"It's going to be zoo around the actual rosebowl? Where can I park? They sent me a link to this like a Marriott with a public garage and it's like okay. That's what I'm in do so I went right from sets house so I'm like in my pool close but I have like some jeans and my car in flip flops and so I get to this Marriott and it's like two miles away from a from the Rose Bowl so now I'm like Oh man my poor back. I'm about to walk two miles in flip flops with the fuck. Do I do and I start digging through the back of my try like an an extended cab so there's like a backseat just full of junk and I start digging it. I found find a pair of tennis shoes pair sneakers Chuck Taylor Converse all stars which as as you know. Are those like canvas sneakers. They look really cool not the most comfortable but I was like this is better than flip flops probably but I didn't have socks so I put those things on. I start to walk. I get maybe a mile and realize that doing this without socks a huge mistake my toes are rubbing against the canvas sneakers on the inside and it is literally scraping the skin off of the knuckles on my toes and just scraping like my heels and my Achilles tendon tendons both of them and I'm not even to the Roseville. I'm not even halfway but I'm like I. I WANNA take photos. This is happening. I don't care who's going to deal with the pain I get to the rose bowl in it is packed. Everyone has had the same idea. The parking lot is just packed with people. We'll find a wall to sit on and I just kind of park it there. I put my tripod up in front of me and I just sit there and I'm like forty five minutes early and I just sit and I'm by myself I sit and wait and wait and wait forty five minutes finally about nine thirty pm the Fireworks Start and they are awesome totally glad I did it was worth the blisters and skinned end up fee. I stayed for the whole thing and then as soon as it was over everyone was like walking back to their cars so it was just like just as mass exodus and I'm just like stuck in a crowd and I hate crowds and try taking all these detours to get away from the crowds which just ended up making me walk like probably quarter mile extra by the time I get to my car my back once again. Dan is completely fucking shot because Chuck Taylors if you don't know what they are looking up but I feel like probably everyone knows what they are. Chuck Taylors are just a flat sole. They offer no support so my back once again is jacked. This was Thursday. It's still way better than it was. Last time. I recorded this podcast like and then. Two days ago Sunday like super amp that I'm out taking photos and I'm getting some good stuff and so Sunday I wake up. It's it's just a lazy Sunday. The lonely island like to say I'm just GonNa lay on the couch play some video games so I fire up the X. box playing video games and I was like you know what this is fucking dumb. I'm being lazy Sunday. It's nice outside. The weather was like eighty degrees. I should go outside. I gotta find a really cool place. I don't care if it's far. I'll drive on the road trip to take some cool photos even if I have to get a hotel for the night and so I'm like I'll look at some route sixty six you know route sixty six goes all the way across across the country. There's really cool stuff to take photos of hotels and buildings and weird gift shops and shit all the way across.

"And then what do they I look like they were super like like conscious like high top converse that style where their basketball, those were Chuck Taylors? Yeah, Chuck Taylors, and they were named after him. He was backed while player. But before that, yeah, Daimler shoes are cool shit before him though, and that they were low top and they were kind of like not even like kids. They were. Evenly basic than that. I got just rubber soled shoes. Yeah, anything. And then you know, of course they were supporting equipment, but then there was a shift in the eighties with break dancing and stuff when they became a cultural expression. Yeah, and it was talking about the ways that people used their tennis shoes to, you know, for tribalism, like where you I'm in this group. Yup. You're in back Rowley. Heck recently with the Nike boycott where people were burning their shoes, you can still see the ways that I'm buying more that choose are in this weird conversation about politics, and it's strange because there's a problematic in Nike has like the sweatshop problem. That's right. So it's this weird thing where like they've represented certain values for different groups, but it's still consumerism. It's still point a company that just trying to make. Money. Yes, that's for sure. So that was interesting. I will have to find out where that article was, and I will put it in the newsletter if you want to sign up for our newsletter, you can go on the brain candy, podcasts dot com and sign up, and we just send it out once a week with some of the links from thirty goals. When in I would imagine that for a long time, they were only men's tennis shoes. That's a good point. Although women did play tennis. Yeah, I'm sure they want what they looked like what the design when you know, because if women weren't playing basketball. Yeah, that's true. Where did the women's sneaker kind of, I think that began when like you have the exercise? Yes. Industry. Yes. Was bored all the like Jazzercise Onda. Yes. Even before then in the seventies. I mean, women did jog things like that, but that is really interesting. I would like to see that will be a really cool. I'm. Like into sneakers, and that would be a really cool museum exhibit like a, I think they have a museum of that would be really cool to go. I would really enjoy that. Yeah. 'cause you know you have the air Jordan's. And do you remember like the Reebok pump? Yes. With the pumps. Yeah, yes. My mom would not let me get any of those shoes growing up. She said they look like moon boots, and instead I was forced to wear converse all stars. Well, they do look like moon boots and she's not wrong. And those new ones that they came out with or like the throwback to the old ones that look like that look like they're straight out of spice world movie. I'm like, oh yeah. Oh, probably Balenciaga again, I love my. You have this axe to grind. I do. I hate them now. Drass fashion. Well, let's not trashy. Is the fab fund products? No Knox they have like.

"I mean, not enough is not enough explained what I mean by. That's what I mean by. Because if I think people in general are stupid people, and I think you have a bell curve and you have smart people that get it. And you have the mid- middle majority who just kinda sway with whatever the stories you have, people who are always going to be dumped and troll. But that's my issue with phantom in general is you have a bunch of people who have opinions, but are. They don't. They don't have the integrity enough to have an opinion without researching. No, absolutely. Not. They're going to. They're going to read the front headline in the make their judgment. Yeah, and that is extremely frustrating. The issue I have it, it's bothersome because it tarnishes people's legacies and don't always say this, say this all the time like shit that actually manage the legacy only matters to the people in your first up soon. Funeral rose, absolutely shit that only only matters, but it affects your influence on things. And if an initial. Essentially affects your pocket. Your perception is is what sells is you're absolutely no, there's no question. There's a lot that goes into it and there is a massive trickle effect from all of, I guess, the more time away from the situation, the better you play. That was my biggest motivating factors getting back out there and playing approving listen. This is the last in the world that I need is not me, but you know, there's some people that will never forgive forget. Yeah, I'm worried about, welcome. I got. I'm not worried about, you know, like you said the most important people you family close friends. I rose because because. I don't know whatever. I was still be my family. My mom hates when I say this your, I'm going to bury her. She's gonna bury me on a you. I was puck, would've you'll make sure I'm not wearing a stupid fucking sue at my funeral wear a lot of sense in in life Burmese from Chuck t's, Chuck Taylors for those that don't. And there's an open bar funeral and and I'm gonna pay to Samoans a hundred grand apiece. Nobody in black is allowed. You can't wear all black funeral guys Bush. It's a party. I don't remember that man. So when you bury me, make sure I don't go much longer. I feel good. So. As far as as your situation right now? Yes. Or any teams contacting you or I talked with some people just more feelers than anything else. I mean, nothing has been too serious. The good thing is I'm good, physical and mental shape the best I've been in a while and either scenario playing or not playing. I'm in a good head space where I'm at, and I think that's most important thing I don't. I don't want to be out there. Dying to play. Never happening. Late night affect me for the next five, six years. I'm just kinda more open towards the entire Scituate. Now if you ask me this in February, be freaking out the back on the field Asia, but this is kind of one of those things rive Obamas' things in life. The other opportunities and been been really lucky and blessed enough to spend enough time with my family this off season do some things I really enjoy and just seeing there is a whole lot more than just football. However, saying dig into that because they aspect is the Brancusi in that I know the love the football side, like you cooler, whatever. Like going, to the Caribbean, in that regard I, mean it's, good weather so they're not her you know it's not like. People are freezing and those kind. Of things there's a, fairly developed, agriculture there a lot of olives of course and they. Even have a wine, industry and so forth Years ago there was a story. I honestly can't remember, if it, was in Mexico it was somewhere in South America that A US firm put a plant down there and they're having trouble with productivity. And so they ended up dropping a. Bunch of Sears catalogs in the break room and. All of a sudden productivity improved because There were. Stuff they wanted they just didn't know existed I mean you know seventy years ago when we had paper catalogs and all that Solution, they have TV and so forth and so they've been exposed. To these, things but you, drive from this you know gorgeous area. Big hotel one person that buys it and then everybody else a. Lot you, know in five minutes you go. Up towards the mountains in. We had to stop the. Cars that, she prevalent, across the road I mean just very quickly you leave out Civilization or that, kind of thing that everyone seems very. Content nobody was less good they weren't honking all the time wasn't. Like driving, in Italy or something like that Crazy yeah Everyone was just kind of doing their thing and pretty content. Was fine he didn't feel ever feel like you're at risk or anything. Like that it. Was Lower terrorist threshold than England. Was actually talking about England more than anything oh. I felt safe their now the interesting thing was Trump was in town. When we were there as well so he was over there for his. Press conference Actually almost missed her flight because of. Else and you, know Trump's thumbing his nose at the. Brits I, mean it was certainly the home turf is being, oppressed? "Those brands where the dassler brothers adult and rudolf dassler they were two brothers who lived in southern germany and in the nineteen twenties they started their own shoe company now in the nineteen twenties they weren't too so much in the line of sports shoes so they principally made shoes for running track and soccer shoes no they had some success earlier on thanks to the nineteen thirty six olympics which was hosted in berlin but you know what made the dassler's you know famous today is they they had a falling out there there's shoe company they founded together didn't last through the war and they each decided to found their own shoe company but they neither one wanted to leave their small town in bavaria so one set set up shop on one side of the towns river the other on the other side and know to this day this is where the headquarters of adidas on one side and puma on the other are and their animosity was so strong that you know this town is called the nicknamed the town of bench next look down and see what shoes you were wearing to kind of flush out you know okay well are you citing more with adidas or more with puma and you know the the brothers never really reconciled and you know they're they're buried on opposite sides of the town cemetery so what a fascinating story but meanwhile there are a lot of people who were just continue to collect these sneakers oh yeah of course and what i found was sneaker collecting is you know like any sort of collecting i grew up collecting baseball cards and you know there is a certain magic of finding that card that you know you've been waiting for for you know people collecting sneakers there's you know those one or two shoes out there that they really want that they just can't wait to get their hands on so they're the reason for collecting sneakers who's kind of the reason for collecting anything i mean it means something special to us we have a caller from harlem who's been collecting sneakers since the nineteen sixties peter hey there peter i just wanted to say that your story about chuck taylors.

"Different but it's really basketball is still the same the idea with basketball is to try to get as close as possible to the basket to put the ball in the hole that's why they hate long for the listener like long two pointers are frowned upon because it's like you take once that back as a three pointer than the same percentage percentile of going in essentially right okay so used to go into the big gash shaquille o'neal and he just dunk it because he was so big and so powerful anybody that unstoppable and a history basketball when he decided not physically no when he hit the switch in his head of there's nothing you can do because i'm pissed off and you're insulting me by guarding me and the second guy that came in and that's more of an insult that you think he can help you i've never seen anything like giggling now jesus christ i didn't i didn't get the pleasure of seeing wilt chamberlain play i mean i mean those guys in chuck taylors trying to guard will she act man korean doesn't get to loved it he deserves as being arguably the best but shag just dominant man physically just like came there was a grace to it came you know growing up playing soccer the footwork was so exceptional what they call eurostepped now like came to came and shack was just it was just brew it was like the kool aid man coming through the wall like oh yeah seriously him carry dudes i remember leak rose he just can't really grow tiny.
