"That's aside but in some of our conversations. I don't see i don't sense. There's much grayson. That tells a heck of a guy he does. I mentioned your. He mentioned your middle name a lot when he talks about this. Oh man batting turning your middle name starts with an f. for something that's an illness it's miles you know. I thought about going by. I wish i had dropped the calendar. That'd be much cooler girls rather than kevin miles sharing. No absolutely i would have been great. You know i did that. What do you think now. you'll fool the public. I'm only. I'm only forty four years into my career. Maybe maybe now's the time to try something like that. It'd be great sinking up a bit. Yeah and needs a little bit of that speaking shaking it up a little bit. The cowboys shook it up Over the weekend Against the chargers at its so-fi stadium. i'm not convinced that That we that we know a whole lot the cowboys yet. But you know as as as people like to say as clarence hill likes to say a wins a win So what the heck david. I'm not sure why you'd site clearance ill on anything but i was making my point by side and clarence you know. Well yeah again so you know. It's a strong point when that happens. Yeah exactly but no. I think look if especially for profound point like that in his own. Yeah yeah well. That's about the best glares can do. That is profoundly glares. Yeah declaring any sweeping assertions about how the season is going to unfold and making any declarations about how this team is different than it has been in recent years after two games is not something anyone should do. Having said that i think there's some encouraging signs for the cowboys to come out of these two games that they're indications that this team is certainly different than last year and and really the year before that as well in that One was just the uncharacteristic nature of this win You know they went twenty two seventeen Drive forty nine yards for the for the game. Winning field goal as time expires That was the first time. Dallas has won a game when it scored less than thirty points. And you have to go back to the two thousand eighteen season. They had gone thirty four games and every time they were held to under thirty points. They lost so that that stretches over four seasons You know and it just underscores. How one dimensional team hit become that. They couldn't expect anything from their defense. Everything had to be one in a shootout. That game wasn't a shootout. In fact also. I think the way. The game unfolded from an offensive standpoint. a little bit encouraging as well to show they could win different sort of games because dallas came out had fourteen in the first quarter. They didn't score touchdown the rest of the game They only had three possessions in the second half and yet by and large they lead most of the game and came back. And and i thought they really controlled the tempo so that you had not seen dallas win that sort of game in quite a while and coming off of the tampa bay game where they had a chance to win and and took the defending super bowl champions down to the wire I think it's a about as good of. I think it's a better start. Then you would have expected from this team given to questions you had about that prescott coming off the injury you know how long it would take a long take for this defense to take hold. And then you had a key defensive loss going into the game on demarcus lawrence before you ever got to the game and randy gregory your other starting defensive end on the coca list and you're starting safety donovan. Wilson wasn't able to play so. I think this team has more depth defensively More creativity defensively mike. Parsons has made a big difference. And i think you've seen that in the first two games were now. You actually get the sense. This dallas team can win games in different ways and you have to do that in the nfl. all right. I'm gonna play a little bit of devil's advocate here. As i didn't edited only two games. I say all this prefacing. It's two games and to make sweeping assertions e responsible absolutely But i'm gonna say what brandon staley said and by the way brand stated for those who don't know the coach of the chargers dot just some guy who wandered in the building He said after the game Against the cowboys that You know we. We made a lot of mistakes. A lot of errors out here. A lot of twelve penalties ninety nine yards We were on course for five hundred yards and maybe twice as many points as we put up because they had two touchdowns off the boards. They missed a they clanged. Bill go off the left upright Interception in the red zone where they would've so yes into the end zone on where receiver fell down. That really wasn't even just in herbert's Fall i would say this You know. I've seen justin herbert play the ceiling play in person He's quite a talent. What an arm. My gosh those passes he was again. He was so impressive. I thought then you look at his final line and you just kind of shrugged any went. You know for what we saw. This line doesn't match up because this is a special guy he really is. He's big he's fast And he really seems to get it. You know i to me. He looks like what everyone thinks. That trevor lawrence is going to be Right now we're very similar kind of talent. So he's he's gonna be He's gonna spectacular player for the chargers. And i think that's one of the reasons why everybody was feeling like this is such a big win. The chargers really otherwise aren't so great geena now has a really nice wide receiver that they've got a they got a pretty nice offense. Joey bosa is obviously a terrific defensive. In i mean they've got some things going for them obviously but This is this is a team. Still kind of trying to find his way back to you. Know they were seven and nine last year so I do think that the cowboys showed some things. I think one of the things that we learned about the cowboys after two games as what we learn mostly after the tampa bay game we we. We've seen the dak. Prescott is ready to go. That was you know we e came out against the. The box was just terrific. I thought he played very well. A against the chargers as well They gave him a pretty clean pocket..

That the Miami Dolphins job, which is the last vacancy, right? That the insider to get the job was New England's defacto defensive coordinator, Brian Flores, now there've been a lot of talk about this Dallas assistant coach. All ran a lost my driver's license on my company credit card. I'm checking into my LAX hotel and going to bed. That's a good idea Clarence because again race baiting in the NFL. I don't know is productive. But there are going to be a lot of questions. No question Kerry about a season, which five African American head coaches were fired and maybe not even official about floors right now. Right. One will be hired. What are what are your thoughts right now about the current state of the Rooney rule is it necessary and just the general view of who should be hired who's should be in line for these NFL head coaching job? Well, the Rooney Rooney the Rooney deal is I guess it's it's necessary. I think we have to have equal opportunity and have people give people of color have a chance to get a job. I mean, I think that's absolutely necessary. But I also think that situations like this. This sets it back. Right. You have a guy that's popping off about a situation that he really doesn't know you have to actually research stuff, you have to actually get to the bottom of what's going on before you actually tweeted out somebody who's in his position who's been there for twenty years twenty year doing NFL for a long time. It's not know that Brian. Patriots. I didn't know who he was. That's that's pretty sad on his part. But yes, the rule is necessary. But I also think the necessary they most qualified guys to get the job also believe in that as well. I don't think you just give somebody a position because of color or race or gender or whatever the case might be. I think the most qualified person gets the job. But yes, Rooney rule is necessary. Well, I think the Arizona situations. What really started a lot of people you hire Steve walks in a situation where you're bringing in a rookie quarterback. And it doesn't work. It's a disaster. They go three and thirteen coming off an eight eight season, right. And they fire him. He's not the first guy that's been a one and done guy s p Carol. He was a one and done guy with the New York Jets. So a lot of people have been one and done guys. But because he's African American, and then you go out and hire cliff Kingsbury, right? Who had a losing record at Texas Tech who has no track record of being a winning head coach that's worthy the alarm bells. Are going off. Absolutely. Yeah. You can't like like, I just said you have to hire qualified people do to do these jobs. This is the business where it's all about winning. It's about putting the product on the field and that product has to win. So if you're bringing a guy like Kingsbury a guy who you just said lost in college got fire thirty five and forty. Yeah. He's he's not he's not a winner. Bye. Bye. Bye. Winning standards. He's not that guy yesterday to bring a guy like that coach, Patrick Mahomes coast, Patrick Mahomes, but anybody goes in record, right? So for him to come in there right after that fire, and that's just not a good look for Arizona. Yeah. The one and done doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I mean. Yeah. Ended up having to pay the guy off. Anyway, I think that one season for any coach really isn't very fair. We're in the Geico Fox Sports radio studios. We talked a lot about games today. There's a couple of charger guys out here that are really anxious about tomorrow. Hey, guys. How's your game going? If you know what? "Another team that likes to score. And I have to go up and down the field. They're able to stone them on these. They said they can do the same thing. You're around the key here is that you know, if that stadium and half cowboy fan Rogaine. They don't think they'll be a role as a lot of cowboy Evan's, they're not to think it will be too. As you talk about fans all over the place in Cowboys. You'll get Jason geared Jason gears been on a hot seat year any. Year out Clarence. And we know Jerry Jones in the past has gone to stay inside to hire the next head coach if two Cowboys for some reason get kicked around in this game is the next head coach standing on the sidelines for the Dallas Cowboys and for short. I think criticizing end up in Miami. And I I just don't see Jason LLC Jerry making little not after winning a playoff game not have to win the editor last night game. And the way they they, you know, rebound from at three and five star in soda by Jason Jason in Jerry. You know, they try to help them in in Jerry does not want to get rid of Jason because Jason allowed Terry to be Jerry Jerry can be on the sideline. And and have all this press conference you bring up different coach in there. They might not be comfortable a dead Jason injury comfortably to other in the fact that they won they got to this point. There's no way he'd get rid of Jason after this year. And I certainly think that research are probably ended up in my wow. You like that decision. If that is indeed true. I mean, how can you be mad at Jason? But when he did this year because he's been there. Yes. This year. How because he's been there years before this year. He's got are resonating. He hasn't been here before they they re they turned over his team. This is a new team than it wasn't a past. And you know, you know, it's funny because I get mad at our people in the radio in Dallas. And I'm like why are we talking about next year can win the game? What they win this game. Why are we talking about them losing his game? Why why why why rather scenario the narrative what if they lose here with Jason with if they beat the ram, and then the camps your game plan for the future, man. We're going to be worried about that at that point. Well, it seems they really believe they can be derived. I mean, this is what got his debut the day. Everything started for that in LA and that preseason game. It's one of these team when no one even knew that it was this sports round guy with developmental project. He goes out there and licensed up against rampant in meaningless preseason game. But it set the tone set the tone for deck, and you know, he has a look back in in had a great rookie season. And now he's back to where it started. And they're really confident they're going to get rid of covered. They can win the game. So I mean, I don't think anybody in Dallas right now if things about replacement Jason Sagir Clarence hill, joining us Dallas Fort Worth star telegram in ESPN, Dallas, you mentioned that Dak great start here in LA. But you look at this season. They started three and five like you mentioned. And it seemed like listening to Jerry Jones that we were getting close to maybe something happening to Jason Garrett. They get a more Cooper. And they take off. It would was that an expectation that they were that player away. A or a number one receiver away that if they got that piece. Everything would click or the fact that here we are going into division around with a legitimate chance to win the game. Is this a massive surprise to everybody involved? If you're in a moment is a message the proud can we didn't see this. No one saw is coming at three and five. And then you get Amari Cooper in the first game out to get blown out by the titan at home on Monday night..

"More accusations. More questions brought up again and of course more hyper partisan attacks, both sides, challenging the women's integrity, suggesting that they're fabulous that they're liars that they're politically motivated while many over the weekend on cable news, convicted Brett Cavanaugh of attempted rate and even some calling him a serial sexual predator. When in fact, none of us know why happen, which is exactly why the FBI should be called into investigate. It happened in nineteen ninety one when George H W Bush responded to a request from Capitol Hill and did a quick head do quick three or four day investigation on the Clarence hill Claire. Thomas. Matter with a a hill and a lot of people asking why we shouldn't do that in because Mike barnicle things just continue to get murkier and murkier is who move along. We have a second accuser, but again, just as many questions around the facts from three plus decades ago and an alcohol fueled incident. If if if you believe what we're we're reading in these reports, and so we need somebody to sort through it and it's it's certainly the case that members of the Senate Judiciary committee are not capable of doing that in the straightforward nonpartisan manner. Well, Joe, I mean, we talked about it earlier, but the hyper partisanship that surrounds this nomination. And now the supreme court itself is truly tragic in terms of what the court extensively ought to be in our history, what it has been so many, many times in the past in our history. And now we have just basically another political event instead of sorting out exactly what this man judge cavenaugh may or may not be on the court. We have the chargers level by Dr Ford and miss Ramirez. Both of them have to be legitimately heard you'd have to be again, as we spoke about earlier that both women would have to be mentally ill to have injected themselves into such a process, the way the way they are now participated in the prices. But the larger tragedy is the politicisation of the supreme court. Now, I guess it began with Bob Bork in the middle of the eighties when the Democrats live him on fire, but the supreme court is supposed to be different. It's a lifetime appointment and x million affects every American in its rulings, and it was is elated from politics and that sadly is no longer the case. Well, it is a lifetime appointment. The idea that we have to rush forward and get a. Get a vote on on cavenaugh this week. It's like, yeah, it is. It is ridiculous. I certainly understand Republicans on the committee being angry filling like they've been played. They went through the process. Diane Feinstein, held this letter for several months or or other Democrats did, then they dropped it. And this started a chain of events. If Oaters want to take that out on Democrats, they can take that out on Democrats. But right now it hurts. Nobody. And it helps the American people get information for for an investigation at least over the next week or two. And he had maybe nothing comes of that investigation, and it ends up just being a show trial with senators, choosing their sides and Americans choosing their sides based on ideology. But at least we should try to get more facts to the American people and voters who are going to be voting on a lot of these lot of these senators that are going to be up for election, come the fall. They're going to have a vote. Now, Andrea, we've been talking awful lot about the story that you covered. Clarence Thomas and Anita hill and how the FBI get called in there. But I gotta tell you this reminds me more of what happened with John tower, of course, cover that that was. Before, but I know there were a lot of people in Washington DC saying, wait a second. You're not going to let a guy be secdef because he drinks and he acts the way a lot of people in Washington DC act. That was that was a game changer for the late eighties. But now it seems that we're doing the same thing for how bluntly the back in the nineteen eighties. A lot of high school students conducted themselves at elite private prep schools we are, and the problem is memories fade and alcohol's involved..
