"Line, I noticed that Mike Evans wore sneakers for sneaking. And that'll do it for The Simpsons clip of the week. But yeah, I mean, this was it. It was like, it's like, oh, yeah, they were trailing, and then they repeatedly threw it downfield to a wide open guy who everyone knows is the guy they try to get wide open down field. Yeah, I mean, listen, you save this to be clipped and played when Tom Brady wins another Super Bowl and I look like a huge idiot, but this team got carved up by Sam darnold today. This is not a, this is not a playoff caliber football team. The Panthers deserve to win this game. Not deserved, but should have won this game. And yeah, I don't know what the theory or the strategy is. I don't really want to think about it because it costs me a few shekels in terms of fantasy football winnings, but yeah, how do you not cover that guy? Kirk curve street who just followed me here. He's the most obvious analyst in the history of football to the point where I think it was like a rams game a couple of weeks ago. And he goes, yeah, 9 9 Aaron Donald, you know, you've got to watch out for that guy. And I was like, sure, you definitely have to watch out for the greatest defensive player, perhaps in the history of football. If Kirk, she was one of this defense, he'd be like, yeah, one, three. Let's just, let's make sure we guard that guy. And nobody did it. You know, maybe they should hire Kirk herbs street. I don't know. Oh man. There was the one where he was like completely uncovered. It was just such a, I don't know, it was just a feeble deke off the line of scrimmage where he's kind of like a loafing off the line of scrimmage, like CJ Henderson just stops. And it's like, no, no, no, that's his, that's the thing he's doing. Oh my goodness. Heartbreaking here for the Panthers who obviously had a nice run. Let's hope Steve Wilkes and Ben mcadoo get to run this back a little bit. Yeah, Ben mcadoo. Going out there. I'm telling you, buddy. Just ripping up that buck's defense with Sam darnold and company. I thought he did a nice job. He did. He absolutely did. They look good in those teal unis today too. I like that. It was like the teal white combo. I think works for Sam stylistically. Oh, that's good in that. Okay. Saints eagles. And the saints were eliminated, though they did knock off the eagles, which this was kind of a neat if you are a draft obsessive and I know the city of Philadelphia is. This was one of those games where it was like, oh, if the eagles beat the saints, they moved their draft pick even higher up in the first round. And then it didn't quite work out here. A couple of things. This is a good week for, I don't know. What's the, what's the adjective? I want to use here to describe Marshawn Lattimore and Jai or Alexander as guys who are just kind of dominant when they feel like it. Which is not always, but when they want to be, they are. And they both add really big big games this week. You're not going to draw a huge conclusions off a game with your backup quarterback if you're the eagles. But I think the one thing that continues to be a little bit worrisome is in the postseason are you going to end up facing, let's say, a forty-niners or we talk about the pack or a little bit. And their run game, are they going to just string together a lot of 8 and 9 minute drives and sort of kill the clock in the second half and really shrink that margin of error for your offense because that's kind of what happened here. Granted the eagles could not do anything offensively in the first half when they actually got the ball, but I think they at one point had run 9 plays with like 30 seconds left in the half because they just went three and out three and out three and out. But saints opened this with like a 9 minute drive and there was a whole lot of like Taysom Hill 11 man run game just, you know, running into a pile and then the pile moves like four yards down the field and then you get up and you do it again. Concerning about a broken tackles on Taysom Hill runs by the way for a team that spent an awful lot of money down the stretch to upgrade their run defense. Yeah. I don't know. I just still can't accept. I know that he's very good at this. I just can't accept the idea that people can't tackle him. I just, it doesn't work in my brain. And I'll stick with that. But yeah, this offense looked disjointed. Gardner minshew just kept pulling the ball down like he wasn't getting rid of it. And then almost had a kind of a vintage like Freddie kitchens, Baker Mayfield Y kind of thing where he was just drifting and trying to make something happen downfield that wasn't going to happen. And it didn't look good. And I mean, whatever, the 13 and three. So yeah, who really cares? And you're gonna get Jalen hurts back for the playoffs, but you're right. I mean, I do think that we know what this team's vulnerability is. And it'll be interesting whether or not they're able to mask it for long. They'll make it to super bowl. There was like a third in medium or two where he pulled it down, tried to create something and just didn't really go anywhere, and it was kind of like, oh yeah, that was chilling hurt. That's probably like a 7 yard gain and a first down in the drive is alive at this point. By the way, do you know who Andy Benoit's comp was for Gardner minshew when Gardner and she was a rookie in Jacksonville. Oh. Let me think. And I can't not see it now. Although it's taken on it's taken on a different feel when I tell you in a second. Is it Tim couch? No. He's like, Garner minchu is. He's like, government you is stylistically he's Russell Wilson just without the natural talent, the mobility and the top notch arms strength. Oh God. That's how he just improvises when there's not necessarily a reason to improvise. And it just doesn't, it doesn't work out as well as often as it did for Russell Wilson earlier in his career. Wow. "Do they not? I don't care if Seattle wins that game. I just want them to lose by handing the ball to Marshawn Lynch. I would have been way more compelling and you could at least defend that. Ruined Daryl bevel's career. My guess is in Jacksonville, losing games with a rookie quarterback throwing a bunch of interceptions, I don't know. I don't know, but still, oh man. Here's a what if? There's that new marvel show. I'm not promoting it but there's a new marvel show. It's actually, I don't like what it very much. I wanted more stuff to be really good and what if scenarios that marvel's giving us are not that compelling to me? They're not what I want. Although the T'Challa episode is star lord is pretty cool. Here is the ultimate what if it's all I'm going to say this and it's not political, I'm not, I just food for thought. I'm not going to add any commentary really. I'm just going to say think about this for a moment. Imagine if Colin Kaepernick had beat the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl instead of losing. Remember, the forty-niners had momentum. And there was a power outage. And the blackout changed the outcome of that game and changed momentum. Imagine if Colin Kaepernick, what if Colin Kaepernick had won a Super Bowl? I'm not touching that. I'm not saying anything. But it's a big.

"Okay. Brandon writes in, it's that Zack, if you could change the outcome of one Super Bowl, which Super Bowl would it be and why? What changes do you think that outcome would have had on the league with that team winning? I've got one, two, three, four super bowls that I think would have been interesting. With a different outcome. The first one that came to mind was the Patriots undefeated season they went 17 and they couldn't go 18 and know they lost to the Giants in 2000 season. In the Super Bowl. And I honestly thought you asked the question, I read it. I thought about it. And then I realized, if I could go back and time travel. And then somehow the control to change the outcome. I don't think I would. I don't think I would have the Patriots. And I love the Patriots dynasty. I'm a massive Tom Brady fan. I don't even hide it. Bill Belichick's endlessly interesting. I can't even talk. And yet, despite my fandom of those human beings, I still am glad they lost. It made the sport better. I think it made Brady mad. I think Tom Brady really, that is driven him for years. That being called a cheater, all the hate, he fuels and he loves it. And that is also fueled. I think by love of the E loves training and working and preparing and I totally relate to that. But the outcome of the Patriots losing in the Super Bowl to the Giants, not once, but actually twice. It showed that a God can bleed, you're not infallible, even. The Patriots. Can lose a football game, and that's endlessly interesting. I need to go for a second. My cat is being insane. So give me a second. I'm sure you didn't hear that. My cat, I'm pretty sure got a running start, ran and jump full speed into my office door. What did you do? Stupid cat. I'm sure you probably didn't hear it. If you did, it was like a crash and a bang. But you probably I think you can't literally hear anything outside of a 5 foot radius of the microphone. Anyway, we're talking about Super Bowl outcomes that I wish had been differently. And I don't know if that's all ones I wish, but it would have been interesting if things had happened differently..

"It good? Is it quality? The question I never ask and it definitely hurts me financially, but I'm good enough so I don't need to worry about it. And that's again because of you guys, thank you. I never need to say, well, this get a lot of views. I can say this is good. And that's a big difference in most people in the media don't do. And I like watching the media scramble man when people after week on the packers, they sell them they're like, well air and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. You can have the entertainment conversation, but it was so weird how you see the back and forth and back and forth about suddenly the forget Aaron Rodgers won the Super Bowl MVP sorry the NFL of appeal last year. Like Erin didn't suddenly forget how to play football after one week. I just had a bad game week one. It happens sometimes. I don't know. I don't know. I mean, it's a little bit fair to question the packers, but some of the stuff I saw were like people saying that Rogers doesn't care. I'm like, what are you talking? What are you talking about? Why would Rogers clearly cares about football? Watches mechanics. I have for years been a guy against Aaron Rodgers. I didn't like Erin for years. And the world has changed so much, I find myself defending Aaron all the time now. And I for years have hated on Aaron's leadership. How am I the guy defending Aaron? I hate when he glares it receivers. But I like what I want to do in this year. I went on a total rant there, I apologize. Thomas writes and he says, I did not expect the Broncos and the Raiders to be on top of their division, the AFC west at the end of week three. Yeah, it's a surprise man. It's fun, though. It probably is not going to last. But still, it's really fun to see Denver and the Las Vegas Raiders..

"I don't know. To me, honestly, my reaction initially when I saw that they were signing Richard Sherman to me showed how desperate Tampa is in their secondary they are so banged up. There's so many injuries in their secondary. However, I will say, even though I am very hesitant to praise this move and say, it's going to be amazing, oh yeah, even though I'm a little bit hesitant, I do also acknowledge that it is a good fit. He's a veteran. He's been around the NFL a ton. And the culture in Tampa, not only because of Tom Brady, but the attitude of Tampa, the way they cater to veterans and they work with their schedules and, hey, if you want to take Wednesday off to keep your body healthy, they're really good about taking care of veteran players and catering their approach to every player individually. And Richard Sherman is not totally useless. He's not the athlete he once was in my opinion. But he's really smart. He still has good technique. It's all like he forgot how to backpedal. It's not like you forgot how to keep a guy in his hip pocket or when a quarterback's about to throw the ball or the little tells. The mental side of the game and everything that Richard Sherman can possibly control, you know he's going to do it to the very best of his ability. And again, I do think that because of Tom Brady, that's a really good environment for a player like Richard Sherman to do well. They're in a position to squeeze the very last good football at a Richard Sherman. And it's a developing story. I am very, very curious to see how Richard Sherman in Tampa will affect that football team. And how good is he going to be? I don't know. I really don't know. But I have an open mind, and it's certainly I think he's going to put his best foot forward now. How good is he really? I don't know, but and I'm not, it would be disingenuous of me to make bold claims that he's going to do this and that who knows..

"An undefeated team that is a lot better than people are giving them credit for. Finally, the worst of the best, they Carolina Panthers are the 5th best three no team in the NFL. I love Carolina. And not just the state, not just the people, I love all of it, the owner, the coach, Sam darnold, the quarterback, the general manager, making moves, trading for really good players, making, like, do you understand, they stole Sam darnold from the jets? They're starting quarterback. He's going to be their franchise quarterback. Maybe for like next ten years, or three games in, I know that's a wild claim, but my point is like, do you understand how much thievery is gone on? With Carolina, the way they built their they just stole CJ Henderson from the Jaguars for a no name tight end Dan Arnold, who better than people realize, but still. Their defense is going to be good for like 6, 7, ten years with siege Henderson, JC horn, and Jeremy chin. It's like, I can't believe the movies are making in Carolina. It's unbelievable. This team is building something in Carolina. There are three you know, the record in my opinion is less impressive when you realize that they're dominating rookie quarterbacks. Zach Wilson and then not even they didn't even be like, the Broncos beat Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson. Carolina beat Zach Wilson and Davis mills. The Houston Texans who are just a train wreck. And then by the way, week two, when Carolina beaten New Orleans, the saints were missing a ton of coaches because of COVID. So it's not like it's the most impressive resume I've ever seen from Carolina. But they do a ton of winnable games that look at Carolina schedule. Philly, Minnesota, Atlanta, twice. The Giants, Washington. I love Caroline. And the reason why Carolina in my opinion is the 5th ranked undefeated team. This is why. I do not believe that Carolina can beat a really good football team yet like a Super Bowl contending football team. At Dallas week four, I think they lose. I think they're going to lose in this upcoming game.

"A week three, the beat Jacksonville, which simply is not impressive win. I don't look at beating Jacksonville. Wow. What a win. So, I don't know. They look good. Arizona should probably be two in one. Right now, they should have lost a Minnesota. But they look good. It's nice to be three, you know, enjoy it. But in my mind, and I love Arizona. I was a big believer in them last year. They kind of burned me. And maybe I was a year too early. I try not to let that cloud my judgment. People always accuse me of letting that happen. I don't, but I'm not a hater. I want Arizona to be great. I love Kyler. I don't want cliff kings already to be fired. I wanted to work out. But I still think Arizona has a lot to prove this year. And there are three games this year, I guess, three, four. There's some games here that are going to teach us a lot about this Arizona football team. Week 6, they play at Cleveland. It's a big deal. Week 8 against Green Bay. Week 17 at Dallas, can they go on the road? And beat Cleveland. Can they go on the road and be Dallas? Can they beat the rams? Week four on the road. Can they get two games against the forty-niners this year? Those are the games that will be the defining games of their season. Yeah, the cardinals can beat up on bad teams. Probably should have lost a Minnesota. But how do they play against some of the best teams in the NFL? Are they that good yet? I don't know. I want to believe in Arizona. I just don't trust them yet. I'm just not ready to say they're going to go on the road and beat some of the best teams in the NFL at the rams at Cleveland. And once I see that, hey, then I get it. Then I can support that. But until I see them in a big game on the road against a Super Bowl contender until then I am skeptical, although hopefully they will do well. If they beat the rams this weekend, and would they be if they'd be the ransom like three touchdowns? You bet your bippy I'm gonna be all in on Arizona. But I don't trust them to do that yet. Now the third best undefeated team in the NFL, it's a tricky answer, right? It's going to make, wow, I'll pick a side fair enough. The Denver Broncos are the third best undefeated team in the NFL. And number one, here's the elephant in the room..

"Cold side of tough schedule early on. The offensive line was really banged up week one. I mean, you can't, you can't have half your offensive line injured and expect to do well. And week two, they played the rams, who might be the best team in the entire film. This is like the litmus test for Indianapolis. They played the LA rams who are potentially going to win the Super Bowl. And the rams won by three points. Against Indy. And if Carson Wentz doesn't get hurt at the end of that game, he left the game early. Carson could not play in the final drive, which would have given the colts an opportunity to tie the game or take the lead. What happens if Carson Wentz doesn't get hurt week two against the rams? That's how good the colts are. Don't sleep on them. And you know, they lost in week three to a pretty solid Titans team. Titans, by the way, in my opinion, match up perfectly with the colts. I mean, they just have a brutal match up for the colts. I don't know that the colts are going to be the Titans either time they played them this year. But the colts are better than L and three. Indianapolis is underachieving if you ask me. And I actually think that if the colts can add like a stud receiver, a man if they can figure out left tackle and get consistent play. I don't know that Eric Fisher is the guy. He's injured. I don't know if I trust him yet. Is Eric Fisher gonna be able to play next year and the year after that? I don't know or think so. If the colts can get another player in their secondary, they're two or three moves away. From like a Super Bowl run in my opinion. If Carson stays healthy, they add a couple players, like the cold sore a very good football team that should not be zero and three. And they've had a very, very.

"Of guys retire on the spot. You're making NFL players do like high school punishments. It's very bizarre. And I wonder, is Joe judges really tough kind of hard edge already in year two wearing people out? It's possible. It's certainly not it's not a wild, crazy out of left field notion that maybe Joe judges leadership style is not really good and not really enjoyable and conducive to winning football games. I don't know, he sounds like a coach in the 1950s. The stories you hear, the laps he makes people run like these are grown men who are trying to take care of their bodies and training camps sounded like hell in New York. Now, the Giants offensive line is completely awful. I hate the way this football team is built. If they were me, I'm firing Dave gettleman today. Maybe tomorrow if I could. Dave gettleman, I hate calling for someone's job. I don't do it very often. But I just think it's a philosophical difference between me and Joe judge the way he's built. The Giants football team clearly does not value offensive linemen. He thinks he can bring in old guys like Nate solder, and sorry, you need to draft offensive lineman, and you don't need to drop to running back number two overall. I'll say that till I'm dead. Say comb Barkley was a terrible pick, and I even acknowledge how good he is. He just should never drop the running back number two overall. Ed Clinton Nelson right there, you could have grabbed Nick Chubb in the second round. I got to make a whole topic about it. Ah, it's so frustrating. Now, the one shocking bright spot about the New York Giants is that their quarterback Daniel Jones hasn't been terrible. And then the other way beat washing in a week too, and I was looking at Daniel Jones and he played pretty well, and it wasn't his fault that they lost. And that was a shock. To me, I'm like, okay. And then I realized, well, Dana Jones is only 24 years old. He's in year two of Jason Garrett's offensive system. And I realized I have an open mind about Daniel Jones. And I'm really curious how the rest of the year goes for him. So maybe if Daniel Jones can avoid turnovers and play solid, he might even keep his job at the end of the year. And I certainly, I thought if the giant's lost a bunch of games, it would be because Daniel Jones is holding it back. And it's actually the opposite. It's everything but Daniel's Jones right now. And that is unbelievable to me. Now, the second best zero and three team in the NFL is the Detroit Lions. They have been really competitive actually. They almost beat the forty-niners week one. They almost came back and made a massive comeback against the forty-niners late. The Lions led Green Bay at halftime in week two. They were up 17 to 14 Jared Goff was playing out of his mind in the first half. And then in week three, the lines should have won. Maybe they had a brutal loss where Baltimore pulled off a fourth and 19 and then kicked the longest field goal in NFL history.

"Something seems a bit off. Why is a head coach talking to a player's parents an adult NFL player's parents about said players future? I don't know. I'm curious if we will ever learn more. Because I just wonder maybe 5 years from now. Ten years from now. A year from now when you retire, someday I hope we hear the backstory and learn why CJ Henderson was traded away from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Okay. I'm going to answer questions throughout the entire episode. So I'm just going to introduce ask Zach now. Ask Zach is my favorite. It's not really a segment today. It's just an aspect of the entire show. I'm going to dip in and out of questions from the audience. In case you do not know how it works. Ask Zach is where I answer questions from the audience questions, comments, concerns. I always every week put on Patreon and say, hey, right into the show. Tell me what you think. Your question, you gotta concern, you gotta comment, you got maybe a correction. Like, whatever you got. I love hearing from the audience and it's a way to do it. So if you in case you do not know how it works, you got a Patreon dot com forward slash Schaumburg, you give a dollar a month. That's a $12 a year. That's all it takes. $1 a month gives you access to submit questions on Patreon. Now you can give more than a dollar a month, please do. I'm begging you. It really would mean a lot to me. It helps me pay my Rhett kidding. That's a real honest thing. But I think a dollar a month is a fair, tiny, very low barrier to entry to submit questions on Patreon. Now, my guarantee on my end is I do not guarantee to read your question on the show. My only guarantee is I look at every single question with my eyeballs. I read them. I look at them, I consider them. And then I pick the top couple I try to read them on the show and I try to every episode of work as many as I possibly can into the show. But that is, if anyone who doesn't know, that is ask Zach fully explained. Now, Anthony wrote in, first question of the day. He says, who is the best of the Owen three teams right now? So there are 5 teams right now that are zero and three. Indy, Detroit, the jets, the Jaguars, and the New York Giants. The boys in blue, the G men. I almost mixed G men and boys in blue and they're like, I said, gee blue, and that's not a thing at all. I want to rank the O and three teams from worst to best. So by the end, we will figure out.

"The Jacksonville Jaguars. Now part of the problem with CJ Henderson the reason why one small factor why they traded him away is he got hurt last year. He played an 8 games during his rookie year last fall. And then he missed last week due to an injury. And that's a factor, right? Injury concerns. He's not always available. That's a real thing that I think is keeping Jacksonville from really readily embracing C genders on support of why they traded him. But this is what the trade really boiled down to between Jacksonville and Carolina. The Jaguars felt like they had a number of really solid corners. They have rookie Tyson Campbell, Trey herndon's coming back from an injury. They have they get Shaq Griffin a massive contract in free agency. They've got like three corners that they feel very good about that are clearly in Jacksonville's opinion, good enough to be starters in the NFL. Maybe they believe they don't need CJ Henderson, they're like, what we really need is a tight end. Our young quarterback's really struggling. He needs a tight end badly. And clearly, very obviously based on the trade, Jacksonville decided they needed a tight end more than they needed CJ Henderson. That's what happens when you trade make that trade. And again, I realize this trade looks bad trading a former first round pick for an unknown tight end. But it looks way worse than it is. The Jaguars filled a hole on their roster. I'm kind of beating that to go around, but you have to understand. I know how it looks optically, but it looks worse than it is. Now, the reason why Carolina, Jaguar fans are skeptical like, well, if ten Arnold's so, so good and capable, why would Carolina get rid of him? And I understand where you're coming from, I get it. You're frustrated. You were excited about the future of your first round pick and now you got rid of him for a guy you've never heard of. But the only reason why Carolina was willing to get rid of Dan Arnold a very good receiving Ted end was because of the emergence of a rookie tight end, Tommy tremble. Tommy tremble is a third round pick out of Notre-Dame. He's fast. He's got good hands. He's a good blocker. He's just like a good all around football player. Like he's a tight end who had a rushing touchdown against Houston on Thursday at football. How many tight ends in the NFL have a rushing touchdown ever? Let alone in their rookie year. And so Carolina is expecting that when you give Tommy tremble a bigger role as head end, they expect he's gonna rise to the occasion and they're like, yeah, we like Dan Arnold. But we got another guy behind him. We basically, the Jaguars are rich at corner. And the Panthers were the tight end position. And they made a trade that will benefit both of them. But again, I believe Carolina will win this trade in the long run, because with a good players around him and the culture of the Panthers have, I believe CJ Henderson is going to develop into a star. Now, I do have to add this one thing because this is a final little topic's done. We finished it, but this is one little final like looming question. I think what to call it like a stinger, maybe you go to a marvel movie and the credits roll, and then there's like one more hook at the end..

"The potential in Carolina right now. It already was ridiculous yet, Sam darnold, who's never really had the help he deserved, he got a great coaching staff, you got a great owner who's investing tons of money in the franchise, they're building something really cool. And then they go get CJ Henderson a player that it's just oh man, it's awesome. And I talked in the preseason about how one of the keys to the Jaguar season is can they develop their young talent? This isn't in my notes, but now that I think about it, it's like, well, Carolina is clearly doing a amazing job developing their young talent so far in Jacksonville, they've already traded away a first round pick. They gave up on CJ Henderson. I think having good players around CJ Henderson in Carolina is going to help him. They're all building something together. Plus the defensive coordinator and Carolina is a fantastic dude, Phil snowy's awesome. I think CJ is going to enjoy playing for Phil snow. It's going to be a good time there. Now, this will not be remembered as the Dan Arnold trade. We're not going to look back and go, hey, remember the Dan Arnold trait? No, no, no. However, Dan Arnold is a really talented receiving tight end. He's been underrated in my opinion ever since he was with Arizona Cardinals. He made a couple of catches, two, three years ago that I was like, is anybody this new Dan Arnold? I know, not a household name at all, but he is making great plays. And Jacksonville desperately needed a title. This was a move that solve the big problem a hole in their roster. They went out and they got their young quarterback Trevor Lawrence a rookie. Number one overall pick I mean, if you get a young quarterback, your job is to build a team around them and provide them with weapons. Hey, credit the Jaguars, they went out and got Dan Arnold that really, really.

"Three, two, one. Oh my goodness. Good morning, good afternoon. Whatever it is for you, I hope you're having a fantastic day. My name is Zach shameer. There's a strong opinion sports episode 300 and 90. We are ten away from 400. I remember 300. It's been 90 episodes since then. That's unbelievable. I've been pumping about like crazy. I love you. I appreciate it. I don't think I say that enough actually. I am just so grateful for the people who watch and listen to this podcast. It is 6, 55 in the morning, trying to get this recorded before the jackhammer starts. Probably at about 8 o'clock morning. So I'm trying to get it done. I got about an hour. Let's jump in. I want to start today with a correction, actually. The other day I said the Raiders won the Super Bowl in 2002. That's not true. I don't know what I was thinking. The Raiders did go to the Super Bowl in 2002. However, they lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who were actually coached at the time by John Gruden. It's a crazy story. In 2001, John Gruden coached the Raiders. And then he was actually traded. And yes, coaches can get traded. I think a lot of people don't even know that. He got traded at Tampa. And he replaced Tony dungy, by the way. Tony dungy, who went on to win a Super Bowl with Peyton Manning and indie, Tony dungy was fired after by Tampa, after the 2001 season. But then it gets really crazy because the very next year, John Gruden's very first year coaching in Tampa. He beat the team that traded him away in the Super Bowl. So in other words, the Raiders traded away their head coach, John Gruden, already a crazy move. And then 11 months later, after trading him away, they lost to him in the Super Bowl. It's one of those things where I wish I've been broadcasting back then. It would have been so fun to cover that. That story, that's as compelling as Brady versus Belichick playing each other years later. That's unbelievable. I mean, I was 5 years old and that happened, but I wish I could go back and that's like one of the only things in my lifetime I really legitimately missed out on that I'm like, man, that would have been an unbelievably fun story to cover. By the way, the Raiders traded, it's an awful trade. They traded John Gruden away for two first round picks and two second round picks, and then $8 million in cash. And now Davis God bless him. Maybe forever rest in peace. Old age. I don't know. I still, I wish, again, I wasn't alive really cognizant of the sports world at this time. I wish I could have heard the arguments people made because where people in favor of it did they like it. I know my history fairly well, but I don't know what the media was saying in 2001, or 2002 when the trade happened. So by the way, I remember John Gruden's last ever game..

"This is something I have argued with people about over and over and over again. We'll get into what the end of the NFL draft. Looks like It is. Now we get Kind of in that Malays of all right. We're gonna get OTA is at the end of this month of anybody cares. And then June and July are all right. We're gonna watch the NBA playoffs and we're gonna watch Major League baseball and that's really it before the NFL gets things going. This is what I like to call vacation season. This is the time that all of us would work in sports Talk radio the end of June the beginning of July, obvious spending some time in one of these Caribbean islands or Mexico. I'm not sure which one yet, but I got to get away. 2020 took away my one like I always a week vacation with wife. We send the kids somewhere. And then we go on a week vacation somewhere was just her and I We drink fruity drinks with umbrellas in them, and we eat a lot of fattening food laying on the beach. And I hope that I sweat away coming back afterwards. But 2020, obviously with Cove it wrecked all of that, and it took away you know, took away a lot of our time to just You know, Let's be honest. Took away a lot of our time to unwind something that a lot of people needed. I no, I'm one of them. I'm blessed. You know, Kevin, I think we're all blessed. When you work in sports talk radio. You've got to be really happy every day to get up and go to work. They're their worst ways to make a living absolutely toughest part for me, literally on a day to day basis is just getting out of bed. My alarm goes off at 4 10 every morning and Usual hit snooze once or twice. The second snooze is met by a usually a backhand slap by my wife to get out of the bed, So I don't wake her up at 4 25 in the morning. That's the hardest part of my day. The rest of it. I sit down to go great. I'm dissecting Matt Ryan. I'm dissecting the Falcons draft. I'm dissecting the fact that the Phillies through at Ronald Jr yesterday and the Braves better damn well tonight, drill one of their players. In the middle of the back like that's what I wake up in. Dissect people are man. You're working on Sundays, too. Yes, I have a home studio. I'm lucky enough to do national radio with great guys down in Houston, and I talk about sports for three hours. I have friends. I get up. I have to deliver Amazon packages or go to work in a you know a call center or they have a business that they have to go attend to. This is easy. These are things that I get very, very excited about it Right now. We're going to dive into what happened in the NFL draft. You know, the NFL draft is over. And when I say this is kind of the Malays, you're into this part of the year where you look around the NFL and go Oh, what is going to happen now? There's gonna be some rumors about players being traded. Julio Jones, a big name. We'll discuss that coming up in just a moment. What's the latest with Aaron Rodgers? Does he end up staying in Green Bay? We'll discuss that coming up. In just a moment. But this year becomes interesting because you have five first round quarterbacks talked about this a little bit locally this week. Trying to figure out who has the best chance is a first round quarterback outside of Trevor Laurence to make the biggest impact, and I kind of went through and was looking at all the situations that they all were drafted into Lawrence. No doubt he's your starting quarterback Opening day for the Jacksonville Jaguars just is what it is. He's going to be the starter. There's no two ways about it and Jacksonville very happy to have him and they're very happy. Obviously to have urban Meyer in tow. What's expected, though out of Trevor Loins, I would say, low end and maybe I'm being aggressive 4500 yards. Remember, we add a game this year. Didn't blow when he needs to throw 25 touchdowns and throw 15 or less interceptions. Those would be awesome numbers for a guy and a franchise. That's just not been very good. Jacksonville. Think about they go to the A F C championship game in 2017. Many people forget that they're beating the Patriots at halftime and then their offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett goes into a shell. They can't get first downs, shocking. Tom Brady and company come rolling back and they knocked the Jaguars out. Jaguars made a huge misstep. They re up Blake Bortles. And the rest shall we say, is history They had to get rid of guys like Clay is Campbell, Emily Williams and all these other normally Jackson excuse me, all these other guys they had on the defensive side of the ball. If you look at the Jaguars right now. Assume that Trevor Lawrence is going to be pretty good. You now have two good running backs and Travis Ctn and James Robinson, who, by the way I ran for 1000 yards a year ago, a couple of good young receivers in love discussion all and DJ chart they signed Marvin Jones. So that should be pretty good. Offensive line is okay. Not great, but they're okay. Andrew nor, well, pretty good. Brandon Linder. Pretty good on the inside Juwan Taylor. Not bad. Defensively they've drafted some guys they think can get after the quarterback and Caleb on Chase on and Josh Allen haven Brian hasn't really worked out defensive tackle. On. They've had to trade away some different guys in the defensive backfield. Although they like CJ Henderson. They a signed ratio on Jenkins in the backfield. She killed Griffin, a corner. Would say Jacksonville could go from one and 15 2. Five wins six wins..

"There's some duds at the back end of this, But like if you look at number 31 the Jaguars, okay. CJ Henderson Colombian chase on legislation all around, too. I think you're really excited about him, right? But you expect some of these pics. To be too need to develop just because they didn't all of a sudden bust out like Justin Jefferson. You're one no reason to throw in the tower. The Jeffrey Ricotta Detroit, another example. You know, so I'm not. I'm not overreacting to it to dramatically. I think a lot of the teams at the top it got a ton out of the rookie classes. You look at the Washington ball team, the box Tristen Worse. And from Winfield, the Colts on Ben, Of course, the Bangles with choe Burrow. They had guys that were put in prime position and, yeah, they delivered in their rookie year. But that doesn't mean that the guys at the back can't deliver in their 2nd and 3rd year. That's why you're drafting them in the first place. You know if you're auditioning for one, Wait nine. The hater. I don't think the reason too nuanced. Take like that is gonna is gonna work. Let me ask you Look, let me ask you a legitimate question here, though, When? When do you think it is appropriate to judge Class A draft class. That's a great that's a great point. I think once you get to once you have three years in there, um I think it's appropriate to start looking at that draft class relative to the rest, But I really don't think you wanna overreact. Certainly to the first year, I think you're too you know, depending on the consistency of the team around them. You can start to look at things, but I would really want to see Three years. Hopefully, by that point, you had some sort of continuity within the team. I mean most of the team's drafting, high or bad, right, So it's tough to get a keen scent on the smaller sample your three fine, but ultimately you want to look at that fool wait for that rookie contract for five years. All right. You know, I was looking back because because, you know, we're all used to talk with you about this. I was looking back at the Broncos draft class of 2017 and yes, carry balls turned out great. There was a shaky there for a little bit, but it turned out great after him. Marcus Walker, who did play out his contract but will not be back Carlos Anderson, not in the league. Brennan Langley, not in the league, Jake, but this he's gonna be gone and it's unfortunate but injuries. Isaiah Mackenzie actually has been pretty good out there in Buffalo Butts, a miss for the Broncos because they moved on so fast. The Angela Anderson and Chad swag Kelly That is the 2017 draft class. So we're kind of right in that window. That's four years, but my goodness, I think after two we all felt pretty good about knowing with that draft class. Will you still call him swagger? Do we call him vacuum bag now? It Z. Yeah, Swagger's not the word that you would use for that particular graphic. No You shine a light on something that's really important. Which is the draft is is a lottery. You know, in so many ways, if you think you know you don't know. Um and you have to be willing to place bets that have at best, like 53% chance of hitting, And there's the chance that you can flip a coin five times and they can land tales for you five straight times. So you can't let You can't let draft classes like that. I think. Impact your team too much on go way that you do that is you continually make smart bets, right? You trade back, acquire more picks. You look to get a quarterback to will lift your receiving corps and make sure you know whether they're good or not. But those are things that cannot mitigate a draft class like that. Because it's hard. Sometimes you look at those yo, man. Well, I'm clearly bad. A traffic. No, you got unlucky. We ripped right? You zigged instead of zagging basically seven times and that can sometimes get you in a lot of hot water. Of course. The very next draft. They did pretty good. Bradley Chub wide receiver one Courtland sudden, Roy Stream has been productive, wide receiver. One Courtland suddenly I think I said that twice. Hey, George is good to have you on, man. Thanks So much of the time And yes, we're all good. Now I think we cleared the Air Broncos fans, the ones who listened to show I will. I will. I will call off the dogs. They will not egg your house tonight. I appreciate it. I appreciate that to vanquish that were sent him all the college fourth place. All right, George, take care of it. George. Jury at Pff underscore charge. That was pretty good. Yeah. I mean, you know that Ximena. They had some hits the year before, though, because you know Justine Simmons. Obviously a hit on that's about it. Really? Yeah, it was like I was like you said just then. I was like that covers that draft class. Well, parks is the league Devante Booker shredded the Broncos. He had that game this year. Yeah, Sally, and then you just keep going back, and it just doesn't get better. No, no, it doesn't. Not really Do they hold the greater the bridge building. They know they do. No, I don't. But in 2018 on, uh, some improvement certainly some improvement. And I don't know. I mean, I'm excited. I mean, you don't look a jury. Judy K. J. Hammer. Michael, Germany, Lloyd Cushion Very. They all played over 500 stamps. Right, McKelvin. A game's gonna be bigger role this next year, Albert local waving up, He's gonna have a bigger role this next year. Think justice. You're not going to find his way into at least special teams. The tiny moody Maybe get some time. Tyree Cleveland had some flashes. I don't know about Derek. Tuskegee up last couple drive fast. Been good. Are you concerned at all about the loss of that Russell Broncos country tonight on Keohane News radio and everywhere on the I Heart radio out tomorrow on Colorado's Morning news. The debate over covert relief continues.

"You know, we We have to use the data that we're collecting to support our arguments. Now, Obviously, we believed in the methodology and all these things, and if we have questions, way asked me trying clarify them, but We can't We can't just like always like this player in the data says he hasn't played well and therefore we're gonna make it. You know, we're going to try and change things right. So often Times teams and damaged think we hate a certain player or a team and in the next year That things might change bills or great example. Josh sounds fantastic this year, and so did you guys all the sudden start liking Josh out Like no, Like him the person just as much a year before he started playing a lot better. So the data narrative is a lot better. I have nothing against I love you guys. You guys are my two favorite. Radio host in the country. What what this is all about. So you're saying it is Collinsworth then Steve, Fellas always way too tall. So, like, put it on the list is like 69 its way through. Told my critters too beautiful. You can't mess up that face. It's just cheekbones. You kidding me? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, he's got the Jerry Right? Yeah. The perm. Jerry. Yeah, talks about his baseball career a lot on Twitter. He's actually It's interesting. Um Steve, who I Love is turning into a little bit of an urban Magic Johnson on Twitter. Oh, you might. If you throw back through some game days, he has some tweets that are just Unbelievable. Everyone that that falls him is watching the game and he'll tweet something out like Tom Brady throwing the ball well, downfield, you know, And it's like magic, is that you? Is that you, buddy. Incredible. Love it. Okay, Let's talk about this for a moment, though, Okay, 32nd ranked and I understand the concept of why They're there because it's gin compared a bit to what other players a similar positions were drafted or what the Broncos could have drafted. But the fact is their top four picks. All played over 500 snaps is you guys pointed out now where they ranked in their Pff grade. I can understand where you're coming from, But there was there's productivity there so we could have a Congress. I feel like there's almost two different conversations, and I think that's where Broncos fans Kind of get a little sideways on. This is like, Wait a minute. I mean, these guys I'll play got jury duty had some drops and K J Hammer was a little banged up. It points like load your movie. I got benched midseason. Sure, but Cushing very played every single step. He's the only offensive line with this team and played all 16 games. Every single snap. You got a lot of productivity out of this out of this draft class. Yet at the same time, maybe where you guys were coming from, or so is just the cops. Right? Yeah, And it's like relative to that draft pick. What would you expect? You know to generate from wins above replacement standpoint, right? Like every you know, that's how draft pick charts or created right. You kind of you look at all the draft picks and you draw a line through them. You know what approximation I don't you don't do it by hand. Write a computer does it But On. Do you get in an average return on the investment of that pick right? And so, you know, let's take the 15 pick, for example, Um, I would guess, on average. Don't have the numbers directly in front of me, but I would get on average 50 thick. Let's just say it returns one win above replacement. You know, over the course of their rookie contract or something like that right? And so you would expect each of those years to be positive right to be a positive wins above replacement. So Jerry Judy? Yes, Bunch of drops, and I'm going to talk about why I don't care about that second, but for this season, he did have those drops. Those drops remain there, right, And those things are negative are alive and so over the course of the season. All those drops result in him having a winds about replacement. That's actually negative, So that is not great. Good news here is that this doesn't matter All that much. Like if you're hoping that your rookie class is contributing dramatically and your one and I think you're being a little overzealous, and I will say this we have found that drop rate is one of the least sticky. Components of receiver play that is out there and, um, what I mean by that is it premiered a year. It's not very predictive. So I would be shocked if those numbers did not have dramatic improvement next year. And, um Jerry Judy separated from just about everything on the planet like including the pass is that true lock through his way, but more notably the cornerback's That we're trying to cover him. So I'm not as alarmed by this as you guys are. I will say that. Well, we just, You know, we gotta be careful. We got radio people around town, calling him a bust. And, you know, somebody complained, comparing him to Clifford Franklin from the replacements. So you know, I think that Yeah, I think we weigh need some reassurance, and it's good that the data tells us that there is hope in year two. I mean, look that you could go through. Let's let's take a look. There's some There's some duds at the back end of this, But like if you look at number 31 the Jaguars, Okay, CJ Henderson Clay Beyond Chase on low position all around, too. I think you're really excited about right. But you expect some of these pics. To be too need to develop just because they didn't all of a sudden bust out like Justin Jefferson. "Eric Underscore Crocker. You didn't zoom call breaking down Patrick Sartain, and I'd love to know just sort of what you saw from his play. Is he a guy that the Broncos should be targeting there at number nine? Okay, so the biggest issue that many Come out. You know if he just about Rocco's room was like super quote, you know, has Fangio addressed his plan, calling that you still running a lot of off Joan. Quarters are teaching. Yeah, it's mostly quarters match off. So that kind of stuff middle of field open Yes, he said that will be completely opposite were entertained did at Emma more times and he was stopped at the water's running. I thought his technique was really sound. I've thought he was very patient is almost like he had a dad played cornerback in the NFL or something. Okay. Um, You know, I used to be like, you know, playing corner that now some of the things that I wasn't able to see, and I still don't have answered on just yet. What is his house is clicking close right? So if he is at the plate off more where she would be infused with the Broncos, how, how? How quick he is putting on foot in the ground and driving in close closing on. Passes right. That was something that I don't really see our Obama in the three games that we watched last night. I don't know how it hits. Our long speed. Looks like he's passing us, so that is going to be an issue at all. Right? Yeah, off coverage President for a bigger corner back of the line. And when you have the recording, and he looked at, like 6 £200 Here. They usually aren't as quick footed Some of the smaller guys so asking they were guys that kind of play off work. Insistently issues like that would go against China would have made him good at Alabama, just marketing How is he is a tackler. That's a big thing for the vic Fangio. Defensive backs. Obviously you play it off. You're gonna have to be able to come back. Make that tackle. How is he has a tackler. I didn't think he was really good at tackling when he made his mind up that he wanted to go make that tackle. Now the issues sometimes is I thought he stayed on blocks a little too long. He didn't seem like a guy that was in any type of Russia or any type of Sense of urgency to get off a block, at least in the caves are watch, right. Just have a lot of launching to do well, so far, you know myself, and even when they're about $75 on their Washington with me, that was one thing that continues to be jumped out right now is consistent. He wasn't really getting off a black. He wasn't really going out of his way to make that play. Where? Okay, let me told him got off and make the tackle. But he was very hey would definitely like He was scared to go hear anyone. Anything like that. If you just heard that require until God he going away hat. So, um, here is very physical. He just needs a little more sense of urgency together. We see. We're kind of all right, Eric. So you said that you liked I saw this on Twitter. You said that you like Jeffrey could as a prospect better coming out last year than you do. Patrick Sartain is a prospect this year. Why is that? So I think they have a similar skill set and the sense that they both are really comfortable playing at the line of scrimmage. I think when you look at their press bill, uh, it's very similar. I think a clue to what made him really intriguing to me his anticipation. So his next anticipation from Prez Bill or just some of his movements, the way he attacked the ball, whether it was just a past break up or even trying to get an reception. I start his ball skills. Everything was just a little bit better, like he just got a little bit more aggressiveness. Closing one passes, Hey, was an extremely good tackler, which I think so attended a good tackler as well. I think record is just a little bit better. In that sense. He just It just popped more like just film everything that he did. It was just a little bit more aggressive. A little quicker. A little twitch here, where ascertained I'm not really seeing that switch with him. I'm seeing very consistent technique. But you don't see that Hyeon caliber cornerback. I do think that he has worked like, you know, a top 15 pick. I think he'll be really good for someone by. I can see why people like Jeffrey, including more okay, So then why in your opinion, did Geoffrey Oh Kuda struggle this year. I know he had the injuries to but You know, there were times were it seemed like maybe it's because of Detroit. There was obviously a lot of problems happening out there. But why do you think Jeffrey a coda struggled And what can we learn from that? You know, a coulda. So when he was coming out, and I was telling people and anyone listen, because he was the greatest things and Deon Sanders or something. That's what the actor like. But I thought he was a really good prospect. I have my CV to which is no knock. That's really good. But I'm not going to Detroit with a little risky because now you're asking him to play in the more man masking And my thing was, if you're asking him to go to Detroit to be Darius Slay. He's not that type of cornerback. I think he would be good in a system that's more like what we saw with Josh Norman. That was kind of my comfort him more athletic Josh Norman. That's why he went much higher. I don't even know Justin was drafted, but Um Josh Norman when he played with the Panthers and that Super Bowl run to the Broncos when you he played as good as anybody in the league, But it was what they asked of human how they asked him to play a lot of press bill a lot of the last times more quarters coverage where he can kind of read about concepts. I thought that's where Jeff Hooters Strength where I didn't think that his drinks were as a pure man covers guy. So when you're asking him to go shadow Davante Adams like that That's not him doesn't know where his drinks are. But that's kind of what the Patriots uh, defense's came with some of those guys. That's what they've asked their guys to do. Hey, can you go right up anywhere that this guy goes? Hey, can you play more man in these different spots, and I don't think his movement skills And his ability kind of showed that in his own house state film, so that was kind of my thing with that. I thought you'd be really good in this system. Where allowed him to be like You know, like what we're seeing from? You know, the Seattle cover three where guys are playing more press at the line of scrimmage. They don't have as many much responsibility on you know, you know, slams or digs and crosses things like that and kind of fall off of that, But they still could be aggressive at the line of scrimmage on the outside and funnel everything inside. I thought that was something that he He'd be more sitting in that kind of coverage, and I see the same thing we start saying, you know, I think it's a great point. I think they think it's lost on somebody fans. The fact that fit is so important for these corners, just like it is for, you know for a quarterback and what you're trying to run. On what their skill set. Is that what you were being asked to do? Do you? Do you rank your corners by scheme fit or do you just kind of go do a generic ranking when you put him up there. I do it like a generic drinking, But I tried it, You know, also put in there what Their strengths are because, you know, I'd rather take somebody that like me, ultimately, like when I when I had CJ Henderson at number one It was because of what he showed he's able to do and at the level and then when you factor in, you know his size and somebody that's 61 £25, but moved like a five..
