And by the way now when I make pot roast and I don't make it off, and maybe, like, once every other month or so, um, the lessons you taught me About browning the meat and and also the choice of meat and has to be a chuck Rose. That's the one where it has taken fall apart with it with the fork. If you cook it really nice. Then putting a cup of water or cup of, you know, be beef broth. First of all, you got to brown the meat on the and the more you like, burn it and send it on the outside, the better the flavor and you really helped me make a great roast. I don't know if you say the word birth or singe, but a good golden brown crust would be amazing. And anyway, I loved it. What do you have cooking for for Super Bowl Sunday? "It's the dog is the one who did it and you just finish. The job is crazy to excuse me. There's there's videos of it of the way they do it. And it's like whoa and i've been asked to go on one of those hunts and like i am not interested in doing that dog. It's do they get new dogs but this is This is the thing that people are doing for two reasons one for food right because this is the best way that they can get food like you can trap this animal. And then that's how you're gonna get the animal if you just rely on just hunting with a rifle or a bone marrow in real thick shit with wild pigs. You probably going to go hungry. So so there's that and then the other thing is these are invasive. Animals like they brought over to why and they're wild and they have no predators so they have to kill them. They have to control this. How did they bring them to kill a species or something. Like a noted. No no they brought them over for food. Okay like captain cook. Those dudes used to do that. Shit these release gonna catlin cook. I'll in i captain crunch. I know captain crunch of stuff Captain hook was an old pirate right. Wasn't he cook. Cook don't say hook. Hook was pirate to captain cook. He's to go to islands and they would drop off animals so that the next time they came around they'd have something to eat. Leave goats on an island. I think that's how the goats got on galapagos. I think that's how they got on a lot of islands. The these pirates or sailors would drop these animals but meanwhile the animals destroy ecosystems yet. But you have some fresh coat. When fresh coat yet fucked the rivers. They had a lot of turtles too. They they killed off a lot of sea turtles because they would take sea turtles and they flip them over and put them on their back and they'd be good for weeks. Yep would eat them. Because you don't you don't need any they don't eat anything like they can survive just on their back for weeks and weeks and weeks and you don't have to worry about refrigeration them but you can't tell somebody you're hunting turtles. You're not trying to as fuck if you like a fucking stock this fucking turtle for three days. I think probably get game on the beach but if you got them in the water that it'd be quick sea turtles when i catch of a turtle on the road and it was always one country motherfucker like this he. It was a mechanic in a neighborhood and he had like oil up under his hand. He always helped people's babied mothers with fucking changing brake pads and shit grimy dirty mother that eat anytime type roadkill and whatever we saw fucking dare dead turtles something. We knew that nichols going to yell. Now turtle soup. Yeah soup yeah. I'm not a big fan of. But i've never had it. Yeah it seems like it would probably be an alligator media media type of family. I'll get it tastes good. It is yeah everything is good what it tastes like chicken. That's the reference for any thing. It tastes like chicken. yeah. I have frog legs recently. There were good you. It's i've heard providence before but trying to convince a black person he frog legs is tough sale. Does that order to to get a black person to order frog. Legs off of a menu is like getting them to say. I want my stake. Wo- rare is always gotta be. Will you well done no. That's what i'm saying. I though but how do you eat your steak medium medium yup media mer out. There's a lot of black people to watch. It gonna be like where he changed when they start about bloomberg when they start talking about blood that's what he lost the street so that i could do media medium rare. I can't do it i would. I understand i've had it like that but my preference would be. Yeah but average circle. That i grew up round. My jujitsu instructor eats it. Well done and when he orders it i cringe. Like doc machado. Well done you know what that is for. The sh chef that gets to order says to well done stakes at table forty knights. They're calling them every fucking racial today. I think that's the quickest way to fucking it makes my order of fuck of well-done. Stay it should not enjoy it cooking it like that. That's a weird thing like a preference thing like if you ask people's preference like it's not like you just cook it like if you order chicken. They just cook your chicken. They don't ask you a temperature. You'd like chicken breasts. They just cook it but even pork chops. Same thing right. You don't ask you stake. They'll give you options while the fuck you give me an option. If our can't have all done you should just have it your way but it just insulting it is but it's salting like give the opportunity to insult because they do have that as an option have you ever been A certain way like judge somebody by the way they own steak. Yeah i do honestly. But but again. John john machado like i said i have nothing but respect for him makes me sad that he likes well done meat. I notice is gonna be bad people. What type of brother m bernard took. My sister had to eat once. She wanted to stay as she ordered. Well done it. I think you should order something else i say. I'm not paying for a leather belt. Wow and i didn't have to eat to shit. I wasn't gonna do. I just felt fucked up you. You felt judgy. I didn't feel. I was judging little judgy. Yup i was lit. Fucking hood should go. But isn't that the only food that we have that with like cheeseburgers. Nobody gives a fuck if somebody says how. Do you want your cheeseburger like pulling the black the black community when you said cheeseburger for the most part. That's going to be well done cats. Don't wanna see the pink in. That's what they want. They'll tell you all the pink out. Well you really should with ground beef. See the thing with ground. Beef is you. Don't know what the surface area is when you're eating ground beef right. They take a cow's whatever they grinded up the stuff in the middle like that could have been on the outside right so you don't know like when you get a steak you see here the outside cook the outside the there's no room for bacteria anything could have grown on the outside is dead inside. You don't have to worry about unless it's rotten. That's why black people get their fucking hamburgers well done. That's wise saying we didn't know it but that's just what it was for hamburg. You don't wanna get food poisoning right. Yeah hamburgers in fact. You are right there when they grind it or you go to a top shelf restaurant where they literally. They'll take a piece of chuck rose and they'll or even framing yawn. Like some of them do it with a groundout filet mignon unit. Right neighbors in the right neighborhood usually add fat to it. Believe it or not to make a juicy to juicier. What is it why people blood i mean like like. I don't know why people get a kick out like the rarest. They can order steak like the blood. Part of. That's rare is weird when someone orders rare or you know what blew. Up you proud of the blood. Joe no every time you posted l. pitcher it's like you can't just showed a meek you want motherfucker knife and you do your pitcher joe at. It's like you waited for to blood sweat at a certain temperature. You know when it looks to bloodiest and dustin shot. Got always what i'm trying to do and i'm trying to do is show that it's cooked perfectly. That's medium rare with respect for the meat. When i do. I use thermometer. I mean. I do it nice and slow. No you know how to cook. Don't wait wait a minute. Wait a minute just trying explains wait a minute joke. What your man of wilderness. Yes right an all that you will respect that looking at joe looking for effect. Look at that. that's perfect. You can't it doesn't get better than that but you're proud of the color of it. 'cause it's perfect it's perfectly cooked but it looks like half. What is it elk elk. That's super athlete. I argued with someone. Because i told them that. You like elk can make bell and they were like this but airline. Papa makes it the last time. I spoke to you about me cooking. You were very condescending. That's not true. Yes where you said it. The same way. I said you got shot. No okay so you can cook. Yeah and you're kind of sending it is but the way would that w you looked at me. You look me up and down you. Judge me differs. Joe does jif what i said..

The question is, can somebody follow her two years down the road and do the same or better? Within that particular district, a cz far as Trump Pence. I think the chances of from Pence winning this state or any delegates in this state Both etiquette zero, Shawn, I just don't think it's gonna happen. I understand that,.

"The reasons for attending the calm. But I think what I what I love about. Dvd's especially about this DVD's we we got to interview so many great people for this film you know from you know of course. Standing Josh. Who made the film with? But you know. Kevin Smith Toro Grant Morrison Jerry Robinson. Created the joke or Felicia Day Nathan fillion and there were a lot of folks you know that we could put in the movie or the we had to edit down there interviews down to just like one or two sentences so to be able to expand on all of those interviews and all of those great stories that tell and told them the DVD. I think is probably the thing that I really love is that I think that that really speaks to me as a Fan. I think other people really dig it now. He was asked it while you were searching for the people to profile. Were you ever afraid like this? One particular guy would never propose to his girlfriend. Yeah well I mean those things can always happen. You know it's like You never know. And that's the what makes documentaries. You know both exciting and potentially nerve wracking is Is You don't know how it's GonNa end you know. You don't know what's going to happen so I think we were very fortunate that We we got a Guy James Darling who was able to you know and was able to man up and not be afraid of the challenge. That was in front of him. And you know he's proposing girlfriend in front of six thousand people You know the fact that You Know Holly Conrad was able to you know that she was actually able to win. The masquerade you know. It's like that was epic. Who who would have thought that she would be able to pull that offer You know I think that we just You when you when you cast a film like this you know it is a crap shoot and you know the one thing that we wanted to make sure we did. Is We want to make sure we. We found characters are characters that we are following that had real stakes. You know people that were really going there with a a a very distinct sense of purpose And you know we did. We got you know people who were really going there for some specific reason. You know how you know Eric and skip who are trying to break into the comic book business. Those are those are great stories But not knowing how it's GonNa work out is is part of the gamble but I think we were. We were really really fortunate with the cast and Morgan. This is Tony Tomato of talk as far as what you learn from those people and what they're trying to make their dreams come true and working hard at it. What did you come away with? After speaking to them and seeing their story. Yeah I mean I think for me when the one thing that I think comes away from when you watch comecon in general and you watch the film I think it really does. Kind of shatter whatever stereotype. You may have had granted. There are people there who probably do still live at home. We've probably dill student. Do still live with their parents. But I think that is not the majority of people who go to COMECON. I think it is filled with very passionate. People very passionate fans Who actually do have lives? And this is just a great place for them. Either to express their creativity or to celebrate things that they're passionate about You know I think I think it really does change your view of what Of what a what a convention like this is really all about he also describes how. Vip's make the proposal happen. Yeah people love to think that we somehow came in there and make happen which you know. We don't do when we I don't do when we make films you know we don't go in and try and Fultz with things. We have no idea how things are going to end You Know James Darling. New a friend of a friend who at one point worked on a Kevin Smith movie and somehow got in touch with that person who got him in touch with assistant. Who got him in touch with Kevin Smith's assistant and you know the guy did all his own legwork. I mean it was amazing to see what he was able to pull together and they both loved Kevin Smith so he knew he wanted to propose to his girlfriend at that panel. I mean it's it's amazing. People people pull up proposals in incredible ways. I was just talking to a guy on a phone Who He used to work at. Was it access Hollywood or or e or one of the. He works at some entertainment channel and he said. I love the marriage proposal because I love that he goes because I propose to my wife on a plane using a video that I got the stewardesses to play where he literally got all of these celebrities that he would be interviewing when he'd go out to do these. He got all the celebrities basically to talk about him so he created this video. Where all these letters were talking about him and how great. He wasn't what a great catchy was. And this is playing on the video screens on the airplane so literally. Everyone on the plane is watching his then. At the end he proposes to his wife on the plane. And so you know people do extraordinary things when they're in love and I think that that's what this is. Just another one of those great moments that is it's a great geeky moment of being in love and that's what that's for me. That's an incredible thing. Other people who tried to make a movie kamikaze. I mean I think it had zero to do with me. I had I gone to them by myself. They would have said absolutely not because I think I think they were already trepidation about me. Making a film you know. GonNa Make Fun of Am I just going to go in and make fun of people? Am I going to just you know you know? Pull a kind of triumph the insult comic dog and you know and literally just make fun of all the low hanging fruit and I think that really the only reason the movie got made was because we partnered with stand in just to make this kind of the old and the new guard of of victim. You know the the the keepers of the of the grail and I think that That I just got by myself. They wouldn't have done it. But because Stan Joss both gave this film kind of their seal of approval they believed in it you know. They believed in the story that I wanted to tell which is kind of getting to the heart of why people are so passionate about comic con I think that was the only reason that COMECON said yes. It must've been for you like planning a war in kind of coordinating everything shooting on the floor and also getting the celebrities that like the planning part is before you even start it. Yeah I mean it was massive. You know there was myself and my two producers Matthew Galkin and Jerry. Chill Nick like we we we. We got the know the book of. Here's everything that's going on at COMECON. So we knew here's the characters were following and everything else that's happening Here all the people that we know are coming in so you literally just start chasing as many things as you can and you have to be very strategic because we had we had fifteen full. Crews that were there shooting And at any given moment Like the film producer that was with that group could pick up a second camera so we were usually rolling anywhere between fifteen to twenty five cameras during during the day and then we would literally give everybody their marching orders. Shoot this panel talk to you. We want you to talk to this person. You know that. With the exception of the people who were following our main characters that were in the movie we were bouncing around all the time. Throughout the whole con- We had a crew of one hundred fifty people. It was the biggest I've ever had in my life. I mean and it was. It was literally like you were planning every morning and every night. Exactly where you're going to be shooting and some along the way you just miss things you know you miss an interview or you miss a moment where somebody was doing assigning or someone was talking and you have to let those things go because there's so much going on in that moment you just have to continue to stay focused like we miss that. But how do we not the next one and And it's a it's it's a lot you know. There's a lot to cover. There's one hundred fifty thousand people there over the four days and there's so many things happening you just you're never gonNA capture everything but I think what that does is a great job of showing the immensity of the con of how much there is going on and gives you just like a real slice of life of these of the people that go there the passion they have and why they're there amen to that you also addresses pirating and pirated copies of his documentary being available as a documentary filmmaker I am incredibly pro piracy because ultimately if somebody's going to download a documentary illegally and show it to anyone. God bless them for doing that. I think that documentaries have such a hard time already of finding on getting an audience and Listen you know. I want my films to make money. I want the distributors. Put them out to make money but at the same time. I WANT FANS. Have you'll have access to them so I'm not nearly as precious or or you know. Upset about you. Know people bootlegging things when we were making wearing the world's Osama bin Laden and this is a perfect example. We're making wearing the world's Osama bin Laden we're shooting in Saudi Arabia and a girl comes up to me on the street in the middle of Riyadh. Were shooting right in the middle of the capital. She comes up to me and she says she's little Saudi girl she goes. Are You Morgan? Spurlock she's twelve thirteen years old. I said yes and she goes. I just have to tell you that episode of thirty days where the Christian guy went to live with the Muslim family. One of the most important things I've ever seen. I shared it with so many people you throughout Saudi Arabia. Thank you for making that. That wasn't there legally. That was a complete bootleg that somebody took and and and shared with that whole country. So I mean I think there's something that that is. That is very valid about that. Especially if things aren't going to be able to be accessed you know what I want somebody to buy a DVD. Of course I would but if someone can't do I want them to not see my film. Absolutely Chuck Rose Naski from Ma is definitely one of the breakout stars of the documentary. Will we see more of him in the DVD? Yeah there's there's a little bit more chocolate on their You know there's There's more of all of all the characters that are in the film there's You know I I. Love Chuck Chuck is such a such and such a breakout star. And I I would love to do more with chuck like I. I would love to have chuck and I want to have his own TV series like like the whole story of Mile High. And the fact that he's keeping that place going you know and and his expanded he moved into a new facility. That's now sixty thousand square feet. I mean the guy is the guy is a machine and I think he's there's something really inspirational about about chuck because he is someone who will always find a way so always find a way to do it and he ended up selling the Red Raven last fall He said you know what he goes. Well I'm finally sell this thing. I think he ended up getting a hundred grand for it So the guys guide to Smart Cookie look for Comic Con Episode Four Offense Hope on DVD. It's neat look at Phantom till next time this is Tony to Lotto. Have a great weekend. I got stare and I'm the composer for the event. You're listening to Sifi Talk..
Can Taking Zinc Help Shorten Your Cold?
"So we are right in the middle of cold and flu season and Alison as our consumer health aficionado. Let's start with talking about how to reduce the likelihood of getting a cold. Okay there's our shortwave favorite which washing your hands and you know mattie not everybody who gets exposed to cold actually get sick when they've done these studies where they take a rhinovirus and they stick it up people's noses and they see who gets sick and who doesn't they find that people who've slept less than six hours are about twice as likely to get sick when exposed to this cold virus as compared to people who've slept more so sleep is really important High stress has been shown to increase the likelihood and a lack of exercise has also been shown to make you more susceptible. I feel like you just targeted me with the high stress. I am not here to wag my finger at you or anyone else because at a certain point look we all get a cold. Typically adults in the. Us get about two to three colds a year. And when you do get a cold there is something you can do to put yourself out of so much misery. One method people swear by is zinc. That's right it's a mineral found in trace amounts in a lot of the foods that we eat our bodies need zinc to function optimally. In fact it's considered an essential mineral and boosting the amount of zinc. You get during a cold by sucking on zinc. Lozenges is actually shown a bunch of studies to help shorten the length of the common cold but only in certain situations and there are a lot of caveats so today on the show zinc an essential mineral and a cold remedy. We'll talk about when it works and when it doesn't Okay Alison we're talking about zinc and whether or not it helps shorten the length of a cold and there's a story behind that question that starts in the nineteen sixties. Yup that's right that is when a young physician named a Nanda persad studied a group of young Egyptian men who were completely deficient in zinc. Now these young men suffered from stunting. They hadn't grown to a normal height or developed normally in other ways and this is because they had very limited diets. They ate a lot of bread. That was hind phosphate. And that can actually block the absorption of zinc. Now skip ahead. Prasada is now ninety. One years old. He is still an active researcher at Wayne State University in Detroit and. He told me that when he gave these young men zinc. Something really remarkable happened. The grew at the rate of five to six inches in height the first two years so it was. What is a molecule remarkable? Change that occurred after supplementation. When you first documented this what was your you must have been ecstatic. Y- well actually the first patient re gives zinc and his other two couldn't believe it because I thought that the growth phenomena will be shut off after the age of eighteen and nothing will happen to anybody but that was not the case. So does that mean that. We all need to grow right well. We all do need zinc for optimal health. It doesn't work like a growth hormone and here in wealthier nations. It's completely possible to get enough zinc in your regular diet. But back in the nineteen sixties. The role of zinc was not at all understood. I mean people thought persad was crazy for just suggesting that zinc deficiency can do this but he ignored all those people who are skeptics. He just kept pressing on. He became really just kind of obsessed with getting to the bottom of how zinc work in the body. And so after he documented the growth in these young men. He threw himself into further studies. He really laid the groundwork by showing that zinc influences immunity he theorized that zinc works as an anti inflammatory agent and then over the course of a couple of decades persad and other scientists have shown that up to three hundred enzymes requires zinc for their activation or stability of their structure. Right like enzymes that you would even be familiar with like alcohol. Dehydrogenation rolls right up the Tong Yung. But importantly breaks down all that beer and wine. You drink the alcohol right right exactly but keep in mind. It took decades to show this. I mean lots of scientists completely questioned persad findings but eventually in nineteen seventy four. The National Academy of Sciences declared zinc an essential mineral for human health and they established recommended daily intake level. What is that Level Alison? Because now I'm a little worried about my zinc levels. Prepare well public. Health officials say that adult men need about eleven milligrams of zinc per day. Women about eight milligrams so let me help you figure this out. If you ate a three ounce beef chuck rose you'd get about seven milligrams so red meat can be quite high. That's close to a day's amount. A Half Cup of beings will get you about three milligrams. Pumpkin seeds a single ounce provides two point two milligrams so that's a good source and then there are lots of cereal grains that are fortified with zinc. Right that's why I eat a bowl of cereal every night. Eleven PM for my zinc. That's right you are clearly not zinc division. Here's a fun fact. Wasters have more zinc per serving than any other food. They contain seventy four milligrams per three serving. That feels like too much now overall. We shouldn't laugh. I mean overall here in North America overt zinc deficiency is pretty uncommon. But let me get back to the story of Dr Prasada and his discovery is now these zinc guidelines were first put into effect in nineteen seventy four and once. That happened. Persad began to wonder since he knew that zinc had an effect on immunity. Weather's zinc supplements might help to shorten the duration and symptoms of a common cold. And I should say that he kinda came at this from what he had realized back in Egypt. He's seeing that. A lot of these deficient men died early from infections. So his guests was that yes zinc lo and behold probably did play this role and immunity. Now it's known for instance that the body requires zinc to develop an activate t lymphocytes those. They're like protect you viruses and tae exactly that come out to protect you. They're the type of white blood cell. That is a key part of the immune system so this was all kind of in the back of his mind. He wanted to test out. Whether these zinc supplements might help shorten the cold so he collaborated with a scientist fellow. Scientists named Tom Fitzgerald at the University of Michigan. I talked to Fitzgerald and he told me what when Persad I gave him this theory. He was pretty skeptical. Got Admit when I first heard this I I actually told us a research assistant i. I think he's losing it. I was he so skeptical other than just being a scientist right. Exactly you know. I guess he was skeptical. That something as basic as a mineral would be powerful enough on its own to alter immune function which is a good level of skepticism. But he did agree to do the study. They recruited a whole bunch of people in Detroit. Who had colds? They gave them zinc lozenges made by a pharmacist. It was a double blind placebo controlled trials that means that neither the participants nor the researchers knew who was getting the real thing and who was getting the Placebo. And here's what they found long behold when I did in Dallas it indeed did shorten common cold symptoms by about two or three days and I gotTa Admit. I was stunned by that result. Two or three days isn't nothing now not at all when you think about. How many lost work and schooldays there are just because of cold symptoms that significant absolutely and then several other studies have confirmed these findings. I talked to another scientist. His name is Harry. Pamela of the University of Helsinki in Finland he published a sort of Meta analysis that reviewed a bunch of the studies and says bottom line here is low doses of zinc lozenges. Don't work you gotTa take about eighty to ninety milligrams a day of zinc at the onset of a cold that has been shown to help shorten it and he says he now uses zinc when he the cold coming on himself though. I'm also encouraging my patients to try zinc but Usually I am encouraging only if the common cold has been lost in for a day or something like that so he saying only within the first day that's right because if you don't catch it at the beginning you can't really halt the progression. It doesn't work okay so if you're taking zinc at the beginning of a cold it has to be within the first twenty four hours. That's what the studies have shown. Okay but here is another caveat and it's a pretty big one if you go to the drugstore right now and you find a zinc product. A lot of what you'll find are these multi ingredient products with a whole bunch of other ingredients. You've probably never heard of before. Be Aware that a lot of ingredients can undercut the effectiveness for instance. Some of them contain citric acid which actually binds with the zinc and makes it completely ineffective. So you're basically saying you've got to take it early. You've got to take at least eighty to ninety milligrams and avoid stuff with citric acid. That's right and as the consumer health reporter here I want to be able to say. Go out and buy this product. Unfortunately I can't do that because the lozenges used in the clinical trial. Those are not commercially available. And here's the deal. A LOTTA TIMES MANUFACTURERS CHANGE THEIR INGREDIENTS. They changed dosing. It's hard to make a solid recommendation about a product. Just basically have to do your homework. You gotta be aware that you need certain dose and that you don't want all these other ingredients think it's more what you can feel assured of is that there's science behind the idea that yes zinc can help shorten a cold. Would you be comfortable saying? Hey go out there and eat a couple of years. You know if you're seafood lover absolutely go. Enjoy some wasters. I can't tell you whether or not they're an aphrodisiac but I can tell you. They've got plenty of zinc

"Have a similar accident. Didn't your mother ever teaches simple matters miss daniels aye lassie she did and i can be exceedingly seemingly polite. When i'm dealing with human beings wow i mean she's almost comically terrible except not not really because they're totally people like that and yeah <hes> i i was gonna say this is definitely one of those weeks when mutant says a metaphor feel more frustrating and fraught than usual given current events who yeah well a a on the upside shields driver for this mission. A guy named chuck rose is pretty great. He's starstruck and very complimentary toward guido who's a talk show celebrity by this point and he charmingly flirts with a very receptive wolf spain. This is the part where where i feel like the art jumps. The shark in some really bad ways like there is a panel where it's just it's just pretty not okay yeah yeah but <hes> chuck nice at least so there's that so yeah but he's gonna turn out to be a villain so at least it's a nice felon. I mean i guess he's still villain. Well it anyway before we find that out the team of rap scallions with all of their delightful racist banter <hes> drives and begins the mission but it doesn't take long for the truck to get zapped and nearly explode by a hulking android with bright yellow skin. Maybe it's from the simpson. This was nineteen ninety-four that reminds me so my mother is looking for this pictures of me address skeletal right from a few episodes back right so she actually found some other pictures of me. Here's a kid and there's this one of me at like ten years old with this awful early nineties mullet playing the x. men arcade game next to a much older kid also playing it with me. I have no idea two who this kid has but we're both wearing neon simpson's t shirts because in the early and mid nineties like just what you did you just had bart simpson on your shirt. That's all there was to it. Not me eh oh well. <hes> i think out an important part of the early to mid nineties. I was a child unstuck in time so it goes so anyway. This bright yellow cyborg was just a diversion to distract everyone from the hovering disembodied consciousness of professor power who wanted wanted to go into the canisters contents which were abbadi. He wanted to possess okay the cyborg though like this this. This guy has life l. thighs. He has those those amazingly like over muscle but also foreshortened because of position legs and it's like we're the nineties just one on long leg day. I think basically were although i don't know i mean they do. Specifically say that this is an android not a cyborg so this yellow person does not need to be bound alan by the feeble laws of human anatomy or you know like you said maybe just everyday is like day. I mean he's still less than cable or xavier in in his astral form but we'll get to that so let's talk about professor power professor powers been around for a long time and he's always been linked to the x. men and this is actually the first x. book proper he's ever been in. There's this old marvel team up story. Where professor power son was all traumatized from a war and it was sort of vegetative asked xavier to cure his using his telepathy but professor power got impatient and so he had the villain mentality. I want to say sort take over at xavier to accelerate things and that didn't work so professor power sunday then he blamed digs xavier and he just kept going after the mutants. He's goal was was to kill xavier's children. You know the x. Men and stuff as revenge for your killing his his own child to this happened in a defender story a spiderman on story. Most of these were actually written by jammed mattis. D'amato seems to really like professor power but yeah. It's taken this long for professor power to actually get into one of the books of the targets of his ire. I really feel like he should be a villain.

What's what's pot roast? Oh my gosh. Okay. This should max Clarissa. Everybody listening to write this down. Okay. This is the easiest recipe and the best recipe in the world. I sister made it it was so going seven ingredients, including I mean, that's okay. Oil that's ingredient one two tablespoons put some oil on your frying pan. Kick us three pound Chuck rose. Seared on both sides. Okay. Little pepper three ingredients. So far how is camper? Oil put it in your. Doc. Take a path. Of the ranch dressing. You know, the powdered stuff. Sure. Coletta on hiccup package of the os. You dry mix. On top. Hey, one stick of butter. Put it on top one. Stick of butter put it on top. And then those yellow pepper on Seaney peppers. Uh-huh. Sweet banana peppers, sir. You take eight of them. That's it. No water. Nothing. So seven ingredients all that oil going in the crock pot into. You just fried in the oil, you tables, you take your three pound, Chuck and you see and on both sides right and pepper. So we're counting that as an ingredient. But it's not really an ingredient. I didn't know dumping that in the crock pot too. Then so just. Yeah. Okay. So you put the seared Chuck Ross on the bottom put the two packets of seasoning in their one. Stick of butter one sticker. Just put it on top. You don't have to mix anything. Ate peppers around. It you put it on slow. Yeah. Yes. Slow for eight hours. Sure. You don't lift it or now, you don't mix it. You don't do anything. You don't touch it for eight hours after eight hours. You take your forks. Easter? Okay. Seven ingredients. It literally took me ten minutes to make everybody loved it. Plus eight our dad. Plus, eight hours. Here's my other secret somebody I know work in the restaurant supply business, and you go to like steakhouses, and you think oh my gosh. You know, they make all their mashed potatoes from scratch. Gay down. It's instant mash potatoes. Mashed potatoes all these steakhouses they order from the supply company. Sure, and you could get it. You can go to jewel, whatever. If I had a ho you can get it like butter and CHAI, you can get garlic. Whatever idaho. All you do is heat up the water for. Boil the water put the potatoes in one one minute. That's it. Mashed potatoes the Chuck thing mixed its own little gravy. Oh my gosh. Did you sing ever? Can we turn Richon? If you. Now, he's probably less. Okay. Seven one one five six one one. I tell you easiest recipe in the world if you would like Email Robbie at mighty house dot net. Facebook. And I will write it down for you. Best. Everybody left it. Okay. Tomorrow Super Bowl that shouldn't be. So because both neither teams should be. They're protesting at by not caring who wins. I just wanted to hit my numbers. Sure. You know, the league doesn't care about us. Anyway. Sure. But. So I got two nine pound pork butts in the smoker. Oh, look at you got him smoked yesterday for seven hours, and then I cooked him overnight for another nine and they are now out there in the smoker resting. Okay. Enjoyed by many. They are still being smoked or it's only in their their. They're done being smoked. They are now being you sort of wrap them and render him a little bit gets fat to cook down these been cooking for days. Now is that what you just read much? Yes. So. Nine fifteen hours. See I don't really have that kind of time. It's a hillbilly. I called. My hillbilly crackpot is literally it's electric smoker. So you put all the way to chips, you know. The thing is in there, you set the timer the feed and all that you leave so comebacks to wrap it in foil kick, the temperature up thirty degrees to render die forget until I got up this morning. So you do this all outside. It's just on the fact, Patty. Okay. So it's an overhead smells like wonderful now. Somebody down wind hates me. Sure. So so this is self feeding is that what you said. Yes. Looks like hockey pucks. But it uses pucks of wood chips. Then it just keeps dropping them in there. Okay. So that's what it's called hillbilly crock pot. No. It's Bradley Bradley smoker. But I call it my hillbilly crock pot. Okay. Later this week. I might expect sliders steak sliders. There you go. You know, why can't take stake? You going to white castle? Is that what you're doing? Now. I'm gonna make them all you're gonna you're going to make them. Okay. Shake sweaters. You know, what I wanted to go back one minute to the habitat because. Time. Travel. We're going back back in time. Because I sent you a picture earlier this week. I was at the restore here in Vero beach. Yeah. It's. Okay. So we talk about the restore all the time. But there are many many many across the country. They're all kind of independently owned so people who are listening to us talk about the duller. We talk about habitat restore their amazing ones all over the country. So you can look up and find yours this one just had tons and tons of stuff was it was just humongous. Yeah. They're actually all over the world now to they're in a bunch of other countries. So it's not just in the US. So here in Naples or east Naples. They they don't usually have a ton of stuff ideas because it actually gets bought that quickly. Yeah. It's it's cleaned out right away. Yeah. So when you guys tear down hold you donate a lot of that stuff before you, do the tear down most of this. Stuff's not worth. Per se. But the other thing is is that the demo contractor has all the salvage rights. Oh, that's how you get a house torn down for, you know, eight nine ten grant. He keeps all everything. That's where he makes his money really all the copper, and whatever they pull out of there. Yes. Got to keep that in mind when you know, you're doing that. So and a lot of them they're nice houses, it's different. But a lot of this stuff really is outdated and junk. Yeah. Well, that's the other thing. Like, they will take laminate cabinets are limited laminate countertops that kind of stuff because they just don't people don't buy them. So. You don't even though they might be in good shape. You can't donate that stuff because they won't take it. So they wanna take product that they could actually sell again. That's it. You have problems with you know, plumbing fixtures because a lot of the old ones contain lead at the joints. And now everything's lead-free. You don't wanna do that the toilets are not, you know, one point six gallons. You don't want to put those in house. You know, somebody. That's you know. Doesn't have a crapload of money. So. Good one rich. Let's just came out that way. Yeah. He did have to show everybody I- fishing floaters again. Yeah. So he's talking toilets. And he's he's saying a crapload. Yeah. That's where that works. Look. I was just a coincidence. Okay. Oh, this doesn't have a motor. I can even check out one out and just. Oh, really? Really? Purpose. Ron we just went there. Yeah. It's your fault. Brother. You did it who. Right. This. Porpoise? Porpoise? Live edge. What say that again live, Ed, cedar boards where seven and a half feet long two and a half inches thick thirteen and a half inches wide. So that's a lot of board fitted. Wow. Make a lovely lovely table or two. Yeah. Box nice coffee contract up, and that's at the habitat store. Oh, Facebook marketplace. Oh, you know, we're all transactions should occur at a at a police station. Yes. Hey, you know, that's not a bad bad thing. A lot of police stations actually have what they call commerce zone. Yeah. And it's just an area in their parking lot that is under video surveillance, and they recommend that. If you're doing this stuff online is that's where you go to make exchanges. Yes. Yes. And I'm like, that's awesome. That's a great public service. As far as I'm concerned police stations there anyway. So. Yeah. And why not, you know, do you want to give out my if I'm selling something online? I don't give them my home address. No. I don't do that. So that meeting at the police station, that's quick. It's easy safe for both parties. I was sitting at a parking lot one day lunch outside the subway. That wasn't even bothered to be browned. Onions set. My mom saw a small onion was good for a family of twelve. So I grew up with that kind of Chilean. So I always say there was pasta into. Yes. It's very just nice light fluffy, delicious, wet because it's got all in it. And it's I just think it's a a nice little recipe. And it's very delicious because it has no gluten in it. So always have people looking for no bluetooth. Gluten it is just in case. Everybody's not aware if very serious issue nowadays. So anyway, just wanted to mention but the next one is five pound brisket on Saturday on Sunday. And of course, had lots of leftover between my wife, and I so after a couple of days Kathy's like, okay. So I don't want to eat that brisket like this anymore, and I go, hey, I understand and that was busy as I said, why don't you make something? So she made it curry coconut milk gr-, glazed onions, cumin Kobe into any was absolutely crunch. So she did eat it again. A we eat it we aided full full days in a row, and it was finishes. The was a to the point of this whole story is kind of like a what's left in your fridge? How to utilize the product, obviously. After two or three meters of eating December's get the same way, you've definitely done. But there is still a big piece left know. So that's another way to use it. All right, Katie. What was your tastes delete? Oh, I took a trip to Hello, Robin, the little cookie shop that could on nineteenth in the Capitol Hill region and had a meeting so meeting about other things, and then Robin the owner came out and gave me I plate of cookies, I was like no human compulsively get through this many cookies, and when city did you? I've made a pretty good dent. I will say I did a good job. But the real standout for me was just the traditional chocolate. Chip cookie. It's something that you see at almost all bakeries. But frankly, they do a really good job of it. And it was warm and delicious, and they do a good job of constantly rotating those cookies out. So I would say if you're hankering a cookie that's a that's a good place to go Wong chocolate. Chip cookie. That's a. The minute. You will meet up. That's it. By the way to have a meeting and have a Cup of coffee, and it just smells like cookies everywhere. I mean, it's a nice environment. Do you think there has to be a certain ratio of chocolate to cookie in a chocolate chip cookie? 'cause I think people crazy and that too many chocolate chips sometimes. Yeah. All these people nodding their head. Yeah. I think that there is a special ratio because you don't want. You're not eating a chocolate cookie. That's not the point. You don't want a chocolate bar. But yeah, I think there's there's chocolate sufficient ratio. What's the percentage of chocolate chips? I would say no more than twenty percent. Chocolate chips. New twenty percent. That would be my thing was little dots of chocolate in not chocolate. Dots of cookie. I would say that chocolate chip cookies are much like how people like their eggs prepared though. Everyone has a very specific way. You know, what I mean like if so like some people like crispy edges and a cheery center people like it all chew, some crispy. You like it you like don't like too much. Chocolate in my there, you go. Okay. Right. More doesn't make it better. Not all the time. All right farming. Your own cocktails is up next here. Seattle.

I, you know, I worship in idolize certain things this American life is definitely one of the like if I got to be on here. Here would be the pantheon for me. We never go back in time for one of them. But but to sit at that stupid round wooden table with Charlie rose that abyss black background talked to me. Really? Oh, I've done. It. You've done it. Yeah. I the best conversation ever had with him with backstage at a thing. We were doing at bam at your regular venue in New York. Clubhouse. Two thousand clubhouse home. Backstage for like something that he was that he was doing interviewing people, and I just asked him to describe his day to me back then grinding fascinating. Because you know, he would get like three or four in the morning if I remember this, right? And then he would read the newspapers and prep for his TV show. And then he would be on television from six AM to ten AM. Right. I don't remember the numbers, and then he would go and take a one hour nap. And then he would prep for his second television show for his PBS show, and then do that. And then he was like go out I've seen I saw him only one time in real life at this spotted pig in New York, and it was Valentine's Day. I was there with Kristen bell. Mel. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Ryan and Amy around basically, a four way Valentine's Day, but old Chuck rose was next to me with a younger lady. Now, again, this is pre any revelation about anything and just kill him a couple bottles of wine, and I missed our entire admittedly, Chris shoes. Well, should we go or not Makoni? Just checking extra flavor going to clean and prepare crab with captain, Sean Dwyer of the deadliest catch, you know, he came in that first time, and we had so much to talk about that. We did a second segment a week or two ago when he was here, but about how to clean king crab of which I had a fine version of last night at race. Cafe was the last time you eat it raised. I haven't been there in a long time. But I certainly have fun memories of it might have been eight or ten years for me. In there. So. Just saying. Delicious little salad. There's nothing you have to do to king crab except by good. Right. And then you have to properly you gotta let it slack. And then just don't overcook it because you'll you'll drain all the liquids out of the goodness somewhere more about that. From Sean Dwyer. We're gonna share our tips and tricks for buying and cooking pumpkins something. I never do. Why not? Which just you must buy a pumpkin for Jacqueline unin occasional. I'll get festive and carve out a little Jack lantern. But I never think about actually so what you're saying. Steal that in my city. Yes. Authority. I just never really tend to cook with them. So I think that's going to be a fun segment. Yeah. I love cooking with pumpkin. I think it's an underutilized squash. And of course, we're going to do our food for thought. Tasty trivia because I feel the need for speed. Do you think you're gonna win today? Are you feeling? I'm not feeling like a winner so much as I'm not feeling like a loser, you're middle. And right. That's good. I have confidence. But not over some days. I come in and just feeling that coming in hot hot time, Douglas. Yeah. Well, we'll see what happens. There's a lot of show between now and then lots of good staff, and then we'll see how you're feeling by the time the quiz comes up. Are you suggesting you're gonna smack me down there in the show, and I'll I'll be a puddle by. Maybe maybe I'll ask them really hard hitting questions three off your game. Speaking of hard hitting questions. Let's jump into ordinary to extrordinary because the chef the poke finally decided, yes. Perfect timing. We know that he loves to make things extraordinary. So let's just kick it off, shall we? Beef stew. It's starting to get a little brisk outside. I imagine the chef in the hat here wouldn't be bringing Yonne. Zeus? What makes it? Great little dash. No, no, no. How do you make take an ordinary beefburger gonna make an extraordinary? That's what I was gonna say. What makes you say Tom exit? Great does in extraordinary so little dash of vinegar at the end of your warming up. Your boogie news it up a little bit. That's a fresh herbs. Fresh Bosley is my favorite thing to put it on the boogie new and some wonderful grill bread visa with olive oil. So you can dunk that in there and time with that. I will add to this Mr. chef Mahattaya retro is that you gifted me cherry vinegar. I want to say it was last year, and I was brazing some beans, and I was like this could use a little perk could use a little something something that did exactly what you just outlined. It was it was delight. It's one of those acids in stews, I think at the end really helps making it just puts it up. Tom. I would also say that sometimes people think that they can use a better cut of meat to make it better. Like people working on his good with Chuck rose. Yes, we really good with filet Mignon. No. And it's really a bad idea. Terrible idea. So just stick with that nice bone in roast and do the cooking method better rolling slow and make sure you use the CEO pieces of meat before you knew this you make sure you put all your marina biking. You're right wine. And then a little stock if you have someone bringing it to a boarding and put it in the oven and cook it very nicely slowly so all of meat tenderizer. And that's right. Getting like a nice piece of beef that melting your mouth with a little red wine sauce connective tissues to breakdown there. All right. How about you take this one acorn squash, yum? Well, my mom did the whole day where she cut it in half. And. The hollowed side took seats up at the hall side down into a pan of water and baked it and then turned it over and put massive amounts of butter and Brown sugar in there. It was just like just made you the extraordinary candy bar, but that's kind of the classic way. Right. That's the way we had it. I was swimming. It's a similar idea that era of like glazed carrots, like everything was. Candy like quality to so little toasted almond and some citrus graded on that would help or be delicious. Scoop it out a shoe? Yeah. Cream puff though. Yeah. Take half. That's a shoe and half acorn squash. Macomb mix it together and make some delicious little pan-fried Mielke. Really good. Wow. Little Caesar in butter and pop them in the oven. And let them puffy little pillows sage butter. That's one way to take something that's ordinary and make an extra. I gotta tell ya that sounded pretty it wasn't sure you're going with that. But I'm convinced they now. Your hair's all pooffy. Were you not trusting him to come up with something? No, no trust. We're going to answer your questions on olive bars restaurants specials and more. When we come back on KIRO radio ninety seven three FM. Don't.
