"Hotlines from the Indianapolis City County Council Councilman Paul on They joins us. Councilman. Thank you for the time and you know it's been kind of a crazy start to the year we've had, you know, Inauguration and the capital Riot and everything in between. Lot of the stuff that's happening in our own backyard may have been flying under the radar, so we wanted to catch up with you and one of the most important things that we've been talking about. Is this civilian led board that's going to set policy for the I M p D. Now it's my understanding that two civilians have been added. To the board. What can you tell us about this? Absolutely and wanna thank you guys for the invitation. As you noted, some of this stuff kind of slips under the radar as you take a look at national and some state issues, and so it's very important that our citizens here in Indianapolis or abreast of what's going on in their city and their city, candid counsel. So Monday night we had a vote to appoint officially Two individuals to the General orders Board on bond and one of them passed unanimously, However, one of the individuals brought some serious concerns from myself and a couple of my colleagues. And we raised those issues and unfortunately, um, they were passed through. Uh, you know, Regardless, So, um, I think that This recent appointment will further divide and polarize the community. As we look to the General orders board what were first of all, what's the criteria for getting on them? This board this committee and then what were your concerns with one of the members that was nominated? Absolutely, and desperate those at home who may be unaware of what exactly General orders are General order for the police Department, or essentially the written policies that govern how officers carry out there. Job. So you nobody born cameras, use of force policies, how the police interact and handle complaints with the community that all goes through the General orders Board and in those of the general orders, and and so You know, these are are instances where policies are made. That can be life or death situations for officers so extremely important board But we had an individual come before us. Unfortunately. After some research. It is unclear whether this individual lives in Marion County, whether they're married County resident. They voted in the November Force or third election this past year. And in the presidential election in Hamilton County s O. We weren't able to get proper documentation to show that he is officially American County resident and he had a syriza of Media post social media posts that had racially charged, uh, posts regarding police procedure, so we felt there was a significant bias a significant issue. And and we we just did not feel that this was somebody who we felt comfortable with putting on one of the most important boards the city has, frankly and this past, I'm assuming party of lines because the Democrats haven't overwhelming majority on the Indianapolis City County Council. They're just a handful of Republicans. I'm assuming this was a party lines kind of deal. It sure Woz and and it was disappointing because you know, to take the individual's name out of the equation. Anybody anybody who would be appointed to a general orders for from the Police Department who has an active social media account that has racially charged posts regarding police procedures. Questions of whether or not the individual lives in Marin County, regardless of who it is, regardless of what party nominated and appointed them. We should all be able to come together in a bipartisan way and say We have a lot of folks to pick from In Indianapolis, Marin County, and frankly, I think that we could have picked someone much more qualified and much better to serve this world. So were you able to? It's like so how does it work? Were you able to ask this person questions like Hey, what's the deal with these posts you made or or where? Where do you actually.

Didn't kill anybody? I mean, look, here's another thing, too. It's not just about the Constitution either, because You know the Constitution's one thing, but E. "Republicans, the five Republicans on the City County Council. Yes, there's five of them. Great job Indiana Republican Party would. That's the way to show they have asked the sent a letter. Saying that the marriage County Health Department should end the mass mandate. And they wrote AA letter. That no one is arguing Mass don't work. This is an oversight and accountability issue. We trust our neighbors and business owners to serve on Juries, civic organizations, Pts and school boards. However, apparently the trust ends there. Tony Katz 93. W A. B C Good morning. Hundreds of business and permanently closed to these overreaching mandates. I hope Dr Kane, meaning Dr Virginia Kane and the marrying County Health Department will be responsive to these concerns. The marrying County Health Department has been free to operate without any checks. It bounces for far too long. This written by Josh Bein, a Republican on the Indianapolis City County Council. The issue, of course, is mandates. Of course, the issue is mandates. The issue is not Whether that you should wear a mask and advocating for mask wearing Which brings us to the statement of Alley Brown, Indianapolis City County Council District five Science and data driven time and again that wearing a mask greatly reduce the spread of covert 19 and have the city known these facts that the onset of the pandemic we would have aggressively implemented this policy from the beginning, and in turn, we would have saved lives and restoring our community to some form of normalcy. However, this simply isn't the case wearing a mask is not only responsible, but it's a sign of respect for our neighbors, friends and family members. That's why I'm disappointed by the political stunt from India's Republican counselors. They're not only bucking to the buckling to the demands of the political rhetoric coming from their base, but they're now blatantly telling Hoosiers that their lives and their safeties do not come before their political selfishness. I hope they have a change of heart soon because this pandemic is more than just politics and they know it. Council Brown You missed it. Oh, God, such a swing. The issue is mandates and you should not have the authority to mandate masks. You should recommend masks. The issue is mandates, just like the governor should not be able to mandate a mask. That you cannot see through the two things. The difference is really a conversation about you being power hungry. You know, it's it's like when the City County Council passes the bonds for for the convention center. I know a lot of people like what conventions? We not many conventions right now, But we're gonna have conventions and you need to be prepared. You need to be forward thinking what was the thing that you thought was more important that we were giving good union jobs. Maybe That's why the cost so high The idea that the only people who could build something a union people is a laughable construct. It shows how out of touch you are. With so many of today's economic realities. The idea that you have to have on Ly Union labours laughable idea and that that's the thing that you're most pleased by shows how political you are, as opposed to what opportunities there are for the growth of the city. Now, if you're really interested in some return to normalcy, wouldn't you have been out there Front and center is saying that the City County Council should order glass for all these businesses that have their businesses destroyed. Wouldn't you be out there with a broom cleaning up after all of the homeless issues and drug dealing issues that we have in the city? In the totality of the city. Wouldn't that be you? That wasn't you? Was it? There's never a social media moment or social justice moment. I should say where you don't have something good and woke to say. What about when it comes to doing the hard, nitty gritty, dirty work? When it comes to supporting the most diverse community, we have the business community? And when it comes to recognizing the limitations of government You have a bully pulpit. Use that. Stop forcing people into doing what you think is right. Convince them Matt Bear has traffic,.

Kind of going great. I like I p a so know them the most adventurous person in the world. I did go down to Florida last week. Some would call that of live. Ah, quote unquote adventure in this period. But ah, you get the beer drinkers being more adventurous likely to take risk Just because it is a bitter taste in the beer. A lot of people to strict domestic don't like a lot of surprises when they drink and I fall into that category. I'm a cheap beer drinker, man like I'm a cheat day. Give me a Miller light. "Forty eight degrees in the American standard cooling weather center. Time right now, six forty six. Just because you think the red line is a problem doesn't mean that indigo or the city county council or anybody else in leadership is gonna think it's the problem, they think the red line is great. So why not start talking about the blue line? Cats ninety three WIBC. Oh, yeah. Talking about it. They're never so happy as when they're talking about system. No one's going to use the blue line, by the way, going to travel on Washington street from Cumberland to the airport. This is this is the plan. This is the plan of this, because what we need is rapid transit to to the airport. That's oh my goodness. What would we do without it? I enjoy subways. I enjoy the metro system of DC. I think it's great and wonderful and terrific. This is a waste of time. That's all. We don't we don't need it. It isn't going to get used. It isn't going to make us look great. And wonderful. You could at least argue that a line from the airport to downtown would have some value in terms of moving people who are here for conventions. However, I have that covered with something called Uber. And with something called lift and was something called taxis. I'm good. This got solved by the private sector and requires none of our focus, tell. That's indigo. Tell that to Brian. Llewellyn. Tell that to the city county council. Mistakes mistakes stakes. They are so ideological blinders on. Said a different different way they don't give a good. Holy about you, or the businesses anything else. They just they, they don't they don't at all. I could at least appreciate an argument for the blue line. But there is no argument for the red long. None this just ideological pipedream, this do-goodery and the blue line argument gets countered with facts about guys, we already got this covered. We already got this handled. We don't need anymore. We've got the private sector handling the job beautifully someone going to make the argument that it's not being handled beautifully. I can't get from the airport downtown efficiently ineffectively. I've got parking at the airport when I've got fast park. I wanna true full disclosure,.

"Stake? Yes. Meatless monday. Whatever would we do without the Indianapolis city county council telling us, by the way, you know, that that we should have highs rapid transit bus, which is not rapid. And they don't even worry about ridership telling us that we should pay more for parking. You know, they're they're the caring caring loving people at that there at the city county council, they don't have a vision for the city. But that doesn't matter. They also know what's good for you. And you shouldn't eat steak they must revel in the fact that Shula steakhouses closing Shula's is closing there in the west. And they must just be overjoyed about that. I assume another great restaurants go in it's the western. I assume that's what's going to happen. But when it comes to meatless Monday, I like to highlight the restaurants of central Indiana. I actually believe we should be proactive in supporting these people as opposed to the city county council which. Only supports their social Justice memes. Samat bear go. It is. Of course, still devour Indy. It's still going on you know, me. I like I like being supportive I like being supportive over there. So you know, they they've got restaurants where they got great deals Downtown Eastside midtown north side, south side and west side, we've checked out the mid or the the mid town, and we have checked out the east side pick aside. All right. Let's go. Side. Are you? Sure. Yeah. I'm so sure about being sure. Well, good on their lot of places. There are a lot of places.

"It's an ideological city county council. The all the entirety of leadership is ideological. There is no vision. There's no growth plan. There is no looking at the future. They they don't have it guys. They don't have it. You don't have it. Members of city county council. What you have is is these attacks on on on driving as I discuss just last week. And of course, I believe this is all social engineering to get people to utilize the Redline. Oh, Tony someone sent me an article from car and driver full disclosure. I don't read car and driver. I mean, it's it's there in the waiting room, or whatever sure the war on cars is real. And it's being led by cities. This is the headline the article by Jeff Sabatini, December twenty sixth two thousand eighteen. The story breaks down. How cities are changing things to make it more difficult to drive because they're making mcclain's of environmental this congestion that and social Justice, etc. Seattle wanting to reduce greenhouse gas emissions because they are going to work with accordance with the Paris climate agreement the Paris climate accord's, don't do anything that actually help us subjugating ourselves and putting ourselves at a submission submissive. Posture to Europe is that what Zach Adamson wants Indian submissive posture to Europe as opposed to doing what's best for Indianapolis. I say, yes, the article discusses how cities are doing away with parking requirements for construction and the purposes that they used to have parking requirements to ensure there were plenty of parking spaces. Now, they want to actually reduce the number of pardons spaces. It's no wonder why. While people complain about blue Indy this electric car boondoggle, which was mayor Ballard and not mayor hawks which was the mayor and not necessarily the city county council. It's nonsense. These electric cars why live in a world of Uber and lifted nobody needs to rent an electric car and the parking spaces that it took up prevented businesses from sobre cafe went out of business of their broad ball, host of others because of these regulations the changing of the lowering of speed limits meant to get people to stop driving. This is without a doubt a war on cars. It's a war on your ability to move freely. The Indianapolis city county council is hell bent on this war. That's very obvious. We discussed it. And now we have backup. This is not a city county council worth its salt. This is not a group of intellectuals. This isn't a group of people with a vision for a city. This is a group of ideologically. Driven zombies who are desperate to move their ideological agenda. And they only hope you are asleep long enough to let it happen. They're gonna destroy downtown Indianapolis Zach Adams, Colleen fanning Vauban, Mike McQuillan, the rest aren't good enough. You.
