Well, is there a college graduate in your life? Last week's lackluster economic report showed 1/5 straight month of decelerating job gains. Disappointing information for the more than 50% of recent college graduates who are currently unemployed or underemployed. So what do these job hunters need to do now as they search around for the right place to work? Well, Joining us live is Kirk Snyder, University of Southern California professor and author of the new book Called Finding Work. You Love Three Steps to Getting The Perfect Job after college. Kurt. Great to have you Here on W T O P. Let's start at the beginning. Where did these recent college grads begin? What should Be their top goal in such a tough job market right now. Morning, Deborah. Thank you for having me on. It's a great question. The Bars of launching into a recession or hostile job market. You know, Um, he's rapper questions can last 10 to 15 years to goal is not to get sidetracked and stuck. So the number one thing That these students and these young people these recent graduates need to know is they need to have a plan because the number one goal is about finding a job you love in good times and bad times and the scattershot Approach to finding a job doesn't work in good economic times, and it absolutely does not work in any challenging job market and certainly I'm sorry. Please continue. No, absolutely. So That's the number one go the number two goal If those jobs aren't available because of economic conditions, and certainly in this challenging covert job market, there's a lot of opportunities that are available. The number two job the number two goal should be finding a job where you can gain experience. That will make you even more competitive and more relevant for those jobs that you love those best fit jobs as soon as they become available, and if number two goal isn't available again because of the challenging environment, we go to number three, and that's simply is when you have to take a job to pay the bill. And you walked that crowd walk. You hold your head high, but how you don't get stuck is you keep working that plan so that you can get back into that. I can't go for that first goal, which is finding work you love. If all of that fails, What do you recommend? If all of that failed, I find that the opportunity to find a job to put food on the table, which is everything. Andre. That's a proud walk. But again what you want to do is not get sidetracked him stuck. So the way to do that is to have a really good plan that you recognize how to connect who you are with what you do. I call it working you Which simply mean when you're valued for who you are in the job. You're working you, and that's a collection of fitting Who you are. We bring three silos of value to the world of work. We bring human value, functional value and our image value who we want to be today and tomorrow and when the job Creates this positive force between the value that we bring. You're working you and that should always be that number one goal and again. Second go job That will give you the, um, experience to make you even more competitive for those jobs you love as soon as they become available. Those best fits on then, if you have to take a job that put food on the table. You do that? But you keep working that plan to get to that second or that first position. That's the key not to get stuck. All right, Kirk, we gotta leave it there. We're out of time. Great stuff. USC professor and author Kirk Snyder. About Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Secretary of State telling CNN just a few moments ago that Pennsylvania could definitely know who won the state by the end of the day today. President Trump's lead over the former vice president Joe Biden in Pennsylvania is now down to about 115,000 votes. With 92% of the vote counted there. In Pennsylvania, President Trump's lead has been narrowing steadily. Most of the uncounted votes are coming from areas that do lean Democratic. In Georgia. Now the race is also tightening. The president now only leading by about 14,000 votes about 55,000 votes still have to be counted. That's about 2% in Nevada. The former vice president's lead has widened to about 12,000 votes. But election officials in Nevada say they will not have a final count for likely until Saturday or Sunday. So we're waiting for the weekend, likely in Nevada in North Carolina. The president leads by nearly 77,000 votes with 95% counted were also expecting an update from Arizona. That should come at about nine o'clock tonight, but the Associated Press has already called that state a win for Joe Biden. Now, these counts continue as the Trump campaign loses a few legal challenges that it has filed. We've just learned that AH Michigan judge has dismissed a suit over whether enough Republican challengers had access to the handling of absentee ballots and earlier a judge today dismissed a suit in Georgia that asked to ensure state laws were being followed on absentee ballots. Now in Pennsylvania, A judge will allow the Trump team to watch vote counts from 6 ft away rather than 20 ft away, and the Trump camp is also asking for a recount in Wisconsin, where Joe Biden's lead is about 20,000 votes. In other news that we're following a Corona virus infection surgeon to record levels. Now as we get closer to the holidays and DC is mayor is increasing travel restrictions. "A new cooling and heating system. Dial 85549 snail or visits, no heating and air dot com I'm Rita Kessler. W T o p traffic. Are w T O V four day forecast. We are ready for the weekend. Chuck Bell. We are going to see at least a few breaks of sunshine Today. That'll bring afternoon high temperatures into the steamy. Mideighties 85 is the forecast high today. And though it isn't going to rain all day, there is still a 60 to 70% chance you're going to get hit with a least a passing shower, especially from Washington to the Bay Bridge south into southern Maryland and down towards Fredericksburg in the Richmond area, those will be the areas with the most likely chances for rain. Today, It'll be a little bit drier up across northern Maryland of the Pennsylvania line. Over the weekend. Saturday morning is the best opportunity to get outdoor yard work done and cleanup work done from the earlier week storms because rain becomes likely again later in the day Saturday and that rain could be heavy Saturday night into Sunday. Locally 1 to 3 inches or more will be a possibility. So I do suspect we're going to have more flood concerns Saturday night and Sunday Sunday with the rain around temperatures will actually stay in the seventies. And then a little break from the rain and the humidity arrives from Monday and Tuesday. I'm Storm Team four meteorologist Chuck Bell for W T o P right now in Washington. We have overcast skies, a little bit of sunshine breaking through and 79 degrees heading into the eighties later. Moving into parts of Frederick and Montgomery counties in Maryland is a few more rain drops out across parts of the Shenandoah Valley as well. A few drops down your Fredericksburg as well. Nothing heavy. No severe weather out there at this point in time, but it sure is steamy temperature already 81 in Washington. And do points. The way we measure moisture in the atmosphere all above 70 degrees. That's Florida level humidities for sure. If you have been outside today, you're not missing anything but stay at least umbrella ready for the rest of the afternoon, a quick sprinkler to hear between now and mid afternoon hours With the peak of daytime meeting, we could bubble up a thunderstorm or two. Looking for a repeat performance of yesterday. But today's rain chances pretty high up that 60% high temperatures this afternoon upper eighties for most low nineties in downtown Washington. "Not a Storm Team four. Meteorologist Chuck Bell, Hard to imagine. This day probably qualifies a little relief, Chuck Absolutely. Every day. Saturday through yesterday, National Airport was 94 or higher. We should be a degree or two below that today, just barely, but a lot of extra clouds around should help. Hold most areas into the upper eighties and low nineties. Today. The Heat advisory for southern Maryland is from noon until eight o'clock. The D C Metro is not included in the Heat advisor today just won't meet The criteria, which is several consecutive hours with Heat index is up over 101 105 degrees. That being said the Heat index and Daisy will probably close to 100 for much of the afternoon. Hard to believe that a heat index of 100 is a break, but compared to 105 or six we'll take every little bit we could get. There will be another pie chance for some rain and thunderstorms today, not the kind of severe weather we dealt with yesterday but still a pop up thunderstorm. Not out of the question. And anytime your thunder. That means that lightning is present. Always good to get off the golf course and out of the pool and away from any local waterways. And please be cautious around it. Highs Today Low nineties up Brady's in the suburbs tomorrow another fairly cloudy day on Friday with a passing shower, not a big rain impact. Tomorrow would've pop up rain shower thunderstorm. Not out of the question on your Friday afternoon. Tomorrow's highs. Good stay below 90 degrees of national Airport. That's cool. Snap 89. Then over the weekend, we dry out and warm up again Saturday, partly to mostly sunny, 92 Lots of Sunday Sunshine High
