Lightning send series back to Tampa, beat Maple Leafs 4-2

"The lightning forced a game 6 in their first round series by defeating the Maple Leafs four two. Mikey Amon and Anthony cirelli each had a goal and an assist for the bolts who were two in one in Toronto, but Owen to at home in the series. Asimov scored on a tough angle. First try to get around that D man and he's a great goalie so sometimes you gotta be a little crafty and it's just something I've worked on with healthy at some of these some of these morning skates so I figured I'd try it. Now Andre vasilevskiy stopped 28 shots. Toronto was trying to win a series for the first time since 2004. Game 6 is Saturday in Tampa. I'm Dave ferry.

Penguins score 6 in 2nd period, beat Lightning 7-3

"The penguin scored 6 second period goals as they roughed up Tampa 7 to three. Pittsburgh scored 5 of those goals in a four minute and 27 second stretch as teddy blueger found the net for the first time since early December. I mean, overall, I think our game's been going, you know, when playing pretty well, I've been getting chances just a matter of capitalizing and sometimes that's how it goes so you had to fight through it. And yeah, it's obviously a good feeling. The score at any time, but especially when you haven't done it in a while. 7 different players, including Sidney Crosby, and evgeny malkin scored four Pittsburgh, Anthony cirelli, Nikita kucherov, and brayden point hit the net for Tampa in the loss. "Ilya labus gin and tage Thompson with the stars for the Sabres in the 6 5 downing of the lightning. Labouche can score a shorthanded goal one 45 into overtime after Thompson registered his fourth hat trick of the season. It was first goal of the year. Thompson's career high 39th goal put buffalo ahead 5 three with 1342 left in regulation, but goals by Anthony cirelli and Ross Colton allowed Tampa Bay to steal the point Eric comrie turned back 36 shots for the sabers who had dropped 7 straight in Tampa. Cirelli scores twice, Lightning defeat Stars 3-1

"Anthony cirelli scored twice including the tie breaking goal with 43 seconds left that's Tampa Bay lightning defeated the Dallas stars three to one. I think all 5 guys controlled the puck there for a little bit. I mean, I think killer heady back door and then he just makes them a little mover on the D around the goalie and I was lucky enough to just bang it in. Victor had been assisted on the game winner as 500th career assist and goalie Andrei vasilevskiy out duel Scott wedgewood and goal both stopping 28 shots. "W G. N I'm Steve Bertrand. You know, this week we've been, um, remembering 9 11 and talking to the people who were there in one way or another and coming up. A little over an hour from now about 5 45. We'll talk to Lee Harris. He's a news anchor at 10 10 wins in the New York and he actually was the anchor on the air at the time of the attacks, is also a longtime friend of mine. We work together here, probably 35 years ago, so we'll catch up with Lee coming up, but a lot of you have commented on the conversation we had with retired major Heather Lucky Penney. She was in the National Guard. At the time, she flew an unarmed F 16 into the air with the idea of crashing into flight 93 before it eventually crashed in Pennsylvania. We talked to her earlier this week. So many of you have talked about that interview that we had that we're going to replay a little bit of it. Stick around that will come up in about five or 10 minutes from now, Have you been following Winnebago County? The corner there is named Bill hints he's indicted, charged with literally taking money from dead people, But because he is elected, they can't figure out a way to get rid of him. He's going to plead not guilty. Doesn't want to resign. The Winnebago County chairman is Joseph Cirelli. He joins us on the phone line now Chairman Welcome Hey, How's it going? It's going well here. Now, As I understand it, you just got out of a meeting with the Winnebago state's attorney, the Winnebago County sheriff and yourself trying to figure out What to do with Bill hints. What was the resolution? So, Yeah. Thank you for having me on here. And also Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Carolina is right next to me, too. So you're getting tag teamed here, buddy. I'll take that. What do you What kind of plan did you come up with? Alright. So last evening, the Winnebago County board voted unanimously to Asked the coroner to resigned from his duties and or to remove himself from the administrative duties voluntarily with pay. So that was very good sign that the county board unanimously there's 20 district members. Voted to for that resolution to ask him to resign or to put himself involuntary administrative leave with pay. And so, yeah, go ahead and I and we just We just met with the staff at the coroner's office, and we notified them that we're full support of the workers in that office. All the deputy corners. The assistance in there and the investigators that the sheriff and I and the administration Are going to be giving them as much support needed. Um, we're assuming that the corner is not going to resign or voluntary put himself on administrative leap. So at this time we're taking upon ourselves to step into that leadership role. Um, to assist the coroner's office. We're talking to Chairman Joseph Cheryle, Winnebago County Chairman. What does that mean? Are you going to take over the day to day operations of the coroner's office? We're going to assist the existing employees in that office to help them do their jobs to assist and serve the Winnebago County citizens. So it what it means is that the Winnebago County cornered himself. We have cancelled his access cards, um to the office, and he is put on voluntary administrative leave by myself and within conjunction with the support Of the sheriff of Winnebago County Sheriff. I'm going to ask you that again because you said he's been placed on voluntary leave, but it sounds like it's involuntary. Did you mean to say involuntary? Yes, he has not come to a decision. We have made the decision when a Bagel County administration and the sheriff's department too. Take away his access. Through his access card to his office, and we are now going to be assisting the employees of the coroner's office and their daily duties to make sure that that office is being run appropriately without the leadership of the corner. That's Chairman Joseph Cirelli. Hey, can you hand the phone to the sheriff? I'd love to talk to him for a second. Um I hope you can handle the sheriff. Hey, Good afternoon, Sheriff. I'm going to give it my best shot. Tell me your name. I'm sorry. Didn't catch it at first. Gary Carolina. Alright, sheriff. So if the corner Hinman shows up at the office, what are you going to do? Well, we're going to politely tell him that you know again. We shut up all access and that you know he's going through his. You know his legal process and, you know, continue to do his legal process. But at this point, he's he's not running the operation and again. We're going to put some infrastructure in place with the employees that They're going to have a dotted line to our office and provide again the community. They will be okay. Rockford Region, um, that trust back into the corners office and make sure that everything gets done in a timely manner. But sheriff let me ask you, he's duly elected. Do you have the authority or power to keep him out of his office? I mean, can you do that? You're right. You you, You have a point and again with the meetings with Chairman Elliot J. Hanley, our state's attorney's office and myself. Um, yeah. You know what? We are looking at uncharted grounds that you know what to Um, not be able to do that, because you're right. He's a constitutional officeholder like myself, But at some point we felt the operation of the corner wasn't getting done. There was things that were not getting down. The employees were being abused and for the sake of management leadership, we wanted to interject and try to provide the you know the greater good community. What the coroner's office assaults and the standing in the state's attorney says this is legal. No, he didn't. He didn't say it was legal. You know, we're kind of a little on presidents here and doing this, But we've had the blessing of the state's attorney's office and the county board saying, Hey, look, we have to do something in an effort to make sure that we run this operation. So that is interesting As you said, uncharted waters. So, sheriff, I appreciate you're explaining it for us and the audience and Thank the chairman as well. I will do that. You have a good way. Good day and have a great weekend. You too, as well. Wow, That's certainly an interesting development in Winnebago County Art will drop back into our interview with pilot Heather Lucky Penney and recall the days of September 11th. "This other guy is still really good. So that's not Boston how they do not exactly have A handful of top prospects the Sabres could choose from No there have. They haven't had great draft lately. And you know, they've also been in it right so pretty much every year, the last three or four years, so they've traded a bunch of their first round picks of the deadline. They haven't had first round picks in some of these drafts, so you know they're covered is not overflowing. With prospects ready to contribute at the NHL level. Tanika is one of their best prospects. There's no doubt about it. He rolled back in nine, is a former first round pick a defenseman. He really hasn't panned out to this point. I don't think he's at his highest level prospect wise. Um, you know, Jack feature is, uh, is still in college, So you know he's not ready to contribute as a former first round pick. Um, you know, I don't think they have the talent in the prospects that a lot of other teams do. Their best young players are at the NHL level. I don't think there was any way whatsoever that the Bruins would trade Charlie McAvoy or David Posture neck in the Jack Eichel deal, so you know Just don't know that they comparatively speaking have the kind of assets that other teams are going to do to get the deal done. You're just one question ahead of me all the time, Joe. I'm very impressed. You're stealing my next question all time, but hey, before I get to that, um Stanek is the center. Did you say Yeah, He's the center. Um, still needs to fill out physically, not strong enough to handle the NHL level last year. I think they're hoping now he's in the you know, young 2022 range 22 years old ranch. So maybe now, next year is going to be a year He's going to start to push. Um, And that's like I think the grand design the Bruins had going into this past season was it was the last year of Cray Cheese deal. Um, you know, they would bring stead Nikko along a little bit last year. Get his feet wet. And then maybe have a year of Charlie Coyle is the number two center. You know this coming season if they weren't going to resign crazy and then bring instead, nickel to be the third line center. But he didn't really show enough that he's going to be ready this next season. Maybe he does a ton of work and gained some strength over the the summer and you know all of a sudden pops next year, but I think it kind of changed their plans a little bit. That's Tanika wasn't ready yet. They still think he's going to be A top, uh, nine center in the NHL, and I've heard comparison to scouts. I've talked to Anthony Cirelli. That's the player they mentioned. That technique is kind of like, um, so we'll see. But you know, I don't know that he's going to be a top flight number one center in the NHL either. Yeah, I was curious about. You know, maybe that that the tweener if you will not necessarily the prospects that haven't been there yet, But young guys who are either they're now maybe have had a little bit of playing time have been in the minors as well. Because the Sabres Joe, they're going to be going with a lot of you know, 21 22 23 year olds, not that iculs old, but that early twenties group is going to be their core going forward. Is there anybody Posture knocks a little bit older, but not old. But is there anybody on the Bruins in that early twenties? That maybe even has a little bit of time? And they would say, you know, that's a guy you should want to go get if your buffalo Well, yes, Jake DeBrusk would be the guy. Um, that would be the guy if they were going to trade somebody in their early twenties. These 23 now, um he has a 27 gold season on his resume at the NHL level. I think that's a guy they would definitely use as a trade ship. If if the Sabres are looking for young NHL roster players still not too expensive, uh, contract wise, he's still in the R F a Land, so he's not commanding huge money definitely had it down the year this year, but he's proven that he can score in the league of the former first round pick and the thing with him like and I view a lot of guys like this across the league. He's one of those guys in his early twenties doesn't have a family single guy. I think a lot of those guys struggled last year because of the covid restriction because they were, you know, lonely and I think mentally its control on them that they really had nothing to do because of the restrictions outside of being at the rank. They had no family to go home to them. They just We're going home to nothing when they went home at night. And they couldn't go out and do anything. So I think a lot of those guys struggled mentally and off the ice and you know, just to be in a good place every single day, and I think he's definitely one of those guys. So you kind of primed and ready for a bounce back year, and he definitely has the talent to do it. The issue with him. He can score, but he hasn't shown that he's going to be able to impact a lot of other places around the ice. Besides scoring when he doesn't score, he doesn't do a lot for you. So you know, that's kind of the the book on him right now, Joe Final thing for you, Um, when you you know Burns officers still considering themselves Cup contenders. If we go back to the old division, you've got the cup champion there. Montreal was an average hockey team, but they made a run. You've got Florida you got Toronto, though. You know they can't win in the postseason. I guess I'm getting to how desperate or how anxious would Boston What did what do you think they need to add? First and foremost And how? How Aggressive. Would they be trying to pursue a potential Eichel deal or even Sam Reinhart? Yeah, I think they need a left side defenseman. That's really their biggest need. Um, you know they didn't resign Zdeno Char and Torey Krug going into last season and they tried to go with young guys. Young kids on the left side. And it really found a really good partner. Um for Charlie McAvoy in the top pairing. They even need a top pair left side defenseman or middle pair left side defenseman, depending on where they're going to put Matt Grizzly, but I don't view him as a top pair guys, so they really need A guy that can handle 20. Plus minutes tonight, play in all situations on the left side. A guy that can bring some offense moved the park and can, you know? Play well in the D Zone block shots just, you know, be your all around really good defenseman. That's really their biggest need..

Canadians have to go back into their own goal in coming over and Coleman very nearly. It's a short handed goal. He's got it again in trying to pitch Forks, backhander wide and Jeff Pizza, trying to settle things down for the 1st 20 seconds of the Montreal power play, which has been fairly ineffective in the series is equally ineffective. Canadians just one for seven on the power play, but they're making soft plays, jokes and they're getting outworked by the penalty, killing the lightning round. For sure, they thought Montreal thought that Tampa Bay was just going to clear the ice, clear the puck down the ice and the first one, Tampa Bay didn't try to make a play. And they did. The Goldman Suzuki fires it hard around and into the Tampa Bay zone. McDonough pops into the front of the net. Nobody home but Anthony Cirelli of the Lightning and he'll Isis. We've got a penalty coming up behind the plate. Is it coincidental minors? Let's listen. 81 got minor interference. 94 about two minutes embellishment, So it's an interference call on Sure knack and embellishment call on Perry. So it is coincidental Minors at 8 15 Peri Peri slammed the penalty box gate as he went into the penalty box. He didn't like it sure, not just came over and gave him a shoulder to the chest, and Perry went down. And the officials felt that he embellished to call enough to even things up Joe. To me, It's the age old conversation. We can talk about it all night long. How can it be both? It's either one or the other, but it is both because that's the call it does not affect. The manpower situation remains a five on four power play for the Canadians and Anderson offside as he tries to pull a pass from behind him back into the Tampa Bay zone. The Canadian power play still has 48 seconds left joke, but it does not look sharp. No, it hasn't. You know, this is a power play that that hasn't hasn't really looked all that sharp throughout the series. They got some young players on there. And you know, we've spoken so often about the Montreal penalty killing. Tampa Bay's is excellent as well. Now Anderson and Coleman jostle at the edge of the circle, exchanging short cross checks. The officials have to come over draw the old line in the back seat like on vacation with your brother or sister never works. No, it doesn't was going to say we'll see if it works, but Remember, the retaliation is always what Mom and dad caught. And here comes Coleman off the face off. He had a chance to come in short handed. But he's caught by Anderson is going to take a penalty that hooking call and Al Coleman saying it should be a penalty shot. He's all the way back at his own movie, but he's got a point. Did he have a breakaway and so cemetery so Tampa Bay makes makes the play. They try to clear it goes off a glove and slows down. And so Coleman is able to try to reach out and he loses control and trying to control it with his right escaped and that didn't work. So the game is being called tightly. You know, I'd go so far very safe. Would you consider that a pretty good penalty? Because if Anderson doesn't take that penalty, your point, I think Coleman, who's got great speed off to the races on a breakaway for sure. So it's four on four for the next few seconds as the lightning people fuckin and served Check trying to get it back from board had his stick lifted. It angles off the boards and back out center right shots. 10 2 in favor of Tampa Bay. Montreal Power play did not even produced a shot on goal before they took the penalty there by Anderson at 8 43. How Suzuki wiped out by Coleman Coleman's been all over the ice. Been the best player on the ice in this first period. He has points in every game in this series. And now Tampa Bay wanted one appellant. Too many men on the ice Suzuki on his way to the back. Edge. The puck just appeared in front of him went off the skate of a teammate that was going over the boards, and then he just dumped it in the rest of the way. I don't think it was too many men on the ice, and there's nothing else the officials agree with. Hedman handles it. Sentara is Tampa Bay Seconds away from going on their own power play now on their second power play of the game as the Canadian sweep it away, and Hedman has to come back and get it. That's another example. Cirelli gets it right at the blue line, carries it over the blue line, and immediately he's attacked. He loses the puck. Montreal clears it. Hedman brings it in for stand post wires it around and Cirelli battling with Byron to try to keep it alive. Future. AW, made a little pump pass into that bump position in the middle. Got it right back from point now has it right circuit out high. Hedman capitalists takes a wrist shot doubled up by Carey price Now that time Tampa Bay was able to get set up and when you draw has it that's when he becomes so dangerous. So he's on the right side, and he's looking for either a plate of the middle of play down on the side of the net. But this time you got it to Hedman on the left point, have been walked in and initially decided to take the shot because Cirelli was directly in front of Carey Price. But Cirelli took a step to the side price was able to see the shot. Make a safe rally wins the ensuing faceoff to the right of price stuck on the end boards. Evans didn't get it out shot passed by him. And the boy was looking for future off the right post, and he didn't connect hustling the other way. Evans trying to split the defense shorthanded, and he's written off the puck in the left corner. Now by Hedman dying Seconds of the power play, 10 ticks remaining. The man advantage point across the line. Trump Sutra back to feature off his pass deflected towards the Net, capped away by Carey Price and collected by the Canadians to know clears the zone. That'll do it. Out of the box. Anderson and the Canadians full strength, so Tampa Bay over two on the power play, and they turn it over at Senate. Here's Suzuki on his own into the Tampa Bay Zone strips to the left corner wanted the centers of the far post. But that came gored to intercept that. It stood out by the lightning. This go all the way back in the Montreal ice. First man on Heathrow rolls it slowly to the side of the Net, and Carey Price scoops it up. He'll hang on just under nine minutes to go. "That Celeski give Perry All right. The Lightning win the D Zone faceoff. Gord, one at Coleman clears important final four minutes in the first year. The Canadians have had very little going in the first, but now they got the spark from the goal at center ice Atari like and dumps it in the lost it by the just knocked it away from Evans. It looked like he was gonna have an open net. Just said always good row, right When Eric turn AC Sirnak rips it in. I stopped by the march on it to Romanov in the near corner of middle. Jake Evans. Amazing what confidence does for you. Here's Evans busting into the lightning zone, Left circle, centering feed in on Vasilevskiy knocks it away and plot grabs. Lot bounces for Brandon Point Point to center ice backhands it in Canadians look like a different team since the goal. Shea Weber winds the puck around the near side. We have a whistle here, he's going to call Evans and point to work I saw, Yeah. They were Evans wouldn't stop. It was at the blue line, and he pushes him and pushes them again on monetary Rafi. Interesting. They decided to call that Phil interference in Russian. That role point. Fascinating, Mr Handsome Daddy got to just quick enough away from Evans. Evans. One goal in the playoffs came into play in which he was injured against limping into an empty net, and he almost had another goal into an empty nap. At that time, it was Goalie on the ice. Yeah. Alright. So full on four hockey for the next two minutes, no point available for the lightning. China was thrown out of the draw against Cirelli. So Suzuki and Sara Lee to the left of Carey Price. "A scoreless first period as the lightning pop it to center. Cool AC from Montreal retreats into his own zone, where they watched by Ross Colton, the rookie who played a couple of years of college hockey, just up the road at the University of Vermont. Now he gets it across the line on left wing for Suzuki lost an edge as he fell in the corner, keeps the puck alive as he rims it around off a broken stick. Below the goal line. It's nudged back around. Suzuki has it again, and his pass to the point gets away from Pollak, and now he's under duress as he beats Cirelli to it. Thanks it back ahead to Suzuki Drop has to Caulfield right back to Suzuki off the left boards in behind that centers score Josh Anderson for the first time in the series of Montreal, Canadian Let's have a lead. Tampa Bay gets caught making a change, and so when the puck was turned over in the neutral zone that of that allowed Suzuki to make a play. Suzuki will end up with the puck down the boards on the left hand board holds on He gets the defenseman turn back to slide down by that time. Suzuki is at the goal line. Now he starts going Behind the neck. But before he gets all the way behind the net, he throws a little backhand pass right to the slot. The area that we've been talking about. Well, Montreal hasn't had a sniff. In this first period, but Josh Anderson went there. The pass was excellent, all in one motion. It puts it in past Vasilevskiy, and this place erupts. So the line juggling pays an early dividend.

"Went back behind him. Remember to play the other night when Victor Hedman got the things got things going and they end up scoring early. Victor Hedman does the same thing. Montreal look comfortable coming out of their zone. Victor had been the defenseman at the left point stays in. He pokes the puck away. Now he's got it. He gets a shot on goal that gets deflected. Carey Price has to make us safe, and then he has to make a couple more on the scramble after that's just chaos. After that faceoff win for Cirelli is again the Lightning have the haves hemmed in their own zone. Cirelli behind the net, bumped there by Chara and shot dropped his stick. So Cirelli whips it around. Waiting at the right point is Eric Turner. He throws it to the network went off the skate of the defender Sherrod in front and made that more difficult for price, and maybe it needed to be Canadians live to talk about it, and Sherrod brings at the center and wires it in Vasilevskiy stays put and out of the right corner. Gallagher wins the puck try to feed it across the slot, but it was intercepted in front by chair net. Tonight's had a great final series already has 10 points in these playoffs. Lightning unable to clear the zone, however, and Dino keeps it into the left circle for to Foley in the corner. He's taken out by turn AC, and that allows McDonough to move it ahead. Done. A plus six in this series goes for a change. Cirelli sends it in from the blue line, and the Lightning will finish that change as it's gloved down by price for Sharratt, then Sherrod has a couple of points in three games in this series. After not having a point the entire playoffs head Mans the puck into the Tampa Bay zone off the stick of Evans, and it's collected behind the net by Braydon points point for the Lightning pulls up those across off the skate of surrogate, Kev and then his pass deflected out of Played by the stick of our Turi Lechner. Montreal trying something a little bit different to start this game. They're trying to stretch out the Tampa Bay Lightning. Florida did that in in round number one and did a good job. Because Tampa Bay's a team that likes to defended layers. They don't like you to get to the for your own blue line, Then they don't like you to get to the red line. Then they don't like you to get to your blue light, so they continue continually. Force the issue until Montreal here in the early going is trying to stretch him out trying to get the defense in the backup. They're sending forwards down to the far blue line to try and accomplish that both fourth lines on the ice as the lightning able to get it in, and it eludes price behind the Nets. Johnson trying to get it back to maroon, but it's poke loose, and Perry protects the puck whips it into the middle of the ice on the backhand. Cool AC up on the rush had his past knocked back behind him, So he retreats defensively. Now it's into the corner install, tried to get it across the Perry, A good stick from David Savard denied that Kept in at the right point, however, by Kulak again to the front of the net and trying to get there was Army A, but he was upended Johnson wheels to the corner with it got to the line. Edmondson kept it in with escape. Then it's nudged passed him by Patrick Maroon popped into the middle of the ice and Johnson caught in the back checked by stall who takes one hand off the stick to make sure he doesn't take a penalty. Everybody kind of held their breath in the building, didn't he? One more so than Joel Edmundson. No penalty called and now it's Edmondson Rockets at ahead at center off the stick up to Foley barely inside.

"Johnson stick was there, but it didn't touch his stick. Never touched it. Let me go on the power play for the first time. In the game one for six in the series overall in the playoffs, 35.6%. Chance to go up early to nothing here. Sara Lee fights for the draw. But instead it bounces free to buyer and it will rip it down the ice. That was a partial face of went for Sara Lee, but the Canadians got to it 1st 50 50, and we lost it. Victor Hedman, right, said Pizzarelli at the Red Line, drops it off breaking point. Point cuts his way across the Montreal line. Dishes it to Anthony Cirelli. Right circle. Cirelli sets up. Winds a great point, Hedman Single cu trough. Right corner. Cirelli, Right. Socotra who drop in the power play center point. Hedman, tees it up. Shoot off, Price it in our power play goal for the lightning, and they have a two Nothing lead. I'll tell you what he drill this one. Absolutely drilled it. He got the puck. Sara Lee goes back. To Hedman her Edmund goes back to coach Gujarat spots Hedman in the slot. Hedman skates in And that puck just beat price. You think Sara Lee touch that? I don't think so, David, but we'll see. Well, maybe he did, because the puck Either hit Bryson went in, or Sherali. "Going back because the puck is going in deep now they've got to go back into their zone and get it. And what they're finding as soon as they get it. They don't have much time to look up and see if anyone's open because Montreal is aggressive for checking their speed is putting pressure on campus defense and a lot of those pucks are just going off the glass or off the boards, trying to clear the zone and that one went into the bench and the face off. Back in the Tampa zone to the right of Vasilevskiy. So the buzz word for the Canadians coming into this one was puck management and you've liked the puck management. Yeah, no, yeah, much better. For sure. Luke Richardson also said that compete had to rise as they win the draw in the camp of a zone. Petri shot clock gets it back out of the net, kicked aside by the left pad of Vasilevskiy. Puck still in the Montreal zone, Rueda activates up the right boards. Usually defensive defenseman Got it to Tyler Johnson Point covered by Sorrel, You scores.
