But today it has been announced that the Roberto Clemente League has hired him to do play by play for the 2021 season. Oh, yes. Oh, not even Major league baseball. This is down in Puerto Rico. Yes. Oh, I say. Okay, well, studio It was passion, I guess. Yeah. What? Listen, I mean,

Atlanta Braves shut out Cincinnati Reds again, win first postseason series in 19 years
"On Thursday game to the series between the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati reds, the braves, of course, one game one one to nothing in thirteen innings and you know what? In Anderson was terrific again for the braves he carried a shut in the middle innings in this happened for Atlanta in the bottom of the pit. Bulls Riley here's the pitch line for the gap in left center field that's in for a hit. It splits the defenders rules all the way to the wall rally around third he will come in to score standing its second with an RBI. Ruled the Kunia it's one to nothing braves. In the bottom of the eighth inning, the braves the game out of reach Marcel Zona with a big hit the pitch. In the air and hit well to left back as good when looking up and waving goodbye to run home run. Marcel. Ozone. And it's three to nothing braves. At from six eighty, the fan, the braves would add a couple more runs they win five nothing. The reds do not score a run in the two game series after the Game Brian Snicker was asked about Marcellus Zona stopping along the first base line after he club that home run and taking an imaginary selfie nothing surprises me anymore I mean, that's the age we're in a psychologist I duNno. Create You know what? I've seen I I watched the highlights and I see guys strutting around. The is doing this and that doesn't even faze me anymore. It's where we're at in the game you know what I better deal with it because it ain't going away in Anderson the braves pitcher threw six scoreless innings and he talked about his struggles in the second inning and adapting This kind of been my thing this year I guess so far have one kind where I really have to battle and and grind through it and. just the confidence you get from that just kind of propels you know through the rest of the outing and. We made some great place Freddie. Catching that line dry was was huge just for for my confidence and for the situation that kind of unfolded
Atlanta Braves overcome Cincinnati Reds in longest scoreless duel
"The Braves Post season opener was long and stress filled, but in the end, they got the perfect ending at truest park. Now, today, the Braves have the chance to close out this best three of going through one of three wild series. It was a very stressful for half hours. Braves hitters struck out 21 times, part of a two team postseason record. 37. But it was Freddie Freeman, who turned stress to joy, his RV guy single in the 13th inning, lifting the Braves to a one. Nothing win over the Reds all worth it. In the end, we struck out 40 times as long as we win great pitching on both sides manager Brian Snitker watching his starter, Max freed in the bullpen. I don't care who you're playing, you throw up 13 innings of zeros. It's pretty special Edgar Trick. It's 95.5 WSB ink and first pitch set for noon Tomorrow.

"How do you put in the work understanding that? I guess when you look at Development Psychology of growth. Mindset. Effects Mindset. Takes Mindset as you they're having to be done, you can't prove it and so growth mindset hunting kids understand that. You may not be there right now. Where you want to be but if you put in the work and you have the feedback loop and he looked to the future and you stay persistent on accomplishing your goal like you can outpace People Plan for the Future My dad always told me when I was a kid to plan plan the high school baseball teams when I was eight I was planning for high school. And then once I accomplished that how do I make a division one team and play not just be a bench warrant within how do I make the big leagues make an All Star Team So it's always like setting that long term goals. We have something that building towards and just put in the hours. That's really what it comes down to the people who put in the hours and are attentive and devote themselves to something are the ones that that naked And you certainly have in momentum is something you have both on and off the field right now you know your youtube channel dedicated sharing those true stories and the bold opinions, not just what everybody wants to hear but the actual true opinions of people can truly inspire us it creates that connection that inspiration in spirit in connectivity you do that through like I do people ask me how familiar nine months out of law school i. Said Math and time right? I was twice a twice as many productive hours twice as efficiently twice a statistical success seven days a week consistently. So when I in nine months. Got All these awards I told the guys like Oh, my God you killed the complex. You made a million dollars in your plan was to fifty I said Yeah. But I work ten years like, what are you talking about I said, I had ten years of productivity in nine months because I was twice as productive with the hours efficiency incident, it was sixty four hour days seven days a week s fifty six days a week that equal ten years and nine months and I think you really shown both athletically and entrepreneurial wise what you can do with time in math and a great attitude and a great. Perspective to help others and I certainly appreciate you taking the time the greatest pitcher in mlb today right now, the starting pitcher for the Reds Trevor Bauer here with David Meltzer's entrepreneur the playbook by hope you enjoyed this week's episode of the playbook as.

"In it and as delicious. and. So in Christmas, my sister got me a bunch of What's the word. There's their air sealed jar to air pack. Yeah and so she would make Pie Manson and neither of air sealed jars of little like. You know bite size is. Really that was really fun I, try to stay as as much away from superstition as I can and as much in the routine as I can of being a baseball player game is so steeped in superstition that. Like a perfect example of just the other day out mills through no hitter for the cubs and I was sitting in Saint Louis in the Dugout, you're playing game. My teammates on Great Nice Music. there. WHO's almost where? Of Does this Mike I'm looking in the field is shortstop going to come saying? No, the scoreboard look up others eight games on the on the board looking around like I. Don't get it and I see the cubs scored twelve nothing but there's zero in the hit. All like. Oh it's ninth-inning interesting I. Wonder if it's the big one of the small one and by big one mean is that a perfect game must small one is a no hitter don't you can't say no hitter a perfect game I'm like, Oh, I gotta find ask about up to the clubhouse. So like it's just it's so ingrained in the game, which is man there's so many good stories about different superstitions probably, Sean Green was a client of mine at least I in Berg's in a friend of mine and he had a knock on wood all the time it drove me crazy even in business as an entrepreneur. A desk. Sondhi. GotTa let let off of that doesn't credible. But I do have a great idea Bauer Bites. May Have to give you a call afterwards and we'll market the Bauer bites the honey based bite-sized Apple Pie, not only for great taste, but for good. Luck. May. Work for something like that where you're going Good. Well, he's got some creativity to you. Just last as we finish up, you know it seems to be a common theme. To set an example. You know to be able to we were on earlier today with an entrepreneur in the African American community and how important it is to have to know the history of some great black leaders that have you know Ben or Old ben was created from you know the inventors of so many different things so that people can see someone like them and it seems to me that you as a player in child you..

"You do getting ready for the next star but not in the same way as a the position players and like is it gives you a great platform to talk things that you're passionate about. little alive that you're it weren't live. So I'm I'm super excited. To be able to do it, I'm very blessed to be able to do it. Growing up I was always a dream of mine to be able to do that but I didn't seem tangible. You know as I looked at their on screen. And saw these players are superstars watching dodger games growing up in La and stuff and. I was like man I could just be one of those guys that'd be awesome. But it didn't seem like a tangible golden us to be here finally and to. To be able to be in that space hopefully, be doing the same type of thing for the next generation of kids is such a such a plus him. And that's such a great attitude to take kind of planting seeds under trees. You may not even sit under but one of the things about pitchers that makes or breaks pitcher besides their health obviously is the way they use that time. You know it's really easy for a day to day player to stay focused. Because, they're very routine oriented, and as you know Trevor Hoffman, for example, was extreme routine EST and being able to stay focused in productive accessible ungracious during that time and not do detrimental things irs the anomaly I mentioned David Wells who had a different kind of system of routine for what he did on the off hours. But you know I I know pitchers are great. Golfers ingred jugglers because they got plenty of time sitting on the bench to Juggle, baseball's and play golf. But the ones that I really admire the ones that expand accelerate themselves beyond just pitching the expand their mind philanthropy, other things that they do, and they can make such a huge impact. Let's talk about momentum. Where did you come up with the idea to create such a great content platform in provide you know fans an opportunity to speak their minds and allow you to speak your mind as well. As the idea really started the two, thousand, eighteen, all star game I heard. The commissioner said that like to market their players better in baseball, but the players have to want to engage So that was one thing that kind of sparked it off. Again, it's going to be on the players I can help solve that problem just seeing baseball the popularity baseball declining amongst young fans. You see this massive participation rate in baseball until about twelve or thirteen years old, and there's a cliff. Because kids go to high school baseball is no longer popular. It's all about football and basketball and then we see this the young fan base really go away. So like fourteen till thirty, four, zero, five ranges. Known there's non-related Baseball fans and then baseball fans can come along average is ages fifty five years old advantage for baseball fan. So that was something to I care about seeing the game in a better place than it was when I came in So trying to help solve baseball's operating problem. Ultimately. It all comes back down to the same thing, which is you have to create inspiration for the young people to create.
Chicago White Sox hit five HRs against Cincinnati Reds
"Sport. Why sought setting five solo home runs on the way to we'll find out in victory over the Red Saturday night, snapping Cincinnati six game winning streak. Trevor Bauer picking up the lost, dropping to four and four postseason race after Saturday, has threads one game behind ST Louis for second place, the nationally Central As the Cardinals defeated the Pirates in Pittsburgh 54 last night. The red still hold the second wild car position in the National
Chicago White Sox clinch winning season, plus current playoff field
"Turn your head because I certainly did over the past couple of days maybe I got washed up at a bit of college football, the NFL return and but I didn't realize the Chicago White Sox. We're now in first place in the American league central after going eight and two in their last ten games they are. Let's see a game up on the Minnesota twins who have figured things out and are now in second place in that. Leaves the Cleveland Indians losers of six straight all the way down to third place at twenty and twenty one and four and a half games out. So so the Indians have gone from first place in the division arguably the team to beat in the American League two. Now, a wildcard team outside of the top two in the division and four and a half games out just that quickly I mean, don't you know six in a row and when the white sox are winning four that's at least. Four Games in the last four days and with a deficit of four and a half, it's gone from a half a game to four and a half year. By the time Friday rolled around you have the Detroit Tigers at twenty and twenty six, and then the Kansas City royals at twenty and twenty eight. Neither of them are atrocious baseball teams, which honestly is a bit better than I had anticipated for both of them but neither of them are going to be infecting the playoff picture with their presence. Where do we go here? The Chicago White SOx thirty and sixteen winners of four, straight eight and two in their last ten they swept the Tigers this past weekend. Let's take a look at their scheduled down the stretch here. See who they have coming up. They have four with the Minnesota twins who I just spoke about being a game back. So this'll be a fantastic series between the white. SOX and the twins it'll be in Minnesota Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday some fantastic pitching matchups in those. Then they travel to Cincinnati to Cleveland and retell her for return home ver-. CHICAGO. So the white sox tough schedule down the stretch with clubs over five hundred and then the reds mixed in there. So we'll see if they can continue to play quality baseball they continue to be led by Jose Abreu. He's crushing the Baseball fifteen home runs. Forty eight RB is Tim Anderson is currently your Major League leader. In batting average, he'd be your batting champion at three, sixty two. If he qualifies in Thirty six games, one, hundred, fifty, two are bats I think he has just qualified fine when it comes to that statistic on the pitching side of things Lucas g Alito. Continues to pitch well, Dallas Kaikal not a lot of people talking about it but six in two two, one, nine era talk about a successful year Then you got mad foster coming out of the bullpen with a one three, one era so Chicago a well rounded team they were my surprise bic in the American league at least they got the memo because. My Cincinnati reds on the other side will get to them but they still haven't figured things out sell but hey, one or two in regards to surprise picks. So the summer I'll take that absolutely. Did I think they'd be a first place team I didn't think the white sox will be a first place team but I certainly thought they were good enough to. Make the wild card and make the playoffs. Now we're talking standard one, sixty, two, five teams but yeah, certainly a pleasant surprise on the south side of the windy city.
Oakland A's announce positive virus test, game vs. Houston Astros postponed
"In Houston Astros had to cancel our game today after someone within the A's organization tested positive for the Corona virus. KCBS is Jennifer Hodges says the ayes have not indicated if it was a player or staff member. The ayes had conducted testing for the entire traveling team and staff when the positive case was discovered. Allens that they face is making sure that the disease does not spread through the rest of the A's. Dr. Zachary Benny is an epidemiologist with the Oxford College of Emory University. He says Major League Baseball has already seen two large outbreaks, but the recent cases they did manage to get under control, so it's a little hard to know what Caused two teams have really bad outbreaks in two teams to be able to contain them. But well, we'll have to see the A's air. Now the 11th MLB team with a covert related postponement. What they need to do now is if they want to be cautious. They probably need to postpone the games for the A's for the next few days, maybe 45 days, which is what we saw. With New York Mets and with the Cincinnati Reds. Jennifer

"And for the Cincinnati Reds, they sent Wade Miley to the hill tonight. He's o into with a 16 point to O E. R a He's only lasted one in two thirds innings in both of his starts. He's given up six hits, six earned runs. He's walked for struck out five. And I hope he can give the Red's a credible start tonight. Five or six innings. But he looks terribly out of shape to me. I don't know, but when you can only last one and two thirds innings, and you are absolutely gassed. Hey, Thisclose needs him. He's a left handed starter. They need him to come through at some point, And hopefully, tonight is the night when those things start to happen for Wade Miley He goes up against Cardinals lefty. Kwong on Kim, who is zero and zero. That's his record with a 3.86 e R. A So critical start tonight. And you notice that last night Mike shelter manager of the Cardinals, the No Cardinal starter, I think has gone beyond, like five innings. I made there pulling them early. I mean, they hit so many off days. So many postponements because of covert 19. It's going to take the cardinal starters a long time to build up their arm strength, So I'm really interested to see how long Ah! Kwong own Kim last tonight and also Wade Miley. So you don't want to dig into this bullpen too deep here, you know, on on back to back days. But the Reds had a fantastic outing last night by their bullpen. And that was that was fantastic to see Because Michael Lorenzen, Amir Garrett Tyler Thornburg and then finally, rice L Iglesias and I think it was a great move Getting a glace c'est back out there. When you fail and you blow a safe Hey, get right back out there the next day and He got to save and hopefully his third of the season and hopefully he is back up to speed. And.

"It is here everything that the last month has been leading up to the middle of the show segments three and four. We've been going through the best of the best. We started from the team level. Then we went to the divisional level. Then we went to the playoffs and here we are in the world series. Sit is the nineteen seventy six reds representing the National League in the Nineteen Ninety Eight Yankees representing the American League. It is the big red machine versus the Yankees Dynasty of the late nineties. Santa I thought the best way to break this down. I've kind of been going game by game in regards to who would start. Who would play? But I wanted to look at a positional match up here between the reds and the Yankees. And how do they break down? How to first baseman compare second baseman ultimately go through the rotation and the bullpen. So we can discuss who. Who would win a series in regards to these two teams? So let's jump right into it here. At first base going around horn the reds run out. Tony Perez. He hits to sixty that year. Nineteen home runs ninety. Rbi's at first base the Yankees they had Tino Martinez at twenty eight and one. Twenty three hitting two eighty so an advantage there to the New York Yankees and Tino Martinez right off the bat when it comes to first base Tony Perez had a heck of a career. Don't get me wrong. Really Good Ball player. But in regards to these specific matchups. He's GonNa fall just short. Let's see next up. Second Baseman. Joe Morgan he hit three twenty with twenty seven and one eleven going over to Chuck knob block for the Yankees to sixty five seventeen. Sixty four advantage Joe Morgan and the Cincinnati reds. So we got one to one match up there in the lineup. Pete rose at third base. He'll obviously get the nod. He hit three twenty three only ten homers and sixty three. Rbi's over Scott Brosius who had three hundred one thousand nine hundred ninety eight. But it's Pete Rose it's advantage reds next up. We got the shortstop Dave concepcion to eighty one nine and sixty nine for the reds in Derek. Jeeter number two for the Yankees Hidden. Three twenty four with Nineteen eighty-four advantage New York Yankees. Derek Jeeter were tied up again at two in regards to the the lineup catching here Johnny Bench for the reds. He hit two thirty four. This year was sixteen and seventy four but johnny bench in his prime arguably one of the best catchers if not the best catcher of all time matching up against Posada who to sixty eight with seventeen dinger's this year. You gotta go advantage. Johnny Bench numbers are comparable. Possibly favor Posada the individual and the type of player. He is Johnny Bench advantage. Cincinnati reds. Go into left field. George Foster hit three zero six twenty nine in one twenty-one for the Cincinnati reds strong year that one outlast Chad Curtis Suid to forty three with ten fifty six so another advantage for the Cincinnati reds to take the overall league going to Centerfield Cesar Gear. Amino for the reds here three. Oh seven not a power guy a little bit more of a speed..

"But when somebody comes to you at the tag if the groundhog goes the second baseman and you're not there yet and he steps towards you to make attack now you have three feet on your side to try to get around him. If you can't do that you'll be out of the baseline. Do you think umpires. You're okay with an electronic strike zone. It seems more so that it's it sooner rather than later. I know you talked to a lot of the the UMPIRES for baseball rules. Academy Dot Com. What do you think their thoughts on on that particular situation here and I thought there was a time when they were not okay with the review. Place reluctantly said okay. We'll review home runs foul fair. Abbott reviewing basically everything never. Yes it used to be a black bark when you make a call out of seal and it would be overturned fires realize that you know it is what it is. They're having a slow the standard. I'm trying to make a on real time. Just my only by eyesight. I'm not a barest anymore. So I think the same thing what happened with the robotic strike down as well. I don't know if the technology is there yet. I think there's long as empire steel that there's going to be a home plate umpire and they can still stay employed. We're GONNA be okay with. Yeah I also like the idea them. Addressing the crowd this year and obviously. We're not seeing that yet. But on these reviewable place at least explaining to the fan base because at times you could have multiple different reviews the dictate if you want to challenge and other place so it's very important to at least explain that to the The viewing audience. Yeah and I think the empires little worried about that because not all of them agree public speaker. It's not easy to is for instance football when the NFL has their referee. Comedy gets on camera turns his microphone on he explains what he's the one guy out of that crew that gets talk umpires though they shift every night so it may not be only you know the the the the whole crew the crew chief does this might be somebody else who gets Mike them and they're worried that they may not be the best public speaker. They love a couple of words. It comes out wrong. All of a sudden goes viral begging but I think if people just Kinda give them break break religious if they're trying to do the best they can That they are very well versed in the reason. And I've got no almost all the empires and I can tell you. They take a lot of pride at what they do. The same way the players do they want to be invisible and they certainly don't want to be. The reason team wins or loses. Because of a bad call. So it'll be interesting but I think for the fans sake it'll be better whether you're in the in the stands or a washing your on TV we're GONNA get explanations from the empire's this year that we've never had before final question. Baseball RULES ACADEMY DOT COM. So we don't have games going on right now. What are you? What are you trying to do with your site to make sure that fans are still engaged? Well tell you. And as we know there's so many quirky oddities in things that happened in the game of baseball. Why did you get so involved with the site and tell us about the site? The name of it where people can go. But why did you start doing this? Well I did it and the name of the site. Dan is very simple. It's Baseball Rules Academy baseball rules. Academy Dot Com. I did it as a broadcaster because I thought as a player I played ten years five in the major leagues five hundred bigly in the minor leagues. But I always thought I knew the rules just by being around the right group books time at time. I thought I was one of those guys who was a little bit more knowledgeable about rules in my teammates until I got the TV booth and then it was a quirky rules related play on the field and I look around and like Holy Moses will happen there and we go to break and I'm supposed to have the answer sixty seconds where we come back right and I would look to the rule book and I realized I couldn't find anything. I decided right then and there make a database to attach slang words to the rulebook so like a battered drops. Battling a ball. What happens ripe it so I began to develop a database not realize when I started getting into it man. This baseball rulebook is about as complicated as any rule book out there. So secretary longtime after seven or eight years. Now we finally have come out with our second version of the rules website During peak of a regular major league season. The League you triple lesson Olympics and of course major league level so you can look up any rule you just by typing in some some some slang words or even a player's name or something like that We've got an extensive database there But there's also a premium membership level that you know if you WanNa take advantage of all the videos we have. We have close to three hundred teaching videos. We have probably three hundred special case. Reports of of interpretive plays that have happened in the major leagues. And how empires look at things. So if you're if you're serious coach or serious playing or an aspiring empire. I mean it's the place to go because you can take away the put in your pocket and call up any rule. Anytime BASEBALL RULES ACADEMY DOT COM. GimMe a situation in baseball. That people interpret wrong all the time but yet you see it on a nightly basis in major league baseball well the first one that comes to mind for me is one that we saw last year during the world series. It was game number six any number seven when trae Turner Look Round bottle on the third base side of the pitcher's mound. He ran down to first base. Now trae turn is a right handed hitter so directly roof and his right hand batter spock's to first base is in fair territory. He's running down the line. The pitcher picks the ball up throws it and the ball gets to second baseman. Who's covering who's curiel at the same time that the runner does and There was interference called and and everybody just went crazy. You know you can't do this in a world series. I'm the endless. Had IT wrong? Trae turn it didn't understand what he was doing. All it took Joe Torre and a post game meeting with the press to explain the rule and this is one of the most commonly misunderstood rules at every different level Amateur Baseball High School Baseball College all the way up to the big leagues and That's one that it's called the runners lane the forty five foot lane violation and It was a perfect call by the empire and crew in that world series. And that's one that comes to my mind right away that people just don't know but once they realize that its role makes them a better player. Fan Yeah define that then so you have the runners lane in the first base lane. You know where people say well. He's got to be between the two white lines. It's not necessarily the case. Is it no you? Don't you know if you go to a big league game? You look at the first base line little line that starts halfway forty five feet from first base forty five feet from home plate and then it gives you a little three foot lane that is in foul territory when a runner is not forced to run in that lane however if he's not running in that lane and he interferes with the receiving throw then you could be charged for interference. And that's what happened to try. Turner. There's no rule because if it's a ground ball the second baseman there's no way that you're gonNA get in the way of the throat then there's no reason for you to be in that lane however on balls that are hit right in front of home plate maybe a bunch. Maybe a little binder squeaker that the catcher comes out and field. He's got a photo first base if that runner is in fair territory than he could be cutting off the throwing lane for the fielder receiving the throat presumably the first base. And if he is that's what an empire should call runners interference in that. That's the case. The ball is dead. The runners ordered for space and a lot of people. Don't now what happens you know? How would I see high school baseball? Dan Is UMPIRES. Don't call this. Because when they do coaches go beserk they go crazy. They can't believe it. It's a lot easier. Sometimes that make the no call than it is to make the right call but it's not teaching your players to find the game. How about a ground ball to a second baseman with a run I? How much distance should the runner give? Because you know you always hear it you have to allow him to make the play and then you hear about the tag. Is he out of a lane? Well where is the lane? How does that all work on some of those kind of plays well? There's no lane between first and second base that there's but there's a right of way that goes on into base. Pats and I think that's one thing that you're referring to anytime that a fielder is fielding a batted ball. He's got the right away. The runner has to clear out of the way. You can't run by him and touch it so close to him the empire would deem it interference because not necessary. You can't run by an yell at them. Say Hey. Alex Rodriguez did when he was playing for the right. But what what you can do is anticipate what's happening If your first run first base you see a Ground Ball. The second baseman. There's no play being made on you as far as tag place. You know the big circle around that fielder and not be out of the baseline so he would force him to rather than tag. You have to go to second base to start a double play but the one thing you do not want to do of course is to run into a fielder when he's feeling the ball and then how much you get three feet correct. So he's trying to do a tag double play. Make the make the ground ball make the play in his glove tag. The runner throw to first. But that runner. He's only got three feet one way or another correct. Yeah and this is where it gets kinda funny and I think that when you start seeing videos and that's where a website like line. It really comes in handy because you can visually there. The runner has no base path. Until there's a play being made on him. So for instance. If I'm taking a lead from first base and a throw over to first base and I'm caught off the back I can start running out towards the right field if I want because where I established my own running lane so as soon as Sunday tries to make a tag on me I now have to have it. Running base path and that path would be direct line between where the tag is tempted to be made on B. and the next base. So it's not. It's not an exact geometric line from first base second base third base. It's where the runner is. The tag is being made. That's when you establish your baseline and three feet you're talking about is three feet on either side of that line has six feet.

"Are putting in long hours around the clock to best serve our community so the next time you're in schmucks tell them thanks and that you appreciate them let them know how much we appreciate their efforts because we will all get through this together. One of my favorite people in the business of Baseball Chris Welch former Major League pitcher and now longtime analyst with the Cincinnati reds. He also runs a website. That will not only teach you about the rules. But bring you in. It's interactive is well. Chris is always I miss CNN. It's great talking to you but Hopefully we'll see each other in person fairly soon. How you doing? I'm doing great Danny. You know we were. We were scheduled to to meet up on opening day in Cincinnati. The parade the cardinals and everything else. It's it's one of the big match ups that I always love on the reds played cardinals because I get a couple of teams that I really like and get the hang around us so Thanks for having me on today. You got misplaced golf with the on opening day and I really miss seeing what this rivalry have been like in twenty twenty and maybe we'll still. We'll have that chance. But what were your expectations for the reds coming into the season? Wow very high expectations you know the ransack thank The Front office says took a bucket thereafter and said Hey. We don't think that we're going to have a better starting pitching rotation in the next few years than we do right here in two thousand so the winner of Two Thousand Nineteen Two thousand twenty one. They decided to go for a lot of money. More than one hundred and sixty million dollars in free agents They made some trades. They decided to bolster their offense. A little bit. Bring in guys like Mike Nicasio to to get already pretty decent team over the edge and I think that was part of it then. I think the other part of that. They see the window of Joey votto being a high quality caliber possibly MVP type player beginning to close enclosed quickly. So you want also take advantage of that so I think everybody in. Cincinnati had great expectations for this Auckland. What did that line of look like Especially towards the tail into spring. When you're playing your regulars and you're seeing Mustafa's Kosta Janos Suarez veto some of the others. I know there's some injuries mixed in there. But you didn't have the full complement. But what was it looking like as you're heading towards That Opening Day. Matchup with the cardinals. You know the interesting part of the lineup is at the very top for me. Because res- went. They signed their first ever Japanese. Free agent Akiyama who's left handed hitter not a big power guy but he was always very good on base percentage player over Japan and I think that that the reds thought his skill set would play pretty well as rates in the same way. It'd probably platoon little bit. Maybe with a young player name. Nick Zell Dick. You gotTa look at him. Last year. He came into camp injured with a shoulder into that. You know he should be ready to go right now so. I think that that would be the top end of the lineup. Joey bottle would probably be in the number two spot. And then from there it would be this learning Mustafa's past the however. David Bell wanted to play the lefty righty matchups and I think the good thing for the Red Sox fans standpoint is that they've got some firepower. They would have some threats in that lineup as far as power hitters. All the way down to the you know. Probably the number seven spot in the eight spot Freddie Galvez. Who's going to take over shortstop on an everyday basis the guy that switch hitter you can expect fifteen or twenty out of him so. I think that there was a lot of excitement to go along with good pitching that they were going to see some homeroom ball set to what would rotation look like a you know. When you think about some of the the big names that you have coming back and guys that really Kinda reclaim their careers in Cincinnati. I thought you're pitching was going to be really improved this year. You know the pitching is going to be improved because you have veteran status pitchers who are now reaching their peak age wise. These guys are thirty five years old. They're twenty nine twenty eight twenty seven one and one a. whether it's sunny gray or or Trevor Bauer no Trevor Bauer. I'm a steal. You know so you know. Casino was was the at the start opening day starter last year. Trevor Trevor Bowers on board obviously sunny grey had he got some cy young award boats and so I think those top three or guys that they really think going to be They would keep the red some have any kind of losing streaks which is always a real problem on ballclub doesn't Excel Wade. Miley was signed as a free agent. left hair first time at a. Red Square takes him. That is very exciting. And he kinda you go one through one through five in that rotation and now you're looking at is the some of the guys who were in the rotation last year the year before our Tom Alley for instance pitch pretty well. Times LAST YEAR. For the reds. Probably looking at going to triple a long time for that kind of depth that they came into spring training. You know looking to cut pitchers off their roster rather than at pitchers to the rotation. How I'd would it have this year? And hopefully we'll we'll find out but to not see Marty Brennaman in the radio booth in a Cincinnati reds game. How how odd would that have been Chris? I think even more odd for you would be not to see him in the media dining room because a lot of people don't know this. I think the best forty events in my day sitting with having because this Guy Holds Court. He has great stage presence. He loves you and gets on you all the time. Get BILLIONAIRE IN. Turn a little bit you know. Sometimes they hurt. But that's the beauty of it though. It is the beauty of it and the guys completely unhinged out what he's not on the air when he's the air is one of the best officials ever caused a terrific reds fans are going to really. Miss Him. I think. Because it's you know little by little the fabric of the game is changing and when you lose icons like Marty Brennan Menendez in the Radio Boots. You know you just don't have you. Don't have the comfort a turning the radio on and hearing that that old leather shoes that fits so well kind of voice things move on certain late but they're they're certainly going to be a big void. I want to get to your site here in just a moment but a final question about the reds David Bell and his long history with his family with the reds and the city of Cincinnati. What would it mean on a personal level David Bell to win in Cincinnati and to do it with the reds? What what do you think that would mean to him and for the city and the fan base? I think it would mean everything for him. Obviously I mean he's always been a guy even going back to the days when Dusty Baker was managing. Jesse told me one time he goes. You know who's going to succeed me as manager David Bell that time David Bell is managing the double eighteen for the reds. In the meantime he had moved on came to the bench coach. The cardinals he. He's well respected his father. Buddy Bell is in the Reds Front Office document. Everything plagued the front office operative coach and so on So the Bell family very well entrenched Cincinnati. It would be a lot. I mean Cincinnati's allow like Saint Louis. You really proud of your own when they do something fun and great and I think that that's how they would appreciate it bill. The one thing that I would recommend. You didn't ask this question but I I think the one thing David Bell you learn as a manager is you have to sometimes follow your own instincts a little more than you think you do Everybody can manage with the stat sheet. Anybody can manage now with all the analytics that the science apartments and the data departments are giving to the manager. But I WANNA see him. Take that one step forward where he begins to manage people a an and situations in putting guys situation or they can succeed by using his gut feel a little bit because he's got a great sense of baseball where he knows the game. He's got a great sense of being leader.

But this guy's been dominant. So far this year. Yeah. I like it when I blame complicated stats. Here. Give us a complicated stats, Mark. Yeah. So if you like hell effective pitches for picture, you can look at something like batting average again or her friends again. But that doesn't really tell you the full story. There is a we're going to put the name on the side for a second. I'm just going to tell you what it does this cat every time. You throw a pitch. Whatever pitch. It is best ball curve changeup slider. Feeder right now has more point country run value than any other pitcher in baseball. Well, that's indicative of a really effective pitch and a pitch that the guy knows because he's using it a lot anti owned the giants with it. Not only to the own the giants with one PM the giants twice in the last thirty PM wave of change that is one shy of the most in a game the fear here is sixteen and one of the pitchers who had sixteen is Louis SEO.
