"Know, write the story, but, uh, you know, it can be a great story nonetheless. And so Carson's an extremely bright guy. He's done a lot of work mentally, even when he hasn't been able to work physically. And when you take when you factor in his mental capacity And his ability to focus and to lock in and to be dialed in for since this offseason, that's what gives us the confidence. Sam Donald is a Carolina Panther now, and he opens the season hosting the team that drafted him Number three overall. Back in 2018, the New York Jets Jets linebacker C. J. Mosley is ready to face a player he saw a lot of practice. This is a site just, uh, any time you go against the former quarterback that you play with, you get excited because you actually get the hit hit them now, so that's kind of the big the big picture. But besides that, you know we're going to get some other NFL quarterback. Has been proven to make plays in the area and and running the ball. So, um, you know, after you get past the former teammate party knows there's another point that we got to get ready for the Chargers Go cross country to play the Washington football team, hoping their rebuilt offensive line can protect Justin Herbert against four first round picks. On that Washington defensive line. Texans will host the Jaguars and what's technically a football game? The Browns won their first playoff game in 26 years last year. They open in Kansas City against the reigning NFC champions, Dolphins and Patriots. It's a reunion of sorts. Belichick goes against his old assistant Brian Flores, and both teams are starting young Alabama quarterbacks to attack via Loa in Miami and rookie Mac Jones for the Patriots. Teddy Bridgewater brings the Broncos into New York to play. The Giants say Kwan Barkley should play after tearing his A C L in week two a year ago. See what he's got cooked up Saints technically the home team as they play Green Bay down in Jacksonville, Hurricane Ida knocking out power for much of New Orleans, and that city is still recovering. Jamis Winston takes over for the retired Drew Brees under center. Sunday night Football Rams and Bears at Sofi Stadium in L. A early season. Matthew Stafford in a new offense, but familiar opponent Stafford saw the Bears 20 times in his career, second only to the Vikings. We saw 21 Times, Stafford with 11 and nine against the Chicago Bears as a member of the Detroit Lions, Here's Rams offensive coordinator. Kevin O'Connell, speaking about how the team feels with Stafford under center to begin the season. You know, I I expect him to be that same steady force that has always been as a starting quarterback since day one in this league and He's got a lot of experience to really call upon. But at the same time, you know it's going to be his first opportunity running out as our guy and I think there's not one guy in the locker room that's not excited about seeing him. Do that and lead us. There's a reason why you know he's going to have one of those gold sees on his jersey has a think you've got to be at least a five time captain, and he did that a long time ago. So, uh, all his teammates view him as our leader on the offensive side, among other guys that obviously have those qualities, but There's you know, there's an excitement level about having him, you know, going into that huddle to start the game out on Sunday night. Finally Monday night Football Raiders hosting the Ravens and what's left of the Ravens running back room very thin. After losing J. K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards for the season, Tyson Williams and newly signed Latavius Murray should get a bulk of the carries this week. Here's Ravens coach John Harbaugh. It's just tough for the guys. I mean, that's who you're that's who you heard for. We've got we've got a really good team. A lot of great players. We brought some really good players in. You can see that we can move forward. The train's moving fast, you know, and and we're excited to go play Monday night. The game's going to the game is going to go off at five o'clock Pacific time. We're going to be there right on time. We won't be late. And we're old team will be there ready to go. And we've been preparing for this for a long time as a team. The thing we're disappointed. Is it going to be a couple guys that won't be on the on the train, you know, and That's that's what hurts for those guys, you know? But the team itself were we feel for those guys and our hearts go out for those guys and we're back in the fight. That's what we're doing today. Injury report. We can touch on it. Players who have been ruled out Lions without left tackle Taylor Decker with a hand finger injury may or may not require surgery. Something to monitor the Colts are missing their left tackle today. Former number one pick out of CMU Eric Fisher, still recovering from a torn Achilles back in January, the Vikings will be without Anthony Barr and rookie tackle Christian Dara saw And wide receiver trick. Juan Smith is dealing with a hamstring injury. It's been dealing with it since early August. He's out today for the Saints against the Packers Coming up next Dan Miller's back with Lions head coach Dan Campbell..

"To head I'm taking Carolina minus four. Alright, Broncos giants. I know you love going against the grain. I know you love a home dog. But I also know that you are a Broncos honk. What's the number? How are you playing that game? Well, how bad are the Giants right now? Jim there an underdog against Denver, a team that wasn't a favorite one game, all of 2020. And, yes, I'm taking Denver They are minus three at New York. That's the spread as long as Teddy two gloves, play smart and gets the ball to his weapons. I like Denver. Here look from 2 to 53. Denver can play with almost anyone in the NFL, and it's all about the QB play. The thought is Teddy's doesn't give the ball to the other team like Drew locked it last year, and the Broncos defense should be very, very good. As long as Bridgewater doesn't do that. The Giants Interior Line is a problem in the Broncos with a healthy Mike Purcell should be back to being a very, very good run defense something I'm sure the Giants will try and challenge them there. But it's a better decision than thrown against the Broncos because they have the best secondary in football. Probably And they have von Miller, Bradley Chubb and up and coming star Draymond Jones to get Danny Dimes. I'm going with Mama Hamler a k a. M. C. Kitty and that human joysticks son of hers. KJ Hamler and the Broncos minus three. Hell yes, I love that. I love that pick. I mean, like, I'm trying to go against you because what's the point? If you and I pick all the same games the same way every single week. So I would love to make an argument for the Giants here, But I can't because Bridgewater does have lots of young weapons. You can get the ball to I agree with you. I think that Bronco defense as good as it was. I think it's improved. I love the secondary. I love the return of Von Miller and then no, I'm still not sold on Danny Dimes. He took a step back last season. Not a step forward. I'm with you. I'm going to take the Broncos and lay the points on the road really quickly. When was the last time that you saw so many home dogs that were favored? It's been a while in and the funny thing. Obviously, I always anyway listens, knows that I usually go with a lot of favorites, right but weak one. Historically for the NFL, a lot of the favorites do cover and I actually like 11 of the 16 total here this weekend. So, um, moving forward. It will be different, but weak one. We're okay with a lot of these things. But the one nervous and one nerve wracking thing, though, is there's a lot of money on the picks that were at they like what we're doing here, and we don't like that. Generally, we want to go the other way. I never do. Usually. No, I know this. All right. So Vikings at Bangles pretty interesting game and a similar deal. You've got a road favorite. With the Vikes rolling into since he But then again for good reason, right, Joe Burrow is back. But is he gonna be the same guy who was tearing it up before going down with a season ending injury last year too soon to say, But I'm going to assume that the Bengals have most if not all the same problems this year that they had last year. So who you got in this game and what's the number? The number is since the minus three. I'm going, of course, with the road favorite Minnesota here. Mike Zimmer is like clockwork. One good season file, followed by a bad one. Every year. He's coached the Vikings since 2014 and the good news for Minnesota fan is time for a good year. After finishing last year, 79 and losing their last seven games overall against the spread. Look, Minnesota's defense was asked last year Jim the worst Zimmer's career, but the good news is they now got bodies. Hunter peers, Kendricks Tomlinson. They brought back Griffin. That deal should be in mother to run on this year. The question is, can that secondary slow down teams and slow down the Bengals on Sunday? That's the big question, But that matchup isn't as lopsided as what the Vikings got against the Bengals secondary. Since he couldn't cover last year. They lost William Jackson, the third, their best cornerback, and Trae Waynes probably won't go either. This week. One concerning thing. I'm seeing some injury news coming down is the Vikings won't have Anthony Bar or Christian Dara Shaw, their left tackle the first round pick. That's concerning, but the Vikings are four and won in their last five week. One games. Let's go Minnesota minus three on the road. All right, so the Bengals to me could not protect the quarterback last year. Nor could they get two opposing quarterbacks the last year that in and of itself is a really bad combo. It doesn't look that different to me this year. Her cousins should feast on that secondary. As you point out, he's got weapons to work with. He's going to have some time to throw. And you know, Cincinnati will have no answer for our guide Dalvin Cook. I'd love to go against the grain, but I can't do it. Another home dog that I'm just going to have to ignore. And I usually like that pick running back for me. Who do you have this week? Head?.

Mike Purcell Bradley Chubb Christian Dara Shaw von Miller KJ Hamler Dalvin Cook Mike Zimmer Anthony Bar Joe Burrow Danny Dimes Draymond Jones William Jackson Giants Drew Bridgewater Bengals Teddy Sunday Bronco Broncos

"When we have the league's most uncertain position which this was. Andrew lock was dealing with all of his various health concerned. Like that doesn't make sense. They were opportunistic when the app other needed to be in the case of wince or had a rare opportunity to acquire deforest buckner. Who as you said. i mean he was legitimate. It was on the shortlist. Maybe the top ten defensive players in all of football last year so it's a calculated. I applaud the goal. Turn office no surprise. That chris ballard was recently extended through two thousand twenty six. It might be as sort of like logical. Let's make good football business decisions frequently as any front office in the entire league. I on the other side of the ball to again. Their first two draft picks this year. Our guys who maybe won't will we certainly know in the case of Bingo o'day qingbo. Day yeah. I practiced it to anyways. He ain't gonna play at the beginning when he's gonna. He's coming off an achilles injury next year during training too so it was like it was january when he yeah defensive lineman by the words and quickly pay is like that makes sense someone in the short term. 'cause they need to pass rusher but also like you know. He was drafted for his potential more than production. And it really. They could've spent either of those picks on a wide receiver or they could have taken the quarterback there but they are really. It's all about the long-term vision. Doesn't i'm not saying it's the right approach. Necessarily you know they could've taken christian dara's off for example if you looks awesome. Colts fans won't be thrilled. You know as they wait for eric fisher but the it's a distinct i keep saying it's like a distinct vision but it's it is it's a vision. It's an approach This defense stat was eighth against past nine th against the run last year. We know what this defense is. Undermined uber flus. Stay plot zone. Play cover to they. Don't blitz a lot to keep everything in front of them and it's been successful doing that I i think the concern. I would have is that you know you got a great year out of buckner if you're if you get a little bit less of that pass rushing production and you aren't able if pay is able to contribute or replace sacked production of like niko tree and justin houston out the gate. I'd be a little bit worried. About where the pressure is gonna come from upfront. They need a pass catcher. Step up and a pass. Rusher step up for this entire operation to be worthwhile. And whether that's michael tickner pairs whoever and on defense most likely pay a pedigree and skill set one on either side of the balls. Gotta make a difference. I think this team. To and mrs conversation of to like making the playoffs is cool. It's good right. But that's not what this roster was contracted for it was to go to the play offs and do damage against the very best. The afc offer specifically likes of kansas city and in buffalo in baltimore in cleveland. Whoever you wanna put amac top tier of afc teams like said making the playoffs as cool. You know what else is. Cool super bowl in the sean taylor social voice. I think that they deserve a ton of credit for what they've gotten also out of their. Db's a group that they have not invested a ton of money into but again like i. Oh they've really hit on some draft picks here but also to take a guy like xavier rhodes who they're able to bring back on one year deal. You'll have in whether when you're dealing. Yeah and really like resuscitate his career. Frankly in this scheme is impressive. So you've got julian blackman who i think. I saw somewhere as like a top ten safety. Now's link this little strong but really yeah. Maybe a year from now like really impressed as they sort of coker replacement and san carlos next to him. And then kenny more. Who's like probably one of the five best slot corners in football at this point. Rocky's in opposite him you know is not been is. He is not truly lived status. Yeah but outside of that. I mean you know. I mentioned earlier like were. They ranked overall defense field. I was just curious to see how they did on third down. This is a group that allowed the third lowest passer rating on third down seventh and epa per play notably. By the way they played the most zone of any defense in the nfl. Probably on surprising to you. The only played man forty one percent of the time on third down. You know when you're gonna see defensive play more often but when they did they allowed a qbr of two. Wow which is of course the best you possible. Yes wild again people. I say they don't play a lot. Yeah they did forty one percent of the time and that's good. That is amazing to see a good number to keep your bones new. Yeah that's pretty good. Can i get my i empty. My last my one rock s in thought. Yes please is that. I hope it becomes a really good quarterback for them. The first two years have been been on even if like. He's just one of those guys who it just does not look like it can be a consistent starter for you at cornerback. I would love to see him. Dedicate his career to being legitimately the best coverage player on special teams in the nfl. Because he is such a freak athletically he so strong draft guru he was. He was a wrestler before he was a football player. He could go out there and absolutely destroyed on special teams consistently and be like the next great special teamer. I'm sure he has any deservedly. So as much grander visions but if five years from now rocky's in is the afc special teams player in the pro bowl. I don't know what i'll do. But i'll probably i probably won't celebrate because i want him to be better than that as a cornerback but i will remember this podcast moment. Clip it clip it now. You're what's what's the goal predicted. I like it i like. That is the most pot like niche prediction. Football prediction possible to. We're home. I should also mention dairies. Leonard to big deal to no one's surprise. But i would say one position group to keep your eye on his departure of anthony walker and i could see that being an issue. I know that they keep saying they. Like which i feel like applies to this team. More than any other team in football. They're optimistic about bobby. I think i got that one right. But he's been up and down for me so you know we'll see i'd say that could that's anthony walker is like one of those players. You don't hear a lot about until he's gone and then suddenly like oh you know. They got a couple other names. There could step up. They feel like desire franklin. Who's just i mean. Maybe he will be the cold special teamer that makes the afc pro bowl soon enough outstanding special teamer. He also ej speed which is a great name for a defense glare. Like those are a couple of names that i think of a chance to be bigger ed's contributors this year at linebacker with anthony walker now playing for the browns. All right well. Speed is not something. I have demonstrated in talking about the first two teams. So let's take a quick break and then get back and talk about the titans commercial support for this. Podcast is provided by better help.

Andrew lock deforest buckner chris ballard football eric fisher afc niko tree justin houston michael tickner xavier rhodes julian blackman dara buckner sean taylor Colts anthony walker coker mrs san carlos

"Again later. Everyone's you know, upset, Rightly so, You learn the rules. I need a palate cleanser, please. But last Thursday night was without a doubt. The most exciting moment in Chicago sports since November, 2nd 2016 when the Chicago Cubs won the world serious in Game seven. Then, And that is what that is The drafting of Justin feel? Yes, Justin fields. I mean, this city was on fire. Thursday night, Friday and today. I got friends and I do. We got Justin Fields parties in the street for sure. And on the same night We learn with a Schefter bomb that Aaron Rodgers goes f you Green Bay. I'm not coming back. And since then we're learning today. The Packers are looking at other quarterbacks. And management has said, and we have Jason will the I said they're not trade them. Don't want to play Go host jeopardy. We'll move on. We'll be fine. And this city is alive. Excited, Danny's Letterman said this this morning could bears actually be the best team in the division. If Rogers has gone to great down there, it's a great question. And that leads us to our guy Dan Wieder on the Bears and the airline Rogers drama. He joins us now. Damn! Good morning. How are you, buddy? I'm doing good before we get into all the bears talk. I'm looking to play golf, maybe on Monday in early June and was wondering if you knew if there was anyone I could ask about potentially playing golf, Maybe in a grip it and zip it classic. What I would do if I were you is I would reach out to Mike Thomas, and then just let him handle it. Okay. Just just him. Just pinpoint responsibility with Mike. Ask him and then then don't go try to ask other people, right? Don't end around with other people. Yeah, e think That's good advice And again that golf outing that you wanna do, They'll be in 2022. Okay? No problem. No problem. I can't take no for an answer. I appreciate that. I'll just I'll stick in my lane. Ask one person and then move on. If I didn't know Fernando well said, Well, Dan, that's all the time we have for you today. Don't cut him off. Uh, all right. So your job is to cover the Chicago bear. You do other things, But the Bears is your That's your Bailey Wick. That's your deal. Last Thursday. As you sat down, opened up your laptop. Got yourself ready to work. Was any part of you expecting what happened that they were going to end up with Justin Fields, Or did you figure it's Greg Newsome? Er, it's Kevin Coleman or Christian Dara saw and it is what it is. Even Kevin Jacobs. If you wanted me to check its who's seven fold. I thought that it was going to be a fascinating night because you didn't know what was going to happen at three and after three, right and it was all going to start with who the 40 Niners picked And then what was gonna happen in that sweet spot of 789, where he had the Lions, The Panthers and the Broncos all kind of in need of quarterback, but not really a need a quarterback and when the board started unfolding The way it did. I mean, you can follow it on Twitter, where myself and others are saying, Okay, he's still available. Now is the time to start really lighten up the phone lines of those teams ahead of you. And to Ryan's credit to his staff's credit in that draft him they were calling off that floor trying to find someone. That would accept the deal and look, they don't have to apologize for the way the chessboard unfolded for them. They got their opening. They pounced on it. They got a quarterback of the future who has legitimate star potential, and they walk away from a three month stretch that was Full of despondency and agitation in the outside world, and all of sudden they've recaptured the imagination of the city. And sometimes those gifts just fall into your lap. So I'm wondering Dan now that the draft is over. If it was Ryan pace solely making the final choice. Do you think he would have taken Mack Jones instead of Justin Fields? Because Justin Fields feels a lot more like what mad Maggie would look at because of his dealings with Patrick the homes, So if it was just If it was just the general manager pace with full autonomy. What you have taken Jones and that's about it. I don't think so. No, I think I think they see how dynamic Justin Field is in the number of different ways he could be the defense. Listen. Ryan was part of a process this winter, where they were interviewing. Defensive coordinator opening right. And when you're talking to opposing defensive coordinators of people who are coming in your building to interview for that job you're asking. Hey, what are things offensively that really caused you? Problems that give you headaches. And you hear man, these these quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL that can that can beach in multiple ways that can reach with your arm beach with their legs Beach from the Pocket beach outside the pocket. Those are the guys that really, really make you stay up at night. Justin Fields checked every one of those boxes. And so I think the Bears were just Absolutely just thrilled and captivated to see the draft board unfold the way it did, and to wind up with fields now and a chance to develop them. Listen like that's the next step of this process, they have to make sure If they take this winning lottery ticket and actually get it to the place where you can catch it right. And so that's the next step here is putting together a developmental plan that brings out the best in Justin Fields early. Brings out the best in Justin feels often and does so for a long, long time. Okay, so we spoke on the phone The other day, I put out a poll question. Is this the most exciting moment in Chicago sports since the Cubs won the world Syriza's And 62% off because it's because your choices in your poll were like, so limited and ridiculous. And please enlighten me. Then what are the choices that should have been on there? That would have supplanted Justin Fields getting 62% of the vote? Okay, So rather than saying there's make 2018 playoff but lose, you could say there's when 12 games a division and make it to the playoffs, right? That 2018 18 season was incredibly exciting. It was so exciting that there was a convention in Rosemont the following summer, where there was so much buzz from the 2018 bear season that people were lined up from Rosemont down the Oak Park down River Road right, like just straight down the road waiting to get in there because they were so excited about what happened in 2018 and what they anticipated happening in 2019..

"Guest. He is a draft analyst for Pro football network. He's also the host of believe, and draft analysts on the believe podcast network. You've heard him before you follow his work. Cause he's terrific at it. He's Toni, Pauline. And he joins me now, Tony. Great to have you aboard. Thanks for having me back. All right. So let me ask Is there a football reason not involving Aaron Rodgers on why the Broncos did not draft Justin Fields. None that I could think of. I mean, obviously, you know, they thought that the corner was the better back. But, you know, I think I had Justin Fields going to them. My first round mark. I thought I knew they like Mac Jones. So I guess that they think that there's a realistic opportunity that they can. They can come away with Aaron Rodgers. I can't think of one was in the war, their war room, so I don't know that they had those guys so much higher rate than in the quarterback doesn't didn't make a lot of sense to me other than the fact that All the rumors we heard, and even the insiders we had in Denver felt like there was an ongoing dialogue between them between the Broncos and the Packers for Aaron Rodgers. Did you have you heard anything about the epilepsy and the medication that Justin Fields took not necessarily through the lens of how would it react at altitude, But His Slide kind of slide, I guess, um, didn't have anything to do with a medical issue. Do you think nothing at all about that? Okay, You know, the fact is Chicago Bears gave up a lot of draft capital to move up to get him. So you know, I had nine He went what? 10. You know, I think it would only be considered a slide for Justin Fields. It was after Pick 12. Okay. Fair enough. Toni Pauline, my guest pro football network believe in draft analyst Podcast my guest. So as you look at the Denver Broncos draft in its totality. Um, how did you feel about it? I thought it's pretty strong. I mean, really, from the first pick through the through the late rounds. I mean, they filled some needs. They got some depth. They prepared for the future, and I think really all along. Well, if they didn't take best player available, they got good value. I mean, you want the Williams was an excellent pick. Quinn Minors. I love that selection back. Browning was an excellent pick. You know, day to do more. Johnson had some off the field issues. Didn't work all out all that well, but he was a terrific pick Seth Williams of bigger receiver. Another terrific selection of Carrie Vincent was absolute steal in the seventh round. Um, how? Where did you have Gravante Williams on your draft board, as opposed to Travis at Tien and nausea Harris, basically where he went Number three. Adam is a top 15 picking around too. S o. I did not have him ahead of those guys. I had him in my number three back. That's exactly where he ended up. And what do you like of what do you like about him? And do you think that he profiles as a feature back for the Broncos? Or is he better fit? Kind of compliment? Melvin Gordon. Well, I don't think you take him is early because you did, uh, Because he's going to be a compliment. I think you may be preparing for the future because he can be a feature runner. I mean, he's a hammer. He's a guy who will grind it on the inside. Dishes out a lot of punishment. Two defenders. He's strong. He runs over opponents. But he's also got good short area quickness and it could make defenders Mr Bounce around piles. Um it grab your drafting on that high for him to be your eventual starter. Where do you think Barrett Browning? Profile's better as a outside linebacker, rushing the quarterback or playing inside in coverage. The position where he doesn't have to think of Rita react too much because he's great as well. He's a really good athlete. He's a forceful player up the field. Things get a little bit hazy, and he's a little bit slow to react. I would like him outside better and some death as a pass rusher. If they move him inside, where he's got to do a lot of reading and reacting You know, I hope it works out. But I have my concerns about that. Toni Pauline, my guest Pro football network. And as we look at the draft overall, you know, obviously we're not going to know for 234 years how this draft turned out, but in terms of the decisions that were made by some of the front office is Which front office do you think had the best set of decisions over the weekend? Absolutely loved with the Carolina Panthers did. Getting a big corner early in round one coming back within Ellis, you receiver top around to a developmental tackle, and Brady Christiansen in the third round. Potential number one tight end and Tommy tremble and that even later on the draft Abby on Nixon, a big defensive tackle in the fifth round, one of my favorite picks, shy Smith. And while six a guy that can let up in the slot, a guy that can do some punk returning for you, and then you have to factor in that they hope they got their quarterback of the future, and Sam Donald With that tray just just a couple of weeks before the draft, So I think overall, I love with Carolina Did. I think Minnesota got great value throughout the draft. They got the player they wanted. Christian Dara saw Moving down and then they got good players throughout guys that can start right away. And guys that have excellent potential is developmental prospect. Davis Mills. What were your thoughts on him coming into the draft? Was a guy that was getting a lot of buzz. He was a guy that I heard could go late first round. When I watched the month film, David Mills had all the physical skills to play the next level. It's got all the The arm strength, the size the stoutest the mobility to be a star in the NFL promise he hasn't been body of work. As I said, my scouting report on him at Pro football network. He's a little slow pulling the trigger time. It seems like he's a little bit hesitant. I think he fell because of that. He did not have a real great 20,020 season coming into the year before the Pac 12 delayed their season. I talked to scouts on the West Coast and they told me that David Mills had this season they thought he was capable of Would be a top 15 selection. That didn't happen..

"Me. We she wouldn't but she won't let us forget about her. Three days. 11 picks out of the Star Tribune Meet the players drafted by the Vikings will start off with the first round pick Vikings. It wasn't a surprise to you to see the Vikings make that move. Drop back into the first round a little bit accumulate. Cem Cem later round picks and still, according to Spielman, and the Vikings officials still get their guy this Christian Darussalam offensive tackle out of Virginia Tech. Yeah, I I would say it's surprising to me that they moved back nine Step nine spots and still got him for me. And this is all guys on paper people watching you two videos. I don't watch all 22 film for hours and hours on end, but There's a guy available by the name of Elijah Vera Tucker, and he was an offensive lineman out of USC, and he was available right there at 14. That is who the Jets ultimately took when they did the trade with the Vikings, and I loved that player on when they trade back. For me because I'm 36 year old man, child that works on a sports station. So I get too emotional about it. I was pissed off and I'm looking at Indianapolis there. I think it picked 21. I saw a couple of teams in the mix. Okay. Christian Dara saw After very Tucker for me was the right choice and s O by the indeed uses holding your breath and cross your fingers that nobody says the name Dara saw between put picks 14 and 23. I honestly didn't think he was going to be there. Anthony Castonzo, former first round pick of the Indianapolis Colts, long, illustrious, productive career and Indy He retired. And so now you bring Carson Wentz over there, which they did in the off season. And I'm thinking they want to do something with that Left tackle spot. I'm thinking Marisol is gone. They take quickly pay the pass rusher. Out of Michigan. And we've heard from both general manager Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer that once that Domino fell, they officially were able to have a sigh of relief. So to speak, and know that a 20 A 23, where they moved back that they were going to be able to get their guy, so they got him and then the equity they got. They got the two third round picks and that kind of created that waiting game on Friday to see what they were going to do with that is their song. It's two starter. Yeah, He's so absolutely is going to start on day one. That should be the expectation and anything less I think is, um, I don't want to be, you know at hyperbole, but it's football. It's mildly disastrous. There'sa Bring us of Super Bowl. That's the real question. We go win a Super Bowl. Now it's the ultimate team Questioned, Arris saw an offensive tackle. He's gonna be. He's gonna be fantastic. Yes, a little bit of grit, their eyes replacing Riley, refi and kind of look at it like this in a way, where When you take that tackle, Um you kind of get yourself back to where you were in 2020, where you're replacing Riley Reef, And I think the what's next part of that, with this historically, least over the last decade awful interior. Of offensive line. Ever since Steve Hutchinson essentially left we've had issue producing on the inside with strong, beefy, nasty guards, and so what they were able to do on Friday as you look down the list of their picks. That kind of that That I think has to be married to the dairy sauce election say That's where that's where this all seemed to work. I watch some film on the on Wyatt Davis, who was one of their one of their fourth round picks. Third round picks. Third round pick third round pick 86 Watch some film on him after that announcement, and that I I liked what I saw at a wide Davis. I know it was kind of late pick. I know there's some size issues there. With him that people are kind of concerned about his frame. And then you might be a little bit. Yeah, yeah, anything but but he's still gonna be in that 3 20 range He's I mean, he's bigger than as Rick Cleveland is who we went to work with every week last year. And it will be, uh, either left or right guard. I don't know how that'll shape out. Yeah, the thing for me with white Davis. This is where things got weird. And and why? I like to say that Rick Spielman ultimately found the right answers and found his way to the guys that that he wanted and guys that least the ones I'm familiar with. I really liked You got it was fortunate. I don't. I don't want to use the term lucky per se, but in some ways if they had traded up into the second round and took Wyatt Davis at 56 instead of 86 you read the scouting reports. And this isn't me. This isn't even Rick, who's always going to be pumped up about who he selects. People throughout the leader like Holy BLEEP, This is amazing value at pick 86 that you got for this card and again marrying him with Darius saw and the idea that when you traded back, you're a topic goal was to get back into the second round on Friday. You're unable to do that, but still end up with this quality player at 86. From an offensive line standpoint, I don't think we can ask Rick to do more than he has done over the last 34 years in terms of Trying to turn around and awful position group and it's something that could become a strength. So very positive news with those two guys stepping back a little bit and painting with a broad brush because I don't know how to do anything other than that when we're talking Vikings, um, looking at the issues that the Vikings were faced last year, when you look at the overall group of players that they were able to get Do you think that those issues air being addressed? Are you seeing picks that perhaps are looking at places that maybe you You weren't expecting well, so I think that I think that they checked all the boxes in terms of addressing the positions all ultimately until these guys get on the field. That's where the true grading starts is. Did this workout Dara saw us. He has to be a day one starter. Otherwise, that's a terrible pick. Why Davis has to be a day one starter. Otherwise, it's a terrible pick. So, looking at really two things with this team into the draft offensive line hideous needs to improve defensive line. We have Daniel Hunter you get Dalvin Tomlinson via free agency, Michael Pierce was a 2020 Opt out just is gonna be a difference. Make this bowling ball of a human from the Ravens. He's easy, a major difference maker. So if you look at all the issues, it's very easy to say We didn't have a pass rush, which we didn't Rookie corners were bad at times, which they were but one issue that this defense constantly had a year ago that compounded all that exacerbated. All of it was the past the run defense. And you put two bowling balls in the middle with Tomlinson and Pierce. The last thing you got to do is improve on. I think it's the lowest number of sacks might be the worst defense simmers had in his career. It was 21 or 23. Sacks is a team that's that they had 50 the year before. So just picture just cutting the statistical production in half. The rotation at defensive end right now, whether it's Stephen Weatherly, and then you're gonna have DJ want him who kind of flash a little bit of this at different times last year, so he's in his second year. Then you take Patrick Jones late third round. Hey, had 17 sacks last two years of pit and then and then Jin areas. Robinson, who's kind of like this raw, just he's cut out a stone long arms. I mean, he could reach out and touch it from seven ft. Away. He's Amazing athletic specimen, but he wasn't productive. He's not technically sound, and so they taught themselves. Mr Andre Patterson is a guy that could develop a guy like to Neil Hunter Guy like, ever seen Griffin 1/4 round around a USC now 11 years ago. Now it's just time to do some work with with Patrick Jones and Engineering is Robinson so addressing those positions On addressing the A topic needs for the team on paper. It looks like they did that real quick..

Steve Hutchinson Michael Pierce Elijah Vera Tucker Anthony Castonzo Mike Zimmer Dalvin Tomlinson Pierce Patrick Jones Daniel Hunter Stephen Weatherly Carson Wentz Rick Cleveland Tomlinson Christian Dara Rick Spielman Rick 2020 Dara Vikings Super Bowl

"The bear selection. How exciting is this? Oh, my God. 11 picks in the 21 NFL draft The my Chicago Bears select. Justin feels quarterback Ohio State when he went to meet My like If that it said, Christian Dara saw offensive, no disrespect to him. No, he would have gone to Chicago Bears select Christian death. What? He saw that card. What My Pride, he thaws impressed. All right, Sonny, is this Oh, my God. What a mercy! My Chicago pair. That was a great that That's why you when he saw that he was like I didn't say Mac Jones. Oh, God way, G o Carlos! Hey, that did the same response later. Come on, Carlos, My Chicago bear. Oh, my God. This ain't normal. We'll do this long. Have mercy. Let's go back to the phones. Jerry's out on I 80 Hey, Jerry. What's up, man? I understand that it was a very good draft. What do we really want? Ryan Pace back next year, Ryan Pace is not going anywhere. He's he's a guarantee you guarantee you He is not going anywhere, no matter what happens next year. So what do you good draft is full Tenure. One good draft. Well, I will tell you what I would ask. Jerry is like, so what's the alternative? Should we not watch the bears? Because space is there we will you and I both know we all know that pace was gonna be part of this team. This upcoming season. So what do you suppose? Do we can't fight City Hall. We just got room for the for the players on the team. Do we not? But what about Adam's Sheehy? Mitchell trip? Boesky? All these guys that were absolutely cracked? Yep. And we would get about know we've we've addressed that, haven't we? Have we have we not talked about those bad draft picks? Have we not said before this draft that pace and nag you both should be out that it should be a fresh set of eyes. But they're not. They're still here shall not watch the bears because pace is still in place. What do I do is embarrass fan in that spot. We watch the team and everything, but that's it, it feels isn't in right away. Weeks did Bonnie with regard to Getty. Dalton. What? It's a big race. It's not a big waste. It is not. They had to get a veteran quarterback, and it was never going to be Mitchell Travis Key. Matt was done. He was done with him. God bless him. Good luck in Buffalo. I like to kid. It didn't work out. But if you tell me that you're gonna root against the Bears because you don't want Ryan pace here that I'm going to tell you, that's ridiculous. That's one. I didn't say that. I didn't say that. I just said, Are we going to keep him out pace for next year? Yeah, he's not going anywhere. He's not going anywhere. It doesn't matter what their record is next year. He's not going in blind squirrel consigned the knot in the woods. Well, hold on a second. Let's just be honest here. Real quant Smith was a damn good draft pick. You can get in. You can name Ah lot of guys. I'm not telling you. He didn't bust on Kevin White Mitchell, Travis Key and Leonard Floyd. Yes, high profile. He missed on him. No doubt about it. He's also made some damn good pics to But Nick Foles way think we spend all that money on Nick Foles, and he's gonna be our third string quarterback. That's outstanding. Good job, Ryan Pace. Right again. Let's turn the page. Nick Foles is the third quarterback here, they rolled the dice in a pandemic. That's whom that wanted. It didn't work. Let's get behind Justin Fields and Tablet Jenkins and let's see where this team could go. That's how I look at it. Jerry, I understand your point cap understands your point. We know the history of Ryan Pace. What did we say after the last playoff game for the Bears against the Saints? We wanted change. Correct. I mean, and what is Sylvie say it starts at the top. There's no doubt we don't forget those things. However, there's there's two things working at the same time. One. The Bears know that their back is against the wall. You had to be able to get the quarterback's position, right? You need to address the offensive line. You need to be able to get out of the park as much as possible with the draft. You need to do that. But it doesn't take away. Yes, we know that the Mistakes have been made in the past. But is that not to do about it? Now? He's gonna be in place. As a matter of fact, Cap who's is tapped in his anybody can't even tell me how many years really that pace has left. Might be, too might be three. We don't know, but I know that he's made it had had problems in this in this job is a general manager, but it doesn't take away what he did for the draft so far on Thursday night, he had a home run. Sure, no question. We'll see what happens. 31233237761 NFL analyst thinks the bear starting quarterback job is Justin Fields to lose. That's next. Plus all your cause. What grade you would give the Bears draft. We got a couple lines open, so jumping, we're going right to the phones +3123323776 Cap Jay Hood. Take that thing. Eyes..

"Linebacker West Virginia goes to the Cleveland Browns. If your name is Michael Carter, and you're in this draft, you're going to the New York Jets. They already got the running back in North Carolina. The Jets had picked 1 54 took Michael Carter that events of back at Duke San Francisco in 1 55 select Jalen Moore Jaylon more offensive tackle from Western Michigan. Pittsburgh and 1 56 goes defensively. Isaiah Loudermilk defensive end from Wisconsin, The Minnesota Vikings take a mere Smith Mar. Set wide receiver from Iowa at number 1, 57 Carolina on the clock from Houston. The Panthers have just selected day beyond Nixon, defensive tackle from Iowa. Jason fits Have a winter. Thank you so much. This is the 2021 NFL draft on ESPN Radio Mike Tannenbaum in Fitzsimmons. Jim Naggy. I'm Jason fits by the way should be noted as Kevin alluded to Michael Carter, the second state selected, which is only convenient for the Jets, because now that they've taken Michael Carter, Michael Carter the second they at least have a differentiator on the back of their jerseys, although I don't know if I'm Michael Carter the second how I Feel about it. Christine Jared Harris, obviously one of the one of the picks yesterday that a lot of us looked at and said, Holy cow that to go going for them. Vikings. He joins us now on the Goodyear Hotline Hotline. 2021 NFL draft aerial coverage of Cleveland provided by Goodyear. The start of a new drive Goodyear more driven Christian. Thank you so much for the time, man. Congratulations. Let's start with the obvious here. Where were you? What was the moment like when you actually hear that you are picked and you are going to be in the NFL. Man. Um so I was sitting Merlyn back at home. My family and friends and and like to see in that home, Ray, you see Minnesota on top and just know, like And it's like really happened like a Jean come to like all the emotions started to come out at one time and everything like that, and it was just it was like just so emotional feeling. It was just talking to the GM and being wanted by the Vikings. Um That was crazy. By the way, I have some nights. I don't remember in Ocean City, Maryland. Go ahead. My guess way also, you know, see what is it? I'm telling you, Christian, This is my cab. That was Jason 50. That's that's I mean, uh, Big fan of your game. Little surprising was still there, 23. What are the one or two things You think you have to work on to get better at the next level? Always make assistant like every place is going out there and just dominate every place I go. I know our kids, um, shoot out of the game. So once I get in that room, um in the facilities and everything. It's taking everything in line and everything and I feel like I'll be just fine. Yeah, Christian, this is Jim Nagy. It the recent senior ball. We're just kind of bummed You came out early I was planning on in our game next year, man. But no seriously. And in a weird year like this, where you couldn't go on 30 visits and things like that, like, did you have any way of no one who liked you? And you like going into going into the Thursday night? Did you have a sense of where you might go? Um, So the bike is definitely wasn't my heart from my list. I talked to him one time. It was only with office alive boat, So I didn't know I was gonna go there, but I definitely kind of like a feeling like a different like five teams. Moved home. They were actually interested me, and if I'm there, they won't take me. So you definitely get that feeling from a few teams, but someone was kind of hard like the cast about Christian. How much did you also learn from one of the best defense of Lyman is an offensive tackle. When Darryl Tapp came back to Virginia Tech, we always refer to deal tapas, Hokey bird. You know, just just had being around to him and having him go. Look, Do you conduce this to match this? What did you learn from Darryl Tapp? I learned a lot. Um, just from dislike the transition. I'm gonna need coming into the league in my heart of practice and everything like that Be about being on a pedestal with him, Um Might be don't wanna ones and he's costumed villain that you might tell me some of how to take that away like what the D line was going to do, so I definitely gained a lot from top for sure. And I'm missing. Person. I was like one of the most interesting things by the way, we're talking to Christian Dare assault now Minnesota Viking, so cool to say for you, man. And I think one of the most interesting things about this for guys that get drafted is the life adjustment. I mean, you just mentioned Ocean City. You went to Virginia Tech. Now, all of a sudden, you're gonna be living in Minnesota. Like I know it's early to be wrapping your head around it. But so what's your plan? Like? How do you plan to attack that life adjustment? Um Definitely I will not be in Minnesota yesterday that the country villa and see how everything Woz. Um, but I don't feel like I don't that very quickly. It's just like how my prep school They want to Virginia Tech after like the transition won't be hard at all, just like it's just living there, and it's like being on my own and everything. I feel like transitional. Be easy for you mentioned prep school for people who don't know he went to Fort Union Military Academy. Guys like Eddie George went to Fort Union Military Academy. Going there. How much did that change your life? You and I talked about this last week for people miss that conversation. How much did going to fork Union change, not just the player, but the person. I'll tell you the person tremendously because usually I'm not like outgoing person and one of the talk so everybody I usually like to stand back and everything but Gina Ford again, But you don't have anything. You have your phones and nothing like that. So you really you gotta communicate. People communicate with people and everything. So, um, just get in there. Uh, it definitely helped me decide to be a better person is like interact with people in engage. And I was like that. That really helped me the most. I Christmas that bed still being made. I mean, it's still pristine, perfect. Oh, Oh, yes. Oh, Chris, Christian. I know you're not gonna like you're not gonna throw any shaded anybody. I'm not asking to see opposite here. Who are you looking forward to most like playing against? Mom, that little Rams game. Erin Donald? Um and I know we got the 40 Niners. Scimitars is little both the brothers for sure. And I was good. We all looked at each other like he wants. He's looking forward to playing. Aaron. Donald, You are a sick human being Christian Dara saw. I love that. I absolutely love that. You want the best Christian? I got one last question for I got one last question for you. One of your teammates. Cool. Herbert still on the board? Um Hadn't unbelievable, unbelievable season toting the rock behind you. Just what are these NFL teams missing on uncle it because he's an outstanding running back. Well, they're basing a lot just like a great guy. But he's a better person like a better play. I say, uh but I just I I was just taking them a while ago. Like he seems sleeping. He told me like whatever team six opportunity on him. He's gonna make the most out most out of it and the show everyone they're passing upon the great player. Um Hope he doesn't have gone somewhere with a great situation so he can have the opportunity to do that. But it seems that definitely sleeping on well that that phone number that called you from Minnesota the other night. Call that right back and start lobbying for your God. Chris. I have to Christian. We appreciate your time and congratulations. Just I'll tell you this man. You worked your whole life to get here through all of the change in all of the madness is about to happen. At least give yourself a second toe. Look at it and appreciate the fact that you made it dreams came true. Do this is a cool moment for everybody that watches it for you. We're really happy for you, dude. Thanks for coming on. So I appreciate that.

"Welcome. Here's Robin Lundberg and I'm joined now. By Jeff Carr, CBS Sports NFL Writer. Of course. Something going on in the NFL right now, Jeff. Yeah, There's this thing called the draft. I guess. You know, they say three, Robin, you know, case you were under a bunker for the last 48 hours. Well, let's go with some of the later picks before we go back to the top of the You know the draft. I think that the notable ones people are talking about are always the quarterbacks right that that just comes with the territory. So called trash being drafted by Tampa. Of course, you also had Davis Mills going to Houston. And you had the picked by the Vikings Monday Going T O The Minnesota Vikings Kellen Month. Write any of those one. Stand out to you and in particular. Well, Kyle Traffic and Davis Mills were the two when Davis Mills was picked up. How many quarterbacks is the Texans? Had? I actually had the look enough because I mean, you obviously have the shore watching on your roster. And who knows if he's ever coming back. You have Tyrod Taylor and you know, I'm just looking at. I think I have five quarterbacks total on the roster and obviously tell Kelly Mahon you know, I'm sure Her cousin's welcome Christian Dara shoulder the liking on Twitter. I don't think he welcomed the Taliban did, but that's a replacement. They think McConnell traffic. I know, Jason let's said last night. Tom Brady's not worried about competition and write, you know, but the bus obviously have to prepare for the future in case Tom Brady ever decides. Hey, look. I'm good. And you know, I want a Super Bowl. Maybe I want another one. I'm good guys. I did what I had to do. Well, Yeah, just I mean, simply age. I mean, it seems like the actually a perfect situation for that that actual quarterback to be groomed. It's almost like it's almost like the Jordan love situation in Green Bay, except the incumbent doesn't hate you. Exactly. I don't think Tom Brady's gonna hate Kyle traffic. I actually think you'll work with them and try to keep the Bucks franchise going this well, they can because look, you know, you can't the basic Can they be older? No doubt. They have a lot of I don't want to aging players. But players you know, in their prime or about the exit their prime, but they're primed to win Super Bowls. Now, But you know, Kyle dressed. He may leave that next era with the good players you still have. You know, I don't see Antonio Brown never going anywhere else. And he should be good for another two or three years. When young when Kyle Traffic takes over, Chris Goblin, come be there a long time. Mike Evans is gonna be there a long time. But yeah, etcetera, and their offensive line's pretty young. So Yeah, I could see Tom Brady grooming this guy for Yo to be his heir apparent whenever that may be. Let's go back to the top of the draft. Everybody was waiting for what the 40 Niners would do it. Number three. I find it kind of funny afterwards. Like all the Mack Jones speculation, and there was Trey Lance, I refused to believe they didn't know who they were taking after they made that trade and had all this time where we we all knew Trevor Laurence is going one Exact Wilson was going to, But do you think that 49 has made the right pick up three? Well, this is how I broke it down that I was the same way you robbed and I was telling people I would bet my house that the 40 Niners. We're not gonna take Mascone. They just weren't going to do it. You know that when they traded up They had an idea of who they were going to get. You know, I'm sure the and look I'll give John looks like credit. He did admit to making a call about their Rogers because he's right. A former M V P who would but When they trade up. I thought they were initially trained up for Justin feels I thought he'd be a perfect fit for that offense. But I said, but Trey Lance would also work for them as well. And trade. Lance ended up being the guy they took. And I don't have a problem with Trey Lancer. Three. I just felt like that they passed on the golden opportunity to add, at least in my opinion, the second best Quarterback in this draft and Justin Fields, but but I digress. I think freelance is gonna be a fine player for them. I think you're going to be an upgrade over Jimmy Garoppolo in the role in the long run, and ultimately I kind of hope they started week one cause I feel like that. They're good enough of the team, but he could be a game Adger and eventually developed into Ah, a Pro Bowl quarterback down the line. Having Lundberg talking to Jeff Carr, CBS Sports NFL writer here on CBS Sports Radio. Now when you refer to fields is the second best quarterback of the draft, Lance went three. But Zach Wilson also went at number two. So does that mean you take the Jets made the wrong pick at two. I don't think the Jets made necessarily the wrong thing, because I kind of like what they're doing around him. And again. They're building an offensive. They're doing the opposite of what they did with Sands Arnold. And look when they do the Donald. I wasn't that high on him either. Like I know everybody like the point through the The the 16 Rose, born as a pen secret who was actually at that game on? Yeah, he had a great game. But since the cornerbacks for playing 10 15 yards off the ball, so he had all days and look at the guys he was throwing two years divides. Theology. Burnett. You do just Ms Schuster, etcetera, but I die aggressive, but that Wilson to me, I I think it's more of I need to see morale is Zach Wilson, the the only Zach Wilson game. I We watched last year was the coast of Carolina game and he played okay. I still think he's very wrong. I see. The potential. I see the upside in him. I really like his arm strength, but I think where he's gonna be successful in New York is what they build around him, and they're doing a really good job of that on the offensive line with a large, very talker, getting him to 14 trading up to get him. I really like that Pick their offensive line has been getting a lot better under Joe Douglas again. I think Zack Wilson success is gonna be what they build around him and allow them to maximize The clear talent he does have. I just think Justin Fields is a little better than them. Well to Justin Fields. How do you like the fit in Chicago? Well, I hate to cover if you get any worse, right? I mean, they have any job they have. Nick Foles just feels is a clear upgrade over them. You know, I actually was laughing at the Bears when they had the QB one Twitter post. 80 don't like. Oh, wait that now They got us a deal. Do Bobby should start day We'll hire a maid. I don't even consider this. A bold prediction. Justin Fields is going to be the 1st 30 touchdowns passing quarterback ever in the Three of the Chicago Bears, You know that I'm not really going out stretch here..

Jimmy Garoppolo Jeff Carr Chris Goblin Tyrod Taylor Robin Lundberg Joe Douglas Zach Wilson Antonio Brown Kelly Mahon Trevor Laurence Tom Brady Mike Evans Trey Lancer Justin Fields Trey Lance Jason Zack Wilson Kyle Traffic Jeff Nick Foles

You know, I'm sure the and look I'll give John looks like credit. He did admit to making a call about their Rogers because he's right. A former M V P Would buy. When they trade up. I thought they were initially trained up for Justin Fields. I thought he'd be a perfect fit for that offense. But I said, But Trey Lance would also work for them as well. And Trey. Lance ended up being the guy they took. And I don't have a problem with Trey Lancer. Three. I just felt like that they passed on the golden opportunity to add, at least in my opinion, the second best Quarterback in this draft and Justin Fields, but but I digress. I did freelance is gonna be a fine player for them. I think he's going to be an upgrade over Jimmy Garoppolo in the role in the long run, and ultimately I kind of hoped he started week one cause I feel like that. They're good enough of the team, but he could be a game Adger and eventually developed into Ah, a Pro Bowl quarterback down the line. Having Lundberg talking to Jeff Carr, CBS Sports NFL writer here on CBS Sports Radio. Now when you refer to field is the second best quarterback of the draft, Lance went three. And when they do the Donald I wasn't that high on him either. Like I know everybody like the point to the The the 16 Rose, born as a pen secret who was actually at that game on? Yeah, he had a great game. But since the cornerbacks for playing 10 15 yards, all the ball, so he had all days and look at the guys he was throwing to You Divide theology. Burnett. You do just Ms Schuster, etcetera, but I die aggressive, but that Wilson to me, I I think it's more of I need to see morale is Zach Wilson, the the only Zach Wilson game? I We watched last year was the coast of Carolina game and he played okay. I still think he's very wrong. I see the potential. I see the upside in him. I really like his arm strength. But I think where he's gonna be successful in New York is what they build around him, and they're doing a really good job of that on the offensive line with a large various soccer getting him the 14 trading up to get him. I really like that pick Our offensive line has been getting a lot better under Joe Douglas again. I think that Wilson success is gonna be what they build around him and allow them to maximize the clear talent he does have. I just think Justin Fields is a little better than them. To Justin Fields. How do you like the fit in Chicago? Well, I think that if you get any worse, right? I mean, they have any job they have. Nick Foles just feels is a clear upgrade over them. You know, I actually was laughing at the Bears when they had the QB one Twitter post. And he don't like. Oh, wait that now They got us a deal. Do promises. Start day one. I remade. I don't even consider this. A bold prediction. Justin Fields is going to be the 1st 30 touchdowns passing quarterback ever in the Three of the Chicago Bears, You know that I'm not really going out of stretch here, but what I like about Joseph Field is The ability to run on the move, which Mitchell too risky had, but I don't think he was as dynamic of a runner. I feel like Matt, Maggie and Yeah, I'm already losing track of their offense coordinator. David felt one week but the mother I feel like what they're going to do is They are going to maximize fields of strength that a higher state didn't use. And that's his running ability and allow him to get outside the pocket and throw the ball downfield to guys like our Robson's guys like Darnell Boot..

"On tackle Virginia Tech Hokies were the only F B s school to offer. Dara saw a scholarship and he rewarded them by starting all but two games over the last three seasons. Paris All finished off his college career with a first team All a cc selection size is not the issue at 643 22. Neither are his strong hands or nimble feet. Scouts just wish Tarasov finished plays better. I love this picked by by Minnesota, and there's no excuses this year. They have to go back and make the playoffs. Now. I know that this team and this conference is much tougher the NFC than it is the A F. C when you look at the amount of playoff spots that are open, But you look at this offense now. Kirk cousins, not great. But he could get to the playoffs. You got Jefferson. You got cook. You got dealing. Now you're adding another offensive lineman, and Christian Dara saw Mike Zimmer. I don't You know, when you look at coaches that have pressure on in this year, Mike Zimmer is close to as you know, right to the top of the list because it seems as every year it's make the playoffs. Mr Players make the playoffs missed the playoffs. He's got to get that defense cooking once again in 2021 between him and Spielman. They they're both gonna feel it. I still feel that for all of the offensive weapons that they have For everything that this team does. They're going to put up points. They're just inconsistent. The Minnesota Vikings have just seemingly been an average team. They haven't gone over that hump. I don't know if they will. I don't see summer there for long to be honest, and I look at Darius Oh, here's why I also like the Dara saw pick he seasoned. He was one of only nine true of freshman offensive lineman to start week one in the FBS in 2018. He's a 20 21st team, all SEC player. He started every game he played in each of the past two seasons. So 24 games Starting at the college level at the offensive line spot the Steelers pick is in. We're going to stay put here, guys, we could take a break. I we're gonna take a break and we'll find out who the Steelers are going to take when we come on back. Is it running back? Or is it an offense alignment to help Big Ben? We'll find out when the 2021 NFL draft show does continue right here on CBS.

"The Dallas Cowboys have traded the 10th pick to the Philadelphia Eagles with the 10th pick. Philadelphia Eagles slinging Devante Smith breaking news here. Giants were gonna trade the pick to the Chicago Bears with the 11th pick. My Chicago mayor Select Just Infield. Actually just got a text from Minnesota. Their trade the pick, so this is it. This will be the third trade of the first round. The Minnesota Vikings have traded. In the 14th pick to the New York Jets with the 14th pick. The New York Jets select Elijah Vera Tucker back to the studios of Fox Sports Radio. Once again, Jay Glazer, Kevin Burkhardt, LeVar airing Ted and Bucky Brooks. That's right. First round of the NFL draft so glad you're with us tonight, hanging with the fellas and hanging with you as we have hit, Let's see 11 Eastern now. Officially in this first round. The Titans are on the clock. Pick number 22. We've had some action in this first. Well, we've had some trades of fuel. And as a matter of fact, involving the NFC East, you heard a couple those on the cliffs coming back. And now the Titans. About to make their selections. We get to the bottom of this first round here and, you know, most of the big time stars are off the grid. And now Roger Goodell steps up. To make this Titan speak. Really? You talk about intrigue left. There's still one day and that we thought was gonna get chosen earlier, and it won't go here to Tennessee. Um But there is all still sitting there That is Obama team. I'm like man. There's still that one guy left. I'm either in Minnesota's nude. I'm trying to trade up with Minnesota. But I know Minnesota need the offensive line into shit. That's the one guy we even kind of larger more but a lot more. You could see that here, but, man, um No. Darius was the one guy of all the guys we had were a little surprised that still because you said you'd been looking for my list going who we missing here. Can't Farley rank very high? Let me tell you why I hate Kayla Farley out on on my mind. Listen, he's just now gone, Tonto. Three injuries. I'm just saying, though. I mean, the guy is in the draft, and he's going Ready to go first round. I mean, you still got to give him a little bit of little bit of love him. He's on his back, and they sell in the past. But, yeah, I said that to you earlier here. You gave me that. Same answer right? Soon as we came with you, Caleb Farley's There's my number. 12 guy on my my top. My big board My number three. My number three cornerback. But you know what it takes. It takes a It takes a team like a Tennessee titans. Would a guy like Mike Vrabel to see somebody trashes their treasure? I mean, Wow. Why not? Wait. Take the voiceover guy. A lot of money coming in here unannounced. The pic? Yeah, with the 22nd pick. Tennessee Titans Select Caleb Barley. Cornerback Virginia attack. Is that you doing the voice over me? Is that why you got a little sensitive? If it's me? I could tell you. I didn't get paid a lot of money to do it. That is a fact. I said, there you go. You guys are obviously talking about it, but we have to be official with Farley. And Minnesota's kind of jump all over dollars. So they got to jump all over because they were even talking about guys like that early. You know, up there where they're originally until they trade out with the Jets when they're sitting there, 14. They got to go with a guy like carrots. He been like the last guy. We still haven't are bored, but go back here to Farley. You know, I know you like him. I do, Fucky. You know again. If you were on the team right now, Would you be comfortable with those? Injuries of the sad I'll be worried about the back because twice he's added twice, years should as prematurely shut down his 2019 season And then he had the surgery right before the draft. Um So I won't worry about it. Um, now you picked him. He's a talented player. He's athletic. He terrific instincts and ball skills and those things I don't think he's his fastest. People portray him to be, but I think he is fast enough to make plays on the perimeter. Just, you know. Rupture mile for Elf four times. L one l two twice her needs C 2345 and I still run an 86 40. What about what about if you had to have shoulder surgery on your right throwing on had it left handed? September Would you had labor and two rotator cuff terrorists? You talk about things like, what about just going back to you? Throughout this? We're throwing out critical injuries that could be critical to what your perform. It's is and we had a guy that went well fairly high. You know, like number two overall and had to get his throwing shoulder repaired, so I don't know. Go call me crazy, but I mean, if I'm thinking about a cornerback and it back surgeries versus a quarterback, having to get his Throwing arm reconstructed. I mean, which one is going to be worse. So you got to take a chance. I mean, take a chance on the guy. I mean, he's still playing, right? He just went on the first day too. Right away. Listen, first round pick right there. You went on the first date, So I mean, something happened, right? Even with those back surgeries is all I must say. We shall see just saying, if you don't want you to say what you have won, it made your life was never the same. It just keeps going. Never stand. I could never. I could never stop once Once it happened for me. I just never stopped. It was like all the time for me. I was like, really into it. You guys have no idea what I'm talking about. But I do now you could work with me and figure it out on your own thinking you're talking about back there was a tad bit of comic relief. That's all that was Oh, there you go. We're gonna invade your LeVar wasn't it? But we're not giving you any space. But just because we fear for our jobs. I understand that I have been doing this radio thing for quite some time. Now, though, I do kind of a big deal around here. You gonna be really, really go here with the anchorman? Think? No. No kind of a big deal. Okay, but not so much here many leather bound books and you're known to hang out with you and I am run Bergen. Yeah. Good. Show everyone a good show. Great show. Well done. Well done. Well done. Yeah. There you go. Stake last show tonight if you just turn this on, And if you're you know, somewhere, and you're you didn't know what's gone on tonight. Trevor Laurence, one number one of the Jags. Zach Wilson. The guy that LeVar is talking about the surgery will go to to the Jets. Trey Lance to the 40 Niners. That was the thing that started to stir this draft up a little bit. Pits goes to the Falcons, and then you go down Chase of the Bangles Waddle the Dolphins. You saw some trades there. The Eagles jumped up with the Cowboys. They took Devante Smith, the Heisman winner. And the Bears made the trade. They go up and get that deal with the giant to fullback because they wanted Smith and they were out of luck. And the bears get Justin Fields that the biggest surprising move the biggest move of this first round plays. Yeah, I think without a doubt, I think I'm going all the way up there and getting Justin Fields was the Shake up if you will of this draft without a doubt and again. Everybody had Mack Jones going three. I didn't see it happening. Just want everything else told I didn't see that happened. And I knew that that was going to throw things in flux and going into this draft. About a month ago, people thought there be Five quarterbacks taken in the first eight picks or something along those lines, right And they thought it was gonna go to Atlanta. They thought there's gonna be got one going to Carolina want to Denver and I just didn't see that happening so they didn't slide as much. Maybe I thought they would, but they slid obviously into the middle of the first round. I'm not surprised by and here's the quick reason why I'll tell you I'm not is because you're talking about a team that was really actively pursuing a tray with one Russell Wilson. Think about it. Now you gotta watch now you get and the Shawn watch. But in terms of comparison wise, just I Justin Fields is comparable to the playing style of one. Russell Wilson. Well, the Minnesota Vikings. Yes, pick is in. Finally, Let's hear it. With the 23rd pick. The Minnesota Vikings Select Christian Dara saw Offensive lineman Virginia attack. So just to give you a little basis here. They traded with the Jets. Right, Bucky the Jets go, Allie. Vera Tucker. The Vikings go down quite a ways and they get Paris also who made out better here on this deal. I mean, Very talking is an absolute do Oh, I mean, he's an absolute dude. Yes, he's inside outside versatility. Doing so is the guy I told you, Darren. So is the guy understanding Keep the best. He's the nightclub bouncer was telling, you know, know, Whitey's know Tim's got a get out the club, So he throws about the club all the time, however, Very Tucker's versatility was the deciding factor for me Why you're on Darius..

"Now a member of the Tennessee Titans, I think the thing that they mentioned there I think is a perfect way to describe his instincts. And that's the thing that you love about. Caleb Farley, remember talking with him with Steve Atwater about Caleb Farmer because that's his favorite quarterback in this draft? And you just you just pops when it comes to that. You're right. He's a converted guy, so he's still learning the position a little bit the tackling stuff. Some people talk about that type of that. He's a little bit grabby. But again, you know, one of the things that you feel as though and one more knock against Mrs Freelancing like that's another thing. That was a little bit of a knock against him. But those are all things that most coaches Can work with and maybe coach out of him. It's the other stuff that you can, and that's why he's only prospect. This guy went from quarterback to wide receiver and then quarterback once he got to wake Forest, which is interesting. A doesn't have a whole lot of experience in that position, but they still consider him to be NFL ready. He is not only NFL ready? He is. He's a guy when you when you were watching him. Play is something that that's magical about him. You know, like, you know, Run. You said something that that I don't agree with, you know, coaches Coaching, You know, maybe guys taking risk at plan a cornerback position freelancing a little bit Well, I mean, You know, it depends on film study. You know if a team has a great tendency to do something in a clutch moment, and you take your shot. I just think that's football. You know, I'm saying, I just think that's that's the way football is supposed to be played. A key to leave. I guarantee you took more chances than any coach was comfortable with, but he also got a lot of interceptions. But there's a certain amount of ego that comes with playing that position. Right. So that's some of the things that you see with some of these guys When you feel like you're the best athlete on the field, and sometimes you feel like you got to do something extra to help your team win. That's some of the things that you saw with Caleb Farley seemed like he was doing more than he should do now, if he's on a team with a good with a good defense, and he and he feel like he could trust his guys. I think a lot of that could be coached out of it, right. And I think when you start talking about Ah, you wanted him. You want to see a little more out of him? I think when you look at horn, right, you took a JC horn. You what? Farley would play like that? Yes. You know, I'm saying that you wished that he was show up. With his lunch pails, saying a I mean your grill all day whenever she doesn't do that, But I'm telling you, man, when you watch this kid on film, and there's something magical about the way that he plays the game. I can't describe it, but You know? If you look at Michael Parsons, you say he's a He's a great middle linebacker, right? But when you look at saving college, you say that I don't even know what you call that because that's different. You know, I'm saying so. They're different types of players, those that are traditional and then those that are unconvinced. Unconventional. You know, Jamaar chase unconventional, right. He's not just a wide receiver. He's a wide receiver, slash running back, You know, I'm saying so. There's some special players in this draft. I think he could be a unicorn if he's not injured. That's the big issue If he's injured well, and it's a big thing, that's how everybody I talked to said the injury concerns you either off the border. You're all in on it. Because if you're all in on him, you're getting Charles Woodson. That's the comparison they made to him is the place. But you know the injury questions. You can't burn a first round pick unless you're sure it, I guess. The Tennessee Titans were sure I would say this also about grading cornerbacks. At least in today's NFL. I mean, I would want my corners to be like Champ Bailey. Oh, yeah. Able tow cover guys, but also more than willing to come up and throw his body and make a big play tackling, but I'm not. I'm not gonna downgrade a player too much because he and college has has shown on tape that he's not a great tackler. I'm drafting again in the first round. If you're gonna be out there on the edge, and you gonna be covering all these dudes that make a lot of money with these quarterbacks in the league set up for the offense toe be great, and I'm I'm gonna draft a guy that can cover that has great cover skills. And I think Farley has that right. Right. I agree, Dave. And don't forget we got a guy over in Kansas City who's who just signed a 400. 50 or the foreigners. $60 million contract. That's That's a half a billion dollars, man. That's a half a billion dollars. Just like that home, man. Half a billion dollars. Yeah, we want guys over there to cover his receivers. Minnesota is, uh, is next pick number 23 the pickers in what you have been. It's gonna be Christian Dara solve this pick offensive tackle. Another charge is very high on him. Didn't expect response later to fall to them that there's gonna be Christian Marisol here. I think it's a great pick Overall. I know they needed to tackle out there and they were keeping around. Managed to trade down still get their guys. So I think it's a pretty good pick. I love there. So yeah, this is a fantastic pick. I mean, you again. You're talking about a guy that's almost 65 322. Pounds on do they needed an elite offensive tackle in this draft. They like the life Very Tucker we've talked about that earlier decided not to go that to go all the way back into the twenties and get a guy that some teams had as a top 10. Offensive tackle. This is a steel. This is one of my favorite picks of the draft back to back Virginia Tech players for Lee and and that, by the way, 10 of the 1st 20 players, SEC players. Well, it's six of the 1st 17 Alabama players. I mean, you wonder Nick Saban is as good a college coaches we've ever seen, but You don't you don't win at that level. Unless you're getting good players. They've had six players in the top. 17 drafted, right, right. And then you look at Ah The kind of players that they're getting next year. In the year after that in the year after that, you know, and there's no question that Alabama's a machine I mean, we went. We went all these years. Here in Denver without drafting. Ah, first rounder from Alabama at all. Yep, we haven't drafted..

So e coming up in a 30 talking about money? Smith, Of course, from K L A C A. M. 5 70. I fell. Network chargers play by play guy. You need another job, Matt. I feel like you don't have enough to do. Um, I could I could do I could You know what? I could use Another job to be all right with that? Everybody out there is, uh, is hiring. As I heard you mention the 6%. I got me kind of excited. I do quickly want to point out or not, But I would love to quickly plug with your massive audience. You're okay. If I If you are interested in attracted all I will be hosting the Post draft show for the NFL's digital accounts. So you know NFL dot com YouTube the NFL channel on YouTube, I think Twitter runs alive. All that sort of tells media NFL outlets. They're digital and not on the NFL network out doing it with Bucky Brooks, who was a longtime scout. In the NFL Lancer line. Who long time scouting Thomas Dimitrov was B g and the Falcons for about 20 years. We'll all be doing it right after the draft ends. What are you gonna wear? And are you gonna be wearing pants? Um I don't know if I'll be wearing pants. Yeah, because I'm a home Still, you know, I've got this crazy set up at home with this remote cam that they can control from the room there and then all that sort of stuff. So I usually just wear what they tell me and they usually when it comes to the house only tell me what to wear on the top. So What's on the bottom is as good against is anybody that's kind of our relationship here on the show to like, whatever. Just don't wear those pants again. Something like that. Is that how it goes, they come in and Like when Shannon decides to put her feet up on the table, snapping photos and post them on the gram. All right, Okay. Maybe maybe it's not a woman O. J can't Maybe it's maybe it's a day for flat. All right. So tell me, Trevor Laurence anticlimactic, right? But what is ah, big story that we should be looking out for tonight. Come on, Shannon. Just spit it out. Why are we doing this? Max? What are we doing here? What do you want to know what the 40 Niners we're gonna do is the right man. Why do you think we're doing here? Let's just get to it. Uh, nobody s so This is kind of what my understanding is, and I think this this is something that I had heard right after they made the trade at least a couple days after the trade, and I think it's become public now And that is that. This is kind of a little bit of a power pick. You know that. The Kyle Shanahan really likes Mac Jones and almost everybody else, and the organization does directions a dozen but is kind of split on these other two quarterbacks, Trey Lands and Justin Field. I think it's more Trey Lance. Thing kid from North Dakota state. So look, that's that's that's what makes the draft special is quarterback well, and also it's also the psyches of some of the coaches and G M's like, for instance, Kyle Shanahan is still upset about missing out on Patrick Mahomes. However, many years ago I blew that right for a system. That's why he's in his head so much about this quarterback situation. Head How about the Chargers and the Rams? Well, what are we expecting from them? I'm expecting the Ram's dad Freaking hang out with a bunch of Hollywood stars, and they're cool House Freaking cool, Cool house in Malibu. It's a stupid house. It's stupid what they're doing, but you know what if they if they knock it out of the park, and they draft great, then you know what good for them, but they better because they've done a draft differently this year than any other team. They haven't sent any coaches or scouts any pro days. They didn't send anybody to the Pro Bowl. I'm sorry, not the problem, but it sounded Senior bowl and they didn't just not do it, but they were up front about it. They did articles about it. They they went on the record and said, Why, and it's like, Well, you if you've somehow cracked a code that the other 31 teams haven't And instead of just looks like you're being lazy, But maybe you really have figured something out. Then you better knock it out of the park in this draft because you know they're busy partying at some house in Malibu, while every other team There isn't one of them. Are in war rooms and huddled with their scouts and not doing videos with rebel Wilson and Freaking Brody, Jenner and all that stupid crap. So, um, I hope for their sake, they get it right because they certainly have put themselves out there. They don't have a first round pick so they won't They basically had. They've decided that first round picks are most valuable is current players that they're happy to pay in Claire's that are already established, so they trade on their first round picks for other players. They did it from its staff this year. They did it in the middle of the year last year for Jalen Ramsey. They didn't put that Franco. It's a wide receiver so they don't have a first round pick and they won't have one next year, either. S so that's the rand situation for the Chargers. They're picking at 13. It's an interesting spot. Um Everybody points to needs, you know, they need an offensive lineman. They need a cornerback. But the same time just kind of being around Tom Poleska like we are you sick man. He's the general manager of the charges. He's gonna be making the selection ultimately. He's one of these guys that you know there's somebody else that he believes is a lot better than anyone that's left in the draft. At that point when they pick 13th. I'll just take that player that could be a wide receiver could be a linebacker. It could be whatever defensive linemen whatever it may be, so I think the names if you wanna kind of maybe sounds far with your friends. I think the names to keep an eye on R R. J C horn, which he's Joe Horn, who was a long time. Wide receiver for the same his son, who is a great cornerback out of South Carolina. He plays defensive back Another name is Sean Slater. He's an offensive lineman. Other Northwest. There's nothing Christian Dara saw Virginia Tech. I think those to my feet Yeah, that's what my money's on. I mean, you know, best available is is the way that till Esko works sometimes, but you've got to protect that kid. That kid would be Justin Herbert. The quarterback? Yes. And you're right, Ugo. But you know what? Um They had the worst offensive line in the league last year, and he was fine, he says. OK, we threw for 31 touchdowns he threw for 4300 yards. He was one of the best quarterback in the game. They had leads and fourth quarters of five games last year. Fourth quarter leads in five games that they lost. Don't remind me tells me that fix the defense. You know, you don't necessarily need the offensive line to be fixed it that players not look, that player is good enough to take I wouldn't be surprised if one of these four pass catchers slides, the 13 that they just load up and you know, instead of instead of getting it in the first round of protect him on the front Just another weapon. We'll get out of this man's hands faster. That's another way to protect the quarterback. Right is you give them weapons where he could get rid of the ball busters so dependent on him to get because he's got so many options. They're gonna be open almost immediately on..

Which brings us to Los Vegas Raiders. And for that we go to the phone line. 5 to 2987 to welcome in Aaron, our resident Raider fan, Aaron. Good to hear from you. Fire away if you gotta pick for the Vegas Raiders. All right. Thanks. We're in. You know, the Rangers need a linebacker. They needed a couple of years now and I really like Michael person, Um The Broncos took him and so I think it was colder. Now we have a defensive coordinator with Gus Bradley. I'd love to kind of get a new legion of boom starting up on our team in Las Vegas, So I think we're gonna go with A linebacker. Lucious homered, Um and that would be Jeremiah Lucey current moment, also known as Jock. Out of Notre Dame. And and by the way, extra points for being able TOC his name, But we will just call him Jock from now on Jeremiah Woo Suk or Amoah, the linebacker from Notre Dame. Fantastic pick. I think right now we have a few teams that are interested in linebacker. And this is kind of where we're going to see a run tomorrow night on linebackers. Erin appreciate the time as always Last question before I let you go. Are you scared at all about the Padres? No, it's too early in the season. Hey, Baron of Erin Appreciate you, Bud Aaron joining us representing his Raiders and his Dodgers here on drive time Sports. So Jeremiah Ah Woo Suk or Amoah? Is the pick of the Raiders enough. They're really good Pick. In my opinion. We got Miami and Washington. Grady is going to pick for the, uh, for Washington will get to his pick in a minute. But I want to welcome onto the program. A friend, Uh, both in my personal life In my professional life. He is JP from 98 1 cake CAF in the most dedicated bears fan than I know. How are you? G p I'm doing Well, Ryan, Thanks for having me thanks for the kind words. This is yet another draft for the Bears. Yet another moment where collectively we could be angry at Ryan taste for whatever he picks. But the biggest question to me JP well, other than how do you feel about Andy Dalton? Let's talk about that first and then we'll go into any potential quarterback in the draft. So Dalton physically has the attributes one. He looks like Ryan Kaufman. That's one You. He is a capable quarterback. He is not a game changer, but I don't really care. I actually liked the signing. I liked that It was a one year signing, so it was noncommittal. Kind of left. Feel it out. We're not going steady. We just want to see how it's going here. The thing right now. And if I know what happened with a lot of teams, especially the Broncos, too, but and I know I'm biased, but with the Bears In my life. I'm 43 in my lifetime. The quarterback situation in Chicago has been garbage forever. Jim McMahon still brought up and he just recently said Hey, man, Packers of the best organization ever played for like even our savior quarterback Jim McMahon. It wasn't great playing here. So the quarterback situation Chicago is touching the Middle East. Backup quarterback. Best job in the city. You free drinks you are you key to the city. The moment you get that starting job, you're a bum. And that is what happens Year after year. Which is why one I liked the Dalton deal and two. I don't want the bears to pick a quarterback, at least not in the first two rounds. I want to stay away. On that because all you're doing is Basically it's going to be a disaster, no matter what, because you're never going toe. Basically the missing Mahomes thing is like like skipping over Michael Jordan. You know, Trailblazer. People still bring that up back, Sambuca or whatever like that. That's what the Bears did. Okay enough with the drafting quarterback. Focus on the other needs and figure out your quarterback the free agency or trade or find out its own is going to do a second or third year. Will they even allow Ryan pace to trade up for a quarterback after Mitchell Tre Biscuit? Don't think I know. I don't think so at all. I think that Let's also keep in mind. This is the first time that Bear's got a first round pick in two years. Because the Khalil Mack deal they didn't get a pick last year or in 2019. So this is very much don't screw up, man. I mean, he's already In the public opinion. Ryan piece already done is a GM Anyway. Now you get in. There's a coach with a lot of people the very tough town Tito Cochin to play for in and I think the quarterback train far is picking one of the draft is something they shouldn't even touch. Not not with this. Now with this group, collectively, not with this ownership focus on the needs at hand, and that's that's where my pick would be if I get too active GM today. What? What? Where we did. What position would you drop? Well, um Unfortunately, I.

"Bella checks smart. He knows that the draft is very important for his team the way he kind of developed players finding Miche players for certain roles on his team. He's never been a guy that goes up. And, you know, uses his draft stock for one player. That's just not his. M O. You've seen this Ryan plenty of times and times again. He'd rather drive. Drop back in the draft, Get more draft capital get guys more in the middle rounds and then capitalize on that. Than trade up for that. So do I think that's gonna happen. Absolutely not. I can't see them going up before, um, can see and I could see him. Maybe going to 78 or nine Um, if a QB falls If no one falls. I would expect him. England traded to picket 15 or trade back Okay, well, the way that the board has come down, and I did this a little out of order because I wanted to have a longer conversation with you, Jake. But the Chargers and Minnesota's technically on the clock I don't think either one of them is going to take Mack Jones. So let me pose it to you. Mac Jones is the on Lee one left out of that group of five. If you're the Patriots at 15 and Mack Jones is there Do you take him? Without a doubt, you know, thinking twice about it one of the wine Here's you, and here's Here's a couple reasons. Okay, one. He's Obama kid. That's saving the Bella check connection there once again, and I just don't think that Bela Chick knows everything that you could possibly know about Mack Jones because of save him, too. He's a pocket passer, and I think the Patriots want to get back to the Tom Brady's type of brand of football. In the camp New and Brandon football. What I mean by that is this Lot more under center. Lot more deliberate reads and everything like that War, a pocket pass or less than what candid the past past year were. You know he they implemented more running game a lot more option plays. I don't think Bela Chick wants to play that type of football. He'd rather play a Tom Brady type of football Third. You know this, You know this. Well, Bella check love smart players. They don't they don't ended. And the other thing is Mack Jones doesn't turn over the ball. You have all for those things combined. I think fella checks going to say thank you, everybody. Mac Tone's dropping the 15. I'm gonna take it stoop up. We got our QB of the future. Let's keep on moving forward and the kicker. I do not have to spend any draft capital will make that happen. S O. I think Mack Jones is easy. But do I think Mack Jones is there, Ryan? No, I think he goes number three overall, and it's going to be between Lance and fields, but that's my personal opinion. Last thing before I let you go just before you're about to turn into card for the Patriots, John Lynch calls says if you give us pick 15 right now, we will give you Jimmy Garoppolo. Do you do that? Say Thanks, but no thanks. Grab below the third or fourth round pick. Um, No, no shot. I'm giving up. 1/15 round pick not no. No shot whatsoever. Wonder why when New England traded Jimmy What we will with that for that was for if I'm correct A second round pick in my right on that, Ryan? Yeah, I was Yeah. So you're not Jimmy. His stock has gone down. There's no way I'm giving up a first round pick for Jimmy G. But they said if if Lynch calls and says, Hey, I'm gonna give you 1/4 round pick for Jimmy G. Done easy Look with the look. And the best example of this look of the Broncos today with Teddy Bridgewater. No one was giving up more than 1/6 round Pick for brute Bridgewater today. Why would the Patriots get more up than 1/4 or fifth round pick for for for Garoppolo? Just doesn't make sense to me. Um And I think that's a backup option for New England if a QB doesn't fall What time are you on Channel five tonight, Jake. 6 20 at 6 20 PM and 10:20 P.m.. We're talking everything Broncos and looking at a run down right now I'll be. We have a really interesting QB comparison that I was talking about before between Bridgewater and lock and how much really not much different on and we'll have everything draft related today. Tomorrow, Troy rank from our Denver seven Snobs affiliate. Joins me tomorrow and is talking everything draft And as you know, Ryan, and hopefully your listeners Noah's well. Troy is plugged into the Broncos. He knows everything going on, and he's going to be a massive resource for us over a K A for the next couple days. Which were super excited about and hopefully the Broncos come out with some solid draft picks, just like last year. You could follow him on Twitter at Jake Gate and underscore TV. Jake. We need to do this, Maura, and that's on me. That's not on you. My friend will do this again soon. Thanks so much. Hey, Thanks, Ryan. Best in the springs. I appreciate you did. Yeah. I appreciate you as well. Jay Gate and Channel five. The main man over there, and they're sports department. Great having him on. So he takes Mack Jones from Alabama. I did this little valve order because I want to ask Jake some other questions before we go to break. Let's go to Dave, who is our Charger representative. He has been kind enough to call into the show, Dave. Hopefully, you've heard all the pics that have been made so far. Give me what the Chargers would do. And please don't say they would take Mac Jones. The Chargers take meant No, I'm kidding. Hey, Ryan, Who did Philly takes that does the only the linchpin I didn't catch. I'd levantus Smith. Okay. Thank you. Well, the Chargers are thrilled that a offense attack will happen to fall in their lap. It was between him and horn at this point in the draft, which we need cornerback health as well. So the Chargers With the 13th pick in the wonderful 1300 Drive time Sports mock NFL draft Select Shawn. Later offensive tackle Northwestern I love the pic. I have no reason Tolo disagree with you on that, Dave. That would be where I would go as well. Thank you for playing along. I've always appreciate your Ah. Your interaction with the program. You got it. Where? Sean Slater to your chargers. Best of luck tomorrow night. Thanks. Right. Take care. You two. So there you go. Response later Going to the L A chargers s o. We got Let me tidy this up, and then we'll take a break. J p 91 K K FM will join me, Aaron, You're going to be on the clock with the Raiders as well with was John Slater going to the Chargers. I'm on the clock with the Vikings. I will take I dare. Christian. Dara saw the next best tackle on the board after school and Slater so we get back to back tackles for the Chargers and the Vikings J Gate and selected Mac Jones. That leaves the other guy that Dave was considering for the Chargers. JC Horn. Arizona needs a cornerback. Um, they could also look wide receiver. But with the Big three gone, I think that the Cardinals will be thrilled. To give their defense a little bit of a boost with an aging Patrick Peterson and all that Jaycee horn cornerback out of South Carolina is the pick. For the Cardinals at number 16. Erin, that leaves you on the clock with the Raiders. We will take a break. Take your pick for the Raiders out of the break in J P from 91 K K FM will be my guests as well here in exports, 1300. Hey, y'all Their instructor here, you know, a.
