Brewers OF Cain opts out of 2020 season; series called off

"Outfielder Lorenzo Cain has opted out of the rest of the 2020 major league baseball season. How valuable is he? Well, consider this as we go inside the numbers brought to you by the new Ford Super duty built Ford tough since 2015 When Kane won a World Series with the Kansas City Royals. He is fourth among all Major league baseball outfielders. In war. The only three outfielders ahead of them are all M V piece Mike Trout, Mookie Betts and Kane's Brewer's teammate Christian Yelich. Most of his value comes on the defensive end. Since 2012. Lorenzo Cain leads all of Major League Baseball with 12 robbed home runs around Major League

"And this is the Christian Yelich. Tonight he had an inside the park home run. It was an opposite field hit balls down the left field line. It doesn't look like it's gonna have the distance. Paul doesn't go out. It bounces just right before the you know the foul territory. The outfielder men as falls into the netting, and then it takes him a while to get back up and yell. Ich hasn't inside the park home run. This is while because when you see it, it looks like It's It's a ball hit to the warning track, and it's a play above all, even if you don't get it, it's probably bounce for about a second. But because the player menace fell into the netting, and you had yellow hustling, that's what caused the inside the park home run when that falls off the bat, not thinking inside the park home run and thinking it's either homerun or a catch. Ball drops.

"Not a pretty one R Starting moment down. They're putting in the work. They have had to be tough, though. Yeah, Yeah, I mean that that hurts about Christian Yelich, not in the lineup, trying to get right already a lineup without Ryan Braun, who's hurt and low Kane, who opted out And there sitting Christian Yelich sits like what has happened. He's too good did not figure it out. I would think But that was surprising lesson and then they still want one to nothing. You see the homerun Fernando tattoos, junior. I did not out in San Diego. I know I've got to forget about it. I know. You gotta let that go, kid. I'll show you the highlight. Then you tell me how I watch it. Watch it during a break. It's like watching the home's highlights. I'll get over it. It's like it's kind of hard to tell the bridge get over. It's like and it's even worse. Because, like the Bears never drafted Mahomes. They passed him. But like Fernando Tattoos. Junior was in the White Sox organization as he was Darvish victory number nine for the Chicago Cubs pitched well, That's what I saw. I didn't see a ton of the game, but no, he pitched well. Victory Number nine Celebration will start when he gets 2 33 I assure you this home run. Yeah, I can't wait to see Mark. Let's do a little trending here quick. What's happening, Mr Merkin? What's out on Social? Yeah, There's a lot of weather with what's well, there's a lot of energy. Well, my leg hurts. "All those silly Brits. Right out there, I found out or found the Monty Python, what what are the Romans done for us in reference to the big ten players demands. I found out that the The got John cleese up in front of some giant choir south of that, and they sang the song. Oh. silly. Brits what have the Romans ever gone for us a lot really. But yeah. We're still we're still ungrateful. All right, welcome back still struggling with the poll question today I. Don't know what to make it on. I. Was GonNA. Make It golf related jeter. But sometimes I feel like we're shoving golf down people's throats. You know. Josh, you want to go see Major, championship week, i. callender year I know and golf has been pulling good ratings. Minutes pandemic restart that pretty good ratings compared to other stuff I don't know. Could do it on that I could do it on You know can do it on the box. Put it. Not Worried. It's just. I'M NOT GONNA. Get stupid about this. It's not a big deal. It's not even big deal. They're not the number one seed, I don't think. Just for. Why's it. Is, okay. Other than the raptors. Poll other than the Raptors. Who is of most concern in the East Sir Boston Boston, indie. Philly and the wizards or Miami the not the wizards they they were. They were Landau for eight weeks. Cardio lost again, last night. Really kind of pointless for them to be there. But I hear that the hear the bubble chickens. Delicious. Enjoying the dull lamps are great eggs. Box Score Billy is in the house. He parked his bike, he's ready to go. He loves sports, like nobody's business. Journal's. Seriously excited I'm Kinda shy, but mostly excited all right box score. What's going on young man. Thanks same. Here's what happened yesterday in sports. The big news of the day was that the big ten schools said that they are going to play football and one of those schools is the badgers. So the badgers are go play football. Yeah. Badgers also the birds WANNA baseball game because of Adriana Hauser who he he pitched really while he, he's the Best Yay brewers Oh, and also Christian Yelich didn't play in the game. So hopefully, he got a good napping, my mouth says sometimes when you don't feel good, you just need a good nap. In the NBA. Lebron. James say he doesn't care that the president doesn't watch basketball I. Mean I don't get how he doesn't watch sports best speaking of basketball today, the bucks play basketball again and I really hope they win because they lost the last two and they only have to win one more, and then they can also take a nap. Back to you. I. Like. Seriously cited I'm Kinda shy but multi excited well. Said box score billy. Thank you for that. All right four, one, four, seven, nine, nine, one, nine, seven, three, look at who is in the House are man Mr. Dolf is in Good Morning Dolf, how we doing today goods as you I. AM excellent. Sir. Thank you very much. It's great to see a schedule. Schedule out there on the horizon for football. Now, the only trick is actually playing the Games. One of the big scuttlebutt stories is the fact that Ohio State and Michigan because of this pandemic schedule will meet each other earlier than they have since nineteen, thirty, three and October twenty fourth meeting some people understand it and are fine with it. Others are like. I don't like it. I don't get that one myself. Instead Buckeye fans get my Iowa Hawkeyes on the last game. Just, kind of odd my tradition man I don't. Think. So I was going to play Wisconsin after Thanksgiving, I think that's two days after Thanksgiving. Now, that games been pushed up to earlier, you'll number fourteen. Now. Now, the big question is doesn't look like there's going to be what Barry Alvarez the Athletic Department yesterday sending a letter to students saying. No no student, no student tickets will be sold this year and then some Season tickets are saying I got the same letter. Are you a season ticket holder? Is that does that mean flat out knows? No. stands nowhere in email. Does he say no fans, but he said with your season ticket money, you could straight up donate it to the athletic department. Sorry. What was that again you? Just, just give it to us. Or you can ask for your money back or you can defer your payment until next year's season tickets. So it based they're planning on having fans at any game. Are they offering you a perk like Noah's Ark Shutdown Wisconsin dells yesterday. But they said if you push your season tickets to twenty twenty one, they'll give you a free buddy ticket. If you donate amount of dollars, you get your name on a certificate or something IDA whatever. Okay. Nothing. That was really intriguing. We do not I mean if you really love the program and you're flush with cash and gator is on both of those. That's true. Then you can go ahead and donate your money and just say here. have it. I have a hard time believing that a lot of people are GonNa, do that these are tough times, uncertain times with possible more tough times coming, you really WanNa just hand over your money. Tie University football program unprecedented. You could. They are unprecedented. Indeed. Thank you. Know he's going to do that Xavier those people between the between the thirty five or forty s that are. Retired in the AH sweets probably. Yeah. They'll say, sure let me just write this check and we'll see if the money's already gone I. Mean you've you've the money's center any? So I mean well, but you could get. Correct. Back, but technically out of your bank account at this, well, no, it's it's can trace it tracing, pulled on hold on time. But time I time Josh, Josh, Sidebar, yeah of course. This is how this is how he looks at money apparently, Eric, he just looks at like, oh. Yes. Gone already. I'll never get it back. So fascinating. Yeah. But that's also really easy when you know there's more money. I, guess that's what it is. He probably just thinks who cares this money that money. It's all just come from the giant money tree, right? Have you ever spent like seven dollars and been like man? That was probably. has she tried to write that back. Right? It's almost like if he takes money out of the ATM, all that money's gone. So let me just drop it on the ground here. Instead of put it in my wallet, He has already gone. It's hard to look at it. All right. We're, but anyway, anyway. Okay. All right brewers hit seven shutout from. Adrian. Hauser. This guy has been awesome I mean going back to late last year kind of came out of nowhere always had the tools, and now he has he has really solidified himself that rotation seven inning shut up all last night, and here's the troubling part of that game last night Eric. So guard at your offense singling the only run, this team has has no bath right now, I, know Yelich has been the main reason, but you know. What they're doing so bad. They don't have bats. It's hard to get. That, without a ban. Yeah, that's a good point i. didn't think about that. Swinging their arms who? Yeah, that's happened. Really if they make more contact than they have been. Oh No. No. But they won. That's right. It one one nothing in their four and five of the young season. They play the white sox again tonight in Chicago. While the bucks have an afternoon or down the bubble Orlando against the Miami. Heat. This is Miami team that beat them twice this year. Is that the team you want to avoid? Yes. In the playoffs Miami. Ted said yesterday with the Bucks of drought. If you go back to before Cova, they've dropped six their last aches. Okay alarm bells. Stall Stop. Ball as they say in pick up basketball. Yeah. A win today would be great. It wasn't do this. Yeah. Yeah. Fifty four and fourteen win today..

The Brewers are working on contract extension with Christian Yelich that could exceed $200 million

"Christian Yelich might be the next superstar in sports to put pen to paper on a massive contract the brewers India which are closing in on what is being reported as a nine year two hundred fifteen million dollar contract now if you're like me when you first hear that nine years and two hundred fifteen million for Christian Yelich who was the MVP two seasons ago any runner up for the most valuable player award last year when he got hurt and missed a month you're probably thinking to fifteen does not seem like enough and I would tend to agree with you about that he is taking a dramatic discount to sign this extension which is basically seven years a hundred ninety million in new money when you just saw it the rain don't who hadn't been in the top two in MVP voting over the last two years in the National League get seven years and two hundred forty five million to go to the angels in free agency when you've seen our unato in Colorado no one or not get a massive two hundred and thirty plus million dollar contract over eight seasons and here we're talking about new money seven and one ninety for a guy who might be the best player in the National League the deal was first reported today by the athletics some of the details of trickled out of come from ESPN's Jeff Passan he's got this basically yellowish would play the next two seasons starting this year on his current contract so he's scheduled to make I was about to say only how funny is that only twelve and a half million in two thousand twenty and then fourteen million next year but you know I laughed at that as far as the production B. provides and and the elite performance is gonna provide Daddy's shopping in the bargain bin that's finding one of your favorite movies in the five dollar DVD been at your favorite electronics store so the extension for that seventy one ninety would basically kick in for the brewers in two thousand twenty two and go through two thousand twenty eight and there be a mutual option in the final year in twenty twenty nine but you go back two seasons ago when Yelich won the M. V. P. he established himself after leaving Miami where he was an excellent hater and a lot of folks felt like maybe he would win a batting title at some point but didn't get a lot of help we did have a lot of production and protection rather to go along with his production there just weren't players around him as good as him to help him out as they were going to getting rid of all their pieces Giancarlo Stanton Marcello's owner he was the last guy standing so we got to go to Milwaukee and give it a try there and immediately flourished completely took off and became one of the greats in the sport and for my money right now this moment Christian Yelich of the brewers is the most underrated player in baseball which might sound ludicrous considering that he wanted MVP award is finished in the top two twice in two years but I still think when we have conversations in this industry about who the best baseball players are Mike trout's name comes out of everyone's mouth first then you get some of the bigger names that maybe don't even belong in that conversation right now based on performance like Bryce Harper Manny Machado those types but who is the second best player in the sport yeah which might be the answer Cody Bellinger won the MVP award with the Dodgers last year is in that vicinity I'd say there's a a four player tier behind trout vying for the number two seed in the sport with the yellow shoes twenty eight Ballenger who's only twenty four just barely starting to think about Mookie Betts becks is now twenty seven went from Boston to LA this offseason in a deal that took forever to consummate and Alex Bregman the twenty five year old villain now with the Astros who is so much better four in the wake of finding out that Houston Bregman has cheated over the last couple of seasons at least dating back to seventeen and some of eighteen that they've admitted to Bregman the MVP of the American League last year in my opinion ended up not finishing right behind trout and I kind of quantify things as non trout division because he should just get the award every year so I kind of say well other than trap who was the MVP this year you're competing against a legend the likes of which is going to go down as maybe the best players ever lived or one of them no one of the mount Rushmore baseball stars essentially and a guy that you'll meet people listening right now we're not gonna see another player like him probably in our

"Hello and welcome to MLB show. My name is Michael Baumann and I'm a staff writer her at the Ringer Let's get things started with Zach Cram and some unhappy topics. Are we start things off with Zach Cram. I realized that like I always end the intro. Throw by saying you're coming on and then start this segment by saying you're coming on so maybe I should just be like surprise. Guests who it is hello I would before we get into the good stuff stuff just like to start by issuing thank you to Hansel robe lists who struck out two batters in a stellar save appearance on Sunday to push me pass producer bobby by a grand total of one strikeout into the ring or fantasy baseball championship bobby already peeved that the mets loss ro bliss on waivers last year just before he got good now has all the more reason to despise us angels closer so I just want to start out by thanking him and you you know just mentioning that as bobby that can later edit these words into really anything he wants. This is I was. GonNa ask. You Care to respond but clearly you do. This is a bridge too far far honestly so when listeners get to this podcast and they here just just Mike talking to no one is silence on the other end. They'll no way I will say. I do also feel a measure of complicity in in this 'cause the first two years. We've had this fantasy baseball league. I've snuck into the playoffs and upset. Zak is the number one seed and my team was dog. UGH Shit this year so I was unable to perform that service for you bobby so I apologize. There's nothing people like more than hearing three dudes talking about their fantasy baseball SPO- leagues. That's not dislike less than sixty seconds okay. Honestly that's also less depressing than the topic. We're about to talk about so well. It's a perfect segue because is I lost due in large part because I lost Christian Yelich Justin Turner and I don't even remember the last person was so that's where we are yeah well. All that is sort of a symptom of we're GONNA talk about season ending injuries and there've been so many they're hard to keep track of so Zach what do you what do you have for us on this topic doc basically the sheer number of impactful season entering season ending injuries. We've seen over the last week this since as we talked last time last Tuesday has been kind of overwhelming as I guess there are a couple different sorts of injuries to think about. There's is the injury to a player we really like watching but which doesn't affect the playoff race like. Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani are both out for the season which basically renders angels Games James unwatchable the rest of the way but angels games weren't really going to be the key drying point over the last couple of weeks of the season anyway but then there's the other kind of injury which directly affects the playoffs. Christian Yelich is out for the season hobby biases out for the season. Anthony Rizzo is an out for the season but he'll be out for at least a week I think the the report was after hurting his ankle over the weekend so really like there aren't that many playoff races to watch right now it's down to the wildcard the NFL central control and the NFL wild card race and we're having injuries directly removing some of the most fun players from the teams and it it kind of sucks as we enter the last stretch run yea. I should say I believe hobby is out for the rest of the regular season but they're not ruling out a return sometime later in October. which you you know this being the cubs that might functionally be the same thing but yeah. I said that didn't happen. that happened before Lascaux. 'cause I talk a little bit with Sahara about it last week but yeah the Rizzo thing happened. over the weekend ends like every time. I've this this thing with ankle injuries where every time I see video of it. It looks like my first reaction is Oh my God. They're going to need to amputate the foot and it always turns out to be Oh now. It's a it's a sprained Ed. He'll back in two weeks I. It's like just this way with an ankle. Injuries were just always looked so much worse than They actually ends up being yeah. It was pretty bad so I was kind of surprised that the diagnosis was relatively mild eld as it ended up being the issue is just not that much time in the season left so even though they don't have to like cut the leg off the fact that Rizzo resolve even missing a week or two at this point functionally means the cubs needed to completely adjust their lineup as they're fighting for a playoff spot and I think this is where we get into like you know. There's that saying that in March madness the basketball tournament people like watching upsets for the first couple of rounds but then they really want to watch the favorites battle in the final four and I don't know it's really pithy sayings yeah. I don't know how I really fully subscribe to that belief but it is kind of cool to see players like Niko Horner who you talk about last week step up and make an impression in his first major league appearance. He's hitting three sixty four as we talk on Tuesday morning and helping helping the cubs win some games by there is I think a functional difference between watching Nego Horner and Ian HAP- try to fill in for the star players and just watching buyers and Yelich battle for a playoff spot that actually steers into the one like semi troll elite take the like. I'm not sure how much I believe this but I'm going to say it anyway if this is actually not the worst time to lose your star player because the difference between Hobby Debiasi Nico Horner like on Bat to bat basis is almost imperceptible then the difference between the two of them is going to be played out over the course of one hundred sixty see two games in which case it is vast you know even as as you know intended no disrespect to Nico Horner who seems like a perfectly fine major shortstop but you're you're going to notice that over six months by even in this like on one little like obviously you want to go to war with your best a slide up when the Games matter most and certainly if horner comes up in a situation in the wildcard game for instance the cubs will probably I wish they had hobby Baya's but he's not substantially less likely to get a hidden at situation. If you just take that one at bat like maybe it's a difference of of like five percent to like. It's almost a a matter of I think we know better than to say the playoffs or a crap shoot oh as glibly as we did a couple years ago but I think there's still so much randomness that if particularly if you're a team like the cubs it has quality players to either inserted into the lineup or move around and this is different for say Christian Yelich in the brewers 'cause he is so much of that offense like I I say that I and of course they're gonNA come back and make the ploughs now just because of that but like I almost feel like you can deal without your star player. Flyer for for even a couple of weeks and not miss that much particularly if it's a position player yeah I think I when I was saying that I was conceiving of it. More as an entertainment proposition as opposed to now baseball is not an entertainment proposition. It's an opportunity for arbitrage by it. You're right like even going by a framework like war like if a superstar player is worth six wins over a season over the course of two weeks that's half a win and over replacement player and maybe they could slump. There's certainly no saying that buyers would perform better than horner over such a short span but I think there is an entertainment perspective here that's worth considering because these games are just under spotlight more like over the course of the summer months and when I'm watching any given couple of baseball games every night. I'm just flipping back and forth. I have like the game changer tool which allows me to pick players. I just WANNA see their bats from and now you combine those players and put them in a race where I'll be watching those games anyway because they just matter more for the rest of the season and the standings that like I was really excited to watch the elhage try and do what he did last season in in last September as the brewers push to win the division. He hit three seventy five zero eight eight zero four and looking at those numbers. I am honestly shocked that his on base percentage was only five hundred because it felt like he was reaching base four times a game. I'm surprised that number isn't like eight hundred looking at it now and Yell Itch was starting off the September hot as well and that matters to the team but that also matters from the perspective of people watching brewers games even if they're not brewers fans. It's just fun to watch a sport where baseball players cannot typically single handedly do anything for their team like Lebron. James can in basketball but trying eyeing but seen players come the closest that can and try to do that is part of the fun of September. I think yeah well I would say. There's a counterpoint to that and I certainly I don't think you're wrong but I I also wonder if absent something like the great individual performance like Yelich down the stretch last ear or a Madison Bumgarner twenty fourteen or Corey Kluber unanswered Miller in two thousand sixteen like absent a truly transcendent individual performance formats. I wonder if there's sort of like it's sort of like a Friday news. Dump idea that there's a fixed amount of column inches that a newspaper can print in a day and like there's a fixed amount of excitement that a neutral fan can have over over a postseason and insofar as that changes it changes so much much more on team outcomes than than individual outcomes like it doesn't it. I think it matters less whether we have a hobby. Baya's were were Nico Horner in the lineup then whether the cubs you know force a five game division series or a seven-game Elsie ass or something like that and the as as far as the individual games as long as the Individual Games had series of dramatic heroes will reveal themselves somehow and so as much as we like the established star are coming out and pulling assessment. It's down the stretch in two thousand fifteen or Manny Ramirez in two thousand eight we also like to see the UNSUNG hero zero pop up here. The David exe died so you know not to invoke the ultimate cliche but yeah that's exciting in its own way as well particularly if it's young player fire he's just getting his first taste of major league action so I you know I think and you know just look back to that incredibly fun brewers last year once she got into the postseason as in yellow is not the is not the player. I really remember like you remember Brandon Woodruff. You remember gyulay's chassis like he's yelling is not the the guy I remember really defining that postseason run for the burs once they got into the playoffs so if you're looking at it from that perspective I think you know we will. We will find heroes in narratives. There's certainly some air to that like even as we end the two thousand ten decade the biggest postseason heroes of the decade are probably Madison Bumgarner who we might have expected as an ace pitcher and then like David freeze. Nobody probably expected to become one of the most valuable world series contributors of all time the I think the distinction there is between what you're saying is like heroes will emerge but that's not necessarily you don't go into a postseason series necessarily necessarily expecting any of those things to happen so I think that's the difference between anticipation and then reaction. If that makes sense like we are going to here's anyway away but we can't necessarily anticipate that excitement like we can when yell at shes involved there even like a lower tier player like Byron Buxton who the twins are going to make the.

Christian Yelich Suffering Broken Kneecap Is Brutal for Brewers

"Right around the same time the Ballenger was cracking champagne and the Dodgers were celebrating their seventh straight and a western title. yeah which was on the road in Miami. racking his kneecap. an agonizing in the most flew key. ill timed manner possible. good for the brewers hitters not great for Jay Sanders the LX crumbles to the ground after phallic one office bush gonna need a better. right off the top of the knees the lecture in a rough feel free this is out having a chat here with. yell itch just as he knows where the injury is ailing yell it's is trying to shake it off as best you can we're starting to get into the territory where he may not be able to stay in this game trying hard to fight it off but the pain is not subsiding for him right now. yeah the trailer can't really roll out there and come with that. that's sports ray for a fractured shattered knee. you mean that frozen aerosol won't work on a fractured shattered knee. that is the absolute worst eighteen games left. in MVP caliber campaign and a super flu key foul ball shatters all of the knee in an instant okay understand injuries are part of the game they happen. it's just not part of this game but every game losing more the face the Major League Baseball during a playoff push with less than three weeks left in the year man that is brutal that's beyond brutal session fury aiding this something that flew key could happen and that guy in that moment. I mean that's when those things were that doesn't just sock for the brewers that sucks for everybody who enjoys watching one of the game's best players do his thing and do it really well it goes without saying you cannot replace Christian Yelich you could not have picked a worse time have a fluke here thing happen especially while running down the cubs won game back eighteen to play. and don't think that broke through don't know exactly where they're at what's at stake. the Milwaukee journal reported their players were watching TV in the clubhouse insuring a throwing error by the cubs that allowed the Padres take four to lead in a game against San Diego Padres eventually went on to win. so it is that time of year officially scoreboard watching cheering when the other guy throws one in the dumper. and the boys have to do this now without their best player for the rest of the year I'm not saying they're dead I'm saying it's got that much more difficult forty four dongs one hundred six ribs thirty bags ridiculous numbers now they're all on ice at the worst possible

"I picked Christian Yelich I guess and it has nothing to do with the first half of this season and has almost everything to do with the fact that he just hasn't stopped since last since April of last year fan graphs war rating has yelling at twelve point four the next best would be Christian Yelich at twelve point four in the next best would be bellinger at nine point five. I I loved all those stats. I mean it's good to see you guys came back from your trip to Cleveland like ready to cook. ooh I agree I mean I think it's bellinger but I think we're I just WANNA ask. I think we're on the same page that this is basically a question of team success though right like that's the tiebreaker were you at this point. Essentially once you go down and all the MAZARS stats and it's like well. There's no there's no running away with it. Then you kinda go to. I think Dallas laid out in what jared suggested that Yelich is basically having as good of a statistical season is true by by the way since I don't really disagree with anything you guys said all time first-half opie s in the N._F._l.. So going back to nineteen thirty three the first year of the All Star Game Yelich first-half opiates ranks twenty first all time and the best since Actually Bryce Harper's twenty fifteen so not that long ago and bellinger first-half opie s ranks tied for twenty sixth all-time in the pretty pretty elite company yeah. I'd say so the A._l.. M._V._p.. Gentlemen I feel like we're getting to a point where when we start having this conversation and Major League baseball does this throughout clubhouses houses and we used to do this when tiger was tighter every tournament that we that we get together on that we bet on that we have a pool on like the masters tournament the Open Shit like that. These are tireless pools meaning inning. You don't get to pick so he. He's not an option. It's the field that you're selecting from tiger is not an option so I almost feel like Mike Trout is kind of becoming that guy when we start to have these conversations because coming I mean when I say becoming because like we're just completely eliminating any possibility that any player would ever even come close to Mike Trout and we know what happens when you fly close to the sun you get it fucking torch Jerry look at your face. There's a reason why might trout is who he is because he seemingly never gives other folks like again. I always go back to Miguel Cabrera having to win the triple fucking crown to prevent might trout from winning the M._v._p.. And didn't have a better season and so it's might trout but for I think for our conversation sake aside from trout is where the conversation gets interesting in the A._l.. That's where where else will appear on the ballot exactly that's and I and I think that's I don't know if it's necessarily fun to do it that way but for me anybody not named might trout. I think the M._v._p.. At this point in time is Alex Bregman interesting. I mean I think I think your point about who is second. After trout or third.

"And she just kept saying, magic over and over again. So then I just started referring to him as a Madge off clearly. Yeah. Everybody remembers thing with Derek Dietrich where I just started calling him the D And no one remembers that hours good. I mean riddles his nickname's gotta be Ridler. Now you've got to imagine. But they're experimenting with him in centerfield. And Lewis Brinson has been moved to right field in the minors sort of addressing which you've always said, which is just a terrible because they got rid of every good outfielder. So they now need outfielder you shocked at how much I know about the Marlins minor league system has I'm surprising myself. I'm remembering this correctly, and I could be wrong. I remember on opening day. They had people's nicknames next to them. So you get to know the player whatever and I think JT riddles nickname was t- because I guess, JT was too long. I could be wrong but I know there was someone that had just simply one letter. As their nickname. And it was like a very simple name that didn't need to be short. I liked how JT riddle and then we had JT real Mito, and they both one of them puts the dot in between Jay and the team. And one of them does. I don't remember which one which but they like we're both like no. You put the dots and the other one was like, no never dot so someone should have been named Jay, Don or something like, right? We welcome in Dan Le Batard are resonant Derek Dietrich expert who yesterday for some reason, said that separated himself from his comment Dietrich was a minor league hitter. Yeah. You put several years there that weren't there that you said this last season that they're Dietrich was a minor league ball black. He's berry bonds. It was it was two years ago Barry Bonds, and he hit three home runs yesterday. How many heads does he have this, easiest thirty hits seventeen of which are home runs? Imported update JT real mutual dots. Thank you very much, Derek Dietrich is now third tied for third. In the National League with home runs. It means two of the top three homerun hitters in the National League or Christian yelich Derek Dietrich. I don't think it's fair to hold Dietrich against the Marlins. I don't and not just because I was wrong about him like they waived him. They simply wave claimed him. They weren't trying. Everyone was wrong Marlins were just one of all the other type I feel like the rest of baseball agreed with me when he was waived and all of them said, you know what he's not a major leaguer, did they not agree with at least upset with it. But it was mainly because I just liked Eric Dietrich, and I thought like you know what I mean this team is going to be bad. What does it kill you to have their on your team? But I did not expect us. I don't think anyone did. It'd be great if this year in the homerun derby. It was American League versus former Marlins, and it was just like. Derek Dietrich Christian yelich owes Oona. We could find someone else saying that what a bus of a trade that's been putting he's been injured older problem Marlins killing that trade stand barely plan at all. So he doesn't even make the former Marlins Rosser. You can maybe try to crack the American League man. This is funny. What's happening with their D Derek DJ three homers in a game? And now Furthermore, I'm about this. When he's having that bloop wasn't blue, but it was a double where he was shirtless. A game winning double, and he took off his shirt. It's no lie. It's the background on my computer. Like I'll show you right now. Background. I'm like that. This is the background like you can see it. Yeah. I wanted to put this on a t shirt, but I figured I might run into some sort of legal issues with, like the photographer. He's so hand, he's so hand forced yelich is in that photo. Happy. So happy. We really do have a lot in common people's they look like which is insulting the ham and really flattering to me. But it also has garbage back. Did we have way way more common than originally thought? But is not likely to be in the starting lineup today. Monday for yelich nothing yet on the nihil. What do you think here that doesn't sound severe? Would you start them and just go with it? Because even if you miss the first two games, I like five games of of yellow jen's better than what most their home all week to doing with yelich little little back tweak. You've got to start them just hope for the best. It's like homo week. He's going to miss today. But it was a lefty anyways in Kyle Freeland. He's it all what all of his home runs at home. They're gonna call Griffin canning and let him debut on Tuesday, a prospect of note what what do you got out on Griffin? Canning is he somebody that you think could play himself into immediate. Makes league relevance. Or is this a wait and see sort of deal with the with the right hander? Yeah. With the twenty two year old right hander. I think he got to pick them up with the state of pitching. And he's specially the state of the angels pitching. I think there's no reason to think that he can't just stick in the rotation rest of the year there. And I think he's got the upside of probably a number three starter and fantasy. Okay. "Yelich hits it in the air team right field. Racing back. His Conforto that all changes here yelich goes deep and the brewers lead at five zero one he is now tied for the most home runs before may first in major league history that is his fourteenth Dinger of the year in the fifth inning is the brewers. Take a five one lead to the bottom of the fifth with one out Pete Alonzo gets a basic here comes Robinson canal Woodruff's pitch ground ball to third could be to shot to second for one Arshi is the first time and the brewers turn the double play and eating is over. Second time Robinson knows involved in a double play. He had these strike them out. Throw him out earlier on brewers would add to their lead in the top of the sixth inning. Robert gazelle machine comes on to pitch I battery faces. Hey, Seuss Aguilar. He strikes out. But then Ben gambled. Brandon Woodruff would be done after five innings. He gives up just one run on six hits junior. Garrett comes into pitch in the sixth inning throws a scoreless. Six brewers would get into a little bit of trouble though in the seventh inning. Alex Wilson comes onto pitch ipad or he faces. I'm Ed Rosario Rozario for two and hope for five the series. It's one torch right-center long run, Lorenzo Cain. Over as head. And this one is going to be gone all run for a metro sorrow and the Mets at around at sixty two next hitter. Travis d'arno pitch from Wilson ride in the left field line is headed for the corner. It's a fair ball off the wall gamble gets too quickly. Fires into second base. Here's at the tag is in time. They got Dr no not perfect draw from Ben Gammel. Yeah. They get them at second that ends up being a huge play, especially when you consider how the rest of this ending would go down. Dominic. Smith comes up as a pinch hitter. He would walk and that would end the day for Alex Wilson. Alex Claudio comes in would give up a base hit Jeff mcgeough or there's also a throwing error on the play next hitter. After that as pita Lonzo. Here's the pitch. Fly ball field. Gambled back. This ball is gone. He Alonzo homerun. Number nine and just like that. It's a one run game. Yes. Six five. So that's where Dr no being out at second really has a big role in this game in the way it was going so one run game. But the brewers would get some more insurance in the top of the eighth inning. "christian yelich" Discussed on Baseball Tonight with Buster Olney

"So it's a challenging decision. There's no there's no question about it. In terms of giving yourself the best percentage chance to stop them from scoring. Christian yelich is probably among the most people that I met in baseball. And I related a conversation yesterday in the podcast that I had with him a few years ago. And I do think that he probably has changed his own perception of self dramatically because I remember standing at spring training with in Colorado, and we're talking about his power, and this is a time where he had double digit homers that was a lot and I just mentioned to him. Boy, if you ever got out of Miami, you might be able to hit twenty someplace and when I mentioned that number. He looked to be like I said that he was going to climb mount ever spoke like like twenty. Wow. And it feels like that he's learned a lot about himself over the last year. I mean, you know, do you think that when he was back with the Marlins he thought himself as maybe being a guy was gonna hit forty or fifty and a season. I'm not sure I, you know, the one thing that that's so interesting is I remember that you know, the team that won that one the the WB see what was it was a two thousand and seven bright seventeen when they won. And I can remember talking to him after the fact and couple of things that stood out one that I thought was really funny was that I believe he told me that he was cut from every team USA team that he ever tried out for and then he hits heard which is funny. Team USA team. And then there's the major leaguer shore team USA it hits heard. And then the other part of it was I do remember specifically having a conversation with him. And he wouldn't give me the names. Although you had a decent idea who they were how he would go out to dinner with guys and listen to them, and they were talking about launch angle stuff. They were talking about the need to get the ball in the air and having the conversation with him about that. That's not really what he does. What how he clearly absorbed? What they were saying. So he's a smart smart dude as well guy. I yeah. And so I think there's another thing, you know, he he's one of those guys. It's reminds vow to that, you know, when he hits the three home. Runs. He did his flips on the field the other day. I don't know whether you saw that. But they made a big deal about it. Because he goes this flip drill underneath. And he does it every day. But he decided to do it on the field to see where seaworthy ball would go and everybody with the brewers was like freaking out about it. Because they don't get to see it normally. And then he he did it on the field. But I mean, you know, he was in a stretch was like old for nine and feels like, you know, the sky is falling. It's like out to you know, we go to Houston. Sometimes you'll see wholesale to aid. You'd be like, hey, man, how you doing? And he'll be like. Yeah. Man. I'm just I'm grinding. And like everybody else around him is looking at him like, really? Three twenty five average your sleep. So, but these guys have been places that ninety nine percent of the other players haven't been you know, what I mean? That's what. And they're fueled in a way, that's different. So it's just. It's what makes them special. They're just different last one on yelich. I'm gonna ask you the same thing. I asked him at the beginning of this season about the Christian yelich trade with the Marlins if you look at what is doing and he's twenty seven years old. He's already won MVP award. The key piece in that deal is, you know, for the Marlins Lewis Brinson hitting two seven to fifty eight on base percentage. He's twenty four years old yelich now has more extra base hits than Brinson has hits this season. At the time. This deal went down. I remember getting texts from people with other team saying, oh my God. This is a one sided trade. So I suggested the Tim the beginning of the season. When y'all got off to a great start..

"Did you collide with Aguilar there? Why? You saw the replay poly bag trying to get over him. Is. Travis Shaw said it was a dirty play. Yelich was a dirty play by dirty player. Wonder what your response would be to those? I play baseball. I go out there and try to win for my team. So. Their common. So I try to win games. But I don't want to run too hard because that's not my Cup of tea unless it's trying to trip somebody or land on their ankle. Then I give one hundred percent there. What are you doing? He was wrong in what he did Orel Hershiser called him out. Yes. And strike is a very cerebral guy. The sound soundbite. I just let my my talents talk for me. Orel Hershiser took aim and Manny Machado for the questionable plate. Now. Joe Torry the chief baseball officer for major league baseball attended the game and told the LA times he expects to review the plague declined further comment. He's responsible for determining player discipline, which includes fines, and or suspension can't imagine that they're going to suspend him in the playoffs. Christian yelich called him out Orel Hershiser who was doing the pregame postgame show on sports net. LA said, it's embarrassing. It's embarrassing to himself. It's embarrassing to the game. He added. I love him as a player. I wish he would hustle on the basis more. I wish he wouldn't kick first baseman. Yes. Paulie? I can't believe in the playoffs or talk about them. This guy is I really use contract. I just wish he didn't kick first baseman like I'm just never going to be Johnny hustle kinda guy. It's not my Cup of tea. Some believe at the end of the cut. He says, I know it looks bad. But what if he's he he knows it looks bad? But he still won't try. Yeah. And I like how he's he sounds surprise when they go when he goes. What many from your vantage? What happened on the play with Aguilar? Why did you collide with Aguilar? Why? Me who's Aguilar? Who's Machado Machado? There was one by wait. We had a game. What are you doing? Fries by that question. You tell me what? You're talking to me. I was just in the press box. I would I tell you from your vantage what happened on the plane with Aguilar. What happened? Collide with Aguilar there. Why? Oh my God. I mean through it all you got to win in a must win situation. You you got Clayton Kershaw going today. In Christian yelich is. He's trying to say the right thing that Machado's a dirty player. It's just he kinda messes it up in how to get. There is a player that has a history of those.

"App going to be a good serious guys. Listen, it's gonna be dodgers starters going up against brewers bullpen guys like the brewers are gonna play matchup after matchup with all their litany of arms on my prediction. Nobody asks them giving it anyway. Dodgers and seven, Clayton Kershaw LCS MVP. That's what I see coming. I think one of the best stories that we haven't talked about is yellowish not getting the triple crown, what a tremendous story. I mean, just being so close right there and now to build to have that ability in the playoffs. The biggest state, not too many eyeballs only Milwaukee this season. Let's see if he can do placate that performance Christian yelich took the plate in game one sixty two with the ability fetal hit a home run. I think it was the fourth inning headman on. And second, if you had a home run, they're gonna have it. That's how close you reason why Nick followed up on that information because he is shocked. But I pulled that guy. I was. I was very these out here watching 'em OB extra innings. Christian yelich takes, I guess, time for an early in around today, the chiefs and patriots of a big showdown on Sunday night football, we will get to see the best two tight ends face off in gronk and Travis Kelsey. This season. Kelsey has more yards catches and touchdowns then gronk so far, see you or out on Travis Kelsey being the best tight end this season, knowing how much you love it. So I gotta tell you latching Travis. Hey, America, eight gronk how's the crown? But man, it might be transferred about mid game. Definitely. This season grunk watching them the toll is starting to. You can see he's starting to lumber little more early in the season. So I got my own grown. Kelsey ultimately will be the best tight him potentially this right now, this moment you're out right now right now too many weapons around them. Grunk is the best. All right. I am in because up to this point the season, Kelsey just been better and we're gronk had really distinguished himself was his blocking. He's still that type of blocker. My friends at pro football focus. Our friends, I should say, say Travis. Kelsey has been one of the best run blocking tight end in football this year. So when his receiving production is that much greater than gronk so far and he's not at as much of a deficit on blocking? Yes, far this year it's been Travis, Kelsey and move. Forward. I have so many fewer health concerns with Kelsey, the most talented tight end I've ever seen right now. I think Kelsey grunk looking for another injury, Kelsey, looking for a date for another reality show tonight on FOX week. Six kicks off with the eagles taken on the New York Giants. Vegas has Phillies three point favorites for tonight's NFC east matchup CC. Are you in or out on the eagles beating the giants tonight? Jimmy. You talked about earlier men. All at home teams have won all the Thursday night games that we believe the bus ride up the turnpike from Philly to jersey. Oddly the eagles get it done. I mean, basically it's not a real road game. No. As far as travel, absolutely. Man, I guess, sneaky. Suspicion. I'm out on this. I think the giants win. The Vegas line is tricky here when the eagles are only three point favorites, I feel like biggest is begging you to bet the eagles. Oh, how could you not take him? Giants are one and four. You only got a late three points defending James, it's a must win game. They've been jams when. In Vegas begs you to go one way you go the other out. I think the giants get a win mix. The giants are doing better at one and four because they scored thirty last week. Yeah, I'm saying that they have little. You'll hear a little offense of momentum after last week I stand by that he's going to get..

The internet was aflame because it looked like Kobe, Bryant actually did. He wasn't standing directly in front of Matt Barnes in the famous flinch video, and everyone was saying pussy. It's not as bad as we thought it was. Yes, I, I watched the film his hysteria instead goes back into the left. Yeah, into the left. There was significant hysteria I because everyone's like holy shit. Everything I thought I knew is a lie. People were saying, Kobe Bryant's not as tough as as we thought he was people say. Maybe Matt Barnes is tougher than we think he is a lot of things that we thought we knew. For fact, we're being questioned for about two hours on the internet, and then we saw the other images like actually not as bad as well. I think it's the other way around. I was questioning Matt Barnes toughness because I thought Matt Barnes was cool enough to like put the ball directly in Kobe's face. Yes, it turns out he what he was the one being to push. Why are we shaming Kobe Bryant for. For not flinching at a ball that was not thrown out his face. Right? So this is actually Matt Barnes prob. His advantage, his image took the worst hit and Coby Bryant. It also is just such a funny. Like, can I actually, you know what? Now that I'm thinking about it, I had a bone pick. This is NBA Twitter trying to steal shine at all times. I'm kind of sick of it. NBA Twitter, you guys hog a lot of the light. Okay. Everyone's like NBA Twitter, so great. MB Twitter, so grave. "There's so many good relievers now matchup believers to where it just won't happen. You know, those days of coming gone baseball or anybody had a chance to hit four hundred because of how the games evolved and and how it plays out these days. All right. So last question for me. I always wonder this. You know you've been on some bad teams. Obviously the Bruce have been insanely hot and it's I, I will say that, you know, I'll congratulate you on a crazy crazy run because it is. It's been insane. It's busy in the cubs did not choke as wanna say that on the record. They did not choke the Bruges just got really hot, but when you're on a team that wins like this, do you guys all get closer to you? Spend your sin more time with them to go out to dinner more? Can you feel it in the clubhouse where everyone kinda shifts? And it becomes more of a family coming down the stretch? Yeah, but honestly, we have that vibe throughout the whole year. I think that's why we're successful as a really good group of guys that are really close since spring training there. A lot of team dinners, or, you know, I remember what our whole team went and watched the NBA finals game on on off at some bar restaurant. So there'd be there'd be stuff that we did in the team throughout the year, and it creates that bond creates that togetherness that you need throughout the season. And when you're going into these hostile environments of these, you know, high pressure intense games or you gotta rely the judge to get through. And, and I think we created that bomb throughout the course of the year, and definitely definitely paid off for us. Well, I, that's not what I heard Lorenzo. Cain said your breast mouse. Well of man, he would never do such thing. My last question is now that there's so many people like newbies paying attention to you that might not know the real stories behind there comparing you to Pete Davidson light. That's the new thing that people are doing to ever just want to say, hey, man, I don't look like Pete Davidson. I looked like the guy that was looking that butthole. I know they've been going, they've been going hard with the Pete Davidson being for for three years, and we've made had some other things come up over the course of those three years that we've been then known for alleged allegedly happened. But yeah, it's all part of being an athlete as the internet. I guess you could have you noticed good dancer? Yeah. Have you noticed like your Instagram followers, Twitter, followers pop in like the national media? Has there been a shift where you go from just a baseball player like holy shit. Christian yelich is all over everything. I don't know. I mean, it's been hard to pay attention to it off the field because of everything that we've had going on on the field and around the team just because of just all that was just distractions. And we had so much steak at team that that focus and these last two or three weeks, you know is really like you had a lock it in? It was it was coming down the stretch run. We're playing. And so many type games that it was hard to pay attention to to anything off the field or anything that didn't have to do it baseball because of the situation Oregon. But yeah, you know, I think the fan, the fan response Milwaukee has been been awesome. Yeah, the city's really got mine the team, and it's been, it's been a hell of years. A lot of fun and hopefully. You know, we can. We can do something here in the playoffs. That's why I came back and had to talk to you guys know how to get get to back up for the playoffs. Yeah, this is going to backfire me because you're gonna win. Like are your double juicing them? Yeah. Ooh, don't you a couple of cycles do have one last question. "It doesn't stand out. Well, you mentioned the jersey. Well, okay, so let's get back to this. So he, he bought two different items. You bought like player for a day, and he bought a broadcast experience. So yesterday they introduced him, they signed him to like a one day contract. I'm doing like quotes with my fingers because you can't see because obviously, radio team. Yeah. And he took out the lineup card. And his thing is he wears like an orange jersey and he was making like he had announced a couple of months ago like this is going to be the return of Orleans man to Marlins park, and he bought up all these sections and he was giving away the tickets to come, and he wanted people to wear orange and all this whole thing. This whole return to Marlins park. Something. Yeah. And so they signed him. They gave him a jersey which was black, which is great. I love what a limit gave him right, dirtbag move. Well, here's the thing is that they don't wear. They don't wear orange anymore. Like this year, they haven't worn orange. So I on white white is the standby gave them the black jersey, which I thought was hilarious. Then I hear that he put his orange jersey on top of the black jersey and for his press conference thing and to take the who went to be his press conference. Seriously, you're because he signed a contract. I saw still with Michael hill. They're putting a contract, he's the general manager? No, he's not the general president of baseball operations. So I mean, he's the one that signs players, so he has to be there when they sign a player for a day. I'm assuming Slater was probably there. I think he might have been because he kept putting pictures and he was reporting Slater's on the Marlins. Maybe we're giving Marlins van what he wanted by the way. This is like why he spent all that money, but they signed a new player. We have to talk about the new science of Marlins man transaction, and by the way, the outfield sections that he was they didn't seem like his idea worked. Rarely didn't seem like there was lots of people wearing orange in the outfield. Rarely is there a September call up that has had this much excitement generated around it. Okay. That's enough of Marlins talk. We have a first place, Miami Dolphins situation. We'll talk about it after the break donlevatar, Chris Cody. How is it that you had a sharp single off of Matt Lehto and also played with the big prospect you played with the big prospect like coached against Lewis Brinson the center fielder that we got back. He's a five tool outfielder really good player. He went one for four against are awful baseball team still God's. If you had your ace on the hill or know what you do is you start with the heat and you go high in the zone. And then when the two strikes come curve, it. He sits dead red with two strikes. That's right. All right. What pitcher was it for you? Is it like your ace number three number two. Who's number two jig asking what she do now? Nothing visit with our show with stugatz on the ticket, right? It's an exciting time to be a Miami dolphin fan. We'll get into them in just one second, but there's actually some hockey news. Let's try to hit up all the local sports. We already had Beckham targeting. Messy for the twenty twenty season the inaugural year for inter Miami. We hit up Christian yelich Marlins man, the big transaction Marlins Mana signed with the Miami Marlins, the Florida Panthers. I think he's been released ready that's been released one day. So they actually put out a newsletter. Like we've released more orlands van after a day of the wire, ROY Florida Panthers, have a new captain and it's the best to player in the National Hockey League. Oh, yeah, I'll exander bog off. I think it was a BoJ as you because the coup very well been eggplant as a captain, but they decided to go ball cough. And I think that because he's not a very vocal player that they're doing this off a work ethic. So he's going to lead by example this year. Oh, lead by example. What happened to the last captain was Derrick McKenzie, right? Yes, he passed off his captaincy off the bog cough. He pass it off. So he's is he still playing? I don't believe so..

"So seems happier. Once the season started it sorta as sort of an outside observer, it's a little confusing to me why you allow Christian yelich who doesn't really have a lot of power in this negotiation to force his way out considering his number. It just seems bizarre to me. He must have been a real problem. And what I know about Christian yelich which is really not much just doesn't seem like that guy. I know there are these whispers that he's a bad clubhouse guy, but look at him. How could he possibly be a bad clubhouse guy? You know, I saw him one time like it was like a first or second year. I remember it was the day of the all star game. He wasn't an also at the time. Obviously it was the day of the all star game. I was walking through dolphin mall. I was going to get rotel pizza, take home, and I saw Christian yelich just walking around the mall by himself. And I was like, hey, that's Christian yelich. And I was like, this is the perfect place for Moreland to hide, like the perfect place for more than two hide is indulge. All no one would know who anybody was, and he was like, it was his first year. His second year. I'm like, I think on the only. The person in this mall who knows who he is. He does look like he'd be kind you just see. I've met a guy. I met him once at that that Tobin event where he ate crow because he hit twenty. One runs in here we are. He hit thirty one with very outside chance at maybe being a forty home run hitter, which is just the most bizarre thing to me. So frustrating because his, it's been so clear for years that he was going to turn into this guy. He's a fantastic player. He's a fantastic player can do it all. It's a bummer that he's not here, but you know, who is here the Marlins added a player. I saw recently on my timeline. Marlins man signed a contract with a with the Miami Marlins. He has bought his way back in Billy explain this me because I thought he was sort of blacklisted from the Marlins and they had an auction and Marlins man who by all accounts is wealthy, has purchased his way back into this scenario. I saw actually a video on ESPN. It's more Orleans man back in good graces with Marlins and I'm like, I don't think that's necessarily the case. So the more. Every year, do fantasy auction that they, you know, during the game, you can bid on all these experiences and one of the experience. And he always if you're watching the game, he's always bidding on everything and it'll say Marlins Manley on the entire board for like the first four innings until people come and actually start bidding things up. But he'll bid on everything at the beginning and he bid. I think I believe he won two things. He won like player for a day. Anyone like a broadcast experience. So he it seems as though because it seems that the the, the Marlins and him had had a falling out and he was, you know, well, they did. They'd be having jeeter. Do you know who I am in? He? Were there you were there at the well, she wasn't screaming he was asking, do you know who I am? He was trying to get Derek jeeter to right around in his Marlins. Mobile down ocean drive was asking to throw it a first page at this state of the Marlins meeting townhall that they had before the season where jeeter try to fix everything with the fans. They allegedly rejected some Riddick. I don't remember. It was like two hundred thousand dollar check or something that he tried to send them. He was trying to basically make up his own season ticket plans and packages, and they were like, no, that's not how it works because he wanted discounts. And then he kept proposing loyalty program where I give you more now I pay less whatever. So they had a falling out and he threatened didn't. He threaten to go to another team saying that he had several offers, but here he is still Marlins, man? Yeah. I mean, yeah, I guess royals man doesn't work like you're wearing a blue jersey..

"But when you ever hear, I like you always hear some stupid stat that this is the first time it's happened since thirty two, you rarely hear first time an OB history. It is a pretty random game that establishes a really long sample and in all those years of playing hundreds and hundreds of games, thousands for this never happened. It's kind of shocking that there's still stuff that's never happened in major league baseball, but it's random. It's random that he got a cycle against the same team. That's not like something that was skill random. You think history will remember this Christian yelich trade. That's my first question. Do you think history will remember this Christian yelich trade. And do you think it might be one of those rare win wins? Because this dude might win an MVP. I think after Paul looking at over, you can make a really solid argument that he might even be the favourite at this point for the National League. But you got Brin Diddy Brindisi will. I mean, look honest. Really, it looks like they lost his trade out. We did get Brindisi which I love. He's my favorite player, but I want to say that you have to wait to see like what the people that got. 'cause they got more than Brinson. They got other prospects, but like you would still have had yelich for like four or five more years. Let's stroll. His contract is the reason why we lost that trait, yellow chips. The perfect kind of player to build around here. I don't understand, obviously, other major league baseball teams understood the value that Christian yelich head, which is why the Marlins supposedly got this hall in their defense, which is a rare thing that you're going to hear from me, but in their defense, if you know he wasn't buying in and he was what they presented as somewhat of a locker room problem. And he wasn't going to be, you know, going along with this rebuilding, he's going to be causing problems in the locker room. Then I guess I understand what you have to move him. Just like, I don't understand the thing about the trades that I don't get is they need to cut payroll, which obviously was one of the most important things. But if they have these pieces and you really rebuilding, I mean, I guess they really liked the package from Milwaukee, right. 'cause if not, why wouldn't you hold onto him for another? You have them for four or five more years. Whatever it is like, wow. Why wouldn't you hold onto him for another year and get? Absolutely the best thing unless they felt like they really, really needed to move him. But real Nitto is doing the same type stuff as the eligible. I don't know though because there's like, that's what we hear. But did he ever say anything like did we ever hear him say anything because I, that's something that was put out there, but who put that out there because when they talked to him, he doesn't seem upset about anything like he seems like a very even keeled guy, and I never heard him like the quotes were never JT Rome, Utah said to a reporter, like I wanna move or any of that. It was always through somewhere else. So where did that come in the Marlins or making all those moves this off season, which who in the right mind, what player on the Marlins would be looking at that? Like, yes, this is awesome. Like any player is going to be like, oh, man, we just traded STAN. We just trade Zona. It makes sense for them to be a little fresher with that. But once they got into spring training room, you toes like, all right, I'm the guy here like this is kinda cool. Like, I think if yelich would have just been upset, kept quiet and got to training spring training, then we could have just moved on. And he could have been happy here just like real meat..

"It's night and day doing this local hour in mid September as opposed to hang it in the summer so much to discuss locally, Dwayne, Wade's back. You're Miami Dolphins are to annoy and I place in the AFC east you a Miami hurricanes are doing their thing. Hell even David Beckham is targeting Leo Messi. We probably won't get into that. But I just wanted to say David Beckham is targeting Lio Messi, but we begin with Christian yelich and a dejected. Billy Gill Billy. Did you watch what Christian yelich did. Last night I saw Christian yelich is the first player in major league baseball history to hit two cycles against the same team. He did it against the reds and I, you know, me I don't really pay much attention to baseball. I'd like to see what's going on on sportscenter highlights and Twitter. Just I know what the talking points are. I had a look up Christian yelich stats since the all star game. This guy's gonna win. NL MVP Billy. We started going over it me and Chris, he's not really. He's not the best at anything. He's like top five top ten in a bunch of things, but there's always a Goldschmidt that's going to be there to take the MVP is always Goldschmidt. He's always a goals went. That's going to be their hobby. By is, is there I want him to win. It would be nice if he won, but what yelich has going for him is that he's on like a crazy hot streak in the second half like the voters us they like a second half. So in the second half, he's leading almost every category might be the second half and the lack of true competition. If Satan were with the Marlins he'd be in this conversation because he's having a really good year out in the American League, but there's just stronger competition out there. But let me read you the sets Christian yelich cincy all-star break, slugging percentage, seven thirty three. That's good for first in major league baseball hit seventy seven good for first of major league baseball. Batting average three fifty five second in MLB. Opie s one point one, four, nine second in MLB since he all separate RBI fifty second. So. Oh, he's either first or second in all those categories. Since the all-star break, this guy is on an absolute tear if he was on the Marlins doing that, he wouldn't be in the conversation. It's because the team is relevant and they're gonna make the playoffs right now. They're leading the wildcard by a couple of games, three games. I think that's an excellent point. I don't really know how much of a difference this makes if he were on the the Miami Marlins they're not going to be much better because one individual player can only mean so much. I house Marlins pitching staff. They're all right. You know why this yelich thing hurts because the more than of any cycles. No, cycling Vicks. Wait. A second never had a cycle. A bit of a random thing. Wouldn't you rather have three Homer game than a cycle right now, I wanna cycle because it's never happened. I want what I can't have, and this guy has to now how many times of the Marlins Benet triple away from the psalm, I would say that a triple away from the cycle. Why? Because that's the easiest triples the hardest thing like I, I don't know this that's on this, but I guarantee you there have been so many triples away from the cycle in compared to how many cycles there have been guaranteed. Has there ever been anyone that was like a single away from the cycle and then they got another triple that's Mistry stop it for. Sorry, I would just stop it. First basement. History doesn't remember them as a as a cycle hitter. This is pretty cool Christian yelich pretty cool when it's the first thing first time that's ever happened in MLB history usually in baseball because it's been around so long. It's like, oh, this is the first time. This has happened since forty two, but this is literally the first time in anytime that happens. I mean, there's so many stupid things in baseball. Track of that. It's like the things have lost their level..
