"On your favorite APP now here's Andy. Off. Speaking of Tiger Woods man. Oh, man, the event that took place last week Mike. With Phil Tiger Payton and Tom. I mean it was. It was called the Tom Brady. That'd be that good at something wasn't quite as. was was yeah and. It was fun to see him. Get the ribbing from Barkley from time to time. When us, you know putting the third hole tee shot on on the seven on seven fairway and hooking it and you know. But it was good television. Look at. The ratings speak for lots of rate. What what it was, and it was I think it was the most viewed sporting event. Obviously through the Kelvin! Through this covid nineteen era, but People pay attention to it and I believe I think it'd be. Part of that was personalities I mean Payton Manning. Say What you want about. You know maybe about him in some negative way which? Is Just boggles my mind people that want to do that, but I mean. He's good pay good television. He's. He's cracking jokes. He's making fun of people and and everything Phil Phil. Just he's a trash talker and in a situation like that. It's. It's fun to watch and. You know it was. It was just one of those things where actually I had to go back and kind of at it. From the standpoint of it being being entertainment in not taking it so seriously. Yeah, I mean look at a few different angles that I KINDA WANNA go down here first and foremost. peyton manning is a character. Fade. Manning is extremely likable. peyton manning is charismatic. Peyton manning knows what to say when to say it how to say he's flat out made for TV flat out that's. One hundred percent opinion on paid manning Tom Brady like like I'm saying it was kind of cool to see this guy who is so good at obviously dissecting people on a football field and make them look foolish. And nobody can ever take that away from him, but it was also really cool in the sense to see that this guy. Struggled on the golf course and you know for a while. He was kind of extremely quiet and he was. You know not not this this big star, and then all of a sudden. You're right Chucky Brown chucky Varga he decides to. Give them the business and start telling him. Hey, I want peace you. I think I could beat you. How many strokes you want! You know that kind of thing and then Bam Tom Brady, nells a shot from one hundred yards out and. All of a sudden he he's got character. He's got poise. He's got charisma and all of a sudden. It becomes part of the show. And it was cool. I mean it was really cool, and then went back. He reverted back to his old self a little bit here and there and every now, and then he'd pull a shot out of this. You know what and Hey, it was cool, and then you had you had phil who's out there and this guy is like literally giving Tom Brady a lesson on every single shot, and like telling them all the different. Aspects of the golf course I, you see. There's a little bit more green here and it's this and it's a little bit lighter here. You're buzzed. GonNa skid off of this if you do that. And he was just so like it was like he was giving this guy a four five hour lesson out there on the golf course and he was truly like enjoying it, which was pretty cool. The see I'm not the huge, not the hugest Phil Mickelson Guy, so it was kind of cool the sense to see Phil. Just be one of the guys and like actually trying to help somebody out, and then there's tiger who? The, Guy was all business man I'm sorry, but he was out there, and he was trying to to win this thing for sure and obviously I don't think anybody goes out there trying to lose, but tiger wasn't a lot of commentary and a lot of talk and small talk tigers share. You had a little bit of banter with the announcers in him and you. They brought Bill Murray into the equation a little bit and. Try to make things. Funny with that a couple of weeks ago and you know this. This is one of those things where I think it hit so many different people. You had Barclay. Who is a basketball guy. You know you have paid manning and Tom. Brady who are football guys you? You have tiger and Phil there the Gulf guys I think what you do. Is You brought a bunch of different types of people together and quite frankly man. It. It's perfect for what what's going on right now. I mean you got to bring people together. Somehow someway I I've always said this. Mike Sports and music. Those are two ways where you can really bring people together. And for a few hours last weekend when we got away from what was going on the devastation, the mayhem, the destruction everything that's going on in this country right now. We're able to get away from that for a few hours with those guys, so that's why I'm saying I mean it goes back to my whole point of when we were talking to John I absolutely think sports would. Would make a definite packed, and it would change the dynamic of what's going on a little bit I'm not saying it's GonNa. Totally change. Thing and everybody's GonNa. Just stay home and we're going to be all. It's going to be all good I'm not saying that, but I. do think that if you have the diversion if you have the distraction of something that's positive and good going on. It can only help man. It can only help..

"Let's welcome in the longtime head. Coach of Ole Miss Course was head coach for year. At natty he played at. NC State and Alabama Birmingham at UAB. And now you see him on the SEC network and working for the folks of the SPN. He's Aka Andy Kennedy. How are you? What's up dog How what is is it like to be a guy who has been in locker rooms as a player coach for your entire professional life? Now you've been through a season at least of being An analyst commentator. What what's that like for you well? It's completely different. Obviously Less pressure but honestly left reward. I enjoy it. It's been great for me. The year away last year with the coach for twenty three years so to to step out of that lifestyle. which is you know is all consuming and to look at it? From a different perspective. Perspective was very very helpful for me on a professional as well as a personal basis. Now going into year two. I have a much better understanding of what happens on this side of the camera. I E television vision. I'm still you know watching and learning and growing and seeing a lot of different things That I'm exposed to from the TV aspect aspect and Again I it's been good for my growth on a number of fronts. I let's let's go back. I remember reading the book about NC state date and reading about reading about you. What was it like to what? What are your memories of playing for Jimmy V.? Well I remember that book that was that book was like I. Ah a lot of books One percent fact ninety nine percent fiction a up but I remember this guy more than anything else else Doug. He was so far ahead of his time. Meaning he was one of the first coaches that actually took Being a basketball football coach and turned it into an enterprise He was if you remember in the time that I was there which was eighty six eighty seven. He was not only the head basketball coach but he was the athletic director. He had his own company. He was one of the first. It really started commercializing. The whole business of coaching. So all of the coaches out there today or making a lot of money Doing this when this thing called coaching A lot of respect goes back to Jimmy V.. Because was he was one of the pioneers at making that happen. What was he like to play for those legs a coach he was very emotional? very intense Not Overly detailed as it related to XS and OS. There's really more in in finding the right buttons to push emotionally to get his guys to play. I was a part won the championship and eighty drake. I got eighty six eighty seven and we won the ACC tournament that year Team with Vinny del Negro you know. Well Charles shocker. I got him at a tourist guy ended up playing a number of years in the NBA. Chucky Brown was a good friends so we had a really good team. He was a guy again. That's my first year going into two big time basketball on the collegiate level It was an eye opening experience. I mean your best Shackelford Story. You know what there's a number of them I think I think the one that stood out I remember i. I think it was after I was gone because it was you know some. Some scandal followed a few years later. I WANNA sing. Maybe sixty minutes or somebody big time was doing a story on him and Story on the program and they interviewed shack and you know he had the ability to score over both shoulders right and left and he had a really good. It was about six eleven extremely along. He was really good with his left hand. He said one time Yemen. I can go left or right. I'm I'm amphibious here. Do you remember that. Of course uh-huh and then you'll hear the play in a number of years in the NBA. Had A good run. Okay so then you leave you go to UAB and you play for J. Bartle Gene Gene. Bartow what was what was he. Talking about polar opposites. You know. I've been really fortunate. Excellent from Jim Valvano two gene borrow to Bob Huggins. All three hall of famers in all three are polar opposites in their approach and the way in which they conduct their business but all three have been very successful. It just shows you. There's a lot of different ways to do it. So let Jimmy V. I go in and play for coach bartels who is a hall of Famer did an an incredible job it every really every place he went. You know people forget he was the guy that came after wouldn't it. UCLA which was a thankless task took a memphis to the final four and then he he came in and built a UAB program from scratch and had unprecedented success early on in in in the building of a program go. Sparta was different. You you know he was He was equally as intense but he just went about the different way. He could see the game as good as any coach. I've ever been around. You know back in those days because she just didn't have as much access to information You weren't overloaded with analytics. You weren't overloaded with a lot of tape and a Lotta I mean you you play for Eddie Sutton you probably are. It was probably very similar. But those guys man they could really see the game he would sit there throughout the course with game and could make adjustments as good as anybody. I've ever been around so you get done and then you played overseas in Greece. I know you played I was I was. I was really Charlotte. Hornets briefly then. I bounced around abroad. I played. Let's let's get on the horn two year. They're they have PUKA PUKA in some of this. He was gone. Dell Curry. was there. Rex Chapman Muggsy bogues VEDIC was right before the grandma Alonzo mourning run gene. littles was the coach there through pre season. They signed a guy they picked a guy you. You'll remember this guy because your basketball Jones Kevin Lynch remember him about six white guy from Minnesota. I picking the second round and he did not show up for camp. Was You know holding out. Whatever trying to get a can't contract back in those days guys didn't get guaranteed contracts and so I went those some pre-season stuff and he ended up signing him? I get released and And then when immediately to Greece. How funny is this? You know. Now you'd pay thousands of dollars to go to Greece and tour the Parthenon and walk around downtown Athens well. That was my offers job abroad. That was my reality. I I literally would would go by the Parthenon every day on my way to practice and didn't appreciate it one bit And I was there right after the Persian Gulf War it was not a great time to be an American that Greece at Went from there bounced around Holland. Played in Spain was was it the Superior League in Puerto Rico told my ride. ACL which at the time was my fifth. I've had six but at the time. It was my fifth knee surgery and it caused me to lose. I just I. I couldn't afford to lose which pushed me into a different location. I see so you decided to go into coaching. What was that? What was that like to like? Everybody dreams a plan. You're so close to making the NBA. And you know playing in your plan in Greece in Spain. You're still kind of a phone call away. How did you go through the process of getting into coaching well? I just reached out to a lot of people that note. Along the way you know back to coach Bart. Oh God rest his soul he. He was not very helpful. Well he he was he was very dissuasive. He did not want me to get into coach and he just thought it was a hard to make a living and he He wasn't very helpful. Initially and then. When my stubbornness this prevailed he finally he had a great line? He said you know when he knew that I was going to get into coaching and he made a couple of calls for me to help me on my first job was at South Alabama for Ronnie Arrow That was the first job that I had. And they. You know that that was when being South Alabama League back in the old days the old sun belt with Old Dominion NBC. You in South Florida at Western Kentucky. It was the original Sunbelt well he coached Bartolo once told me and he said You know coaching this. This coach and businesses a hell of a way to make limited at one for those games and he's never any never any never been truer Embarked into coaching twenty three a years and he was right. So it's a it's a great business. If it wasn't for those games those games seem to amplify they do. But that's the fun part right. That's the part that you're you're missing right the agony of defeat and I'm sure you've experienced it's like look I've I've never coach in college of coach other Games but every year I sit down courtside and you miss being in the losing locker room as much as the winning locker right like even the even the man that's got that's gotTa suck that plane ride home but the idea of coaching staff trying to figure out the solution to these problems right and and even you know the things they say about. I hate that guy. I don't like that kid. You know the guys that turn them off tournament. Whatever like those parts and the winning? The winning is is so exhilarating. I believe that any coach like yourself that things do. I WanNa do this long term if they sit courtside if you're in a studio it's Kinda stale you know it's it's like watching from a blimp. It's not the same thing but if you sit courtside there's no way no way you don't want want back in I let's go to okay. You're at south tally. Bama fresh out a plan right. It's in Mobile Alabama your coaching under Ronnie Arrow. What do you remember about? It was really strange. I let's see how about this. So so this was back in the days when South Alabama when you remember school used to be on the quarter system eating they started really late so I get hurt in the summer Superior League in Puerto Rico. which was an experience in and of itself? But I come back. Excuse me I come back and I- Delve into coaching I walked into a situation where co-chair was a bit on the hot seat. I didn't know it was scalding. We start off one in three and he got fired. So I'm four games into my initial initial poison. The coaching Another guy who was new on the staff main JT product. Who would who had been under Paul Westhead at Loyola Marymount and we were trying to implement this loyal marymount pace of play? which sounds great? If you've got both kimball and and and Hank gathers but it didn't work so good and low bill. We were scoring a bunch of points given up more throwing the ball all over the gym so jt became the interim head coach I stayed there. Throughout the course of is the season they ended up hiring the late. Great Bill Muscleman and I'll work for coach muscle but for a few weeks prior to Having the opportunity to come back to alma mater coach Bartoli had retired as the head coach. Murray borrow his son was given the job. Coach was gene was still the athletic director and I came back back in and worked for Murray well. That's that's crazy. I didn't remember that. Yeah I remember that Ronnie Arrow got fired and then you know because he he went now. He's now he's back there right now. He's back at South Alabama. No N- again. But he. He was the only guy and it was the same idea. It was Joe God. premark mark got Coach Godfrey was the athletic director who dismissed him and then he brought him back some years later so I don't know if that's ever happened. Four Ronnie a great success at South Alabama but we started off one in three. I'll never forget Get wacked. JT coaches the rest of the year. We were very the average at best and I was fortunate enough to have an opportunity to come back to be here for murder. Mama Mama that that is. That is kind of amazing with hellofresh. "For whatever reason he's out say a guy about me i don't know what it is but it is buying like i can't control that he can bring him but the tribute up when i was the one the shut the tribute down so i mean i'm far pass that on the lakers trying to figure out how to help this team win and for the things that happened the day happing in media dejected is is on call not this should have made that escalate hockey did but he already had his agenda written down right when i checked in a game it was obvious doug i mean is this just child's play 'cause that's what it looks like to me or do you think this is a legitimate beefs between these two this is a region rondo one on one and it down rondo is a bitter dude rejoin rondo is the guys is like filling the boyne uh rondo is instigating something with icao the embarrassing part is the fact that isaiah thomas got thrown out of the game like yeah what game are you watching i understand if you're if issues like hey these to have beef that we had no time for it with you go back and you watch it was all instigated by region rondo like he was trying to get under isaiah thomas the skin and to isaiah thomas is credit he didn't take the bait he wasn't thrown bows right he jali was simply trying to do is run a play and rondo kept instigating instigating instigating and it gets them both ejected doubt look it should be pointed out that rondo played spectacular basketball for the bulls in the playoffs when they're up two games to none and have not gotten hurt the celtics might not have made a run to the eastern conference finals guy that this these are all facts and rondo was great when he's with the celtics and we wanna and they wanna title but this is also the problem with rondo this is why he's the he's the chucky brown at the nba chucky brown to great new but check your brand play for like 13 teams that's what rondos working on because.

"Conference finals or go almost beat the warriors in the second round of the postseason i mean i think superstars have an immediate impact on your team i you know people don't like playing with a ball stopper man i mean it's like hosting with a host who doesn't ever let you get a worded right i mean you may have encountered some of those over the course of your radio career riot shots fired i'm not firing shots under saying you may have encountered water for you up over the course of your career and it's no fun it's no fun because you know it's this is a sharing medium if you've got a coast in here i mean this is technically a solo showed a night i liked bringing yeah i like bringing other people into the show that i'm doing but know i mean it's i think it's the easiest analogy to make because noone one likes cohosting with someone that won't let them talk and no one likes playing with a ball hogg who will never passes the ball the when you pass khumalo the ball in the corner at his age right now he's going to shoot a low percentage 20foot jump shot it has a forty three percent chance of going in what to do big deal and furthermore if any team should have learned from this mistake that they've made about this compiling old guys together it's the houston rockets member nineteen 96 folks they add charles barkley they give up the heart and soul the team i mean tell me how similar this trade is to the one they just made charles barkley comes to houston for sampras cell robert horry chucky brown and mark bryant utah you gave up to sell and robert horry for a sixfoot for barkley who couldn't jump anymore barkley thirty three years of age akim allies 133 years of age clyde drexler thirty four years of age didn't work chris paul thirty two years of age carmelo anthony 33 years of age you see the theme here oh i'm supposed to be excited about pj tucker is five point eight points a game i'm happy about the nee i think this team needs a deeper bench and i think this team needs another big piece they've got a threeyear window to win the nba title with chris paul a threeyear window and you're still missing a big piece and i have no no i dea were that's coming from you know i loved.

"A free quote will tuesday was all about dwight howard the angelo russell and also timothy mas golf and broke lopez they were the big names that were thrown out in the trade commission those traits probably did happened the white house ended up going from atlanta to charlotte so he stays in the south but he leaves his hometown team with much fanfare he came back to atlanta and that's why this point is that he is on his way to chucky brown status where you're just going to change teams every year he's a hot potato and he toss him around in luxury went down will see with white can do in charlotte hornets uniform all the hornets are not on the radar of contender are not on the radar contender in the eastern car routes and the lakers in brooklyn are certainly not either but the two names the two names i've got here one of them is jimmy butler jimmy butler who reports said that he's he's told the balls he wants to stay in chicago idle by that i believe the bulls are actively pursuing every opportunity to trade jimmy butler and i i did say between weight's going to stay there we talked about that yesterday weighed the play was to keep the contract has no one else was going to pay up twenty four billion dollars and there's some talk about how wade and jimmy butler of gotten together and they want the bulls to get rid of rondo they believe rondo is a prop and it was the ten different versions of all these stores bouts to butlers out there his name gets tossed round even more on the day before the nba draft and then blake griffin and i've heard some whispers about signing trade possibilities the blake griffin name will come up in places like philadelphia again in boston the celtics with the number three pick now in the nba draft zongo's blake griffin and jimmy butler is the two names that will be tossed out what we get a wildcard in the nba.
