"But i that kind of changed through that process or is that how you always knew that the nfl was and how football is like literally all we have is today. We have to get better today. Because if we're not somebody else's you would always preach preach. Did that become more apparent leukemia battle. Or has it always been kind of your outlook on everything. No i think going to that set of circumstances you gain perspective you understand You know. I just helped fragile life is i think we take for granted a lot of the great things in life that we have until the You don't have them and your health being First and foremost number one. You don't have your health Your faith family football that stuff. But you don't have your health is going to be very very hard so It gave me a better perspective. I've always had a pretty good outlook. Didn't take any days for granted but coming out of that great perspective and we all understand the national football league. We know it's in a when a stands for not for long We are one day contracts players coaches and that's a bottom line business. If you win you stay if you lose your out as a player if you produce you get a new contract. If you don't produce you're out it's simple and easy there's no greater that that is fascinating because you know there are some situations where people are like. Oh this person got screwed. This person not screwed and then they may be end up somewhere else and they have success. It's like the nfl figuring out if you're good enough the nfl. Find you in. If you're good enough to produce somebody will find you and if you're not they will get ready you as quick as possible. The nfl is all about. Hey need get rid of the anchors and everything like that. Couple more questions about the weekend. Here chuck frank reich hates field goals. I i mean. I think he hates them now. I appreciate that he's telling his team. Hey we're gonna leave every bullet on the field. We're not gonna leave anything on shape but we're going to go for it. There's been a couple of situations though that. I think if he gets them. He's a genius if not what are we doing. We're looking back on that. That seemed to happen here. The last couple weeks for frank. If you're frank reich. What are you thinking in those situations now going forward. Are you changing at all or are you too far long. What are your thoughts on the colts situation right now especially that one. No i think. Obviously they don't wanna be sitting at onto and They've had their set of circumstances deal with injuries and the other But we all know francs aggressive coach. He's been an aggressive coach since he started there and he's continued to do that. You know we have a bunch of analytics now to help us. You know with the decision making process when it comes to situational football Especially fourth and goal at the one yard line sits there and You know i go second goal. Thirty run it up the middle three straight times you know then you throw it on fourth down. I think probably everybody you know. Obviously the rams had done their homework and sniffed out they ran what we call a swap boot. You when you go for like you said pat and you make it. You know you're the genius and when you don't and it turns out where you get the sack. and then they drive the length of the field and scored touchdown. You're talking about a minimum of ten. Fourteen point swing all the momentum..

"There hasn't been anybody like him ever before now. People compare other mobile quarterbacks to the more jackson he already has eight hundred yard rushes or whatever and his career. I think the lead is tan. Which is what vic. Add michael vick one hundred. He's gonna pass that in three weeks. He's done in like forty. Three games took vic obviously two hundred plus and it's gonna and listen. Michael vick was a video. Game is much different now than it was. Then the offense is set up for the martorana. Michael vick's was not it was basically we got a west west coast offense and then basically he was just scrambling to run for his life. Lamar jackson offense. Is the lamar jackson offense. Because we have lamar jackson. And that's like people are saying they're not gonna pay him and they. They can't payments like their entire offenses lamar jackson. Yeah so the dyes that they give the pictures that could give because the defense is scared to death. At lamar jackson is going to continue to keep the football the offensive line not build up mark andrews getting money the defensive end that gets moved to full-back. That's because lamar jackson is so if they were to not pay lamar and get on the outs with martin out granted. Health is going to be something that will always be mentioned. Because it's mentioned alongside every other position at runs with the ball lot okay. That is something that happens that there's a chance the mar- has seemed to have no problem with that. He seems to miss hit somehow even while still gaining extra yardage. That's spin movie hit on old buddy. Cincinnati is still something people talk about split people and continued. He doesn't seem to take many big hits but all anybody will say is it only takes. Hey takes it only takes one. And he's obviously at a higher risk running the ball to get hit like that. But also i'd say the quarterbacks that can't move sitting in the pocket seems like they get hurt a lot to also. I think just the quarterback position as a whole if they get hurt you're fucked it's like yup. That's that's the position. And that's kind of the only drawback people say about lamar jackson if he gets hurt your fucked. It's like if your quarterback in start up. I was on a team that was completely undefeated. Then two years later our quarterback you now. Monday night football with his neck. We almost went completely it. So if you lose your quarterback you're in trouble and you can lose your quarterback in many different ways including what it sounds like don in miami. Oh no not fans to so earlier. In the week. It was reported in her. Got hurt this past weekend. While he's well see that is that is something that seems to be a couple of unfortunate events here in to his life the hip. I'm not sure anybody could have expected that. And then how last season. And then now he he is. He did get hurt and dig. It carted off the field. Okay in the way we covered this was because the initial reports were it was not serious. Not no there is nothing wrong. It is not a serious injury and actually on monday night football as watching the headline at the bottom. The ticker just like we have down here. Obviously ours is much different than espn's the the ticker said like update on to his injury. Not serious and i actually facetime. Aj hawkins i saw that answered for the first time ever. Wow yeah yeah. It was pretty cool. When i go. It's going to be hard not to you. Know say some stuff about two tomorrow if it's not a serious injury with what had happened on sunday and then obviously darius butler joined us on overreaction monday he is a miami dolphins fan he said. Hey that seems like a pretty standard hit..

"Reaction. Obviously the what. Aaron rodgers said yesterday around the sports world there's a lot of conversations and predictions and everything projections and a lot of that. We will ultimately end up doing that. As well. we will pick are super bowl teams today. Why recall one year ago. Aj hawks said he thought the dallas cowboys and the kansas city chiefs will be in the super bowl. He said that with a straight face because big mike mccarthy was going down to dallas and he had the utmost faith in them. They lose their franchise quarterback aj look like a stooge route the entire year and we referenced. Numerous times as the season one on i did predict tampa bank kansas city. Although i wasn't the only one okay. A lot of people were predicting that when you look at the roster when you look at the paper what those two teams were expected and projected to go. So maybe this show. I'll make something different. Maybe i'll shake it up a little bit. Kent with with the boys can't wait to hear what any jayhawk things. Well chuck pagano on today. Hey coach at all levels of football for like thirty three years before retiring last year was last with the chicago. Bears defense coordinator. He's sailed off into the sunset after beating obviously leukemia in every football team. I think the mets amount of stories that he has he was my coach. I'm very thankful for. He created chuck. Strong i mean a foundation. That is raised. Like i think at this point. Maybe one hundred million. I don't know that. Seems like a lot but i think they've raise like twenty forty fifty mil. I don't know a lot of say. Just bet two million dollars. Free throw together chuck strong foundation incredible legendary human. He'll be joining us every single wednesday this season for a nice coach up chuck segment where we will ask him about situations. That coaches a found themselves in the thought of some coaches and he told us the other day. He's looking to get a job with anybody anymore. So fucking chuck chuck. He'll join us in the second hour. Also your phone calls on the five orange fell nine one eight three three four mcafee. We cannot wait to hear you. The toxic table is here at schmidt. Day was awesome era tuesday. It's back it feels like football season again. I am ready for sunday. I am so goddamn excited. It's awesome just like the first couple of aaron rodgers tuesday's last year. A lot of people said like this is terrible. What are we doing why we doing this so new people that maybe didn't experience aaron rodgers tuesday last year got a chance to experience this year and they still have the thought of this prima picker. Whatever a lot of there's tweets yesterday because there was like forty thousand people watching at one point yesterday day after labor day season hasn't even started no deal checking on the people's numbers when they go live that's awesome. They're helping us out though because big deals they're signing is inevitably going to make our deal colossal but there is a legend obviously incredible football winning sits down and chats with us. I feel like we learned so much mentally. He seems to be it seems stay was last year which was body feels good. He's happy he's at easy. Enjoys matt floor enjoys his teammates. Enjoys the offense and this might be a year where he's saying fuck. Everybody and i can't wait to watch this whole thing. I'm excited for rogers tuesday's. Us an incredible question. Poor yeah well you know. I haven't talked to you a while true. I've said hey listen. I don't want you to throw anybody under the bus or throw. Did you say yeah. I was kind of giving him the out. Hey i'm not expecting you to throw anyone under the bus but a lot of us were hoping you know which by the way is my question tactic it a lot of people say get a bit wordy but then they listen to the show a little bit and like oh this is what he's doing. I'm giving the bullshit can't answer so they can't give it k- so when i ask a question you'll hear me do this and i've done this. My entire life to everybody and people are hated early but then they realized that if you stick with me why i'm doing it. I am explaining the answer that he could give just to get out of it. What i'm asking somebody a question. We know that in then i'll go into the bullshit and then i put it on and what you see from some people that maybe you've never been on the show before they'll sit digest that thing and they'll say fuck i can't just say what he just said to give a different answer in. Normally we find that there's a little bit of a deeper answer coming from people right. I think i. I take a lot of pride in how we chat with people. I think we get a lot of out of people. Aaron rodgers yesterday gave us a zen life quotes his mindset breaks down how he feels. I mean it is unbelievable. He is one of these smart humans. I've ever talked to we started fucking book club dispelled a huge rumor. That had been going on for a long time. Now in what was a pivotal piece in the kind of like the fracturing of the relationships never fucking. I am so excited for it. I think. Yesterday last night i was scrolling through the internet and reaction to it and i enjoy it and i am somebody that does you know i look at my mentions like i. I am somebody that goes through. I think you have to by the way. If you're somebody that doesn't how do you have any idea. Pulse of what people were feeling reacting to what you're doing how you're doing it. Maybe a little criticism from people. Now you can't take one tweet and be like okay this person's right but if it becomes a constant maybe it's like all right. Maybe i gotta look at your little now. We don't work for a network. Obviously i assume the executives and a suits tell people that for me. It's just. I'm going to listen to the people you know yesterday's reaction. We sold fuck books. Yesterday i nine. I don't know the depths of a lot of shows. We fucking moved books yesterday. That's what i saw on twitter. People were screen. Shotting the alchemist. The author put it up. I think actually path and we're going to be releasing shirt for the aaron rodgers book club. Obviously that is very elementary design. We please it together as quickly as possible..

"Foot driving sleeping method. You use behind the wheel first off. I never have attempted to sleep while driving his happened inadvertently. And i'm usually very on top of it and try to change out if i have all okay so as soon as you start feeling it. You're saying series. The son starting a little bit too good a beautiful view. I somebody else. Is that what happens. Usually they actually. They'll let me know. Oh yeah you're good about. It likes to drive so she's always driving anyway. But if i'm with somebody else they'll usually notice a man like i know you. This is not going to end well. So there's no now you look at the clock. See the sun the hell out here. It's five oh. Three can't imagine your swerving into oncoming traffic. It's hey apec yesterday that sean o'malley showed you that video. I didn't say the time. But i'm watching them like that's the time you your outright. That is your achilles right there. That is your drive achilles. That beautiful sunset the time before. It's completely gone but it has disappeared ill least by half Let's talk about your friend. K. 'cause i just seen a tweet. Somebody sent me a tweet and you know. I don't know if real or not. But i assume people are tweeting me. You know telling the truth about this type of thing. Colin cowherd just said Talking about the aaron rodgers situation he said jay hawk said that this was mandible or something like that. Now obviously you've been an insider for the insiders on this aaron rodgers situation not as deep inside his miles teller but really close there. I think you and you and talk. Atari could be in a tie for in coon as well. What are you hearing this morning. Adam schefter said on get up. He's strong as hell his convictions. Right now more just as much as he was before bothered demovsky. Espn green bay. Packers aren't nothing changes okay. he's still there. He doesn't matter of mandatory now. Have you heard anything in disease. Mandatory minicamp anything at all in your eyes in a grand scheme of things. No mentor minicamp zero. I would have been out. Have been very surprised if he actually came wi with everything going on. What's he gonna come because he's worried about being fined ninety three thousand dollars. That's something that will get erased. If he does come back in they work out a contract. Like that's nothing it's not gonna happen. Do you think there's anything to them either. Choosing to find him or not find him the ninety three thousand dollars in a public display of. Hey we're trying to do everything we can. Do you think that means anything i mean. I don't think it would help. If you apply the fine know. No i think this is the first time where he's going to have to write money now if they get a deal done if they get a deal done you know. Obviously be apart the. It'd be awesome. If he's on four hundred and fifty million and ninety three thousand dollars that would be. That'd be awesome if that happened but this is the real first time where it's not future earnings. You know like this is the first time where it's actual money that could in if they wanna baby face the packers they easily go. We're obviously not gonna find for everything he has done for us. We are not gonna find him. He's never missed a camp before. This is the first time we would never do that if they will do that. Then that's really starting to continue to do what they allegedly attempted to do with the accumulation of information that was dropped on draft whenever it was said. They're flying out individually. they're really getting. That would help that whole story. I think personally now. we're also talking about something. That is not a big deal at all. Because it's the only thing talk about the mvp of the nfl potentially being with one of the most historic franchise after what sixteen years or whatever. But that is something. I think that does change this particular situation to what it has been you know well. This is the first time when yet it. The team is back. They're they're they have to be there. It's not a volunteer. He's not there. So i understand why it's a talking point or this is the time when you would think about it because it is very interesting. If you're the packers why in the hell if you really want aaron back what again due to actually give him that fine. What would that. What good does comes from that. You can't say like it's not one of those things where you're like. Hey we're gonna we're gonna punish this guy because he's going to set the tone on everybody else below him and there will also comes after them. No we don't mess around. This isn't one of those situations boys interesting too. Because aaron said he's trying to set the tone for future like how people should be treated in green bay in this situation would be like. Hey you've seen how we treat the this. Is this hour. We treat this guy incredibly will. Let's find them nicer grand. You remember that was that. Could you is agreeing. Get you almost.

It's in development now so thank god rela incredible character to yes. Is that for kids. I don. I don't know what disney killing off parents. It was it was pg thirteen. I paused movie by the way. Yeah immediately upon early death. No spoilers immediately upon early death i paused and i go so this is their fucking thing they just crash everybody don and then it's like all right now that we got him feeling like that now will do something and by the way as i watch movies all bad. Play not play. Disney's made a lot of money off of that thing That's not the only news happening. Not as though i did watch crew. Great movie antacid his job emma. Yeah yeah there was a couple of scenes where i thought i was doing too much here. But the ritual ritual crush rushed walter. He's so good unbelievable. Corolla was you're right. That was a great character. I mean. Greg stohr i mean it was good op notch. Not something i normally get into at all. I would never watch that. I mean i know like one hundred one all nations. But i was like whatever we watched it and i was like holy shit is great. Yeah this is like the gambit. Get her yeah. Yeah the game at harm. Yeah yeah exactly. there's another thing. There's zero reason for me to watch like that absolutely it. They're not going to do another one. And now. I don't know if i get act like them back into chess either again. You know only say i'm doing it. I'll do it on smackdown. Having dropped the close to close able to open or close to silly. That's his chest play by the way you don't fuck just like me okay. Me and what's her name that we are use. You're seeing that we played. He's eight masters all in the basement. One apartment shitty ass apartment greatest player of all time living in shitty apartment down below the streets of new york or whatever down in down in the system. Calva joel fucking big news around. Not as another not. Obviously not just aaron rodgers. Tom brady blaine gabbert. Back on the field with tampa. Bay buccaneers only know that because it was reported this morning that he was not going to miss the mandatory stuff and it was being reported. Because that's just how it goes unless you're currently in trenched in the middle of a contract battle or situation battle But rich at nfl stride. Okay have reached out to as of this morning to potentially joined show. His camera work here. Getting the first shot of seven times super bowl champion. Tom brady back on the field as tampa bay. Buccaneer is god. Maybe emmy winner. Here's a clip of tom. Brady and blaine gabbert taken five to seven step drops in a rapid fashion blaine gabbert's close to us smooth. Tom brady looking quick inefficient delivering the rock to equipment managers that are standing seven yards away from them. Blaine gabbert with fadeaway screen. Pass while tom does the same looks like they are back in full form to win another super. Rick stroud okay. There's a scout down here Has gone down in tampa. Bay might be earned. That's probably a defensive back coach or maybe linebacker coach. I don't know who that is but it is. It is nine hundred degrees down there. I don't know how anybody's doing what they're doing down on especially with long sleeves but the tampa bay buccaneers entire squad which was once split between two tiers. You're either on team be a cow. Trask who's almost as mentally close as andrew lajoie. Trask and the boys or are you with tom. Gronk blaine leonard. Fournette mike mike evans chris godwin antonio brown oj. Howard scotty miller gut's that's just on the offense aside we just just rattled off the offense anyways to be came on this morning not as and other during shit to talk about when it comes to. Ota's i know people are going to try to make something out of nothing here and there might be a highlight or two but man. None of this means anything. I think actually on the field nothing that can truly be judged or truly garnered in otas can be judged publicly via video. I i think the the meetings are incredibly important. I we'll get to that. Thank you the. Aj brown will will be wearing the number eleven next year. Yeah he's number. Eleven until i retire. Tried to give it up. But he wouldn't take it. Respect will ios going back to eight. Then i assume police said hey new chapter. I'll go back in time. You know before we go forward. Let's take a step back. I'm gonna wear eight. Aj brown said hey. I'll give you eleven. 'cause your own around here he said no no no so now. Aj said if julio and taking my number guess what nobody's taking my number. I'm eleven until i die congrats. Aj gradually zito appreciate heart number low. He as ot as is something though that when it's in meeting rooms what you're learning walk throughs which will never see you know we. We won't see we see individual groups. You know you see position. I think you see some. Maybe seven seven on social media. Let's it out but you don't see the walk through the questions are asked. That's what as is i think. Mostly the practice obviously important to get those reps in. But i think that's not as truly brings to the table. That really can't be you know talked about enough but it's not really an entertaining because you can't get fucking video so it's a little bit we're year. Ot as like different than your training camp like. Was it drastically different than what you would have done in training camp and then like a regular practice. Yeah times much shorter amount of time. You're in there. The practices those dudes a- training camps. I mean it is. I mean it's needed. Obviously because everybody else is doing it. So that's the thing. Everybody has to be on the same set of rules because of it's kind of like a honesty. What sure honor code honor code honor code which you can't say publicly if you're going to rely on it when it comes to something know and i i listen. It's not easy being a mayor. No it is not. It is not easy being a mayor very difficult. It's very very difficult. This guy here in indy knowstone turned you know yesterday. He publicly announced that it will be like an honor code on if you've got a vaccination or not a lot of people have used the honor code for a long time. You know what they don't they don't tell people that they are using the honor code because then you you're potentially dishonoring the honor code exactly because people know that it's the honor. Honor toads like fight club. You know what i mean. Can't talk about it can't do it. That's actually an honor code fight club..
Bears announce coach Matt Nagy, GM Ryan Pace will return after 'impressive' finish to 2020
"Apparently matt nagy is going to make it to next year. The bears are gonna keep him the head coach. The general manager ryan pays. Who may have been more maligned than nagy. Decline the fifth year option trubisky. But it's still an option to bring him back in some way our jeff dickerson who covers the bears is essentially reporting. Nagy and pace will be back. Our dan orlovsky is voicing his opposition. What has matt nagy done as for his a an organizer as far as a leader as far as a person with foresight within their organization to say yes in that head coaching role. We love them. Now we're going to allocate some of the play calling responsibilities or the offensive viewpoint. Who are we going to give that to. And what has matt nagy done within. That building approve on great in this role. I understand what dan is coming from. But i think in this situation. He has a winning record. Chuck pagano is retiring as a defense coordinator so he's got to his staff and his thought process in his thinking. Maybe there's a guy or two out there that is really good at calling. Plays really good at putting a system in place to make. Whoever the quarterback is going to be in the future for them successful. So i'm okay with them taking a look see. They just went to the playoffs. So you take a look in just poo. poo it. because you've got to restart things all over again when you completely blow everything up so give it a shot in twenty twenty one see where it's at. He's going to be before you make that decision and that move now mr bisky mitch. Trubisky is jockeying for position to come back and be the chicago. Bears starting quarterback again. Now maybe there's a small deal there because they didn't pick up the fifth year option. There's a small little deal. Maybe there's a two year deal. That is a proven deal that he can now show with a new office coordinator his abilities that he showed in north carolina and made them take him as a number two pick overall.
What are Chuck Pagano's plans for the Bears defense?
"Now Chuck Pegado he replaces Vic Fazio who went from Chicago to Denver. He is the new defensive coordinator of depth buyers trademark me your thoughts was well. This is the one that this this instigated the article <hes> thinking about Chuck Pagano because you lose Vic Fangio. Who is I think along with Wade Phillips the most most respected affected defensive mind in the game right well bill belichick sort of on an island up there by himself but you know throw in Romeo Coronel is another guy who's respected but we don't really we know what Chuck Pagano is? He had one year defensive coordinator with the Ravens where they finished third in defense with Ray Lewis Ed Reed Terrell suggs and then he went to the the colts and he never really had much town to work with on defense now he's token over a defense that is almost sure to regress to the mean just because they had a sky a high turnover rate loss very few games to injury last year and cannot and fifteen percent of drives with an interception like they did last year especially especially That defense every week to make up for their offense. I felt like an if you're if you're in the situation Pagano. You're going to get blamed from their earliest part of the season. It doesn't go well. Why would I want to take over some for someone who floundered before me you come in and you look on the other hand when you have a chance to work with Cleo Max Akiem Hicks Roquan Smith Dan Danny I mean they're absolutely loaded Jackson Kyle? They are loaded and yet. I think it's a tough spot to go to for for Pagano.

"And Ryan, right. You get it. Ladies and gentlemen, joining us now is a man who's been a head coach for the Buffalo Bills. He's been a head coach for the New York Jets. He's been a defensive coordinator all around the world. He's a legend. He's an ESPN personality. He's a guy that I enjoy immensely and Kelly to chat to ladies and gentlemen, Rex Ryan. Can I like to sit up here? You got a little heat going. Atlanta's this cold reason, Rex I'll tell you what we had no heat yesterday up here while we're setting us up for the first time code is ball's did not expect it in Atlanta. There's zero southern hospitality from other nature move forward. I have a question for you. What is your football philosophy? Every time. I hear you talk about football ESPN in all your interviews. It's like it's a game. That's physical. But a lot of fucking fun. I believe is what you try to pitch basically pretty much in. It's funny because I was reading the other day a guy that worked was a secondary. Coach for me. Just got the bears Stevens, Gordon job Chuck Pagano. And he said, it's my guy, you know, kill philosophy. Dude. You flat stole. That's exactly right in. But that that's kind of it because you know, that kiss philosophy that that was for somebody else. But to me, it's the, you know, but that that's really what it is in and get after it enjoy it, and yeah, it is it's a fiscal brand of football. You know, I grew up. My dad always said that a big hit with would change momentum of a game in anything and in his truth. Whether you're punters running down the field smashing, so. Know like, but it's it's the truth. Like, it's and I think that's the way the game still played. And I know look there's a lot of different rules. All that stuff. You can't, you know, take somebody's head off anymore, but you can still be fiscal. And and I think for the most part the most physical team went are you trying to get back into coaching. There's been a lot of rumors that you're getting back out top to Chuck last week. Right. I was very lucky to play for Chuck watch them, go through came as just an incredible human. I think he looks up to you a lot too. So it's he's a great guy. But talking to him he said he knew like a week out of coaching that he wanted to get back into it after he left the colts. It was like a week where him and Tina they're getting a little antsy. He was around the wife too much. She was getting sick of it. He said I need to get back with now. He's with the bears. Are you kind of feel that same way, whereas the helping you a little bit? No, it helps me a little bit. I have a son that's coaching with the chargers. So I get my fix that way. My brother just got back in with the Redskins. So that helps but there's no scoreboard and in one I do right now. And it's tough. When you've been competing all your life. And you know, thirty years I spent as a coach so yeah, you definitely miss the locker room. You miss, you know, the competition in you know, so that. Yeah. I I definitely miss it. And I was tempted to come back in. But for whatever reason nobody called me. Know what it is man. That was what's so funny? Like, I get a lot of them. I mean had one about college or, you know, some always he's interested. He's going, you know, he wants a job at Miami. I'm like what? Now, take the doll. I want to go to the hurricanes Luis and Ed Reed. Yeah. You know? So to me, I got a pretty good gig right here do well. By the way, I feel like whenever you're doing your press conferences as you kind of. I mean, you teabag the entire league when you came in you became the instantly. The most undertaking human in the NFL, you became a face almost the NFL for most must see these jerks fans. TV though, anytime you got in front of a microphone, so I imagine ESPN's very excited to have you have you felt comfortable in it. Have you had is there a learning curve to being a TV guy? Like there was a learning curve. Like when I first went in there. My gosh, I never want to do it..

"And meanwhile, like another guys out the door. He so he went through GM's, he went through head coaches. He basically every time someone said there was a moment where they voted on who should be the next head coach, and it was five to one that should be Sean McDermott and who's now coach of the Buffalo Bills. And the one was Jimmy has them saying he wanted Hugh Jackson. They hired you Jackson. They Hugh Jackson got fired and said get the fuck out of my office. That is a power move our move. So I agree with you Jimmy comes into his office and says you've lost the team, you're fired. And then he goes get the fuck out. I think you gotta give them another week at that. Yes. You know, what like more team should incorporate the fake firing into their motivational tactics. Yeah. Coaches due to players all the time. They're like the cut your ass. Hugh freeze member who freeze for he L funeral for himself. That's right football. Chuck Pagano in. He basically got fired then he made him cry. And then he got to stick around. Now. Chicago Bears defense coordinator who already dropped the standard as the standard. So you love defense is a good hands. So back to the Browns. The there are two remarkable parts of the story. The first one for me was Jimmy has them sitting in meetings, eating hard, boiled eggs and throwing the shells on the ground. Well, like conversing in the meeting in and actively talking and listening, and then actually know there was a moment where they said he would eat hard boiled eggs, he would actively participate and then occasionally fall asleep, right, which one is he was treating like a paleo version of Lone Star steakhouse the just flow throw it on the ground. Yeah. He's he's very wishy washy was a term for it. So he's had like six direct reports. And so it's basically whoever talks to last right is the way decisions. That's how it works. You wanna be the last talk to Jimmy and you'll save your job. Yeah. And sasheba. Brown who hired to basically blow the whole thing up. Did all this incredible research like we're gonna make an analytical team talk to Paul pedestrian talked Feo. Epstein all these guys who've done these great rebuilds and hired Sashi Brown and said such said I need for years, and then he fired him to your syndrome, which is so classic. What the big story. The the most hilarious. The most Browns thing ever. Let's read it direct. Okay. Because it needs to be read directly here coz the outside. Anger was felt inside the building marketing executives wanted employees to see how fans were engaging with the Browns on social media. So they projected the Browns feed onto a giant wallet facility. It was like broadcasting talk radio over the entire building and one day in particular. It was worse than that. One of the marketing staffers entered a search for hashtag DP dogpound. The problem was that hashtag carried a few different meanings. One of which trigger. Array of porn to be broadcast onto a wall for the entire office to see for more than twenty minutes until tech and play killed the feet. Yeah. Listen, that's listened. That is very quite a central Brown's hashtag DP. I think we all know where that comes from. Hey, are you wear double penetration? Big porn guy. I actually didn't know guys next thing next. We'll walk into our studio those double penetration. Yeah. I I actually I that was the funniest part of the story because incredible. And it has nothing really do has them. It's just of of like, that's what was happening to the browser organization. All the time except the Steelers and the ravens, and and I have a theory with with organizations like this because the cubs to be kinda like this as well where if you when things go bad, they just snowball to a point where all the little things like no one would ever hear of this. If it was any other organization when it's all the little things add up, you just have these comedy of errors that you can't get out of your own way. And it's like. This is a somewhat minor mistake. But because it's the Browns put on a spotlight and like, oh, yeah. They had you know, a couple of Dicks in a few holes while people were just standing walking to the Browns facility. This is something I could absolutely see happening to the Redskins to that type of. Right. Exactly. And then that might happen somewhere else..

"To six on ESPN, Chicago our vision for this defense is to be the best. We'd be the best in the history of the game. This is where they're now continue to add pieces. Can we be better than last year? Absolutely, very very difficult and be a huge challenge. But one that we're all up for. Even said, can they be the greatest of all time? Isn't there by that? We're gonna play where he discussed that audio man. Yeah. That was the short version of that one. Yes. Okay. References can they it's possible? Look anything's possible goals. Yeah. Goals are good Chuck Chuck Pagano today. There's new defensive coordinator at the higher. Visit. This was good. He was talking about what drew him to the bears and yet at ten o'clock press conference. We carried it live. So if you wanted to hear the press conference, just go on the podcast cap show, and we've got the press conference on there. But this is Chuck Pagano about when he knew this was going to be the right fit meeting. Matt Nagy nagging everyone. This is his experience right away from the minute that I walked into this facility. I think it was on the eleventh of January and started meeting with them. You know, we always talk about culture each strategy, and the culture that he's built and the man that he is and the person that he is the father all those things it was so authentic, and and so genuine people business and coach is all about people, and he's all about relationships, and you just a football coach, he's just a normal normal guy. And it's everything. That ever wanted and more. So it was. Brian Bowles amend. Those were the two guys that I spent the most time with obviously mo- most was coach Nagy. No connection Xs and os aside, excuse me. He's just a phenomenal person on again. It was the family history. This organization a family all that stuff makes us such an attractive attractive job. Feel like luckiest man in the world right now. How about that? I feel like the luckiest man in the world right now. Ambi cancer, right? Yeah. I think he also said over the course of the press conference Dini that he had no desire to be a head coach again, this is what he wants to do. He wants to be a DC. He said there was a time in Indy. There would be some times where he'd be like, man. I just wish I could coach again, he's like I don't want to be in charge of this. And that I just want to coach players. That's what I that's one of the things I've always wondered about Vic will Vic and will maybe Vic will enjoy all the other answer Larry stuff that goes along with being a head coach. But we'll we'll Vic have the same response at some point. You know what I mean? Sure. So, but you gotta try. Understand why someone of course, have your own program. So Chuck Pagano. This is a little bit about a little bit more about the the the bears defense in what they have. And how good can they be in a little bit of the version that we played back coming back from break. Gyna- talking more about the defense, and how great they can be our goal, and our mindset will be to come in here and give better every single day. We'll be intentional and we'll be delivered with everything that we do. And the coaches will come up with a prescription. Just like you go the doctor, and you you're sick. And he writes your script for something. We'll give these these players every one of them a prescription, you know, it'll be just three precise Dench. Thanks. We can get better physically. Mentally knowing understanding a game knowing understanding the playbook the calls. The opponents guys will grow guys will become better pros. Get better off the field. We'll get better on the field. It's going to be a beginner's mindset. Stink of what Phil Jackson. Said to the balls every year championship after championship after championship. And having Michael haven't skied in all those players. He always talked about him one of his books coming in with a beginner's mentality. Coming into the meeting like at your rookie year. So asking Danny trevathan to come in and and treat this like a rookie season sat there and watched Ray Lewis in Baltimore. That I was there and seventeen years of a hall of fame career, obviously. And he would come in. And we'll challenge these guys to come in. And no, Pat out. Plugged in. Be where your feet are is a is a slogan and a term that we'll talk a lot about being gauged being present. And the simplest of calls. They've heard tight will six here for forever and ever. So when we put in tight, we'll sex and we put in under sixty three whatever it is. If you've been here nine ten years you've been there one year, take a beginner's mindset and a beginner's mentality and you're writing down every single detail note. You know, what's what's my what's my my linemen? What's my Simon? What's my key in which my technique, and it's got to be that simple and that clean. And so that that that's what will will challenge. All these guys within our vision for this defense is to be the best the best in the history of the game. This is now continuing Ed pieces. Can we be better than last year? Absolutely. Very very difficult and be a huge challenge. But one that we're all up for there you go. He. Yeah, you're excited. Yeah. I think it's a nice listen it's tough to say about it Vic because Vic was was an excellent coordinator and fit so well with what they were doing. But I think this is seamless of a transition as you could have asked for don't know what you mean JD joined us earlier. Ultimately, what destiny will be hard to think that they'll be able to recreate some of the lofty stats that they created on that side of the football. But I do expect the transition to be a fairly seamless. Yeah. Losing Vic Fangio's never something. You wanna do? But maybe they landed on their feet with Chuck Pagano high expectations for sure let's get some gambling info from Todd Furman right now. Time.

"Remains to be seen. But good first impression today at house holiday. I agree with you look at one of the positives from last year from a zoom out and look at their structure was the first time head coach who specialty is offense and he's wants to develop this very close relationship with the young quarterback. His time is going to be consumed by doing the offense of part of the work here. How great is it to have this accomplish defensive coordinator, you can basically just decided to give all control the defense to that guy. I think you have a similar situation with Chuck Pagano. Is you had with Vic Fangio, so the segue away from Vick who's fantastic had his job to Chuck Pagano? Who's also very good at his job. I mean, I'm not going to suggest to it's completely seamless. But it's it's about as seamless as it could be a lot of people say, well, how good was defense in in Indy. Visit along time defensive assistant coach or coordinator in Baltimore longtime defensive backs coach sort of reminds me of the rod mirror. Nellie dynamic. Now. Eat a longer run as head coach than Rodman Manelli dead in Detroit when he had that awful team. But look rod merely Nellie wasn't degrade head coach. And he's been a really good defensive coordinator coach for the bears in the now the Cowboys for long run is nice higher for them really doing. I think they again, I don't know that it will be a one hundred percents seamless. There will be expectations. The cupboard is full. There are great players on that side of the football expectations are there. But boy, it felt it felt smooth feels like a smooth transition before we get to JD I have two questions free on the George mccaskey interview. He was just inside our first mid West Bank studio. Do you believe again? Again, like, even though he said look Ryan pace, and and more specifically Matt Nagy just explained about a personal call with cream on a relationship that they've had. But again like no door was closed in this. Do you agree with that? Yeah. I think that as time as it was the NFL and other entities are dealing with this very difficult concept. I think people's opinions evolve as well. I thought what we heard from? Theo Epstein was very revealing when we talked to him last Friday, which you mentioned about the. Being the event at a safe place up north that the bears are very involved both hands on and financially. Yes. And the concept of second choices in every situation has to be looked at individually and a desire to want to become a better person and sincere contrition, and when you factor that all in. I don't think I guess the point of Meghan is is I don't think that the bears have my reputation was they don't have a hard and fast rule. No. If you we're not a if you have a domestic violence issue in your past, however, big or small, it is we just don't have a policy. We don't have a set policy. I guess that was my interpretation. We don't have a zero tolerance policy. Correct. Which would be a set policy. Yes. That will look at all of these situations. Individually to me, again, my preference, not telling you, you should feel or anyone else should feel. That's the that's the. Avenue that I go down as well that you look at all these things individually, you talked to all of the experts and you deal with everything in an individual basis. And if the experts say there's contrition this person has gone through the process of trying to become a better person. And we we we recommend that you give him a second chance. Then I'm gonna lead I'm gonna let those people lead the way not me, you know, so. You know, I think the I think the bears mind transportation is is the bears would be open to this situation based on how would transpire and really quick as one listener put at George basically pooh-poohed the overtime thing and the flag being review. -able? Do you believe hearing that from one of thirty two owners that more owners will have his sort of take no rule will be chain? I think he will you saw the co-. The catch rule was took forever to change. My guess is the majority of them feel the same way. Well, how are we really going to be able to do to Kate this? How are we going to be able to do this subjectively and smoothly? And my guess is is also the the overtime. My guess is. They're not going to be a change in on either front with these particular items that I will say, you know, going back on what you ask. I thought it was re revealing that look they don't have a hard and fast rule. Dealing with Kareem hunt or anybody else in the domestic violence front to to be continued. This story is gonna play out in may play out right here in Chicago. Let's get to JD right now covered. The Chuck Pagano press conference..
Ex-Steelers OC Bruce Arians says Antonio Brown isn't same player Pittsburgh drafted
"Of Antonio Brown. And he was the offense coordinator at one point in time before leaving Pittsburgh. And then joining the staff of Chuck Pagano in Indianapolis, and then becoming the colts interim coach as he battled cancer Picado dead and successfully thanked out and it became the Arizona Cardinals head coach. And now as the town. Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach. And that is Bruce Arians who said that he would not be interested in in Antonio Brown that he's too much of a diva. Antonio Brown is is not the same player. That the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted not physically we're talking about. Now. We're talking about everything else that comes along with Antonio Brown. Besides his ability to help you out and special teams and catch the football as an NFL wide receiver. Yeah. You know, Arians, basically said he's heard a lot of stories about as recent how he is speaking of Antonio Brown. And he said he plays as hot as anybody on Sunday. He practice really hard to. But you know, he's he's basically said as a paraphrasing. He's got him. He totally Brown's gotta make better decisions off the field as far as his punctuality and stuff like being being on time and whatnot. That's we said, so it's pretty interesting new head coach, you know, you've been in the broadcast booth for a year your new head coach of the box. This guy's a Steeler kinda. And I honestly coached them. It's you know, it's interesting to hear him say that about him. So it doesn't sound like Brown be going to Tampa Bay anytime soon. No. It doesn't sound like that. And that's the concern. I mean, you know, you can listen to every former NFL player, whether it be Jerry Rice and others say that he wants to be a San Francisco forty nine or that's great. I may it's great. And I do we both are in agreement TASR that Antonio Brown's gonna get traded this off season by the Pittsburgh Steelers. OB fascinating the team that he does go to am. I telling you that he's a losing player. Antonio Brown can help you in football games. But I will say that there's a lot of headaches now Brown and distractions. Yeah. Great point that Antonio Brown brings to the table that I don't know if there's a lot of NFL head coaches that are going to go out and look to embrace it. I really do. And that's the issue. I have with Brown is I don't want to deal with the nonsense. I really don't as Aaron said, you know, there's the little things that he doesn't do shop to shop to practice on time show up to meetings on time. You know, you're asked to run a hot return a walk-through run the run the hot read. What are you? What are you doing here? I mean, come on. Exactly nervous. I understand what you thought. I was going. I remember where it was funny. I mean, honestly, I it's not that difficult to it's not that difficult for Antonio Brown to handle his responsibilities. Yeah. I completely agree. I've never heard that before I was refunded. Agree with you to moves by. Yeah. Yeah. It was great. Yeah. Man. You know, I think you're going to get some coaches that are that will some teams that will wanna take that chance because how talented these days. We've all in all careers separately. You and I coming up in in all world separately. Right. I'll separate worlds. I'm sure you've come across the state me. All you've heard of guys that you may be going to do business. What guys or girls that you're going to do business? What that you've heard a lot of negativity about. And what's the first thing you said yourself? Well, I okay. This person's talented. I'm going to judge them for once. I get to know them. You give them that. You know what? I mean. I, you know, my wife always taught my son that you might hear things about someone judge them. I from how you judge them. Okay. Take defamation here. But a lot of times it could be hearsay on the advice. It is with this guy here. It's been a like him himself. He's combustible. He's tweeting stuff. Meaning it's Brown. He's been doing a lot of stuff. He's creating he's adding a ton of gasoline to these little fires that war with the Steelers in Hammond Tomlin. So if you're another coach, my point is that I do think some of the coaches or a coach will say, okay. This guy's really talented. He's a superstar. He's going to put as we going to put people to seats in the building. Okay. And and these stadiums role big he's a draw. He's going to draw people. He's a star. I so we've heard all this bad stuff about them. Just like Erin said, I've heard the stories a younger coach hypothetically might say. Well, I wanna to take that chance. I've heard the stories too. But I'm going to judge Antonio foot for what what I see we're going to take a chance on him. And that's what then you gotta hope for the best because he's gonna end up somewhere. Most you know, he's just too damn. And that's a fair way to fair way to look at it by also think that if you're having issues with a player friendly coach, Mike Tomlin, see, I I think there are guys that can't work and play for Bill Belichick. I think there are guys that can't work and play for other disciplinarians like a go back a couple years go back years ago. Bill Parcells right there. There are guys it just it just doesn't work. Now, if you can't play for a guy like Mike Tomlin, who's bent over backwards to placate you over the course of your career as you've changed with the success as your personality is changed with the money. All of that is well deserved because it's earned. I'm not talking about his personality all the money that comes his way. Tasr? I also have to look at that. Same of you have issues with Mike Tomlin, what the hell are you gonna do here? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, Mike cobblers a really is he's apprentice coach player friendly code. But there will he will be playing in the National Football League next year, you'll be making seventeen eighteen million dollars a year. God bless, but there's there's a lot. There are other guys as Bruce Arians said, I think there are a number coaches to say, I don't want daddy. Deal with that. I don't want that toxic person in your locker room. That's what you don't want. You know, you don't want that. Like, I'm a bills fan as you guys know, and I I love all young quarterback. And if we gotta Antonio Brown. I think that'd be amazing. Be awesome. But I would worry that he would like inadvertently mess. What the Josh out? I would worry about that. And I think that's a fair fair concern. But I think that a lot is coaches will judge him. For what they think and and meet with him Suez heads out, and let's just I just play a little bit on Antonio Brown side. He's been with the same organization right out of college. Right. So seven eight years, whatever it is sometimes difficult to paint. Sometimes you you'll be in better behavior. When rental the people a change of change of environment sometimes could help, and maybe that's what he needs, and maybe things will change. And may maybe

"For. There you go. There's Matt Nagy about Chuck Pagano, the new defensive coordinator who people rave about. Yeah. No. He had a lot of success is defensive backs. Coach Baltimore he was there. Oh DC for one year. And they were very very good as players who have played for him rave about him. I I mean, how could you are you with this hire more than a solid hires? A former head coach in league Dalton bears official tweeted me, and he said why are you trying to stir stuff up that ain't there because they said Pagano is more aggressive now. There was some kind of an issue with Fangio stop it. I'm not telling you. There was any issue with Fangio. I'm just my belief is my from watching the bears play fourth quarter defense knowing what Vic Fangio's blitzing style is the way Nagy raved about Pagano in the release. And today is that they would like to ratchet it up a little bit more. That's by believe, I'm not stirring, anything up. Maybe I'm wrong. I'll ask GED and I'll ask Dan Wieder about that. But Vic Fangio the book on him has always been as a defensive coordinator, one of the least blitzing DC's in the National Football League. Yeah. I got home what forty times this year? They got got to the quarterback. I think they tied for third or fourth and sacks this year. They were obviously the best in the league taking the ball away. I didn't think that they had to blitz quite a bit. And remember when you don't blitz you can drop an extra player into coverage at times. So some years you blitz more than others. But yeah, I think that the book has always been that Vic is more conservative with his approach than say someone like Pagano. Let me play the Cody parkey stuff because I think a lot of people thought that we talked on Friday. I thought they would come in and they wouldn't to drag Cody parkey through the mud the day. Would they would just let their actions do the talking when they released them? We all believe that they're not bringing Cody parkey back. But when we got word that the press conference was Monday, I thought pace in Nagy would both come out and just say, look we're gonna handle the personnel decisions. When the new league year starts, and there's a lot to evaluate. We're a week away from when we were just eliminated. So it's all very fresh to us. And I thought they want to touch the this stuff from the today show, but they made it known. Cody parkey and what they thought about him. Here's Matt Nagy. I found.

"One two three three two three seven seven six. Dan, doc. It's my guy from Indianapolis. Former Indiana Hoosier killing it in India and also all over the college basketball world joins me now because Chuck Pagano is now the bears defensive coordinator former colts head coach, Danny boy what's going on kit. Apple app. You caught me in the middle of a workout listening to a oh little no vacillating by my man, I cube and I'm in good shape. I'm brothers role. Thanks nice. Love it. So Chuck Pagano is our guy. Should we be fired up? I mean, I hate to say it, but great guy number number one all time. Great guy, never really built a defense your cap, and quite frankly that was very disappointing because he came with the defensive background. He came with as a guy that you know, with the ravens was a defensive guy never built it here. Very conservative. I don't think his blitz rates are anything special. I think that with the talent that they have very it'll be a good defense. No matter who's there, but four cliches I'll be interested a year from now what people think you're going to hear chopping wood building the monster iron sharpens iron. And every silly coaching increase say the pig is more invested all this kind of silly stuff. Biggest never built a defense here. He he just never did. And he went through coordinator's three four defense kind of basic always talked about when they got a new coordinator with him together. They were gonna put this blitzing together and be aggressive and usually they were a little bit preseason. And then it all went away. No. I mean, I not just I like Chuck a lot Chuck was great. But if you're gonna if I'm gonna come on your show, I gotta be honest and the defensive schemes we're called high school by guys a coach longtime in the NFL that a friend of mine, and it was disappointing. Okay. When he is that on him. Or is that on the GM that you had at the time who wasn't bringing in the talent. Or was he given talent and did a poor job with it. Well, I think it's both. I don't think there's any question. But here's the one thing that again, people that I trust have always said tap, the nobody got better. And it was amazing this year. We've talked about all the time with every single person around here that had coached with the colts over the years. And you know, how guys got better this year? This the seer on the corner. Kenny more all that kind of stuff. But we got better under Chuck. I'm not saying it's all on Chuck look he's the head coach he's not defensive coordinator. And he wasn't the GM. And you can certainly the narrative is correction didn't bring him any talent. And that's whether that's true or not who knows. But I do know. This guy's just did not get better. And there was nothing. Interesting. You know, but, but let's be honest. You got talent right there. I mean, you got you got you got Wilbur Marshall one two and three. I mean, you got guys. Yep. So you know, I'm sure it'll be a good defense. But I'm just telling you history. I'm just giving you the history here. And I as I say. Said I really really liked Chuck if you don't like, Chuck that's on you. But it was disappointing. Defensively. It really was the reason that the colts have turn this thing around as quickly as they did is why. Well, I think Andrew lucked being back, and I think to really good draft choices change the interior culture. Like Chuck had no accountability. And Chuck in your, you know, it goes cab. You coats, things always come out after the fact I like playing for. But then all of a sudden it's like where it's great to have accountability in the locker room. It's great that we hit in preseason. But the but the GM here Chris Ballard brought in two guys quitting Nelson. Who is first team? All pro apparently, you know as a guard at six picking a draft people criticize them in various Leonard who probably be the defensive rookie of the year. Copy. They changed the cut the culture to toughness, and again, I go back to pick out. That's where people were most disappointed. There wasn't really a toughness element tackling was back. 'cause apparently, you know Chuck didn't wanna hitting the preseason. He didn't wanna hit it hardly ever. He was really coddling up the players, and again cap, you know, this when you coach once a guy leaves man everybody then wants to talk, right? So now, all of a sudden you here man, so nice that we worked on our technique. It's so nice. If this year we worked on tackling, blah, blah, blah, blah. And that was kind of an indictment on shock, quite frankly. And whoever he brought in as defensive coordinator with them because I think he went through three. In looking at your colts team. I know they started off slow but boil boy today get rolling then ran into a buzzsaw the other day looking back at Saturday's game. Are you Dan dockage surprised it went down like that? Or now, they ran out of gas in DC ran up against a really good team. No, I'm surprised, and I'm gonna say this on my show coming up to twenty twenty five minutes, my listeners or a lot of my listeners were right. They were worried about a performance like we had in the middle of the run against Jacksonville where they lost six to nothing where press coverage happy couldn't get away from press. Coverage quick offer excuse me defensive front. Are we saw this kid Ford whip breaking Smith for a sack we saw the same thing with the Jack? I thought they were beyond re cap. I really did. I I'm not gonna lie. I watched him play. I watch your speed of core. I watch the athletes athleticism and Lux connection with t y Hilton and others. And I thought you know, what? Make it be. But they're not going to have a bad performance. They had a terrible performance. They had a performance that is reminiscent of back when they were one in five or or the one loss they had in the streets happy and that was against the Jaguars. It was bad. And it surprised me to no end. It really really did. I thought they would be much better Mahomes might beach because Mahomes, damn good. But I think he would beat you that easy. And I didn't think the cultural go down. There was so many mistakes. Yeah. I I watched that game thought. Wow. And they just they had their way with them. They were never ever out of control that surprise me. Yeah. And know how it goes last week. Playoff game. I first possession. Third and twelve TY helps makes a great over the shoulder. Catch completely shuts up the Texans fan. I mean, the place is going nuts. All right. I play this game third and three pass ez pass over the middle. Eric Hebron, drops it. Now, the place is going nuts. And you know, how that goes cap. I mean, it's not always the play at the end of the game that be it's the play that ignite things, and I just a simple play like that two weeks ago. Really went a long way to helping the colts get off to a great start and a bad play like that yesterday. And then you got Terry missing the shortest kick of his career. You gotta miss an extra point. You've got offensive line that every time something went well are they held it was a complete meltdown. And I'm giving you the colts side of it from the other side of it. I if I was Kansas City. I just say we were simply a better football team that beat a team that wasn't good. Now. What's the next step? They've got to take because I look at our. Bears Trubisky has to take the next step. He had a really good, you know, back half of his season. I thought he really showed a lot of progress. But he's got to take the next step. What are the colts have to do? You. Don't care. They have cap space. They're going to have a over one hundred million. We have good young talent. But. Just take the bears defense. How many playmakers run up bears defense? The answer is a fun trade ally colts off. Yeah. Colts offense, if we don't have enough playmakers, and they don't have enough in the defensive back from Lee Hooker went out. And this is one thing about it was so funny when me cooker was drafted by the colts with dollars like the first draft. Cookers on the phone with the Gano. Donald like, you're going to be the next day. I've read your the neck and Ballard literally with media. They're just relax. Let's let's just this is relaxed here. He's good football player. But relax. Anyway, but cooker was out colts defensive backfield. Help coach need another playmaker or two on the offensive side because you know, this cab got a great quarterback which everybody tells me luck is you gotta surround them with weapons and T Y Hilton was banged up. The other guys are okay. But you gotta give them weapons. You gotta give them a bunch of guys Brown. I am of the belief that in the NFL you don't win with choirboys. Right. Tonio brown. Bring wavy on bell at one of the big offensive lineman. Smashing into miles when they get out of hand. And let's go. Yeah. You don't win voice, man. That's an asset sport play by absolute animals. I mean, wow. Cap. It's a few years ago. Willis mcgahee. He was on the market. And you know, we're sitting here on my show. Got Rickman Terry longtime NFL coach say go get mcgahey people. Like, no, he's not a nice guy. He parts the guy whatever I think it was McCain your nose blunt blunt, Gary. Oh, yeah. The girl blood. So next thing, you know, the blood is playing against the colts in the AFC championship game running for like seven thousand yards and knocking everybody down. Right. And we're like well. Yeah. Go get some talent. I'm all for everything. I'm you know, what it's so much fun as you well know, and I'm embarrassed fan. So I grew like hell for them. And and the calls so much fun anymore in the NFL. When you're cities team is good. Go get guys that are good man as long as they're not deviant criminals. Go get the good players. Yeah. I completely agree with you, the deviant criminals, that's a different story. But you're right. But it's funny. Lou Pinella grabbed me one day after he'd been here a little bit. And we're at a golf charity golf event here. He comes. He's like, hey, I gotta tell you something. You know, what the problem is here? You people wanna like your athletes as people how about getting a couple of B's all I care about is winning. To say this. I used to say there's and and I I I used to say I don't care if Charles Manson play shortstop for the cubs. I just want him to win right? Because when I was a kid they never won. It was like, you know, by first play-off experience with the cubs was nineteen eighty four. You know, what I mean like damn one one time. Can you win something look we don't want. You don't want deviants. You don't want criminals. You don't want abusive. I get I'm totally get on that. But let's talk. Let's go back to, you know, Brown's a pain in the ass. Okay. What's great wide receiver isn't a pain in the ass Levy on bell painting. Yeah. Okay. Which you know, I guess most running backs aren't maybe he he he overstayed his welcome. Maybe both overstaying their welcome. I don't know. But they're gonna and that's when that bell rings on Sunday. They seem pretty good to me man, you like cabinet manure uniform, eight lasting are you surprised by the cubs lack of activity that it was moving heaven and earth to get Daniel discount. So. I'm not only surprised I'm disappointed like, I'm not big on Machado. But I wouldn't mind seeing Harper out here. I mean what you know. Yeah. I am because you cap again, I go back to when I was a kid. It always seemed like the cubs were small market team. And then all of a sudden here comes steel, and we're acting like a big market team. Which I like, right? I always said the guy who understood what he had more than anybody in the world was George Steinbrenner, George Steinbrenner understood where the freaking Yankees, and we're gonna win and we're gonna do whatever the hell it takes to win. And I was kinda hoping that that might be the cubs approach here. Maybe they like what they have. I'm guessing until we trust. But yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing I don't know. Maybe a little Bryce Harper and right. No, look good. Maybe they'll surprise us. And maybe at Jeff passages said to be maybe THEO has just slow played everybody had just said, let me ask you would that surprise you. Yes. Me too. I'd be shocking to I'd be shocked. There's a way to slow play one thing. And to look you in the eye basically lie to your face. I don't believe it you and I both love Jimmy Boylan giving more money give Jimmy Boylan more contract. Give Jimmy Boylan more money. You know, it's funny. Funny that you said that because that's my next topic. Because look if Dan dockets moves some working, whatever your sift is to morning drive. You're going to get paid more money. That's just the way it's done. He was the assistant coach now he's the head coach he's going to get more money, and it's not so much money that they can't move on from if they want the guys out there. And if they're gonna make in the head coach that pay the man. Cathy, I got doubled my salary when I became interim, head coaches, Indiana for seven games, and and I got a whole 'nother year on it. I should ask for three more years. But you know, what? Good. Hey, look, somebody gotta sit in there and take the tanking or whatever it is they're doing so might as well be Jimmy be paid a man to give. Hey, like KGB said give the man his mind. Hey that man his money, exactly. Hey, man, have a good show today. My brother. Thanks for having me here. The best see there. You got my guy. Dan, dockage love him. Anyway, he's right. And we can get into the Jimmy Boylan stuff. But I do wanna play we promised. We'd play it snoop Dogg quiz at the LA kings game the other day, it was so great. I heard him doing hockey. And I immediately sent The Danny and Chris he was already they're already on it. Danny already knew about it. It's gone viral. Now, this is snoop Dogg in the booth at the LA kings game the other night..

"I'm not sure if the bears were playing in the afternoon, or whatever, but I flipped over and saw the saints were playing the eagles, and it was forty one to seven and drew Brees had a fourth down was dropping back to throw to Alvin Kamara. And they said what the hell is going on. And they scored a touchdown and was forty eight to seven was the final these two teams meet again, what do you expect from this one? Do you expect the the eagles to remember what happened there and the last couple of weeks the saints offense seemed to struggle? Do you expect those struggles that continue I don't for them? I don't expect it to look like that for whatever reason this eagles teams omitted the bring in they bring in the reliever Nick foles things change for them around the postseason, but I expected to be closer. Clearly, you heard the comments from Jason Peters and some others. They were very cognizant. Of what was happening or what they thought was going on there with the saints running up the score. But no, I expect the saints offense to home I expect the saints defense to be the difference. And I expect alva- Kamara Mark Ingram to be the mitigating factor when it comes to how you slow down. There's eagles pass rush that has really been the catalyst for this entire run. Obviously, Nick foles has been sensational story back to back postseason, even if it ends now, it's still unbelievable. What this guy has managed to do when he's gotten run at the end of the season. But I look at Fletcher Cox, I look at Chris long. I look at the rest of that defense, and especially the defensive line that's been able to step up to the plate with the secretary has been battered and beaten for the entire season. We know they're on sin bodies back on that end of the field. But that defensive line has been so dominant, especially on the interior where we go pass rushers or at such a premium right now, can you get that on the other side from the saints who when healthy have been one of the better off at the live in the NFL? There's been a lot of change up. On that line for health reasons the times, but when they've got their crew out there I trust that group about as much as any of the NFL. Okay. One last thing we would be remiss if we did not ask you Chuck Pagano comes in is the defensive coordinator, replacing Vic Fangio, what are your initial thoughts? I'm not forgotten coming here in Chicago. Listen, if I'm Chuck Pagano. I am happy. You know, what you handed that guy every tool that you could ever want as a defensive coach we obviously remember his time in Indianapolis. And I think they're good solid coach. But this is one of those situations where you come in. And and certainly Chuck Gano is established enough as a coach he's gonna come in. And he's gonna run things his way we also don't screw too much up like this unit will that turn the ball over at this rate again next year, you cannot count on that as a sure-fire thing. But what you can't count on every level. You've got young players who are either in that first contract or that you've locked up for a little while. And you've got such a strong foundation coming back, and you wanna make sure again that continuity is important don't give these guys too much to think about don't give you guys too much change that ultimately slows them down that keeps them from being the best version of themselves. So Chuck Pagano should be doing cartwheels somewhere. Getting the news that he has the privilege of coaching the bears defense, Mike, we really appreciate jumping you leave Chicago. After a couple of beers, a finding. Experience and your hamstrings are intact. Exactly, no ice hub trips for me, guys. All calling it a win. There you go. Thanks a lot will be listening tomorrow. Thanks awesome. Thanks, Mike Golic junior a nice enough to jump on. And he'll he'll get he'll probably get torched a little bit tomorrow. I mean, look he gave a good good. The worst thing while his dad. Someone would have made it if like ten people would have made it they probably would have been like, dude, right? What what are you doing since? Everybody men's everybody missed and given the elements. I thought he did a good job talking with Todd towards the end the president at goose island, and we're like, so what are you going to do next year? And I suggested we'll every time. A Chicago team loses to just replicate what it is. So if if the bulls lose on a last second three you have to have people come take a three point shot. Okay. The cubs lose by not turning a double play. You have to have people. Come and try to turn a double play. And whatever it is. You just have to somehow keep this going because they've gotten the momentum. You have to build off the momentum of this somehow. We'll just think if they would have had this at the start of the season they would have had people after the game one trying to catch a pass thrown after Kyle fuller dropping interceptions back. Yeah. Hey counselors brother plays for one of the teams last night. Right. Kendall. Kendall fuller. Am I chiefs? I believe. Okay. It was funny because they were they they do the little thing. And they all say their names and everything like that. I looked at it looked. He looked exactly like Yahoo. Yeah. Right. That's why that's why I thought it was him. And it's nice that one of them. Just imagine the nice family. He got he got Bolton both of them in the playoffs. And I know there's another brother to there that can get in played in the very cool. Always fascinating to me. Because it's like if you ever read outliers by Malcolm while like he talks about a like like, how do you get that? Right. Like how do all hockey players? Great hockey players. Come from like one name. Yeah. Part of Canada. Right. It's it's very unique. How that stuff works? It's clearly based on bloodlines, right? Like, how do you get you manning Peyton Manning after Archie manning? Cooper played college football. Okay. Well, why do you have to be that guy? Cooper. How do you think those thanksgiving dinners go it's they're expensive? And he's he's glad that they're treating did you would have paid manning yesterday by the sun. Yeah. Some was there for the for the game. Yeah. His son went down in Rams gear. Right. Yeah. He wore wisely girly in the first half and Donald the second half. He brought to Jersey's change. So you know, that was nice. This is a stat. And I know this is just a guy on Twitter posted it. Trubisky versus Mahomes first playoff game. God this guy. Some guy tweeted me the link. Like the the game ended troopers were calm. I know how to end this. Okay. Read the final scores of both games knows moving on sixteen. Fifteen eagles and thirty thirteen colts. Mahomes was sacked four times at eighty five point two quarterback passer rating if the bears had Patrick Mahomes, they would've seen his passes yesterday. A couple more. One where there was a guy standing in front of him. And he threw it around. It was unbelievable. What's the movie where they curve the bullets when they shoot they? They throw the arm and then they the bullet like curves actress. Sure. What does that move? It was like really cool time natural curve baseball yesterday. It's a baseball movie that old people always. Scott. What's called wanted? Yeah. Patrick Mahomes was. The alternate. The Rick and Morty alternate time line the alternate universe. The bears have Patrick Mahomes, and they won the playoff game. That's what the line suggests. Can we do this? We've got a couple of minutes. Were yesterday that he was hurt. His came down on the helmet of the other guys. Okay. Can we do this for a second? Yeah. Go ahead. All the Trubisky troopers now, listen he was good this year. I agree. He was good. He was if he was better in the playoff game. They probably wouldn't that playoff game. We can get into that. If y'all want to do that. But can we also get to this every person who will feels the need to defend Mitch Trubisky toll until the end of time you ever notice that all they can do is quote, you stats and some of the stats that they quote aren't even relevant. Like, no one's ever saying. Did you see this? I think this. I think that it's always well if you look at this stat he's ranked twelfth in QBR, and he must be the best of all time. And I don't know the the brilliance to sports is that we take the stats. We take our eyeballs we match them together if it matches and they overlap together, and it looks right. Then we say, yeah. That guy's probably pretty good. Not at all times. The eyeball test doesn't match with Mitch. Bisky? And that's where the questions lie. We get it. He has a good completion percent. We get his QBR was fantastic. We understand that the offense to pop the points that they need who gets blamed for that. It's not Trubisky apparently because he has this QBR that I'm unaware of. So like when you want to have the conversation take both put them together. That's why Mahomes is so crazy is because the eyeball test tells us he's probably elite, and he's probably something we've never seen before. And the numbers back it up. Do you think they're comparing if you're gonna compare quarterbacks comparing Trubisky to Gough is better than comparing him to Mahomes absolutely one yesterday when he didn't perform that? Well into a lot of great stuff through a couple of passes over the middle and completions which Mitch is done in the past. Sure, you know, he didn't do anything special yesterday. I didn't think we didn't. Then where some numbers in the sun times. This probably comes to your your point Trubisky. This year improved in every major statistical category from his rookie year. Would you would expect them to do different? Actually throws the ball. Right. And I'm also waiting for the kicker that every every Trubisky supporter has to bring out that's the greatest embarrassed history. Yeah. I don't have that one. But he he didn't draw four games, but three of them could have been. But you know, what they weren't? You can't say, hey, this guy through six almost interceptions. He has the highest what it's called possible turnover rate. So there was that list came out, I believe two weeks ago from it was a pro football, focus. Okay. Ranked the quarterbacks they did their final quarterback ranking, and he was towards the bottom, and they said it was because of probable turnover rate that means is are those almost interceptions those dropped interceptions, those balls that are overthrown underthrown that could be picked basically he he's been lucky because when you are the leader in that category. It means that the defenses are not taking advantage of the mistakes you're making the top because he's got the third best QBR in the league. No is he at the bottom because he has the most intercept probable intercepted rate. No he's somewhere in the middle. This ties into that. By the way, I really liked pro football, focus when it suits me. But I also remember the pro football focus also has age rename us is the best strong safety strong safety to ever play the game. And that is why Fred you are pro football focus truth because. Yeah. Okay. So by. But they're, but they're metrics. Yeah, it's bad. But also Trubisky is also the worst quarterback in the league. Ninety five point four passer rating sixteenth you tried to buy metal sixteen smack dab in the middle. And that's a good stat..

"Four right now thirty at O'Hare thirty at midway twenty eight in floss more thirty along Chicago's lakefront, I'm Bob Kessler in the WGN radio newsroom. And these are the stories that matter on seven twenty WGN you can thank George. I talked to George yesterday. And I said, George can I do the press conference tomorrow and migration sweats. What he calls it. My great business. Should know you can't do that. So he gave me this tide aware. So this ties compliments of George mccaskey. And the Chicago Bears. Congratulations Vic Fangio, I love the story. Sixty years old. Been in the league seemingly forever and finally gets his head as his chance to be a head coach in the NFL going to the Denver Broncos for the bears. But that's awesome for Vic, and you got to appreciate a guy climbing his whole career still looking do it in the sixties and getting's opportunity. That's sweet. Yeah. He he deserves it and he'll be he'll be terrific. So the the bears have now hired Chuck Pagano for coast. Coach had leukemia. Beat it beat it. Leukemia, obviously like cancer, it can come back anytime. Yeah. Chuck strong all of it. And this is the guy that really got a raw deal in Indianapolis. Andrew luck out hurt and the colts got bad. They started losing and begun on. Everybody got fired and he was sought after by a bunch of teams and he chose the bears. I would assume because he likes Matt Nagy? And he thinks he knows that he's going to be coaching defense with a ridiculous amount of talent. Chuck is a guy from my understanding Harry that gets guys to play for him the players love him. Details in being super organized, not necessarily Hispanic. I heard that his light is on from early in the morning till late at night in his office. See that. And that stuff is like what coach is due and they never leave. And they're watching film, and they never go home. They don't see their families. That's kinda stresses me out. Like, you got to have some balance in life. One of my favorite coaches in college basketball, Mark few with Gonzaga. Sure. Incredibly successful program. Oh, yeah. Their rules. Office opens at eight AM. We don't have a game that night closes at six. Go home be with your family. If you want to be here twenty four seven this isn't the job for you. And the rule is make sure half the country mispronounces the name of the town room that to Spokane Spokane Spokane I wish Hogue were here. He'd know how to pronounce it. We're we're we're trying to effort Adam Hoge right now. But while we wait for them. Don's been being patient wants to jump on Cam, Spokane Washington us embarrassed. What's up down? Welcome to WGN. Go ahead. You doing guys? I I want to preface by saying I love the two point conversion, I'm more of a college football guy. I love the bears grew up in Elgin watching the bears. I totally dig the fact that we got a two point conversion in the NFL, however, many years ago. What are we doing using chart before the fourth quarter? If we kicked an extra point after that last touchdown. Maybe we wouldn't be. It'd be tied up at the end of the game. Then we go into a different silo. Okay. Hold on the bears. Go fifteen ten you can go for one. And you could go for two main is that even a discussion. I would have been sixteen ten that seventeen. What do we lose by? Yes. But it's fifteen it's you're talking about you know, the colts went for two because they were trying to extend it out. They what they would've kicked an extra point. I mean it. I don't. Fourth quarter revenue lost by a point. But we don't need a charter for that one down. I mean, I'm I'm not a math major neither you if they had gone if they had right? I mean, if we kicked the extra point we wouldn't sixteen points, the colts would've, they would've kicked the extra point. We lost seventeen. CEO's eagles eagles. Why say cults I'm watching the game. Sorry eagles. It would have been a seventeen sixteen loser. That's gonna make you feel any better. Right. I see a lot of relying on the chart. I still seeing a lot of this before the fourth quarter. It bugs me, here's here's a. Here's what bugged me Thanksgiving Day in the first half going to against the lions. And now, I'm I'm all in on Chuck Nagy. So I'm Manny. Yeah. Me too. Guy forever. But you don't go for two in the first half. They ended up, you know, rolling lions. But you don't you don't go over to their first half dump Rishard the call thanks for checking in. Let's bring a guy Adam Hoge to pitch for the Indian, Mike Hogue. Welcome for. Hey, guys. Yeah. The problem is not that they went for two that made total sense the difference because they would have just done. The eagles have been something different is still a one point difference. The problems that they didn't get the two point conversion got the two point conversion then the eagles are in a position where they either make the decision to go for two which cannot be ruled out to go for the win. Maybe that's something. Doug Peterson would have done on the road there or kicked the extra point to go to overtime now would have created a much different scenario for the eagles. The bears didn't get there's though and and that was the problem there. A couple of guys miss some blocks. It looked like if you go back and watch that two point conversion the run Taylor. Gabriel looks like he's going to get in. And then all of a sudden two guys, Mr. blocks, and he got tackled there at the at the one yard line. So in a lot of people are saying how come you with Gabriel? They're running between the tackles, he's fees five foot eight and one hundred and thirty pounds with the play call no guys make their blocks. It's a two point conversion. Way too, easy and lazy to blame the coach for player for lack of player execution. You got to execute. What the place now if everybody across the board executes, and it still doesn't work. Okay. Well, then maybe you can question the scheme or what's going on there? And there are actually our times we're going to have a bigger discussion about the run the running game this season. We're actually was questioned the scheme because I was seeing guys coming in unblocked worse wasn't necessarily a player's fault. It was like, okay. These the numbers here aren't adding up the bears don't have enough blockers for the amount of defenders that are coming in to make the tackle. And I do think that the bears had made some adjustments schematically. I think Matt Nagy Mike, Nagy, whatever you wanna call. It did make some adjustments throughout the season. And that was part of the reason why the running game improved. Yeah. So so what play the coach? So we don't say anything about Tariq only getting four touches. Yeah. Well, I think that you know, maybe a little bit. You can you could say maybe that's a player that you try to force things into a little bit. But I again, another thing is you gotta give the other team credit. That's that is the hardest thing for fans that do I've come to realize in doing this job for eight years. It is it is so hard for fans to give the other team credit, and I get it because no one wants to do that everyone wants to kind of blame your own team. But the reality is that the that the eagles and Jim Schwartz. Their defense coordinator did Sasha good jobs losing trae Burton on short notice after you practice all week. And they thought he was going to be in there. I think that hurt too. But the reality the reality was the eagles did a really good job of taking to recall an out of the game and the bears offense. Matt Nagy said it from day one. It is designed to get the football to whatever the defense is giving them. And if the eagles are gonna take away to recall when Mitch Trubisky is going to put the ball elsewhere. Whether that's checks at the line of. Scrimmage before the balls even snapped. Or after the ball is snapped finding the open guy. So you can argue that that Nagy should have maybe made some adjustments on his end or don't whatever he could to get number twenty nine involved more. But you also have to give the eagles a lot of credit for for taking him away. Okay. I was not in the locker room afterwards. Now, there's two different stories that I'm hearing one story is that Cody parkey sat there in front of his locker and talk to everybody that wanted to ask them a question. Another story is that he was there for a few minutes, then he ducked out of there. And then he wasn't at Halas hall. The next day couldn't be found which story is closer to being the truth. Well, they're both sort of true. What the first one is. He did sit there and ask questions or answer all the questions that were asked to except for the fact that there were still more questions coming and I forget, which PR Representative. It was for the bears, but someone. Yeah. Outlasts question. And you know, the player always have has the opportunity to say, no, no, I'll keep going and actually Matt Nagy done that a couple of times in his post game press conferences this year say no, no, I'll take all the questions that you guys have. I'm not going to criticize Cody parkey for not doing that. He in my opinion, he answered enough in the post game locker room after the then the PR guy stepped in and said, that's it. And you move on. The problem was is that a lot of people including myself wanted to talk to him the next day. You know, there's there's some more time. He's still the main story. The next day. We're all in there for extra interviews that go on house hall, and he was nowhere to be found. And I think that is something that he probably deserves some criticism for it because it was clearly communicated that a lot of people wanted to talk to him and didn't even see him in the locker room. So they're both kinds of true to answer your question. So what do you think is teammates are feeling with Kim going on the today show? I know that speculation, but I'm guessing that's not going to be incredibly well received in the locker room or or maybe it's just the just a just a nothing thing. But I don't think he's scoring any points. Yes. So I can actually go a little bit further than speculation. 'cause I have actually had some conversations here. Here's what I'll tell you one. Is that this interview was not facilitated by the bears? Right. It was. In fact, my understanding is that originally they reached out to the bears. And the bears said no because they weren't making players available. Anybody right? So. And they weren't necessarily in favor of doing this interview. So my understanding it was conducted through the agent, which is another way to go especially in the off season. What's the players are away from the team that's fair game. But I also believe that Cody park you wanted to do the interview and the bears weren't exactly thrilled about it. So in that standpoint, I think the proper way for me to phrase, this is I don't think Cody parkey did himself any favors by going on the today show Friday. And what I mean by that is it for his job security in Chicago, which I think is already in doubt. I don't think he helped himself unless he wants to get out of Chicago net case, maybe he did. That's what I'm just listening to talk about it. That's what I'm thinking. So he thinks he's getting cut and he wants to present himself to the rest of the world. Maybe maybe. That's one theory that that could be realistic. I'm not really sure. Because again, we haven't had a chance to talk to Cody parkey since Sunday. And don't really know what his intentions are. I do believe that's going to be very hard for him to continue to be the bears kicker. Whether he wants to be the bears kicker or not, I you know, I just know the city too. Well, and I think even in the eyes of the fans that I don't think he did himself any favors by going on the today show as for his teammates. I haven't I haven't had anyone openly criticize him. But I also haven't heard anything like, yeah. I understand why he did that you know, what I mean? So it's. And that's a totally different scenario because you never wanna Basha teammate and guys aren't going to openly do that especially in this locker room. This is a really good locker room fill a lot of really good dudes. That's been an emphasis for Ryan pace. So I but trust me there are guys in that locker room scratching their heads about the interview Friday, just like everyone else is usually when you have such a consensus like this against something. The players the players are thinking the same way to now. Let's look ahead. It kept Pagano is going to be the new defensive coordinator mazal tov. And thank you to be Fangio. Did a great job. What do you think? The bears did great good or indifferent with hiring Pagano. Yeah. I like it. I think that this was going to be an attractive job. Chuck Pagano has credibility that he brings into the room. Now, you can pick apart maybe his defenses in Indianapolis and questioned why they weren't elite. Why they weren't you know, the some of the best in the league, I will say he won a lot of games in Indianapolis as head coach. And when he was the defense coordinator with the ravens in twenty eleven that wasn't elite defense Ryan Grigson the general manager in Indianapolis made a lot of mistakes, which is why he's no longer the general manager there. And why Chris Ballard came in and has done such a good job spectacular into the playoffs. Even though it's not looking too good right now. Against the chiefs. So I like the higher, and I think it ultimately probably came down to him, and Donna tell the bear secondary coach. And I understand why the bears went in this direction as much as I think Donald L could have been done a good job. And I think it would have been nice did maintain the continuity, but God always going to be he's one. He's I think he's obviously trying to get a head coaching job again. Now that could be announced out of this. If he has his great defense next year and does such a good job..

"Our all in my building it up after Vic Fangio left his position as a coordinator earlier this week the appears to Chicago's getting closer to finding a replacement. According to multiple reports the team is I'm former colts head coach Chuck llegado to fill the position the fifth year. Fifty eight year olds coach colts in twenty seventeen. Pita D H. I do I can just tap out. Due can take over and it was previously. The ravens defensive coordinator so buyers Chuck Pagano being able to keep it bears a top five defense next year. Neither am I. The rage. I'll throw Newark Chuck Pagano. Guess. It looks. So happy. Can move in. Sure, I'm positive Marquette. No, no, no, no. We're we're moving forward prior to Sanford's sun bowl matchup against Pittsburgh corner. Running back Bryce love real that he would not play in order to pay for the NFL draft. Well, love told Yahoo sports today that he suffered a torn SEAL in the teams final regular season game surgery, mid December and intensive participate in some capacity at this year's combine the bracelets injury. Only furthers the reason by college football players should sit up. Oh games. Any criticism by? Yes. And I think it's absolutely self explanatory. But. And now now, I'm gonna lose my mind. If I have to go from the DA's talking about paid college coaches who run.

"No, not a big fan. But I do respect his unique talent he was unique. Like this. He had his own sound. I guess I didn't like all of it. Yeah. Some of it. I liked but some of it was a little too avant garde for me for my taste anyway. But I appreciate him off on guard. Very nice enough. That's a big word. It is how to spell it. Now. Of course. I do get the first letter. Yup. He just said a that's right. How come nobody's? How can we not saying it out loud? He didn't have his his earphones. Asked if you could spell up on guard not a chance to start with. I'm gonna guess a. There you go drink probably a V in there. Maybe a g you're getting better. That's about as far as I can go right there. We've talked a lot about the Broncos coaching search which has just begun. I I really think this. I think this. This comes from me. This is not come from anybody out there. They don't they're not going to tell me this. I think the next head coach. I think it'll be surprising to me if the next head coach is not Chuck Pagano. I'm with you there. Dave. I think it'll be surprising as I mentioned. I think we talked about it last hour when I talked about John FOX. I think that's the kind of guy they need after what just happened Chuck's a good, man. He's a good Amazon. The other guys aren't. He's a he's a really good football, man. So I mean, I don't have to sit here and sell him. All you have to do is go back and sort of look at his experience in the league. But that would be at least on the second of January that would be my two cents. What do you look at the list? I'm with you. I think that's and I'd be I'd be happy with that. Yeah. At least, you know, you got a guy who's been around a long time who has been a head coach a successful head coach solid guy is still young enough late fifties. Not too old. Not too young perfect guy named that might get people excited. I think I think people would would appreciate the fact that he's from here. But the Broncos fans they'll they'll look past that quickly. They they want to get this thing back on track. Rick you, and I've talked about this two terms of fans in a good way. Being spoiled know Broncos fans haven't experienced this ever. I mean it spent for unless you were a fan back in the mid sixty s to the early seventies. Right. Then you've got to go back for for a team to lose double digit games in back to back seasons. You've got to go back to believe nineteen sixty six so very few very few have seen this. So it's new for Broncos fans. It's kind of like walking out into a. A hurricane starting ups. Like, whoa. What what's going on here? The fifty one years. I mean, even you and I we were sitting around and pajamas eaten cocoa Krispies. We might have been in our in our little tidy Whitey. I mean seriously. Yeah, we probably still at footy pajamas. That's a long time. And so he's a guy that could stabilize this. Stop the bleeding turn it around. I'm not campaigning for Chuck. I'm just saying I will be surprised if he's not the guy. Well players be excited about him. I think so I mean, I'd never played for Chuck. But I think if you look at the job, he didn't Indianapolis. And then you look at the job. He did as an assistant in this league. Scott has been a good. He's always been on the defensive side of the ball coached defensive backs. He was in Cleveland for a while. So I followed him there. He was with. I don't know the raiders I think for for a little bit with the ravens for sure he's he he's a good solid football guy, and it would play into what Mike Klis had talked about with respect to the Gary kubiak factor. It also I'm a big fan of his brother, John who if you look at how the chargers. You know, the last few years back replaying defense the chargers were pain in the ass on defense. Giampa Ghana was the defensive coordinator, they thanked the rumor was that if Chuck Pagano comes here. Gary kubiak would be the offensive coordinator. John would be the defensive coordinator. That's the rumor. Yeah. Before we get back talking about beer you've hamburger fans out there. Especially in and out. They say it's still two years. Opening the one in Colorado I Colorado relation. Now. I thought that was this year. I did to why it says the the California chain will make it splash in the springs in the summer of twenty twenty. Wow. Yeah. Because here's why they have to open a distribution facility L here. Yeah. T's all their own complete with a helipad and one hundred fifty thousand square foot office building. So that's going to take some time. So if you're a fan of an it's going to take you a couple of years you had to fly to California, Arizona, Las Vegas. I I I went there twice my first week in Arizona. The do you think it's that special? I everybody says it's overrated. Why did I go there twice? I dunno. I went you think it's better than any other burger. There's just something about it. I don't know. Maybe I really want to go to white castle. Years. Seven to one of the spin. Since I was in college. Since little. Square little hamburgers with Russians on it. About two thirty in the morning whenever I'm just looking forward to going to white castle and getting one hot nuts. Those you had them in Cleveland. I'm sure oh tagging. I love white castles, the frozen kind. We've only had frozen. You don't know what you're missing. I know. I can only imagine what a freshman tastes second. Drew just those little tiny bonds. Yeah. But the little tiny thin bottom that wouldn't want them on a regular basis leader not gonna eat in late night food when you just got out of the bar. That's what it is. Yeah. You're never gonna go there during the day. Something to soak up the alcohol and your stomach think about Taco Bell. And I eat at during the had buried them. Probably would burrito and Chick-fil-A today. This is. Is that where you ran out of here? Like in the first hour. Okay, now now, I know. Yes. Okay. Now, I know I quit call Daniel line three before we get a traffic break. Daniel what's going on? Oh, yeah. I talk about what was the after the gold rush or mardi gras. Yeah. That's right. Man, what a change. Oh, it was. It was great with that three to because it allowed you if you're right on that concept that age you could go to the bars and watch games. Have a few beers. You know and not quite the Twenty-one yet. It was cut off. But I I don't think there's a big difference in in the strength. Really big. Sure did a damn good job. It's not it's not like three two beer normal beers four to write normal cores or butter, whatever. So no not much difference. You didn't have to drink a whole lot more in. You're right. Most of the states that had the three to law. You could start drinking at eighteen or nineteen and that allowed basically you get a fake ID when you get a fake ID at sixteen or seventeen you pass, and you can get in and you can buy three two beer, and how would I know? Well, I may have done it. Hi, may or may not. Well, okay. I'll admit I did I had a fake ID when I was sixteen. What here's naughty. I know, but you also balked round Schimmel shirts. And in what the hell were you wearing shells hookah shells? And I don't know what do you? I mean, honestly feel much better about when you're sixteen. No. But nineteen year old enough to buy three two. And then then I'd use the fake ID to buy the regular. That twenty one. Yeah. Because when I was sixteen swear to God, I had a fake ID. I was twenty three twenty three oh who looks Twenty-three at six. Guys. Greg Oden thirtieth. Is one of those guys kid I had a fake ID when I had braces. And I had a fake, and I would tell the guys I don't even ask me if I'm not old enough because I'm Asian and that's racist. Andy reid. Remember that video for Monday night football. Past thirty at twelve foot taller than all the other little kids. Andrew Reid played the race card. Guy would look at my look at me, and I had braces. Mike, I go. I'm asian. I know I look out. Here's the other thing. They didn't care. They didn't care back. Then people have fake ID's. Yeah. But all they wanted to just wanted to see an ID. They know you're not twenty one. They look at it and go, okay. Fine. It was different. Start having photos ID's. Well, they had photos back down. About forty sixty s do we know? Yeah. But mine, I was an Asian guy. A white guy in my photos. Six seventeen checks traffic. How we doing? Out there..
"chuck pagano" Discussed on Xtra Sports Radio 1300 AM
"All of the interviews over the next six days have been mapped out. First up is former colts coach, Colorado native, Chuck Pagano. Dan. Coming in tomorrow is the QB coach of the Rams Zach something or other. Zac, taylor. Thank you. And then who else we got we got Friday. It's Mike mon- check. Right. Mike munch? And then the Monday, they're doubling up with the patriots defensive coordinator, Brian Flores and your boy, Vic Fangio. Yep. The name. I think I know this answer is can I just say real quick. Yes. I would love it. If Vic Fangio, and let's just say Jim Bob cooter happened interview for the offense coordinator job and got it. How cool would that be guiding Fangio and a guy named Jim Bob cooter, though, we to talk about all year. It would be tremendous though, be great it really it really would funding to save on your coaching staff. Unfortunately, I think the circumstances have become too dire to opt for the names over at least the full names over the big names. Are you all in on Fangio? Is that your guy for the Denver Broncos based on this list? Yes. And I would agree out of this list. That Fangio is the most intriguing I would like a a name to come out of left field. Because generally likes to do that sometimes. But yeah this list. Fangio? I think that the QB coach Zac Taylor for the Rams. We talked about this on Monday. Because the news cycle was moving fast and furious with the Denver Bronco, right? One of the hottest coaching candidates last year. Was Matt leflore Matla floor was the offensive coordinator. I believe offensive coordinator. He might have also been a QB coach for the Rams and with the season that Gough had finally Jared Goff lived up to what a top draft. Pick is supposed to do. Obviously, Sean McVeigh his rise along with the floor. But leflore was part of that people thought that leflore had a lot to do with the success of the Rams the titans brought him in as offense coordinator. And I don't pretend like I've watched sixteen titans games this year, but leflore stock has gone down. Precipitously? Over the course of this season. And I would caution any Broncos fans that see the name Zack Taylor and more importantly, see Rams QB coach and think oh McVeigh's the new Mike Holmgren, right? I mean anyone that comes off of that tree? We got grab them. Right. The first guy off of McVeigh's tree did not have a very good season. Though. He's getting interviews. He is getting interviews. The Packers are the one that I've seen the most. Yeah. I think that's a unique situation because they have the most diva Alicia quarterback that we may have in this game and Aaron Rogers. So I think you definitely need somebody that can match wits with Aaron Rodgers. But you also need someone to be a little bit more. What's the word? I'm looking for subservient. You are there to do. Aaron Rodgers is bidding. That's what the Green Bay job is. And that's why I have for Packers fans. I say you don't want mcdaniels. But as a person who doesn't care how the Packers do all please higher mcdaniels like mcdaniels Brady fight constantly. But there's a clear winner. Right. Because Tom Brady is the goat in mcdaniels is not right. Aaron Rodgers and Josh mcdaniels arguably have achieved the same level of success in their respective career pads because Aaron Rodgers has a Super Bowl Josh mcdaniels has won multiple. But as a coordinator, I think both guys would feel like they have the right to yell at the other one right now. It's like it's cute that mcdaniels argues with Brady, but we know at the end Brady will win. So anyway, I digress. I don't hate the idea of Zack Taylor as a potential offense coordinator candidate. Yeah. To do what they did with Vance. What the initial plan with Vance was right? The initial plan with Vance was get this DB coach. And I mean defensive backs coach. Yeah. And let's promote him to defensive coordinator with us and the Bengals said, no, you cannot have him. Right. And and then I think that that made John Elway. You can't tell John Elway. You can't have somebody. I think that's the Las thing in all of this is that John Elway was told. No and that made him want Vance Joseph Baltimore. So I would say that. With the Rams qb coach. I think it's interesting to discuss potentially bring him in as an offensive coordinator, not as much at stake. John Elway has proven you can always replace an offensive coordinator. So I think Zack Taylor is going to be brought in. Like, Vance was initially to say, okay, we're going to give you a step up. And I have no problem with that. The real candidates. I think for the head coaching job. At least the ones that have been mentioned. Gano munch. And I don't even believe Flora's is a legitimate candidate hope not and Fangio. I think those are the guys right now. Because again, there guys are involved in the postseason John Harbaugh that the Broncos cannot make overtures with I don't even know if the Broncos will be able to interview John Harbaugh if that trade possibility progresses, but I know that the ravens aren't gonna discuss this right now. The ravens are worried about what they're worried about. And that's the Los Angeles chargers. So. Of these candidates. You like Fangio, I think if you go Fangio, then you I think you need to go the rebuilding full on rebuild route. Would you agree with that assessment? Or do you think Fangio is good enough that this team can add veteran players and be good next year? I think they can add veteran players, right? I. You know, Fangio better than I do because you are a a nice big Broncos fan, obviously. But with your your family's ties to Chicago and stuff you watch a lot bears games. You know about the bears. I say you're going to bring in Fangio, and he's going to be. Over-simplification take is that he's going to be more experienced Vance Joseph defensive-minded first time head coach. So to me, the tact that I would take if I'm John Elway Fangio's your guy, and I don't hate that idea. You have enlighten me on what Fangio has been able to do in Chicago consistently that defense has gotten better and better and better. And now arguably they are the best in the NFL before before they before he took over there were like the second works. No are number one. Statistically, right, number one. And I would say that as opposed to Vance Joseph that is a more complete body of work as a coordinator. So I liked the idea of Fangio Chuck Pagano to me screens. What John Elway is going to try and do. He's gonna try bringing in a veteran coach to work with case. I don't think he's going to jump ship on case keenum next year. No. And I think that John Elway with the cap space. The Broncos have is going to be looking to add rather than subtract. I know that he didn't dismiss the notion of trading von Miller out of hand. But to me you look at the Broncos they have Chris Harris, they have von Miller two of the ten at worst best defensive players in the National Football League. Who will both probably not be around if the who won't be in their prime win the Broncos come out of a potential rebuild. So to me everything points in the direction of going veteran coach that's where John L A's hit kubiak, FOX. Their personnel says veteran coach, but is Chuck Pagano. The right guy. That's that's the question. Mark that I have with that. Because Chuck Pagano had Andrew luck. True. And are you going to get the most out of case keenum with Chuck Pagano gain, more of a defensive minded guy? So. And. If you look at the reports, there's a re if the reports are true, there's a reason they're going defense. Because who they looking at for offensive coordinator. His who has been talked about. And and. Kubiak? Yes. So they don't want a head coach to step on kubiak toes. So if he's defense of minded he's going to go and step on whoever Joe woods or whoever the coordinators going forward his toes. Right. And I don't think one of the record. That's you bring you bring up a great transition though, because we'll take a break and on the other side is it the right course, of action for the Denver Broncos to have an OC already in their hip pocket, and Gary kubiak is that the right way to conduct this coaching search to try and force kubiak on any potential candidate. We'll talk about that. After we take a look at your traffic. Here's an Xtra sports look at the streets. Southbound I.
