"Services like forget it. Not, even the same conversation. It's why they won't allow xbox of do gain pass on lesson in streaming unless they go through the hoops of. Having every game speed submitted by so they can get their cut because you know it's a place where they are not. They are not strong Yeah. It's it's I duNno. If Apple Arcade was a success to begin with, you know I mean they had there was press a couple of months ago about how they were completely revamping their approach to games. They want games that were stickier and like one of the one of the Games that they use as an example was one of these like match three games that you know it wasn't. It wasn't a Bethesda game. It's. Different I like. I love that apple enabled compatibility with xbox and playstation game pads. That's great. But they'll never be a game platform like in the in the same sense because that's not there. That's not what they do best. But but now they're fighting dare subscription company. That's what the apple one bundle with multiple pricing points within apple one. There's multiple apple ones. That's who they are now as a company. So guess what xbox playstation are their subscription companies now too. So like I would say they're more of a competitor now to those places than they were a year or two ago, and to go back to early point in the social dilemma of what these companies they're trying to get your screen time. Same. Game Consoles. They might not be for advertisers. WHAT THEY WANNA. Do is when you have TV in your house and growing couch because that is something that people do in their living rooms on their couch dinner in, they want you to spend the time playing a game versus watching Netflix where forces browsing the web and that doesn't work when you're traveling in the of your phone. So what the Apple Arcadia competing against is for the time that people are. Using their phones and those games while they can be that's why the match three games work because they work on that same dopamine trigger that the the the the slot machines work on which is with the same triggers that the social media networks work on and that's what people are going to gravitate toward on those devices. It's it's all distribution. No good news this week. Hey one piece of good news John Karmic tweeted in response to Microsoft buying cinemax said. To quotes greats I think Microsoft has been a good parent company for Gaming Peas and they don't hold a grudge against me. So maybe I will be able to reengage with some white old titles commander. Keen VR. I? Think we're all thinking maybe a different one but. You, know we're we're watching the facebook connect keynote. I tweeted at you like when Zuckerberg did his his his playing Echo VR with Baas I was like this is the this is the Bill Gates playing doom and windows ninety five moment for suck and you know just days later Microsoft bought do. So. Full Circle. Is there a video Bill Gates playing doom? US remember that. No, they promoted I. tweeted it. Can. School Bill Gates Doom. But when he was doing, maybe it was a CS keynote but definitely a video recorded of him promoting windows ninety five one of the big things whether it Wednesday five was all the graphics and so they did this whole thing where he's like games like doom and they did like a mix reality thing where he's a cold the doom gun, he's blasting away at the it was like the big selling point of Windows Ninety Five, all your games were compatible to. Yeah, that's what it made. Me Think of with the Suckling Echo Vr, and of course now said Microsoft and but doing B. R. to come full circle it was what Johncock was. So excited to show off on that duct tape together oculus rift a decay one way back at was it quake connor eat three, twenty, three, twenty, twelve, and do I don't think that was a decay one that was zero. It was like, that was the first VR Demo like. A from of yes. From tarmac or Parlor lucky that was early and you're right I'd love to see that come all the way full circle. Yeah. Well, WE'RE GONNA get to three hopefully on side quests at some point soon ish so It happened whether carmax involved or not but the extra cool John Carman was involved. All right. WE'RE GONNA DO REVERSE OR FOR PODCASTS to the rest of the show this week. "So the there are systems out there and yet we don't talk about it that much because our homes. Aren't wired for Whole House audio but if your house happens to be wired for it and you've got speakers run or you can take advantage of speaker wire to run the and speakers or other wiring that you've got in the house to run the and speakers out this controller I took a look at it a little bit before the show. This controller looks pretty slick and it is very inexpensive to get sick zones and it gives you smartphone control and stuff like that too. Is just I think it's more rare for people are this is just my opinion on it to have the wiring in the house, which is why we tend to talk about the wireless versions. More often than the wired versions because anybody can set up the wireless versions whereas the wired requires either come through in rebound a bunch of walls and run a bunch of wires or already have the wiring done. Back in the day. Excuse me. I'm back in the day having a whole house system was a huge deal because of exactly what you said, all the wiring that needed to be done everything needed to come into some sort of controller because if the stuff's in Iraq, how do you turn on the receiver and then turn on say the CD player or whatever other input that you have, and they would do that with like I are, and this system has that where you can plug in these I are relays and the I. R. Will Work from outside of the cabinet. Now, with what you said is though wireless whether it be Sonos to Sonos, which is what you use, I use the airplay to in. My House, a lot of people use the a lady echoes, and the or the Google setup. So it's very a simple to set up a wireless setup and my house the airplay to is rock solid I from my phone I can also set up play from this phone to these three speakers, and then if my kids wanted to send something to another speaker at from their phone, they could do that I can also do it for my computer it just a lot easier to do he had the wiring and it's a pretty slick controller it. That's pretty much why we don't do it because for the most part, most of our listeners are doing it to wireless way. Yeah in our. I Guess Love Affair With Wireless Whole House systems gone way back and says, we've never had houses that were wired up for it. Now I mean we'll all the way back with the squeezed boxes before Logitech Botham and like version one of Sonos when it came out. But just the idea that you could run whole house audio without having to rip out your walls and and you know tear things up to get the wiring in there. It's been something that I think has been almost revolutionary. For A lot of people you've always wanted to have and and you walk around in those houses that have speakers in all the rooms and can have music going and you're like man I. Wish I could do that the now you can, which is really cool without the expense of running all the wiring. So yeah, like the sonos is a bit more expensive on a per zone basis. But when you factor in running wires, it probably isn't I mean and from a simplicity standpoint, it certainly isn't. Well, and if you don't want to spend that kind of money, definitely, the Google Amazon route is much cheaper, you can plug powered speakers into it to get a little bit higher fidelity but for me when I have whole house music for the most part of the ambiance, it's not for like critical listening like I do on a Friday night I'll tweet out what I'm listening to and what I'm drinking you could follow me on twitter if you ever want to do that and a lot of people will tell me what they're listening to and what they're drinking and it that's. Where I go into my office and I've got some really nice speakers and I set up the music would the I've got svs amplifier and I put in high quality audio to that? So that's not part of my whole house system. My speakers are hidden and I can put music in every room in the house even in the garage and when you're doing housework or whatever it works out. Really Nice. So that's kind of where we're talking. But when you brought up the first Sonos one system when they were kind enough to send us a demo unit I, send us like three zones. I was so blown away. I was I remember walking around they had a dedicated remote control that would bring up artwork and to me that was the coolest thing ever and I would walk into a room and I would tell my wife what do you WanNa hear I'd pop it on and even she thought that was Kinda cool and how far we've come since then and I, think the price of Sonos has gone down since that original one because that was really expensive the remote control itself was like three or four hundred dollars. Yeah obviously. Now, you can use use your smartphone or tablet for your remote the Aso there's been a lot of democratization of the whole house audio that. You. Know. People Dreamt of just ten years ago. Yeah and prices in issue you can get chrome cast audio in group those together and do those whole house audio audios and they're like I think twenty five bucks if you get them on sale and then you can connect them to whatever speakers you want as. Inexpensive or expensive as you WanNa, go or whatever aesthetic you wanted to match. If you want a particular style of speaker in a room that you know that matches the aesthetic of the room, you can do that too. So there are so many options now. And back when slim devices had the squeeze boxes and we reviewed those and they wouldn't stay in sync or they would drop out to where it is. Now with you know Sonos and airplay to another systems that are rock solid. It's been an interesting journey, but it's pretty awesome. All right next emails from Fred in Woodbury Minnesota and he says, Hey, guys, I feel like Brayden in his TV analysis paralysis the question is seventy five inch TCL eight series or a seventy five inch P series quantum ex they both get about the same rating on ratings. Dot Com. My question is when they say the image degrades with the viewing angle, how do we know what angle that is a seventy five inch? TV is literally the same size as my main couch. Where we sit about ten feet away. I'm sitting on the left side of the couch with the right side will the right side be degraded or does the angle mean outside the width of the TV to some degree also of these, these TV's are the same price and off they are very close which one would you buy I think I know the answer, but I'd I'd like to throw it out to you we. Know what Brayden would by thanks again for all you do so Yeah, I talked to Fred a little bit about does the off angle viewing it'll start degrading at about forty five degrees thirty to forty five degrees off.

"Is September fourth twenty twenty and I can't believe the year's going by this fast but. How are you doing? Sir, how are things going for you? Things are going well for me. I think a little bit better for me than they are for you Brayden. Is. I'm GONNA use the word. Funny but it's not really funny. Rub h from Av rant tweeted out something about how his partner Tom? Andry was having some home issues because I guess they had some water damage or something happened in Tom's house and you have to move out. So I said, what is it with all these house issues for all the hosts of AV related. PODCASTS and I said I told ROB. I said Rob. I. Think that means you and I are next and then he responded back with he had issues like a year ago, and then about an hour later you tweet what did you tweet Brayden oh so yeah. No I I've had enough issues with my house to cover all of the the home theater podcast hosts and listeners probably in fact. So this week earlier this week, we had a crew working just one crew working this way typically, there's like two or three crews trying to put the house back together from the many different issues that we've had. But Wall one crew was working in the upstairs bathroom, a fire sprinkler, just randomly like burst, and so the Guy I'm working at home and the guy comes over and she's slamming on, you know the knocking on the door and I thought he had used the bathroom so I'm like, yeah come on dude note no big deal and Then, he took off running. He's running around the yard and and I walked down like are you alright he's like there's water water everywhere. So he shut off the water to the house, but it wasn't the right one to shut off water to the fire sprinklers at one is out like further down on the street and the intense amount of water coming out of this fire sprinkler in just like ten minutes. By the time we got the water turned off. There was like three inches deep of. Water in the upstairs bathroom spreading out into the bedroom, and then it was just raining down inside the house. So I, mean, we got the water off in ten minutes, but then we had to have the crew come out and tented all off and they've got the dehumidifiers and the fans and everything going for the next few days. But yeah, we can't catch a break over here man but luckily because we can't catch a break hopefully, that means that you know 'cause. Mickley or whatever you're covered. No kidding. I think between the two of us you've had enough damage to cover both of us in probably. For many lifetimes. Yeah. I am I'm not laughing. It's just I can't believe how much you issues you had. One person. Put a comment up on twitter saying reminded him of that show with that movie with Tom Hanks and I think it was shelley. Long was that long anyway was like the the money pit among the yeah and I was like Oh my goodness I felt so bad. But all right everyone safe and hopefully it's not a huge setback for you. Know I. Mean we've I mean both of those rooms were still under construction. So it just we gotta dried out and then we'll have to fix some more walls that they had opened so that we could dry out in there but yeah, it wasn't like we had just wrapped everything up and then it happened but we do have to go through and now I guess fixed fire sprinklers in the house because it could happen randomly again somewhere else. It'd be a bummer. But. Yeah I, mean maybe just a sign that we need to have an indoor pool of some kind because that was just catch all the water that's coming in from everywhere I don't know man. Back to the podcast nothing stops US nuts observed. Thank you for listening and if you want to get in touch with us, you can visit our website hd guys dot com has all the information on everything that we talk about at the on the show today or you can go back and look at prior episodes on the site as well. You'll find ways to. Help support the show, and help me get some more bucket. So I can bail water out of my house next Emily Cavins, they literally were taking buckets of water scooping them up off the floor. That's how deep it was upstairs and just dump in buckets out the window. It will. It wasn't a little bit of Water I. Mean it was like a a swimming pool upstairs. But anyways, you can help support the show by signing up to become a patron at Patriot dot com slash HDTV podcast and those who have done that know that I will buy a few extra towels to help dry out my house with that support. Thank you very much for helping out with the show and the other way you can support us is through our coffee metaphor by a cup of coffee we have three different sizes equating to different dollar amounts if you buy the largest size and so I guess there's four different sizes but the fourth one is not a cup of coffee is something that we call a cap. Pal, and that's a nod to a character on NCIS who would get this huge big caffeinated drink called the CAF pal is thirty, two ounces. So we decided to go with that twenty five dollars, and if you do that, you get shoutout we had three of them this week and all three either had a shout out or an email. First one was from Ralph Brazil or basal a spelled B. A. S. I l. e..

"Also, man, I do have recommendation for you guys warrior on Cinemax. I forgot to talk about that. Anyway, I know the reputation that's innomax has when it comes to TV shows. I was not a big fan of them until banshee and the Nick a warrior is peaky blinders meets dead wood with action judging by your tastes. It would be awesome or awful. It was a show conceit by Bruce Lee. But never got made. It is being made by Shannon, Lee, Justin Lin, and the guy who made banshee it set in the nineteen eighties, blah, blah, blah. Yes. Oh, so we talked about this before. And I just want to give the show a little push on the internet because it deserves because because I think it deserves it. I think you would like it regards avenue. Yeah. Let's. Really good point. Which is let me say this Cinemax never gets the the love it deserves. The Nick was Steven Soderbergh. He liked retired from filmmaking directed twenty episodes of this. Really amazing weird wonderful little show banshee. I didn't finish it. But I loved it. I thought it was crazy batch it original. But it was just one of those things where I think this is what he's saying give it a little bit of love because you know, about HBO, and then we did Showtime earlier, right? Cinemax really is like the red headed stepchild even though they have some really good material. And I he knows me, obviously, what did he say? He was like, it's come deadwood or some shit. Yeah. Yeah. He knows me. He's obviously preaching to the choir. So I guess let me tell you Madam. What do you feel about this? No, listen, we talked about this. So it's the toughest thing when we do this is people v bro. Yeah. Well, I mean, it's not just that. I mean, there really is this this formulaic routine that we have to go to right? I I mean, we talked about bat women today. Do you think I give a shit about that? Hell, no. But you know, what it's so mainstream. And of course, anything Batman gets people's attention. They're going to talk about that. So so, you know, we always have to kind of pick and choose our battles. And I think that's the hardest part. I mean, I've been watching a lot of great TV from doing this show. And I've been learning a lot more about myself when I even come to critiquing stuff because of this show, but we can't review all the shows out there. Right. And it's funny. I talked about that woman because there's someone yelling right now and their seats Yemo the fucker, but you never talked about the flash tore the aero. I know so so we got to pick and choose our battles. But but you know, what I did. I did tease about war your when we talked about it way back when and I want to give this a shot. So, you know, they're just so much to talk talk about. And that's really how we kind of just go about it. You know, and it's really hard because we can't watch everything and we have to watch everything doing TV based show. Right. So. Kind of what I had to say on it. But I'm surprised listen someone is working out to us right now Christian on the Jim listening to our show. And I think that's more of as so, you know, the double inspiration. They got you looking like a goddamn like Greek statue. And they got me looking like a fucking jellyfish. You know what I'm saying? I don't want to be like Christian. I gotta be like Roberts. They're just they're working out, man. Anyway, helpful I think that's good inspiration. Right. Look, look, look look them the fucker. But, but yeah, listen jokes aside. I think that's great and. Hey, I'll give were your chance. I mean, I'm just now catching up on berry. Like I was saying, and there's some other stuff I want to catch up to. Just the police Christian too. "HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, whatever, and you got all these premium sports channels, all included, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, those are just pirates selling you a pirate box. So it's confusing because they're now are more and more streaming products that really are free. And I wanna hit you with some of them crackle, which is available on most streaming platforms like Roku. I don't know if it's on the Amazon fire stick or not Roku is really the dominant platform now and Pluto, which is a channel with free programming Roku has its own Roku channel where the stuff's all free. Voodoo is doing a free medium business model voodoo is now owned by WalMart and has a mixture of stuff that they rotate and that's for free. And then other stuff you typically paid a rent on voodoo and PBS kids. Now has a free streaming product that they make available on Roku TV's and Roku devices. So this is a real change. That has started to have influences in ways at NC coming YouTube has YouTube TV which is a streaming product where you get a lot of the traditional pay TV channels, but you pay for it. I think it's forty a month. Now, there are people that are grandfathered in the old thirty five dollar price. Then there's regular YouTube one of the most visited web addresses there is.
