"We had a young man in Milwaukee involved in four armed robberies. With a gun. They claim it was a toy gun. But the people that know that including an elderly woman. That's a lot more disrespect than having somebody kinda smiley goofy. Nobody did anything to him. He's still playing high school basketball at Milwaukee, Washington. And there's no level of rage directed at him. I shudder to imagine. If one of these boys actually had pulled a weapon or something. Can you imagine that yet when people have done things like that don't reaction really whatsoever? Nobody's all that bothered yet. In the initial twenty four hours before we got the full version, many of the condemnations of these kids came from people who you would have thought perhaps might have been willing to cut them some slack. Like, and this is where I think I could be a little provocative here. And I'm trying to be what is the excuse. Of the school. And the Catholic diocese that these kids are from what is their excuse. They turned out of right away to. They chose to give the benefit of the doubt. Not to their kids know, the appropriate thing. I think would have been to say nothing look into the story. I certainly don't think that they should have done mmediately defended the kids because they didn't know. The diocese. The Catholic diocese of Covington. Condemned the kids their own school said expulsion was likely. This is their side. Why would that happen? I bet you some conservative news organizations immediately jumped in this. The national review is the worst. Two things. When there's a witch hunt. Everybody wants to make sure that they're not not thought of as a witch. I think everybody gets the reference imagine they're out there having a witch hunt and a witch hunt is you know, it's real which is were killed. Salem. So if you know they're coming for witches, he's gotta tell hey, I'm not a witch. So if the coveted some Catholic kids from Kentucky. The Catholic school. Hey, it was just these brats. Not us don't condemn the rest of the school. Don't blame us the Catholic diocese of coveted. We're not like that. Maybe the few of these bad apples in Washington. They put their own self interest covering their own butts. Above Faradis, the kids that were being accused. We app about innocent until proven guilty. And we accord those rights that people have done some of the vile things Abacha table. Look at the little bit. We had an again, I'm stressing that this is based on just what that first video is out there. How little we knew all we knew from that. First video is the guy is beating the drum and the kid is smirking tight of he's sort of smiling that we've called a smirk. I mean, it's all we do. And we had the native American Phillips version of events. He claimed that they were chatting build the wall at each claimed that they ran for it. That's all we do. That's still incredible gray area at that time to be there's that video again, keep showing that same part of it. By the way. I would put near the bottom in terms of coverage of this. Fox News has been terrible. I think everybody's been terrible. They've been terrible to you. Have you you? I watched too much cable. Those is you know, I bet I've seen about three times stip it's of the hour and a half of those kids being taunted by the black Hebrew nationalists. That videos out there too. You never see that. They always show the kids standing there staring at the guy who's pound other problems where the shortly at that's fax. Anyway. Before we had a full version of the story. Some of the people who you would have thought might have. Given the benefit of the doubt to the kids did not. They were doing their own posing for holy pictures. Oh, there are some bad. People were not that. It's the same tendency. I think you see with Republicans who don't like Trump who liked to suck up to the media and go all Charlie Sykes, onions said well, I. My conservative, but not bad. I didn't mention it by name yesterday. I'm going to do it here. I actually want to praise Charlie. You know, why I actually might prejudice would have been the childhood of under one of the first jump by these kids. He at least do enough to show some restraint. Or maybe he did reprimand. I just I'm so disconnected from any kind of Twitter beat Charlie's now into such your relevancy. We don't even know that he'd be editor where he took a doubt. I I don't think he did. Does it interesting piece written? And again, this comes from a listener who sends this stuff to be. I try to read a lot of stuff, but I can't lose no way ever would have found. This. It's written by someone priest named father, George Rutledge. He writes essays, and this appears in an online magazine called crisis magazine. In which he calls out. Some of the people who you would have thought would have given benefit of the doubt to the kids, but did not. I'm not going to read the entire piece here because he goes into a lot of background and other things like the history of the New York Times. And so what let me give you a few paragraphs because it's really good. And it's very thought provoking stuff. Times change even for the New York Times. Over more recent years is a bad it's foundational moral rectitude, although not proud of its whitewashing of the Ukraine famine and Stalin's show trials by the complicit reporter, Walter Durante. The newspaper is not yet renounced his Pulitzer prize. The words demerged from the praise heaped on if I fell Castro when he visited the ready to'real office in a gesture of thanks for their support. There was also that problem with Jason Blair is plagiarism in the misrepresentation of the young men falsely accused of sexual violence at Duke University that incident bears some resemblance to the recent incident in our nation's capital when used some Covington Catholic high school were accused of racist bullying, but the New York Times said the decency along with some others to regret the haste with which it moved. To condemn the innocent. Now the point that. Father rattler is making here is at least in the case of the New York Times. Which quickly condemned these kids, it is at least acknowledge that it regretted. What it did? I regretted that a jump to the conclusion is quickly as it did. So he's cutting them at least some slack for acknowledging. Their initial reaction was Rog. Unlike say state Senator Christopher Larson who still calling the kid race kids racist. Even though the truth is out. Continuing. With Rattlers commentary. He goes out, and he writes on a number of different areas here and then returns to this point. There's no need to recount the details of the latest incident in the nation's capital in the high school boys were defamed by journalists with the accusation that they mocked the elderly native American who is trying to calm a confrontation with a radical group of anti white antisemitic. Racists, videos, proved that there was no truth to this, but flurry of demagogic virtue, signaling, do you know that term virtue, signaling policy never gonna it? That's when that's when say somebody like a conservative. We'll make it clear to liberals. Hey, I'm an enlightened open mind. Matt like, those boorish Trump supporters. I'm not like these kids in Covington. I'm not a racist. Just show the what I may be conservative. But I'm not like that. Mm-hmm. Virtue, signaling signaling how decent and wonderful. You are get the approval of the people who care. The virtue signaling would be an example of the people wearing the ribbons at the awards shows. I care Meryl Streep yet. But about what you have to treat women pie, positively in Hollywood, even as she sucked up to Harvey Weinstein for thirty years. That's purchasing back your father butlers commentary videos privilege, there was no truth to this bit of virtue of demagogic virtue, signaling rated the boys without giving them a chance to testify in the eyes of the secular media. The lads were a poor were added portentous disadvantage being white Catholic males some of whom were marrying mega hats, the native American was described as an elderly be at Phnom war veteran but few sixty four year olds today would qualify as geriatric. And in the last year that any US combat units were stationed at Vietnam. Nineteen Seventy-three he would have been eighteen years old Phillips a professional activist for the indigenous peoples March also claims to be marine veteran, which may be the case. But to have been a marine veteran in Vietnam when the last marine combat division left in nineteen seventy one he would have been sixteen years old. Let me interject. He it a sense been acknowledged that. He never went to be at Phnom. Now claims he was a Vietnam era veteran, which is only thinly accurate. He joined the marines right around the time. Vietnam was beginning to end. There was an overlap, but he was never there back to father others. Commentary. Journalists were supposed to expose hoaxes pretending to be facts. But now, they prefer to call facts hoaxes. I speak without prejudice having been born in New Jersey. I could also claim to be an indigenous person besides that as a teenager. I was schooled in a college originally established for the education of what used to be called Indians. He goes on to a couple of other points. And then he hits home with the reason that I wanted to share the. Story with you..

"Check that out. Final segment of the program today. I mentioned earlier I want to talk a bit more about the March for life. So many different angles and much of it has been related to this national news story. See Jamie Lee Curtis now has come out and said, I really shouldn't have judged a book by its cover, and I shouldn't have done. Look, we all do that. I don't think it's easy to pounce on these people that did it early enough. We all do anything. Just learn the lesson of doing your own research. This is what's more important than anything? And that's my takeaway. I was mad the second. I saw that. Kit. What's he doing? He's gonna record for everybody. You know? Maybe that's what the media was looking to do wreck. The March for life. Tarnished the March for life. Yeah. Again. But all of us. Learn a lesson to say not going to judge me. Big media has done. It really are. So anyway, that's kind of the national implication. The other was this the first time that I've been to the March for life where I've actually traveled as a chaperone with the kids have gone there to cover it before I've flown in there. I was with the university of Mary's group a couple of years back when they carry the banner, and this is the first some actually I'm on the kids, and I come back with an extra little balancing my step over the fact that there are kids not only my daughter Haley who is along in her classmates, and the others who had this rich tradition of going in many churches, do bring kids from all across North Dakota of denominations, the pro-life thing is not a Catholic thing. The pro-life thing is a in my mind. Christian. But just fellow human being thing to say, okay. We know from science when life begins. Why would we ever interrupt that plan? Let's have some other. Ways. But guess what I got a lot of grey hair. I'm not going to change this nothing. I can do or say is going to do. It. Don't have enough time left on his planet with these kids can. These kids can't and I hope they open the eyes. Of people who are set in their ways on this issue. And really maybe haven't thought about it for a while. Why are kids? So fired up about this. Why are students so fired up about this? For all the right reasons. It's great. Anyway, i'm. Just a little more optimistic. I'm normally a half glass half full kind of guy anyway, but I'm a little more optimistic than I was before this trip as a chaperone, and you know, it's not easy for chaperones. Don't exactly have you know. I mean, we're we're all you can't sleep anywhere curl up in the corner of a seat in a bus. And so, but I think all of us were just emboldened by these kids, they were great. They really were. And it was fun to have some time to with the. My daughter Haley, who, you know, all of our kids, and we didn't say, hey, you should be pro-life. They just get it just in their DNA. It's fun to see. So great time. Great time had by all. And I applaud every parent that says, yes, go you gotta do this going to cost a couple of bucks. But you're going. Let's do it. It's fantastic. Chris maybe it'll have some breaking news. I think this might be the one the only. This is the one the only Scott how you doing this morning. Christopher larson. ICU breaking news about the Ralph bagels that arena today. How -solutely just got off the phone with army general manager, Tony Hobson? And boy is it big news in multiple ways. Tell us we talked. We talked to Jody earlier about you know, this weekend some things going on. But he said the announcement was coming later on this six million dollars addition. What is six million bucks? Gonna buy six million bucks is gonna buy a new center hung video display mentoring fifteen point five by thirty four feet wide per side. And what what that amounts to scout? In two thousand.
