2024 Presidential Race Heats Up - Who's In and Who's Out?

"Tim Scott sets may 22nd, 21 days away from his announcement for 2024, and I also note that governor desantis allies, a super PAC, supporting Ron DeSantis, turned its fire on Nikki Haley this weekend. So it's on. Now, if I get my black book out, my black book is where I keep track of everyone who's in and who's not, governor Greg Abbott, question mark, of course, former president Trump is in. Governor Chris Christie, question mark, governor Ron DeSantis. That's a yes. He's in. Ambassador and governor Nikki Haley, she's in, governor achans, and he's in, governor Christi nom, big question, Mark. Don't think so. Vice president Mike Pence, he is in senator Tim Scott. He is in, governor Chris, Christian who knew big question, Mark. Governor Glenn youngkin, big question mark. Now I'm not sure about all these things. You know, I don't know about my question marks, but I'm sure about those who are going, they are each invited here every two weeks. I can't live with Vivek romance Swami on the show. Like he was on Friday. And every two weeks, he's welcome back as his governor Hutchinson as his senator Scott ambassador Haley as is the former president as is the Florida governor every two weeks during the year that we have underway. And it is a year. Less than a year. And I went to the green papers. That's the website where you have to really do your homework to figure out what's going on because the green papers is not for the faint hearted, the green paper is a little bit dense, but it's not like news items by John Ellis. That's my morning brief of what's gone in the world.

"Is being aware and honored and when we have asked today and our holy father has preceded us with the eucharist in Rome, and the celebration of the body and the blood of Christ, what a magnificent day and glory for us who are Catholics and who have the eucharist and this magnificent gift from the east to the west, this glory of God, that the priests are offering the bread and the wine and an unbroken lineage from Jesus at the last supper when he said take a knee. This is my body. Take a drink. This is my blood, and he gave that mandate to his apostles. Unbroken from that time, from apostle to the puzzle to bishops, to bishops, to priests all over the world, for these thousands of years, for these centuries, this sacrifice is being offered. And it is the same sacrifice as calvary. It is the celebration of his body and blood, the sacrifice of calvary, is being re presented is being re and acted is here celebrated in every altar. You know, false spirituality, all of us, not only protestants, but Catholics and orthodox who say I wish I was there when I could walk the road of calvary and see Jesus and be there on the hill of calvary. That's what the eucharist is. When you are at the eucharist at masts, when you are celebrating and you're in this when I now this morning celebrate the eucharist, this same sacrifice that Jesus had on calvary. In an unbloody sacrifice, here he is, take a knee, this is my body. Look at the host, take and drink. This is my blood. Look at the Chalice to come. Here before your very eyes is calvary. Here is Jesus on the cross. We are present, he looks at you and me from Calgary through the eucharist. Jesus in the mass is not something he is someone. He is the son of God. Offering himself up for the Salvation of the world. He is here in Omaha. He is here in your parish. He is here on this altar. This magnificent gift which he has given us. It is the most of blessed of all the sacraments. We call it the most blessed sacrament because it is the sacrifice and it is also a sacrament. When you receive the body and blood of Christ, this manna that he has given us from heaven. The body and blood of Christ, Corpus Christi in Latin means the body of Christ, song, Christian, the blood of Christ. Jesus body and blood is here offered on our altar. We don't wish a bread. This is Jesus when the bread, which he gave us, I will give you bread from heaven, says Jesus. And this bread is my body, this bread is my flesh for the life of the world. Read, chapter 6 in John gospel. Your father's 8 man in the desert. He told the Jews, and they died, but I am the living bread come down from heaven. I am the bread of life. I am the bread that the father is going to give you. And so this bread is Jesus. It is his flesh. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood will have life in him, and I will raise him up on the last day. My brothers and sisters, you who are my fellow Catholics, you actually eat the flesh of Jesus and drink his blood, our faith tells us. This is what we are doing. Eat my flesh, drink my blood. How close do I want to be with you? It's not cannibalism. It's love. The eucharist is the love first of God for me. The father saying to me, I want you this close to my son. I want you so united with my son. You are my daughter. You are my child. Take an eat his flesh and drink his blood, become one with him, as the father gazes at us, gathered at the eucharist today. He sees only one Jesus. When does that begin in the father's eyes? This is the deepest truth about you and me. He sees it through our baptism. He took you to himself when he united you with his son, Jesus, in baptism. When you were united with him through the power of the Holy Spirit in confirmation. Think of yourself as a married person when you were your united with him, the intimacy of the marriage union of the sacrament of marriage. The two become one flesh, but that fleshly union of a husband and wife, which is sacramentally that union, it is your flesh union that is the sign of your oneness in Christ as the husband and wife for one, so that union that you have is only a shadow a mystery, a shadow of the eucharist. The eucharist is such an intimacy and a union between you and Jesus. The spousal relationship of a husband and wife is the sign of what the eucharist is, so much do I love you, Jesus says, to his spouse, the church, that I have united you with me through water that came forth from his side and the blood which is the eucharist, the eucharistic side, take and drink. Eat my flesh and my blood. So intimate do I, your spouse, Jesus, want to be with you. That's the sacrament. First Jesus gives us the eucharist, his death on the cross. The sacrifice. At mass. Second, Jesus gives us holy communion. The union with him. He, my flesh, drink my blood. Your father, who so loved you that heals loves you in him. And through him and with him and the sign of this, this Sunday is gathering in the father's arms all of us in Christ, bringing us to himself. You are not only one with shim here on earth. This Sunday. This is the majesty and the beauty of every eucharist. It is a banquet celebrated in heaven. By the sacred, holy ones there. They are united and it is a forever sacrament. It is a sign of your forever life. It's a sacrament not only that unites you hear, but it is a pledge of eternal life. Every time you receive communion, listen to the prayers of mass forever and ever, through him and with him and in him. In the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever. We, in this sacrament, are entering into eternal life. Every time you go and approach the altar, when you take either in your hand, as you receive the body and the blood of Christ, when you take him on your tongue and take him into yourself, the into me see the intimacy is the union of you and Jesus. What a tremendous eucharistic gift this is, the body and blood of Christ. Finally, it is the presence of our lord in the eucharistic sacrament on the altar. This magnificent gift, what makes our temple our church so unique the eucharistic presence of Jesus Christ, staying with us, remaining with us 24/7 on our altar. The little red light in the sanctuary of every Catholic Church throughout the world is a sign that I want to abide with you. I want to remain with you. I just don't want to come and go. The Sunday mass that you will attend and be at and participate in today. I want to remain with you. As lovers, as lovers say, I am with you. All day. I am with you all through the day. And all through the night, can you imagine Jesus as a prisoner on our altar of love? Staying there, waiting for you. He sees you approaching. When you come at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, to visit with him. And in some of the churches, there's exposition 24/7. Any time of the day or night, you can go and be with him. How many of us want to have a visit maybe with some particular priest who has been a special guide to us, and it's so important that I make that how many of us want to see a doctor and if I could just get an appointment with him and so often his schedule is so crowded. How many of us need legal advice? And I want to see this particular lawyer. She's the greatest physician. The greatest wisdom source, the greatest guide and allure it and friend is there 24/7. You can actually go to visit him in the blessed sacrament. There are throughout the world also today, processions of the eucharist where Jesus in what's called a monstrance, a golden raid center in which the eucharist is placed. He who is the golden rays of the whole world of light. Is there waiting for us? Yearning for us. Longing for us, wanting you to come. Wanting to actually advise you, heal you. Bless you, strengthen you, no matter what it is that you come to him with, to spend an hour with him. The eucharist is the presence of Christ in a very special way in his body and blood on our altars. So the eucharist is sacrifice, the eucharist is sacrament and the eucharist is the presence of Jesus among us. This gift which the father has given us through his son is the pledge to eternal life. I am leaving you, he says, but Jesus so loves us. He just doesn't want to go. When he left this world, he stayed with us in the eucharist. He has not left us. How do I enter more deeply into this celebration today? The key is faith. As I am with you now, I am with you in my presence. I am here. It is me. I have never left you. I am fully alive. Here in the eucharist waiting for you, come to me, all you who are burdened and find my burdensome. I will refresh you. I really believe today. This particular feast of the body and blood of Christ, that we can be renewed, refreshed. To live again, you know, all this false spirituality about wanting to have been there when Christ was on earth in those in those days of the gospel. No. The eucharist brings us to him in a living way. He in us we in him by the power of this blessed sacrament, the most holy of all the sacraments and it's been my experience as a priest for the 60 years that the eucharist which was given to me on the day of my ordination that this eucharist, which if I could only offer one mass, just one, that all my study and everything I had done would have been worth it. Just offer one mass. But to have been given the opportunity to offer mass each day when I think of this gift, I remember once I was this young seminarian in Washington, and this beautiful young lady who belonged to St. Augustine's parish, and I was giving her instructions, she was a student at Catholic university, and I talked to her about this magnificent gift. She just couldn't wait. She couldn't wait to be baptized. She couldn't wait to become a Catholic. But her desire, especially for that first day in which I baptized her, I went with her to the mass at St. Augustine's. And as we went up to receive communion, she was amazed, and when she was coming back, I was particularly noticing there were tears in her eyes, and we finished the mass, and we were outside, and she said, was that Jesus? You told me that was Jesus. Yes. She said what they all didn't go to communion. If that's Jesus, how come they didn't go to communion? How come? Some of us were listening to me. Don't go to mass. How come? If you are a Catholic, and if you are, truly believing that the eucharist is Jesus. How? How come? And I really also believe, especially how important it is if you're a eucharistic minister that those of your family, who are sick and suffering and homebound, that you will bring communion to them, that this is a time that they need the body and blood of Jesus. The sick and the suffering. He wants to feed them, he wants to heal them. He wants to bless them, all how much our lives are family, our communities would become. Alive in Jesus Christ. We'll return to building the kingdom of love with Monsignor Jones in just a moment. Litany of humility. Oh Jesus, meek and humble of heart. Hear me. From the desire of being esteemed. Deliver me, Jesus. From the desire of being loved. Deliver me, Jesus. From the desire of being extolled. Deliver me, Jesus. From the desire of being honored. Deliver me, Jesus. From the desire of being praised. Deliver meet Jesus. From the desire of being preferred to others. Deliver me, Jesus. From the desire of being consulted. Deliver meet Jesus. From the desire of being approved. Deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of being humiliated. Deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of being despised. Deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of suffering rebukes. Deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of being calumniated. Deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of being forgotten. Deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of being ridiculed. Deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of being wronged. The liver meet Jesus. From the fear of being suspected. Deliver me, Jesus. That others may be loved more than I. That others may be esteemed more than I. That in the opinion of the world, others may increase, and I may decrease. That others may be chosen and I, set aside. That others may be praised, and I, unnoticed. That others may be preferred to me in everything. That others may become holier than I, provided that I become as holy as I should. Jesus. Grant me the grace to desire it. Amen..

"Good morning Monsignor, happy feast of Corpus Christi. Beautiful feast. This morning I looked out, the sun was just peeking through Jesus. The son of God, and above it, the clouds were forming like a dog over the sun and then there was like God, the father, the creator of all this majesty and the magnificent colors. That particular moment, and the Trinity being adored from the rising of the sun to its setting, and in every parish and throughout the whole world, Jesus is being aware and honored and when we have asked today and our holy father has preceded us with the eucharist in Rome, and the celebration of the body and the blood of Christ, what a magnificent day and glory for us who are Catholics and who have the eucharist and this magnificent gift from the east to the west, this glory of God, that the priests are offering the bread and the wine and an unbroken lineage from Jesus at the last supper when he said take a knee. Christi Straub: Children's Worries Start With 'What if' Questions

"A normal fear, going to a new school, that's a normal worry. And also building in us things like you've just said, you learned how to adapt in social situations. It's not that we want to prevent our kids from entering these worrisome environments. It's that we want to equip them and also give them the language that they know how to handle it. And so for Landon, when he started going to the school, we noticed it was coming out behaviorally. And so you will see, sometimes when we talk about and what do I do with worry, what ifs, right? The question always starts is what if and it's where our minds start spinning and we go down the end of the road of like, well what if what if the teacher doesn't like me or what if I don't have friends or what if I walk in and I forget the kid's name? What if I don't have anyone to sit with at the lunch table? And if we don't pay attention as parents, you start to realize our kids and so often I think their worries are not what we assume them to be. They're actually very different than the things that we might assume they're worried about. And that's where Josh is saying, it's just being a student to be into lean in and to just ask the right questions to get beneath it, really. Because for Landon, we realized some of those insecurities for him were so, I mean, you almost want to laugh in some ways.

I don't know He gets weird sometimes, so I don't know if he's worried about somebody's reaction to something. It's like It's not like we're in here kicking babies. Like little feral did that movie actually punched the baby? Didn't I Didn't expect that question what I'd look, I just I looked behind me to see what you were doing. And your your studio and Uh, you're taking that art class? Yeah. Now, you first mentioned it months ago, and you showed me in Clo a little bit at the end of the show yesterday of what you've been practicing. Yeah. Um, because you had to go to the art store and the upper the art store people. Were treating you very warm and laughing at my jokes. What the hell? I'll try harder. Uh huh. You go to Austin or something. Art supplies? No, There's plenty of those stores here Club getting them. There's plenty of stores in North Texas that don't take out these funny everyone thinks I'm hilarious, except for those two people for those two anyway. And so I turned around and all these sketching something in his In his drawer or book it's called a sketchbook. You had all the words in the sentence already I know and I chose not to use any of them for comedic effect. So the So I turned around and I ask Alfie's because he's drawn. A couple of rectangle says, Are you 20 Towers? You drawn for 9 11? No. I'm sorry to mean to offend you. I mean, look, Look, those are show me these are these are two rectangles. Okay, Let's see. You're holding him up like this. The way you see how he's holding it up. I can't say I have a glare. It looks like it looks like an equals sign. Okay. Okay. Couple of rectangles. I'm just drawn shapes. I see. Now it looks like it's kind of sideways, though, but it looks yes, super saying when I turned around the book was 90 degrees the other way now shifted, Alfie. Now it looks like twin towers, right? It does. Sorry. I've got 9 11 on the brain. Okay, I understand. It's been nonstop coverage everywhere today. I didn't mean to offend you by asking if you were drawing a 9 11. Or sketching in 9 11 thing? No, Here's the thing. I can't draw for squad. I've been a drawer er for about 24 hours. Not even because you showed us that ball yesterday that you drew. Yeah, I started yesterday around six P.m.. I thought it was a pretty good ball is a decent ball. So you're doing great. You're 23 hours in you. You can do a ball. You can do two rectangles. Look at this. I tried doing a hand about five minutes before the start of the show today. Look at that awful monstrosity. But you just trace your hand, right? Like like you're doing. I like you're doing one of those, Uh, crafts like turkeys. Look at the size of my hand compared to that I had my hand next to it as a reference, but what I was trying to draw was smaller in scale. Okay, so that that's a That's a free hand hand yet? Well, I mean, I'll drawing his free hand, isn't it? Not if you're tracing it? Well, that's tracing. That's not drawing. I'm trying to be a drawer because everybody else in my digital art class is a friggin like art Major or something like that, and I can't draw her squad I've never really been able to at all. I kind of feel like we should have a draw off to see who is the actual worst artist on the show. That's fine by me, and you can't You can't suck intentionally actually try to do good. Do your best. Here's the thing. The winner overall. Would have been rust. Rust was great at drawing. Oh, yeah, he was. He was an actual art. Yeah. But I I ain't got squat in that department like I was gonna sound embarrassing, But I don't really give an F because I'm starting from zero. So as a kid. I remember these art books that used to constantly check out from the library. They.

"I think for thirty years above baseline so they got a baseline how many spaces neuters of cats are going on now. Okay we need twenty thousand more per year. It's good the problem is vid so there's the budget there's no money for those twenty thousand. I don't even know if there's money for what they've had so we're working through all of that but we weren't allowed to have traps on city property. We weren't allowed to taught. We weren't allowed to say the name feral so safe at home. Our program at the south shelter was very much impacted. We couldn't intervene on behalf of older cats. We couldn't talk about. Oh you're bringing those kittens in. Let's not in our those moms and dads. We weren't allowed to talk about that. So we believe that. The twenty percent increase of intake of los angeles animal services per year was probably significantly impacted because of the injunction so yes intake in two thousand nineteen was up other places as well. Some scientists say because we had massive rain and when you have massive rain you have more burks. I heard there was more rabbits. there was more squirrels. I don't know how that translates to kittens. Kittens don't eat bugs. But anyway but in intake in los angeles city was drastically up and it kept going up so we're working on the no kill initiative and que. La and the needle keeps getting moved because the intake is insane so in two thousand nineteen the six city shelters in the city of los angeles. They took in thirteen thousand five hundred kittens eight weeks younger and the solution is targeted. Tr and we couldn't do it so last year with cova did and managed intake. I think the intake of kittens was about six thousand. Which is very doable. It doesn't mean there's not kittens out there that need our support and there's not cats out there and i very much believe with managing take. You still really need to increase your services. And of course my dream and lots of people's dream is that shelters are now community centers where people go for support. Don't go to get punished. They get services for their animals. They get good information and that just a better world for everyone and that's really the only sustainable way and a lot of the laws that pertained to dogs and cats. You know if you live in a wealthy community and you're of a certain economic status like you're not bothered by animal control or you have the services but if you live in south la you don't receive the same services and you're punished instead of being supported an educated in doing the right thing christie. That's great that's an incredible sort of background of the whole process. And then where you think things are headed. I think that's just a fantastic sort of time. Line that you just shared with us and really tremendous last decade. Plus of work that you've been doing if there are folks out there that are interested in finding out more about the stray cat alliance. How would they do that. Our website strike had alliance dot org. There's a contact page. And of course. We always need fosters and volunteers but we have a lot of virtual volunteers. Now so you could live anywhere in the world and then we have information. We were chosen to be the official trainers of. I don't know if that's not the right word. But the official trainers of la city for the citywide cap program. So we are going to be starting in about a month. Doing zoom meetings. That are open to really anyone but pertains the city of los angeles. And we're gonna get give really good accurate compassionate information about hats and community cats and what to do in. Don't necessarily you know a cat is thirteen times more likely to find his or her home if you leave them alone so people think they're doing the right thing.

"And go to the foster space tab to get started. Let's talk a little bit about la and what's been going on in la for the last several years with regards to their policies around community cats. And what your involvement has been during that timeframe so in two thousand ten an injunction was handed down on the city of los angeles and only the city of los angeles county not other cities that said that the city could not participate in trap neuter return. It didn't say individual groups and individual people could or dissipate. It said the city couldn't and the city couldn't promote it nor pay for it but really what it did was created a gag order so prior to two thousand ten the shelter would send people to us and we would counsel people on dnr on feeding cats on all of these things and when the when the injunction was handed down that all stopped and so really people citizens their right to know. Good information was lost because of this and it all happened because the city was sued by certain groups saying that they were participating in chapter to return without having done an environmental impact report and the leadership in those days prior to two thousand ten just ignored that they thought it would go away and it didn't go away so they got us into a terrible jam. So the city has this injunction. It's in place and everybody thinks it's going to go away in six months to a year is happened for eleven years like it was just a never ending nightmare. So finally the city like for the third iteration. The city council voted for like eight hundred thousand dollars to do this. Environmental impact report and the draft..

"Why did you feel like you could have the power to be able to create something like this or feel empowered to create something versus. Maybe someone else who might just think about it but not take that next step. Well i didn't. I didn't plan on creating strict outta lines. It kind of birth itself through me. So i just knew it was a problem and i wanted to solve it but i will tell you what i learned along. The way was the incredible prejudice against cats in the animal movements. And it infuriated me. How the focus and listen. I love dogs. I love him. I have a rescue them. The focus was on dogs. Cats were the throwaway animal. Oh my god if you were a community cat or unsocial cat you were at the bottom bottom of the wrong and that made me even matter so that was my focus. I wanted to advocate for those. That didn't have a voice so it was very much a justice. Issue for me it very much was inequality issue and so even. There's there's spay neuter organizations to this day that won't fund the span neuter of an unknown cat and the they're still around and so that is what kind of drove me was to give them a voice save their lives for specter lives. Help them survive so early on when somebody said i love what you're doing christie i'm gonna buy you twenty traps. I was like. I don't know what i'd do with twenty traps and a friend of mine. Who was helping me said all hold the traps and you can send people to me. And i'll teach people how to trap and that's how you know. The next stage was born which was need duplicating the work through others and making it easy to find a trap and easy to find funding or easier and easier to find spay neuter and streamlining these processes..

Expert Weighs in on Connection Between Climate Change and Recent Heatwaves

"Nature. Climate Change found that more than a third of the total deaths due to heat waves can be attributed to climate change. What should we expect in the coming years? I mean these events Likely to be more common. We know from the climate science that climate change is increasing the frequency, the intensity and the duration of heatwaves. We also have seen over the last few years. Very extreme heat waves. In Siberia last year where the temperatures in the Arctic I believe we're over 100 degrees. There was a heatwave in Japan that the Japanese meteorological authorities said couldn't have happened without climate change. Northern Scandinavia, Sweden A couple of years ago had a heatwave was 700 excess deaths. So we're seeing these around the world. And, yes, Communities need to develop heat action plans to be prepared for much hotter future. That was Professor Christi E. By she studies climate change in public health at the University of Washington. Professor Emma. Thanks so much for taking the time. Thank you very much.

I'm not but gets us. Designers excited So so you know in terms of like clients like nothing really drives me crazy I just but i do push you know like as designers. We always have to understand that. We aren't order takers. You know people hire us because we're professionals we have opinions. You just saw a bunch of mine. And that's that's why they wanna know What our opinions ours because we can potentially help them help push them in a better direction that you know in results in a more meaningful project are there some clients that you just can't work with the just like they are not going to get it. And how do you deal with that. Yeah I think that I think that homeowners consumers need to understand that if you are going to be working with the diner you need to be involved. This is not a hands off experience. there we can't read your mind. We don't offer that service if we did it quite expenses and we. We need you to participate with us.
