"This is their taxes show and you know one of the benefits of doing your show in the TV and studios is when they're doing a TV and special certain people come in and the other day they said Hey how would you like to have a Franklin Graham on your show and how you look of Clifton Davis on your show and I said what yeah let's do it and that's why Christian Davis is here today Clifton welcome back thank you are you you have such an eclectic career we're talking about your life and I just want to I want to talk about your career but also talk about your faith journey because you have done you practically done at all I mean it's kind of amazing how much Broadway you've done how much TV you've done your one of those actors who works right yeah it's kind of a that's the goal you do you've done a lot of work my my theatrical daughter from my last Broadway show jasmine her name is Courtney Reid that's from a Latin from a Latin right she had a name for me Sir books a lot that's funny what is it okay as you are I remember watching you Merv Griffin as a kid and they would always be like the actors the actors would say like Hey you know it's work I just want to be it's I want to work I just wanna make sure that I'm working and I was never think like your TV your big star when you want to be working like you act like you know you're you're living hand to mouth but I realize that in the world of acting it is a big deal how are you working or you have something around and you go from one brief job to another so we we talk about your your entree into show business and Broadway when you're very young but I want to I want I want to figure out your faith journey at the same time so you said your father was a pastor that's right so coming to know the lord was a two phase thing for me right the first phase was as a youth a young man who assimilated into the church and and to believe and into faith but it didn't last it it wasn't planted in good ground right wasn't a see that could really groovy girl it was many many years later after I tried the world I tried show business I tried my own vanity I tried just about everything there was to try including drugs and and wild and crazy lifestyle and it wasn't until I came to a very empty place in my soul that I looked around and rediscovered god and that was Christmas nineteen eighty and it was at that moment that I had of crossroads sort of come to Jesus my experience where I had to either quit the lifestyle I was on in order to live or just pass on into the next world so that's a so you were in show business for what about thirteen years before you hit this spot I guess right so let's go back so you are at your young man you see barber Harrison Allen all the on Broadway changes your life you decide I want to go for it absolutely so you said within six months you were on Broadway hello I mean that's stunning well it was a real a real blessing I I'm going to the right place at the right time and doing auditions I went to audition for a new show that was coming out called hair are you kidding me I auditioned for the first original hair and they said I'm glad you didn't say Calcutta I know how hard it is to the that yeah although in those days I probably would of course but they said you got a really nice voice but do you have any experience at all I said now they said alright we'll goal golf get some experience and then come back you know we'll be doing replacements and what not go get some experience in summer stock in come back and see it so yeah okay thank you then I turned and I turned back to excuse me what summer stock and they looked at me and knew I was green as you know yesterday's apples so they explained to me what summer stock theater was and I went out and bought variety and backstage magazine and show biz magazine who's who publications that were on the street in those days yeah and I looked in the classified ads for summer stock theatre and sure enough that summer there was an opening for an intern that was no pay no fee the no free was very important in other words if you could be accepted you it was free to learn about theater so I submitted that I went to my boss today we see it so let me out of here he said all right I'll give you six months and I went off to do summer stock and they had me clean and bathrooms painting stages and sets hanging lights in and watching theater being produced and little by little I got the idea it was three plays that sum up plus two children's theater productions and I got the lead in one of the children's theater productions Y. played lance a lot the reindeer first role at the very first role I had however was hanky the dry cab driver in funny girl which was playing in summer stock hanky I think khaki is a Jewish name guess what you don't look that Jewish there weren't a lot of Jewish kids as interns that some okay but my line was Mrs Bryce miss Bryce your cab is he your cab is he yeah your cab is he ms Bryce your campus here on the label but that's how I deliver on believe my first acting so this is in the late sixties this is before Barbra Streisand and more it was at Omar Sharif who has knowledge after that all not funny girls Barbra Streisand do what I say the movie Barbra Streisand yeah but this is before the I think not some things before the movie yes I'm saying the the Broadway shows this is this is before oh my gosh so you okay so you do that yeah I mean what do you do you go back to here no I did I did the whole summer did the shows and one of the start to say gypsies one of the dancers are from the summer stock professional company right was talking about going to New York to audition for a new version of hello Dolly that was all black and I was curious and I learned about it he asked about it yeah and this is late this summer and so he was going so I went to New York to see about this audition and I couldn't get in because it was a union only so of course I went back to summer stock in a week later I came to the open call there were five hundred I'm gonna make this quick two of five hundred people out there for this open call they were looking for three more singers I went and waited my turn saying my few bars they liked it asked me to stay then it was down to about fifty and they asked me to sing again I could you hold that note at the end nothing can stop me they said thank you actually shown off fifty years later and still hold that note my and I got into the chorus of hello Dolly who is in the but I don't even know that there was a black version all and don was in that pearl Bailey pearl Bailey and Cab Calloway it was from our world Bailey got a special phony Callaway it was amazing how just the kid in them days I don't remember now look you didn't have done so much did IT did my eyes deceive me that you wrote a song for the Jacksons I wrote a number of songs of the Jackson I mean who can't say in the studio of all this crew we've all written songs for the Jacksons but you were in a seriously like I can't even believe that so you're also song writer yeah how in the world did you come I don't really been around to to write songs for the Jackson five well I started writing songs if I wrote a song in high school it was in my senior class song I co wrote it with a classmate and I I didn't put the two things together right that I could write I didn't pursue it and years later after I was in hello Dolly I was in between shows one Wednesday or Saturday and I went down to the pit to play the piano I thought I was going to get into trouble would judge Wald and the pit piano player offer the orchestra came back and said Hey Clifton what what but he knew my name because I was an understudy he said what are you playing high so I'm just doodling and noodling he said you need to write that note went down that sounds like music yeah that's that's a song so he wrote and had was in the process of writing a new Broadway show called raisin alkaline minds really yeah so he asked me to help him put some soul into his music and this is also one of those hot like Hollywood how you like it it's like we're making it up I bumped into a guy AT today I need to put some soul in my music that became raise and we're gonna be right back folks I'm.

"And so, you know, he leaves this weird note. This reminds me very much of Peter Smith says chief consider this my resignation effective immediately. As you always said, you can't ask others to make a sacrifice if you're not ready to do the same life as duty. God bless America. I'm sorry. That's weird. That's a giant weird story, and you can go back and look at newspapers from this time where they talk about how they wanted to cover the story. But they just felt like they couldn't or they felt like no one wanted to speak out about her. It was so disturbing. They didn't want to go there. It reminds me very much of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. And then of course, you see the scene cast of characters you see Trump's lawyer, Victoria, toasting digital like they were involved in this sex trafficking scandal of nineteen Eighty-nine in the Republican party. So I'm just waiting. I don't like everything falling on my shoulders, especially this kinda shit. Some hoping more people. Explore that. And then you also have with Roger stone his involvement in Eliot Spitzer when Spitzer was caught with a prostitute that appears to have been something that stone helped arrange he bragged about it, you watch the documentary client nine where he's in there. Just kind of like cackling about it and the FBI last week invaded the home that he shares with the Madam that got Spitzer his prostitutes Christian Davis. He was still involved with her, and, you know, the important thing with this case that Spitzer, of course, was investigating white collar crime. You know, he was cracking down on the kind of people that we've seen in this presidential election rising through the Republican party and was an actual obstacle for them. And stone is the guy who gets rid of them, and he can't help bragging about it. You know, he like allowed a whole documentary to be made me Roger stone. We brags about all the shitty stuff, and he's done all these terrible illegal activities because no one ever arrested him. He's never had any consequences. So now. Only finally has consequences. But I'm like way to go way to do. This decades later, then you could have and it's the same as true of corruption all throughout the Republican party in the Trump campaign. We now have six people from the Trump campaign high level people arrested stone manna for Flynn gates Cohen George popadopoulos kind of hanging on the lower levels. And yet we still have Kushner Ivanka sessions who had to recuse himself because of his involvement in elicit activity in the Trump campaign. Everyone seems to just forgotten that he had committed a crime. And that was why he needed to be your cues. They're all just hanging around. Bannon's just hanging around they're doing irreparable damage to this country. And we know the tip of what they've done in terms of treason in terms of sex crimes in terms of every kind of elicit activity, you could imagine. So it's like isn't there some kind of urgency here especi-? With the shutdown into links that they've shown they can go to just get these guys Al on so frustrated. I don't understand why they're so slow, and why has lingered for so long, and why people still continue to view the information with shock like. Wow. I had no idea. They were this crap. It's like holy shit. They told you they made documentaries about themselves when you've had dozens of people indicted, including like well of our dozen Russians or people linked to the Kremlin and six of your direct campaign. Officers arrested. You're an illegitimate president to your point. It's like I love our just pretending carry on business as usual. And then you see people like Chuck Todd industrial complex pushing democratic leaders saying think your language is a little bit strong. Those strong words you use to describe. And it's like dozens of people who helped win this election for this president have been indicted by the FBI. AI it's like stop acting like any of this normal Chuck Todd industrial complex to stop. But of course, they're going to continue because there's money to be made in corporate media for a few people top what's weird in this goes back even to that thing. I brought up before the nineteen eighty nine Craig Spence scandal, and the refusal to cover that is there's money to be made in covering crime in covering treason, and covering all these terrible things that have been done..
