"So I think he's going to go a little bit higher than most patriots fans want them to take a running back, but Karen Williams from Notre-Dame is an awesome third down running back prospect, right? He's somebody that can pass protect and catch the football. Lands airlines come for him as Dion Lewis, right? So he's somebody that can really play that role in a high, high level. So maybe an end of the third round type of guy probably the top 100, maybe a little bit too early for the Patriots to take a running back, but Karen Williams from Notre-Dame. We can definitely play that James White role. He probably won. The one thing I would say to that is I think James cook is a very comparable player. He'll probably go 2025 pixel later. Right. And that's how the Patriots approach this, right? I think they'll look at that spot and say we could grab Williams now or we can realistically wait until our next pick get cooked. I just think they go that way. So the running back car is a staggered really weird. Yeah, or even like a CJ verdell later on in the draft. He's later, yeah, CJ riddell. And clusters and all that kind of stuff. This is where we get into that with Karen Williams. Let's talk about defense, more important than running back anyways. Defensive line. Can I get one more on the offense side of the ball? Real quick, yeah. I know you didn't want to do tight ends. Nope. But there's a guy named Connor Hayward at a Michigan state. He was a running back for two years converted to tight end. He's a big dude. He's 6 foot two 30. He's not quite a move fullback, but he's a full backpack and can give you a little something in the passing game. He's a really unique player. He was at the senior bowl. He's a guy who's going to be on the radar. He's a guy who kind of has that different. I think there could be, they're going to bring in at least one full back. I think from undrafted free agency to even if they resign Jakob Johnson, the one thing that we've watched them do in the last couple of years, Ben mason, and Vitale is potentially trying to get somebody that can catch some passes from that thought too and not just be a lead blocker. So this is Hayward. Again, 'cause he caught 30 passes when he moved to tight end this year. He also was among the team leaders in special teams tackles. He covers kicks. So he screams day three developmental patriots pick and I'm blanking on his first name again. I just said it's Connor right, yeah. Connor Hayward out of Michigan states a guy to watch..

"Going to get the inbounds out of bounds Coming up next segment Coming up next hour. The Cardinals slice up the Titans. So There's two things to extrapolate from that. Just just how good maybe the cardinals or but also, uh, I would be a little word. If I'm Titans fan a little really would. I said last week, and I said it. I didn't really circle back to it and underscored. I didn't just I think it was when you were out on Friday. Just let it dangle a little bit. I said, You know, I want to see Ryan Tannehill without Arthur Smith. What to see this? Yeah, and without, you know, look that go run game. That's just dominant. Yep. For sure. Who? You know, he was run heavy, and he would put him in a very good spot. So listen, you have Derrick Henry. Have Julio Jones. You have brown. You have Tannehill. You have friendly. I'm not. I'm not saying this by any stretch that you know it's a calamity here, but Titans. Look, they look so bad that I don't think that you could just say. Well, they lost weak one. They look bad, but we will get to that coming up in our two. Jalen hurts The exact opposite look terrific. And the Eagles the only team with a win inside of what was the worst division of football the year ago. So the Eagles the top all the NFC East, all right, T. Couch football. You know, the Pac 12 had a great win going into Columbus. I mean, listen, even if they would have played their up in Oregon, and you know the Buckeyes make that make that site and make that try and make that journey I should say. And the places rabbit as it would be. It would still be an incredible win. And it would still be you know, a little dent in the armor of the Buckeyes Perceptually but to go into Columbus where they never lose, Yeah, and kind of push him around again. Much like, Look, Look, college football is wonky. This year. We had this conversation before the council ball season started a lot of it because all the young new quarterbacks on some of these teams that are that are top in. I mean, truly, only Alabama. We can count on to be consistently. Great. North Carolina lost, uh, Washington. George is going to be pretty good. Yeah, probably, Uh, but but Alabama, you can count on them every single year. Um, Ohio State. They are perennially in the conversation for the college football playoff really since the beginning of the college ball, And before that, they always have good talent offensively, good wide receivers, and they still do have good wide receivers. In fact, it's not the offensive side of the ball that I'm worried about. CJ Stroud, their young starting quarterback, He's a stunt. I mean yards like 403 100. He did for over 400 yards having in this game and they got to really good wide receivers and Chris Olive and Garrett Wilson. Um and this Skill positions are there But for the first time in a really long time, uh, you know, and you know how ST Columbus their defense is in trouble, Dude, Um, we watched that game against Minnesota. Remember, we we We talked about it, mostly because of the kid Mo Ibrahim running back for 163 yards or whatever it was before he ruptured his Achilles. Uh, they got gassed on the ground against Minnesota, Minnesota. We like P. J. Fleck, But it's Minnesota ran for 206 yards last weekend against Oregon. Oregon ran for 269 Yards bt this is a big 10 squad, and I was state that's that prides itself on having big hogs in the trenches on both sides being aggressive in the second levels. Seven super athletes in the secondary will come down and popular and they looked lost. Against what Oregon was doing, and I was reading about how they had so much success. How organized so much success and you could see it as you were watching it, But you're It was kind of confusing. It's like what? What actually is happening here like why are these holes so massive for Oregon? And it's because they're offensive coordinators. There was Joe Morehead has basically brought back the triple option. Remember the triple option, like from Way back when Nebraska Yes, he's brought it back. But there's a new twist on it. And so it's like cross blocking. So the line blocks one way and the tight end comes across the formation. Like all the way across the formation, right or right to left, right, the left left to right and he's supposed to block the edge guy. But he got he never blocks the edge guy. What he ends up doing. He bypasses the edge. Guy gets the corner of the line back. He bypasses the edge guy and goes into the flat. It's the third option, and so now all of a sudden this defensive end thinks he's getting blocked. And so he's getting ready to take on this blocker and he gets passed up and he's like, okay, let me go Attack the ball carrier, and it's the quarterback who is now sticking the ball into the into the belly of the running back, So he's like, All right, Who do I take? I take the quarterback or do I take the running back? And so if he takes the running back The quarterback keeps the ball and now the quarterback has the ball. He's out on the perimeter. Remember the tight ends in the flat, right? He's away from the play. And now the guy who's covering the tight end. How has has has has a decision decision to make my taking the quarterback and I go and cover the guy I'm supposed to cover And so if he goes and covers the guy supposed to cover the quarterback Anthony Johnson Anthony Brown, who was transferred from BC just goes and takes off picks up 20 yards. If he takes the quarterback, he throws it to the guy did it? It's an unstoppable option. It's unbelievable. It's just an R P o that we've seen for years in college sports, But you add that extra like component that triple option that third option to it. They could not figure it out. They ran it at least six times in this game and critical situation. The 77 yard touchdown to that CJ Verdell had that was it was It was the same play on in late in the game. When they had they had to get a first down. It was that same play in Ohio State just could Not stop it. I mean, it was it was. It was amazing when you watch. Well, I mean, the good news for Ohio State is that they're not going to see this again the rest of the year in the big 10 that's bringing this. But even if big 10 teams try to replicate that they're not gonna have the athletes and systematically. It's not going to be quite as also we did a little business, too. So that that's true. Listen, but the thing about the Minnesota game and you have to incorporate this. I know they won't think it was at 45 31 They like If you didn't watch the game, and you were texting that night, you were.

"You don't strike fear and anybody you cannot win that way. Might as well run the ball seriously. You might as well run the ball. Yeah, it's as opposed to throwing at 38 times. At least you might. You might pop one. But run the ball with Justin Fields and then create the threat of the run. And then when you have to play action that he could really let it rip 70 yards. Yeah, so the point One of the segment is. How did the rookie young quarterbacks look Justin Fields in his six plays, how many he played. He was two for two throwing touchdown. I think he's out there about what 5% whatever it was, and he scored a touchdown, and there was energy around him, just in dynamic energy. It was a good debut. Obviously, the Rams are so superior right now, because Matthew Stafford within and Sean McVeigh's system is just ridiculous. That uniform that he really looks good. It was like a prototypical tell you. That's it. Cooper Cup is a ball of Jefferson Had that big catch fell down Florida Nobody touched them. He'd go goes into scores a touchdown. They look good. Hey, you got a good tight end said this in the previous segment, the NFC West is going to be damn good man. Really, really damn good. Trey. Lance is probably in the best situation. Mainly because trade lands doesn't have to do anything for the San Francisco 49 years to be really good. Jimmy Garoppolo has been. He's been a good quarterback these last couple of years. The only issue is his health right, But when he's healthy, he can move the ball right and he's he's effective sufficient. He has a great command cause he's got. He's smart. He's a smart kid, and so they don't have to play. Trey Lance to feel viable, right? They don't They don't need this young kids Energy trade Lance's energy to be someone that people pay attention to, because they've got a good defense, a good running and great running game in a good quarterback and Jimmy Garoppolo. But what this does is allows trade lands, and I said there's a couple weeks ago Or maybe even last week. It allows trade lands to fit that Taysom Hill role and be dynamic like you come in. And like, Dude, what's his kid going to do? Is he going to run the ball? Are we getting an R P O here? What and he throws The touchdown passes first past five yard touchdown. And so it just gives Kyle Shanahan so many more options in critical situations. Whether it's third down or tight, Red Zone or fourth down, whatever it is, you have it. You have like this X factor that other teams can't muster because they don't have that kind of kid. I think Trey Lance is in the best situation. The 49 ers in a great situation. Because of how their team is is constructed. Really good defense. Good run game and two quarterbacks can play. All right. Just getting started. Give you a heads up What we have coming up next. Our Chad Pennington, former NFL quarterback stops by we'll get into the Oregon went over the Buckeyes. Buckeyes could easily be owned two. They took it on the chin in Columbus. And how about the Oregon Left that little rubber duck in midfield? How about that, huh? There run defenses. Bad dude, they organs good organs better than I thought. Forget guys are not nearly as good as I thought. Oh, Ibrahim Hooper, who ruptured as a killer as Achilles Achilles here in Minnesota. Yes, a lot of a killer's Achilles. But Minnesota is running back. Yes. He had 100 and 70 yards before he went out, and he went out pretty early in the game. CJ Verdell had 168 yards there Run defense and Ohio State is in trouble. Uh, can't disagree. No real issues on defense for the Iowa Hawkeyes, who I mean, I watched a lot of that game disappoint. Get in the cyclones, but Well mix in the college football next hour in bounds out of bounds as well. "It's not that I don't care. It's just I'm trying to multitask and also managed to show at the same time as this is happening. Don't you worry about that. It's time for workers Shoot. That's what it's time for. Let's just worry about workers. Shooting will move on, Baby. You ready? Ready as I'll ever be. It's time for workers shoot. professional wrestling when two guys exchange words and they say they worked themselves into a chute. Well, if you don't know If you don't know. I'll tell you about it. You might say, Ken, What does workers shoot? Tell me the rules of workers shoot. Okay, Here we go. Workers Shoot is true, False except it's not true or false because true or false in the sense of workers shoot would be false or true because the work is false in a shoot is true. And you might say Ken well, then, just called true false health, because if I say true or false is up next, that's not really going to keep you around. Sh workers shoot that's provocative, so in the parlance of professional wrestling Because we like professional wrestling on this show us and myself included both like professional wrestling on this show, and we'll reference it frequently. A work is something that's plan. That's something that's put on as a show. When a shoot is something that's really happening. A shoot is something that someone truly Means that would be the truth. Shoot a false a work. If you don't know it, you will, as suss takes us away with work or shoot. All right, Ken, let's go dive right into Ohio State, losing to Oregon in a shocking victory by the Ducks so after they survived Fresno State last week. The Ducks ran all over the Buckeyes with star performances from CJ Verdell and I Touched up from Travis Die as well. So, major advocation after this game in a very like college football slate, so workers shoot can Oregon has officially put in their candidacy for spot in the college football playoff? Hell, yeah. Why not That straight shooting, brother. This my friends is a shoot. Hell, yes. Say you go on the road. You beat Ohio State. You're a bigger surprise than what a lot of people have. And if I just get off my Phil Steele magazine, which you know, I love Bill Steele. He's a friend of the show. And he's a friend of mine. And I just get out the magazine right now. Where did Phil Steele have them? Where to fill? Still have Oregon He had him second behind Washington. All right, Well, you already saw what happened with Washington. That's one blip. It can be one blip, but you know what? This is the difference with Jimmy Lake and Washington is compared to what you have in Oregon. Oregon played fast. Mario Cristobal had him playing fast. They played wide open. They use their athleticism. That's what I love. You got athletes use them. Use them play with pace go right on ahead and do so. If you can do it, do it. If you can't don't try to do it. Jimmy Lake plays a little bit slow. So if it comes down to the Pac 12 In that game, which I believe is November six against Oregon, which will be at Washington. Yes, it's going to be at Washington. All right. Are you going to try to have three possessions in the first half? Because the only I try to have three possessions in the first half. Good luck trying to convert on third seven. If it's anything like I see like I saw before you have some serious problems on your hands. So it's just one little extra thing to pay attention to. Now. I don't know what's going on with Washington and Michigan. But I know that I think that there's a very, very nice opportunity. For Oregon with their schedule. If I play scheduled game real quick, get a big win at Ohio State. Stony Brook should be a pushover. Arizona doesn't have much Stanford I feel bad for you ain't got much the rest of the schedule at U C L A could be a big one. Chip Kelly, I think has got him in the right direction. That offense is going to the right direction. They can be very, very good. Colorado, you should be able to beat Colorado just brought it up. Washington STATE Utah Utah is always a toughie and then Oregon State because you have a couple of road games there. So at UC LA at Utah toughies If you do your typical pic Pac 12 garbage That? No, But as of right now, hell, yeah, throw them right in. That's a very, very nice win for the Pac 12. That's a very nice win for Oregon. Anybody who goes into Ohio State wins deserves a ton of credit. No matter what I say about it being mid September early part of the season. You deserve a ton of credit for it. You just can't have any let up. But I think that this schedule with the exception of a couple of those road games, I'm not fearful Stanford on the road. I know that he's good football coach be able to have it ready, but I don't know if he said. I don't know if he can get them ready for Oregon. I think they'll be fine and fourth year here perfect timing for Mario Crystal ball next So let's go into the big 10, Wisconsin last well last week had a chance to keep up with Penn State and a grueling big 10 matchup. They had a shot to cover behind and send Camp Randall happy But they ended up coming short against the team. That is one Ryan, Trace Hickeys Alma Mata. So with in light of Ohio State, losing 10 workers shoot the big 10 is now completely wide open. That is a work work. That is a work. It's still Ohio State's conference solution. Um There's not. There's nothing else I can say about Michigan's got to get going in the right direction in Michigan is not going to get in the overall direction. Indiana I was worried about any, which is a total throwaway line about Michigan will tell you here in a second. You can't develop quarterbacks in Michigan, so I can't take you seriously in Michigan. Okay? It's that simple when it comes to Michigan, Indiana, No offense the time, Alan I think that Indiana was winning it exposed entire off season. You have that type of turnover margin. You're going to come back to the packet some point and to be beaten like that at Iowa last week, it might be weak one It might be that you thought you were arrived. And you didn't in Iowa's been hungry now for eight months. I don't think you can afford to do some stupid stuff like that. I can't. I don't think you can afford to do some stuff like that. Your schedule doesn't get any easier. Like they got Cincinnati on that schedule this year. You're at Michigan this year. I think Indiana is Like that's going to take away some opportunities. And now when you were playing tight ball games like last year when they played tight ball games against Against Penn State didn't have another one that was close against Wisconsin. I want to say Get one against Penn State and one against Wisconsin. Does the ball bounce your way as compared to where it is now? No, So now you lose more, so Indiana is not going to be a serious threat to me. Is pence. They're going to be a serious threat. I think it's still too early for that, just like I think it's still too early to say that Ohio State season is wrecked. Iowa's intriguing Iowa is intriguing. Northwestern can't help but go back to the pack. The graduated so many seniors there. I still think that this is this is easily Ohio State's conference to win. It is not wide open next. So the Cowboys in the Buccaneers put on a show to open up the NFL regular season deck proved that the injuries that he's recovering from whether this is broken leg or the shoulder strain that he suffered a training camp. Did not slow him down. And Tom Brady just continues to look great at the age of 44 those nano machines in his body who they are really doing it great job of getting getting him going so, But one player didn't do so well on Thursday night, and that was Zeke Elliott. So coming off of a very Pedestrian 2020. He came out of the gate slow in this one. He only had 33 yards and on 11 carries, so Ken workers shoot. Are we seeing the end of Zeke Elliott? No, I think that's a work work. He's in better shape. I can't believe he's comfortable with playing with all those piercings, But he has a visor. So be okay. I've ripped Zeke up and down of ripped. I've ripped the Cowboys up and down for Zeke. I don't think less. I don't think Thursday night was Zeke's fall whatsoever. He still had 80 still played 82% of the snaps. He's still being used. They decided to throw the football. Alright, Vida Veda, you go try and running on vtv at all and see whether or not you like it. I as much as I think he makes it easy Target, and Zeke does, and he's made an easy target of himself. I still think that's a work..

"State championship savings. For the win. Oregon gets the win over Ohio State 35 to 28 spreading it forward here a little bit guys. You have. Let's go to the Ohio State. Part of this last week, they gave up a buck 63 on the ground of Moai Abraham. He probably should have had more than 200. But he was injured in the third. They give up 1 61 to C. J. Verdell today. I know we can say yes. Ohio State wins out They're going to make the playoffs. But it's easy to say that in week two There are issues here with Ohio State, especially defensively, where it doesn't matter if there's one ranked team or no ranked teams remaining on their schedule, Trevor, how concerned are you about Ohio State moving forward in their chances to To win out. I'm very concerned about it. Remember a couple years ago, they missed out on the playoffs because they lost one game they got shelled at Purdue in the committee thought that that was enough to keep them out of the top four, and that's happened to them A couple of times They lost Iowa one time to do that, right? The and so this gives the committee an opportunity. Even if they do win out to slide somebody else in there. This is a game they lost at home. To an Oregon team that was missing. Five defensive starters, including the best football player in all of college football came on Thibodeau and they still lost this game, and they lost it because they didn't look like they knew where to stand. There was so many missed assignments in this game, so it's one thing just to get beat by a team. It's another to be so disjointed when it comes to your alignment and assignment. And your execution, So the committee has an opportunity now to look at a team like Georgia. Yeah, Georgia continues to win out, loses a tight window Bamba or if Obama wins out or a and M wins out and loses a tight one to Georgia. Assuming that Georgia gets to the SEC championship game, the committee will then Be in a position to have to choose. Let's just say it's Georgia. Hypothetically, Uh, one loss non champion Georgia who's got to win over Clemson. Or the Ohio State team who lost to Oregon when half their starting defense was out at home. And so this is where Ohio State has opened the door to the to the decisions of people sitting in American dish in room eating shrimp in two sons trying to figure out how to separate them. This was this was a bad look for the Buckeyes when the committee has to go to make their final decisions, and for me, Trevor and Mayor. It's the simple fact that when I watched this Ohio State team last week defensively They got out physical by Minnesota. Right, then you come in and wig too, okay? I think maybe the tougher team against Oregon, um from the Pac 12 and the Pac 12 was formerly known as being more finesse, right? Um, but no, they weren't. They got punched in the mouth. Time and time again today and like U C l A Did l s u yeah, Just checking. But they but I'm telling you, like the Pac 12 now is showing people that Hey, We're not this Vanessa lead that we used to be where coming in, and we're about to punch people in the mouth and we're going to gain this respect from not just the opponents that we're playing. But from everyone who has anything to do with college football, so right now, I think the Pac 12 is here to stay and Ohio State. They have to get these things fixed last last week, it was the it was the linebackers in the secondary guys today. It was everybody on the defensive unit, right? Got outmuscled got out physical 472 rushing yards They've given up over the first two weeks and by the way for Ohio State Is the first time in program history they've given up at least 30 points in their first two games of the season. They have now given up 30 or more in three straight going back to last year. Obviously the national championship Trevor so what's the problem with your How state defense they need. They need to send Kerry comes back to the NFL. Well, I'll tell you what, it's it's not effort. And it really isn't talent. I mean last week, both of their starting corners route against Minnesota, and so they had to put some young guys in there to play. They still have injury issues and guys that are banged up in the secondary. That's a problem. Uh, a bigger problem might be that they have three brand new starting linebackers, those guys as a group of faster than last year's Buckeye starting linebacker corps. But They're not in the right spot. Now it's hard to be in the right spot against Minnesota because they have so many strange formations and pre snap things that they do They create gaps where there wasn't a gap before and which gap do I have? And do I have one capper to gaps, and that's tough in the first game. In this game, though it continued the siege a bridal spectacular stats. Have as its highlight a 77 yard touchdown run right up the middle right up the middle. And the question is, was that just well blocked or was no buddy there? Who was supposed to be there. There was a touchdown pass to a tight end that Oregon through where he was playing action. The tight end was on the left. He ran right up the middle, and the safety ran into him and then avoided him to come back up for the fake run closer to the line, while the tight end went all by himself for a touchdown pass. So these assignments are what are really hurting Ohio State They can flip the switch quickly, but let's see him do it in that first one. You were just talking about CJ Verdell when he took it about 70 yards, is that I've seen a linebacker being hesitant and allowed the offensive lineman to climb to the second level of cover him up right in this game. You can't blink your eyes. You blink your eye, That guy's gone touchdown, and that's actually what happened. Other scores around the nation number 13, Florida They just finished off. US. South Florida 42 to 20. Virginia Tech number 19 in all the land leads Middle Tennessee 22 7. That's in the third Penn State number 11 in the country, 14 to 3 lead over Ball state. Colorado leads Texas A and M the fifth ranked Aggies seven to nothing. We've seen one upset already. Might we see another College GameDay.

"30 minutes Here on Chicago's College tailgate. We get a Chicago's college delegate scoreboard update The CCT scoreboard on ESPN 1000 years. Tyler. Rocky Alright, Oregon back on top now over Ohio State's CJ Verdell with another touchdown. They've got 14 7 lead. Auburn taken care of Alabama State 20 to nothing right now. Florida with an early touchdown over South Florida, But the Bulls just put a field goal on the board, so it is now 73. Florida with the edge over South Florida and then a little lap around the Big 10 here, Virginia in the fourth quarter, they've got the 35 14 lead over Illinois. Michigan State taking care of of Youngstown State, 35 to 7, Minnesota, The 21 3 lead on Miami, Ohio. And Northwestern, with a 14. Nothing lead on Indiana states. Let's Tyler Rocky. He brings us our scoreboard updates here on Chicago's college tailgate like Abdel with you here on ESPN 1000, the ESPN Chicago APP, and, by the way, Oregon as Tyler mentioned there up 14 7 with a minute left in the second quarter of this one and Abdullah. Oregon is driving there. They are getting called for a holding penalty at the moment, but they're driving deep. You know, Ohio State's and looking to go up to scores before halftime in the shoe. Would be huge because this the way this defense has been playing even without two of their best players. Um, that's a lot two touchdowns a lot for Ohio State to come back from. But as we saw, you know, in the opening week of the season they can score at will when they start to click. So if this is something that you know, Ryan Day needs to go in and make some halftime adjustments. If he can do that, then this is still a game. If you can stop and limit this Oregon drive to a field goal that's probably a win right now, as you're going to halftime An Oregon. What had they have? I believe all their time outs right now, Or they have at least two. I can't tell from the screen at the moment, so they do have time to get some work done against the Buckeyes before the half that came in Columbus, Uh, looking at the rest of the college football slate last weekend. The marquee matchup early was Alabama against Miami, and that game ended early. I mean, There's 10. Nothing After one going into halftime, it was 27 to 3. Miami looked pathetic and Alabama rocked Price. Young was fantastic for touchdowns. Uh, you know, in really Alabama looked like the true power that they have been for quite some time now, when it comes to this weekend now Have a cupcake Abdel because your face off against Mercer for the home opener for the Crimson Tide. They're not the only team ranked high that has a cupcake this weekend. Alabama Mercer. That's a three o'clock game on the SCC network. Oklahoma faces off against Western Carolina. You know the fighting Western Carolina, folks. Whatever their mascot is. I have no idea. Do you Carolina ins? Do you know? Do you have any idea what the Western Carolina mascot is? Taking on Oklahoma. Odds are it's a wildcat. Just because that's that's just the odds on favorite Just because of what With what? We have presented him from us. Let's see if I have. I have no idea. No idea. I'm trying. I can't even find Oklahoma. Here we go. Let's see. It's a Western Carolina. Uh, Catamounts, the Kalamazoo. That's kind of cool to look. Look at the helm. It's It's a nice It's a homemade with a w C U and a Catamount logo right below. It works. What? What is a Catamount believe it's a big cat. Like a mountain cat. Okay, Cool. Alright, So I think I was close, right? Like you know another Catamount and collegiate athletics. Uh huh. I know of one other No at least know what do you got? Vermont? Yeah, them out. Okay. It's a great It's a cougar type of cat. So I mean, it's a variation of a big cat, Katima. I'll take credit for I'll take that as a win because I said Wildcat, like At least I was in the same fewer. Yeah, Yeah, Okay, So let me give you another one. Because it's not only Alabama who is the number one team in the country, playing a cupcake in Oklahoma, the number two team in the country who's playing a cupcake, but then you also get Clemson the number 16 in the country looking for a bounce back victory against South Carolina state at four o'clock on the network, South Carolina State. Do you have any idea what the logo is for South Carolina State Now, if you're not going to go wild cat Perhaps you could give me a different, uh, obvious logo and pit it right on the head on this one, South Carolina. Well, it's probably not a bird because they probably want to distance themselves from South Carolina. They probably don't want to be a Gamecock or any form of bird away from Gamecock. Yes, yes, The other. The other stereotypical male name from Wildcat is then a dog. So like a bulldog or something that so nailed it. Bulldog Carolina State Bulldogs. How about that? Damn Clemson, Oklahoma, Alabama, all feasting on some Cupcakes. Really pathetic. Really, When you think about these teams Playing such trash schools in the second week of the college football slave. Why not be like a real school like Syracuse play someone real or be like a real school like USC player rivalry team and weak too, But Nope. Alabama. Hold on. Alabama needs to have the easy schedule set up for them to face off against Mercer. You know what they say? My friends taking on the.

"With J B and the guys the NFL today noon Eastern nine. Pacific. The NFL is back Sunday on C. B s. When you're an underdog, you've got to have luck on your side. When you're a big underdog in college football. Gotta have luck. Gotta have balls. And so far, Oregon has both. 4 50 to go. Second quarter The Ducks lead the Buckeyes 14 7. Oregon fourth and one. Inside the Ohio State 20 yard line, They go for it. And Anthony Brown. The quarterbacks find CJ Verdell on a touchdown pass. Uh, speech threw out of the backfield. So Ohio State. The last time they had the ball, they marched right down and scored. Now they're looking to do it again. Here. It's more than two minutes, They got more than enough time. Take the ball, tie the game and go into the half and Ryan Day can say Look, we haven't played our best game. It's the number 12 opponent in the country. This is a team that's better than the team we played last week. Um We've got nowhere, not know where to go with it go but up, but We've played a pretty lousy first half and we're tied with 30 minutes ahead of us like that should be the goal of Ohio State right now, even if they even if they come away with points here, and they trailed 14 10 You know, do something positive before the end of the half to give yourself a reason. To be to give your team a backhanded compliment, really at the half. Oregon has to be thrilled. They had to basically play this game in their pajamas. With a nine a.m. game for them. Pacific time. They don't have the best player in college football. Cavon Thibodeau. That's not my analysis. That's what the NFL draft experts think. They've got the best defensive player in college football watching he's in. He's got sunglasses on. He's watching the game from the sidelines because of an ankle injury so they don't have their version of an Aaron Donald or a Myles Garrett type to blow up the other team's offensive game plan. And they've only given up one scoring drive. They played bend. But don't break defense. That old cliche they've allowed for Ohio State to move the ball into Oregon territory, but they haven't come away with any points. So Ohio State right now is at the Oregon 48 yard line. They've got three minutes and change to try to come away with some points here in salvage the first half. You know the difference between Minnesota and Oregon. If I'm Ohio State is this Oregon is used to winning. Minnesota, even though they had the home crowd behind him, and they've beaten teams like Penn State in Minneapolis. They've won their fair share with P J. Black They, you know they've been David to Goliath before. Minnesota, especially when they're running back on injured reality set in that they weren't they didn't have the same type of the Jimmy and Joe's. Their players didn't line up with Ohio State's Oregon's guys for the most part. You know, you know who they were. They were players. They were guys who sat down in their high school cafeteria or high school gym with Mommy and daddy next to him and their coach, and they had, like six or seven hats in front of them. On, uh, you know, on national signing day. And the logos were. Alabama, Oregon, USC Stanford. Texas. I mean, these are all four and five star guys. There's no intimidation factor there. So Oregon is in position right now to do something that the Pac 12 This is a nirvana feeling for the Pac 12, potentially They went 77 last week. In the first week. College football the Pac 12 1 just as many games as as it lost Its top teams lost, too. Opponents like Utah State and Montana. Now they got else you they got the L S U Win U. C L A s two n o But it's been a long, long time. The Pac 12 is not beaten, the team ranked in the top 10. In nonconference play. I'm not talking about bowl games. I'm talking about regular season games and more than five years, the last time they beat a team ranked this high Ohio State's three I mean, the last time they ranked a team, they beat a team in the top 15. Was four years ago. So this gives the Pac 12 what it would do is if Oregon wins this game. They do us see a favor. They do. Utah favor who plays at BYU tonight. I don't think Arizona State's really it contender and Washington's already lost to Montana, but What they do is they give the Pac 12 They give the Pac 12 breathing room. They would have it would allow for a Pac 12 team to go 12 and one and make it into the playoffs. Because it would be a conference that scored big wins in September, which is something that they haven't done in years. Oregon's played Auburn on a neutral field and lost Washington did the same thing a few years ago. So she is hugely important game for not just the Ducks program at the conference. Alright, Ohio State's going to go for it fourth and two at the Oregon 39 yard line. We'll tell you about that when we come back, I'll also tell you the biggest storylines in week one of the NFL when I think Uh, well, I'll tell you now. Oregon just stopped him. Penny Souls brother stepped in and made the play Holy crap. I'm telling you with Ohio State. How long do you stay with Stroud? If you can't score with the with these weapons I would think about a quarterback change 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 is the number you can follow me on Twitter at the Pony Express Pony spelled P O N I. "Today's college football kickoff since the Pac 12 verse, the Big 10 with 12 ranked Oregon, traveling to Columbus for a noon Eastern kick off first, the nation's third ranked Ohio State Buckeyes reached Davis Kirk. Um, street. Look ahead. PAC 12 needs a little credibility, lost 14 straight regular season games on the road against top 10 opponents and then get off really, to a great start top to bottom last week in week one, and this is a game that they need it the very least be competitive. If you're Ohio State fan, you're not overly familiar with Oregon. One thing you're going to have to realize is offensively They have a lot of speed CJ Verdell in the backfield. Johnny Johnson, Michael Pittman. These guys can all score in a blink of an eye very similar to what Ohio State has. The key to me will be Anthony Brown, the quarterback to transfer from Boston College. Got a year last year We got some reps and Joe Moritz offense. How will he play against the secondary from Ohio State? Let's be candid, their bit vulnerable. Can they find some big playability? Because, in my opinion, they're going to have to score with Ohio State. And with that Ohio State offense, I don't think that the Ducks will slow him down in Columbus and the storyline that will be watching on college GameDay Cavon Thibodeau best player in college football, in my judgment, heard an ankle against president State. Will he be able to go for the Ducks against Ohio State? His presence will be needed for those ducks. How about a top 10 matchup offering number? 10, Iowa at ninth ranked Iowa State, It's on ABC at 4 30 Eastern, the annual Sai Hawking canceled last season because of the pandemic, Iowa has won the last five meetings. Joey Galloway on SportsCenter asked me before last weekend. I probably said Iowa State because of returning so much talent. "Camp Randall, one of my favorite places to go to games, grammars and company, and I'm a Lucy who I don't know much about him running back, but they do have Jalen Burger back receiving wise. Danny Davis still there. Kendrick Prior, Jack, none. Excellent tight end one of the best and Jake Ferguson and Jack Sanborn and Leo channeler back. As far as linebacking corps in these two guys 98 tackles between them last year in a shortened season, Penn State Sean Clifford running the show, so that's why Levi's transferred cane they get Jon Lovett, who transfers over there, and John Dodson is still back along with Parker. Washington to receive Passes. Those two guys got 14 touchdowns. 88 receptions in over 1300 yards between them, and then you got Ellis Brooks is back. This team gave up 28 sacks the last year. Penn State Bradley only got 21 themselves. Your take here, Wisconsin, a 5.5 point favorite at Camp Randall. Total of 48 a half up to 49 some places. You know me, Katie. I'm not afraid to make a bet this time of year. I didn't make it bad on this one. I think it's fair side and total burgers might not play in these questionable for Wisconsin. That's a big worry that I have we're at after Penn State is how they handle the atmosphere of North Carolina and to handle it too. Well, today, some other teams I didn't handle it too well, either, so and you don't camp Randall B Rock and so might be a shock depends state system, but the blind spare. It's a situation where I lay four. Take 6 6.5 of Penn State. Alright there it is, By the way, Michigan State got a field goal. It is 31 14 sparty up with 5 28 to go in Evanston as well see the end of that game right now Northwestern up against it on the 3rd and 13. So we'll keep an eye on that game as it rolls on down. Ken Thompson, Brad Powers of Friday football fiasco Be a lot more organized next week Rich in Arkansas. It's a race team that they've got Luke McAffrey over there. Wiley Green. So a couple of decent quarterbacks, the Owls team that always likes to run the ball going up against Arkansas, an impressive showing in the debut last year for the coach Sam Pittman, K. J. Jefferson back and trailing Berks Right now the receiver who had seven touchdowns was listed as questionable. Last I saw They do have bumper pool back and grant Morgan. How about these two guys? Linebackers at 111 and 101 tackles Morgan with 1 11 bumper pool. Great name with 101, However, Arkansas 34 sacks they allowed. They only got 14 themselves. They better be careful this year in the SEC. They've got to turn that number around somewhat to be competitive in the sec. But who do you like in this one. Arkansas minus 19.5 49 a half the total from Fayetteville. A lot of people like rice. I mean, the money's coming on our, but I think people forget all improve. The Arkansas was last year. I mean, there are a couple plays away from making a bowl game, and that was after coming into season losing 20 straight. SEC game, So I'm a big fan of Tampa and big fan of Kendall Briles the offense corner. Remember, they run up tempo, so any time you are laying with a favorite, it's all about the temple for me. So I surname with Arkansas. All right, next game on the docket, a big one from a good pal Brian Panish as Jake Connor and Fresno State come off the win against UConn rather handily, 45 nothing he threw for 3 31 and three touchdowns. Ronnie Rivers only ran for 58 yards, but had two receptions for 66 in a touchdown. Mims had 38 yards on seven carries and in jail in Cropper, excellent game with three receptions 87 in the touchdown. Eric Brooks solid five receptions as well. The defense had four sacks didn't give up any now they go to Eugene. They go up in class against Anthony Brown, who looks like he'll be running the show with the shock, of course, transferring to Texas Tech CJ Verdell travesty is still there and then you have Michael Pittman now. Looking healthy. Johnny Johnson, the third and then cavon Thibodeau, one of the best in the in the in the whole, uh, college as far as defensive end, and this guy plays like a linebacker. He's got that speed like a Khalil Mack type. And so he will be very high in the NFL draft. Noah Sewell also back middle linebacker, very solid. Oregon, a big favorite 20.5. It's staying steady. There hasn't pushed 21 yet. 63 a half Brad from Eugene. You don't think it's going to get their kpi? I just think people would take 21 President State. Uh, a tough number. I think it's about right. I mean, if they got to 21, I'd probably in President State but 20 right around where I put it. Obviously, the question is how motivated as Oregon to get margin with the Buckeyes on back so I mean, I'm not sure that they are extremely motivated and banged up on defense. Uh, been 21. It's president stated 20. It's an old play. There you go. West Virginia and Maryland. Jared Jared Gigio will lead the way at 14 touchdowns last year, missed a few games. But Lenny Brown very solid, went over 1000 yards in nine games last year for the Mountaineers, and Neil Brown did a nice job there. They've got some players. There's no question, you know, linebackers pretty solid. They've got method or saw the defensive lineman coming back. Also a couple receivers Ford, weeping and right. Pretty good to give Daddy some card. You know some continuity there on the offensive side, but to lead to a tongue of buy low. I really enjoyed watching him last year. At the beginning. I thought, Man, this kid is going to struggle mightily. Nothing like his brother. But I liked what I saw out of him, and he's a lot faster than I thought. And I think there's potential there for Locksley's guys Flee Davis a pretty good running Back, and then you have Dennis Jones and Jared. Decent receivers for the Terps there at home. Maryland is plus 2.5. Now there are still some threes. You can find a three at circa bed, MGM. I played this. I got plus 3.5 in Maryland. Where are you on this one. Yeah. I think, 4.5. Of course she did. Yeah, Of course I did. I know people like Of course you did. What? Why did I mean, if I got both tickets, I'll do it to prove it. But you do you know to me It wasn't like I was in love with Maryland. I'm just you know, I'm well connected. And I know who you know which group of people like Swart. What teams? The one that I knew Maryland would be our favorite team of the analytics guys just because of yards per play and whatnot there explosiveness. Is really good, at least for a team. That wasn't very good as far as a record last year, so I anticipated money to come in in Maryland. We've seen that about men at the current number. I mean the consensus right now, 2.5. I wouldn't have about there and the thing of this real quick, Katie Mean Maryland is very tough to trust of Mike Locksley. I mean, they have higher upside. In my opinion in West Virginia, West Virginia is the more consistent program. I can't disagree with that. Even with the coaching change, Indiana and Iowa this one of my favorite games of the day, Michael panics Junior back. I mean, you missed a few games last year, played the first six and then title came in. But my boy Stephen Car from SC transfers there they still have Hendershot. The tight end back, had four touchdowns last year and type fryfogle as long as he is healthy and ready to go seven touchdowns last year. Marshall Matthews decent receivers as well. Michael McFadden. Excellent linebacker leads the way for the defense. And then you go up against Spencer Petrus, who seemed like he was coming into his own last year late for Iowa..

"I think that pass-catching running back has to come in at some point in the less and you brought this up on the show yesterday and it is a possibility with all of the stuff jonnu Smith can do to see kind of become that you know, you can line up in the backfield. Does he become that third-down out? Outfield option I don't think that's the best use for him. I don't think that's maximizing your but maybe that's the law me though. I feel like I like it even more because I didn't really buy into that until they sign Henry then because now you have a guy that's still threatening between the numbers and up the Steam and vertically up the field and you have Johnny Smith in that sort of role. I'm not sure if Johnny Smith has the page real short area agility and quickness of a guy like an Aaron Hernandez at the top of the route. I guess we'll see as we watch him more and watch him in the Patriots uniform if he's able to have that sort of Wiggle that are in Iraq has had that's what made him a viable option in terms of that third-down pass catching back roll or playing running back and said he played some fullback to for the Patriots lining of the backfield and catching passes out of a fullback alignment too. That's what made that a possibility so we'll see if John is Smith has that gear if he has that ability, but certainly is an option, right and the one other running back that I am. To mention somebody mentioned him in chat Damien Williams just got released by the Kansas City Chiefs. He's somebody that can do a little bit of everything. He kind of reminds me of like a Rex Burkhead. I can run the ball between the tackles else can catch the ball out of the backfield a little bit. Maybe that's more of if it were me I would prefer them to go after that sort of guy then sell remember he killed him in that playoff game. So he kind of has that off for me. I think he's a possibility and then I look at Jamaal Williams from Green Bay and somebody brought up in the chat to Duke Johnson who's bounced around a little bit like Jack's the guy a more expecting to go after but those guys will be there. I don't know that Chris Carson is is a free agent by the time we get to Friday. I don't I don't I doubt Leonard. I'm surprised Leonard fournette still a free agent, but he's probably got a day more on him Max. So maybe it's bringing in that guy then your trade Sony Michelle and that opens up the spot where they go and they get that third-down back, but I still I I still think that matters James White and Rex Burkhead are both gone home. People the draft to draft Michael Williams in dmytryk Felton and CJ verdell all good players. Definitely possibilities wouldn't hate it. But you're really young at that position and off with some of those guys are really small what that operates right? You're you're you're like you're saying for the first year, right? You know what James White we've seen with Damien Harris..

"Step we. Unfortunately, there was the holding penalty that negated the touchdown going into the half. But him as a runner has been really, really electric, and he's been fine, able to find open receivers in tight windows against the very, very talented I was state defense. Anthony Brown couple of rushing touchdowns in the first half. 62 from New Jersey grad transferred from B. C. It's a pass on the first plane. It is caught Jalen running across her out to the 45 yard line and tackle that the 49 yard line by ice seem young and 19 Yard Pass. Plato Open up the third. And that's that third part of that triple option that John Hancock mentioned really this how this Oregon offense operates, burst in 10 ducks, Brown play faking a roll to the right looking downfield floats one right side like coming back to get it and not able to hang on to it out of bounds. So we'll be Michael Pittman. Whitman claps his hands in a little bit of discussed that he had a chance to come back. And now that one incomplete it'll be second down in 10. He's been the most successful receiver for Oregon today. But like I mentioned the triple option aspect of this organ offense, it's not the classic triple option. It's a zone read, where he can hand the ball off to the running back. Keep it and run it himself for the third option, which makes it unique is the throwing aspect and that's what he had in two clays ago. Second down a 10 give to Travis Die on the left.
