"Does he's Chad for the Gato and chat show? We're super best friends. Super fast. All right, let's say when we were here yesterday, Pennsylvania was still in the column of Donald Trump. Georgia was still in the column of Donald Trump. Today. Donald Trump doesn't have any of the states. That he had yesterday in the Big Four. If you want to look at Arizona, certainly Joe Biden still leads but Donald Trump has cut into that lead. I believe the number is now under 40,000 votes. Joe Biden leads 89,769. All right. We're going to be exact in Nevada Trump. Excuse me. Biden picked up a lot of votes today. I like foot 14,000 some like that. So in Nevada, it's Biden plus about 20,000 votes. In Georgia yesterday. Trump was leading today. Biden's leading by 1538 votes. And I know the big ones, Arizona, But let's be quite honest. The biggest one is Pennsylvania. Absolutely. And yesterday Trump was winning. And today he's down. Almost 15,000 votes in Pennsylvania is gonna go to Trump. Excuse me. Pennsylvania is going to go to Biden. I think Nevada is going to go to Biden. George George is going to go toe that's going automatically, they said today. Ratzenberger, who's there? Who's there? Fontana said. We are going to have Automatic recount because, under like 5000, it's an automatic recount. And in Arizona Trump gained a little bit today, but not as much as he needed to. He's got to get like 58 to 60% of all these vote drops that were going to tell you about Every single day, and he didn't get there. Today was about 51%. That's not going to get the job done doesn't mean that he's going to lose Arizona, but it looks like Biden is going to win Arizona and it looks like your new president is Joe Biden. That's what I call it called today on my national show. I just reverted Ms. President elect, you know that there's apparently email from Fox. That is telling their people do not refer to him as president elect. I don't I don't think we should say that at all, because I was a little premature. Count the votes, But you know what? That's fine. Every one of those sports games where it's like 116 83. You know the game's over and they're just mopping up all the guys who didn't get a player now. That's kind of what I've also seen. Christian Leitner, throw that ball up in the end in the No. Not in that situation, if it was one of the states, and it was like George, and it was 1000. That'd be one thing. Well, I mean, listen, Do I think that Donald Trump is a one term president now? Yes, I do. But I'm not ready to call Joe Biden. President elect. I just want to get to the court battles. So with you, we could get past this and go. Yeah, And I think the court battles are totally frivolous. I can't tell you the amount of people that have come up to me. And so did you see this? You see this also totally rigged. It's Trump is totally right. This thing is rigged. Me tell you something, if something was rigged if something was nefarious if there was something out there because we scour it, Can I all day long scouring for anything? We bring it up. We have nothing to bring up today. There's nothing out there that says Donald Trump has been screwed. Except Donald Trump is a petulant child yesterday said he had been screwed and he hasn't been screwed. And you know what? To be honest. Neither have the Republican Party if you if you're Republican out there, and you're President Donald Trump, and he's the Democrats president who let's be honest, He's the president. If Trump I lost this election. It doesn't mean that the GOP lost everything they gain seats in the house. Looks like you're going to keep the Senate Donald Trump got 68 69 million votes. Come And he was a president for four years. There. I mean, and you know what? He did some really good things President. He expanded the base he brought in Get ready for this is the expanded, especially blackmails expanded big time. 35% of Muslims voted for Donald Trump the racist he did things and that, really, they should be thrilled by five seats in the House. There is only one thing that need that anybody needs to focus on anymore. This stuff's gonna play itself out. Who cares? What's going on with the counting. What matters now is what what happens in the courts. Cause this is where this is going, right? Two things two races matter. And that is in Georgia. You have to Senate races. You have to have a majority. It was a plurality that are going to be run on. I think, January 5th. If they win, one of those they retain the Senate and guess what happened if they win If Georgia wins one of the two if Georgia Republican wins one of the two Then the Senate stays GOP GOP. You know what that means? No tax. Yeah. You're not gonna have your taxes right? It's and over time it has shown if they control the Senate. And there's a Democrat in the White House. We tend to do better. We tend to do better. So I think they'll listen. I think a lot of you who voted for Trump here in Arizona and have been on the trump bandwagon. You're disappointed today. You have every right to be disappointed, but I mean, it's it's if you look back at what has happened, we talk. How many How many Supreme Court Justices 33. This was not a waste of four years for the Republicans, tax reform the way he got a ton of stuff done. Criminal justice, revenge and don't get us wrong. I mean, listen, there's still a past. Still, that would know he's got loose. He's going to lose. But you would. If I asked anybody, would you put your money out there? What makes you feel uncomfortable? We're not going to do that. So that there's a lot of stuff that Trump did that drove us crazy. Absolutely insane. There's a lot of things I hated that he did, but there's also a lot of good, but he's not going to be the president. That's what's going to happen. He will not be winning this this presidency. And and listen, You just gotta count the votes. That's all. And he doesn't want that to happen. He wants people to stop counting the votes. He thinks it's been rigged. I mean, it was a disaster. What he said yesterday it was disgusting for even the Republican Party said it was immoral that it could incite violence. He slandered our democracy. So where? Where? Listen, we've been on the air. For what? Seven minutes. We've given Trump credit because he deserves credit. On a lot of different things..

"It. Why I had to pull out the operation card to get Larry Bird to talk. And as I set out to interview these guys. One thought was in my mind Michael Magic Larry. I guess that's three thoughts. But there is a hierarchy of needs every time you're gathering information. And at the top of that hierarchy. Were Jordan magic and bird. They would present difficulties to round up magic because he's so damn busy. Jordan because he's so damn elusive. And Bird because he's so damn moody and Unpredictable get him talking. He's unbelievable. The key is to get them talking. I started out with Scottie Pippin. I arrange to meet him at a hotel near his home in Florida. With, the exception of Christian Leitner Pippen was probably the player I knew least on a personal basis. which is somewhat astounding since I had done about three, thousand, four hundred seventy eight stories on the Bulls over the years. But. They were rarely centered on Scotty. There were times I even went out to Chicago with the express purpose of doing a pip and story, and then Jordan would go for forty nine and forty two, and do something else outrageous and Jesse. Jackson would be hanging around his locker and sure enough. It would turn into another Michael Jordan story. I even felt somewhat guilty then about my treatment of. Especially since I knew, I would end up asking him even in this interview about Jordan. And I did. And he was great and very honest.

Did you immediately know once? You Saw Carolina Oh boy. This is different. Yeah, you know and the forty years I've had A. Coach do in the ACC. To me that the two players The two opponents that I think were were the most talented were Michael and Len bias and they were they were they had the it. Yeah, whatever that means they had and It's tragic that we never got to see. land show that with the Boston Celtics and but we did obviously get a chance to say with with Michael. You also had one of the great players. I covered him because I covered UNLV for years. Christian Leitner is such a icon classic I mean when we think of great players. He was this tall unique personality polarizing in college. I can remember him playing shack and getting the best of him. He's interesting. So I. Was He coach able to know he's the best. He was the biggest believer he would take a bullet for me, He is also one of those guys that could At the moment it was happening and make us teammates better. He was like a point center and You Know Colin in the history of college basketball. He has to go down as one of the top five years. Yes. I've ever seen because I, didn't see Walton. I didn't see I didn't see Kareem or Walton ice. Yeah and if you in college were for four years and we're able to go to the NC double A. Tournament each year. You could play a maximum of twenty four games. You have to win six to win. The tournament. Christians, record in the NCWA tournament was twenty, one and two. Twenty one and two. You know like. T was. Houston Alien Really You know it didn't translate as much into the pro game he was. He was a good pro player, but college wise. I've not coached a a bigger winner. then then Christian late now he's the best. Best Player to ever play. Duke Coach K. further record. You did not recruit. Michael I imagine you didn't recruit Lebron because he was going to the pros. Do you remember though the first practice? You ever had with Lebron with a Dream Team? Do you remember that practice? While we had it actually the one time when we took over, we lost in two thousand and six in the world championship, so I got a chance to see him when he was eighteen or nineteen and You know here as a player. He did not know yet. That he was a smart. Or that he had the leadership voice that he has displayed as he's matured. What I did notice. This is an interesting thing. Is, I, did notice how smart he was. You know these guys would play cards all the time and wanted to in Japan and not for you know they're just plan and I. I I watched China. Get get to know them, and I don't know what game they're playing, but there are a lot of them at the table and Lebron orchestrated the table. He knew what everybody had. He knew whatever I said. This kid is really smart. I mean he and he's got a personality, and as we then when he joined again in two thousand and seven to qualify for the two thousand eight Olympics Kobe, then joined the team I had really the too smart. Two of the smartest player ever play any sport and. They they they meshed that. Thank goodness, God bless both of them they. They they made each other better. You know I had a former accountant to us to say this, he said. He had a lot of successful clients and he said They never talk about failure. That's baked into success you you fail because you take chances aggressively, they do talk occasionally about regret and I look at you. and I think to myself Oh. You had a Laker job of the Lake Kobe. Bryant was somebody that you know I think probably try to recruit you once or twice to the NBA. Have you ever had a night that you thought you're watching? The NBA and you're thinking. Maybe I should have given it a run. I Haven't and I think coaching eleven years the US team. I probably would have had it in this time, and if I was a college coach. With the success I had when I was in my weight forty. Center, early fifties now that I think I'd probably end up being NBA coach colleges becomes. Crazy. It's it's it's crazy and you don't have. You can't develop the relationships that you used to. You know here's here's a crazy. My Walk, which has always been very very good. In the two times that I seriously thought about. The NBA was in nineteen ninety Dave Gavitt just took over the Celtics and he's wanted. A visionaries wanted a great man and a good friend. He offered me the Celtics job. And I went up actually met with read our back, and and Dave, and and I turned it down and the next two years. We want our first two national championships. the quaker thing in two five. I was close to doing it and I turned it down and a few months later. Jerry Colangelo. Offered me. The chance to be the US coach so. I think I might have regretted because those were the two iconic. Franchises for the two franchises as I grew up as a player and A. Young coach I said Holy Macro. The Celtics Lakers. Are you kidding me, but because those things happen and I got a chance to coach. these great players on the US team. I've not looked back and I've loved coaching Duke. You know I bam I. You know it's. Men good good for me. No, it's. Too is I covered, Tarkhan and I love talk. Very one of the things I always remember and I don't know if I've told you this. So Tareq was. A. Contradiction sometimes, there were some times he was so darn honest, then he was also kind of fun. Be Esser, but the thing I loved about dark..

"The most versatile big men in European history from a place around me SPN I mean, these they know the basketball and nobody's, I can't find many critiquing critiquing. Critique the pistons and Alvin nobody did that in, I don't know of Darko, and I do remember him but I don't know if he would have been better served in today's NBA because it, it felt like he was a finance seven footer member. Andre bungee Johnny with Toronto Mariano. It a solid career going for while not a bust. A disappointment. Yes. Mclovin, that's a bus though because you need your number one to carry you a certain extent. I don't you know, I t totally what you're saying. He's not a terrible player. But when you're number one, you need to hit home runs. Twenty one and a half points at age twenty five team. Not very good. Don't think what about Brad. Daugherty. I know that he was an all star, but it was in the era. The Sixers drat had a chance to draft him in eighty six and they trade him for ROY Hinton. Yeah. But it was an era in the eighties where the number one pick was a superstar center every year because there used to be centers there used to be seven for three guys in America who could dominate. I don't know what happened and let's call the three point line. Is that what it is? So I felt like Dorothy was a bus. If you had the three point line, I'd love to look at what these rosters would resemble now, if you if there was no three point line. The these big men would be back vote, then all of a sudden porzingas would be playing down low, you know, Garnett would be as center, you know, it would completely change basketball. The Durant would be a power forward, you wouldn't need anybody to be taken, you know, twenty five footers, but those guys it yet a string of you went from Ewing. Akeem shack David Robinson. It was like an age of goliaths. He's huge. Big seven foot guys. I don't see any of them in the draft there. That's how physically Bill. It doesn't seem like they're building the height. Is there? The the Bill. Right. Not their exact like David Robert, you're exactly. Well, David Robinson was an athlete. David, David was sculpted seven foot. You know, king look great, too. Even Ewing was in a big guy when he came into the league. I mean he's tall. But he wasn't big shack was big. Trying to think who else who came in where you go. Boy that guy can only play down low Alonzo Mourning. Does does built Matombo is a big man. But Zoe was you know, he was sculpted too. Franken california. Hi, frank. What do you have for me? How you doing? From bomb's gonna say, Vlada divas, another guy down low that would never pay. But you gotta talk about biggest but and I don't know why we keep giving this guy a pass Christian Leitner the guy came out at Duke. I mean he was on the dream team. You know, to me like they put him on the dream team. And I can't even remember what he drafted him. You know, I'm Minnesota. Okay. Yeah. So, you know, I mean you're the guy, you know, so I don't know. Thanks, frank. I- Leitner played about fourteen years, though. So I don't know. Can you be a bust if you play it's the other players around him? And where they were drafted know what they became but Leitner played like fourteen or fifteen years in the first seven years of Christian late news career, he averaged seventeen points and eight rebounds a game. That's definitely not a bad NBA player, but he can never match college where he was the focal point of the entire sport..

"Yes. So let me ask you about do cushion. Obviously, you're thirty for thirty. I hate Christian Leitner. It's more about Duke than than you. Why people hate Duke so much? I know it's about the success. And do you guys minded? You know, I don't mind it because it's all kinda tongue-in-cheek. I think you know. You gotta take it with a grain of salt. And did you know that before you went there? Like the didn't question. I didn't know it before. I went there because I don't think the world hated Duke basketball. You made them do it. Before me. Duke was just they were trying to get there. And they got there with the eighty six team. And then there is such a thing as called. I don't know. I can't think of the word but overload like overexposure overexposure cheese is just. But you can't help that. I mean, you guys were good coach you can't help it. But and this is something we might need to bleep in this part up. But I was working for you know. Yes, Pnn ACC network, you know, two weeks ago and. I think I heard one producer say the cameras gotta be on all the time. We got we got twenty two cameras in the Serena keep the cameras on. And I'm like what about over this? That's too much. And it happened to me a little bit. You know in ninety one and ninety two every time you saw Duke up on the screen. My stupid face was up there all the time. And I'm like, you know, go ahead share the wealth. And let's let Thomas and Bob. So there is over exposure. And I do understand that the producers and the TV networks want the thing that so they can see the ticker going up when zion's faces on the and I understand all that. But the Hague comes from overexposure from being the four years in a row now our our overexposure heaven because we were there four years straight Dover. Spos- your comes now can have it within four months because the social media and all that that's a good point Krissy later is with us here. Yeah. I don't think the nation hated Mike Kaminski pack today. Johnny Dawkins or copy Abbaker because it was they were non-threatening Jay Bilas like it was the early wave while the there's a good school. And this guy seems like a respectful coach respectable guy West Point background. There's no reason to hate them. But then to keep beating the crap out of everybody. And then you stop on somebody's chest as you did. And let let me ask you. I want to get to your background Christian later because I said this Tiki before and it, and I know that people know this now, but when you first came on the scene there was this thought that oh look at this guy with the floppy hair and the J crew. Roll next sweater probably grew up with great affluent parents praised dance. Probably a multimillionaire CEO you grow not Hort scrapple necessarily. But I believe your mom was a teacher. Right. Very blue collar. You're scrapper yet. No problem getting into fight your tough kid when you were younger. He's still are. I mean, I thought that your background was grossly miss positioned for a long time. But that bother you. No, it didn't bother me. Because I knew what the truth was. But you never really said it. No because you don't run around telling people you're wrong about me. And here's the truth. I don't know. You say you don't do that. But I saw something funny on Facebook or Twitter the other day, you know, someone said,.

"Adrian Wootton ask you who's going to join me on tomorrow's show here on the Jim Rome show tomorrow afternoon. But right now earlier today, I talked with college basketball icon, Duke legend, Christian Leitner, here's how that conversation. Went Christian scary perish. How you doing? Man. I'm doing great thanks for having me on and you guys can play. The Duke fight song every time. We'll work on that. I promise you, listen. You are one of college basketball's all time. Greats one of the most accomplish if not the most accomplished college basketball player of all time, how closely do you follow college basketball? These days you still into it. Like, you were I don't know thirty years ago. Of course, I'm still into it. Now, I focusing on Duke a little a little bit. Turn it rolls around. And I'm seeing all the teams across the country. But I think I've only missed two games to do games this year. So you saw that team a lot. Are you surprised that the blue devils led by John Williamson did not make the final four? No. I'm not surprised. I'm very sad though that they're not going to be there. But I'm not surprised sometimes you run across teams that play very well and beat you and back you out of the tournament. And the thing that's great about. March madness is just one loss and you're done. So that's what I love about it. And that's what I still love about. I'm glad you put it that way. Because it's one of the points. I've made over the past couple of days since Duke has been eliminated is that listen, all you can do if you're Mike. Ski or any of those players is try to put yourself in the best position possible to to cut the nets after the last game of the season. And by definition Duke did that it was the number one overall seed in this tournament. And then we we start the tournament. And it's a series of forty minute basketball games where three point shooting foul. Trouble it questionable. Call any number of things can determine it and. In reality. All that happened to Duke is that it got to the elite eight in played another great team. A big ten champion a big ten tournament champion a number two seed in the tournament. And then lost the game. By a point. It's it shouldn't be at least in my opinion, a referendum on everything that happened at Duke or coach K's recruiting philosophy. They just lost a game to a great another great team. Sometimes that happens, right? Exactly. And I totally agree with you. You know when Duke loses everyone in the world comes out of the woodworks trying to figure out what happened. And why does it happen? What what is coach Kaye doing wrong and all this other stuff? Well, I'll tell you what happened. They ran across the Michigan state team. Who does exactly what they do? Everyone knows Michigan state is gonna play physical. They know they're going to rebound the ball. Well, and they know they have some upperclassmen leadership some upperclassmen experience on those teams and their coach by time. So when you put all those things together they can beat Duke on any given night. And that's what happened. And having some juniors and seniors on the team, they can big difference. But I've never seen. You know, Diane get bumped as much as he got bumped the other night against Michigan state. But that's the way Michigan state plays. They're very physical. They're very big and strong. And so it's not lake. Michigan state hit hit twenty three's something out of the ordinary. Do they just did what they do talking to do legend Christian late night here on CBS sports radio? You mentioned you went to almost every game this season you've seen almost every game this season. Zion. Williamson is obviously he's been the star of college basketball. Really since opening night. He's going to be barring something silly. The number one pick in the two thousand nineteen NBA draft. Do you have any reason to believe his skill set won't translate? Or are you like everybody else predicting he's going to be a star? No, he's going to be very very good player in the NBA. And I can't watch. I can't wait to see it unfold. And I've been telling everyone for, you know, six months that my only hope is that he stays healthy for the next five years because if he can then we're going to see some unbelievable dunks and some believable blocks and some unbelievable plays on the basketball court from that kid. You people have started to discuss him as one of college basketball's all time greats even though he didn't have an extended career, we're assuming of course, he's going to announce at some point that he's entering the NBA draft. He hasn't done that yet. But literally nobody I think Mike Shuster included thinks he's gonna play another game. In a in a Duke uniform. You are the most accomplished Duke player in history, widely regarded as one of the great college basketball grades. But if you can simply focus on his one year, how impressive was he? He was very impressive. And. No, I don't like the fact that he's impressive as much as I like the fact that he was just under watt. And I think that's why he went over so many fans this years 'cause he's fun to watch. He's he's extremely athletic. He dunks the ball of people like that. But his black stats are incredible. And the joy of the zest with which he plays the game is infectious. And it's so infectious that he even turned. You know, some people that aren't necessarily Duke fan. He turned them into Duke fan. So so that's awesome. Yeah. I mean, it's a great point. Because in you know, it as well as anybody Grayson Allen more recently, people love to not only hate Duke. But then pick out individual players and hate those players because they're at Duke. And yet I found that outside of perhaps North Carolina or Kentucky fans people generally j genuinely wanted to see the blue devils that season they liked watching Zion. Williamson I think that the average fan was not celebrating Duke losing in the elite eight because even if you are conditioned to not want them to succeed you wanted Zion. Williamson to keep playing college basketball as as as long as possible. I really do think he did something that wasn't impossible, but unlikely improbable get people to root for Duke. And enjoy do basketball was an interesting thing to watch wasn't it. You're totally right. And I agree with you. Again. I don't think those people wanted necessarily due to win, but they wanted to continue to watch. So, you know, twenty two for those people, but my son is thirteen years old. And you know, when he was twelve he didn't wanna watch Duke play. But this year with went was out there and you want to play with me. So so I think Zion for making that happen. How about that? I'm talking to Christian Leitner Duke legend here on CBS sports radio. You obviously played in a different time. I don't think in this era. We get four years of Christian late nearing. It makes college basketball, very different. It also makes coaching college basketball, very different. What do you make of the way your coach, Mike? She has been able to adapt from having, you know, guys with extended careers like you and Bobby Hurley to now coaching a basically a brand new freshmen heavy roster. Every season. I think he's done an excellent job with it. Everyone has to evolve with the times and the way basketball changes in the way, life changes. And he's done a very good job changing with the game, the one and done idea with the kids and also the three point shot and the way the games opened up much more now than when I played thirty years ago. So I've been very impressed with how coach K is involved his game. He doesn't yell at the kids as much as he used to. He doesn't jump up and down on the rest as much as they used to. So, you know, part of it comes with maturity part of it comes of getting older part of it comes with the way the game has changed. And he's impressing me the way he continues to evolve with the game. I'm talking to NCAA tournament champion Christian Leitner here on CBS sports radio deal a sense for how much longer he's going to do this. Obviously he is in its seventies. That's an extended age, but he's still operating at the highest level of the sport seems healthier than he's maybe been in recent years seems rejuvenated. I don't know if he's gonna coach two seventy five seventy six, but I could certainly envision it even if it is abnormal. Do you have a sense for how much longer your former coach is going to be coaching college basketball? I mean, he looks to me like he's got at least three to five more years though. He looks good over there on the bench. I know he's got a lot of attention and patching left. Still for the game. He is still loved and revered at university. And he's got people around and like all his past players who love helping coach. So I see him there for at least three to five more years. I could see that as well. I'm wrapping up here with Christian Leitner Duke legend on CBS sports radio before I let you go. I know you are working throughout this final four with land of lakes, and there's an opportunity for young kids to to be able to not only win a ten thousand dollar prize. But also end up shooting around with two college basketball, legends yourself in and David Robinson. I if you can quickly explain exactly what it is. You're doing with land lakes. Well, we're having a big batch contest on Sunday at daily sale high school in Minneapolis and land lakes sense. You know, seven boxes of metal parts to these schools and had them create a about that could shoot hoops. So we're going to have a nice hoop contest nice horse contest. On Sunday and see what these robots can do with these kids in college created all these engineers. Kids creating. I mean, I I can't even imagine it. I've already seen one of the robots. That's terrific. So that's gonna be in Minneapolis this weekend. I imagine you're traveling there soon is that right? Yes. I go up there and Thursday. Awesome. Well, listen, man. I can't thank you enough for being here. And hopefully, I'll bump in Minneapolis. I appreciate your time. All right. Thanks a lot. That is Christian Laettner big thanks to him for joining me. "Two breaking ball strike three. I like that. Seven strikeouts for her mom, he's giving up only one any should be pitching a shutout. John sterling here on the fan. The only run played it against her mom came on. What was officially ruled? Another Gary Sanchez throwing error, though, gleyber Torres probably should've at least knocked that ball down scoreless. Bullpen work from green Britain outta vino and Chapman solo homers from Sanchez and Brett Gardner, Greg bird, singled home, another run all leading up to three one Yankees victory over the Tigers. Aaron judge helped out of the eighth diving catch for two aboard and nobody out killed that rally Aaron Boone holding his breath as judge just voided getting his wrist. Right. Wrist caught underneath it. That's one of those dangerous place for outfielder especially coming straight on like that. It's hard for you for them sometimes to get underneath the ball to make the play and not hurt themselves left wrist. I should check that especially on the day with the Yanks lost Giancarlo Stanton. And do hard to the I L Stanton suffered a grade one left. Biceps strain Sunday shut down for ten days hope to have him back by the end of the month. Don't like it at all. I mean. Just work for six weeks to get here plus off season. If I were you listen to him. He just always sounds miserable. Yeah. I mastering this question. And you guys should know the answer. Of course, it sucks that I strained my bicep what she and Carlos Stanton. Want me to say? What was the question? Do you like the fact that you stranger bicep? I mean, what was the question here? How it was worded. Like, I don't like it at all. Seriously. Well, now, he's on the shelf joining you you're by. So I'm thrilled. Thank you. Well, I don't like it at all Christian Leitner didn't wanna play in New York media, maybe designed Williamson's play here. Now. Dude, don't go there. Hey, John is Christian. Damn forgot what I was gonna say. That's right. Nick stews. Due to the Knicks like do whatever it takes get away from the good away from him, dude. Cheese came from a cow, bro. Yes. All right. Are getting stuff small lay from Tara for and do our and his right shoulder. Also suffered Sunday. They'll wait two weeks to see how he responds. And then at that point. Make a decision which surgery could be in play. Which would obviously compromise his season the wording there could be in play compromises. "There has been a lot of talk about Zion. Really this whole year is he over rated or underrated in your opinion. Can't be underrated. Because no one's been more overrated. Desire number step out here. I'm not the hater who thinks he's going to be a bus and can't play. So that's. Already. I'm not that guy. But please pump the brakes on desire on skip. We talk about this all the time prisoner of the moment. Yes. This is where we all know who become the head. You have skip. I'm surprised that you because it's a lot of moments since talk about top fifty player already hall of fame already in all this is total nonsense especially since he's a man amongst boys. He hasn't even played step foot against a real competition. It will have to play. Also once you get to the league skip where you play who your coach who you teammates, a lot of that stuff factors, Jim whether or not guys succeed or not if you're in the right system, right? Players around you less enough. And I understand why people are going crazy. We've seen college basketball had low Marquis Marco folks was a number one overall pick entity Bennett was the number one overall pick. So we've seen these guys, right? Who ever lived up close to him? He's exciting. He's at let it he does a lot of stuff. So there's a lot of reasons to go Gaga must see TV. So I'm not going there. But I'll remind you Andrew Wiggins was supposed to be the LeBron James of the north from Canada five years in skip. How many all star games is he made as many as I have zero. All right. Here's the other part. Christian Leitner is a top five college basketball player of all time. Yes. Two championships. He also was on the dream team. He has some of the most unbelievable clutch moments in college basketball history, including that shot against Kentucky. Grant hill. Does the best baseball pass? He's at the foul line turns around and shoots jump at a wins. The game to beat Kentucky. Right. He did make an NBA all star team school. And that was my point is as great as he was in college. When he got to the NBA he was an also ran Christian lately, you could argue skip right here right now is more famous forgetting punched in the mouth by Jerry Stackhouse. Then anything he did the NBA. So all I'm saying is he's a great player with a great future. Great potential. But please. Do not crowned him we need to lay Dennis greed. Why you want to crown him crown them? But I'm not crowding I on Williamson not here. Right. And not now not ever not right now. Okay. But what about ever are? You just saying I don't see whatever is not here because we're talking about how good he's going to be. Is he overrated right here right now? He is overrated all of this. Okay. But massive over him just out of okay? If we're doing right here right now is the overrated is a college basketball player. Just just that's what you just said right here on all of them saying rated how he I'm saying. He has he's playing borings. Okay. So look strong say project him out you say, well, I'm talking about right here right now. Which is it. I don't know. I'm projecting. I'm telling you. He's not going to overrated as a prospect in the Asia overrated that people say he's a top fifty NBA player right now. And he's a hall of Famer he's overrated, they're treating him. He's overrated. I agree with you. They're treating him like he's Corinne senior year three straight NCAA titles. Three straight. Most outstanding player. Nobody had he was forced to stay there. The whole way couldn't even plays a fresh. But that's my point this kid's a freshman in creams year. You couldn't even play St. basketball. He was too bunnies. At the basket away from being eliminated in the second round. Don't do don't. What are we going to Nord it that didn't happen skip? He was almost knocked out. Okay. So overrated is the college basketball player. I'm talking about old and. I think you're talking about the hype jazzy he'll he's in play..

"Her who has a ridiculous against the spread documented gambling record in college basketball, each of the last two seasons, he hosts a college basketball podcast. He just got done doing selection show here in Chicago. He's about to host is gambling podcast. And then he's gonna come in. He will be in studio with me one AM eastern midnight central time here in Chicago. And he will stay as long as we want to ask all sorts of questions. He knows the matchups he watches an absurd amount. And he will talk about it from a gambling perspective because let's be honest. Jerry palm, does it from purity basketball fan numbers, analytics perspective, and he was great at it. But a lot of us just want to win that office pool. That Calcutta league the auctions. The player pools against the spreads picking pools bragging rights, the family pool, the office pool the big money pull the small money. We wanna make some money off of these amateur athletes who can't get paid right exploitation. This is American as it gets. You Hershkovich will be in studio in an hour and twenty minutes a guy who's going to make a ton of money playing basketball Zion. Williamson but told you earlier in the show I was at a bachelor party in Tampa over the weekend. And we were the guy who was who's getting married is a Duke alum. Not the biggest Duke basketball fan in the world. But both of his brothers went to do. And so a lot of the friends that were there were we're Duke alum. So there were some big time Duke fans at at this bachelor party. And we were we spent a decent amount of time discussing do. Can we watch the Duke Carolina Gabe, and we watched the ACC tournament at the bars and stuff like that as we were going. And so there's a lot of Zion Williamson talk, and frankly, one of the things that's fairly amazing about Zion. Williamson his legacy at Duke will be freak of nature athlete. Best player in the country blowing out his shoe, and he made Duke likable for a year. What an amazing accomplishment. The school of Christian Leitner and Grayson Allen, JJ Radic and Chris do Han. And shame Batty a. Mike dunleavy. He made that squad likable, your that's. You can't overstate that. In what ends bigger shoe contracts coming then LeBron is a rookie in the other made Duke likable. What's more impressive? Go with the latter than the former pretty ridiculous. But one of our. Call it path bakes conversations that happened over the bachelor party was. Zayn Williamson wanted to play football. There's that story earlier in the year where Dabo Sweeney the head coach at Clemson was on my podcast and said that he would let him play any position that he wanted if you could play football for Clemson. We know that LSU's tight ends coach had recruited him and offered him a full scholarship to LSU, basically, just someting. Jim saw measurable was like I was told to go find the best athletes in the world that we could teach you how to play tight end I found one of the best athletes in the world, obviously, designed Williamson's love was basketball. But we had the conversation of woods Zayn Williamson. If after the NCAA tournament just decided, you know what I wanna play football. I'm gonna go try football. How would the NFL evaluate Zion? Williamson. What would happen? I said, well, I actually have access to some people that know about that I'll start asking people. And so we decided that we the room was split on woods Zion. Williams would be a first round pick in this NFL draft. And I know that he's not eligible for the NFL draft pick for the NBA draft because you got to be out of high school one year in the NBA and three years in football. I I know that but it's a hypothetical random conversation. Just talk about how much of a freak of nature athlete. Are we watching because that's to me? What's the coolest part of Zion? Yeah. The dogs are great the skills. Great potentials, great the shooting deal. Great. The winning is great. But we watch sports to see athleticism at the highest level. And I am a believer that as we continue to evolve develop learn about sports science all of those sorts of things that for the most part throughout sports. We're watching the best to ever do it because they are the best trained. They are the most well conditioned. We know the most about nutrition, and they don't have jobs in the season outside of their sport. And they've got full time physical, therapists, and massage therapist, and mental skills coaches, and the money is great that they don't have to do the other things and they can invest in their body. And so I believe that we are seeing the best athletes in the world in the present day and Zion. Williamson is one of those athletes that when you see him you're like, well, this just feels a little different. Just feels a little different. Like when you saw Mike Vick play football for the first time. What the hell is that? Never seen that before. That was Mike Vick. When I first saw him play football. And I'm sure you all have some out there. Remember the first time you saw shack play basketball. Guys bouncing off of him. What the hell how is what me and him are the same. We're both humans. Okay, fine. I'll take your word for it. Don't exactly relate. But you diesel. We see these guys in sports, right? When you saw Michael Phelps swim. When you saw Tiger Woods golf. No one else ever worked out. They were back is a John Daly to smoking cigarettes. And then Tiger Woods is like or. You could play golf since you were four years old and be in peak physical condition. Hit the ball million miles in the field of all these old dudes who aren't very good, athletes and aren't very good shape. Now, all golfers f physical, therapists and trainers, and they're in great shape, and they hit the ball and insane distance because Tiger Woods. He changed again. Zion. Williamson if you played in the NFL, I asked to people I asked Greg Gabriel who was an NFL scout for three decades and was the former scouting director for the Chicago Bears. And I asked my man, Matt Miller who is the lead NFL draft analyst Bleacher report, he goes by NFL draft scout on Twitter, he talks to GM's coaches scouts incredibly well sourced throughout the league. And I asked them a simple question. If Zion Williamson was eligible for the NFL draft and he entered it this year. Would he be a first round pick? Matt Miller responded, quite simply without a doubt. Without a doubt. Think about that. Doesn't play football nineteen years old. College basketball fee nom. Six seven to eighty. Forty introvert. We don't always forty time. He hasn't been officially measured. Do you put all the grain of salt? But there are videos of him jumping and guys measuring it sports science. They say he set the Duke record for vertical leap estimated to be forty inches. He is. A prototypical defensive end size. About fifteen pounds off from Judah avian clown. He's right in that JJ watt range. He's basically the same measurable is Julius peppers, right? So he is he's a defensive end. And Matt Miller said without a doubt first round pick. Greg. Gabriel was a little bit more offended by the notion. He wanted to make sure I made it clear he's not saying Zion couldn't work, but he would never be a number one. And I'm going to read you what the nine year scouting director of the bears in thirty years. NFL scouting said to me when I asked him the question. Zayn Williamson six seven to eighty five forty inch vertical leap. He's nineteen years old. Answered could he be could he be a first round pick? He said not a chance. I there are no verified measurable 's. Is you really sick seven or more like six five or six to? There's no forty time to the best of my knowledge. He doesn't have a football background. In other words, he's a project very few of these guys are able to step off the basketball court and start to play football and have instant success. Football's an instinct game, and it takes time that he goes into a personal anecdote that I won't like won't share without. His permission says guys like Antonio gates are rare for every basketball player who makes it. There are several who don't even make it to camp after a tryout. This is when he was working with the giants under Parcells he was intrigued by basketball players for about three years in a row. You would bring in basketball players rookie minicamp to see if they had anything one guy made it to camp got cut quickly. Well, we found out was the basketball players weren't the same type of athletes that we thought they were more straight line than most football players. I find that to be really interesting. This idea of the different types of athleticism between basketball and football. And the divergence of opinion one guy super plugged in. Without a doubt. He'd be drafted in the first round another guy super plugged in. Actually did the job said he would it be. I'm curious what you think of that? When you watch Zion. Do you feel like you're seeing a transcendent athlete that could cross sports and do all the sort of things because I do I feel like when I saw LeBron James play in high school at the EA sports round ball classic. That guy is six eight to forty with handle playing like a point guard making no look passes. Data told me about Magic Johnson. And it really remember him. I was born in eighty six. So when the bulls beat them in the ninety one finals five, you know. I read about him, I know him now. But I didn't really remember. Zayed's forty five pounds heavier than LeBron was at that point. I I think he's gonna come in and dominate in the NBA immediately. I think you'll be twenty and ten guys a rookie. I there's no doubt in my mind. The Jain Williamson will be a great pro peace better athlete than all of them. He's a Russell Westbrook. Jaanus level athlete at nineteen. What he's huge. He can jump like Westbrook, but he's five inches taller than four inches taller than the game is becoming more spread out. It's more perimeter based there's three four sometimes five shooters on the court Jaanus is going to break the NBA dunk record this year since they've been keeping it as an official stat. I'm sure we'll Chamberlain would actually have it. If they were counting it back, then but Jaanus is going to break the dunker because he's a freak of nature athletically, and the game is so spread out that no one's garden on the inside. No one can really match up with them. You can do things that no one else can do. That's what that's what Zion is going to be like type plays hard has a great motor can jump out of the gym stronger than everybody wider than everybody. And everyone's playing on the perimeter. So when he has the ability to take it to the rack, go hard. No one's going to be there. But I think we're watching a football player play basketball. But he's got basketball skills even been playing basketball so life, but physically. Oh, Julius peppers has a basketball background and he played football. And Tony gates is a basketball background and he played football Zion. Williamson is a football player in terms of speed size athleticism playing basketball, and he's not playing against Bill lamb, beer, and the bad boys. Pistons and the hand check era. Of the eighties and nineties.

Duke beats UNC in ACC Tournament: Zion Williamson puts his stamp on Tobacco Road rivalry

"Zion. Williamson is a terrific player. He is deservedly ACC player the deservedly in the conversation already been named my sporting news as a national player of the year. But Carolina dukes about more than one guy. And if he has fifty points tonight and Duke wins than this one chapter of Carolina Duke will be about him. But there there's individual chapters of this rivalry better about the individual. Players. And no one guy is bigger than what these two teams have been about for so long. And that goes one about Eric when he was playing and one about Michael Jordan when he was playing and what about Christian Leitner one about Danny ferry whoever you want pick. It's not one guy is what both these teams have been able to do for so long. And I think that's part of what gets under your skin. If you're a tarheel about the coverage of this rivalry when he is placed into the

"I love Jesse bus the the advanced gout assistance. Great excuse me, assistant GM and director of scouting, he's great. And I think Pelinka magic we'll come in. Like, they've drafted wells all is the reason they have Kouzmin. Yeah. He's my heart heart zoo Botts. Do all of a sudden now people including Amazon asset we you. And I also I do like Lonzo and I do like Ingram. So I don't think that makes me crazy. And I think. Mentioned the rest of the league likes to devalue to an extent the Lakers because of this competition told that to me too. Yes. Okay. So I think they did the same thing with Russell while he was here. And now we're seeing wait a second. And probably the same thing with Randall who was pretty good last year. Maybe didn't get quite enough credit for that. So all that's my point has been these guys have all been pretty good, right? But what are their ages? What I agreed. But what I would say is where the Lakers have shown that they've struggled. Some is maybe player development in the sense of some of these guys haven't developed as quickly and they've had to and they ended up developing in other places. I think actually that's something you can look at as a negative for the Lakers and as well as they've drafted. They haven't developed those guys on the time line that they would prefer. Now granted that time line change when Jan LeBron James. And basically is this is what I was telling you from day one, which is all these guys are up for grabs. Now like this is an audition year. We've all. Known that. That's not a surprise to anyone. But those young guys we're going to have to go through a harsh reality. And here we are this is that harsh reality where you probably will have to give up a good chunk of them. If not maybe all of it. And that's where a guy like Anthony Davis in my in my so whether it's whether it's a any any player like any star players gonna come in. I've always agreed with you that you're going like if you can get one to come in for free in the free agency. Great. But then you're still probably going to give up at least some, you know. I don't know if it's one if it's two maybe three okay in in a deal, like even after you've got the second guy. So of course, you can't all you're never going to keep all of them. Right. My point is simply that I don't I'm probably not where you are. And then I would just hey, you know, what you can have any of them want all of them. So that's where we're gonna have all of them. Yeah. I don't care like they can have every single one of them. And I'm good with that is because here's the thing is how do you build the rest of the team? I've seen come on man. You can you build the rest of the team with veteran? Want to come here and win a ring? Like, that's basically what you're doing the last team that had to stars. And no other players that want shack. Wait. So I wait what had one yet? He was a rookie. But that team was filled the rest of that roster. That's that's that's our there. But then got his was the only other homegrown. Got. Everyone else was was a mercenary. Give me some of the names Jason Williams Antoine Walker. James Posey, I was gonna say are you paying in enemy and like were all mercenaries in even the first year? When shack went there, it was all mercenaries Alonzo Mourning came back. Remember he had left to New Jersey. They had who did they have kion dueling Damon Jones Christian Leitner like they were they had like a bunch of mercenaries and more. But that that's the way was more of an exception. Like more often than not the third guy has been a real the Dallas Mavericks. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, like Chandler and kid and Pasia those those are all mercenaries. It was just Dirk Devin Harris. It was Dirk Raya. I mean, come on get out of here. Raya over like. Okay. So LeBron LeBron kyri Kevin love Steph. Kevin durant? Draymond green. Klay Thompson what? But But it's it's sort sort of like. like the bigger pattern. It's not like that..
