"And i think that the the focus here for the remainder of the season and this first step of the remainder of the season in this game is to not make daniel jones. Throw the ball over twenty five or thirty times a game. I know that you want that from your starting quarterback but it the less time that daniel jones has to throw the ball and in this situation against a team that has a really good safety. The better keep running the football. I think that they're going to have a very efficient day. Running the ball if unless cincinnati comes out with a fire under their ass and a motivation that we haven't seen before. I think that they're going to be able to have a strong day on the ground yet. this is. I think one of the games remaining in the giants schedule that we should look at and more or less. Expect the giants to win a. We haven't said that. Have said that much this year and i think the last time we sat here and really said this is again. The giants should win. It turned out to be the forty niners game and they came out and played their best game of the season. So unless cincinnati does that. And like you said comes out and plays with a fire and execution that we just haven't seen from them maybe to prove that joe burrow was the only good thing about their team or to win one for joe or whatever. This is a game. We should expect the giants to unless maybe the giants come out super flat off of their own by week. Well folks that is going to be it from us on today's film breakdown. Show of the christian joe show. We're going to see how things out against the cincinnati bengals as this is an important game with the nfc east pretty much locked up with every single team. Having three wins. If the giants want to make this final push impossibly win the nfc east. They're in a position to in that first step starts with their first game after the.

"I mean that's sure felt like what was going to happen last week. But i read argue brand talking about ben roethlisberger and he said that one thing about rothlisburger that is Really unique in his experience in the league is that like when rothlisburger basically like turns the switch and and it's time to go to work these like nobody's ever played with and i think that he's getting some freedom this year that maybe he hasn't always had in the past to do some things. At the line of scrimmage especially in the second half of games at once. He's figured out. What the defense is doing. That has has been really really effective for the steelers. So you know. I mean i don't know if you can survive entire games like that and i'm not saying that's totally improvisational but we've certainly seen last. Couple of weeks turned the game overall burger at crunch time and he's certainly delivered absolutely so this team does seem to me like they are closers. They have that wins mentality. If you've noticed the new england patriots have done that so much over the years. There have been so many games even when they were forced into what they have those games that were sure they were finally going to lose and they did the kansas city chiefs. The defending champions should have lost that game to the carolina. Panthers able to pull it out. They were lucky that carolina went for two onside kicks in the game. They were lucky that there weren't about thirty more seconds left on the clock or carolina could've won that game good teams win when they play bad. And that's what the steelers doing right. Now they have played bad some games but played well enough to be eight and now and that's a very special thing first time in history. So kevin what we're gonna do right now we're going to talk about the rankings. But i'm gonna springs something on you. I did not tell you about this before we went on because this is something i've been toying around with. We talk about the ranks every week. I'm gonna call this segment breaking rank in what i'm gonna do is i'm going to give you the steelers. And the bengals in four categories on offense and four categories on defense. And you tell me who has the better rank what you think go all right. Total yards steelers bengals. The bengals bengals are ranked seventeenth with three sixty one point nine the steelers twenty fifth with three forty one point zero good job. You've got number one. Who's the better rushing team here. Steelers or the bengals steelers the steelers one nine ranked nineteenth. And what a one point three for the bengals on your fm. Dial twenty. Three the thing that we're looking at here is the offense of ranked so far the first two that we're looking at not fantastic wrote enough to get it done. But that's not the most important stat and that one's coming up but before we do that. Let's do passing. Who's the better passing team here led by the rookie. Is that the bengals or led by the wily vet. is it the steelers. Yes a tough one You know for a ton of yards per game And i'm gonna guess that burrow as probably put up some decent yards in second half when cincinnati has been behind games and had to come back. So i'm gonna take shot statesborough in the bengals. It absolutely is the bengals our tenth with two hundred sixty point six yards per game. The steelers are twenty-second with only two thirty two. But when you're running the ball well in. You're not having to pass all the time in your closing out games and you're not trying to come from behind like you said like the bengals playing catch-up garbage time yards. That's pretty much what this is here. Now the most telling stat and we talked about this every single week. Points per game so steelers bengals. Who do you think has more points per game. Gotta be steelers. I know they're in the top five in the league. It absolutely is the steelers. There's still a twenty nine point four points per game ranked number five. That is their best offensive rank here and that is not offensive whatsoever for the fact that we're really excited that they are ranked number five the bengals at number twenty at twenty four point three and a lot of those points like you said are probably more garbage time points so the most important stat. Here i would think would be points per game that gives pittsburgh the biggest advantage on offense would say. Yeah absolutely and You know you gotta look at The scenarios in which a lot of these points are being scored and stores of had to score points late the last couple of weeks because of the tight ball games so You know. I think that when we look at fourth quarters of games these are these are two different teams. The steelers have been. It's crunch time games Where they've been in the guts of the game in the fourth quarter and the bengals have been in some games where the opponents or go ahead and trying to put away. And so i think if it's a close game on sunday that bodes well for the steelers. I really think it does now where these were close. Defense is not as close so. I think you're going to have a field day here and by the way you were for four. The offense of category so This is not a very fun game for anybody else. But you because you are just absolutely dominating here. And i think you're going to be the same on defense. Total yards rushing yards and passing yards. It's all the same team who is that. Well i'm gonna go out on a limb and say that's the pittsburgh steelers. Yeah that's that's a pretty strong limb. What your way. But you're in pretty good shape on that limb. You're not going to be face. I in the turf on that one Total yardage the defense of the cincinnati bengals given up four hundred point nine yards per game. That's twenty six. The steelers three hundred seventeen point four. That's six rushing yards. The bengals have given up one forty four game or ranked twenty ninth. So that's almost near the bottom of the league rushing defense for the steelers one zero two point eight. They are ranked knife now. They were ranked second just two weeks ago but they've taken a hit with two back to back games against teams that ran all over them. Of course the two hundred sixty three against baltimore. The hundred forty against dallas. You know so. That's over two hundred yards per game average there alalu being gone and mike helton being gone. Kevin what do you think is that just crushing the defense. Yeah and i'll be surprised if cincinnati doesn't try to establish a game on sunday to try to help burrow out. Now i think those guys are both back. Is that correct. They've taken a turn. As of thursday a full participant was mike helton on wednesday and then he was a partial participant. So there's a lot of thought that he's not playing. There's a lot of thought that you're not gonna see aloe allo..

Psychiatrist Dr. Mark Goulston - Real influence and Training Yourself

"You're like you're like. Drinking from a fire. I'm apple. Ramp Myself Up I. was I can't take a nap on your show. That's for sure. I want to demonstrate something because there's a saying at least in Hollywood I'm not that far from it even though we're all isolated. It's better to show than to tell so. I'm going to demonstrate something far. Listeners in for you about how to be more influential. One of the things unfortunate to do is i. On on break now, but I breakfast would Larry King every day. Although we're doing zoom calls now and something. I've noticed about Larry because Larry eighty-six. He's still going strong. Still has a show. It streamed call Larry King now on home on the on the Internet and something I've noticed what has made Larry's such an icon. Is. Here's A. Plus after. and not a minus sir, and not a topper. What that means is when he listens to people. He adds to what they're saying. He doesn't a minus it he doesn't. Get Defensive. He doesn't give advice. He doesn't give unsolicited advice on his shows, so nobody's afraid. They're going to get a GOTCHA. And he's not a topper. If you say I if you say Oh, I went to the mountains, he he's not going to say oh. That's very nice. You know we went to Europe. And, so I'm going to be a plus to something. You just said I. Hope this will add value. You're listening because you mentioned something about training and I was thinking as you were talking about and I'm. And I'm reminded of a fellow named Dan Sullivan. Dan Sullivan found something called the strategic coach and part of what Dan said is what life get comes down to his habits. Happy People have different habits than unhappy people. Successful people have different habits than unsuccessful people. And he said what a habit is is it's a discrete piece of behavior that you repeat over and over again until it becomes a habit. And it takes about a month, and in other words you train on that and you repeat on that takes discipline, but over time you internalize it, and it becomes more natural, and then you can learn another habit now why this is important under stress because I'm am a psychiatrist, but I'm also a passionate about neuroscience. Is. What happens is when we're under stress and who isn't. We have you've all heard of your adrenal glands? And what happens is your adrenal guns. Put out something called Cortisol. High Cortisol is high stress and what happens is your high cortisol triggers something in your brain called your middle and Migdal as part of your emotional brain, and when that high cortisol goes up. What happens is it triggers a migdal hijack and what that means. Is Your Migdal shunts blood away from your thinking brain. Into your survival brain and guess what taps into your training. It will tap in to what you've been trained to do almost automatically. Do you think NBA stars when. They think between shots. No, it's training and they've been trained. What what's the saying? It May Have Been Stephen, Covey senior, or someone said you need. What is it ten thousand? What does it take to be come an expert? He said was at ten thousand hours. As a ten thousand hours or know that's probably more training in many of us however. Yeah thousands of hours. Thousands of hours and what happens is you become an expert at it, so you don't even have to think when you're faced with a situation, so I can't emphasize what Jay is saying. Strongly enough train train train train so that you have many many options, no matter what something whatever is. Facing you years ago I, was a fan of tiger woods during his heyday, and it was interesting when someone asked him. How do you play around the Gulf? He says. I've hit every shot possible ten thousand times, so he's an expert in every shot. He said every time I hit a shot. I don't race ahead I. don't worry about it because I know. I've trained and hit whatever SEAN I'M GONNA face. Ten Thousand Times and he says what I do is i. just you know, have a nice walk dot, breathe and feel okay. Don't worry I get on top of the shot I. Look at where I'm GonNa next hit it I know I've hit it at ten thousand times. I look at the ball and I. Just say one word execute. And so I love what you're saying about. The Training Training Training and And I know for a lot of listeners. In these times you're overwhelmed. OVERWHELMED WITH! I can train and I'm just trying to make it through the day. I'll tell you another bit of training. That I learned from a friend of mine. His name was Bob. ECKERD he was the CEO of Mattel. And I asked I asked Bob. How do you deal with stress? and. I'll tell a quick story if that's okay, sure absolutely story. So he told me. He said that before he wasn't Mattel and he's left Mattel. Now is an investment company, but he really turned mattel. Ron Big time. And he said before that he was the CEO of Craft in Chicago and when he started at kraft, he was I may president of the cheese division. And in two months time, the dairy prices went up. And so craft, Gary. Prices went up, and then they went down, but it was written into the bylaws of craft that they didn't lower their prices, so the independence lowered the prices when the prices went down, but kraft didn't. And he had no say over that he was just the president of the division. He unwritten all the protocols, and so the newspaper there was all these headlines. Heads are GonNa Roll at craft. It's going to be the end of craft. Because Cheese was a big division biggest. Division. And he told me he said you know. I was just in a funk and staring. Into the TV screen on a Sunday and the. Coach of the Cincinnati Bengals Sam Wash. And taken the Bengals to the Super Bowl two years earlier, they'd lost, but he took him to the Super Bowl. But this year they had lost ten games in a row. And Bob said I'm just staring at the TV. And the report says to. Sam, so Sam. What are you GONNA do. You're going to be fired on Tuesday. What do you think about that? and Bob said it was as if he was speaking to me. Sam Weiss looked out on the television and said. You know what I'm going to be fired. On Tuesday I know I'm going to be fired on Tuesday. Everybody knows I'm going to be fired on Tuesday But, that doesn't matter. What matters is what can I do between Sunday and Tuesday to make the Bengals a better team? So what Bob adapted I think it's a great philosophy to get through stressful times, and he used it to get through rough times at Mattel. Is. He said before he goes to bed. He says to himself, and he writes down. What can I get done? That's different. Than what can I do, but what can I get done by the end of tomorrow? To Make Mattel, a better company. What can I get done by the end of tomorrow to be a better husband to be a better dead? And when you write that down when you train yourself to get into that habit to it for thirty days, it'll become natural. You can go to bed. Easier, you can change it when you wake up in the morning, but again it's one of those trainings. What can I get done? To Make My. To make my team more successful to make me were successful. If I'm looking for a job to be a more effective and looking for a job so right that. That question before you go to bed. Train yourself to do it. And you might be able to get to sleep without having to take some of those magic. His name is Dr Mark Allston. A. By the way I did not know he was going to do this and it was better than I could ever. Swore. WE'RE WE WE? I know we're. GonNa talk about this book real influence. How Will Cam Newton Make the Patriots Better?

"All right bill. We're here today to talk about the New England Patriots and Cam specifically began her. They used to film. The Cincinnati bengals sideline for which they were find over a million dollars mosque third round. Pick well the good news. Is that they've decided to uproot their entire organization and totally chance planet quarterback to bury the latest piece of evidence that there maybe not playing by the rules as everybody else. Bill Barnwell is the host of the podcast. The bill Barnwell show. You just, but there are people on the Internet positing that these events are connected. Of course. We are here today to talk about. The other came Cam Newton the New England. Patriots who could have predicted this? IS GOING TO RELEASE CAM to they're going to wait, and the Patriots are going to get him for nothing and they're going to be good. It's going to be awful in offense. It was impossible up to this point. The idea that the only team in the league that to starting quarterback might possibly make a move for the best available starting quarterback on the free agent market see Telepho-, obvious when you lay it out like that, but here's the thing it's June and according to our Adam Schefter. No other teams exception to the Browns who had some interest put in a call then New England goes out, and they get cam for basically nothing veteran minimum with incentives. How bill how? I think it's a combination of things I mean. Obviously the coronavirus has impacted team's ability to see workouts to administer physicals and Cam Newton of course as a player coming off of a serious injury, eight frank injury to the middle of his foot, which cost him pretty much. The entire two thousand nineteen season for that coming off the shoulder surgery has not been healthy in a while, and so you'd figure in a typical circumstance. He would be easy for teams to kind of see what cam has left, and then make an offer only, but there haven't really been teams able to make the sort of offers that would justify starting quarterback role. And then I think from camps perspective he rightfully would rather be making less money with the opportunity to start for the new, England Patriots say a playoff team from a year ago, then serve as a perhaps higher paid backup in a spot where he's unlikely to play. Knowing how little New England paid for him and looking back at some of the other quarterbacks who got jobs during free agency? Are there any teams that you think would have been wise to jump ahead of new? England and WHY IS IT CHICAGO? I do think that the decision to trade for Nick. Foles a player who realistically has if not Worse Injury History Than Cam Newton certainly a comparable injury history when it comes to his checkered past i. do think that the bears would have been in much better shape. Do Not trae draft pick and to sign Cam Newton for much less money than they're going to give nick foles over the next three years and I think there's a handful of teams that. That even if it happened as a backup, I think teams like the steelers. Of course you've talked about the titans as possible CAM, Newton location and I think absolutely teams like that have a veteran quarterback with a history of injuries and very little behind them in the backup role would have absolutely been smart to making move for Cam Newton, but obviously I think it's the Patriots benefit that the League has been so conservative when it's come to approach again. Let's talk about what we can expect out of canning. Which I realize, you are not a doctor, but the big question mark is you've outlined his health the last time we saw him play. Football was the beginning of the two thousand nineteen season. He only played a couple of games before his season ended due to a foot injury, he incurred during the preseason. What did you see out of Cam the last time he was healthy? The last extended stretch we saw from Cam Newton as a healthy quarterback, was the first half of twenty eighteen, and he was excellent. Newton throws. Fabio Capello Panthers one of the best teams in football at six to newton was tenth and Passer Rating Twelve Qbr and the panthers had guilty scheme that was designed to actually trying to out more quickly and leave some of the hits that candidate taking, and we saw his numbers include accordingly. SNAP TO NEWTON looking left throws it over the Middle Touchdown Greg Olsen. Cam Newton looking like a poster on feats. Assume. Thirty so frequently earlier in his career, they always posted pretty mediocre. Completion percentages in two thousand eighteen across the first half you had a completion percentage of sixty seven point three percent that was one of the best marks in football. He was averaging nearly four touchdowns for every pick producing really two hundred eighty yards per game from scrimmage. He was illegitimate MVP candidate through the first half of twenty eighteen. And then of course, the injuries struck. Labor rotator cuff just to soreness. He had a shoulder injury that led to surgery after two thousand eighteen. And then the foot injury cam stumbles Abu to the nearside. He's in trouble. Hit droplet like. Damn comes off the field limping a little bit maybe. But you tried to play through and was unable to do so.

"Were birder we open with the NFL as the lions with the number three pick in last night's opening round of the NFL draft would select Ohio state quarterback Jeff Okuda a player considered by many the best defensive back in this year's draft meanwhile the Cincinnati Bengals as expected with the first overall pick take LSU quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Joe Boral being picked at number one is something pearl said he didn't think was possible just one year ago when he struggled at times in his junior season with the Tigers are told you you're crazy you know I knew I was going to have a really good season so I knew you know we have really good players come back at great coaches and we were gonna rip work really really hard to do it but to jump up to number one of all is is crazy to me but it's a good it's a dream come true click comes courtesy of ESPN it number to the Washington Redskins take case young which by the way guys brings up a nice bit of trivia borough young at Okuda this year's top three picks in the draft we're all teammates on the two thousand seventeen Ohio State

"The Cincinnati Bengals are on the clock headed to the jungle with the first pick in the twenty twenty NFL Cincinnati Bengals select job last year I said to you you're going to be number one overall what would you say they had the first one comes first they got it done pretty quick from today getting the Pickens standpoint we for for snacks on snacks and watching TV what do you do it last four was jailer Bengals head coach join just our goal to give window so coach I mean you get one ticket and then you're done I mean what do you do the rest of the first round yeah I just went to bed report I don't you know you know we we got them set up with with the whole club you know it's our virtual war room and then you sort of all have their own systems going on some kind of got to dance back and forth and you know is is probably the first time I've ever watched all thirty two picks come in just because they can affect us today with thirty three so even after that last pic you wait the fee and that can be taken so that we can get our board order for today well I appreciate you stayed with us because the rest was did have other work to do last night sacked after the bagels were dug big on the clock coach what what how how serious were offers for borough we know that Miami called once or twice how how how how many offers did come in and how many conversations did you have about moving off the number one what can people just reach out to see if there's any chance and and they quickly learn that they're working on you know we we believe that we're going to take and you know it when you got the number one pick in you believe in the guy you think is gonna change our franchise for the next decade than that somebody's got to stand up for taken so when when people called interest that just further confirms what you thought and they're willing to give up whatever they're gonna give up good to come up and get him and so what we're very happy about it talking is active in the Bengals head coach who virtually picked Joe burrow last night and now virtually has to coach him so this is this is new territory coaching so normally now Joe would be flying in you get your hands on and you get in the playbook and you're meeting face to face and getting him going how do you go about this now when you could have really no contact obviously in person contact what's the process for you going to be yeah yeah you know I've known and shown the cut out go through the install you know all the stuff that we prepared for all the rookies or veterans and then you get a chance to catch the creative because they are going to lose some physical wraps and info for quarterback it's more like Joe in here at the meeting you've done it before okay I got it I got it but really you learn as a rookie okay I don't got it when you break the huddle you're gonna get the defense you occupy scrimmage you realize maybe don't have total ownership of this new quite as hard so we just challenge guys like him to manufacture those reps in your living room your backyard with the tall point huddle you break it you walk the line you can you tell mom more lined up what route to run that with the case there's anybody but you can't and you might not be going to AJ green and Tyler Boyd John Ross but we do have to do our best to make sure we can elaborate and excuses come time for the season you mentioned he's a franchise changer and we know drafting quarterbacks this high means you want them around for the next decade plus leading the charge for you but when it comes to this season a particular knowing those challenges you still got eighty dollars on the roster is Joe burrow coming in as the unquestioned day one starter it's unknown what is Austin's gonna look like and when you take the number one pick you certainly if I click patient forms so we kept all of our options on the table but I keep it handy under contract and you know we'll get through this weekend and make some of those decisions but we certainly expect him to come in and put in the work and then challenge everybody in the building and be ready to play we're talking to coach acceller Bengals head coach last night bangles obviously take Joe burrow with the first pick overall in the draft what kind of communication have you had with Andy Dalton about this at this point okay you ought to talk to him you know you know I have a really good relationship we talked last week and so here stands gonna what's going on right now and again we do have to do what's best for the club you know so obviously we got a call back and we can go out of the name Dalton and so we want to make sure we've we've got all of our options so you know he just kind of playing the waiting game to see what happens next but we had good communication throughout coach each week you're getting borrow your obviously is the number one overall pick but if you look at the situation you guys were in last year in reality you're getting two first round picks on the field this year John Williams you guys took eleventh overall last year missed the entire season and AJ green with a foot injury also comes back so what when you're talking about the Bengals when we see him on the field in twenty twenty it really isn't just about a first round pick it's really two first round picks that should get together for the first time in a dynamic playmaking wide receiver that has a pretty good history in this league how does that in your mind change what people should be thinking about expectations for the Bengals I don't spend too much time warned about what other people's expectations are because we have our own but we did have six players on defense in free agency with the knowledge that Hey we we really just added a number one receiver in free agency that we did get a chance to coach last year we get a first round that we really get to first round picks were gonna get a quarterback or getting a left tackle I didn't play force last year so there are kind of those hidden hidden moves that we had due to injuries last year so we do get some reinforcements Conan but again we got put in the work you know it's it's one thing for me to sit here and say okay we got these two great players come back but we don't find a way to get to work and increase their chemistry and camaraderie amongst the team world number means anything once you coach what you knew you had the the number one pick how long did it take in in either seeing or talking to Joe burrow before you knew that he was going to be your pick from matter what we I think we made the decision a couple weeks ago just because we didn't want to rush into it but there's certain moments of over the course of last couple months either it when you watch him play a particular game or you just give a chance to visit with them or you thought okay this guy this guy really fits the thirtieth division we make we're gonna be happy with it but yeah we wanted to make sure that we we vetted everybody will make it right franchise and within the last couple weeks became very clear that that he was gonna mantech and so no brainer for that when you go first overall which also means that in this new drafting set up you guys don't have to worry all that much about the potential pitfalls of the situation was social distancing in technology now you guys have a pick in every round going forward here so how well well are you feeling about the situation now with your technology and the set up and what happens going forward when it becomes a little less cut and dry yeah very good you know we we've been operating this way for the last month really three zero men to phone calls and so we thought we were really well equipped for it these are very good nice job last night when they're on the clock we got a new one here coming out because again the day starts with us and then whatever communication here in the third round but so far it's been really good we we got a staff is very flexible and can adapt to a lot of things and so I think it's going really smoothly and it'll be exciting to see these pics were given the name goes head coach Zach Taylor coach we really appreciate your time I know it's super busy before we let you go you want to go and tell us you're picking up a second round of snow well I'm not ready yet you can't put in the effort to implement a just like a moment of silence there I'm hoping that moment of silence was you were thinking about telling us do they really think I'm going to tell about it right now thanks coach really preaches a coach this is why I distance myself from these people so much because I don't want I don't want to be with these guys I just tell you that right now where do I go to Europe but when I did drive it to work I enjoyed listening to it so keep up the good work thanks I appreciate it eight straight shooter shoot right like I mean you can't blame I mean unless you want to trade up for and how he could have just told us right while working right I can't tell you he was a he was very disappointed when a certain play came off the board last night the first round because I know that they had really love that kid Jordan Brooks linebacker out of Texas tech that went toward right with the overall very I mean those that was one of the players he had specifically mentioned that he had been working with at that that the senior bowl because the Bengals worked at senior bowl which gave them a huge advantage obviously employers and that was that was a player they were hoping wouldn't be would be taken in the first round so they're gonna have to go redo some things out they underestimated the power in overall weirdness of the Seattle Seahawks never yes players in the draft yeah well the good news is that they have all day to get it right and then they'll still start the clock it's the most anything you just make the pick when we start the project right great work last night as always we appreciate you coming on with us my friend have a look at the good luck have fun over the course of the rest of the weekend thanks guys and I promise to get the words Michael a junior in tonight's broadcast yeah Hey you want to give us a quick preview what's the suit tonight it's gonna be a little crazy I'm not gonna lie this boulder this is bolder than than last nights and I was like all right we're going to do this I guess all man I am wow that is nice he's a broadcast of the suit junior that mate that's made out of your shoes or wow you know what you want in the in the parlance "No problem I am for the Cincinnati Bengals okay so you play for the Cincinnati Bengals if I'm not mistaken obviously this is a bagels would love to have a job or let me ask you this and in those let's put your Bengal Kappa side do you think then Joe burrow would be best served playing for the Cincinnati Bengals that's a tough question I say I've said this a thousand times man I Carson is probably one of the best quarterbacks ever play am I think highly of Carson so yeah of course and couldn't get Cincinnati over home I don't know who can now what I will say is I don't know burl that well I'll get the norm here soon on but the people I've talked to that known very well says his confidence is through the roof and he's looking at it like Cincinnati is at the bottom there in the basement if if I can change this culture we start winning well how is that going to elevate me and I and I believe that's how he's looking at it as a huge challenge to see if I can turn this around now it's very very early in the process his dad was just saying the right thing who knows if things change but I'm just a firm believer that I just think highly of Carson is no knock on Joe Carson won the best quarterbacks ever play but when you say who the best quarterbacks you knock off a Carson Palmer you're not in the and you know in in in the know which obviously you are when we talk about a guy like Carson Palmer here's what anyone will tell you about Carson Palmer there's never been a quarterback in this league who can make every throw like Carson Palmer I'll say what what does that even mean every throw Hutch fade out there was not a pass the Carson Palmer could not throw in this is rarefied air inlet you're really a technical guy you may not even grass what that means but again who knows what would happen if he had not suffered the the injury in the playoff game maybe would have been different for you and the bangles and Carson Palmer here here's the thing about Joe Berle though as I still think this is a guy that a year ago three sixteen touchdown passes and this jury through sixty by the way are I wanted to also ask you are you stunned the Joe Brady's gone money talks I I thought it was you only given the money they did he signed an extension what it to Carolina here on two million very very I'm assuming they have to have double the salary because L. issued damn near triple they pretty much tripled the salary right and so she probably enjoys the NFL coaching better in college because it was college is a lot of some of the season and you're out on the road recruiting it's not a lot of down time probably door both being with the same and what LA she we probably realize like man well he's never going to be hotter than it is right now obviously yeah he he what he did is just brought a more dynamic offense fell issue what is not like he brought plays that nobody's ever run before he had a quarterback executed he had receivers that could get open and it was just all it was a perfect storm all right do you think that there's a possibility as the process moves along the Joe Berle might pull any line manning he makes it clear that I do not want to be with the Cincinnati Bengals find a way to trade me out I believe everything is a possibility but again if like I say the people that I know that no on he did his confidence man and I think they can't be understated that he just truly believes in himself and he's Ohio kid he could be a possibility says I don't want to play here because of the pass or he looks at it and says is the challenge and if I can turn this around then I can probably go down in history because of the dirt how many teams have been consistently arm the biggest I wanna play a game in thirty years I will probably the Browns are lower what is he looks at it as a challenge if that remains the case but yeah he could pour the lye man he can pull it Johnny away and say I'm not going early in the process let a couple months go by and see what happens by the way quick note on Joe Berle he's one month older than Lamar Jackson the twenty nineteen Heisman Trophy winner is one month older than the twenty sixteen Heisman Trophy winner wow okay all right so I did I'm is it was a twenty seventy twenty sixteen twenty sixteen twenty six sixteen twenty six C. R. has maker may feel was twenty seventeen it's just a little just a no doubt there by the way you know brought that up today John Harbaugh in defense again John Harbaugh's been on the defensive like all week long about Lamar Jackson that's what I guys last three regular season games and he's into in the a post season what do we have your Gavin this is coach at the Ellis.

"Couldn't. My whole family real warm. But except for me. Just couldn't do it. So in William would come home from Oakland. He'd tried in the house with his with his raiders outfit on. And you said, what I said to highway of the man in black. About some of the old days of the NFL, what, what's a great story that still sticks out in your mind? Well, I guess one of the great stories is how we. Played one one of the coldest game in the history of the NFL when Cincinnati Bengals attended charges played in Cincinnati minus fifty eight degrees chill factor, I was there rather, and I was cold, right? Along with you. Oh, yes. And that probably shook us up because we had excellent football team. And we just couldn't put it together that day because of the weather it, actually they should've called the game. But, you know, one thing about the NFL the only thing to get you off to football field is lightning. Otherwise pretty much you're going to play the game. So there was a there was one incident that we were in the huddle. Try to stay warm and Pete show is sitting in the middle of the huddle, and we 'cause we use the whole hands and everybody was holding hands and shaking at the same time because we couldn't get we couldn't get warm out there. So we were trying to get off the field as quick as we can as we could get back to the bench and back into the heaters. So we can stay warm, but you know what are those things.

"But right now, we are going out to Fort Collins, Colorado were welcoming in one of my favorite Bengals arguably the greatest player in Bengal history to have never started a game. Touchdown Tony Davis. How the heck are you? You're good. Check. Our you man, fantastic. And Tony six years in the National Football League three with the Bengals. And you came in you were taught between Paul Brown and Forrest Gregg which Bill Johnson and Palmer rice and Bill Walsh, hit just laughed. The Cincinnati Bengals when you arrived via trade, and you left the Bengals via trade. So what kind of a turbulent kind of a weird? Man, just just that era. Right. There was was different. Well that that was Cincinnati Bengals. Just kind of the way things work for a period of time. What's what's coach Brown stepped down? And tiger took over you know, I was just coming out of the Brassica. Frankly. Coach was nothing. It was I had the nicotine and make myself some way. So that. I could do what I wanted to do my whole life, which is playing the NFL bruising five eleven two hundred twelve pound running back, but punt returner, you you did what Jim Anderson calls windows, you did everything including the windows to win a job on the team. Well, yeah. In seventy six I'm pretty sure. Rookies made that tape. On that team drafted ahead of me was Archie Griffin. Yes. Willie Shelby running backs. All three of us ended up making that making a squad that did that year. And there was obviously there's a great deal of talent. I go back. These guys. Favors stunning to me. Curtis. Ken Riley Lamar perish. He's he's a hall of fame players that just got no consideration. You're you're exactly right. And I remember. Gosh, Tommy Cazenove telling me about leap and Lamar Paul Brown stood on the sidelines in awe of his talent. No doubt. Stunning lockdown corner before they were lockout. Yes. And he would just. It was a lot of things we could do that. Yeah. Leaping was special. He he really was Tony Davis is our guest from Fort Collins, Colorado. I told all the listeners I've got it bad for the debris ASCA Cornhuskers. Because there's been a whole bunch of I'm here with the Cincinnati Bengals real. Well, we we we've had some pretty good football teams over the years. Raskin. Seventy three four and five years. We lost four games. So. That that's that's stuff that paper to go on. And we're pretty good football team. Did the same way. Michigan. Over Southern Cal Alabama. Rather table of people and. We're pretty good football fourth round draft pick. Tony Davis one thousand nine hundred seventy six up. Hey, a rushing touchdown in seventy six thirty six carries. A buck. Seventy eight four point nine yards a carry in a sixteen yard long gain. And then a couple more touchdowns in seventy seven man. What do you remember about those touchdowns? You you. Very impressive statistic. Yes. Pick him. Why didn't they give me the Cold War? The average like four point nine yards a carry. I know his knees. Probably went in the you know on the astroturf that was brutal. But you you're right. There was a bunch of talent on those teams. Liberal Elliott was was exceptional running back. Recipe. So good good, man. And and Libya was exceptional. Artsy was acceptable. What I do. And I had to do. I protect your quarterback so blessed and could catch all the backfield. Walkout short yard stuff. Roll sandwich did return punts. My second year. Basically because. Checks the ball. Yeah. Williams having trouble catching the ball. So tiger or put your back apartment Curtis. It. Okay. I just got to the wall. So I did. Is the longest punt return bagels history, maybe some yards, but I got caught a one yard line. Well in the city. Yeah. Well, and I'm looking at tied for the single game club lead with seven punt returns against the New York. Football giants on November twenty seventh nineteen seventy seven seven hundred returns in a blizzard in a blizzard. On Monday night football. No kidding, man. I should remember that. And I don't Tony tag on it. But. You're you're much younger than I am the chick. You are you sixty five sixty five five in the chicks turns sixty five in July. So we're like contemporaries, but yet you came. Yeah. Let me just say I. Mike. Two of my boys have one in Kentucky or across the river is the other crisis. Cincinnati. Bye, mike. My kids back forum. Yes. And we've got. Marvin took care of we've got your game before. However, Jay's Jake route Jonathan as Jake. Where were these guys? Boys. The players and stuff. And of course, you know, by by youngest play with the jets for a couple of years. So he's got this by over said. I got very successful children, which makes me very happy. You know, what your children do? Well, but but Rowan back. Kids. Why did you move from here? Beautiful area. There's love to step along the river. And I took a different place. Jacques Brel friend Marvin Cobb still lives there. Lot the players that played with such love for that area. Of the fans and and and over teammates. And and I don't get back there outlets problem. Beautiful great stuff there. Tony, and you arrived via trade with Kansas City Chiefs. And then they trade the Bengals traded you to Tampa Bay. So. Jeff. Bengals was from Kansas City. I didn't know that. Listen to the story about the draft bacteria. They didn't it wasn't on television. Right. And so I kind of figured out about when be Jukka thoughts. "We love Stephen a Smith audio. I take on ESPN aka the mothership with max million Maximilian Keller mini. Yeah. Anyway, he goes off on the coach for the Cincinnati Bengals. I don't think the Cincinnati Bengals have won a playoff game in fifteen years. Seems like a long time. Let me let me Google Cincinnati Bengals playoff history. Wow. Seniors or Twenty-eight. No the last playoff victory last playoff victory came against the Houston Oilers in nineteen ninety the wildcard game. Actually, it was the nineteen ninety one. The nineteen ninety playoff. So it was early early nineteen twenty. Seven years. I twenty seven years that seems like a drought a long time a little bit. Let's get into this year. Yes. And Marvin Lewis hasn't won one single day of playoff game. What are you saying to your citizens in Cincinnati? What are you saying? How do you live with yourself? I don't notice man I have nothing personal against him. How do you live with yourself? I did not say the man does not know football. I did not say the man doesn't deserve to be coaching. I did not say those things I'm talking about strictly as it pertains to the franchise that is the Cincinnati Bengals. How do you live with yourself? Stephen a Smith eye. Doctor Conway here three fifty eight over to ninety eight that's his blood pressure. I love to get of those blood pressure machines at CVS after one of these deals during during actually that's not a bad idea. You know, how ESPN always has the bottom line or the little tracker. It could be as ticker tracker. How do you live with self? I don't know there's an ATM handing out hundred dollar bills instead of twenties. And what is the basic nature of everybody to call Bank American reported, right? No the lineup and try to get as much free money as you can do this morning. Get a load of this an ATM at a Bank of America, north Harris County has been temporarily shut down. That's because people say it was giving out one hundred dollar bills overnight merry Christmas. I got a tip saying the ATM was giving out those one hundred dollar bills instead of twenties. How do you live just self in a post on social media was he get in there? How do you live with yourself? Hey, you know, what happens? I think at an ATM's. I'm not an ATM expert. But I think there's there's places where the twenty s go and then the hundreds go and the guy put the twenties where the hundred Chicago and one hundred the twenty Chicago. And so somebody's gonna have to pay for that. Because that's a mistake on the armored cars fault. But here's something tricky. Bank America has records not only video electronic records of everybody who took that money. Everybody. Does exactly what I was thinking. They're going to call them and go. Hey, listen, you withdrew two hundred dollars and you got away with two thousand dollars. Yeah. I one time I went to the Bank and the Bank teller gave me an extra hundred. And I was like, no, no, you gave me too much because I knew in the long run they were going to realize that and just charge me. Oh.

"Speaking of thankful, John we may need to reach for this one. But let's talk a little bit about what we are thankful for with the Cincinnati Bengals not going to be easy. I almost wish if we're talking about this segment. I almost wish that the Bengals may be started off one in four. And now they rattled off. They went for one. And that's now they're five five that we would be a little more positive, maybe at this point. But. Put you on the spot, buddy. I'm gonna let you go first. And it could be something. Hey, I'll even allow cynicism year if you'd like with your with your grateful, whatever you're grateful for with the Bengals. But seeing as how it's thanksgiving. I thought that it would be appropriate that we talk about something we're thankful for with the with the Cincinnati Bengals in twenty eight. All right, always thankful for the helmets. Never change. It hasn't changed in my lifetime. So forever grateful for that always thankful. People who know me know me as like more of a pivoting more towards player phantom than team phantom in team allegiance. And what when it comes to just how players just kinda act in compose themselves as players representations of the league. I don't care if they're divas. I don't care if they're upstanding citizens. I think they deserve to be whoever they kind of want to be. But I am grateful that the the Bengals of at least my adolescents in in in teenage years in now down twenty two years old appreciative of that for the most part, they're pretty upstanding guys in the pretty well. Composed. And they just kind of even though you know, we we like to dog on some of them for the most part. I think that for the most part under Marvin Lewis, he's put together a team of pretty solid human beings for the most part. You know, guys like any dawn aged green, Gino Atkins. Carl Michael Johnson. Just guys that really easy to root for and they don't really make a fool themselves. You know, what went when some other teams do? So again, I I don't hate guys like go to Beckham or other guys like that who kind of appear in the media too soon because I understand that there's a lot more context than I think a lot of people miss when they look at players in their social media interactions whatnot. The Bengals, you know, even if they are stuck in their ways, and they're no consistently mediocre. They kind of always bring me back because I it's easy. The like the players on the team just from the way that they are as athletes in how they kind of just help out in the community, but just how they carry themselves. I think they're they they always have a team that's really easy to root for kind of guys who stories that you always enjoying the follow. And honestly, just listening talk a little bit cheesy one ever. But I just think that's always something that I'm appreciative unthankful for even if we won a roster every single year is just guys. That I believe are really easy to root for really no player that you can look up to. I guess that's a good one. I like that one. You know, I'm going I'm going to say a couple of things here in the I agree with you, John. I agree that, you know, there are the Carlos dunlap's Gino Atkins sky's. The Michael Johnson's who are always knowledge for the Walter Payton man of the year. You know, there are a lot of good guys on this roster. Which is you know, cool to see I mean, even a guy Draper Patrick. He's he's visiting senior senior homes.

"It was awesome. I mean, these fans. I mean, it really is specially every time I come out here. It's just like a new wo- moment for me. I mean it, it's, it's up in that you can't even explain words. But I mean, I just love the support that we have from this community. Patrick Mahomes live right here on six, ten sports radio after the forty five, ten domination over the Cincinnati Bengals. I don't know what his answer is going to be to the question, but I kinda liked it. Is this the most fun? You've had playing quarterback? What's he gonna? Say? No, no. I mean, come on your six and one of the National Football League, and you're shattering every the every young quarterback record the book has if you throw this game out the window and still talk about the beginning of the season, and a lot of chiefs fans will tell you how poor the defenses played. Think about that and remembered that he had a much worse defense in college, like he was playing these type of games in college and losing most of them because the defense was that badly scoring into the forties and fifties and losing week after week after week. So this defense that's playing pretty well. And did tonight big upgrade if. Hey, Todd, hanging onto, we appreciate a top. Thanks so much for hanging. We we're gonna give you the floor. Okay. My name is had a tag. I got a couple of questions. What about storms when he get when he gets back and healthy, is he going to be thrown back in? And I was at a pet Mahomes in. I've liked Alex Smith and everything, but Mahomes is for being so young. He's so mature and just he's thinking of four by storm. He has absolutely. And there's nothing wrong with being an Alex Smith fan and now realizing you can also be pet Mahomes fan. It's totally cool. Ted, don't worry. There are many that are like you, but you guys, he s I about Sorenson if and when he's cleared to play right back in, there's a case to.

"I think it'll be a score twenty to ten. So again, I see a little. We're scoring game. Thirty. Total points is definitely on the will end of the spectrum. I agree. I think Dion Lou. I think this is a DR Lewis game. I think it's the bills can cover down the field. He's due for a big game. So I see Dion Lewis getting some carries see him. Do. Getting five or six catches in the short passing game to help mariota to move the chains. And ultimately, I just don't think buffalo poses enough of a threat to win this game, but we're things have happened. Right? So. Very weird things. So the third game that we will get to. We have the Cincinnati Bengals, the upstart Cincinnati, Bengals sitting three and one there. They will be hosting the Miami Dolphins. Yeah. I mean, no one expected bingles three in one of this point. Right. Fair enough. So Andy, Dalton and the Bengals they've been playing well, they had that thrilling last-second win against the falcons last week. You don't expect them to carry that momentum over as you have picked Miami in an upset to go to Cincinnati, win, seventeen, fourteen. Yes. Eighteen just based off. They, there are three now going to New England. They got blown out, and I think it's put up a shot up time and they're gonna. They're gonna put up. So you got Tanna hill edging out, Dalton here in a low scoring game, you'd think the defenses. It'll be a struggle on for offenses in this game, you're going to be loud turnovers. Okay, fair enough. Cincinnati, gets Fontes, Burr, fict- back. Do you think that's a boost for them of changes it as a boost bingles right now are one of the worst defenses in the NFL so they can. They need the help? Yeah. The defense granted. One of the reasons I put as low scoring game is perfect coming back. Gotcha. Gotcha. I disagree with you here. So this is our first game. I'm here. This is the first game where we differed on our picks have Cincinnati at home twenty four to twenty winning over Ryan tannehill Adam gays and the Miami Dolphins. I do expect Kenyan Drake to be a little bit more relevance game after only seeing a handful of carries the last two games which was weird. Exhibiting Howard is a really good corner for the dolphins. So AJ green, my have a tough day or at least a tougher day the nor the knee did in weeks past. But I do like the other weapons at Cincinnati has Tara Boyd, John Ross, and Joe mixon should becoming back. So a boost for Cincinnati with not just easier for the finish podcast today as well. Would you treat you'll mixing or would you keep Joe mixon. Depends on the trade. Of course. No put untradable unless it was a big offer. Well, I have a trade for you because I've been hearing about some trades that people are trained for Nixon. I'll tell you about it in the Finnish football podcast, but I'm just saying there is a trade coming about it and you can catch that podcast later on today. We will have that one right up for you after this. So I have Cincinnati, twenty four twenty and we will be moving on to the next game on the sleet. And that is your Baltimore Ravens. They will be heading to to face Baker Mayfield in the Cleveland Browns Cleveland had a Cleveland like loss last week or they couldn't close out the game loss. That makes sense. Yeah. You know, the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore. Ravens came out this week and said, big Baker Mayfield was our was the next farve slash Elway mature. Do you agree with that assessment though? Do you see farther Elway when you see Baker. Like the style of play. It's the gunslinger look. I can see what I see more farther than Elway. He's a risky thrower and all that stuff. But that's not compared with two hall of fame court. SuperBowl winning quarterbacks is first couple of games please. Can we not put that much pressure on the kid the all time interceptions leader Brett farve, and he used to be the temptations leader. So one of the greatest Rex Volta he's fine, fine. He's, he's good. No, no. Why do you think because of his interceptions he's the quarter. I don't wanna get too for topic. Brett Farr is one of the more overrated quarterbacks in NFL history. Not that he's not good. That doesn't mean you are not good said, don't get all upset..

"He won't be a team starts. Yeah. That Ryan Fitzpatrick that shoot up with the test of years ago. I think those guys that I that that's a thing I would think. Yeah. Let's go on to the last one PM matchup we've got the returning edgy luck and the colts tuned a half point favorites over Cincinnati. The only reason why I can see the colts being favored at all in his matchup is because of how much of a screw up the Cincinnati Bengals are as a as an organization as a whole. Because let's be clear. Like Ed reluctance nut look, good, the preseason. He hasn't shown any controlled the ball. He hasn't shown much of anything that makes that much of a viable asset over Jacobin percent and to Kobe percent is a replacement level. The problem is was luck is that we haven't seen anything to justify people automatically pencilling in the colts as a team that can win the AFC south, which is what people are doing right now as a dark horse candidate. If. The Jaguar slip up at all that the the cold skin win the AFC south and I'm like, give, can we pump the brakes here folks because I need to see something out of. The colts here because I'm not, you know, I'm not signing off on his like, I'll take the Bengals as another dog here only because of the fact that you know. I team much out of goals and the colts defense is one of the worst in the league, less semi, Jack Cincinnati still had AJ green. I look at this one of those games where it's probably gonna come down to a field goal. I'll take the chance on Cincinnati winning. One of the problems I have with that is that he's talking about the defense. Didn't do much of mine. Yeah. I mean, that's one almost got killed, you know? And he's coming back to the almost the scene lying. You know, and I give them talking about the goals and. Luck is back. I'm what whatever, but. He's in the same position before and he couldn't keep them empty. And he is that gonna end you quarterback to begin with, you know? 'cause he's a big guy on these. He likes to think it's any..
