"Is that possible because if it's not, I don't know where does he find a starting gig? Oh my goodness. What a turn of events and I know I'm being repetitive if you've watched all three hours of this program, but I'll do it one more time for everyone to see it is exactly why Kyler Murray wants to get paid right now. Don't go into that fourth season. Without getting paid, if you can force the situation otherwise. Because look at baker, entering season 5 without a starting gig. Go went into season four riding high. Riding high in April shot down in May. That's life. I know the monts are off, but that's the lyrics of the Sinatra version of the song. I said Sinatra, they'll check back in mentally. 8 four four two O four rich number to dial here on the rich eisen show. We'll sneak in overreaction Monday while we can, and then again, I've been threatening there's this one team in free agency. I've loved what they've done. They are better today than they were, the day before, and the weeks before, and they left the season top notch. That's next on the rich eisen show. Back here on the rich eisen show, 8 four four two O four rich number to dial. Look, you can never tell whether moves are going to work out or not. You've got a great sense of it. When it happens, obviously saying, this is a great move. It blows up in your face. The draft is filled with that. Great pick, awesome pick. Good. And then the kids stinks. It happens. All the time. So free agency is similar to that. But the way you can tell whether free agency works is two things. One, when it's so obvious what your plan is needing to be going into free agency. And then the team hits it and hits it hard and hits it again, sort of like, you know, sergeant Al Powell's car in die hard. You know what I mean? Hit it again. Was it sergeant Al palace car or was it just another car? I don't know what has hit it again, hit it again. Shoot the glass too. Okay. So you keep hitting it again and keep hitting it again. And then the other thing is is your team better today than it was the day before. For instance, I don't think Dallas is better today than they were when free agency started. I agree. I don't think that. Obviously, things have to play out. That the full puzzle has to come in, Bobby Wagner saying he's waiting. He's going to wait. And there are tons, as of right now and again, this may not age well over the next 24 hours. Tyron Matthews still available. What's going on? Steelers fans are freaking. They would love to put him on the back end with makeup Fitzpatrick and go to work. And so he's waiting. I don't know what Dallas is doing. So and then there's the draft and then there's summer pickups and things like that. You just never, ever know. And so it's pieces of puzzle. Pieces of puzzle. The Cincinnati Bengals plan in this off season. Protect Joe burrow. That was their only job. One job. You had one job this summer. Well, they got Alex Kappa, even though he kind of knew I guess that Brady was coming back. Brady tried to get him get him to return. Okay. They lost CJ azuma to the jets, but they got Hayden Hurst. As tight end. And I believe that's an upgrade. Ted kerris, they got a center. And then apparently, Joe burrow, according to our friend Albert breer, had karas Kappa and Hearst and their significant others over to his house to try and wrap things up as a recruiting pitch with Lyle Collins. Oh. And it worked. So borrow, it appears, has some sway here, where he's like, in a way, I'm imagining, hey, Alex Kappa, that whole Brady coming back, think, come on over here. Brady's only gonna be there for a year or two. I'm not going anywhere. You know, I don't know if you saw me smoking cigars weren't pumpkin suits and stuff like that in shades and bling that's real because I make money. I don't know if you saw that. But Lyle Collins is a significant addition. And those four guys give burrow a target, they give him better protection, Bengals know what they're doing. It's something we've never said before. I just said it in that way you're out if you heard me. I didn't say it higher register, but I really like what the Bengals have done in just the first week plus, and they were already the AFC champs. So they had one hole. Well, we had multiple such holes and they are hitting it and they're like, hit it again. They're not like Hans Gruber. Again, again. Keep hitting it. Kill burrows got to be so happy. And they got the draft. Then they have the draft. Boy, the Bengals are doing it right and they got the coach. They got it set up. So that's my two cents on that. All right, Chris, let's sneak in a quick reaction. It's Monday. We can't do this tomorrow because it's Tuesday. That's Tuesday..

Kyler Murray Sinatra Joe burrow Alex Kappa Al Powell Al palace Brady Bobby Wagner Tyron Matthews Lyle Collins Dallas baker CJ azuma Hayden Hurst Ted kerris Albert breer karas Kappa Fitzpatrick Cincinnati Bengals Steelers

"Very much It's now 6 36 on Wall Street That's time for the Bloomberg sports update and here's John stat showing All right John no secret the Giants need to improve their offensive line They don't have a lot of salary cap space but I'm opening day of free agency They did add two offensive lineman Mark Lewinsky had been a starting guard with Indianapolis and center John Feliciano who was with buffalo another guard Lake and Tomlinson He's joining the jets coming from the forty-niners jets also got tight end CJ azuma from Cincinnati They reached on Braxton barrios who was an all pro last season as a kick returner tight end Evan engram leaving the Giants He was once their first round draft pick he's headed to Jacksonville Josh Donaldson joined the Yankees in Tampa the day after the big trade last year Donaldson while with the twins accused his now teammate Garrett Cole of using sticky stuff to help doctor the ball cold and stuck Donaldson out three times Whatever happened Obviously he felt like it was a better idea to probably strike me out but she did a few times So at the end of the day I'm happy to be on the same team And I have to strike out against him more Yankees have been in talks with Oakland about acquiring first baseman Matt Olson He's instead headed to Atlanta which means Freddie Freeman will likely not resign with the brave Nets way tonight in Orlando the unvaccinated Kyrie Irving couldn't play but did attend Sunday's home game also went into the nets locker room for doing that sitting in New York find the nets $50,000 Cameron Smith won The Rain delayed players championship golf in Florida by one shot John stash that one Bloomberg sports John All right John thanks a lot It is now 6 37 on Wall Street and that brings us to stocks and some of the names that are moving in the pre market this morning for that we're joined by Bloomberg radio and TV markets correspondent Gupta fresh offer 12 hour nap Fresh off my 12 hour nap folks I got so much sleep You're so refreshed So great Not to brag on a Tuesday but here we are You are seeing some futures higher when it comes to the NASDAQ 100 The S&P features kind of flat But underneath the hood only 16 stocks are actually higher in the pre market So that does tell you that there is looks like to be a little bit of pain here at the opening Let's talk about what is moving to the upside and that of course is going to be this airlines Delta coming out seeing one quarter or first quarter revenue excuse me about 78% recovered compared to 2019 levels That's a big deal because their previous view was 72 to 76% but that news is pulling up delta shares da L is your ticker up 1.1% in the pre market It's also pulling up the other airlines with it southwest for example LUV your ticker up 1% in the pre market UAL is for united up 7 tenths of 1% Even American Airlines catching a little bit of a bid here up four tenths of a percent AAL is your ticket there That's unusual on a day that's pretty risk off to see the airlines actually outperforming also keep in mind you are seeing some moves to the upside and the defense spaces a Lockheed Martin LMT is your ticker up four tenths of a person This looks like a continued bid from yesterday after Germany said it would purchase Lockheed Martin's F-35 warplanes as well as €15 fighters of course we know it is upgrading its military response creating a budget of a $110 billion to modernize its armed forces Of course on the back of Russia's invasion of Ukraine So you are seeing those defense names take a leg higher as well LMT like I said up four tenths of a percent But then there are some downside stories and we should stick to this Those downside stories for example are a lot of the oil companies Occidental zero XY is your worst performer this morning down 4.9% and with it some of those other oil names this really comes back on the idea of lower oil prices perhaps coming back on the idea of the China lockdown in Shenzhen This morning 97 24 is so under a $100 a barrel Ugly morning overnight in the Asian session Very ugly morning and once again it comes down to those COVID restrictions that they're putting in zero COVID policy It also comes down with some kind of concerns that perhaps China is the next country to be sanctioned just because of their ties to Russia and you're seeing that show up in those U.S. listed Chinese stocks The likes of Alibaba for example BAB as your tigger for the ADRs down 6 and a half percent in the pre market JD as well JD is also the ticker Also declining four and a half percent So keep an eye on those ADRs That's where you're seeing a lot of pain Yeah we were asking the question M live I should say was asking the questions My former employer Yeah And where are all the dip buyers Because they've jumped in since 2018 and so you know one of the questions to mold this morning as the NASDAQ futures turn green up 12 points right now Pretty Gupta from our markets team S&P futures right now two points lower and the NASDAQ the.

John stat Mark Lewinsky John Feliciano guard Lake niners jets CJ azuma Braxton barrios Evan engram Josh Donaldson Donaldson Garrett Cole Matt Olson Freddie Freeman Giants John stash Yankees John All nets

"Jim Forbes Now those Bloomberg sports update the final two standing in the NFL the Bengals and the ram so to battle tonight in Super Bowl 56 at the rams home stadium Aaron Donald making his second trip to the final game of the season for the second time in three years It'd be a guy that made it back a second time and understand how much work that we put into it but me personally how much workout fit into this much training I did to try to get back to this point You know he's just appreciated that much more man And I don't take nothing for granted The Bengals CJ azuma tried to not get caught up in all the hoopla We're treating it normal on mentality as this is another game that we get to go out there and play and win But at the end of the game we're gonna be filled with emotion because this is the biggest game that you can play The rabs will be trying to follow in the buck's footsteps from last season when they won it all at home The next gave one away in Portland on Saturday being outscored 35 to 11 in the fourth quarter and losing to the blazers one 12 one O three Tom thibodeau and company finishing a one in four road trip Yeah we just 35 to 11 in the fourth quarter 48% And then badly I'll rebound it It's gonna be hard to win that game Without the injured RJ Barrett in Ireland's Noel it was Julius Randle with 28 points and 16 boards In Miami the heat held on to beat the undermanned nets one 15 to one 11 Brooklyn losing their 11th consecutive game Kyrie Irving at 29 points The outlet is out west they lost to the flames in Calgary 5 two College basketball seton hall dropped a 73 67 decision at Villanova Rutgers stop Wisconsin on the road 73 65 Olympic gold Saturday for U.S. veteran snowboarders Lindsey jacobellis and Nick baumgartner the men's hockey team faces Germany this morning after getting by Canada on Saturday four two and the Phoenix opens to hit the gala over came an early double bogey to shoot a 69 He's 14 under a one shot lead on Brooks Koepka With a Bloomberg sports update on Frank Harry This is Bloomberg businessweek inside from the reporters and editors who bring you America's most trusted business magazine Plus global business finance and tech news as it happens Bloomberg businessweek with Carol massar and Bloomberg quick takes Tim steno on Bloomberg radio Hi everyone welcome to the weekend edition of Bloomberg business week inflation front and center thanks to a CPI print crossing this past week It was a big number 7 and a half percent jump year over year inflation still running at a 40 year high and yet strong earnings keep on rolling in One big company that's taking rising costs and stride is chipotle Mexican grill The fast casual dining giant reporting a strong fourth quarter this past week we're gonna talk expansion plans and pricing power with chipotle CFO Jack hartung Also ahead of prolific loan shark that former president Donald Trump free from prison is now back lending money again His tactics are more exploitive than ever before Meantime as the winner Olympics continue in Beijing we'll discuss the implications of China's continued clamp down on democracy in Hong Kong Our conversation with Mark Clifford president of the committee for freedom in Hong Kong is coming up All of that to come we begin with this week's domestic cover story betting apps want you to come for the Super Bowl the big game and stay and gamble forever Legalize mobile sports betting is expanding in the U.S. including just recently here in New York And right in time for Super Bowl 56 The National Football League is leading the charge to embrace it after years of worrying that gambling could influence the play on the field Well for more on the about face from America's biggest sports leagues and team owners we turn to the editor of Bloomberg business week magazine Joel Weber and Bloomberg news projects and investigations reporter Peter robison The lightbulb moment for me was reading a report from Goldman Sachs which pointed out that these apps over time might each have 15 million customers And that's the number who watch a usual NFL game And so when you have that many eyeballs and that many people coming regular on your site it gives you a lot of power and in a lot of other countries the gambling sites are the way people watch these games And it's a filter through which the games are watched which seems like a really big deal for all these sports over time What I think is interesting the MLB was early in on DraftKings Robert Kraft Jerry Jones I mean colleges they went from not doing anything to all of a sudden they're investing in big time and there's meetings kind of I feel like was a craft son who brokered kind of a meeting with one of the betting apps like it's just interesting how in trenched its become Yeah there was preparation behind the scenes for this moment even before the Supreme Court opened the floodgates with its ruling legalizing sports betting outside of Nevada in May 2018 even before that as we report in the story Roger Goodell met with Jason Robbins from DraftKings in Boston suburb with the craft with Robert Kraft and his son And fantasy as another person we talked to said fantasy was really the wedge that helped these leagues get comfortable It was almost like a soft launch for gambling It also showed the leagues and everybody how popular this is How do they keep it pure It's a really good question And it sounds like one that the league is still working out itself We talked to the chief compliance officer for the NFL and they have developed an online training course They have stepped up their discussions with league personnel about what information can be shared outside the league because with so many prophets including what color is the Gatorade going to be that stumped on the coach's head And I guess one distinction is that those bats that tend to be on offshore books which are less regulated But the point remains that there's a lot of potential for shenanigans And so the league is trying to get ahead of that They've also had workshops with players where they bring in what they've called bad guys who've been caught before trying to groom players in 6 games And the skeptics will say that you can't do that with complete success and really any one case is going to create a huge perception problem and you saw that even in the Premier League recently where a yellow card given late in the match as caused a fury on Twitter with people claiming that there's somehow a fix So it changes the way people watch games when betting is so entrenched How much money is sloshing around here for the NFL They're taking all this It's already substantial It's in the hundreds of millions Just one deal that the NHL signed with a data provider is reportedly worth a 120 million a year to it and over time they're talking 1 billion a year which is a lot of money for a league that in the pandemic year took in 12 billion So Goldman's talking 30 30 billion plus of over time just in the U.S. Hey Peter one of the promises that or at least the selling points that these apps are in services are making to the leagues is this idea of engagement And the way that it drives engagement to levels that the teams want to see in the leagues want to see what do we know about the relationship between the way that people bet who bets and to what extent they actually pay more attention and tune in and see the ads in the games Well I know genius has a statistic that people are 98% more likely to watch a game if they're placing a bet on it Certainly if your money is at stake you're more likely to watch or at least to watch a portion of it So that's one big factor I mean the other factor we get into in the stories is just the possibility of addiction that as one person pointed out That people between the men between the ages of 14 to 35 are especially likely to gamble I think that increase in rates already That is such an important point in this because it looks like a ton of fun Like there's all these funny prop beds then it's like oh by the way 18 to 35 Can you imagine how many people are gonna get addicted out of this Because it seems like nothing and then it's like oh wow that just drained my bank account That was Bloomberg businessweek magazine editor Joel Weber and Bloomberg news projects and investigations reporter Peter robison on this week's domestic cover story Peter co wrote the piece with Ira bud way Coming up China's tightening grip on Hong Kong has implications that reach well beyond the city will explore how Beijing is exporting its authoritarian.

a partner at Bailey Gifford which runs about $470 billion in assets He is the manager of the Scottish mortgage investment trust where he's generated returns of over 1700% during the past two decades That fund is now about 24 billion dollars You know we've been talking about mostly U.S. companies for a while Let's talk a little bit about what you see that's attractive overseas In fact you've recommended Chinese and other emerging markets before other emerging stocks before tell us a little bit about the mindset you have to have to invest in these or is it the same process no matter what country you're investing in Fundamentally Barry it is the same process But of course the standards of proof need absolutely to be there And we were talking earlier about the importance of science and academia Now what I think the corollary of that is is what's critically important to us in determining where we are searching where we're looking for Is that we need to see evidence of if you like set rising educational standards those rising academic stars in the markets that we're talking about And we need those to be if you like in charge of society So I've always felt very comfortable uncomfortable I don't know about you with this label emerging markets It's always been made up of some countries which emerged 2000 years ago and then retreated with countries that are genuinely moving forward And I never like to talk in particular the whole brick discussion That used to happen I think the difference is between Brazil and Russia And to quite a large extent India and China are profound on the level we're talking about With their us to extraordinarily brains within Russia but I do not think they are central to the economic system based as it is on comparative exhaust extortion And energy production So I think you start with making that But at the company level and I found this intriguing we make exactly the same discussions We may have exactly the same set of ten questions that we asked the companies in these areas And we're looking for the similar outcomes that we have in America or to some extent in Europe So let's talk a little bit about Europe which has been lagging for what seems like forever or is Europe ever going to reach a point where it can outperform or am I being too optimistic to expect that any time in our lifetimes I think the real issue in Europe is much more about scaling I think there are plenty of decent companies Some outstanding companies One of my worst miscalculations since of a mission over the years has been that I got very annoyed By way back in time mowry Hennessy the MH of LVMH buying the LV part because it was the LV part that I'd buy it I felt the Monsieur Arnaud had managed to actually rather aggressively take over LV plainly He's done a fantastic job and his colleagues have done a fantastic job in LVMH and we've owned caring and Ferrari for much the same point of view But I think the real failure has come in consumer facing technology And I think it's about.
