exits, and so the industry has outgrown itself and then I I saw an eight M in the new. York Times. That Corona virus has made a difference and they don't really explain why they think corona virus has made a difference. My guess is that people are shopping less I mean one of the reasons people buy so much stuff is that we have historically had the greatest amount of retail square footage in the world three times larger per person than any other country in the developed world. So we Aben. Shopaholics, and is shared with you over the last several months. The amount of shopping doing has been going down down down. So if you have a storage facility. The you're renting at. I know it's a hassle to move your stuff. But go re shop what you're paying. You'll find potentially a much lower prices than what you're currently paying. You can go back to the people you're renting from and say, Hey, I'm going to bail on you because I found a deal. You know right down the street for half of what you're charging. And odds are they can't afford to lose you. And they'll offer you a deal to keep you

Elliot Seguin: Test Pilot

"Did you get an aviation? grew up in a flying family My Dad had assessment semi to for most of my childhood than than I guess when I was pretty young for remember you bought a swift and we had swift grown up in that timeframe when you start getting into get into cars, 'cause you WanNa get into girls He's hot rod out at swift. He put a big motor in it and set some records with and. It was the perfect sendoff to will not playing with Clark's. Their place instead. That is awesome and you've had a great career after a growing up aviation as an engineer being a part of a lot of special programs aviation. How did you progress into a professional aviation career? yes. So The big thing was me and you he he was a pilot but just for So it was a big thing in the family that for me to even think about making money with aviation I didn't really have a good model for that. So establishing that model really came down to two guys. One was my uncle Berle who was a mechanic and the other was a guy named Dave Grohl who restored A spearman's and t six is just down the road from the airport where I learned to ride my bicycle. So between those two guys, they sort of established that model for how you could. Use Airplanes to to make your money rather than just spend it, and that's that the sugar trajectory that led to the rest of it. That is awesome. So l. it you have a really cool company name was Sabi flight test was Sabi erasing how did that name come about? Yeah. So we're enough we were eating Sushi right No, but So we we did come up with the name eating Sushi. We were looking for a name for the for the race plane are we had bought our cast it project that happened to be green and I was looking for a name that would tie the the color of the airplane to the branding and would also fit well on the side of the airplane. Right there's like that aspect ratio between the. Pilot's seat back bulkhead in the front of the Horizontal Stab, you WanNa kind of that space efficiently as possible So between that and you know having a lot of. It was going to be fun for fun to say this is a really engineering response. Sorry about that. But that was where we came up with with Sabi unfortunately now, we're stuck with it so. So tell us a little bit that company. Yeah. So I think you Kinda Kinda. Talk about Michael Brawl in in Dave right back in. Michigan. Right and so you sort of like I'm GonNa make money with aviation like what does that look like you're trying to figure out like how to set those sites right sort of doing bookwork get engineering degree like how's it all add up to what end up in in Muhabi at scaled right so quickly that that Idea becoming an engineer on aviation engineer on airplanes to like like, can you fly like what it's like test like that's like a really exponential curve right? We go from like WHOA can I make money with airplane to like oh? Wow. Like Mike Millville is like a high school trained like NPR slash astronaut that is the coolest thing ever, and how do you like do that right? Well. It turns out like other people coming up with that same thing at the same time. So there was like a handful of us at scale and really at the Mojave airport that we're all sort of competing for like you know who was GonNa the the visualization was that. Somebody was going to have to sit in the right seat of those spaceship flights somewhere between like yeah. Melville was going to get the first flight you know Pete or whatever but it was gonna be some flights before customers were in the right seat in the back seat and that Steve was gonna you know some get bored and they were going to put someone there and you would have a chance to be an astronaut supersonic all reversible controls rocket engine like everything flying the world's greatest Hondo. So, creating a path to make yourself competitive for that in this environment like mojave work for spaceship one before they should wonder but voyageur Mohammed was desolate. There was nobody really after spatial won the place got like flooded with talent. So. There's all these guys that are buying for my spot. I want that spot, right so I go to work as hard as I can all day but the other day there's slow there's time left the end of the day. What am I gonNA, do with it, and that's where we saw became came down to right. So whether it was with air racing or helping a friend developed with a platform whatever I can subsidize my flight test activities with a full time job, and then ideally I don't have to. Be With the Siren headed like design the airplane builder my wife working you know basically two fulltime jobs to get things done as you move to where you're doing that more and more professionally like just not happening to build the airplane is such a huge benefit independent of whether or not I get paid or not right. So if you can use that full-time job to subsidize the back end, that's where it was Sabi allows me to build that resume that hopefully makes me competitive remember you know the the sort of the end of the the civilian test pilot dream scale was when they started bringing in More and more military trust train test pilots, right military test pilot right and it's two million bucks to make him a fighter pilot. Then you drop another million to two million to make him a test pilot that's what you're competing with as a civilian, right so high, you get that experience. So I have to like give away my time at least I didn't have to build all those airplanes to get the experience and that's what the the basis of Assab years. Right. I have to make a silly youtube video or do some engineering build an airplane whatever it is to the flight test experienced resume because that's First of all sort of unforgettable experience in second ball. That's what we're passionate about. So so that's You're

"Clark i am shocked and dismayed that you use foam shaving cream and cartridge razors these unnecessary value added disposable products are many times more costly than shave soap and a safety or straight razor shaving a crump safety razor last several lifetimes and 99 cent bars good for fifty to one hundred lawmakers and a 10cent blade with two sides good for nearly as many shaves dollar shave how about the nickel shave time to enjoy the manly savings of shaving like your grandfather clark the results are better too all right we have had so many posts about uh people wanted me to use the safety razors but i can tell you that i would cut myself disposing in one and putting in another blade yes they are incredibly cheap and it works very well and on the shaving cream i have a confession most days i shave with no shaving cream no so nothing i shave with hot water in that i'm not using any thing at all to shave with and that all came about in the aftermath of the terrorist attack so many years ago and then the limit about what size liquids you could take in your carryon and i started learning to shave with those little conditioner bottles in hotels and then i was in a hotel one time didn't have any shampoo conditionally those little bottles and i shave just water and was like oh this works to two in so i don't use a lotta shaving cream but safety razor thing i'm just too afraid i'd slice my hand up the other day i heard you recommend someone used trip adviser to verify the quality of a hotel they were booking via a discount website at a minimum travelers should be checking to review sites personally i never used trip adviser it's deleting reviews warning other travellers about places that are also trip adviser advertisers in some cases post about very serious issues and then they linked to a story from npr people need to understand that review websites primary obligation is to their advertisers not to the public we use triple a review since we pay for that service i also check multiple places yelp hotels dot com google rezek cetera you might be surprised to find the different different some reviews across different sites that is very valid post on the thing about uh trip adviser deleting reviews about people who've been subject to violence at a hotel.
