That's exactly what i'm talking about. Wendell's world sports so glad you could be with us final segment of the podcast. Speaking about what's happening in college football speaking about what's happening in the nfl. Speaking about all those things but now for the last part of this program for the last part of the pie catherine pivot and speak about what's happening in the fight. Game mixed martial arts speak about what's happening with boxing. There was the heavyweight championship fight across the pond. That i wanna get into only. Boxing can be as stupid as boxing is when it comes to these fighters and these promoters for the good of the sport the fact that these guys so much money away the fact that these promoters through so much me away the fact that the sport despite the outcome of the event took another blow for the sport itself in terms of long term visibility and turn to long term popularity in terms of long people getting back in love boxing. There's no sport there's any dumber this most sport. There's anymore greedier than the sport of boxing. Another example of that happened on saturday. Which i'll get into and just a few moments but first speaking of speaking of a guy throwing away millions speaking of a guy who just i don't know man i don't know i don't know bewilderment. I dunno john. Jones arguably the greatest mixed martial artist of all time should have been the face of the ufc should have been the face of mixed martial arts for years. "And I don't I think that the humanistic part of the prostitution pieces what continually gets lost. So let me let me in Regards to this topic. You see all these buses on the strip for a good time. Call these women at blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And you see all these people handing out these and it's kind of smutty. I think we all is that even a word, smutty word, you know, so I think we all could agree. When men call these women they're not just calling them to come to their hotel room to have a nice conversation. No, I completely agree with you. But the alternative is is that often times when the women go to the room, it's these guys getting drugged and all of their stuff stolen from them. Right. So it's not just about paying for sex or not paying for sex. I mean, some people can make the argument. You take a girl out to a bar or whatever. And you, you have a good time and then You paid for it, right? I've heard that argument. You can make the argument that marriage is legal prostitution. I don't know about that. But maybe in your telling my wife that way. Yeah, that, but But, you know, listen, I'm four undercover cops, you know, by the way that show to catch a predator was very entertaining and I support that. Get these predators up. However, there are some that feel. Do we really need to spend our tax dollars to have all these undercover cops trying to, uh, catch men that are paying for sex? What are your thoughts on that? Well, listen, it's a It's a necessary evil. It's part of police work. Um, you go down along the Tropicana corridor and your business owner down there in the Tropicana corridor, and you have all of these prostitutes that are out there and all of these johns that come around there and by the way, Month after month after month. We take underage kids off the street from that particular location. Those businesses have been demanding their metro do something different down there and we have we've made made a very positive impact down for those small business owners along the Tropicana Corner, But I'll tell you, I think If you ever had the opportunity to interview any of these victims, and that's what they are. These prostitutes are oftentimes victims. Sure, Um, most of them are much younger than you would ever expect. It's our It's our daughters. It's It's these young young women that are that are Caught in this vicious cycle. You would absolutely view them as victims, and you would absolutely have a different opinion about the men that go out there and prey on. What about the homeless issue? That's something that we haven't touched. I mean, there we've had business owners on that say there are homeless people that are defecating in front of their businesses, and and I think we all could agree Many of these homeless people there. They have issues. Mentally. They have drug issues. Uh, you know, some type of psychiatric issues. These are people that need help, right? But what do we do about all these homeless people, particularly downtown. Listen, This isn't just the Las Vegas issue. It's not a Nevada issue. It's an issue facing our country. What your thoughts as someone you know who might very well be the next sheriff, uh, on the homeless issue, and what do we do about it? So if you look at the Clark County detention center that we run, um potentially houses up to 4100 people in a non covid environment, the Clark County Detention Center today remains the largest mental health facility in the state of Nevada. Remains the largest addiction treatment facility in the state of Nevada. We also house more homeless people in the Clark County detention center, because the answer is keep putting people in jail. And if we're going to be honest with one another incarceration, never fixes any of those things. And so we have to have again where we have this. Too far distinct sides come together where the city the county police that NGOs we all business owners. We all sit down at the table and find out how it is that we can impact the problem and start to move that just a little bit more forward. What we can't do is we can't give off, Give up and take all of the accountability away and make it so that homeless can sleep wherever they want and do whatever they want, because businesses are being ruined the health and safety of those and I'll just say this. I'll go back to this humanity. Peace. I'll tell you I've been in those homeless encampments. I've been in the tunnels, and there's nothing humane about housing. People like that. So people like to say it's the police. Listen, we do everything we possibly can to get them into places so that they can and we know that it takes 789 10 times for them before their Oftentimes even willing to take take any help. And so we have to go back to the humanity of it and say this is just not because rape, robbery, murder, stabbings, shootings. They're all happening in these homeless encampments over and over and over again, And when we say Hey, well, they're right is to sleep out there and and well, we're missing out again on the responsibility and the humanity of what it is that we do. You know, you said that you were going to start a wellness, bro. I have a question. And this is this is a question. I need to ask someone in your position for a long time. I don't understand how Derek Shelvin and which we touched on this a little bit the first the first segment, but I understand how he was on the streets. My question is when there is a situation with someone like a direction, Avenor or someone who Who has there's an egregious complaint against him that that you think there's some legitimacy legitimacy legitimacy to what is the process of possibly prosecuting that person. And do you think that that process is enough? Or should there be a third party Mediation service that makes the process easier? Well, I mean, Metro can give you example after example, where we became aware of an individual officers conduct. Um and then we conducted investigation and I'll tell you we do undercover investigation. We do surveillance. We do regular Detective type work to get to where it is that we need to we have. We created a criminal investigation sections within internal affairs so that their focus specifically in on how do you get an officer who's out committing crimes and so Um, but also aside from that, I told I talked to you a little bit about that Early warning system is we start to see behaviors in a number of things that manifest themselves in those officers that give us indications of things that we should be paying attention to long before we do it, But we'll put together the case and the way that too specific to your question is that cases then submitted like any other criminal case to the Clark County district attorney's office, and they make the decision on whether they're going to prosecute enough. 2575396. I know we have some people on hold that want to get to and ask you a few questions. Let's try to do that. Let's go to John. John is next on the Vegas Take. Hi, John. What's up, John? Hey, man. Hey, Roxanne. Uh, yeah, sir. Um Our, uh, when you threw me off with the last topic there, but I'm going to stick with my original intent. Was that the prostitution topic that got you sorry about that? I've been I've been here for, like, 12 years. And I remember when there was an officer involved shooting like every other week in this town. Uh and I really soured my opinion of Metro and the police in this community. It seems to me that it's gotten better over time. I don't seem to be reading about officer involved shooting nearly as much, but I remember when the feds had to come in. And then review your department there and, uh they were. Their primary suggestion was that you implement a policy of de escalation, which I thought was totally outrageous that you hadn't had Uh, policy of de escalation in place already. So so I'm just going to ask you a very simple question to test your bona fides. When can an officer used deadly force? And how does that different from me being able to use that deadly force? Good question, John. Go ahead, Kev. Well, so so maybe be clear about something. And you're talking about 2000 and 10. When Sheriff Gillespie reached out to the Department of Justice and the cops, office and in particular, and we had 25 officer involved shootings. Um and you're right..

"Hi, John. What's going on, man? What's up, John? Sheriff, You sound like a company knowledgeable man, And I wish you good luck. I have one question. For you. The most recent crime statistics. How many would you say? Uh, of felonies? I should say, how many would you say I've been committed by illegals? Thank you for the call. JD. We appreciate that. I'm not surprised You called up and wanted to talk about illegals, But I'm sorry. Go ahead, Kevin. Well, I don't want this to sound like a cop out. But I don't have the data haven't worked at Metro since December. 28th, So I don't really I don't have an answer. Let me ask. Let me I'm happy to get that answer for you. Let me ask you another question. A question? Um When people want to demonize illegals in this country, and sadly, the guy who just called up is one of them. Um Listen, there's no question that I think we'll agree on this. The majority of illegals in this country Although they broke the law, they're not bad people. Can we at least agree on that that the majority of illegals are not bad people can can we start there? Sure. Is that fair While there are some illegals that are committing other Crimes. There's no question about that. The idea that if you're an illegal that you have a far better chance of doing a home invasion or committing a crime, that's that's false. Isn't that false? Based on what I've heard? Yeah. Undocumented workers is probably a better word to use. Yes, right? Yes. Rex Santa agree? Yeah, I know. But you had me confused at all The idea that we should be afraid of these illegals like, Oh, they're going to document their gonna undocumented and they're going to invade your home. They're going to kill your kids. I mean, I just I don't understand why people have that way of thinking as a whole. You're right. That does not okay. It's not a rational fear, right? But again that goes right back to what we talked about a little while ago. You have far left and far right, and we have a crisis at the border. Sure, I don't think anybody can ignore the fact that we have a crisis at the border. But let me be clear about something. Local law enforcement's job is not immigration, and we have to maintain our focus if we run into individuals that have committed crimes that are born in another country, and they're not here legally. That's uh, an aspect of Of I N s and Customs and Border patrol to deal with, But we can't focus on them for an immigration from that perspective. When someone commits a crime you find out you don't. They don't have an idea. You don't know who they are. How much harder is that? Make your job. Um We still have the ability to fingerprint and do a number of other things in the Clark County detention Center to identify those individuals. Can you fingerprint 80 live on the air? I don't do that to 575396 is the number I'm just kidding. J D. Let's go to Kirk. Kirk is next on the biggest that that would be fun. We're gonna give them alive. Anti body test. I figured why not fingerprints on his wall Street that take place. Kirk, You're on with former Undersheriff Kevin McMahon, who is running for sheriff here in Clark County for Metro. What's on your mind, sir? What's up, Kirk? Thanks for having me. Sure. Potential, Sheriff. Hey, I have a question. What's your stance on mandatory vaccines? Is that something the Sheriff's department would Uh, would authorities like would have agreed to to mandate or would you not have the Ability to even touch that area. And would you vaccinate your employees? Good question. Yeah, that is a good question. And no doubt about it Kind of knew that was coming. Um, I like to just answer that little bit more lengthy than maybe what you were going to expect. I don't personally believe that we have the ability to mandate individuals to get vaccines personally. Go back. It wasn't just a couple of years ago where HIPPA HIPPA HIPPA was everything and you weren't allowed to ask anybody about their own health problems. Um, I had covid. My wife had covid my three Children that still live at home with me. All had Covid and I talked to several different doctors over the last few months that some said get it. Some said didn't I finally got a vaccine? I am not an anti-vaxxer in any stretch of the imagination. Um, but I find it very difficult that if somebody Really doesn't want to get a vaccine. What is the role of government to go in and force of vaccine on an individual? So to be very clear about that? I know that, um God willing, By the time I am the sheriff, this won't even be a problem that we have to talk about which Although you know when it all started off. It was 14 days and we were going to be done. And we're into something that I don't think any of us really know enough about. I trust the science Personally, I chose to get a vaccine because let me tell you why, um My wife is a deputy chief at Metro. She's been in charge of the covid response at Metro the last three officers that died. We've had by the way five officers that have died at Metro over. Spoke to one of them after the shave Mikoliunas situation. Yeah. And, yeah, Eric was an academy mate of mine. Um, great guy, and then Jason died and and Doug died recently. And I'll tell you this. They all had one thing in common, and that was that they were not vaccinated. And so for me, it was the one thing that I want to live for my wife. I want to live for my Children. I want to live for me, and that's why I chose to do it. But I don't. I don't see that I have the ability as the sheriff to, uh, mandate private businesses, uh, some of which are doing so, uh Isn't Metro. In a sense. How do you not have the ability to do that? I guess that's my question. Well, The one thing that I believe the sheriff is implemented is that he's implementing vaccines for new hires, Okay, because he can't do it for existing employees because of the collective bargaining agreements. Okay, but what I believe again again. We're Far left and far right on some of these things, and everybody has their idea. You believe in the vaccine. Let me be clear about it. What I think is is that the men and women of Metro are exceptionally intelligent people and the more that you give them the data so that they can look at it themselves and they can make their decisions that more people will come around to getting the vaccine problem, I think is misinformation. I want people to speak to their doctors that know their medical history. That's what I tell them. He just said that half of his doctors said Don't That's true. It's true I had I had. I had talked to doctors and said Absolutely not. Your natural anti bodies that you have should be more than sufficient to protect you. But again, I saw three of my friends die, and I didn't. I just didn't want to do that. And so this is a really hot topic at Metro, by the way. Um, there is a very large group of officers that just don't want to be mandated to get the vaccine. I think part of it is the word mandate what I don't want to do. And I would imagine that if those officers were forced to get the vaccine, and I've guessed that would guess their experience. I would guess they're good at their job. I would guess that Metro The police department would become a little worse at that point and Las Vegas become a little bit less safe. Well, tell that to the families of the officers that died of Covid, and I think they would disagree with you. But anyway, he is Kevin Mck Mayhill, and by the way, I'm very sorry to hear about those officers that have lost their lives. It's horrible and anybody that's lost their life due to Covid and I'm with you. Uh, while you shouldn't have to mandate people to get the vaccine, I think people should get the vaccine. I've been very clear on that opinion. Let's go to Brandon. Brandon is next on the Vegas take. Hi, Brandon Brandon. Hello? Yeah, Brandon, go right ahead. You're on with Kevin. Okay..

"So as amazingly distorting in and fascinating and morbidly curious. All of this is. I do want to get serious here for a second band because the success that made weather and the paul brothers have had and building their profiles. Like the context. The darker context with all of this. Is that these are not model citizens. It's very hard to feel good about rooting for any of them. Fundamentally can you tell us about the controversies the legal issues that these guys mayweather end. Jake and logan. Paul have all been party to May whether. I think it's fairly well known. But just as a reminder a very lengthy history of gender violence and domestic violence to the point that he actually had a jail sentence in twenty eleven in regards to a domestic violence issue and had to serve actual jail time at escorted out of the courtroom with By court martials. Just a few minutes ago. He'll be taken to the clark county detention center. Well he where he will remain for the next eighty seven days when he came back out he kind of picked up whereas career left off but that was a conviction that he had and he did have to serve jail time. Logan poll had a controversy where he shot a video blog. A japanese suicide garden this morning. Logan paul is in some hot water after he posted a video. Allegedly showing the body of a person who recently committed suicide the video viewed over six million times in just twenty. Four hours was part of a series. Paul was posting from japan very controversial situation that ended up costing him financially and really hurt his image and a lot of different ways and then just recently jake. Paul is the has been accused of one sexual assault allegations so all three of them separately have their own individual issues outside of the ring or outside of whatever it is the way they make money but these issues have not stopped any of them for making money thus far. I'm looking for instance at their wikipedia pages fan at jake paul's at logan paul's and floyd's and these are the sorts of guys. You have legal issues and controversies subsections that just keep you keep scrolling through and they keep on going and how have they been dealing with this in the promotion of this fire. You know what's what's fascinating. And it kind of speaks to the parallel between the paul brothers. In floyd mayweather is that you know we saw in the showtime documentary in the thirty minute ob special that they had previewing event. You see logan paul and floyd mayweather onstage. Basically insulting each other about their respective. You know personal problems. Where you have logan paul saying that floyd was beaten his wife and things along those lines. Logan was referencing. Floyd's domestic violence history of conviction as we discussed and then it almost in the same breath. Floyd is also talking about logan's point in which he had the incident in japan and they both are using this as a vehicle to sell this pay per view which is kind of almost remarkable when you think about what is actually going on here that they're using the lowest points in each other's lives presumably to make money off it for each other and they both kind of know what's going on here and it's it's part of the act it's all part of what's occurring in kind of why they've been able to kind of make this money in overtime in a way says a lot of cut about who. They are the stunts man with the paul brothers. They were on full display. A couple of weeks ago in miami at the first news conference that was held to promote this fight. And again jake. Paul who is not the brother who is fighting floyd this weekend. He went face to face with floyd and stole his. And so this may sues and floyd is yell egg. Don't ever disrespect me like that. Seems pretty like volatile in verging on. Oh wait a minute. There's something dangerous going on here. All of which in retrospect felt so straight out of the wwe. So how do you see like pro wrestling bleeding into how boxing is operating today. A boxing always had these big characters in you know long before wrestling did. You've always had guys who were able to do this and do it. Well and there is that kind of showmanship quality. The fact that is that is a big drama and for this fight specifically and feel weird even calling a fight even though they're hitting each other i don't really know how much fight it's going to be no this this rector goal. This disgraced some people's eyes but this thing that we're gonna pay attention to right in the thing is we already know if we're trying to talk about the sporting qualities of this exhibition. I think it's pretty easy that we kind of have an understanding of what's gonna happen. That whenever floyd mayweather decides he wants the night to be over the night will be over. But that's when you're talking about a pay per view you have to create this intrigue can give people a reason to tune in because obviously you know just putting these two guys against each other and saying. Hey go go fight. And let's see who wins unless it's really really elite fighters and even in combat sports.
