"Afternoon. Edie. How you don't swing you know, I decided because, as you said, it's such a beautiful day. Tio trying to take all this out to the patio, but it's when I tripped over the wire on the way out the door to the patio decided Tio come back inside and do it inside again. Not the best plan, not the best laid plan, as they say, But, yeah, there's a beautiful day out there as long as no one could break anything there, outside or on you. That's good. I didn't break anything. I don't care if I break something here, but not not on Lee. How you doing today? Good. Good. Good. We? Yeah. More stuff around the house and waiting for Ah, waiting for action again. We know the Yankees are playing Tuesday. You know, because They're done with the whole Mets thing, and they're onto the Braves. Do we have any idea when the Mets are gonna be bad? No, no, We really don't. Although that was positive news right before we went off last night, we got the positive news about no positives with with a Koven test, So that's that's good. And I would assume that if that continues today, as well. That they'll be back Tuesday. And that's what I think now again. I have no Ah, no confirmation of that. What's wrong? We haven't heard from the Mets have been very quiet. They haven't warned out this weekend. They can't but you would assume that if everything goes OK today they would likely workout tomorrow because it's been four days now. They haven't done anything since Thursday. So you know, get a workout in and then go back against the Marlins, and I would assume one of those games Tuesday Wednesday Thursday is going to be a double header. You have to make up the game with Miami. I'm assuming it would be Wednesday. They wouldn't come right in with the doubleheader. I don't think so. So we'll see and then the Yankees, then they have to straighten out what's going on with the Yankees next weekend, and how many games are going to play and what's going to happen there? So yeah, we talked Aaron Boone a little while ago. He wasn't sure what that schedule is going to be, But it did not, You know. The idea of maybe having to double headers next weekend did not know what is not revealed to him not to kill anybody. Christie Acker. Thank both of us for putting a good idea out there. I should say you you float that out there. Thank you. Yeah, The idea of the possibly to doubleheaders next weekend is still kind of floating out there as far as he knows. Pitching plans for the Yankees Garrett Cole pitch Tuesday as we talked about the last pitched on Thursday, so just light him up for that are Wednesday should say, and Masahiro Tanaka will pitch on Wednesday. The ones of the Braves That leaves Friday, Saturday Sunday. Now we don't know what doubleheaders air going Toby, but J. AP and Jordan Montgomery through simulated games today, and arid judge finished taking some swings in those games. He's ready to play with the Yankees play on Tuesday. If I assume that you get through today ah, you could pitch Next weekend. You could whatever word you want. You could throw while that whatever order but happened. Montgomery could pitch the first two games. Cole could pitch on Sunday. If you have doubleheaders thrown in there, you've got to figure out which of your long men or call up so everyone do They slut rush response to fill with all the guys they put on the aisle. Davey Garcia is one of the Yankees top pitching prospects and there, there's at least a chance that you'll see him when you know if there's a double header scheduled next week, he's at least among the people they're discussing. That's that's something interesting to say. How many days off do the Yankees have in September? They have they have Monday off, right? The they've got to Two. They got you OK? That's Thursday, the third because Monday, the 31st. They're they're home against Tampa right after the about Syria's. They have three years, Tampa Bay Monday, Tuesday Wednesday And then they have that Thursday off. Okay, um, you know, so they don't have August. 31st is not a in sync ofthe day, but third, But here's the other thing, And I don't know if this is possible right now, just given all the protocols right now, Eddie, but Isn't it? Isn't it? Pa. What of the other Mets off days? Isn't it possible? The Yankees were playing the home game against somebody like a a split doubleheader of some kind to get games in? I mean, if they're playing, they play one of them at Citi Field, and then they bust over the city field, playing the game there than bus back to play the night game in Yankee Stadium. I mean, it seems like a lot of hoops to jump through unit normal circumstance, but I mean, if you got games, and I don't know, I don't know if they did. I'm not sure if they do that you have. What do you have off in September? The third and the 14 14? Yeah. Eso. Those both those days are off for the Mets is well, okay. So I don't know You could. Ah, Umm you could put a doubleheader on one of those days, I guess to double Yeah, Yeah. You still got yours? I got a bunch of games to make up, so do not only hard to manage I know it's gonna work. Though The Mets have three off days in September day of the third, the 10th and the 14th. I would imagine going to lose one of those, I think, And they have Ah, off days in the 24th 31st. They've only had one ofthe day so far so well, I think if you don't want to do to doubleheaders next week Schedule a day one doubleheader on one of those mutual ofthe day's play four games next week. Next weekend to on one of the double 100 to 1 of those off days, and that's how you make up to six games like that. Well, you don't have to play to back to back double headers and wreck pitching staff's We're not going to figure it out here. I guarantee you that in the next few hours, but I think we should let's just what What do you have going? On a September 3rd date? You? Are you free that day? I don't know. I had nothing. I had nothing going on watch. I had several things going on yesterday and today is about that change rather quickly is about so Maybe we could just working around our schedule. Just a TV show up. I mean, you know, just do it. That's fine with me. You know, Yesterday we wanted Teo. Get Tony Gwynn Junior on. Have you seen with the pot breaks have been doing lately. My aunt's lame after another. Like I can't understand why the guy is busy and couldn't come on with us, whatever. He's just having trouble finding finding the balls of the stance. Get six home runs last night. Six visit that anyone they had six last night, including, including another grand slam by Cranham Worth and Grisham. Remember the kid in right field for the Brewers in the playoffs last year?.

"Kim jones back with you here on the fan eight oh five we will get back to your calls in just a moment dom smith has homered three straight games for dominic smith but for him met have a one nothing lead that is certainly not delete that essay as we know the new york matt cope long way to go in philadelphia tonight i am so happy right now is christy their p i'm getting two thumbs up on the other side of the glass terrific christie acker who covers the new york yankees formerly covered the mets so maybe we'll get a question or two in there for christie but christy nice enough to join me now after a day game today at the stadium christie how are you i'm good how are you i am absolutely terrific are you going to london aileen tomorrow morning are you excited i am i think it's going to be interesting to see everything that goes on it'll be interesting yeah i'm excited yeah it's going to be the dimensions of that park are something kristie that actually i to call her a saturday or two ago who was really into it and i thought well you know callers have different you know things that they're interested in but now that we're getting closer to the games i do think that sort of thing is going to be fun because it certainly isn't fenway and we know it's not yankee stadium so all of it i think we'll be kind of interesting like you said especially for just two days yeah i mean it's thinking about baseball such a team or like players are into their daily routines there weekly routine their teams and this is completely out of the norm i mean they're having two days off and then they're playing two games and they have another day off i mean this is just var- that yes so it's gonna be interesting to see that it's interesting to see how they react when they come back you know these teams are expected to be battling for the a._l. lease the rays are playing great you know the yankees have to come back play the match and then go down to play for against the race it'll be interesting to see if there's like you know if there's a hangover her if this even factors into the race christie this though was probably as good home stand as the yankees ever could have hoped for in fact well i know they have high expectations but maybe they hoped for it but a great homestand beat up on the raise beat up on the astros swept of course the blue jays who couldn't hold lead today i would think the worst Thing that happened on this homestand Christie was Giancarlo Stanton, reinjuring, or getting injured again this time the knee. absolutely and nobody find this coming had lost eight out of eleven they're coming into this it was a little concerning and it was interesting to see how they responded to the astros because they really you know those first three games they were really ready for them rising and that was a good scientific fans and the worst thing yeah you know that's not a good sign for stan i know that you know he had that had an issue got hit on his lessening in rehab and that caused a cash strain i mean he's had so many injuries already this year it it it's concerning for now it's gotta be concerning down the road to yes definitely would agree with that was their concern after the game christie about james paxton today he is certainly not giving them length very often at all today again didn't get out of the fifth and didn't look great the time he was in there any concern about about him in particular aaron boone is never going that i mean he is and it plays well in the clubhouse he has faced players how much does concerning i mean the ball flying it's hotter so the ball flying more you know their packs and seems to have these ups and downs where i mean i haven't seen him go through a dominant streak yet where he can you know keep it going you know the knee has been a problem he has a history he doesn't get he's because you know injuries and it wasn't asked today if there is a physical problem they said no so yeah it's something definitely to keep your eye on and you know that's a major concern for them because they don't have starting pitching that's giving them any depths right now soccer tanaka crissier are you in the camp like like a lot of us here at the fan including callers who believe brian cashman will add at least one starting pitcher if not to i believe he will he will add one starting pitcher and actually i heard of sweeney murdy talking about the possibility of another opener and i kind of thought about that and that makes some sense to that someone inside the box thinking that i could see cash looking at in terms of everybody knows the needs starter they're going to hike the fishes up maybe he goes another way it'll be interesting it will be and god knows the countdown to that will fill your notebook and i'm sure you're selling the for us we've been talking trade deadline with the yankees for a month now and it's still a ways away the end of july so you'll certainly be busy during that span as we know you always are kim jones here on the fan with christy accurate christy when you look at the pieces that have come back and stayed healthy that would be judge of course didi they've had some others what impact do you think just their presence made i guess in particular with judge in d._d. for obvious reasons when they reentered this clubhouse did you see a difference i mean it was interesting to see you know them come back and defer to the players that had gotten to them to where they were you know judge has been very clear about these guys one series where i was out and you know d._v._d.'s and same i think there's a a level of not just comfort but fun that happens when they're in the clubhouse and i think that is kind of what we're seeing it's a very relaxed clubhouse an very confident clubhouse right now and having you know two guys like that in there didi hasn't been hitting that well right that that adds to that confidence christy what is your impression when you watch glaze over i mean he is so talented he is so talented and really in some ways might be the best baseball player of the group and and i don't say that to slay judge because he's obviously very high on that list but there's something about watching labor play whether it's second or short that he just seems so special and he's twenty two i mean that's that's what i have to remind myself every once in a while it's like he is only twenty two years old and he gets other i mean like he's he has her power this year and you know he said well i went you know i went home this winter and i said i wanted to be healthy and i wanted to work on my power and that's what he's done he is special he's very level headed for kids that age he's very confident he's one of them's ones that you sit that age you kind of oh he's gonna be special i mean he's still learning which is very right he's probably going to get a little stronger main because he's so no yeah he's really impressive christy last year you were covering the mets correct yes so this actually isn't a mets question this is to set up the idea that last year at this time i was taking calls where every caller wanted to talk gary sanchez and every one of those callers wanted him out of the yankees uniform i don't hear from those guys very often anymore now kristie i'm just wondering i know it's your first year around the yankees as closely as you are now but what strikes you when you talk to or about gary sanchez you know the funny thing is i did a big story on catchers in french training and i just did one on him a week ago and it's very interesting because analytically last year they were like oh he's he's a good job defensively because passed balls don't count as much as framing okay and this year you see he's made some huge blocks behind the play this huge game winning blocks yes and everyone's like oh gary slate and his framing members but just what he is healthy what a dominant hitter he is i mean just dominant overall player he's a really good catcher because i measure that in terms of you know pass balls yes but what also is important key he good with his pitchers pitchers trust him you know i've seen him go out and you know calm down jay hat you know much older player i've seen him you know zach britain's told me he saved his bacon many times so i think he's having great if it's if it's not lumbago gary sanchez is the emmy this team this year and i was going to ask you about de d._j. lemay who numbers with score in with runners in scoring position or absent the charts almost a five hundred hitter in those situations and i'm guessing christie you saw him more when he was in colorado so that is a player that you would see limited regularity but more so than than you would most of the yankee players i would guess what about d._j. in your opinion has allowed him to not even have a transition to new york and to be as clutches he's been he is so low key i mean it wouldn't things one of the things i love about him in this day and age when neither sneakers or the big rage he works out on a pair of sneakers that greg berg didn't like you know hanley i mean he's like very old school right he doesn't like striking you know i'm gonna say this analytical age supposedly but he doesn't like it you could see i agree he gets he's very low key he doesn't really even when you're talking to him he'll kate me laugh but there's no action down with me just consistent he likes his routine Don't bothered by anything and, you know, he's, he's just. wow yeah it's it is amazing that to me i've called that one of cashman's best signings and he's had you know listen they all have mrs but he's had a lot of good signings but at this point d._j. lemay looks like he's at least toward the top of that list in my opinion i do if you don't mind christie just want to shift gears to the mets for a moment if i could pretty obvious brody didn't see anything like what alonzo and mcneil or delivering coming because he didn't really have them in his permanent plans this year or he wouldn't have made some of the other moves he made do you remember the two of them for maybe spring training to the point where you thought that they could be really capable to say the least major league players mcneil no okay and mcneil was was it would seem good player but i guess i didn't see it translating you didn't hear about like the scouts didn't fit translating so we're like okay lonzo you were always amazed at how he could hit the ball and the other thing that struck me was i would go out and see the minor league backfield and he would be he was a major league camp but he was out there working with tim tough all every day on just basic drills you know at first base just very basic stuff and you know tim ho million and stuck with me how hard of a worker he was and then i saw it again last year the futures game and he hit a ball over the foul pole at nationals park and it was like wow and i'll know he said i've always been able to hit a a long way it's like okay yeah there you go He didn't lie. how do you that day no this is not meant to be a cheap question and it's not meant to be a mets bashing question but is there a difference as a beat writer and a great profile writer and.

"Really good Thursday. You may not have the bat of Mogollon, but he can hold more than hold as defensively over the bat now. So they just seem to have one major league, ready doubt. All right. There's a lot of a number of players to unpack and talk about their. Let's start with two. You mentioned Clint Frazier and Aaron Hicks and sounds like we're getting some updates of some of these some of their higher level talent returning. So what's the latest in in terms of when the Yankee fans can expect to see these guys back? In the back to mommy yet rained out in the second half start. You don't see the cairn? I'll be back. They cleared roster for tonight's debate. He'll be activated and in terms of clearing room on the roster at sounded like they sent down a relief pitcher rather than one of these other replacement bats is that right? Yeah. Stephen partly. And then Aaron hick is supposed to clean in an extended endurance or he has started. And they will start playing him in. We have gained which neighboring hassle said that there's a possibility could even see him next weekend, which is pretty quick ramp up. But you know, you've had a very long way back condition. All right. So even so maybe in a week a little over a week Yankees could be looking at having both Clint Frazier and Aaron Hicks out there in the outfield, and that should help help the depth. You mentioned you or shelhah who has been a revelation. The glove is something the defense is something Yankees expected. The offense was not something that from an external scout perspective. I would guess was expected because their shell is not a guy who. Yeah. That was always the question. Mark is this guy going to hit enough a couple of questions on geo or shell at number one scouts and people who are watching him. I know, you know, having senior sitting around that while other other reporters seem to you know, chat with each other. I did notice that you sit and talk to all the scouts that come through. In the when you sit there in the cafeteria cafeteria there, so. From a scout perspective, you would geo or shell is this something? Now, his offense of game that people think watching his approach can stay or is this just Yankees caught light lightning in a bottle. Don't expect it. They've noticed some different his swings. They see a better approach. They see him. It looks like he's on the strike zone. Go for a young player. They'll have to develop that at the major global. I mean, they can have a coach in an idea, but they had to see it up here. And they noticed that his sample of different. In his. Might be giving him a little bit more power to get Szabo's Activase it, but you know, I'd had scouts. Wow. He wants good. You know, it just kinda surprising. They don't usually like to say, hey. You know, maybe he's also about I think he's been you know, I think the had been very lucky to have him. He's been he's he's made some very big plays defensively. Some big plays authenticity. Any he had the to, you know, go ahead. One extra inning game in Anaheim. And he he knows how to hit, you know, a single to advance runners he though. Oh, he's been there. There you hear them talking to Christie Acker from the daily news about the Yankees. And watching today's game miserable, weather, certainly, but the Mingo Herman was making the twins miserable. And that's a good offensive team. There's some decent bats in that lineup. And he goes six and two thirds innings. And really it looked to me. It was really maybe just the one really bad. You know, kind of hanging curveball that drove in the run, but he looked dominant today and. So what point do we say, you know, Jim Ingo her mind that the Yankees have really found something in her mind or do we need to keep waiting for? You know, he's a young pitcher for the league to make adjustments to him. I mean, I don't think there's ever any doubt that he could be a really good pitching just young..

"Ends with no one able to comment on it. And apparently goes away with a whimper. Apparently. We saw Matt Kuchar. Finally, do the right thing took him a couple of days, but he did the right thing we heard about Antonio Brown earlier in this day, my colleague, Ian Rapoport at at NFL network reporting, even though both were in Florida. He would not meet with art Rooney. The second perhaps an invitation to clear the air between the Steelers receiver and ownership and then later in the day ABC said he would we meet with Mr. Rooney in Florida. Luis Severino before he could even worry about several years of arbitration and all that stuff signs. I what forty million dollar contract with the Yankees that I have to believe the Yankees somewhere somehow even the tiniest bit enjoy tweaking the Mets over Severino's contract and two grams contract situation. Don't exactly parallel we understand that. But a day after Jacob degrom so vocal the Yankees do something very quietly in getting something done with Severino. No word from today. As far as I know. Which might be a good thing. Although apparently, you an assessment is spoke. And apparently, and I just saw a graphic on ESPN with the sound off full disclosure. But apparently he said he doesn't know if it's three months two months or one month, and I'm making the leap that he was talking about coming back. We're gonna effort that we're gonna try to help you out with that helped me out with that. I'm the one who needs help with that. I don't know what I'm talking about. But I'm guessing. But man would that be good news, but gotta be cautious with that one. Because you know, how will probably go and how it often goes. But we'll see we shall see. We do have a couple of great guests tonight. I'm looking forward later in the program. And I'm here till ten and I am Kim Jones. Happy to be with you on the fan tonight. Nine o'clock hour, we will talk to Christie Acker who is with the Yankees Christie, of course, with the daily news, a former Mets beat writer. So she'll have some perspective on that as well. I'd have to believe I know she well, she certainly knows that team as well. As anyone but Christie will join us in the nine o'clock hour, Eddie see around eight o'clock, so very much looking forward to talk to those two. I haven't talked to Eddie see in a long time haven't talked to Christie in a long time. So I'm looking forward to that. And I do have ESPN on here in the studio and they're showing kneeling of Colin Kaepernick and Eric read back when both were forty Niners both in uniform. It's going to be interesting to see how much that cause remains now that those two Colin Kaepernick not in the league Eric read just signed a new three year deal with the Carolina Panthers. How much the cause remains because they now have committed to silence. As has the NFL and its owners and a personnel. So now, we're going to get silence. We are. We're already had seen of course, the number of players kneeling declined greatly. I mean, it was a handful. I believe this past season. So anything on the table tonight. My goal. Full disclosure. I never lied to you guys. Full disclosure. My goal is to not do an entire show on cap. And I'm going to be honest with you guys. I can't do another whole shell underground. You are more than while Rosenberg's laughing across the way, I think he thinks I'm nuts with the honesty staff. But I'm just never gonna lie to you guys. And any topic is fine. Really it is. But the whole show last night on degrom. A guy who I think deserves a chance to have a gap pass here. And I truly don't think is going to you know, opt out when his team needs him to opt in. I really don't see that. From what we saw last year from Jacob degrom. Listen, he wasn't just the Cy Young winner a year ago. He was teammate of the year. Right. A guy who never got run support. You could tell his teammates felt horrible about it. And he for the most part either occasionally smiled as way through a post game interview. Or at the very least said, I know these guys are trying as hard as they can. Right. So to me Jacob degrom will probably find a way to find tune that message next time, he talks to the media. I'll be interested in about an hour and twenty to see if Edie see agrees with me on that. I look forward to a good conversation with that easy. Hey, we've broken new ground at the fan because I heard Michael Conforto on with Joe beningo today. It was kind of fun. Dear Conforto on the fan. Talking to gel. Talked about how he's feeling better talked about the excitement for the season. Which is what you're going to hear now for probably the first I don't know seven to ten days. That's everything that you'll hear for the most part unless we help there aren't injuries this early. Although I neglected dimension this tomorrow night. Did you see that Matt Harvey has a gluten injury? And I read I thought I read I think I read that you know, like the angels take was like could still be ready for the season opener. We'd hopes out. That's one thing I declined or I neglected to mention last night. Maybe that would have gotten a few calls. Or maybe not in ever since we last checked in with Rosenberg, by the way. He assures me that he has watched the dog shell via DVR we will get into that a little bit later as well. Both paulie and Tommy had last night off good for them. Conor. And Matt did a very nice job. I will tell you tonight, though, the group here, myself included is ordering dinner, and I might start a countdown clock on my phone for dinner because I think we're gonna order in about an hour. And I'm very excited about that. I feel great. I, you know, I don't want to be obnoxious about this stuff. I really don't you know, if someone out there thing, I don't care. How you feel? I get it. I, you know, fine. That's all right. But I felt so good on Sunday. So good like unbelievably good. And I think I feel that good again today. And listen, I I'm grateful for every day. And I feel good. I feel good every day. But when you just feel great that's a whole different animal whole different animal. And I feel absolutely great. And I'm so excited to be with you guys till ten o'clock. I do not know Polly who comes in after me at ten. Can we find that out at some point JJ? Polarity knows John jastremski after dark is that the whole is it is well heck it could be Caja after dark right now because it's dark probably not. Probably not not I don't eat a nickname cage as okay, but the after dark. I don't think I'd go. Nonetheless, JJ we'll be here a little bit later, and he'll take over at ten. In the meantime, my prediction is that of these in these five shows we will continue to take hundreds of calls in five shows. I think it's legitimate to think I've taken two hundred calls this week that might be a little high. Maybe a little high. But it's been a lot of calls and I've loved them. Absolutely love them. So I'm here till ten. We'll take plenty of your calls at eight. Oh my God. The calls are jammed already. I just look at the board. And the board is jammed. I love you guys really ideal. I don't know if you all believe me, but I do. All lines are jammed, and I didn't even give the number yet. And I didn't even look at the board and Paul desperately wants me to take a break sometime in the next twelve seconds Kim Jones with you til ten eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six I do think just a crystallized this. I'm sure we're going to get into it to some degree. I do think in some ways you could argue this is just a good day for the NFL. They get to put something behind them. Now what it costs them? I have no idea. I have no idea where to start on any sort of a financial number no idea, but they get to put something behind them. And at least as I understand it Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reed cannot talk about the the way in which or what how this collusion lawsuit. How it was settled. So they essentially bought silence. And move past this. I find that interesting. And my sense would be just my off the cuff sense would be for the NFL. That's worth it. I think capper Nick and read one in the sense that they've they've got to have been paid. For this to go away. But in terms of for the NFL to now on this issue at least from those players. I mean, they can't control every other player. But from these two main players who filed the the collusion, suits, they. Now, I believe have bought silence. That part of it. I think you have to admit is a win for the NFL. I think so. Kim Jones with you til ten we're going to take a break, and we will get back to the very busy very early. But busy phones. I'm Kelly Dillon with the fan highway.
